More Doctor Who Musings

I cried over Donna, way too much - it's always the worst of Ten I think, more so than even the end of Ten himself because Donna doesn't get a choice, I think she would choose to burn up rather than return to her mediocre life.

(She reminds me of a friends of mine).

And I think of everything, that is the beginning of Ten's downfall. He won't commit genocide, well bully for him, but he forces a life on Donna she does not want. She would be missed, by her gramps (I called my beloved grandad Gramps) and her mum, her friends too, but she would rather they remember her being brilliant and happy than mediocre. 

Once he took that choice from her, and that choice from Rose (to chose to stay or go, him or the metacrisis Doctor), he had already gone too far. Saving Captain Brooke only for her to kill herself, lamenting that he was more important than Wilf and shouldn't die, those were just long past the point of no return for the Doctor as his tenth regeneration.

I still cried my heart out at the end though, as he chased his 'rewards', because I didn't want him to go either. I never really warmed up to Eleven, Nine and Ten were my doctors (well, that and Seven, I grew up with Seven and adored Ace when I was a kid), and I missed Russell T Davies's writing and wasn't fond of Moffats style.

Last night I watched it, went to bed crying (and regretting missing my medication the past couple of days) convinced I wouldn't be brave enough to start rewatching/watching Eleven. I went to bed listening to the start of Ten again (and subsequently kept waking up during different episodes confused as fuck). Today I have started Eleven though, light of day and all that.
