perhaps getting a smartphone hadn’t been such a smart decision for yeji after all. at first, it’d been perfect. she could finally keep up with the world around her even when she’s out and about and didn’t everyone nowadays have phones, anyway? she was only moving with the times, albeit a little late. she could text her new friends, watch videos, listen to music— the world was at her fingertips! but as she delved further into mobile games, things started to spiral further out of control than she could quite handle. 

it’d just been silly word games when she first started downloading different apps. she even tried angry birds, having remembered when it was at its peak way back when. she’s never been unfamiliar with trends; being on the internet even if she was hacking has meant she’s always kept up. she just couldn’t indulge in any of them. she always had business to attend to, secrets to hide and escapes to plan. now that she has the free time, an abundance of it, really, she can discover all these popular handheld games. and that includes rhythm games. 

she’s still learning, barely at ‘normal’ difficulty but it’s not a steep curve just yet. for now, she’s just enjoying the songs, the way the game praises her even if she does awfully. she plays it wherever she can, whenever she can, so when her lives are refilled on the bus on her way out of the city, she doesn’t hesitate to pull her phone out and turn the volume up, jumping straight into a song and tapping away at the screen, the rest of the passengers be damned.
