Samurai Love Ballad Party Part 1 - Akechi Mitsuhide and Oda Nobunaga Routes
Tumblr media
I took the plunge and decided to start this game too lolol. Someone told me Nobunaga is great so Iā€™m hyped, but since weā€™re going in order as usual, itā€™s Mitsuhide first~
Heroine seems pretty cool and nice, very self-sacrificing and family-oriented. Being a poison taster is such a terrible job though.. Inuchiyo is so cool and a great guy too! Please protect mee! Lady Oichi seems really wonderful, itā€™s great that the heroine has a girl friend~ she got so quickly upgraded to teaching Oichi how to bake foods like Castella rather than poison taster, too bad it doesnā€™t sound like the best job either since if itā€™s unfitting for Nobunagaā€™s tastes, sheā€™ll still be screwed lol. Mitsuhide and Nobunaga are very different after all, with the former being merciful and the latter being more ruthless? Nobunaga will not hesitate to rid of any obstacle in his path whereas Mitsuhide has that consideration he possesses for all people. Technically, theyā€™re both good ways of ruling depending on the era and what people need. Since realistically, it would be hard for Mitsuhideā€™s ideals to survive if heā€™s not strong enough or tricked etc but Nobunagaā€™s way of doing things could also lead to extreme fear and rebellion even if thatā€™s what wars demand in leaders. Too bad that the only ones who can truly understand them will be the ones beside them. Nobunaga understands Mitsuhideā€™s thoughts and seems to agree to a certain extent but he also thinks that what he does is necessary, since loyalty to your leader is so important. Mitsuhide understands Nobunagaā€™s kindness and his lack of mercy towards others as well, considering that Nobunaga even remembers what Mitsuhideā€™s favourite food is. Which is why they work together I guess! They may be different but their ultimate ideals remain the same.
Iā€™m sad that Oichi is leaving already, I really liked her. Sheā€™s such a cool girl. She understands her situation well. Although she canā€™t marry for love, she is aware that she is blessed with a great life of luxury that others would beg to have. Sheā€™s quite optimistic and kind. I didnā€™t naively think like the heroine did that Mitsuhide would fight for her return to her home after her job beside Oichi had been done after she left, since itā€™s practically been decided that once youā€™re here, youā€™re probably slaving away here forever, but I did kinda hope that Mitsuhide would help her like Inuchiyo did. But I guess Mitsuhide is kind but also fair. It was nice of him to help out in the kitchen as a pretense so he could thank the heroine for her work in being an emotional support for Oichi and making these desserts etc, itā€™s what she chose to do but seeing Mitsuhide thank her made it rather sweet.
I really like the existence of Francisco and Luis, it shows the existence of foreign trade to the background story of the era theyā€™re in and also presents cultural differences and an opportunity for the heroine to shine. Theyā€™re such nice characters too! Mitsuhide was so cute when he honestly said he wanted to keep the heroine closer to him and that her helping him out every day really makes him happy. Him being so straightforward makes me happy too!šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š Lord Katsuie is such an emotionally tender guy to tear up to the heroineā€™s reason for coming to the castle, heā€™s such a softie.
Oh no, to think that Oichiā€™s husband betrayed Nobunaga at a critical bout in the war, instead of being able to lay siege to a key castle, they had to escape before they were wiped instead! Thatā€™s pretty bad. Itā€™s kind of inevitable for Nobunaga to have to destroy the Azai (her husbandā€™s clan) considering the betrayal but he canā€™t kill his sister too! Canā€™t he just like hopefully grab her back?šŸ˜¢ I know itā€™s wishful since itā€™ll be hard in the mess and itā€™ll be likely for her to be caught up in the battle but.. aiyaaā€¦ On the other hand, Mitsuhide really is a gentle samurai isnā€™t he? Heā€™s considerate but also loyal to Nobunaga and his duty to bringing the best results he can with these wars. The heroine isnā€™t one to like war and all this bloodshed but really, when Mitsuhide comes into it, she understands it better, since if someone gentle like him is wrapped up in it, itā€™s definitely not because he thinks war is fun. Omggg when he held her hand though, I totally swooned, and then when she slipped and he caught her in his arms and wouldnā€™t let go. I know itā€™s so cliche but it works because I love it lmao. Iā€™m glad Ieyasu has had ninja spies with Oichi ever since she got married since Nobunaga really does care for her. I thought he would since he seemed to really like her and just giving her away to some random wouldnā€™t be nice but then I thought thatā€™s just how it is I guess. Iā€™m glad that isnā€™t just how it is!!
The best thing about Mitsuhide is that he helps the heroine in realistically possible ways rather than giving her false hope. Heā€™s nice in a realistic way! I think I can really sympathise with Oichi though, sheā€™s come to understand her husbandā€™s thoughts and feelings and actually really likes him, so how could she possibly just abandon him to his fate now of being killed by her brother by himself? Theyā€™re husband and wife after all. But, since heā€™s a traitorā€¦. Nobunaga should knock her out and take her home, although I guess sheā€™ll probably hate him for doing that, but in the end, hating him is better than her dying I guess.. The heroine is right though, Mitsuhide! What is the point of having your dreams if you lose your heart to achieve them? Thereā€™s simply no meaning anymore to it! Following for a reason and following blindly is very different and the latter should never be done. You should never lose yourself!
Itā€™s so corny when the guy saves the heroine in the nick of time but it was so sweet to see Mitsuhide do it! Especially since he has such a noble way of living and wanting to protect all innocent people. His heart is too pure for this era.. But heā€™s also what the people need as well.. if it wasnā€™t for him, Nagamasa and those innocent monks could really well have died.. Alongside the heroineā€¦ I mean, itā€™s true that sometimes innocent people will die unintentionally and maybe it canā€™t be helped, but when it can be helped, then there shouldnā€™t be such unnecessary shedding of blood. So many people die everyday already, there doesnā€™t need to be any more.
Tumblr media
Seeing things and answering in favour of Nobunaga really letā€™s you see his gentle side. Especially when the heroine is too scared to run and she tells him that and heā€™s like why would he kill her when he still wants to eat the Castella she makes hahaha. Nobunaga has a brother called Nobuoki? Ooh~ lmao at Oichi ruining every food she touches hahahaha. Nobuoki sounds very kind, maybe itā€™s because heā€™s not a part of the war that he can be so nice and gentle. Itā€™s a different kind of nice from Nobunagaā€™s and them. Never thought Nobunaga would be incapable of holding his liquor though, thatā€™s surprising! Itā€™s really very sweet to see how doting Nobunaga is towards Oichi and Nobuoki and how much they care for him as well.
Nobunaga really has no poise and tact to all this. He cares for the heroine but doesnā€™t show it properly, making her think he just wants her physically lol. I liked the nice little detour to Seto village to see what Nobunaga is working hard for, besides the wars he must engage in to achieve his dream. He definitely rushed into asking her to be his concubine and trying to get her into his bed way too fast so you canā€™t blame her utter rejection lol. But I canā€™t help but be touched by the kimono gifts he sends and the jar of candy he got for her. That really got to my heart too since itā€™s something so important to him.
Itā€™s so nice to see him figure out a way to win the battle with so few casualties after being inspired by Hideyoshi, Katsuie convincing the heroine that Nobunaga isnā€™t too bad haha. The sweetest thing though was when she said they could hold hands and he respected her wishes and did just that. As a man that can probably get most women to listen to him, he listening to her was very comforting, since it shows his high regard for her. Itā€™s nice to see Oichi tell the heroine of her husbandā€™s betrayal to Nobunaga. But yeah lol I was wondering why the heroine didnā€™t just give the message through the ninja guy but went with him instead, she really cares about Nobunaga too much that sheā€™s not thinking properly huh? Loll. I kinda teared when he had nightmares of his brother and now Nagamasa betraying him. Heā€™s been hurt quite a bit.. But it was so nice and peaceful to see the heroine spend time with her family again, with Nobunaga there too haha!
Iā€™m so devastated that Nobuoki is dead. He was never a guy suited for war but he wanted to help Nobunaga and Iā€™m sure he must have tried his best to defend the castle until the endā€¦ But itā€™s just too saddeningā€¦ Especially for Nobunaga to swallow. Heā€™s lost one of his most trustworthy brothers and his sister is stuck with a traitor that he doesnā€™t know if is treating her well or not. The war isnā€™t going well on all sides and he has so many enemies that want his head.
So, with the death of Nobuoki and with the heroineā€™s love towards Mitsuhide pushing him, Nobunaga set fire to mount Hiei killing the innocent monks that were in his pathā€¦ Itā€™ll be sad if Nagamasa dies by Nobunagaā€™s hands as well. They used to be good friends too! His elder brother tried to assassinate him, his younger brother died as a part of his ambition, Nagamasa betrayed himā€¦ Sigh. So in the end, even Nagamasa ended up committing suicide, with honour though so at least thatā€™s reassuring. But it must have been tough for Oichi to see thatā€¦ I feel so sorry for Nobunaga though, the burden on his shoulders is too muchā€¦ When he does his best to protect his people by being ruthless to others, his people see him as cruel but when he tries to resolve things through surrender, he is lied to and ambushed by them causing his men to die. Nobunagaā€™s decisions make a really big impact on the people following him, so the fact that his initial decision to be ruthless would have been correct must devastate him so muchā€¦ Heā€™ll just think that this is the result of being softā€¦ and then make himself even more ruthless from now onā€¦ But Iā€™m glad the heroine persevered and got to his heart because heā€™s so worth it! Heā€™s a great guy~ Also, when he took her back to his room and was like watch your step blah blah, I was like omggg heā€™s so much nicer to her these days, itā€™s crazy. That kompeito kiss was great lolol. Guess that kiss was literally sweet hahaha.
Overall, I have to admit that Nobunagaā€™s route was a real rollercoaster but a great one where even at the low points, I still loved it because it really questioned my decisions as well. Nobunagaā€™s life is one wrought with difficult decisions and seeing that beside him as the heroine was really engaging and saddening. It was easy to see that the love and support she gave him through making sweets and being beside him was irreplaceable and heartwarming to him. Nobunaga was a hard nut to crack but heā€™s such a sweet nut that most will appreciate. Whereas, I think Mitsuhideā€™s route was nice too because it gave insight on his perspective and what he regards to be the most important beliefs to follow, showing how he might have chose to betray Nobunaga in the future. Iā€™d say that I liked Nobunagaā€™s route more though, just because it made me think quite a bit and it was emotional.

Oichi and Katsuie!
Ultimate Ship Meme! || @sncwrisen || No longer accepting
General:
Rate the Ship - Ā Awful | Ew | No pics pls | Iā€™m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Letā€™s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPsHow long will they last? About 8 months, according to history. How quickly did/will they fall in love? Katsuieā€™s crush on Oichi began the moment he first saw her, and deepened into an obsession over several months. On the other hand, itā€™s pretty explicitly stated in SB4 that Oichi only romantically loves Nagamasa, so I think that she could only develop a more platonic sort of love towards Katsuie, at best. How was their first kiss? Sloppy and rushed, thanks to Katsuie. I doubt that he wouldā€™ve had any experience with kissing before he tried to kiss Oichi, so heā€™d suck at kissing. XD Also, heā€™d try to go for a kiss before either of them are ready, as bad as that is.
Wedding:
Who proposed? Katsuie, of course.Who is the best man/men? Probably only Sakon, if anyone even shows up. Katsuie doesnā€™t have any friends after all that heā€™s done to the Oda. XDWho is the bridesmaid(s)? Historically, Oichi has a younger sister (Oinu). In the games, Oichi also seems to know Nohime (her sister-in-law and Nobunagaā€™s wife). If Oichi needed additional bridesmaids, Iā€™m sure it wouldnā€™t be too hard for her to find some, because of how her own beauty and kindness attracts people, and because she can use her brotherā€™s connections if necessary.Who did the most planning? Katsuie.Who stressed the most? Katsuie, probably because of all the planning and permissions he would need to get from people within the Oda clan. Oichi would probably also be stressed but in a different way, though, because sheā€™d be wondering whether marrying another man would be wrong in Nagamasaā€™s eyes. Sheā€™d eventually make her peace with it, though, since she canā€™t stand the thought of being alone forever. How fancy was the ceremony?Ā Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? Iā€™d put Azai Nagamasa, butā€¦this wedding would only happen if heā€™s already dead. XD
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? None. Historically, they spent too little time together for that sort of thing to happen. XDHow many children will they adopt? Historically speaking, Katsuie adopts Oichiā€™s three daughters, and as a couple they adopt two of Katsuieā€™s sons. Iā€™d imagine that Katsuie would initially be pretty cold and aloof around the daughters (since theyā€™re Nagamasaā€™s daughters by blood), but eventually heā€™d warm up to them because 1) theyā€™re Oichiā€™s daughters by blood, too, 2) raising them would make his dream of raising children with Oichi come true, and 3) theyā€™re probably cute kids, and he couldnā€™t bring himself to hate cute kids forever. XDWho gets stuck with the most diapers? Neither. Historically, Oichiā€™s youngest daughter wouldā€™ve been 8 or 9 already by the time that they married, and Katsuieā€™s sons were probably adults already, I think ?Who is the stricter parent? Katsuie. Iā€™d imagine that Oichi is pretty lax.Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? Katsuie.Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? Neither, since thatā€™d be part of their servantsā€™ duties.Who is the more loved parent? Oichi, probably because Katsuie would be the main one being strict and laying down the law in their household.Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Both. Katsuie would probably take a more active role in the meetings, though, while Oichi would be more likely to stand back and watch whatā€™s going on.Who cried the most at graduation? Katsuie, but Iā€™d imagine that Oichi would cry a lot, too. XDWho is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? Oichi. Katsuie would also try to bail them out, but Oichi has more connections (through Nobunaga).
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? Neither, because they have servants. If something came up and the servants werenā€™t around, though, then Katsuie would take over. Who is the most picky in their food choice? Oichi, since sheā€™s more sheltered and has probably lived a wealthy lifestyle in a castle for most of her life. Katsuie has probably gone to battlefields / lived in military camps more often, so heā€™s had to make do with limited / gross / spoiled / etc. food more often.Who does the grocery shopping? Neither, because they have servants. If something came up and the servants werenā€™t around, though, then Katsuie would take over. In his mind, Oichiā€™s too much of a goddess to be troubled by mundane tasks such as grocery shopping. XDHow often do they bake desserts? At least once a week, per Oichiā€™s request. Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? Both are salad eaters.Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? Katsuie. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if Oichi ends up forgetting when their anniversary isā€¦ XDWho is more likely to suggest going out? Katsuie, although theyā€™re both the sort of people whoā€™d like to stay at home.Who is more likely to burn the house down accidentally while cooking? Oichi. Since sheā€™s part of wealthy family and has had servants attend to her for most of her life, she probably never really learned how to cook.
Chores:
Who cleans the room? Katsuie.Who is really against chores? Oichi.Who cleans up after the pets? Katsuie. In his mind, Oichiā€™s too much of a goddess to be troubled by mundane tasks such as cleaning up after pets, either. XD Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? Oichi, using her Dark Hands. XDWho stresses the most when guests are coming over? Oichi, since sheā€™s seen many guests who were unfriendly and / or plotting behind her brotherā€™s back because they didnā€™t like him, and also because sheā€™s just shy. Katsuieā€™s probably also stressed, though. Both of them seem to be introverts, so I doubt that either of them would be good at dealing with other people.Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? Katsuie.
Misc:
Who takes the longer showers/baths? Oichi.Who takes the dog out for a walk? Oichi, but she only does it more often because Katsuieā€™s samurai duties cause him to leave the house a lot. When heā€™s at home, theyā€™d walk the dog together, or Katsuie would walk the dog more. How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? Not often. For more minor holidays, they probably wonā€™t decorate at all. What are their goals for the relationship? Katsuieā€™s main goal with Oichi was to marry her, so after that happens, heā€™d probably be at a loss as to what his next goal will be. Maybe just to stay married to her ? XD As for Oichi, sheā€™d probably only choose him if Nagamasa died (and if she still kept some amount of her sanity afterwards), and sheā€™d choose Katsuie simply because she hates being alone and believes that she canā€™t go on in life all by herself. Each of them would seek comfort and some level of intimacy from the other, too, I think.Who is most likely to sleep till noon? Oichi. Katsuie tends to wake up early in the morning.Who plays the most pranks? Neither. Katsuie is too serious of a person to even consider pranking people, and Oichi wouldnā€™t want to prank anyone because sheā€™d be afraid of accidentally hurting them.
