〝 your powers ? 〞they joked - a slight deflection. gwen knew what peter meant, it was weird being around him like this. weird, but comforting. after all they'd both witnessed in their own worlds. all they've lost. she knew he wasn't exactly the peter she knew ⸺ not in the same way. her peter was gone. but she couldn't help but feel an obligation to watch out for him. there was comfort - relief even - in knowing there were other realities - other peters that had a chance at life. the good thing about spider-sense ( or just empathy ) is gwen didn't feel there was any need to put any of that into words. she was sure peter felt it too.

that's why she couldn't fault him for what she might normally consider being overprotective. besides, talking to a friend who gets it ( not just the spider thing, but the symbiote, the multiverse - the whole combo meal of issues ) was a welcome change.

〝 oh these ? janet van dyne - reed richards deserves some credit for the maintenance though. 〞they'd smirk. 〝 don't tell me, that's not how it happened in your universe is it ? 〞

"Yeah, well, in my experience symbiotes tend to be... Very particular. I figured it out later but a friend of mine pretty much turned that symbiote into a better person- Creature? I'm just gonna call it him." Peter rubbed his temples at that, really, symbiote talk often gave him headaches and the less he said about time travel, the better. "Take it from me, symbiotes feed off their host's negative emotions and amplify them. So y'know, don't let your temper get the worst of you."

If he could help Gwen Stacy, no matter which version of her, well, he could die happy. "You know, it's still kinda weird seeing you running, or well, swinging around with my powers... But I'm glad it's you. If anyone deserves them, it's you, Gwen." He couldn't help himself. He was just glad a version of his Gwendy was alive and could help people. He wouldn't ask about her Peter, he didn't need his Spider-Sense to know that could be a sore spot.

"By the way, who did your web-shooters? I've never seen you run out of web-fluid and the scientist in me is geeking out right now."
