I remember I read someone's comment about about Death (Grim Reaper) is that they find Death more comforting. No matter how good or bad they we're. I interpret Death/Grim Reaper is like comfort character. Think of Der Tod from Elisabeth. This had me thinking of Margaret, Barbossa's late lover as his comfort mechanism by imagining her if she was still around. Like Der Tod, Margaret is our "Grim Reaper" as Elizabeth om first three movies.

drabble prompts: Hector Barbossa + Margaret Smyth. 75.- Mirror, I think. Please and Thank youuuu!!!
75. mirror
Margaret laughs at his vanity as Barbossa looks to his reflection in the dark rippling water beneath the pier, silvered beneath the full moon. It is still novel to be himself beneath the moonlight, to look and see his own flesh-full face, to feel the sensation of another so close—the heady spice of perfume in the sour salty air, the feathery brush of her dark hair, the velvet of her bodice and muslin of her skirts meeting at her hip beneath his hand.
“For a man who’s died as often as you claim to have,” she teases, raising an eyebrow at him in their reflection, “you certainly look alive, Hector.”
“The key to good living be a matter of finding what’s worth living for, Miss Smyth; and you can't live for something until you know you can't live without it," he says, and adds from the side of his mouth, "literally, if that be the case."
Margaret turns to regard him face to face, flesh to flesh, eyes shining. “If wanting is living, then I think I shall live forever.”
send me a prompt, get a drabble! ✨
#or: you know in AWE when they have to speak to calypso like a lover to release her and barbossa is still just hamming it up#it's not that he didn't understand. it's that he's like that with lovers. thank you#this was a fun challenge!! not too familiar with either of them; hope this suffices :)#thank you sm!!!!!!#pirates of the caribbean#hector barbossa#margaret smyth#drabble requests

Some thoughts on the choice of Carina Smyth's first name
Ngl even though there are many things I don't like about DMTNT, I think that Carina is like one of the best names that could be chosen for Barbossa's daughter. It sounds like a pretty regular name at first, but I think the backstory is what makes it actually a really great choice.
"Carina" is the name of a star constellation which is also known as "keel of the ship". In the german dub of the movie this is actually made more obvious, as Carina says that she's named after said star constellation, whereas in the original she says the the brightest star in the north (which is part of the constellation) gave her her name. Being named after a star constellation which resembles a ship (or at least a part thereof), her name is connected to both the stars and the sea, two focal points in Barbossa's life as a pirate and as a captain. He's a man of the sea and an exceptional navigator, and I think it's safe to assume that he has a very good knowledge of astronomy, particularly for navigational purposes. As he said himself, he knows which stars to follow home.
I like to think that Barbossa consciously chose his daughter's name because of its meaning. However, we unfortunately don't know under which conditions it was chosen, since we simply don't have enough information about his and Margaret Smyth's relationship. How many months before the birth did he learn that he was going to be a father? Were he and Margaret able to prepare for the changes in their lives that might come with having a child, did they make any plans for the future? Did they think up names together, and he suggested Carina, should they have a daughter? Or did Hector just return to land one day to learn his partner had died while he was at sea, and left him a child, and he had to come up with a name on the spot and the first thing that came to his mind were the star constellations?
I kind of doubt that we will get any canonical answers to those questions, so they are left to the realm of headcanons. I personally like to imagine that Barbossa chose the name carefully, and because of what it meant to him personally. Even though he kind of said in the movie that he never wanted his daughter to be associated with pirates (which happens to include himself), I think as her father he still wanted to make at least one meaningful impact on her life, which happened to be the choice of her name. Maybe also, in that way he would never forget her, since whenever he observed the sky and saw the star constellation Carina, he would also think of his daughter.
#tbh the actual reason I wrote this is bc I am struggling to come up with a name for a barbossa x oc fanchild#but nothing feels quite perfect and I ended up thinking too much about it#and came to the conclusion it's because his canon daughter's name already has the best fitting backstory (and a very beautiful one at that)#anyway these are just random ramblings and idk if any of this makes sense or is complete garbage I just thought 'why not share my brainrot'#also I kinda got carried away with the paragraph about Margaret's and Hector's relationship oops haha#pirates of the caribbean#potc#potc 5#dead men tell no tales#dmtnt#headcanons#barbossa#hector barbossa#captain barbossa#carina smyth#carina barbossa#selniasoriginal#ramblings

DMTNT VERSE ALTERATIONS.
CONTINUITY WITH OST AND THE TRILOGY Jack and Henry KNOW each other. Jack was a sporadic presence in the young boy’s early life and became a surrogate father to him in Will’s absence ( but never did he seek to replace Will. Jack was always the one telling Henry stories about his father ). Therefore, when Henry receives the message from Salazar to find Jack, and he encounters Jack in that jail cell, the two of them already have a strong relationship and rapport. This also means that Jack is in favour of using the trident not only to defeat Salazar, but to free Will from the Dutchman’s curse.
POST-AWE: Jack briefly meets Margaret Smyth during this post-AWE period, because Carina is the same age as Henry in the novelisation ( they’re both nineteen ). this is also around about the time that she’s conceived and later left in an orphanage by Hector. this is also why I lean towards the headcanon that Jack and Barbossa spent more time together leading this joint crew than is implied right at the end of AWE, and therefore Jack does not immediately lose the Pearl following the third movie.
PRE-OST: during the time between AWE and OST, Jack would have been pirating, regularly ( ish ) visiting Elizabeth and Henry on Shipwreck Cove but, most importantly, looking for the Fountain of Youth. he does eventually find it – or at least locates the caves past Whitecap Bay, hence why he is in a position to lead an expedition there during the fourth movie – but he does not know of the ritual at this point, nor does he actually see the fountain himself.
The events of OST take place SEVEN years after AWE.
The events of DMTNT take place TWELVE years after OST, meaning that is the length of time in which the Black Pearl has been locked away in bottle-form.
To explain away Jack being in his late fifties at this point yet looking and acting like a man no older than his late forties, even though he doesn’t drink from the Fountain himself in OST, some of the youthful properties of the water rub off on him and slow his ageing process after this point. Jack wonders at whether he has somehow unlocked the secret of effective immortality.
CHARACTERISATION:
FIRST THINGS FIRST, JACK IS NOT THE USELESS DRUNK JESTER THAT HE IS FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF THIS MOVIE. HE DOES NOT MAKE LEWD COMMENTS ABOUT ELIZABETH OR ACT AS IF HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE TURNERS, NOR DOES HE LACK THE INTELLIGENCE AND WIT HE POSSESSES IN THE OTHER FOUR MOVIES.
He is depressed at the very beginning of the film, which results from a curse placed on him by Shansa at Barbossa's request to 'curse his enemies.' This curse is placed on him around a year or two before the events of DMTNT, and immediately hampers his cultivated legend by causing repeated bad luck and disaster at every turn.
Every attempt he makes at getting the Black Pearl out of the bottle or tracking Barbossa down with the intention of using his sword to do so ( in the twelve years since OST I refuse to believe that thought does not cross Jack's mind ) ends in failure. He attempts to barter and scheme for another ship and instead ends up with the Dying Gull, which is so unseaworthy that it strands Jack and his crew on the island of Saint Martin.
Jack has spent roughly six months on Saint Martin prior to the events of DMTNT, and his grand plan to secure passage off of it is to steal from the bank ( with the aid of the mayor's wife, Francis, with whom he is having an affair and intends to accompany him ) and use the funds to refit the Dying Gull and make her seaworthy again.
I am also stating right here that Jack does not demand tribute of his crew following this failed bank robbery and, when it comes to his execution scene, Gibbs does not have to be paid to come and rescue him. That's nonsense I want nothing to do with, thank you.
When that ends in failure, Jack, in a moment of desperation and amplified by the effects of Shansa's curse, gives away his compass for another drink. For a fleeting moment, he gives it away with no intention of getting it back, and that is all the compass needs to lash out and free Salazar.
The compass' reaction is the first moment of realisation for Jack of how far he has sunk in the last couple of years. When Henry reaches him with Salazar's warning, he actually sits up and takes notice and, for the rest of the film, is the same Jack we know and love and actually cares about seeing Henry reunited with his father.
With the trident of Poseidon destroyed, Shansa's curse is lifted and Jack is once again free to do as he pleases.
Jack goes with Henry and Carina on land where they are united with Will at the end of the movie.
THE COMPASS
To explain away that Jack has given away his compass MULTIPLE times throughout the trilogy without any serious repercussions such as... whatever the Devil's Triangle is, I'll firstly note that each time he has bartered it away to somebody, the intention on his part has never been permanent. He has always intended to get it back somehow or use the bartering away to further his own ends, and through whatever laws of magic or physics has always obtained it again.
The difference in DMTNT is that Jack gives it away with no such intention, and that is what constitutes as betraying it. Jack and the compass are inextricably linked and have been ever since he was given it by Tia Dalma as a child: the compass is a powerful enough magical artefact in my opinion to have a consciousness or soul of some kind, in the same way that the Black Pearl is implied to have. In betraying it, the compass is spurred to react.
I don't like the idea that the compass directly caused Salazar to be trapped inside of the Devil's Triangle ( since Salazar and his crew went down as they entered -- that had nothing to do with the compass ), but instead I interpret that freeing Salazar is the compass' reaction to being betrayed. It lashes out and causes the earthquake in order to punish Jack and, on some level, spur him on to restore his reputation and break his own curse that's plaguing him.
FLASHBACK
The ship Jack is on is NOT the Wicked Wench. Nor is he made captain of it through his actions against Captain Salazar. Instead, he is a sometimes crewman on an unspecified ship sailing from Shipwreck Cove and comes up against the Silent Mary in battle. Jack's actions and quick thinking save the lives of those on his ship and others trying to escape the carnage.
Jack does not gain his 'sparrow' moniker from Captain Salazar. Firstly, there is no plausible way for Jack to overhear or know that Salazar refers to him as a sparrow given that they do not say a single word to each other ( other than Jack shouting in the crow's nest ) and Salazar spends the next several decades trapped inside of the Devil's Triangle, and secondly my own interpretation is that Jack obtains his last name from his mother.
Jack did not receive his compass from the captain of the ship he's on in the flashback, but from Tia Dalma as per trilogy canon. He also does not receive pieces of his costume from the crew as tribute.
Jack did not realise that Salazar would end up trapped inside the Triangle. He saw the ship get destroyed by the rocks and go down once it entered the cavern and so Jack assumed, for the next forty years, that he’d killed both Salazar and the rest of his crew.
Over the next forty years, the Devil’s Triangle became a place of legend ( enough for Henry to be able to recognise it ). It was rumoured that any ship who strayed too close would disappear without trace ( much like the Bermuda Triangle myth ). Jack eventually hears about the rumours but thinks nothing of them, and certainly doesn’t put two and two together that his compass could potentially lead to their escape.

He said she shouldn’t silent all the voices of cursed undead men who are dying of being bewitched to charge her powers. Jack told her that her silence is not an answer and he grabbed the Silver Crystal from Henry and show it to Morgana and the crystal cause Morgana hurt and realized it works. Henry is trying to grab Jack's shoulder, the power from the crystal hurt Morgana more. Jack calls everyone come to join Jack together in hold to raise the power more from the Silver Crystal until it finally defeats Morgana.

Carina began to hope. Henry reunites his parents, Elizabeth is happy to see her son was alive. And then, the Turner couple finally reunites Jack after many years. Elizabeth thanked Jack for helping her son to find the crystal and she said that the crystal must be safely stored. Elizabeth's old friend, Norrington finally reunited after long years. Jack said he was tired and need a hiatus from the adventures he’s been through. Later, Jack meet Salazar and freed him from the cell. Salazar is about to arrested him despite Jack’s still on parole, yet, Jack told him that pirates aren’t just sea criminals but rebellious human beings. This shocks Salazar for a moment for confronted by empathetic and compassion and consequences he faced, he decided to drown himself into deep sea.
Barbossa finally met Peggy in a dark place that is supposed to be an afterlife and happily reunited and walks off.
Jack happily having a big break. Angelica and Elizabeth taking care of Carina and teaching her how to be self-aware. Carina feel home with others around her. Then, the dinner party is ready with others, the three ladies went to the Brethren Court to celebrate the victory. Henry and Carina fell in love together.
At least, this not an end, this is the new beginning.

What would I pay
To stay here beside you?

Reclaim the Stars Part 2 of ?
Carina Smyth Barbossa x Fem!Reader Mini Series
Word Count: 979
Tagging: @starchild-of-the-sea
Henry felt shattered. Carina was gone. She ran away from him.
For one shining moment everything seemed perfect. He had his family and he had the love of his life. How could things be better?
It had all been overwhelming.
He had only ever seen his father twice in his entire life, and now Will was staying, staying forever. Elizabeth had always been an incredible mother, had always tried to be there for Henry, but she never knew how. As the Pirate King, she had certain responsibility that needed to be attended to, and balancing that with raising a child alone and trying to free her husband from an ancient curse was overwhelming to say the least. This meant that often, Henry had been kept under the care of any maid who could survive his shenanigans, but they never lasted long.
His life had always been a flurry of change, always shifting like the water his mother loved so much. He had tried to embrace it, tried to flow with the tide.
Maybe if he were like the sea his mother would stay. Maybe if her were like the sea he could be enough.
All of this pushed him to spend his life trying to save a man he knew he should love. The sea and its lore became Henry’s life. Then, the sea brought Henry to Carina. She was beautiful and witty and brilliant, and she stayed. She became his constant. She was there when his parets were not, and when he suddenly had both parents always smothering him with love and attention, she was there to anchor him.
He thought he might love her. But then she left.
His constant was gone, so he was going to bring it back.
Was it really so selfish to want someone to stay?
................................................................................................................................
Jack was frantic. Carina was gone. She ran away from him.
The girl had proven time and again how stubborn and independent she was, but he hadn’t expected this. He had thought she trusted him. Then again, why would she? When had he ever proved himself trustworthy?
He hadn’t planned on going back to the Turners’ island, hadn’t planned on visiting any of them. But his memories of Hector and Margaret haunted him. They had been so in love.
No matter how much Barbossa had denied it, Jack knew that he would have been an incredible father. After Margaret died, Hector had given up. Jack could only imagine what the family could've been, what they could've done. He had watched as Hector gave up his daughter; he had never expected to see the child again. But there was too much of Margaret's blood in the young girl. She was determined to find her father, and she did. She dedicated her whole life to finding him, and yet she lost him.
Maybe Jack felt partially responsible. He had known, and yet he hadn't told Carina of her relation to Barbossa. He could not deny the truth; both he and Hector were cowards. Still, it seemed unfair that Jack had to deal with the aftermath.
Clearly, he wasn't doing too well at fixing things. Carina had been missing for an entire month, and the only possible lead he had on her was an account from a dinky port town. Apparently, a female pirate had stormed into town, magically disappearing before the townsfolk could heroically arrest her.
Hopefully Jack could find her soon, and hopefully there was no actual magic involved. He was getting really tired of magical half dead people who wanted to kill him.
................................................................................................................................
Carina had found her home.
She didn't know how, but Y\n, that sweet, awkward girl had truly become her home.
“ I hope you are aware that I will not budge on this.”
Carina laughed. “ Oh, I am well aware. I wouldn’t dare to leave Ursa behind. I designated a whole basket for your furry little monster.” Y\n gasped, dramatically throwing her hand over her heart. “ How dare you suggest that Ursa is anything less than an angel. Look at her! You broke her little heart with your name calling!”
The cat in question did not in fact look heartbroken to Carina. Ursa hissed, feeling Carina’s gaze. Carina swallowed the urge to hiss back, instead returning her eyes to Y\n. The girl was staring at Ursa contemplatively.
“You really want to do this? Do you really believe that we can successfully commandeer an entire ship? Where would we go?”
Carina smiled, “ Anywhere! We would travel the sea, visiting all of the islands. If we find one we love, then we will stay!”
Y\n grinned briefly, then frowning, commented “You didn’t answer my first question. Are you positive that we could take charge of a ship? Just the two of us?”
“Three, with your demon cat. But yes, I am sure. Two able bodied people is all it takes, and we can stop by Tortuga to gather a crew if you want.”
Y\n remained silent for a moment. It was just long enough of a pause that Carina really thought about what this could mean. It wasn't as if he were proposing marriage; she had only known Y\n for one month. But this, this was serious. She was asking Y\n to abandon everything familiar to her so that she could seek out a life with Carina. Why would she even consider saying yes?
"Okay."
Carina blinked. " Okay? Wait... Okay! Do you really mean it?"
Y\n laughed, and Carina could have sworn the sound was pure sunshine. "Yes, I mean it! When do we start?"
Grinning, Carina caught Y\n's hands in her own. " Tomorrow, if that's what you wish. "
Carina knew that she was in far too deep, drowning in the way she felt, but she couldn't bring herself to care. She wasn't sure, but she thought she might be falling in love, and she felt giddy at the thought. But time would tell, and she was willing to wait millennia for Y\n.
A\n: I'm not very proud of this, but it's better than just sitting in the back of my head I guess? Also, I'm really sorry for not having very much Carina and Y\n in this one either.

I am not familiar with Margaret's character, so I can't imagine her reaction. But maybe she thought that Barbossa was sweet because he took care of his dead enemy's child
She probably did. And she’s kind of right, it is sweet. He has had every opportunity to shove her off on someone else and just…not need to take care of her.
He didn’t do that. He’s taken on full responsibility and isn’t too bad. Jackie still laughs and cries like other babies. All evidence points to her completely thriving under his care.
How do you think he reacted to realizing “Oh fuck! I’m attached” and finally getting out of his denial phase

TW: protest, riot, massacre, discussions on mental health, grief, slavery mention
Edit: Act 2 synopsis
The talking skull above the stage tells the audience that the people of the show went remaining dead and silent because of tyranny and that’s why they’re “dead men tell no tales”.
The show starts with the undead cursed pirates went suffered and were bewitched under the sea witch name Morgana the Tyrant’s curse. Everyone criticized the condition of her curse and her treatment of them was worse she never gave them the right to be free from her and her curse. Everyone was killed for trying to escape or attempt to kill her and being silenced by her. And that they dubbed Morgana as the “tyrant”. Then suddenly, Morgana made an announcement that she was about to charge their soul to make her feel strong and powerful, plan to take over the seas, and still never let them be free. This made everyone outraged when they heard this. They began to spread enlightened ideas such as overthrowing her, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, individual freedom, and the pursuit of happiness. And now, they began to form a movement against the tyrannical sea witch.
The prologue shows a dying 25-year-old Johnathan Teague in the waters after he tried to save Wicked Wrench from sinking. Jonathan thought of his pursuit of freedom and a sense of justice and reflect on his experience of him being an individualist of his refusal to trade enslaved people and getting branded as the “pirate” by Lord Cutler Beckett. Jonathan finds a way to have longevity and he goes to Davy Jones to revive him and his ship. As the sinkable ship forms into a new ship, Jonathan received 13 years of longevity from Davy. He made himself an alter-ego name “ ‘Captain’ Jack Sparrow” and renamed the ship “The Black Pearl”.
A few months later, The Black Pearl was tracked down by a Spanish naval ship called “La Silencia Maria”, captained by Armando Salazar who pursue Jack Sparrow being on parole after they released him after a week as a prisoner in the Spanish naval ship while Jack and his crew searching for the Cortez Treasure. Salazar ordered his men to pursue faster while Black Pearl sailed fast from them. Until they saw the Black Pearl steering around “The Hell’s Gate” and La Silencia Maria crashed into the rocks.
A few years passed, and Will and King Elizabeth were reading the message from the bottle in her office at Shipwreck Cove. Their son, Henry came to the office and greeted them good morning. Elizabeth began shocked and her son asked her what was wrong. She explains that she thought her loyal friend James Norrington, the Captain of the Flying Dutchman was dead and took a four-year gap of his absence from the tenth year and final year of being the Flying Dutchman captain because he was cursed by Morgana. She said that James and other bewitched seaman begging her to aid them for resistance. Elizabeth knows what to do about this. Henry would love to help but Elizabeth orders him to find her old friend “Captain” Jack Sparrow and help Henry to find the Legendary Silver Crystal that is shaped like a lotus flower that Calypso suggested to bring to the uprising. According to the legend, the benefits of the crystal may contain they can reincarnate/revive from the dead, lift the curse, healing abilities, and especially can perish Morgana. Henry had little knowledge about nautical from his adolescence but he said he had to go to the Royal Navy for more and hide his pirate identity to search for Jack. Before Henry left, his parents told him to stay alive and he left.
Three days later, at Queen Anne’s Revenge, Captain Barbossa being busy received the message that there was a meeting in Brethren Court, tomorrow evening. Then, the spirit of his late lover name Peggy appears and asked him if he takes care of their “treasure”. Barbossa began to realize and sorrowfully replied that he gave it away 19 years ago after her death. This makes Peggy disappointed and almost blamed Barbossa until he explains to her that because as his grief loss over her death grows worse. As he thinks it hard to handle it to take care, he gave “treasure” to somebody to look after for his slow recovery from his grief until he almost forgets. He now regrets that he gave the “treasure” away. Peggy now understands his melancholy as she was. She missed him as much as he missed her too and longed for him to find their “treasure” and be with her in the afterlife as soon as he found their “treasure” until she fades away from the scene.
Meanwhile, Henry disguised as the sailor boarding the “Monarch”, a British naval vessel pursuing the Dutch Barque that was stolen by pirates. Henry noticed that the ship is about to go to Hell’s Gate. Henry was panicked, he tried to warn the captain about Hell’s Gate but the captain never believed what he was saying and arrested him right before they entered the rocks. As they enter and soon encounter a ghost ship, La Silencia Maria, Salazar and his men killed every Monarch crew, except Henry. Salazar encountering Henry, noticed he’s searching for Jack Sparrow. Salazar tasked Henry to search for Jack and gave his message about his pursuing him to enforce Jack with laws and morals. Henry refused but Salazar warned him if he disobeyed the task, the ghost told him “Dead Men Tell No Tales”.
In Charlestown, the townspeople began to gossip from reading the gazette on topics like entertainment, economy, and even the “lunatic witch” girl was arrested for physically attacking someone after the debate meeting by her inappropriate anger. In the cell of the jail, Carina has a “blue” mood of feeling lonely. She has a goal of finding her birth father and holding her late mother, Margaret’s journal as a key to her past, and she craves home, love, and family. All of the sudden, she escapes from the attempt of “exorcism”.
At the grand opening of the new bank, the event was interrupted by a group of protestors that was led by Captain Jack Sparrow for their opposition to industrialization and slavery and they start to riot. Jack realized he ran out of gunpowder so he fled from the middle of the rebellion to go to the Magazine where the gunpowder was stored. Carina hides in the clock shop from being arrested, and then her clock master tries to scare her away because she’s a “lunatic witch”. Jack went inside and ran out as he escorts the girl out of the shop and they scattered. Jack found the Magazine and stole the gunpowder and went quickly back to the rebellion. Suddenly, Jack saw the redcoats massacring the protestors, some were wounded, some are killed, some are arrested and the individuals ran away from the rebellion. It turns out that the rebellion wasn’t successful as Jack expected.
At the prison hospital, Henry finds himself shackled in bed after he wakes up due to his coat’s sleeves being removed, signed treason by Captain Thomas. He is soon approached by Carina disguised as a visitor to him and she asked him about the legendary silver crystal that she was searching for as Henry was. Henry was terrified about his fear of Salazar. Carina calms him down, and he agrees to find the crystal with her, and she helps him escape. Suddenly, both were chased by redcoats, and Carina got caught and taken back to prison.
Later, Jack Sparrow was abandoned by his crew. Jack wished himself to find the justice and freedom that he longed for. He went to the tavern and traded his compass for rum. Until the minor came to the place. At Hell’s Gate, Salazar reflects that his family was killed by the pirates, and his obsession with pursuing pirates forced them with morals and laws. Unaware, the earthquake set Salazar and La Silencia Maria crew free from the rocks. Back at Charlestown, Jack left the pub and he set himself arrested for his individual act.
Meanwhile, Barbossa got another message from Salazar to meet him. Then he visited Shansa and tell her about his “treasure” and Jack’s compass she was handed by her bartender friend at the pub. Shansa said that the compass guides him toward love and freedom. And he left for the Brethren Court meeting.
At the cell, Jack met Henry and he remembers him as a little boy that he met. Henry asked him for help but Jack almost declines until Henry mentions that the cursed seamen need help and join the resistance against Morgana to free them from her. Jack delightfully agreed. Also, Henry adds that Salazar is still hunting for Jack after 40 years on the rocks of Hell’s Gate because Jack is still on parole for years. During the Blood Moon, Carina discovers the papers fell from her late mother’s journal and uses the ruby with a “P” written on it to uncover the clues from the papers.
The mob of bewitched seamen went to Morgana’s fortress and meet her for the negotiation. While negotiating, everyone tired of waiting and stormed and raided her fortress. While rioting, the cursed bewitched people who negotiated with her realized that Morgana was a strong and powerful sea witch but they realized it was possible to defeat her, and hoped the livings joined the resistance. Back at Shipwreck Cove, Barbossa went to the meeting with King Elizabeth. Elizabeth made the news that her good ol’ friend Norrington and other seamen were cursed by the tyrannical Morgana and they begged Elizabeth and other living pirates to aid them. She and others rightfully agreed and they began spreading the news around the pirate's community in different places and bringing supplies to join the revolution with the cursed people against Morgana’s tyranny and her curse.
The next morning, Jack met his uncle for the first time and had a brief conversation until Jack was taken to the public execution. At the execution, Carina was the first to be executed. In her last words, she called out the mistreatment of her while she was in the prison and its problematic system and the newspaper fabricating about her and accusing her of her “maniac” behavior. Jack agreed with her while he’s being next in line. She apologized to the person she attacked and tells the crowd to judge her all they want and she’s never been happy with life. Then, Henry and Jack’s crew help Jack and Carina escape from the scene.
Back at the Revenge again, Peggy’s spirit reappears to grieving Barbossa and urges him if can be with her to be free from a miserable life. Barbossa has no choice but he needs to live longer and still missed her. She told him “As If It’s Your Last”.
At the Dying Gull, the ship takes the voyage, the crew tied Henry and Carina to the mast. Jack asks Carina about the information where the crystal was located and helps them to find the crystal and join the revolution against the witch. Carina delightfully agrees. As they release the two recruiters, the crew began to work on the ship except for Carina with no nautical experience. She asked Jack and others to teach her about nautical stuff that she have never done before. Jack gladly loves to teach Carina new stuff. He, Henry, and the crew taught Carina about nautical throughout the day. Back at revolt, cursed people sea battling with the witch’s henchmen. Meanwhile, Salazar finds someone who had Jack’s compass was given by Tia Dalma (Calypso in human form) who cursed the Spanish captain and imprisoned him and his crew in the rocks. The person who carried Jack’s compass that he searched for was Barbossa and was willing to ask him to find Jack.
One night, back at the Dying Gull, Jack teaches Carina about navigational at night. He told her that finds the True North. He said the North Star as a compass will guide her and her heart. Carina said that she has struggled with issues with abandonment, being oppressed under injustices, and discussed how she wished she would leave the cruel world, and her self-image. As Jack understands how she feels and he told her about some similar struggles he has. Carina has big compassion for astronomy and wants to be like her late mother, Margaret growing up. Carina asked Jack if he knew about her mother. Jack said he knew about her mother who’s a close friend of his who is charming, witty, practical, and analytical yet vain and he remembers Carina’s birth father as well but Jack doesn’t know what happen to them after Margaret gave up her search for the crystal. Carina briefly teaches Jack about astronomy.
Jack went to Henry and both had a standoff, Jack tells Henry if he ever wanted to die. Henry told him he got feelings for Carina and asked how he can support her. Jack gave him advice to him and Henry went up to busy Carina. Henry told Carina that he understand the struggles she told to Jack. Aside from the negativity, she deals with, Henry said she’s not burdened as everyone thinks, he told her that she is compassionate and curious. Carina began trusting him and feel like she had never met a person who acted like this compared to others and she quickly fell in love with him.
Later, the crew went asleep. Jack and Carina began to dream on their own, and vice versa. But it turns out their dream into nightmares. Jack’s was when his old nemesis, Salazar chased him and killed him. Carina went from the glamourous party with anonymous parents into a mob taking her to the noose. Until Carina screamed and Jack gasped after they woke up from the nightmare. Carina begin to cry, Henry came to her and comforts her and said it was just a dream and they slept together. Jack smiled when he watch them and went outside for fresh air.
On the day, the cursed bewitched men are ready to settle the sea battle as they sing, and they hear the living pirates with aid singing too, and they join their resistance against the witch. Peggy hopes for Barbossa to be with her, Barbossa begins to wait to meet Salazar, Salazar was eager to pursue for finding Jack Sparrow, and The Dying Gull crew prepares for the new day to search for the crystal. Jack will be happily anticipated resistance against Morgana the Tyrant and free cursed people from her. More freedom and justice have come to everyone’s destiny.
