❝  no.  ❞  the  answer  comes  quickly;  ren  doesn't  need  to  think  about  it.  (  and  why  would  he?  why  should  he?  )   ❝  kazuha  is  an  EXCEPTION;  not  the  rule.  ❞  their  relationship  hasn't  CHANGED  him  in  that  regard.  the  wanderer  is  still  reticent,  still  dour  and  still  strives  to  live  allowing  as  few  people  to  know  him  as  possible.  it's  a ��philosophy.  it's  his  personality.  that  another  set  of  steps  now  follow  his  own  won't  change  what  traits  have  long  since  been  etched  into  his  very  being  by  the  cruel  hands  of  past  experience.  it  was  (  and  still  often  is  )  enough  of  a  struggle  embracing  his  feelings  for  kazuha  —  allowing  himself  to  be  VULNERABLE  for  him,  to  want  like  a  human. it's an act of selfishness, but he no longer cares.

besides,  now  that  he  is  allowed  to  want,  ❝  i'm  not  interested  in  SHARING.  ❞  kazuha  is  his  —  just  as  he  is  kazuha's.  he  isn't  sure  if  a  puppet  can  have  a  soul,  but  if  he  does,  he  imagines  they  were  crafted  to  intertwine.  two  halves  of  a  singular  whole,  each  providing  what  the  other  lacks.  it's  a  bit  FANCIFUL  for  his  tastes  —  he  blames  the  ronin,  who  once  waxed  poetic  about  red  strings  and  henceforth  poisoned  his  mind  with  nonsense.
