“i’m not talking to you,” thuy reminds her, though she obviously is talking to her. she’s just not good at the whole silent treatment thing, because part of her is afraid that if she shuts the girl out completely, that she’ll give up. and thuy wants juliet to give in, to tell her what she wants to hear–which is not that she looks good today, though admittedly that helps.

“why?” thuy demands. but she softens. she softens because this is juliet. this isn’t some adorably attached girl in her psych lecture that she’d have no difficulty never speaking to ever again. her and juliet had history, and a lot of it. thuy was the attached girl and it wasn’t adorable, it was pathetic. she stares at juliet when she should be turned the other direction---anything to make this easier. “this just. . . it’s so hard. i can’t keep this up.” it’s obvious that she wants to stay. she wants to stay more than anything despite that there’s little reason for her to do so. juliet begging her to do so made it that much harder for her to approach the door.

she doesn’t know what’s going on, and to be quite frank it’s freaking her out. thuy’s had difficult girlfriends, though most of the time she was the difficult girlfriend. she doesn’t know what it is about juliet, where this sudden shady avoidance is coming from but she doesn’t like it, not one bit. "you don’t get to make that decision, julie. it’s not your job to protect me.” she pulls her hand from juliet’s, eyes wide in exasperation, shoulders scrunching in a shrug. 

“you’re telling me whatever it is you can’t tell me, it’s worth losing me over?” but thuy’s afraid of her answer, and she doesn’t want to hear from juliet that it is, indeed, worth losing her over. and she doesn’t want to lose her, so she reaches forward again and grabs her hand, squeezing it. “fuck that. i’m with you, always.”

“what?” thuy says, recoiling from her girlfriend as her harsh words come moments after thuy asks a question out of concern. to say the least, she is taken aback. “what does that mean?” juliet has been like this lately, and it’s starting to really weigh on the relationship.

thuy’s physically standing up, but she’s honestly ready to pass out. any second, really. “how are you not even tired?” she whines, letting herself fall onto juliet, arms wrapped around her shoulders and head resting on hers where she sits at the table, working on something thuy can’t understand is more important than letting herself sleep. she sighs sleepily, mumbling, “what are you working on anyways?” thuy either wants to annoy juliet into giving in or maybe just wants to land somewhere comfortable to rest. either way, she’s going to be clinging to juliet until she gets her way. it might not seem possible, but thuy is even more affectionate and clingy when she’s tired.

“oh, my god,” groans thuy in frustration as she squeezes her phone in her palm. “it’s dead!” her head’s on a swivel as she whips around to face juliet–in a panic, as she realizes that she may have needed that for a gps, rather than to make all of her snapchat friends jealous that she’s hanging out with the most beautiful girl ever. “do you know where we are? because i don’t, and, honestly my legs are starting to hurt, jules.” they’re at a park, after walking about an hour off from the bus stop. to be honest, thuy doesn’t even know what bus or what stop they would need to take. she relies on technology for that. but, juliet is very street smart. hopefully about actual, physical streets, too.
