@defyxoblivion sent:
Like teacher, like student, Klarion stumbles through the door of John’s apartment naked and splattered in blood and gore. Teekl saunters in ahead of him, proudly carrying a human heart. The Witch Boy keeps himself modest with what little bit of clothing, presumably, he’s left from his encounter. A torn piece of tactical gear.
“I know, I know, I’m late for supper, and shame on me, but wouldn’t you know? My old friend Amanda sent a few pals to say hello! Well, I just had to give them a proper Suicide Squad thank you for their little abduction.”
Tumblr media
The sound of the front door opening causes John to lift his eyes from the newspaper he has been pouring over for the last hour or so. On the table next to him there's a still half full glass of gin, but the almost empty bottle set within his arm's reach betrays the fact that it's just the latest of the drinks he has been indulging in.
The leftovers Chas has left him the day before, the ones that are supposed to be the supper Klarion has mentioned, lay half forgotten in the old oven, barely warm.
Blue eyes take in the bloody figure that crosses the threshold and the magician lets out a huff, before folding the newspaper. And if his gaze lingers a little longer than necessarily on the lines of the younger man's naked torso, well...far from him to acknowledge it.
The sight would have probably horrified most people, but if there's something John Constantine has never been accused of being, that's ordinary. Or even just a little sane. To him, the Witch Boy looks ridiculous, especially with how he is trying to hide his privates.
It's also quite endearing, but he's going to keep that for himself.
Tumblr media
"Yeh makin' a literal bloody mess on me floor," is the first thing that leaves the conman's lips and he waved towards the trail of red footprints that his protégé has left behind him. "Cor blimey, woh th'...Teekl! Tha' 'eart's be'er go in yeh bowl or in yeh stomach, 'cause if I find it anywhere else, I'm turnin' yeh in a fuckin' bright pink duster."
It wouldn't be the first time the cursed cat leaves something dead to rot in a corner of the flat and John is already done dealing with it.
With a heavy sigh, the magician pushed himself on his feet, padding his way towards Klarion. His eyes ran along the younger man's body again, this time to make sure that there's no wound or bruise on him, before he slaps his shoulder.
"Get yeh pretty ass in th' shower n' get dis shite off yeh," he instructs in a firm tone, already nudging the other towards the bathroom. "I'll grab yeh some clean clothes. Den I'll get th' food ready, while yeh cleanin' up after yehself, 'cause I ain't yeh maid, lad."
He's going to ask more details about what exactly Amanda Warren has done this time, but that will have to wait. First and foremost, he wants Klarion clean and fed. That shit has been happening a little too often lately and he doesn't like it. That woman has better watch it because, while he might have pissed off most of the demonkin, he still has a few friends in the Pit.

So you know the movie Ponyo
What I'm really trying to ask is do you know the mother and the father are like a little thing where the mother looks like an epic Sea Goddess cuz she is and he looks like a sad sickly old man
I'm just imagine that Klarion and Danny
Like Danny looks like an epic beautiful star Death god powerful in the way he moves but it's subtle like he's slowly comforting you to death
And Klarion looks like a crazy witch boy with a cat who look like he's out right feral and about to throw a pipe bomb at you just because he can
I'm just imagining what happens is Young/Dark Justice is worried about Klarion he's been gone for a while and they're wondering what he's planning I imagine they're surprised when they see him with a Lazarus pit
It's a specially surprising when electric entity sticks their head out of the Lazarus pit and starts talking to Klarion as the JLD and YJL hide there waiting for Klarion into demand help our power they watch this being completely start flirting with Klarion
I imagine Klarion and Danny's conversation going like this
Danny: Hello there my amazing chaos what have you came to talk to me about this time
He puts his hands up to pick up Klarion and bring him closer to his face
Klarion: It's that stupid Doctor Fate it's like he doesn't understand too much balance can ruin the order of the world I might love chaos but that would cause a chaos I couldn't even control
Klarion sits down and Danny's hands rubbing his head on one of Danny's fingers as comfort
Danny: Oh my love I could always talk to him and get him to try slow it down a bit if that's what you need
Danny's face turns into one of concern as he says that slowly starting to move around in the bigger than normal Lazarus pit that Klarion found for him
Klarion: No starlight me and Teekl have that old fart handled how about you tell me about your day instead did you find any more stars how is the balance between life and death doing for you
Danny puts him back down as a twinkle goes in to his eyes as he lays down in Lazarus water slowly starting to swim around as he say
Danny: oh Klarion life and death has been amazing and there's a new Star nursery that I found out there it's just wonderful
After Danny says that he pauses for a moment and presents to go underneath the water he comes out looking smaller with white hair and still wearing the same clothing he was wearing when he was larger surprising Klarion by grabbing his hands
Danny: oh Klarion my dear I have an idea how about we let Dr.Fate have what he wants for once in his miserable life let him have order without the balance that he needs that should show him that he needs you should it not
Klarion takes a second to think through It after he does he grabs Danny's hands right back
Klarion: that's an amazing idea Danny I'll stay with you in the infinite realms let's see how Dr Fate work without chaos helping him keep the balance
After that Danny kisses Klarion on the cheek using the the Lazarus pits to take him and Klarion to somewhere called the infinite realms
I'm sorry this is my first time really writing out Klarion I don't know how to write out characters that well I hope it was good that is what I really like is YJ and JLD was just reacting to this conversation since like the plan was listen and find information
You bet damn right that Dr Fate would have trouble keeping the balance, and would probably have the justice league trying to find Klarion because he thinks he up to something but in reality Klarion is in the middle of deep space, playing around with the stars as Danny is molding and feeding the baby star nursery to build a new universe in the making.
Dani is probably with him doing looping loops playing with star dust while Dan beat up any asteroids that had bad bacteria and let some of the good meteorites in that has good bacteria, and frozen water inside of them.
By the the time Justice league figured it out, probably the Green lantern, Hal. He probably gobsmacked and godsmacked straight back where he came form accidentally by Danny's star fueled cape.

Miraculous and The Light (HC)
Ok, so. This HC is based on this idea. It’s a miraculous x dc crossover and one of the best ideas, I’ve read recently. I really liked it and this is why I’m forcing myself to write my ideas down.
Before we start the HC, I need to clear some things. Marinette becomes the guardian in age of 13, the kwami are teaching her as good as they can. Luka has the snake miraculous, Chloé the bee (but new costume), Kagami the dragon (again new costume) and Adrien is Chat Noir. Alix has the bunny and Kim the ape miraculous. (The two are chaos and they smelled Lila’s bullshit before she came back the second time). They deal with Hawkmoth as good as they can and they do good. Until Lila does her shit again. She manipulates Alya, which leads also Nino to be one of her followers and since Adrien is his best friend, he starts to listen to Lila. He becomes obsessed with Ladybug and her identity. The team doesn’t really notice, since it’s subtle and slowly becoming worse. So, now let’s start with the HC.
The Team protects Paris, Marinette is the leader
The situation becomes worse, the akumas take longer to defeat
They try to contact the JL, but nobody listens
And Chat Noir comes lesser to the fights, claiming his privat life is stressfull
At first, everybody understands, but it doesn’t stop and Chat becomes like a bad behaved child/brat
Lila causes another Hero Day, the Team almost looses. Chat Noir didn’t show up and the Team is angry. Chloé is ready to skin a cat
After the Hero Day, they accidentally reveal their idtities. Their group becomes closer, everybody can see, they work even better now.
Chat is envy
And Tikki is angry. No, scratch that. She’s mad. This boy could’ve been such a good cat, and now this?!
Since Plagg is her opposite, and she’s the one of Plagg, they keep each other in balance. And they aren’t in balance at all. She takes over Marinette (while she is Ladybug) and starts to rip Chat/Adrien in shreds
Whole Paris witness this and is terrified. Who knew Ladybug had such power?
Chat tries to save his face/life/’hero persona, but since Marinette is the guardian, she stripps him of his Miraculous, while Tikki wipes out his memories. Adrien’s former friends are sad, but also glad, they have one problem less
But now. Since Tikki used her more of her powers, some people notice, such as Klarion. He’s the server of chaos, but keeps in balance with creation. And the two aren’t balanced at all.
He talks to the Light, and surprise, surprise. Ra’s al Ghul and Vendal Savage felt it too
They begin to search and are surprised, that so many miraculous are active. The Light digs deeper and Vendal is very close getting up and burn Paris down. And take Hawkmoth with it
The inner circle of the Light (Vendal Savage, Klarion, Ra’s al Ghul, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke (there are still more members, but I will explain shortly))
Now, their primar goal is not to take over the world, or make everyone ‘see the light’. That’s what the ‘lesser’ members think (the ones, who are not in the inner circle) They want to keep the balance in the world, keep ‘peace’. But they know, it can’t be always peace, with creation there comes always destruction (Tikki and Plagg are totally their inspiration and mentors or whatever you could call that) And for this, they don’t always do ‘good’ things, like heroes do
Bc of this, every hero, every other villian thinks, that the light is bad. It’s a very good cover and so they can hide their true plans. So, the inner circle sends Black Manta after the Young Justice (the season 2 happens here) and go to Paris.
They find the miraculous users while fighting an amok and an akuma and are impressed. Clearly, most of them have no training and they hold themself formidable.
The inner circle talks with the team, which is wary. But then the kwamis recognize them and the teenagers (probably 15?) are so glad, that they finally have help. Not the one they expected, but still help
Vendal was one the first guardian, a simple man and then blessed by Tikki and Plagg. He trained other guardians and miraculous users until he almost died
Ra’s al Ghul was once a dragon, but also used the cat miraculous. This is the reason, why he can use the lazarus pit and isn’t mad
Klarion knows about the kwamis, the first gods, often makes rituals and such stuff. But he never saw a miraculous before
Deathstroke knows about the miraculous, but never knew, what power they truly hold
Lex Luthor knew about them too
The team is offered a traditional training with the League and since they are all true holders, they will master it faster than anyone before. Vendal wants to train Marinette as the guardian, after she finished hers with Ra’s. Deathstroke will be their mentor and Klarion will teach them in magic.
Lex takes them under his wing, teaching them about buisness, money, politics and manipulating
They train and fight Hawkmoth for two years. Sometimes, Vendal takes over as Chat Noir, sometimes Ra’s, to keep Marinette and Tikki balanced. But they need to find her true holder, which isn’t that easy, while they are still in training and fighting
The team is around 17/18, when they finally defeat Hawkmoth and Mayura. The major of Paris and the president of France tell the world finally the truth about the situation (world is shocked (especially when they hear, that the Justice League didn’t help))
Now, the heroes want to help, after Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Dr. Fate, as well Zatanna, kicked their asses for being dumb bitches. When Batman doesn’t stop (he’s an ass sometimes, but I don’t hate him) they threaten to leave the JL. He doesn’t belive it and suddendly he has 4 members less.
The four go to Paris, even when there is a heroes ban. They offer their alliance, but keep their distance, which everyone is glad.
Since Hawkmoth and his sidechick have been defeated, the Miraculous Team retires. Or so everybody thinks.
They all leave Paris, letting their friends and family think they have a job/go on vacation (Kagami and Luka fake their death, Marinette too)
Lila is smug, bc she thinks, she won, since Alix and Kim just leave and Chloé is a weeping mess
The six go to the League, where they learn new/more things and become the elite squad of Ra’s.
(Ra’s is totally a proud parent, who shows, how much his kids are better than anyones. Well, as good as he can with his stoic face)
The six still use their miraculous, but have new costumes (darker colors, mostly black)
And so life goes on, until the JL and the YJ attack the light. They take many hits, loose many bases and the first time, the heroes meet the squad
The six are just called ‘the squad’. They switch miraculous, so the heroes don’t make connections.
(Marinette is White (rabbit), while Chloé is Red (dragon), Kagami is Brown (monkey), Alix is Blue (snake), Kim is Scarlett (ladybug), Luka is Black (cat)) Over their costumes, they wear a typical League uniform.
They totally rip the heroes apart
Anyway. The JL and YJ are wary about the sqaud, they all know, they are deadly. Some think, even deadlier than Deathstroke.
After the attack, the squad meets Lady Shiva and Talia al Ghul
And her new pet project
You already know it. Jason Todd
His mind is fucked up, he doesn’t remember much until this woman in red smiles at him and just hugs him? Girl, this is the league?!
Jason is totally Marinette’s black cat.
He’s suddenly being trained (can you imagine a confused Jason Todd, trained by Vendal, Klarion and the rest of the team? Bc I do) and partnered with Plagg, who absolutly loves his new holder. There is so much chaos in him, he even survived the pit!
The squad goes on mission, mostly to mess with the JL, who notice, there is a new member. And oh shit- he destroys everything. And there Superman curmbles to ash... (no worries, he’s brought back)
Jason isn’t trying to kill Bruce, well, he still fights against Batman, but he doesn’t want him dead (the heroes think, the squad tries to kill them)
Some years pass (I have no idea, what happens in season 3 (Young Justice) since I didn’t have the time to watch it) the miraculous slowly become balanced again and the team is doing great
Until Talia snitches Bruce (bc she’s a little bitch) that Jason is alive. Not only that, he’s a part of the squad. Ra’s personally tries to kill his daughter- bc no Talia! You can’t just go and tell secrets! (silently crusing in many languages about the balance and how his own daughter betrayes him) He’s so angry, that he disowns his daughter and claims 7 year old Damian as his heir.
Bruce tries to hunt Jason down, but no success
Marinette takes Damian under her wing and gives him the miraculous of the tiger (Damian is so proud, that he’s a true holder). She and Jason become somewhat his parents, just like the rest of the team
Alix and Kim are totally together, as well Cloé and Kagami, while Luka has a on/off relationship with Lady Shiva, who is the true holder to the fox miraculous
Talia attacks the league, when Damian is 10 and takes him to his father
Damian hides the miraculous and Roarr, but Alfred knows. He always knows. (Totally cliche, but he’s the true holder to the peacock)
Damian acts like a brat like in canon, but can be such a softy
But only with his true family
Jason moves to Gotham, becomes the Red Hood, while Marinette becomes Scarlett (his partner)
The rest of the squad starts to recruit new holders and start to train them, often visited by Jason and Marinette
One tragic night, Batman fights against Red Hood, almost kills him, when Scarlett breaks his arm. Robin (Damian) comes to help, freezes, when he sees his family. He stops fighting, takes a deep breath and turns to his father.
Batman is confused, but then Robin says, that this is Jason, the second Robin and that he will not fight family
Batman lashes out, being an idiot, talking some nonsense about Jason being a criminal and suddenly Robin disapears. The big bat thinks, his kid went home
Well, he does, but not the Manor. He follows Jason and Marinette and sleeps a night there.
Then his father starts to search him (Damian) and finds him with Jason
Totally a fight there
Until Alfred comes and makes them to sit down and talk
Jason explains everything, telling Bruce, that the squad doesn’t exist anymore, bc of Talia.
He causally says, that Marinette is his girlfriend, that they somewhat adopted Damian, after Talia was banned.
Bruce tries to wrap his head around this, but slowly accept this new part of his family
It takes some time, but Jason (Red Hood) and Marinette (Scarlett) become a part of the Batfam
They lead the new Miraculous Team in secret, keep in contact with the inner circle of the light
This goes well, until Tim finds out.
Bruce lashes out again, bc what the fuck- his own child and his wife (they married) are spying for the light?! He tought they destroyes that damned organisation
Damian runs with them
They go to Nanda Parbat, where they meet the new recruits.
Now, every kwami has a true holder
Balance is perfect as it can be
Two years later, Bruce still tries to find Damian, in the hope, he isn’t with his older brother and his wife
He still is
Then Ra’s has enough of this drama, talks with the inner circle of the light and the kwamis
Kidnaps the batfam
Explains everything
Like everything
Slowly the batfam understands
Bruce is so proud that two of his sons are true holders, one of them literally can control chaos
The batfam starts to help the inner circle of the light, the other members think, this heroes finally saw the light
I can totally see the lesser memebers dumbfounded faces, when the whole Batfam shows up
Vendal starts to explain
“Batman was trained under Ra’s al Ghul himself, Batwoman followed.”
“Nightwing was trained by Deathstroke.”
“Red Hood was trained by Lady Shiva, Deathstroke and Ra’s al Ghul and is a former member of the squad.”
“Scarlett was trained by myself, Ra’s al Ghul, Lady Shiva, Deathstroke and Batman. She was the leader of the squad.”
“Red Robin was trained, like all the other Robins, by Batman. Lady Shiva took him under his wing for some time.”
“Signal was trained by Batman, Red Hood and Scarlett.”
“Batgirl was trained under Batman, Nightwing and Scarlett.”
“Black Bat grew up in the League and is the daughter of Lady Shiva.”
“Robin is my grandson and the son of Batman. He was trained under Scarlett and Red Hood, when they still were in the squad.”
(Did I forget someone?)
Gaping villians
But when Vendal says, that Batman will be part of the inner circle, as well Red Hood and Scarlett. they loose their absolute shit.
They fought the whole time with their allies??
Vendal then also says, that this will be the last meeting and they will all forget, that the Batfam is a part of the light
“Well... we can’t take risks, can’t we? We don’t want to repeat an incident with the Young Justice again... because of this, only the members of the inner circle will remember our prupose and the light itself.”
Batman then says to the JL, that he will leave the League, since this is going nowhere
The Batfamily is now officially a hero group and more loved than the JL, bc they don’t destroy much in their fights and if they do, Bruce Wayne pays. They keep in the shadows, which means, no civilians hurt AND many villians retire, when they hear, that Batman will fully remain in Gotham. They don’t try anything, bc he always seems to know
Okay... this is much more, than I acutally wanted to write and in the end, it didn’t came out as I first thought. But I hope you still like it, bc I like this version better
And it’s in the middle of the night, so if there are any mistakes... I don’t care :)

I swear someone asked for a part two to this fic but I’ll be damned if I can find out who it was. (It might have just been me and my internal need?) So, anyway, here’s long haired Dami and pixie-cut Raven. Also, oops. There’s angst?
- - -
“You’ve lost your touch.”
Raven lifted her eyes to Damian, watching as he leaned on the Bo staff in his hands, obviously smug. He tilted his lips to the side and shook his head, sighing, as if disappointed in her. Ugh. He could be so… condescending sometimes. Even if he was stupid hot. Raven set her mouth in a tight line and raised herself to her feet, feeling her muscles burn with the movement.
She tried not to think about how the early morning light lit up the sharp angles of his face, or how strands of his long hair fell into his eyes. She wanted to brush them free, but her hands clenched at her sides. The last thing she needed was to touch him. That would open a world of possibilities she didn’t want to explore just yet. Although… she wasn’t opposed to eventually exploring those possibilities. Raven turned away and hoped Damian wrote off her flushed face for exhaustion.
“You told me I couldn’t use magic, so I’m not.” She dusted herself off and fell back into position, resting her weight evenly in her stance, her muscles screaming at her. It felt like it had been eons since she last trained like this, and Damian was clearly exploiting that. “Besides, you’ve always been a better fighter than me, and you know it. So I’m just trying my best.” She lifted her stare to his. “And you know I’ve always been bad at hand-to-hand combat, especially with you. You only kept working with me because you thought it would make me better.”
“You’re soft.”
He transferred the weapon into his primary hand and stepped forward, his eyes calculating every move before she even took it. The slanted rays of the sun disappeared behind a dark cloud, casting curious shadows over his face, and that… that did not help her current problem of finding him hot. Her heart jumped up into her throat, and Raven shifted, averting her eyes as she tried to look at anything other than the way his stare bore into her.
“Tch.” He snorted and pulled his staff back into position. “When was the last time someone ran you through your paces? Me?”
The way her heart was beating, it was like he was putting her through her paces now. She swallowed a sharp remark and leaned forward again, trying to ready herself for whatever he was going to throw at her.
“I’m trying my best.” She repeated, pushing her hair out of her face. “Besides, weren’t we going to discuss the details of the case? I’m going to be distracted if we do that anyway, so I might as well use my magic anyway.” She didn’t want to admit that what really distracted her was Damian, and the way his long hair fell from his ponytail and into his eyes. Or how he seemed to fill out in all the time he’d been gone, with his stupid broad shoulders and six-plus feet of height. Or the way soft cotton stretched across his chest and clung to his legs as he moved.
She didn’t want to think about any of that, or she really was going to embarrass herself.
“Let’s go again.” Raven settled back into position, her weight falling back onto her heels. “And this time, let me use my magic. Then we’ll see who’s soft.”
Damian smirked, his fingers gripping the Bo staff tighter. “If that’s what you want. But, I won’t go easy on you.”
“I’m planning on it.”
Raven surged forward, a spell spilling from her lips and she swept her leg under his feet. Damian jumped out of the way, rolling easily to dodge her attack, his eyes narrowing at her. He pushed himself back up to his feet, using his moment to propel himself forward. Raven stumbled backward, trying to think out her next plan and feeling a spell on her lips, but Damian had already had moved too close. He wedged his staff between her legs, shifting his weight and snapped the staff against her calf.
Pain zipped up her spine, and before Raven had a chance to react, she found herself tripping over her own feet. Breath escaped in one quick rush as she ended on her back on the mats, cursing. Again? Damnit. It was just like they were in the tower again, where he always somehow managed to overpower her. It didn’t matter how many times they fought, he still beat her. One of these days she was going to take him down. She would pin him to these same mats, settle her weight over him, yank his stupid hair free of its ponytail and-
Dark magic snapped at her fingertips, and Raven felt her breath escape her lungs as he pressed the butt of his staff into her shoulders. She was distracted, and thinking about the warm weight of Damian underneath her was definitely not helping. She swallowed another curse and glared up at him, and his stupid hair still falling into his face.
Damian sighed, his expression flat as he stared at her. “Soft.” He took a step back and tapped the end of his staff into the mat. “You didn’t even have a chance to get a second spell out.” He flicked his hair out of his face and motioned at her. “Get up. Run the details by me while you clean up. This training session clearly isn’t helping you any.”
He didn’t have to be so damn condescending about it. Grumbling more to herself than him, Raven sat up and watched him move to the weapon rack on the far wall. Oh. This did not help. Her eyes slid down the length of his back before settling on the tight curve of his ass, barely hidden under soft, jersey cotton. Gods, that should be outlawed. Raven found her head tilting just barely to the side, hoping he didn’t notice that she was obviously ogling him.
“Dick mentioned something about a cult.”
“Huh?” Raven shook her head and straightened her back, color staining her cheeks as Damian turned around to face her. And this view certainly didn’t help either. He should not be wearing cotton that soft and that thin. Raven glanced below his waist, heat slipping down her neck as she glanced away, coughing slightly.
He glared at her before rolling his eyes. “The cult? The whole reason Dick brought you here?”
“Oh…” Raven cleared her throat and crawled to her feet, pushing her hair out of her eyes. Hopefully she didn’t look as guilty as she felt. She stood next to him, and tried not to think about how good he smelled, even though he was sweating. “So far it’s mostly contained inside Gotham, but we’re worried it’s going to spread. A few fanatics have said some disturbing things, and it feels like there’s weight behind their words, but nothing really definitive.”
“Mm.” Damian seemed to be lost in thought for a moment. “Klarion?”
“Maybe.” Raven followed him out of the training room, the cool air of the house sliding up her spine. “But it doesn’t feel as… flashy as he likes it.”
“He does have a narcissistic streak. But there’s also the chance he’s trying to be discreet with this too.” Damian turned to her, his eyes dark. There was a heavy silence that settled over both of them, and Raven could almost feel the way his stare burned her. She swallowed, uncertain if she should take a step back or if she should question exactly what he was doing.
“It’s good to see you.” His voice was a low rumble, and there was something in his eyes that made her feel like the world didn’t exist any more. Damian rubbed at the back of his neck and glanced away. “I… meant to write to you, but… I was undercover too deep to risk being caught. But, I thought about you everyday.”
“O-oh…” She swallowed again, her mouth suddenly feeling dry and awkward. “Why?”
He blinked, eyebrows knitting together. “You don’t remember what happened? The night before I left?”
No? Maybe. That night had been a while ago. Raven sifted through her memories, trying to remember… oh. Right. There had been a party, and Zachary had sent her some enchanted wine to let her actually experience being drunk for the first time. It had been a nice feeling, one she didn’t really want to experience again, but still… it felt nice, for just a few hours, to be a little bit numb. Of course, now her memories were a jumbled mess, and she couldn’t really remember anything in its entirety. All she had were snippets of conversations and vague images that clouded her mind. She remembered escaping to the roof of the tower. Damian had been there with her, his awkward teenage body mostly limbs at that point. And then she remembered soft words and an even softer kiss.
They had kissed.
But also… they had talked. There had to be talking in order to get to kissing. So… what did she say to him?
“Mm.” Whatever vague feeling of caution had been growing inside Damian seemed to disappear, leaving him glaring at her. Anger and hurt seemed to merge together inside him, creating something volatile. His eyes darkened and Raven felt like her whole world was suddenly crumbling down around her, blood pounded in her ears and shame colored her face. But there was nothing she could say that would make everything right between them. Her breath caught in her chest and she lifted her hand as if she was going to reach out for him.
Damian spun on his heel and walked away, his shoulders square. “Ah. Well. If you don’t remember, it obviously wasn’t that important to you.”
That stung, and Raven pulled back a half-step.
“Wait, Damian-”
“I’ve got things to do. There’s a lot for me to catch up on since I’ve been gone.” His voice was cold steel, the sound ripping through her like a knife. He stook a step forward and flicked his hair out of his face before tightening the ponytail on top of his head. “If you find anything more about the cult, let Dick know and he’ll tell me.”
“I… I can just tell you directly?”
He glanced over his shoulder at her, mouth set in a thin line. “No.”
With that he turned down another hallway, leaving Raven feeling empty and hollow, like the world had just spun on its end. Her heart sunk into the pit of her stomach, and she glanced around the empty space looking for something - anything - that would help her make sense of what just happened. But, she was alone. She was alone, Damian was mad at her, and she couldn’t remember what she had said to him before he left.
Great.
Her head fell into her hands and she sighed. What kind of mess had she gotten herself into?

Batwoman, Wonder Woman: Legacy
Chapter Four - Predictable One
Batwoman followed Diana out of the clock tower into the city. It was getting dark but it wasn’t hard for her to keep up with the Amazon. At least it wasn't until the annoying thudding in her head returned with a much stronger force than before. She managed to ignore it at first and follow Wonder Woman around Gotham, however as they passed by the Kane tower the pain became unbearable and the Bat found herself plummeting down toward the street.
Tumblr media
Kate was not able to move, an unwelcomed panic started growing in her guts. There was a slight chance that Diana was looking behind her and saw what was happening but the redhead didn’t count on it. This wasn’t a normal headache and now she certainly wished she had listened to her father and visited a doctor. The ground was getting closer and closer, Batwoman was surely getting some broken bones. She got mentally prepared for the impact, however before that could happen two strong arms wrapped around her and pulled her back up. In a couple of seconds she felt the solid ground under her and someone’s body pressed into her side radiating an insane amount of warmth; Kate could only hope it was the Amazon.
“What just happened?” a soft and concerned voice filled her head, “Are you okay?” “I...I…” Batwoman tried to talk but her throat was too dry. She managed to gulp few times even though it was obvious that it wouldn't help. At least it gave her time to prepare explanation for her sudden fall. Kate knew she can’t just say that it was a headache, not after Diana saw her having the same issue at the gala. Even though back then it wasn’t so bad she didn’t want to risk anything. “Should I take you back?” The Amazon caressed the Bat’s jaw, forcing the other woman to face her. Although Diana couldn’t say if she is looking at her since half of Kate’s face was hidden behind the mask, the friendly gesture couldn’t hurt. “I just...really need to eat something.” The redhead smiled, finally finding her voice. “Are you sure that’s all?” “Definitely.” Kate nodded, barely covering a loud whine. Moving her head was something that she should probably avoid in next couple of hours but there was no chance of doing it. Looking for Klarion was more important, getting rid of the worried expression on Diana’s face was the second thing on her to do list, after that she could get some rest. “Well then, let’s get you some food.” Wonder Woman smiled and helped her up.
Fortunately feeling the Amazon's body pressed closely against hers, supporting her like she didn’t weight anything proved to be distracting enough from the string of pain currently ravaging her body. Kate could feel her back muscles going spasmodically stiff every couple of seconds but she could also feel Diana’s abs flexing slightly when she was being picked up. The cold air was annoyingly stinging her face and the redhead was only hoping that no one in Gotham is looking up to the sky now. It would be hard to explain why Wonder Woman is flying around with Batwoman in her arms, also it’s certainly not something that the criminals should see. Her gaze shifted back to the woman currently carrying her over the city, she curled closer into the warmth, trying to gain cover from the wind. There were so many emotions going through her head at the same time, her heart rate spiked up but her breathing remained calm and shallow. She was feeling weak and Batwoman doesn’t feel weak. She was also feeling very safe and Kate Kane doesn’t feel safe, she wish she could but it was never an option; until this moment. It would be crazy to think that the goddess wouldn’t be able to protect her, on the other hand that wasn’t something that Kate would want. She was more than capable of taking care of herself. Maybe it didn’t look like that a few minutes ago when she was lifelessly falling to the street but she could. Something inside her was making her feel disgusted about the security that the Amazon provided and the redhead started moving in her arms, trying to find a way to escape. Diana never intended to make her feel uncomfortable, yet when she felt the Bat’s subtle movements, she tighten her grip around her without any hesitation. After a few more metres she started her descent to the nearest roof. As soon as her feet hit the ground, Batwoman gathered all the strength that she had left and pushed her away. There was a sign of confusion on the Amazon’s face and Kate instantly regretted the rushed reaction to the offered help.
“Didn’t think that the Bat would be afraid of flying…” Diana joked but clearly she was upset about the situation. She wasn’t sure if Batwoman got offended by what she did or if there was any other reason for this behaviour. It was in her nature to always help everyone and it was evident that the Gotham hero was in no state of getting to the food source on her own. “I am not.” The redhead answered, “I just think that...if we will separate, we can search more of the city.” “If you think that I’d leave you alone after…” “I’m okay. Thank you for saving me from broken ribs but...there is a restaurant down on the street, I can pick up some food and continue searching.” Kate tried to persuade the Amazon. She really didn't want Diana to leave, in fact she could spend whole night working with her and that’s why Batwoman needed to go. “You are just going to walk into a restaurant like this?” Wonder Woman asked surprised, referring to the Bat costume. “It's Gotham, they are used to it.” “Are you sure? I don't mind going there and getting the food…” Diana offered and watched Kate burst into an adorable giggle. “Right...like you get less attention than me with the way you look.” Before her brain caught up with what she was saying, it was too late. The goddess curiously tilted her head to the side and waited, being once again entertained by Kate’s antics. “I...uuh-I should probably go now.” The Bat said really slowly. She hated when guys were hitting on her like this and now she was the one who did it. Even though she really didn't mean any harm, it was hard to say what was going through the Amazon’s mind right now. Kate could swear that she seemed somewhat pleased. “If you encounter Klarion, how-" “Take this.” The redhead handed her a small communication device, “If I’ll find him, I’ll let you know...but…” “But?” Diana reached for the device, her fingers briefly lingering over Batwoman’s. “It works both ways...if you find him-” “I’ll consider letting you know.” Before she could start protesting, the Amazon walked over to the edge of a roof and added, “Now go get some food, wouldn't want to find you in the middle of the street in few hours.”
What Wonder Woman didn’t know was, that it wouldn't take even half an hour before that could happen. When the Amazon left, Kate took a couple of long breaths, slowly moving towards the fire escape staircase. She reached for the cold metal railing when her legs gave up on her. For the second time in last few minutes, the ground was getting closer and closer and the Bat was helpless. The last thing she perceived was the impact of her body to the cold roof; then it all went black.
“So...what now?” Tim asked unknowingly, looking at his girlfriend. “Now? We can go through the footage from the last crime scene, hopefully we can find something to help.” She exhaled and turned the Gotham news on one of the monitors. “Didn’t you go through that already?” “Not the last one.”
“This is Vicki Vale with latest news from Gotham! Is the city lost without Batman? Last night there was an incident in the museum of Antiquities. A group of armed criminals attempted to steal one of the items from the building while holding several civilians hostage. Thankfully another superhero was visiting and decided to show up just in time. Yes, Wonder Woman prevented them to take the precious artifact and saved the poor visitors. One of the eyewitnesses sent us this exclusive recording of Batwoman arriving at the crime scene with the note saying: ‘You could say she was fashionably late and her skills were ridiculous.’”
Robin went a little closer and watched the news very cautiously. He could see Batwoman using the grappling hook. He could also clearly see that the part of the roof broke and it was hardly Kate’s fault, yet the reporter used it to mock her. Tim growled and clenched his fists when the annoying grin of Vicki Vale appeared on the screen again.
“Maybe next time instead of putting our money to charity, we should pay for training of these so called heroes-”
“Turn it off.” “What a bitch.” Barb scoffed and loaded up the footage from the last crime of the mysterious villain. Tim was awfully quiet, he always hated it when someone was mocking any member of the family. He tried to focus on finding anything that could help them identify this scoundrel. “Wait…” He suddenly jumped towards the table, “Rewind it and watch this shadow.” “This?” Oracle asked, zooming in on the situation in front of them, “That looks like…” “Can you zoom even closer?” Before he finished, Barbara already did what he wanted and the video started playing again. “Tim...That’s not...That’s not possible.” She turned to him, her eyes were wide with consternation. “Call her.” He said, rubbing his neck, “She should know why is he using her weapon.”
Barb nodded and tried the comms; when she received only silence as an answer she tried to call Kate directly on her phone but even that didn’t help. She took a deep breath and looked at the screen again. It was hard for her to accept that someone else from the Bat family could be evil. Even harder to accept that it would be one of her closest friends. If it really was true and Kate was the mysterious villain then there was only one person in the city who would be able to defeat her. However, Barbara knew that she will need more than a lousy video as a proof to ask Wonder Woman for help.
“Do you have files about the last fight between Batman and Klarion?” Tim asked all of sudden. “I can find them, why? What are you thinking about?” “It doesn’t make any sense, there is no one else with a weapon like this.” Robin was thinking out loud, “If Klarion is capable of using magic...maybe he...maybe he made her do it?” “I’ll find the files.” Oracle nodded as she look into his hopeful eyes, “What if…” “Don’t.” He dismissed the idea of Kate being evil without even thinking about it. “Tim, we have to consider every option.” Barbara deadpanned, her voice shaking. “If it is really her.” He put a hand on her shoulder and gently squeezed, “I will stop her, without hurting her.” “You seriously think, that you can just go and beat Batwoman.” She frowned and put the notes on the big monitor. “Someone will have to do it, Barb.”
Without further conversation, both of them started going through the files. If there was anything that could help explain what is happening with Kate Kane, Oracle would not miss it; Although there wasn’t much to begin with. Bruce kept the his notes short and most of it was just useless discoveries or personal observations. Tim was slowly giving up, he knew that Barbara was right, there was no way of him defeating Kate but he wouldn’t let anyone else to do this job. His gaze fell at his girlfriend desperately trying to find even a smallest clue that would salvaged Batwoman right now. The Amazon would be able to overpower the Bat alone and most likely in matter of minutes but they all knew about her methods. Diana was against killing but if it was necessary she would do anything to protect the innocent. He ran his hand through Barb’s hair, closing his eyes and already trying to figure out how they will tell all this to Bruce.
“Look!” Oracle’s voice pulled him out of preparing his speech. “Curse?” Tim whispered, quickly skimming through the text, “Robin started acting weird...headaches...Klarion is definitely controlling him somehow...cursed mask.” “Kate did suffer from headaches lately.” Barbara exhaled, the happiness sneaking back into her voice. “We have to try and get the mask off.” He said, picking up his mask and getting ready to go. “Wait...y-you can’t…” “There is no one else who can do it.” Tim kneeled down in front of her, taking her hands into his, “I can do it.” “You don’t know if the mask is enhancing her physical abilities, you don’t even know if she is conscious…” “Barbara…” He smiled and pulled her in for a kiss, “I have to do it, I have to.” “You don’t have to prove anything to anyone, Tim...you don’t even know where she is.” Oracle shook her head, trying her best to persuade him to not go but she knew that this is the only chance. Of course they could ask Diana but she would certainly not play on coincidence. Unless they were sure that Kate was actually cursed, a fight with Wonder Woman could be deadly for their friend. “You can find her...I can take care of her. As a team...like old times.” He kissed her again before standing up and going to the secret exit. “Just...be careful and come back.” Barbara smiled sadly, turning back to the computer and working on finding the Bat.
Diana was on her way to the location of the second magical item. It took her a couple of minutes to get there, she used this time to retrace her day, which is a thing that was usually not necessary. This time though, her mind promptly drifted to her morning session with the daughter of Colonel Kane. The Amazon felt bad about leaving so fast and without any explanation, she enjoyed her time with Kate. On the other side, that was her job as Wonder Woman, whenever help was needed, she went there without giving it a second thought. That also meant, barely having enough time to do anything for herself, such as giving training lesson to a captivating young woman. She decided to do it at least once more before leaving Gotham. Then there was the situation with the Bat. Diana was glad that they managed to resolve the problems but she was feeling a little confused about the behavior of Batwoman. Although, most of the time Diana found human reactions irrational and for her, definitely amusing. The comms that she now shared with the Gotham hero were quiet. For some reason, it made her feel less worried. It wasn’t a question of underestimating others but she was a goddess and her presence in a fight with Klarion would certainly be better for everyone; except him. She landed right next to the item, the Silver Wheel of Nyorlath. Some of the weight was lifted from her shoulders when she saw the item stand in it’s place. However something seemed off, Wonder Woman looked around, analysing every corner and possible hiding place.
“I know you are here.” Her voice echoed through the empty room. “I am impressed…” The evil chuckle and a dull thump behind her was exactly what she expected. “You are predictable.” She turned on her heel, her hand resting near the lasso, while the other reached for the communication device, “I found him.” “I am afraid that your friend is not in reach, Princess.” Klarion smiled, accompanied by meowing of his cat. “I don’t need my friend to take care of you.” The Amazon smirked, “You’ll never get the items, give it up now and save us both some time.” “See…” Klarion started walking around the room, her eyes not leaving Diana, “That’s where we disagree. I am getting this one without a doubt.” “You seem awfully sure about that.” Even though magic could not hurt her much, it was indisputable that the witch boy had a plan and she would be a fool to rush in. “Well, what can I say...your friend was a great addition to the team.” “I...what?” Diana was caught by surprise. “Your friend...the Bat, she’s wonderful, isn’t she? A little too stubborn for my taste but still an incredible helper.” Klarion was enjoying the changing emotions on Wonder Woman’s face. “She would never help you.” She scoffed. Batwoman was hard to read but one thing was undeniable, Bruce would not leave anyone evil in charge. “Oh, I can be very persuasive. Want to see?”
Before Diana could answer a computer monitor lit up with a live feed from security camera near the Gotham museum. Upon closer inspection, she could recognize the redhead tying up hostages and putting them into a back of a truck. On the ground next to her, there was something dangerously reminding her of a huge bomb. Batwoman didn’t get the package, her intentions were interrupted by someone else. Robin landed in front of the car, immediately gaining her attention. It didn’t make much sense to the Amazon, she talked with the Bat, she should have noticed something amiss but she didn’t and now all of these civilians were in danger; and now even Tim. Wonder Woman saw him fight before and she hated to come to this conclusion but if only half of what she heard about Batwoman was true, Robin would be dead in couple of minutes. When the redhead leaped forward and threw him across the street, Diana averted her gaze from the screen.
“What did you do to her.” She growled at Klarion when he started giggling like crazy. “Merely offered her a chance to join the winning side.” He tilted his head with a cocky smile, “Because right now...right now you are losing.” “This is not over.” “Now who is the predictable one, I’d love to say see you at the Red Jar but it looks like you’ll be busy for quite some time now, Princess.”
There was no time left to deal with the little brat and Diana was very aware of that. She clenched her jaw and jumped into the air, flying rapidly towards Gotham. Klarion won the first round and he was right, she would hardly get to Red Jar of Calythos in time to stop him. The only soothing fact was that all items were needed to perform the ritual and there was would still be one more. The Amazon reached the city in a record time, however when she got to the museum her breath got stuck in her throat. Batwoman was straddling Robin’s near lifeless body with a knife in her hand, wiping the blood from her jaw with the other one. Hostages were still in the truck but the cloth cover from the back was gone and they could all see what was happening around them. Without further hesitation, Diana flew down, her body crashing into the redhead. In a matter of seconds, she released the civilians, ordering them to run and proceeding into the middle of the street. Just in time to face the Bat who now had blood on more places than just her jaw. Nonetheless she was not fazed by that because as soon as her body regained some stability, Batwoman rushed towards the goddess, not thinking about the consequences.
