hi everyone! i've decided to do a lil halloween event where you guys can request from different prompts. you don't have to request a prompt listed below, but i can't guarantee i'll write what you request so it'll be better to choose one from below!

please also keep it to a maximum of 2 characters at a time just so i don't get overwhelmed with too many characters at once. with that request to your hearts content and i hope you have fun!

the fics will be posted throughout october, but i will close requests early in case i get too many requests in at once so the earlier you request the better!<3

“do you think we can summon my mom’s ghost?” oriana knew very little about ghosts. they’d never really cared about ghosts, about the dead, during their years at hogwarts, and certainly not enough to actually dig into the subject. now, after the death and decay that had marked the world that they called home, they wanted nothing more than to push it all away, to ignore that reality and the sticky grief that clung to them. but on halloween night, more than a little drunk, and with sybill at the front of their mind, well, “god, she’d probably still find a reason to tell me i’m destined to die.”

“i love your costume!” daisy said. by then, she was far enough into the party that she was a little drunk, tipsy at the very least. when she spoke, she was a bit too loud, even taking into account the volume of the party. “it’s so colorful!”

“shit.” augustine dropped her drink, some atrocious orange and radioactive looking candy cane-flavored cocktail. the glass luckily didn’t shatter but the bright orange drink spilt across the ground. “you didn’t see that.”

You know of the house on Elmview just as everyone does: through the wraith-like whispers of its origin, a favoured topic for stories of hauntings or high contemplations. It was once a vision fit for postcards, but it is now singled out as an eyesore behind an industrial-heavy steel fence dug deep into the frozen earth around it. Once a year, the gates are left unlocked. No, not just unlocked, but slightly ajar: an invitation. 

The rumour finds you first, as you shed gloves and warm your fingers over the hum of an old radiator in a coffee shop tucked off campus. It’s a conversation between two baristas behind the counter that catches your attention (townies always seem to know things first), they whisper with a buzzing excitement that in the last week of the first month of the year, there would be a party at 573 Elmview. It is information shared like all gossip is designed for: the spread of a wildfire. You tell your roommate, who tells her lab partner, who tells their boyfriend, who tells his friends, and before you know it you can trace this live wire at your feet from campus to town, to the splitting porch of the ancient house.

The host is a mystery, but the list of attendants has its own magnetic pull, and you can’t help but admit a party like this has its own gravity. You know what they say, how the cold is bound to seep through the shoddy, animal-eaten insulation, and the creak of worn floors. But you’ll go anyway, following behind the first brave attendee to get swallowed up into that old dead house. You’ll go, because there is no way you could live a promised night like this second hand.

“what are you wearing?” oriana really wasn’t the one to judge halloween costumes, not when they wore what amounted to a normal outfit but with a bit of halloween added to it. they looked at dennis’s costume, eyebrow furrowed in confusion. “does putting animal ears on count as a halloween costume?”

daisy found herself sprawled across a couch in one of the downstairs rooms. time crept later and later. and by then, daisy was a little drunk and a little tired. but the walk back to place and the rest of the night spent there, the thought of it all exhausted, left her restless and buzzing. she sat up suddenly, looked at another person in the room. she spoke, words rushed and voice pitched just a hair higher than normal, “do you want to hear a scary story?”

“candy?” it didn’t fit with her costume, not at all matching the golden aesthetic she’d taken on for the night, but daisy carried around two store bought bags of halloween candy—the cheap and fun-sized sort. and much of her night had been spent eating it or offering it. she held one of the bags out to antigone. “i think i bought too much.”

“i’m a little disappointed that these are just drinks.” daisy held a themed cocktail in hand, the drink itself a dark, deep red and fake fangs perched on the side of the glass. “i heard that last year one of the clubs gave their drinks a magical twist.” she said, a smile on her face. “it just sounds fun.”

“is that a real rat?” augustine asked, gesturing towards the rat stuffed animal that sat on nazli’s shoulder. anywhere else, without the dim lighting that characterized the party, she might have noted that the rat was a bit too still to be live. “did you bring a rat to a party?”

“fuck that, fuck that, fuck that!” augustine rushed out of the room, one of the slasher rooms, and shut the door behind her a bit too harshly. the door slamming echoed in the hall. she cleared her throat and tried to compose herself, tried to shake the fear that had gripped her. “the hosts are really fucking dedicated to the theme. just a warning.”

“what the fuck is this?” augustine held a bright orange drink up. it was an atrocious orange, she would go as far to say that it looked even a little radioactive. “who in the world would genuinely want this? a candy corn cocktail sounds like a nightmare.” of course, augustine was the one that had asked for, morbidly curious about exactly how it would turn out.
