The Flash S5 Ep 1 Thoughts

- The intro being like Barry’s in the beginning, but with Nora’s voice-over? AMAZING. I’m just going to call her Nora Allen because… yeah… and XS is her name? Clearly she wasn’t named by Cisco because that’s… 😬😬😬

- However they casted Nora so, so well. She’s gorgeous and she does look like a mix of Barry and Iris. I just thank God that Barry and Iris are not actually blood related or else she’d look… not like that. Barry’s face when she tells him she was named after his mom, I’m SOFT 🥺🥺🥺

- Cisco coming to the rescue with humor to save the tension, just like she pointed out. Love to see it! But why would Caitlin not realize that if that’s Barry and Iris’ daughter, why WOULDN’T she know their names? C’mon, Caitlin is smart… although I guess it’s automatic for people to ask that so I’ll give it a pass.

- “And your name is XS…” “Clearly not my doing” wow I love being right lmao but it’s a nickname??? Because she always did things in excess? Isn’t that kind of rude because Iris called her that because she was always doing more, going over the top. Whatever, I may end up liking it I’m not sure so I’ll just continue watching.

- Ralph being Ralph and Wally low-key feeling insulted that he didn’t know about the legends, iconic as always. But what was better was Joe’s “oh fuck” face when he realized that Cecile still had her powers lmao that’s hilarious!

- Ooh the title card mixing Nora’s purple with Barry’s yellow/red? Now THAT is iconic!!! However… Iris DOES realize that the only reason their lightning is a certain color is because of their outfits, right??? Barry’s suit is red and yellow and her’s was purple. Lightning trails kind of mean nothing other than the fact that they’re a speedster…

- I know this being a bit bitchy but the fact that Iris called the idea of Nora Marty McFly-ing herself could ruin her own existence was Terminator 2 and not Back To The Future highlights the fact that Barry is a nerd and Iris isn’t and therefore, in that way, do not fit together (and yes my Snowbarry shipping ass does recognize that Caitlin probably would because she’s also a nerd but I’ll keep that out for my first thought-post)

- “I’ll be back… in a flash.” God Nora is the CUTEST thing! And her little giggle was so cjdsfhaskjfhskfa She’s so excited to meet her parents even though it’s dangerous I just love her okay

- Iris is a bit cute with meeting their daughter too. I love that she was like “I knew she was our daughter!” since Barry was skeptic, as he should because this is a superhero show and therefore do not trust anyone who comes into your life claiming to be something but Barry is also right that they need to get her back as quick as possible. I wish they’d been allowed some time to mull over what happened though because it’s been hours since everything went down last season.

- Can’t believe Wally is back (even though it’s probably just for a little bit) I’ve missed him so much and it’s just so surreal 🥺🥺🥺

- Even though I feel bad for Cisco about his breakup, instead of focusing on Iris being all cute and proud about her daughter, I was more focused on Caitlin waving her hand above Cisco’s face to check on him lol I love their friendship so much they’re really tight and I swear to GOD they better not ruin it

- FINALLY Barry is given his mundane job back! Technically it was supposed to be last episode but obviously shit hit the fan so… Still, I know that eventually Iris goes back to being a reporter but that separation, having different jobs is exactly what they need because being together all the damn time is very annoying and focuses so much on them. I’m still bitter that they made Iris the “leader” of team flash despite knowing nothing (but suddenly does because fan service) about the level of science they use every day, Iris really only knows how to be bossy and commanding

- Barry being all awkward and stuttering over calling Iris her mom I love it, so cute. Also, HE HAS HIS OWN SPACE AGAIN WE LOVE THAT FOR HIM.

- Nora being just as smart as Barry? We love to see it! Her also loving his favorite dessert? We love that too!  Barry bonding with his future daughter? WE LOVE THAT EVEN IF IT’S DANGEROUS. 

- I miss Barry having little quips when he’s out and about as the flash, like him connecting with the cops is so sweet.

- Nora if you’re going to show up where he’s going to battle another meta, don’t give away the fact that you’re there when you’re not supposed to be!

- FLASH MUSEUM. Isn’t there always a museum for superheroes in these kinds of things lol are they REALLY that surprised when they’ve made drinks and if I’m remembering correctly, a day for The Flash??

- “I’ve studied everything” hinting at the fact that she learned from the museum and not her parents, meaning something happens to one of them, probably Barry.

- Hungover Cisco is really… interesting. Sad we don’t get humorous Cisco because he’s mulling over a migraine but hey everyone has off days

- RALPH COMING IN TO SAVE THE HUMOR WITH THE “MANYVERSE” AWWW THIS POOR DUDE!!!!

- Why can’t we have this cute Iris who’s like her own person all the time? I mean the last few episodes of s4 were actually quite tolerable and I’m not sure how or why but please let this tolerable Iris stay PLEASE

- First of all, I love Schway, second of all, Iris being the mom who tries to be hip… we love to see it. 

- Knowing that Nora never was around Barry because of something I’m not sure of (gotta love seeing spoilers lol) and Iris apparently treating her… not that great… and her hugging Barry before she leaves (which will probably fail) and not Iris hinting at that in the future just—ugh wonderful show

- Called it not working! I mean, how else is she supposed to stay in the show lol they wouldn’t introduce Nora for an ep and then let her go home, especially in 15 minutes

- This meaningful talk between Barry and Iris is really sweet. Like, normally Iris makes it all about herself but she’s actually helping Barry and recognizing that this is how he feels and she’s genuinely helping. It’s so weird, it’s like I stopped watching and now we’re in a parallel universe where Iris is actually good and it’s tripping me up

- Iris using schway with Barry that was very cute

 - Barry realizing that he’s not a part of the picture in the future 🥺🥺 Poor Barry…

- Nora calling herself selfish a bad speedster sounds more like words that she heard growing up……. :(

- God I am LEGIT crying at her explaining this to Barry, apologizing to him, him realizing that he DID miss all of his daughter’s firsts. It takes a lot of emotion for me to cry, like, a LOT. This is such a raw, emotional moment and it’s so, so. good. This scene is just 😭😭😭 they are such great actors JESUS pull me by the throat why don’t you

Man just redoin some research on the Nazca Lines makes me appreciate my culture even more. I'm getting such nostalgia...

Like, I remember when Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's first came out. I was going through some rough times and even though I grew up here, I still always felt like an outsider (that feeling comes and goes tbh). Like, I could always talk to my friends about all these things but when it came to talking about my culture, sometimes people seemed disinterested or indifferent and some people would make fun of my Quechua language and how some words sounded. I hated being bullied when I would talk about some Incan culture and named objects in Quechua & immature/intolerant people would just make fun of it.

But then 5D's came along & the Earthbound God cards came out & so many other cards were made for the TCG with Duel Monsters with names IN QUECHUA! Like, man I legit remember crying myself to sleep the day I saw on TV the first episode where an Earthbound God based on the Nazca Lines appeared. Sometimes people don't REALLY understand unless they've gone through racism or prejudice as a kid how important representation ACTUALLY IS? ;w; like... yall have no idea how much of an impact that made on me! All of a sudden the language of my country 🇧🇴 was IN YUGIOH! IN MY FAVORITE SHOW!!! Like??? I was SO HAPPY ;W;o !

It was as if for the first time, someone was telling me that they love my culture and that they thought it was cool! All of a sudden, EVERYONE was just looking up Incan culture and myths and it was AWESOME! People in the 5D's fandom OMG I remember, they would come to me specifically and ask me to PLEASE help them pronounce the Earthbound God's names correctly & when I saw how people really made an effort to help understand the myths,lore,history behind all these Incan Duel Monsters. I was just over the moon. I remember never wanting 5D's to end cuz I wanted to stay in this happy time period for me 💙 So I'm super grateful to 5D's for making me feel visible, accepted, empowered & encouraged to share my culture with others ;u;! To most people, 5D's is just an anime about card games on motorcycles. But to me, it's a show that helped me feel like I belong. And I'm just so extremely happy about that. Eheh... I'm kinda cryin a bit right now looking back at all this. And I never talked about this in like... years! Since 5D's came out TTwTT but yeh Im super emotional today. I love 5D's so much. I dunno if anyone else feels this way.

That's why when I see any anime character that is foreign (lookin at you Cecil Aijima) I always feel so attached to them immediately. Or anyone who feels like an outsider for any reason (lookin at you Fuya Okudaira) I guess, it's just my way of saying, hey buddy, I know what you're goin through. I love you, you're valid! Be yourself! Everything is gonna be ok! Just like how 5D's told me these things years ago by making my culture mainstream ;u;! Yeh.

A UtaPri Q to answer

“How Long did it take you to like HEAVENS?” THIS is an interesting question to answer because we need to do the backstory how we got here and also compare them to say...QN and STARISH (or more specifically the individual members of the two in a way) Wanna go on a trip?  LET’S GO!

So If we take a look at S1 of UtaPri (1000%) we had an interesting landscape.  I say this because of the fact that literally I knew NOTHING about any of the characters that would be included in this series at the time and when I say “nothing” I mean jack squat.  The reason for this is because I wanted my reaction to the characters in the show to be genuine and I refused to let any “outside influence” persuade me one way or the other. I can tell you this too...the characters I liked then were almost different to whom I like now which is interesting. Like if you made me literally break it down for you it went something like this Masa ,Tokiya and Otoya were locks (especially Tokiya cos his reactions to how he had to handle having Oto as a roommate were priceless) Ren was in the category of “You annoy the shit out of me but I’m going to see what you got to show me” And then you had Syo and Natsuki that ,for whatever reason, weren’t exactly high on my faves list...more like on the outs (spoiler:  As far as the ANIME goes this doesn’t change...Shining Live I actually enjoy Syo and Natsuki more) and there were reasons but even I couldn’t tell you what they were.  I think a big one is cos ,for me, Syo just wanting to fight people cos of his height (which was a big thing in Season 1 and 2 to a lesser extent) was kind of ridiculous so that grated me.  Natsuki well...we know the reason as I make no bones that I was NEVER a fan of the “Satsuki Persona” and that just grated me (although his event story with Ren is cute af and if you never read it then SHAME ON YOU!) You will note that I conveniently leave out Cecil (sorry @baku5ds) but that was because ,at THIS POINT, while the cat storyline was an important one (and it was) and then his first appearance near the end of the season and I was just like “I need to see what the heck your angle is” Now as we know come Season 2 I liked Cecil a lot (he almost “replaced” Tokiya in the top tier but I still enjoyed him) but there was one other change Ren ,whom had been on my s**t list in Season 1, showed his maturity for me and we kind of came to an understanding ESPECIALLY after his reconciliation with Seiichirou.  THAT really helped me with him but every one else kind of stayed the same (and I was fine with this). When we got to Season 2 also we had two new groups added to the fray QUARTET NIGHT and HEAVENS Now full disclosure:  While I never really paid attention to the blurbs that were wrote on the UtaPri wikipedia page for STARISH or any other characters the ones I DID read were for QN...I actually read theirs more before I started Season 1 and when I first read the name “Ai Mikaze” and then “Aoi Shouta” my first thought was “Is this a woman?” (Before we go any further I would like to formally apologize to Shoutan for thinking he was a “she”.  For some reason I sometimes hear voice pitches and it screws me up so there we go) Now in QN there weren’t really any members that made me want to throttle them (save Reiji) and I really loved Ai and also the Baron himself in Camus and if there needs to be a breakdown of why Camus well Long hair occasional megane Royalty Good enough...aight! Alright I half told a lie about STARISH...there was ONE member I think I read their blurb the most and IT WAS Nats believe it or not...yet he was one of the two I didn’t really care for...aight! The wild card in ALL of this comes when I meet HEAVENS for the first time as a trio and we know them by now but what the hell I’ll list them out Kira Sumeragi Nagi Mikado Eiichi Otori NOW...if you were to go back into my archives (and have fun with that) you would know that I wasn’t always the biggest fanboy of HEAVENS and I wanted to see them get theirs in the end...well they did and I was happy even if the ending of Season 2 was confusing as all hell! Now this kind of brings us to the question which is “How long did it take me to like HEAVENS?” Here’s why After I saw HEAVENS lose the first time in my mind I was like this “Well these three lost and now Eiichi got knocked down a peg so now can I consider rooting for them at some point later and if so what will cause it?” Now keep this in mind when you read that 1.  HEAVENS had no Canon information on them so building sympathy was going to be harder 2.  It actually took me TWO full viewings of Season 2 (before Season 3 ever aired) to really come to the idea that I might want to really get in THEIR CORNER because watching them get beat stopped being fun THEN! (That second point is going to come into play real quick...just wait) Season 3 happens and we have QN and STARISH battling it out to see whom is going to win the spot to rep the Shining Agency for Super Star Sports (from this point on the “Triple S”) and in the final episode of Season 3 (6/27/2015) HEAVENS reappears as a 7 member group.  Now I think here is where things get a little weird with the fandom because people say they are “still new” and stuff like that.  I would like to remind people of something HEAVENS is a 5 year old group.  You use the ORIGINAL date they debuted vs. when they became a 7 member group and that’s how it goes.  Its weird to me because when you look at the fan art for STARISH I think there was one that celebrated them being 7 years old but I also saw one where they had acknowledged HEAVENS being 3 years old...that’s NOT how it works in the Music industry but I digress When we were getting ready for Season 4 I had “officially” made the decision that I wanted to see what Broccoli did with HEAVENS and I wanted to see what their role in Season 4 would be.  Now we know how HEAVENS was treated both in the Anime and on this website during the whole season and it was the first time I ever got legit angry but that was a culmination of things  - I had wondered WHY the fandom ignored the times that a HEAVENS member was under distress like when Shion flipped out even Eiichi getting manhandled by his dad...the latter there were people that legit believed Eiichi DESERVED that because of “what happened to Otoya” (despite us knowing that he didn’t mean for that to happen and he basically stated such the following episode after NEXT DOOR)  - The other thing is that it felt like the fandom just never wanted to see HEAVENS happy...yeah I’m saying it and I don’t care who gets mad.  I know there were some that wanted the best for them but they always got drowned out by the people that LOVED STARISH so much that if something negative happened to HEAVENS I bet they were happy Then of course EVERYONE knows about my thoughts and feelings about 6th stage and why I thought that was a complete dumpster fire and I still do.  That show is one I pretty much ignore it unless you show me the intro from QN because...Maeno! Now HEAVENS has had some positives (although they get consistently overshadowed by STARISH in most cases) HEAVENS has had a group single go to #3 on the Oricon chart (and beat STARISH no less) A Drama CD unto themselves that went to #5 on the same chart (but unlike the Anime single this one dropped like a rock after the fact) They also had their own birbs and now they DO have bears and Eiichi has his own plush (which I still want for damn sure) and next year they will start their own web radio show and store...although unlike the Shining Store theirs isn’t going to be separate and instead its going to be a part of an Animate store which...not sure how I feel about that (oh yeah and Shuffle Units they are with a QN/Starish member and you know they are gonna get buried again...fuck I wrote a fic about my displeasure for it when I had Camus beat the **** out of Eiji!) Here is going to be my period on all of this YES...HEAVENS has the movie single ,the shuffle units and even are going to be involved in Dolce Vita...this is GREAT! Here is my problem They have always been treated like 3rd class citizens by both Broc and the fandom and they deserve better and we all know this to be fact BUT as it appears if you are a HEAVENS fan on any social media you get run off because of the fact that we have this “Seniority complex” bull shit!  HEAVENS and their fans deserve a lot more than we get and one thing we definitely deserve is our “moment” because I’m sorry but STARISH got theirs HOW MANY TIMES...AND I LIKE MEMBERS OF STARISH BUT SHIT MAN! People have asked me before why I like HEAVENS...I have said this in video form but I will do it again for new people Because there are things about each member that is literally a part of me Eiji is the shy kid to a degree...I can relate to that Yamato had his issues with his brother...you have NO IDEA how I relate to that and in his case he was the younger...for me I’m the older one! Shion is shy/anxious around new people...I REALLY can get with that for sure (and I have had my share of freakouts like he did...never hid in a closet though) Van loves him some baseball...I used to too (and with me my sport of choice to really watch is Hockey oddly enough) Nagi is smart as a tack and sassy af...I at least relate to the whole thing with his smarts...and some would say the sass too I’m sure! The BIG one though is Eiichi because you have NO IDEA the shit I went through with my mother many years ago and the times she decided to get physical with me...we won’t even talk about one of my grandparents and his short fucking temper!  If you wonder why I am always quick to protect Eiichi there we go! Do we get it yet?  Like I LOVE HEAVENS because I probably share more personality traits with them or experiences than I ever could say STARISH...then again there are the members I like there for different reasons and the big one was Tokiya because he (kind of like Camus to a degree) was someone that was organized and was good at getting shit done...yeah that is kind of me right there (and I am working on the “getting shit done” part). When people say about HEAVENS you “need more time” I respond like this It is 2018 and soon to be 2019...you have had over 5 years and a total of 18 episodes to figure the fuck out whether or not you were going to like them or not.  It LITERALLY only took me two watches of S2 and the duet project of S4 to figure out that I was going to “Ride and Die” with HEAVENS and for me that is where I will mark my grave and die with my boots on. Maybe there are some of you that need just a little bit more (and genuinely which I can respect) but I wonder if when people say “I need more time” its just a way of saying “I will NEVER like them” This is just something I wanted to write about for a while and now I did and I enjoyed writing this...good therapy! I’ll be back in the near future with a brand new fic I promise!

Life after D.C. It’s a bitch right? Well… Its more like a bittersweet bitch. I’m not sure if I ever shared this story, or it’s even relevant… But I’ll spin it in favor of the episode as much as possible. It’s a long one, buckle up. Back in my ‘Rave Days’ (yes, when Raves were actually Raves… And no one ever uttered the disgusting three letter acronym EDM)… We used to grab a flyer and jar of pills or sheet of LSD and take off driving to a random city that was throwing the best party or had the best looking flyer tacked on to the 'Party Wall of Fame’ at our local vinyl shop. There was a party at the D.C. Tunnel and we had to go, the flyer was literally a 5-Page booklet! We booked a room right smack dab in the middle of D.C, amongst the monuments and touristy tourist attractions, and let me tell you… It was FANTASTIC… But when we got to the rave it was in the mother fn’ ghetto… We parked by train tracks and headed over to the tunnel. This was seriously wrong turn area, but there were several thousand people at the party, surely this was a safe place to park the car right?

We got into the venue and sold what drugs we had, I wanted Acid badly, I was dead set on it… Nigel Richards & Skylab 2000 were playing that night, TJR was bringing the Acid House in a side room, and there were some Hardcore & Happy Hardcore legends there (Rob Gee & DJ Storm, it’s weird how I remember those little details so vividly - Major points to anyone who knows these DJ’s) and I wanted to be tripping balls. We met some guy who was really 'nice’ (not PLUR nice, but nice enough, he certainly wasn’t dawning a tee-shirt that said 'I Eat Kandy Kids’ like I did) and he really did seem totally legit… We bought several hits (a few too many, where were you Dansafe?), but once we figured out they were bunk, lil man was nowhere to be found. Fuck it! So what?! We may have been drugless in DC’s notorious Club Drug palace but there were rooms and rooms filled with East Coast’s finest Party Kids and there legendary DJ’s for days… We weren’t going to let that get us down. One of the people we were with had eaten a bunch of the rolls we sold and he was absolutely FACED. We danced all night, but I wore quickly and eventually wanted to hit an after party or the hotel to wind down into chill mode. We get back to the car, and mind you, we were just 20 minutes from the hotel but we were like 9-10 hours from where we were living at the time… The car greeted us with a somber tale… It had been broken into and the whole passenger side window had been shattered to pieces. No other cars around us appeared to have been hit. My immediate reaction was 'Oh shit! My Rare CD collection!’, but they had left every last CD and literally everything of value in the car except for an Outkast Hoodie that had been purchased at a concert… WTF?! It wasn’t mine, but I was to be the one to sit in the passenger seat, and now the kid who was rolling balls had no hoodie… And this was November in DC. At least there was some silver lining… It wasn’t my hoodie! Keep up, y'all: *Robbed Twice*

The neighborhood was… uhm… sketchy, to say the least, but I wasn’t going to sit in a damn car that was full of glass with frigid cold air smacking me in the face, so we stopped at the closest gas station to clean up and patch the window up with some duct tape and some plastic bags… A decision I very much regretted later due to the decibel levels of the plastic bags waving in the wind on the highway on the way home. Our friend who was rolling was walking around this VERY sketchy gas station at 5am in the hoodiest HOOD in DC and suddenly I look up and he’s walking over to us with two thugs. “Hey these guys have some 'Harry Potters’! He says they’re dank!” (Yes we said things like that back then.) We were just robbed twice, and these guys looked more likely to sell you crack than ecstasy, so I personally politely declined… But our rolling, hoodie-less friend couldn’t resist. They make a transaction and he heads back to the car with an open pack of Newports that supposedly contained 5-6 Harry Potters and some weed… But upon inspection it was revealed to be stuffed full of actual dryer lint from a public dryer. You could tell because of the boxy nature of the lint and… JUST BECAUSE. Anywho… You’ve been counting right?: *ROBBED THREE TIMES IN ONE NIGHT!*

Despite the bullshit, the party was fantastic and we made the noisy and *very cold* 10 hour ride home the following day. That’s D.C. in a nutshell, you can get robbed 3 times in one night and still have the time of your life and even end up going back again and again. The whole city is weird and Baltimore is even worse, just ask Melanie Griffith’s 'Honey Whitlock’ in John Waters’ 'Cecil B. DeMented’, you know, before the weird Stockholm Syndrome she developed alongside a fetish for Outlaw Cinema and 'Celibacy for Celluloid’. Never seen it? Don’t ask! But if you read my reviews and tolerate stories like these when I should be reviewing Veep to a tee, then you really should be brushed up on your Waters’ films!

THE POINT IS, and yes there is a point… Is that no matter what terrible thing happens to Selina Meyer in, around, or about Washington DC, she’ll never be able to shake it. Believe it or not D.C. Is a tough city for the poor and a tough city for the elite. America’s capital was once the poster city for the Crack Epidemic in the 80’s, but it bounced back. And D.C. itself is like crack, it gets you high as fuck, it’s pointless, it ruins your life, but once your low on it, all you can think about is more… That’s exactly where Selina Meyer is in her career. She’s a hot fucking mess who has proverbially robbed three times in one night, Mike is the rolling kid in her backseat who bought fake drugs from thugs at a seedy gas station (in this case tho, he bought Asian kids over the internet), and all she can think about is repairing her window and making an epic fucking comeback. Did I at least halfway edge that story into Veep’s 6th’s Season’s 2nd episode 'Library’?! If you said no, you must’ve never spent any quality time in DC then or the generational gap is REAL! But looking at the age group numbers that watch this show, I believe that there are probably mainly 'Me’s��� that are watching the show.

Long winded, real-life tragic party story turned Selina Meyer metaphor aside, I’m *really* liking this slightly more shrill 6th Season. Everything they are doing with Jonah is brilliant. The only thing that would have been better than seeing him bomb the only 4 matches of dates they found for him, would be a speed-dating session ala low budget reality show. That would fucking slay. We have a core narrative starting to spread its wings and show its blueprints, and the whole tone of the show feels far more menacing… Everything from Chlumsky and Bakkedahl’s delivery to Selina and Gary’s raw desperation. These bitches are thirsty, but the jokes are landing like Amy Schumer at a show at The Apollo after she watched a marathon of 'The Greatest Comics of All Time’s Best Moments Most People Won’t Remember’. I really hope none of that flew over your heads. I seriously doubt it would. Veep is the smartest comedy on television and it’s audience is very niche. That’s why I feel comfortable dropping bombs like this Review/'Bullshit Aftershow’ in your lap after an episode like 'Library’. In its character’s darkest hours, 'Veep’ shines like it’s in its finest… And that’s why I love this show to itty bitty little tiny pieces.

alright, so. today was fine. I woke up to my alarm at 11:45 am (I know, I know...) and got ready to go to PT at the new place. It was actually kinda warm today, in the 80s, so I opted to take the bus a few stops down to it rather then walking, though I’ll probably try to walk in the future. Got there, filled out some paperwork, and got called back. talked about the pain for a bit, then went through some exercises to see what works and what doesn't. I’m always amused when they’re like “okay bend down and try to touch your toes” and I just go down and touch them like it’s nothing, and they’re always like “wow, your flexible” and then as the eval went on and he’s like bending my leg around with no reaction from me and he’s like “wow, you’re really flexible....” I just always find it so amusing that that’s always the reaction from people. So we did some muscle work and went over some exercises, and I have another appointment for Thursday. he seemed optimistic about us being able to make progress, so that’s encouraging. Once I got out of there I needed to run to Target to pick up a prescription, so I had to figure out the best way to get there. Target is directly southeast from my apartment, so I generally either take the bus down the road near me south and then walk the rest of the way east because it’s difficult to find a bus that goes that route, or I walk the way east and then catch the bus south on the further road. Since I was already a bit south, I just walked east and then took the bus the rest of the way south. Pretty quick target trip, got some Starbucks and got the prescription, then I was looking at the baking aisle (because it’s finals and I stress bake) where I picked up some mini m&ms made for cooking and a bag of toffee bits, because I’ve seen recipes calling for them but never actually seen them, so I figured it’d be a good thing to have. Grabbed granola bars and pretzels, then went through the clothes section, and I was tempted to buy soooo many things, and I couldn’t resist a wonder woman tank top that was only $9, I mean, how am I supposed to say no to that? I checked out and tried to see if I could get on a bus west so I wouldn’t have to walk, which is then just tricky coordinating with the bus going north. but I got on the west bus and right as we pulled up to the stop there were legit 3 buses on the north route stopped there, and when I got off the bus I signaled one of the bus drivers that I was coming over as soon as the light changed and I could walk across the street, and he was kind enough to wait. While I was standing there waiting for the light to change there’s a tap on my shoulder, so I turn around and I’m just kinda looking at this guy being like “....yes?” and he was like “what you don't remember me?” and then I was like “OHHHHH,” he was the guy from the train platform I met a few weeks back. We only got to say like two words to each other because the light changed and I had to run, but he was like “we should chat on facebook” so I was like yeah sure and got on the bus lol. So that was interesting, lol. Took the bus the rest of the way to my apartment, my roommate was home which was interesting because she usually works 9-5 during the week but she had a dentist appointment and then the afternoon off, so it was nice to see her for a bit. we both tend to have busy schedules so we don’t always see that much of each other. mmmm, something also happened regarding the situation at my undergrad going on with Title IX that I mentioned, I don’t want to give away too much information right now in case it somehow gets in the wrong hands, but I will definitely spill everything once it happens, and oh, is it going to be great. The reckoning they hav coming is long overdue. so I was happy about that. I went to the outline depot website and the ones I uploaded still hadn’t been accepted, so I sucked it up and paid the $20 for the outline, and upon opening I was like well if I had this I wouldn’t have bothered to print off my case briefs, because it’s an incredibly detailed version of literally all of them lol, clocking in at 90 pages, so I at least feel good about having that at least. I tried to print it, but my printer soon stopped working and of course, I was out of ink, because it can’t be finals without my printer running out of ink. I was momentarily frustrated, but then I realized I can print it at school tomorrow because I still have a ton of money left in my printer account at school, so this would be a perfect way to use that, so I was pleased with that. Afterwards I watched the first lecture video on secured transactions from the bar prep company, it was like 48 minutes, it was the intro so it was pretty basic but it was good stuff. They have 6 of them, so I’ll probably try to watch those over the next week. When it got close to 7 I moved over to the couch to watch The Flash. I had mixed feelings about the episode. I feel like it didn’t really advance the plot all that much, but I was very happy to see Marlize standing up to Clifford and walking out on that douche. I’m not sure how to feeling about the Cisco and Cynthia break up, we got barely anything from them this season so it didn’t feel like a very committed relationship anyway. I loved the stuff with Harry and Cecile, that was hilarious and brilliant. When the episode was over I watched Rise, which was a pretty good episode. They’re doing a much better job than Glee did in actually fleshing out their characters, though they don’t have nearly as many musical numbers as Glee did. I keep cracking up that the show they wanted to replace Spring Awakening with was Grease because that’s considered “unproblematic” which is fucking hilarious because Grease is dirty AF and contains half the stuff in Spring Awakening anyway, lol. But yeah, I liked the episode. After that was over I didn’t really have anything else I wanted to watch, so I turned the tv off and spent a few minutes on my computer before deciding I’d start getting ready for bed a bit earlier since I have to wake up earlier than normal tomorrow. I have my “exit interview” with the school at 9:45 am, then my civil rights final at 1:30. I’m not very concerned about the final, I know I aced the midterm and I feel like I have all the notes necessary to help me through, so I’m okay with that. And yeah, thats about right. It’s not that late but since I already took my melatonin like an hour ago I’m starting to feel sleepy, so I’m going to stop here. Goodnight my dears. Have a lovely Wednesday.

Let’s answer this

If someone asked me RIGHT NOW “Where are you in terms of UtaPri and the fandom?” That is arguably the most complicated question I would ever have to answer...and I took World Culture in High School!

Okay let’s be serious UtaPri is legit one of the few franchises that tests me mentally in the sense of Figuring out Broccoli’s next move with Merch What they could do gamewise What is going to happen with the Anime Information on other projects (Shining Masterpiece/Theater ,DVDs ,Stage shows etc.) What the next step in the universe would be as a whole with the different units and COULD THEY CREATE MORE...I never discussed this one but its something I had been thinking about Its also one of the few that has allowed me to mess with the Canon and treat groups that might not have been treated fairly and write them in ways that I enjoy...matter of fact SPOILER TIME but one of the next fic works coming this month is my yearly Birthday concert but with a twist that you’ll see for the first time when the birthday comes up. It HAS also been one of the more frustrating fandoms lately that I have been in/dealt with and I’m not going to bullshit it anymore. History Lesson So back in 2013 (and more specifically near the end of it I discovered a gif of one of the characters from the series...at the time I had no idea who it was and ,if you remember, Tumblr made an update that hid the tags unless you went in the post on a person’s blog (generally the OP) and found out what it was.  In this case it was Ren Jingugji of STARISH whom I found out was voiced by Junichi Suwabe.  That name sounded familiar and I discovered he was in BroCon as the brother Kaname whom was a Monk (and also a womanizer...there’s a comho) (Also if I got the occupation for Kaname wrong I apologize.  I could have sworn that was his occupation but its been a while since I watched the series so forgive me on the mistake if there was one) Well after this discovery about UtaPri I went and looked it up on my favorite website (okay second...ANN is first anymore) in Wikipedia and I discovered it was a Otome/Visual Novel game and that intrigued me...what intrigued me more was researching some of the characters and at the time legit five intrigued me Natsuki Shinomiya of STARISH and the whole of QN QN was interesting because ,since I was just discovering UtaPri at this point, I knew jack about them...but I wanted to see what I could learn about them from observation/  Legit the ONLY SPOILER I retained at the time was that Ai was programmed with the memory of Aine or something of that effect...again its been a good while. Season 1 I watched through DVD and if you go through this blog you will see that I did two different blogs on that and Season 2.  When I did Season 2 that was through the site crunchyroll and I remember at the time I was talking with someone using the “Fan Mail” option (hey tumblr staff bring that back will ya...I actually liked that option) and before I got to Season 2 someone had told me about Camus.  The reason for this was because I mentioned (at the time) I despised Ren’s character for being a womanizing playboy that didn’t give a s**t about being an idol.  Now yes that was actually wrong but it was the thing I remembered from my first watch through (which was when the conversation with the tumblr user occurred). Before we discuss Season 2 you have to know this.  Because I knew at the time info would be readily available on the “initial 6″ (Cecil wasn’t in STARISH yet) legit the only one I remembered reading about was Natsuki and originally I thought I was going to enjoy his character...matter of fact for anyone that wants to know that doesn’t from S1 the “Best Boy” spot was something like this Tokiya (before Cecil has {BEEEEP]) Cecil And once the Season was rewatched it was Ren after realizing the crap he not only went through in Season 1 but then later in Season 2 HOWEVER Once Season 2 came about and QN was introduced anyone that knows me knows that my faves showed up in Ai and Camus (and also Ran)...Reiji I never could really embrace and I have TRIED!  Something about him I just can’t get with. (I know I know...I can’t deal with him but I have no issue with Myu right?  Yeah I’ve been working on that one for over 4 years and it ain’t easy) So Season 2 was ON FIRE! Legit all of the songs I could kind of embrace (I legit replayed Crystal Time all day for like 3 weeks straight if I remember...might have been shorter but it was a murderous loop trust me) and the story (for the most part) was a very light and funny tone from what I remembered.  Yeah there were the “heavy” moments but you didn’t want to have a nervous breakdown after the episodes ended...that was me in Season 4 when Episode 11 happened BUT ANYWAYS Season 2 was ALSO the introduction of the “Renegade Princes” in HEAVENS and around this time they were just a trio (June 6th would be the airdate and the “official” birthday of HEAVENS I guess?  I think some use the 27th of June so its funny) and I was like most people.  I wanted them to fall on their ass and never be seen again so we could get to the STARISH/QN part of the story (cos I legit watched the SSX OVA like 50 times and can damn near recite that fucker word for word if I remember scenes hard enough...I think it was the first time I saw Myu with glasses too!) Now here was the thing about HEAVENS AT FIRST I was like the fandom like “Look at these jackasses.  All they want to do is start shit and cause problems for STARISH so they need their ass beat” and well they did lose and I think I remember the first time being REALLY HAPPY about it but I think around the second time I THINK (and I would have to go back through my notes) I was less harsh on them.  I know by the time I got to their debut episode (and I finished it) a THIRD TIME I had no issues with them left...then again this might have been during the space between Season 3 and 4. Actually...yeah the third watch was between Season 3 and 4 cos I wanted to see how the “Original Trio” acted and then I would compare that with the “new boys” later.  If I remember right (cos I am trying to NOT rewrite history) when I first saw the “Fully Powered” HEAVENS The one I probably took the most issue with was Van (sorry @baku5ds) but it was because he reminded me of Ren from Season 1 and I wanted to deck his ass...still kind of want to punch him then for acting like a knob but he’s aight now! Season 4 was going to be an interesting time for me See before Season 4 started I remember asking people how they thought the season was going to go and they thought it would go like this HEAVENS would lose (well they were initially DQ’d so kind of right) and then it would be down to STARISH and QN with HEAVENS as background characters (which is what they were in Season 3 cos we didn’t see them again till the new 7 showed up). When we found out it was going to be duets between STARISH and HEAVENS it became interesting for me because remember this:  Because I watched legit the initial debut for the Trio (and their subsequent loss) twice a part of me wanted to see what Broc would do FOR THEM because I personally had kind of “been there/done that” with STARISH and I learned as much as I could for three seasons and dealing with their personalities...nothing wrong with that but after a while you need to interject new characters to freshen up a series. One thing I remember being asked was basically this “How can you like HEAVENS when you don’t know about them?” (That’s not the question verbatim but considering this question was on skype legit now over 2 years old I dunno if I can find it again) We have to remember that around the time of Season 2 (when I watched it) I legit only remembered Ai’s part of the wikipedia entry so...why should I have liked QN? I really DIDN’T read the STARISH part of the wikipedia entry so why have liked them? See the way I work as a fan is through observation and I see what I see and then make my judgements based on that.  I STILL think that the School staff was borderline antagonistic (all of them and that includes Shining) and when STARISH officially got to debut with Nanami as the composer I smiled cos in the end the “bad guys” (even if they really weren’t) “got theirs” What I got legit curious about was this during Season 4 Even if my opinion and a STARISH fan’s opinion on HEAVENS never matched up could we have that civil discussion to say “okay you don’t like them that’s cool but please respect that I do” We all know about the “3 weeks of hell” and I won’t relive those but those were the WORST 3 weeks of my life.  I legit think I damn near had a headache that lasted that entire stretch I was that annoyed cos I could legit see the story in front of me but everyone else was like “Nah fam...that ain’t true” then HEAVENS lost in the Triple S after their perseverance of dealing with “Daddy’s bulls**t” and I don’t know if I was more annoyed about that or the prior weeks with the “EiiOto Mess” and the rest of the duet project cos in my head I knew one part of the fandom would be THRILLED while the other would be annoyed...I think anyone that knows me knows where i was to the point someone made a stalk account on twitter to try and get on me...didn’t work cos I know how to block people! ANYWHO! I’m going to try and keep the rest of this brief af...I say try so we won’t go over 6th stage (and how I thought that was a trainwrck...maybe I was too harsh back then to be honest) but I do want to discuss this Whenever I hear (and others I know) that “HEAVENS’ role is only to make STARISH better” I half ass chuckle because if we are talking about groups to make STARISH BETTER well...there was QN and then STARISH was again kind of like “Nah fam” and we know what happened. I dunno that I am annoyed with the fanbase...matter of fact I can almost tell you flat out I’m not but if I had a gripe with the “Western/International” base it felt more like at times y’all didn’t want there TO BE fans of the “Renegade Princes” because I know a friend of mine made a VERY INNOCENT post when it came to Shining Live and HEAVENS and they asked “What would the HEAVENS fans want in Shining Live for them” and I remember the Anons and how they were kind of rude...not a good way to grow a fanbase kids. Let’s be clear on this and I’m going to try and make this brief I don’t hate STARISH nor their fans I don’t hate QN or their fans (obviously I am one) I’m more frustrated because you see when you are someone like me who IRL dealt with a lot of s**t and was an underdog his whole life I always root for them...I want to see that upset! I think I would have enjoyed STARISH’s story a bit more IF they showed that they could “take it on the chin” one time and then go “Okay we lost that round...let’s give it hell next time!” I know they technically COULDN’T do that with the story they were telling but don’t you think that Suwabe right?  He worked on KnB and he could have said “Well look...in this series my school beat the main school (Seirin) and then they came back eventually and beat us...couldn’t we do something like that?” Irony before anyone says anything is he ,SuzuKen ,Kishow ,OnoD ,to a lesser extent Shimono and Tatsun (might have been more...I think Toriumi was on Suwabe’s team) all knew what happened but I think because of certain issues they HAD to write UtaPri where STARISH was basically unstoppable...best guess It gets frustrating sometimes to be a fan of the series (less so for me now that I play on the JP account more full-time now) and you want...really all of the groups to do well but you know you really want your group to do well.  It also somewhat gets upsetting when you ask people “Would you watch a season that was just HEAVENS?” and then they tell you they would skip it...never mind that you watched effectively 2 full seasons of the “main group” but EYYY I dunno I think I get agitated and I know there are others that do too.  I would NEVER just turn my back on the franchise because I love it but I think I just wish that HEAVENS got repped well on this site and even facebook better than I feel like they do.  I think sometimes they will never get this “stigma” of being an “antagonist” off of them and that sucks...but for some people the “first impression is the one that lasts” so I can’t fault that anymore I guess In closing I don’t think I could ever leave UtaPri behind but all I want is what is best for my boys and hopefully their day is coming very soon Au Revoir!

So here’s a thought

I’ve been looking on the wikipedia entry for Uta no Prince-Sama to see if they mentioned ANYTHING about the new project for the Anime.  So far that would be a big fat NO! Okay...no problem but a part of me started to wonder WHY Well I have a possible idea You see...when S3 was announced (Then just known as “3000%”) someone had apparently let it slip that S3 would be in 2015 (which it was) and S4 (which was then called “4000%”) would be in 2016.  Now what’s funny is ALL DURING S3 people were saying that THAT was going to be the final season of the Anime but we found out otherwise and the end card said “SEE YOU NEXT SEASON” after also a “TO BE CONTINUED...” was shown before that! WELL...LOOK WHERE WE ARE NOW! Its been a month since Season 4 of UtaPri has ended and now we have the end card which said “Uta no Prince-Sama new Animation Project starts NOW!” but what’s interesting is that, while this was reported by ANN we never saw it added in any way to the Wikipedia page. Here’s why I think they haven’t done that Because of the accidental leak of Season 4 for last year A-1 and Broccoli want to keep tight lipped on it...the problem is between the time that this past season ended (December 25th JST) to when 6th stage is (May 27th JST) there are A LOT of things that need to be answered and the sooner the better! One thing I have seen a lot on twitter lately is they seem to be REALLY BEHIND HEAVENS with the amount of fan art I keep retweeting cos there are some AMAZING Artists on there that its mindblowing and a part of me is wondering if Broccoli is looking to see how many people are making art and such for them to show their support before they make their next move with them.  I can see that for sure because look...HEAVENS right now is a HUGE gamble considering that they are one of the more polarizing groups in UtaPri BUT they also are some of the most complex characters with one of the darkest stories I’ve seen in four seasons and in about 20 years of Anime! Like okay forget for a second that they are rivals of STARISH and QN for a second...was there ANY character (in the current game canon) that suffered abuse from their parents?  If there is then fine I respect that but at the same time think about what Eiichi and Eiji have gone through with Raging?  Its not a hard story to tell with them to show that they need to be rallied behind ESPECIALLY after they nearly got disbanded in S2, got DQed for improper entry into the first Election AND THEN they dealt with a lot of headaches with Raging (and even a few here and there from STARISH when Cecil pushed Shion over his tipping point and Ren...he’s debatable). Like HEAVENS’ “Redemption Arc” is an easy story to tell but its got A LOT of layers to it you know and its a story that we need to see to its ultimate conclusion and I think we will!  That conclusion will be HEAVENS getting their “Utlimate Triumph” at some point but the when and how...that’s TBD! But this brings me back to why I think people are hesitant to add any new info about the new project...because if someone leaked it IMAGINE the problems that would arise AND...if its a HEAVENS solo season or a HEAVENS/QN season (which IS going to happen at some point just because of the way Broc has done things in the past) what will the outcome be with the fan base? Embrace or run away? What’s funny is that judging by what I see a lot of on twitter they are embraced more and more by the Japanese fanbase which is a good thing!  I’d like to see that with the Western base but maybe they are waiting to see if they get a game and what the story arcs for each character are like.  I can respect that but I do wonder if this “wait and see” attitude is going to hurt them because of the fact that if people aren’t embracing them over here already then maybe they won’t pull the trigger on them.  You would think that shouldn’t matter but remember that the official twitter for UtaPri has been hardcore acknowledging the International fans and with now the Seiyuus openly acknowledging the male base (Thank you Ren and Reiji) then are HEAVENS going to be the group they use to keep people like me interested? The last statement was something I have been wondering for a good while because you see with UtaPri starting to cultivate a male fandom are they going to start to look for ways to keep them interested?  One way might be a more...”mature themed” group like HEAVENS (not saying QN or STARISH aren’t mind you) and expanding their stories from their own seasons and games!  Its entirely possible because when I heard “6th stage” after the first episode my first thought was “we got a Season 5 coming soon” and I still believe it!  The question always comes back to THIS though “Who’s in it?” Its POSSIBLE that it could be a STARISH/QN season because of Dolce Vita coming up which...okay fine I can respect that but at the same time are you saying you will abandon HEAVENS?  Yes the Merch is nice don’t get be wrong but giving their fan base a legit season or game would also help boost the confidence too! One thing that I think really helps HEAVENS’ case is this! On the Oricon Charts for their first week they were almost always in the top 10 with a peak of 3 on the daily chart.  I think they were like #4 or so on the weekly chart which is damn good and QN that week was in #2 Oh and here’s one also On Billboard Japan for New Year’s Day BOTH HEAVENS and QN were in the top 5 QUARTET NIGHT were #2 HEAVENS was #5 CLEARLY there is something to the pop of both groups...not sure how STARISH has done with any of their singles on there so if anyone knows please message me My point is there might be something to the longevity of the series if you make the new rivalry HEAVENS/QN BUT this time I think it would almost be BETTER if HEAVENS got the final victory for one reason If any story in the end deserves some kind of Happy End in UtaPri its HEAVENS for all they went through and fans like me had to watch! But this brings us back full circle now Are Broccoli holding out on HEAVENS to see how the fanbase reacts?  If so...is there enough POSITIVE momentum for them to keep going? One way to find out...May 27th at 6th Stage!
