in both verses, aelius openly dates women but typically keeps his relationships with men very secretive; 

in the main verse, it’s kind of bad business if people know you’re “ Not Straight™ ” because most of the world can’t conceptualize non-straight relationships yet. that and it often biases people’s decisions and perceptions of him. aelius may allow people to find out that he’s gay if he thinks it’s beneficial to the deal they’re about to close. then he promptly destroys any potential stereotypes that people make about queer men, especially queer asian men. also in the past, his parents never really talked about sexuality. their attitude seemed to be that lgbtqia+ individuals are okay, but not my son.

in the best case scenario verse, aelius has only dated women because being gay is kind of not a thing that happens in taiwan, even though taiwan recently passed their landmark decision that same-sex couples have the right to marry ( but the bill is technically still pending in legislature etc etc ) so aelius hasn’t? really conceptualized? the idea of being gay? he just thinks dating women is what you’re supposed to and never really thought about his sexuality outside of what his parents think. also, it would likely destroy his reputation and relationship with his family if he came out

blorbo (the one in brain Always): blorbo award goes to mr. parable 'perrie' shakes. he is my favoritist boy. i put him through so much pain. he started as a joke character, smashing sherlock holmes and shakespeare together, but he is so much more. hes such a fun character because he toes the line of 'selfless or just self sacrificing' hard. hes a healer who didnt plan to be a healer, but takes the role in stride! he likes being helpful! blorbo from my brain.

scrunkly (baby character, the one whom is baby): solstice fortunata. solstice. yep. mhm. my scrungle, my little guy. his abilities literally revolve around emotion, so hes kinda shaped by them! despite that? their joy is never faked and their smile is so sweet and their eyes are so bright. solstice can and will make it their job to cheer someone up. i adore he.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated fav): mouse murdock! howdy ho! okay. mouse is one of my favorite characters. i never properly use her for anything, but she is so special to me. theres something that can be personal about a little lady who is not an alien but is almost one.

glup shitto (lmao bg character): so. so i have this character. his name is ace. ace overwood. ace is like 14 years old, a cellist, and... his power is 'egg'. yeah his abilities are all egg puns. hes a snotnosed kid who plays cello though. ive. he has no substance as a character but god hes so fun he stinks so bad.

poor little meow meow (pathetic </3): parable downly. who is perrie in the worst case scenario. at his best, downly is the worst case of repressed autism turned emotional repression youve ever seen. he is a business boy and does nothing more than make snide remarks about the people hes forced to interact with. downly is incredibly intelligent, but he also learned from his father (who i will get to.) how to deal with others. which is! not well!! he sucks but also hes like literally a kid who never learned how to kid. pathetic little man </3

horse plinko (id maim you): IM GETTING TO THE FATHER. NATHANIEL FUCKING DOWNLY. so perrie, normal perrie. he takes his moms maiden name because his father is the fucking WORST. nathaniel is a shit father and uses his time to run a massive surveillance tech company called OWL Intelligence. so much time, in fact, that he left perrie alone to go fuck off and work. nathaniel is a bastard. his ability set is not one driven to fight, but instead one driven to react. for reference: one of these abilities makes it impossible for the person targeted to attack him (other than melee) for the rest of combat. unless they reveal a significant secret about themselves. slimy asshole. id bite him.

eeby deeby (straight to superhell): eliane aelius. now this isnt to say id send her to eeby deeby because i dislike her or because she sucks (although she is an ex-serial killer. how can one be an ex-serial killer? well theyre all alive now.), no, i just think shed enjoy it. the thrill of it, yknow? she is the girlboss turned wet paper towel of a woman. she used to kill people. now she knits and goes to roller derby practice on wednesdays.

aelius probably climbed a tree and she was standing at the bottom, eating something and like “yeah you’re fine climb higher if you climb high enough you’ll be able to see the whole city” and her parents come back like “where the fuck is qiangru” to which she’s like “OH FUCK” and aelius proceeds to fall out of the tree and break his arm

sang knows how to steal and ride motorcycles, but in best case scenario he can probably steal a motorcycle but won’t.

aelius doesn’t do motorcycles because they’re dangerous, but in best case scenario it’s easier to travel by motorcycle through taipei than car because you can cut between the car lanes during traffic. they’re also rad during high speed chases but he hasn’t bought a new one since moving to the us, much to his parents’ relief.

best case scenario aelius’ dog laifu

aelius’ dog is a kai ken called laifu ( 來福 ) which means blessing or literally “ come luck ” in chinese. his parents gave him the dog before he left taiwan because they felt it was best for him to have a dog in the apartment so he wouldn’t get lonely and also so he wouldn’t be alone/would have someone looking after him. laifu is about a year and a half now and very well behaved. aelius would also die for his dog who wouldn’t

BEST CASE SCENARIO VERSE;;

nova’s father never died in the car accident and helped her mother manage her bipolar disorder. nova grew up very happy and well adjusted ( and super bi, dudes ). she now studies women and gender studies at uc berkeley and works as a barista in a coffee shop near school

caid sought help and was separated from his parents as well as his brothers. he had a hard time adjusting away from and grew up in a busy household of five other kids in north carolina but found somewhere to be. he excelled in lacrosse and picked up a scholarship to boston college, where he studies biology/biological sciences. his family and boston college don’t talk much about lgbtqia+ issues tho so he’s kind of ??? about his sexuality lmao. his legal name is shiloh de luca and goes by his first name shiloh.

sang's parents didn’t die and he grew up in los angeles with his sister. he often helped his father, who was a mechanic, and eventually went to ucla for engineering but he also studies linguistics/takes classes in it. he’s relatively fluent in chinese and french and sometimes does practical effects for the theater and film programs, both within school and other local schools. mostly for shits. his sister has started her first year at yale with intent to major in economics or business management. additionally;; his parents don’t know about his sexuality and he’s kind of been scared to tell people, but his sister knows.

aelius was never taken from his parents and grew up in taichung, taiwan with an older sister. in taiwan, he is part of the criminal investigations bureau where he was part of the international criminal affairs section. he recently moved to america to work with the cia on certain techniques as part of a joint decision based on the taiwanese and american governments. some of his superiors at the cia have been interested in taking him on as a special agent because of his ability to pick up information and skills quickly, as well as his fluency in chinese. while he’s pretty fluent in english, aelius is a little shy about his accent and doesn’t speak much but contributes where he can. legally, all of his documents list him as qiangru tsai but goes by the name aelius tsai because it’s easier to pronounce than qiangru.

BUUUUUUT if you want us all to fantasize. just for a little bit, take a peek under the cut

nova eventually makes her way to NYC where she finds a queer/lgbtqia+ group and she volunteers. she’s really passionate about it and advocates both for homeless queer youth and those recovering from heavily religious backgrounds that were detrimental to their health. she meets another girl there who’s just as passionate, they hit it off, and get married! start a beautiful cute family together!!! yaaayyyy!

caid meets someone who sees him for who he really is and it starts out as a tentative fwb/sugar daddy thing bc caid knows a good deal when he sees one and will ( hesitantly ) stick around if someone is offering him money for sex. one day, his fwb catches him reading or caid tells him something he learned which is kind of impressive from someone who dropped out of hs at 15 and he encourages caid to pursue a higher education where he majors in biology cum laude. he doesn’t have the patience or time to go for a PhD so he kind of just teaches bio to ungrateful high school students. while also looking out for people who are showing signs like he was and insisting they seek help/working with them to get it. oh also he marries his fwb!

sang is eternally torn between leaving the country or staying so that he can hold onto what he has left of his family. he knows he’ll never be able to defeat the case that he’s wanted for since he had no proof that he killed out of self-defense and that also he didn’t kill his sister. instead, he eventually moves into a super super small town and goes by a different name; picks up a job as a mechanic where no one asks questions. he still keeps to himself but he catches the attention of this woman and they share a few drinks; talk. they fall in love and she never really asks about the rifle or the trips he makes two times a year. he marries her and lives out a quiet—albeit constantly paranoid—life with her.BONUS ROUND: the woman he falls in love with is a reporter and the two of them endeavor to clear his name. in the best outcome, they collect enough pieces and report to the highest authority that he didn’t have any way out and he’s cleared as innocent. 

aelius doesn’t really have that miserable of a life? i guess? like, outside of a happy ending, nothing goes particularly poorly for him. no one ever catches him because he’s that good at his job and he keeps a con up. he never really looks for love because it’s never been that important to him, but he puts up the air like he’s got a family with a number of fake spouses and girlfriends. his endgame had never been to have a family anyway. he dies with millions to his name and satisfied he never got caught....alternatively, he eventually goes back to taiwan to try to find his biological parents/family  and reunites with them. he never really feels he belongs but they do shift something in him, since it’s—weird knowing that someone could love him by blood even though they never knew him. he continues to do what he does, but with more ambition to dismantle the worst of companies and donates his money to huge charities or other people he just. thinks should get money.
