Ellie knew she deserved the face Grace was making at her. Yeah, this really hadn’t been one of her most well thought out choices, but Leigh Anne had been insistent and Ellie had thought maybe she had the whole older and wiser thing going on so maybe she should at least give it a shot. She definitely thought wrong. “Yeah, apparently she is. But she’s also the only one who can get all the kids to go down at nap time, so I thought maybe she was some kind of genius.” She let out a deep sigh. “When will men ever stop being … men?” A slight smile crossed her face though, at the compliment to her daughter. “Yeah, I know. She really is, hopefully someday I’ll find someone who sees that.”

The second she said Tinder, Grace was making a face at her. Could she really judge? She met her man when he drunkenly knocked on her door looking for a guy he knew, then she let him in to use her phone. "Your co-worker is nuts." She shook her head. "They all say they like kids, it's a lie or they just want to make their own with you." She rolled her eyes. "They're missing out, Mads is the cutest."

The complete list of films featured in 2021′s “31 Days of Oscar” marathon
What follows is the exhaustive list of all 403 short- and feature-length films featured on this blog over the last thirty-one days for the 31 Days of Oscar marathon. This number is up from last year’s count of 327 and is the second-highest number of films I have ever featured in this marathon (behind the 410 films from 2016). Despite the number, this remains only a fraction of the nearly 5,000 films that have been nominated for Academy Awards. This year’s marathon was harder to plan than usual due to the fact it was presented in alphabetical order - with the exception of any write-ups I did.
BREAKDOWN BY DECADE 1927-1929: 7 1930s: 44 1940s: 63 1950s: 63 1960s: 46 1970s: 25 1980s: 29 1990s: 28 2000s: 25 2010s: 43 2020s: 30
Year with most representation (2020 excluded): 1940 (ten films) Median year: 1964
And now, the list. Best Picture winners and the one (and only) winner for Unique and Artistic Production are in bold. Asterisked (*) films are films I haven’t seen in their entirety as of the publishing of this post.

Jack Antonoff Enlists Bon Iver, Lady Gaga, Grimes, St. Vincent, More to Fight Anti-LGBTQ Legislation in Texas
Jack Antonoff of Bleachers and fun. has gathered a bunch of musicians and celebrities to send an open letter to Texas legislators, Billboard reports. The letter is notifying lawmakers that the creative community is “deeply troubled” by legislation that targets the LGBTQ community. Specifically mentioned are Texas’ “bathroom bill” and another bill that would force teachers to out students to their parents. Antonoff is urging people to contact Texas representatives. Bon Iver, Grimes, St. Vincent, Janelle Monáe, Grizzly Bear, Wilco, and Lady Gaga are among the artists who signed the letter. Find more info here.
Laura Jane Grace, Lykke Li, Britney Spears, Carly Rae Jepsen, Alicia Keys, Carrie Brownstein, TV on the Radio, Sia, Chvrches, Tegan and Sara, Kesha, Mark Ronson, Ariana Grande,  the B-52’s, Amanda Palmer, Paramore, Shamir, Talib Kweli, Sting, PWR BTTM, Hercules & Love Affair, Rostam Batmanglij, Vic Mensa, Amy Poehler, Amy Schumer, Lena Dunham, Ilana Glazer, Jimmy Kimmel, Connie Britton, Laverne Cox, Emma Stone, Ewan McGregor, and others also signed the letter.

— GLAAD (@glaad) February 14, 2017
In an interview with Billboard, Antonoff discussed the need for the creative community to speak out against bills like the ones addressed in the letter. “We all have to stand up, even if we’re not from Texas, or LGBTQ—we all have to say that this isn’t OK with us,” he said. “And I hope the level of talent on this list opens people’s eyes, and particularly that local legislators will realize how important this is—to the people living in Texas and to the people coming in and bringing a lot of money to the economy.”

Ellie shot Grace a grateful look, waiting until she was sure the guy was gone to speak. "Tinder. Which I know not the best place to be looking for a future partner, but my co-worker found her husband there and she swears by it." She let out a sigh. "His profile said he liked kids, I guess a single mom was just a little too much for him though."
Tumblr media
"Aaaand that's a wrap, you heard the lady. Shoo. Okay bye bye." Grace shooed the person away before turning to Ellie. "Serious where did this one come from?"
