Hello ghostie! Can you tell a little about how you found you were intersex only because with all the olympics controversy stuff going on is making me wonder things about myself and dont know how too find out! Sorry if too personal!
Hi! First of all, I have no idea what the olympics has to do with being intersex at the moment and I'm too afraid to ask, so I'll just pretend you deemed me the upmost authority on being intersex, which is also a mistake-
How we found out we were intersex was largely from our geneticist girlfriend and her at-the-time lab PI looking over our raw data from 23 and me and going "Hmmm... You have.... A lot of genes that should be on a chromosome you supposedly don't have..." and then doing a deep-dive with them into those specific genes. From there they concluded that we were likely supposed to be... xxy, I believe? but the second x and y fucked up and cobbled together to try their best at making a person (the success of which is debatable :P)
From there, a lot of things from our past made a lot more sense (i.e. weird puberty, sex characteristics that aren't "the norm" for our agab, our dad being irradiated by the military from the waist down just before our conception...)
Soooo not super exciting, really, and we don't technically have any medical proof per se, but a geneticist with a doctorate and a geneticist currently getting her doctorate is good enough for us. I don't really have any... Recommendations, I guess, if that's what you're looking for? These sorts of tests cost a lotta money and I don't trust medical doctors enough to encourage talking to one (or discourage, for that matter), but I also wouldn't necessarily make a stance on uh... Self-diagnosing it? If that's the phraseology to use lol??
