Chapter 3: How does she(you) know that you love her(lucid dream)?

It's past two in the morning when you get back to your apartment after helping your neighbors. Luckily, few people were hurt beyond a few scrapes and bruises, and only one man needed to go to the hospital for a broken bone.

In all the time you'd lived here this was probably the first time you'd actually met most of your neighbors. People are weirdly more friendly during natural disasters.

You read the news you'd tried to check before you dropped your phone during the quake and find that there's already several articles about the damage. The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.5, which doesn't mean much to you, so you instead focus on other stats available on the government website you clicked on.

"Low casualty rate estimated," okay, so that doesn't actually mean much either. How much is low? Low compared to what? Other earthquakes? You don't have much of a frame of reference here. Sure, you live close enough to see the mountains out on the horizon when looking out your window, but these are old mountains that don't get freaky with their fault-lines much anymore.

Earthquakes are rare here.

The next morning you wake up slowly. You don't think you've ever woken up this calmly to an alarm before in your life.

It's nice.

Your whole body feels like ice, though.

But your bed is soft and cozy underneath you. And your blankets are warm around you. 

……How???...

Whatever.

You're just happy to snuggle back into them after pressing snooze on your phone.

When you next wake up it's with a start. Your heart is racing, body's covered in sweat, and your alarm is blaring its obnoxious little tune.

Yeah, that's more like the way you usually wake up.

Your phone says it's 9:40am, which is kind of a late start to a workday. You remember hitting snooze- gee, thanks past you ! 

You also remember waking up from a weirdly nice(?) dream. You can't quite recall what it was about anymore, though… 

Well, it couldn't have been that important if you forgot about it!

You probably have time for a quick shower before you have to start work today. You're glad you work remotely; you'd probably have a hard time trying to commute after that earthquake yesterday.

Hiya Indie!! A questiom for Indie TMNT that occured to me outta nowhere... what kind of voices do you think they would have? Like, I noticed every iteration have very different "sounds" to all the turtles, so I was wondering!! Any specific VAs in mind, or just general ideas?

Though, a few of my ideas have changed since then so here’s the new set:

Leonardo: Mark Whitten

Raphael: Clifford Chaplin

Donatello: Josh Brener or Adam McArthur

Michelangelo: Robbie Daymon

Master Splinter: Greg Baldwin

April O’Neil: Ashley Johnson

Casey Jones: Marc Thompson or Jason Ritter

The Shredder: Eric Bauza

Karai: Mae Whitman

These are just samples from various characters these people have voiced before to help give you an idea of what they sound like in my head, so I imagine they would have a different performance playing these characters.

Leonardo talks more naturally than Rengoku, Raph has a light Brooklyn accent, Mikey talks like a surfer dude, April sounds less like a child and more like a woman(kinda like 03 April), and Karai is a little more serious sounding.

In the cases where I put two voices it’s because I like both, so Donnie in my head sounds like a mix of both of the voice actors I chose, as in like a combination of their speech patterns and mannerisms.

Though in the case of Casey Jones, I do like both of the voice actor’s voices, but I have a major bias towards Casey Jones having a heavy Brooklyn accent much like 03 Casey.

I’ll probably change my mind again, but for now this is what I’m happy with! Many of these choices were actually suggested by BasketballCam2 on Deviant Art, so credit to them for finding these!

Donnie sat tucked away in his lab, slouched over some new project that he had been determined to finish in a night. He had his headphones on with music playing, the lights turned low to help his eyes, and completely undisturbed in his work. It was so nice to be able to work with this peace and quiet.

“Donatello.”

God fucking damn it.

With a loud, dramatic sigh, Donnie set down the tool in his hand and slipped his headphones off, swiveling in his chair to give Leo a look.

"What. What could be so important that you must tear me from my brilliant, genius inventions?" Before Leo could even get a word in, Donnie stuck a hand up in a 'halt' motion. “You have ten seconds.”

He pulled up his phone, setting a timer. “Go.”

Leonardo scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Youtoldthem,Ican’tbelieveyou,youfuckingsnitch-!”

The timer rang and Donnie turned back to his lab table, putting his headphones on and slipping his protective goggles over his eyes. “Aw, too bad, I couldn’t understand you and your time is up. Boohoo, so sad, leave me alone.” He waves his hand dismissively. “Any moment now, dear brother.”

Leo groans, leaning over Donnie’s lab table, glaring and tapping his fingers on the desk until he’s given attention again.

“Okay, what then? What could you possibly want of me?”

“You’re a snitch!”

Dontello furrowed his (fake) eyebrows, clicking his tongue in thought as Leo’s tail swished in agitation, hitting Donnie’s desk and causing dull thunking sounds. (To not embarrass his brother further, the softshell pretended not to notice Leo balling up his fists in order to not flutter his claws at him.)

He snapped his fingers. “Ohhh, you mean how I informed Y/n of your romantic interest in them?”

“Yes, of course I’m talking about that!” Leonardo shouted back, cheeks burnt red. “That was embarrassing! Man, I thought we were brothers!” He huffed.

“Oh, please. You can’t tell me you aren’t secretly grateful. We all know that you weren’t ever going to actually admit it to them.” Donnie pointed out.

The red-eared slider went silent.

“My point still stands.” Leo smacked the back of Donnie’s head. “Asshat.”
