"IF YA LIFEGUARD HUBBY AIN'T AROUND TO SAVE YOUR DROWNING ASS, YA AIN'T ALLOWED TO BE A FOOT NEAR THE LAKE, SEBASTIAN VORA-WELFORD!" They're an asshole. Unfortunately, they don't care. Having yelled at him from a couple feet away, using their hands as a megaphone to help carry their voice out to him, their hands moved away to show off the massive shit-eating grin they gave to Seb. The businessowner soon made their way to their friend, grabbing their phone out to loudly play The Wedding March while humming along. Ignoring all the looks and glares from those trying to watch the races at the lake. "Did I ever tell you that you and CJ make a beautiful couple? Because you two make a beautiful couple."

Normally, Hero would've been more than ready to lean into the playfulness between them. The back-and-forth of flirting and giggles and lingering looks. But they held back this time. There was a wave of questions that rushed to them after what happened with Carissa, yet they couldn't ask them in case they ruined another friendship with someone they cared deeply about. "I'm trying to. I guess I'm just not really in the mood," they admitted, leaning into Frankie's touch for that moment. Though, part of Hero hated themself in that moment for doing so. Was it really right of them to have moments like this yet hold strong to the newly realized belief that they should never date again? Could they be leading her on, too? God, how much of a fucking asshole are they? Chuckles softly left their lips before she shook her head. "I don't want to trouble you with my shit. But I would be very happy to hear your rambles." Features softening as they looked at her, they tucked some of Frankie's hair behind her ear as well. Though they tried to ignore the mental scolding they were giving themself for the act. "You look lovely as always, too. It's always a joy getting to see you, Fran." ||๐พ@frankiexshen
"I've just arrived, actually," Frankie reassured them, her easy smile showing no signs of fading as she settled into the seat nearest her friend. Being around Hero had a tendency to make her feel especially nervous but it seemed she'd be spared that particular brand of fumbling awkwardnessโ at least for the day. She leaned towards fumbling awkwardness most days, after all, and she wasn't exactly of the mind that it would simply disappear because she was feeling confident for a single day. "Are you enjoying yourself? You're making a bit of a face, like, you're thinking quite a lot about something which I'm very familiar, you know, as a master overthinker," She said, reaching out to tuck some of Hero's hair behind their ear gently. "And we can either talk about that or I'll come up with about seven other things I can ramble my way through, if you'd like. Starting with the fact that you look as lovely as always, perhaps?" Her eyes gleamed as she spoke and Frankie propped her elbow up on the table, leaning her chin onto the heel of her hand as she continued to smile. Her energy felt almost bubblyโ not unusual but welcome given how frantic it could feel some daysโ and she was perfectly content to take advantage of that feeling as long as it was content to stay.

They couldn't believe their eyes at first. How Hero thought they were imagining Giada roaming around the farm, how in spite of the years that have passed, she still looked the same as ever. While the twins were on a hot air balloon ride with friends and Meg was with her own friends at the petting zoo, the writer quietly made their way to their old friend. They couldn't help the flurry of emotions that coursed through them: happiness to see her again, frustration that she left in the first place, confused as to why she left. Hero had tried to be there for Gia and Sage after what happened to Ruby, wanting to return the favour after they were there for them after their husband left. Yet, it had stung when Sage (understandably) iced them out and then Gia left town. With the awkward run-ins with Sage over the past few months, Hero was admittedly nervous that Gia would ice them out as well. "H-Hey," they breathed out, having made their way to her. "Y'know, I thought you were a ghost at first." They tried to place their admittance off as a joke. Yet, the longer they looked at the older woman, the more they wanted to hug her and chew her ear off for disappearing the way she did.

Was Zeynep in the means to adopt a pet right now? No, technically. Was that going to stop them from checking out the adoption event to see the little critters and love on them for awhile? Absolutely not. With her kids in tow, Leia and Meg checking out the kittens while Luke loved on a senior dog, she wondered among the kennels. Cooing at the animals she saw while she walked, willing herself to have as much strength as possible. Unfortunately, that strength began to disappear the moment she saw a five year old corgi. She couldn't stop herself from gasping, carefully heading over to the sweet little baby and moving her fingers between the kennel bars. "Oh, you are so sweet," she cooed. Noticing a nearby person, she said, "This event is torturous and I know they know that. These babies are just so precious!"

By all technicalities, they were acquaintances still. They've only ran into each other a few times and haven't taken the chance to genuinely hang out with each other yet. However, that didn't stop Hero from growing concern the moment that they saw the inventor with a black eye. At first, they did a double take, the second time having craned their neck to get a better look. With wide eyes and their mouth dropped, the book owner made their way to her. "Yes, hi, hello, quick question: are you okay? How did that happen to you?" Scanning her face, they shook their head. Their lips pressed together in a concerned thin line. "Do I need to fight someone? I will absolutely fight someone."

"Yeah?" she said, her eyebrows raising up yet her smile widening. "Care to tell me more about these Twilight fics you read? I wrote one or two, what're the chances you read one of mine?" She thought about her fanfic days often. While there were some stories that she updated from time to time, she admittedly wasn't as active now as she was a decade ago. Though, it was hard to continue thinking about that after seeing the look on Carissa's face. It hurt Zeynep realizing that she hurt the other. Was she truly that blind? Or had part of her been choosing to ignore it, not because she didn't care, but because she cared about the other far too much to let her make the mistake of being with her? "I... I-It's not..." A strangled whimper left her lips while she ran her hands through her hair. Trying so hard to stop acting and speaking like a total idiot. She couldn't look at Carissa for a moment as she tried to think of what to say and how to say it. "I would be a moron not to," she finally admitted after a few minutes. "You are beyond incredible. I promise, I'm so happy every time I'm with you, and I know that I would be so lucky to be with you." Taking in a deep breath, she looked over. "But..." Sighing, she shook her head. "Cari, you would be unlucky to be with me. I have fucked up and every single relationship I've ever been in, one way or another. I don't try to fuck them up and I don't know how it keeps happening, but in the end, I do. And you deserve far better than that. I can't... I can't let you deal with my mess and my chaos. I don't want to hurt you." ||๐พ@carissacho
carissa's smile widened at the pet name and she couldn't help but be a bit hopeful that something would come from everything the two of them had gotten into. "fanfics? you know, i used to be obsessed with wattpad in my twenties and i probably read one too many twilight fanfics." that wasn't something that she was proud to admit but she assumed the two were close enough that it wouldn't matter what came out of her mouth, as embarrassing as it was. her reaction wasn't one she expected and she didn't hesitate to look away from the girl for a moment. she didn't know what the right thing to say in this moment was but she felt like whatever may come out of her mouth would end up being the wrong thing. "i-well," she took her hand into her lap and fidgeted with the end of her shirt. "i thought maybe it was..." but that's what she got for assuming right? "this, i mean, us...you don't feel that way for me, do you?"

Part of Zeynep was still wrapping her mind around the whole Welford-Vora Vegas wedding. On one hand, out of all of her friends that would do that, it makes perfect sense that it would be those two. On the other hand, however, Jesus H. Roosevelt Christ, what the fuck? What the fucking fuck? There was a difference between not being surprised over the idea of it happen, and then being completely surprised over it actually happening. Yet, whatever they decided to do in the end, she supported them. All she wanted was for CJ and Seb to be happy. Whether that was giving marriage a try or annulling the whole shit and using it as a ha-ha funny story in the future. Seeing one of the newlyweds and carrying a stuffed elephant she won, all three kids off with friends on rides, she bounced on over to her own friend and lightly tapped his head with the elephant's trunk. "Hey there, Mr. Welford-Vora! Where's Mr. Vora-Welford? I was hoping to catch a glimpse in the whole newlywed bliss you two got going on."

Ever since learning about the blonde being her best friend's ex-wife, she knew that things were going to be different. That things would changeโor, rather, go back to before the holiday gala. How that conversation with Sage had been a walk in the park compared to the stiff air between them. Now, all she knew was that Gia had stopped by Sage's and panicked over seeing Maggie. Yet now seeing the bar owner and how different the air was between them, a thought crossed her mind: what else happened? Did Sage know that her and Gia were close? She thought about Yas, which only added more questions. Questions that she desperately wished she could have answered. Questions that she needed to push to the far back of her mind, especially so that Maggie could continue having a fun day with her mother. "That's awesome! Though I absolutely envy you on thatโI think I'm destined to fit in the kiddie rides with my girls until Rhia's big enough to not need me in one with her," she said the latter bit jokingly, though it did rang with some truth. Between her petite stature and how slender she was, she could still fit with Alex in most of the rides. And with Rhia still young, she got more years of kiddie rides. Looking back at Maggie, her features softened at the tiny blonde. How identical she was to Sage, yet she could see parts of Atlas there. "I still can't believe how big she's getting. I feel like she's going to be taller than me in a few years." ||๐@sagefranklin
Holding a conversation with Aslihan seemed to be a lot easier at the holiday ball โ she supposed it was because she wasn't stuck on wondering just how much the other knew, not caring at all if she'd known about her and Yasemin at the ball. Now she cared, because it involved breaking Yas' heart instead. Maggie, however, didn't seem to sense her mom's tension and instead fell into the interaction, completely enthralled by the woman who'd greeted them in return. "That sounds nice," Sage finally mentioned with a nod, her hand settling on the top of Maggie's head for a split second, wild blonde curls tamed and pulled into a ponytail for the day. "We're having tons of fun, isn't that right, Mags? It's a girl's day for us. She's finally big enough to ride a lot of the kids' rides by herself, so she's been all about independence and honestly, I'm just a little glad that I don't have to squeeze into tiny helicopters and bumper cars anymore."

"Okay, no problem. If you change your mind, you fortunately have the rest of the week to check them out again." It wasn't usual to see Yas this way. Even the tone of her voice was different from how she usually is. Granted, Asli can't claim to know everything there is about her cousin. Especially not after having only known about each other the past few years. Yet, she was family. And how long they've known each other was moot; She loved her and she cared about her. "Yeah, we can check out Cheers or maybe even Grape Escape. I'm really curious to see what new or limited flavours they have." Nodding, she began to lead the way. Her hands in the pockets of her jeans as they walked, her lips pressed together. "You know, um..." she started, licking her lips before looking up at the other. "I know we're still learning about each other... But I'm here for you. Whether that's talking or doing something to clear your mind or anything, I got you. Always. I love you, Yas. I'm not sure if you know that, and it's on me to tell you that more, but I do. I'd do anything for you; You're family." ||๐@yasdogan
"Yeah, I don't know, I guess I just don't need anything for the house this year," she shrugged, though she knew the only reason she was failing to muster up any excitement was because she was feeling entirely sapped of her usual joy. Her nose wrinkled at the idea of going to get ice cream, the booth just one of the many things that served as an all too present reminder of Sage. "Ah, not really an ice cream girl...maybe a coffee instead. Or...mm, did Cheers have a booth? I need to buy some wine, maybe they have a sale." Normally Yas was very much an ice cream girl, but it was as simple a reason as she could find to pass on the sweet treat.

The Egyptologist simply stared at Phoebe for a moment. Her dark eyes wide and her mouth dropped in a small 'o' over hearing her question. When she tried to finally speak, she couldn't. All Asli could do was gap her mouth like a fish for a few seconds, the woman trying to gather her thoughts and think of the right thing to say. Unfortunately, she couldn't thing of it. Now, she always knew that Phoebe was one to blurt out unprompted things. But never has she been taken aback more than right now as she spoke about a movie character based on one of the most crucial figures from her culture and religion. "I..." She simply cleared her throat. Giving herself another minute. "I, um... Suppose that is the one, yes. Let's go get that edible cookie dough." Anything she could do to move on, the better.
Shaking her head to rid her mind of the moment before, she listened. Humming as Phoebe explained herself. "Right, I get it. I mean, I don't understand what ER is or the MTV Channel are. I forget that George is an actor, I'm more familiar with his philanthropic efforts. Though Amal is extremely lovely! Wait, why does he think she's the worst? I really like her, she reminds me of myself when I was a child. Well, her mixed with Ariel's love for humans and her curiosity." WaitโDid she remind Foster of Snow White? Was that one of the reasons why he hated her? She was overthinking things again. The nudge knocked her right out of her thoughts and she smiled sheepishly. Though, she wasn't sure what she meant by "getting the ick". "God, because I love you, I will never invite you to watch a movie with rabbits. But okay, sounds good. I hope the girls are entertained by the movie. I'm still not sure about the whole 'talking ducks' thing, but I'll do anything to make the girls happy." ||๐@phoebeyates
It actually did help a bunch that Aslihan was one of the few in the camp of limited exposure to animated movies. It wasn't that Phoebe was completely adverse, but it did seem like a genre you could only really appreciate if you got into it before your frontal lobe was developed. "Is that the one where they made Moses hot?" Look, she didn't have to be a fan of animated movies to know that sometimes the cartoons were drawn purposefully to make them attractive. Animated Moses could get it, in her humble opinion. "Edible cookie dough sounds sooo good, I'm in."
After getting out the car, she stretched her arms before the two woman made their way to the snack kiosk. "Yeah, you'd think, right? My mom didn't grow up with TV so her first exposure wasn't Disney but George Clooney in ER. Then left me with no parental controls and the MTV Channel. It's funny, actually, the other day Foster nicked himself at work and was given a Snow White band-aid which he wasn't happy about, but I couldn't get my head wrapped around why she was the worst princess of the bunch." At Aslihan's insistence of Phoebe's comfort, she nudged her boss' shoulder gently. "Oh, I won't like...freak out, freak out, it's more like getting the ick from it. Besides, it's a movie about ducks, not rabbits so I'll be fine. I survived Easter after all."

True, the irony wasn't lost on her. Every time she stepped into the speakeasy, which hasn't been a lot lately, unfortunately, there was always a part of her that couldn't help but to want to laugh. Two Jews walked into a church-inspired bar... The start of what felt could be a bad joke. She ate some of her fruit before shaking her head. "I'm pretty sure that the place itself is considered more blasphemous than us being here," she admitted, nodding towards the shelves stacked with booze amongst the religious iconography. "I promise, no one's going to lead into some 'Praise Jesus' chants or anything." A beat, she remembered that bible-thumpers existed. And could've possibly heard about the bar's brunch and become mistaken. "Actually, on second thought: we can bolt if that ends being the case. I'm sure no one will notice us making a run for it." ||๐@saulweissberg

Asli never expected for them to go to a baseball game as a date. Of course, the couple always found something new to do for their dates, and typically enjoyed doing them. Though, perhaps Phoebe participating in the game and it all being for charity helped with that factor as well. Though her knowledge was minor concerning the sport, having tried learning about it in the past, but admittedly was a bit rusty. Yet, she wasn't thinking about that. All she wanted to think about was getting to have fun with Eli and cheer on Phoebe and her team.
Though she couldn't stop the red blush that crept on her cheeks over her partner bringing up the past. "Excuse you, I am completely and utterly innocent! I am not responsible for all those popcorn kernels that found their way in your sheets." She knew that he knew how much of a bold-faced lie that was. Fortunately, that was the worst kind of lies they told each other. The curator remembered those nights all too well, how Eli had been someone able to get her to actually watch movies, only to end up falling asleep mid-movie. Perhaps the spilt popcorn was payback for her then-friend to fall asleep on her. However, as she looked up at him with a soft smile, she knew one thing for certain: deep down, she had been in love with him right back then as well. "I truly am lucky, huh?" Kissing his cheek, she laid her head on his shoulder. Humming softly before taking a sip of her pop. "I suppose that, luckily, we now have better things to do in bed than watch movies you fall asleep to then wake up to popcorn-covered sheets," she said nonchalantly, dark eyes looking out at the field. ||๐@elifalvey

WHO: Elijah & Aslihan ( @draslihanxfahri-bailey ).
Elijah wouldnโt consider himself a baseball kind of guy. Or a sports kind of guy in general, really โ clearly too focused on the arts throughout his life to give a fuck about the Cymru Premier like his younger brothers did. However, the mixture of a good cause and Phoebeโs participation had him sat in the mildly uncomfortable bleachers at Claret Parkโs local baseball field, having just returned from the concession stand with two sodas and a popcorn bucket in tow for both him and Aslihan to share. Showing his support, obviously, was the main goal in coming here, but the opportunity to make a nice โday dateโ out of it was a lovely bonus. โYou know,โ he started, โI still canโt look at popcorn properly without thinking of all the times you defiled my bedsheets at the flat.โ There was a grin on his lips as he plucked a piece and held it between them, ever dramatic about the plethora of mornings that he woke up amongst the kernels post movie night, mid-friendship โ a sign that he often fell asleep too early, having not remembered Aslihan was snacking in his bed beside him to begin with. โYouโre lucky I loved you, even then, otherwise . . .โ he tsked his tongue, leaning over to press a kiss to her temple before he tossed the popcorn into his mouth.

Between Gia, Dilan, and now Maya, spending time with her friends and staying with all the adorable little babies was making the itch to adopt one (or two, or ten) unbearable. However, she knew that if she brought it up to Eli, that he would be onboard with it after facing his own demons over adopting a new cat or not. "Trust me, I'm about to adopt ten of them," she admitted. With Eli watching over the girls, showing them around some of the younger animals, she took that moment to be with Maya. Moving one of her hands closer to one of the cages, a three year old pug that had been sleeping originally waking up and licking at her fingers tips. Spotting her friend Asli among the crowd, the brunette couldn't help but smile and make her way over. "Have you seen all these cute faces?" Maya exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement. With Rhia strapped to her chest in her baby sling and Alex by her side carrying a cup of feed for the animals, if there was one thing about her town's events that she would always be excited to take them to, it was Frederick's Farm. All the animals and getting to see them, feed them, love on them for awhile. Getting to see everything that was grown on the farm and maybe even trying them out, especially a bag of apricots that she and Alex were snacking on. What made it even better was getting to go with family. She felt the strangest sense of Deja vu as they walked together, remembering how just a few years ago they'd been friends who now are family. "Should we brace ourselves for a loud Greek to suddenly show up out of thin air screaming?" she joked. "Pictures are not enough, I need to meet my new little fur-niece. She is so precious, how are all the hugs and kisses so far? She looks like she gives amazing cuddles that are only going to get better over time." ||๐@dylan-westwick

Dylan pushed the stroller over towards the petting zoo, remembering just a few years back how they'd come here and it was just Alex then and she'd asked Dylan all different types of questions about farm animals and specifically goats and shared that she wanted to get one when she was older. And now here Asli and Dylan were two years later, three babies more between them and Alex now was seven. "Look Leda and Lysander, you see all those cute lil critters? Mommy used to grow up with them." Their eyes surveyed the area, Leda seemed more alert than Lysander did watching them she laughed as she used the bandana to wipe the drool off their small faces. "I think if I get any closer, Theo is gonna have a whole laundry list of diseases that he'll shout out." She joked with a grin as she looked over to Asli who she was happy to always spend time with. "So how many pictures of Nana Darlin' have you seen already?"

Admittedly, it's been awhile since she last step foot in Holy Spirits. Though, she didn't realize just how long it's been since she was last there until now. How she kept getting turned around and confused by the layout of the speakeasy, how she use to believe that a certain spot was there only to discover that it was something else entirely. She felt herself becoming frustrated over how much she kept confusing and mixing up. Granted, her memory wasn't exactly the way it use to be either. But that fact also frustrated her greatly.
And how loud and busy the place was didn't help either. She was trying to find a quiet place for a moment, whether a bathroom or storage closet, so that she could breathe and settle down. Opening the nearest door, she carefully headed in before freezing at the sudden voice. "H-Hi," she said. While she was relieved to see that it was Foster and not possibly the boss or something, she was still nervous that the man wasn't a big fan of her. The last thing she needed was for him to dislike her even more than she believed he did. "No, no, I'm sorry. I was just looking for a place away from the crowd for a moment to breathe. I'll leave, I'm really sorry." ||๐@foster-notmatty

Food service was over, which meant there was no reason for Foster to still be camping out in the backroom. He would join the crowds eventually, but there was something exhausting about joining a party after working and knowing everyone else would already be two drinks ahead of you. He was working up to it, and in the meantime, it was easier to just sit back here with his phone, letting Phoebe entertain him with her texts as he fought the impulse to just go home to her instead.
He heard the door open, the steps too hesitant to belong to any of the staff at the bar. "Bathroom's down the hall," he said before looking up to find Asli before him. "Oh, uh, sorry. It's just- this isn't the bathroom. Obviously. I've been having to explain that all day."

They couldn't stop thinking about Friday night and Carissa. They thought about her question a lot: "Was this a date?" Aside from their store manager trying to set them up on a blind date months ago, Hero hasn't thought about trying to go on dates in a long time. They hadn't held any desire toโand no, it wasn't because they couldn't stop thinking about a certain blonde either. Hearing Carissa's question, though, left them wondering if the wedding planner had been wanting to go on dates with them and for how long. Worse, they were wondering if they might have ruined their friendship with her completely for being such an idiot. Okay, granted, they always knew that they weren't the sharpest tool in the shed at times. That they were prone to making dumb choices. However, that didn't stop them from feeling horrible about the whole situation. Especially when they knew that Carissa deserved so much better. They just hoped that she knew that as well. Nursing their third mimosa since joining the brunch, Hero jumped slightly at the sudden appearance of Frankie. Smiling warmly before leaning in to kiss her cheek. Another person that they knew deserved better than them. "Hey, Doctor Cutie. No, please, I'd love for you to join me! Have you been here long? I've just been taking advantage of the mimosas so far." ||๐พ@frankiexshen

All in all, Frankie was beginning to feel tentatively proud of herself; since her conversation with Thea regarding allowing herself to spend more time with her friends and loved ones and less time throwing herself into work and time alone with her cat she'd done rather well at seeing friends a few times a week. A baby step, she thought, but a baby step was still a step and every effort to go out and see someone was one she enjoyed. It wasn't the only reason she'd found herself at Holy Spiritsโ supporting Thea had been high on her priority list when she'd decided to goโ but the sight of so many familiar faces certainly hadn't hurt where bolstering her confidence was concerned. The curve of her mouth quirked into a smile as she caught sight of Hero and Frankie found herself approaching them before she'd even had a conscious thought that she ought to. She reached for them the moment she could and offered them a warm smile as she leaned in to press a kiss to their cheek. "Fancy meeting you here, gorgeous. Would you mind terribly if I joined you?"
