kuronushi had always adored — loved kissing you. anywhere and at any time, boundless love continues to pour out of him in waves via words and, more favorably for him, actions.

the eccentric kasan cannot begin to explain how much he truly loves you, the unspeakable lengths he'll go to in order to prove and let you understand just how much he's infatuated with you. his muse, his loving darling, his only source of light in an otherwise dim life. he'll provide, he'll take, and it still wouldn't satisfy his very being that if it came down to giving away; he would.

only for you.

it is as such when he thinks about how those subtle sighs that roll off your lips, resounding so sweetly in his ears as he feathers chaste kisses to your neck, the way you'd lazily comb through his soft midnight locks as he delights himself to kissing your thighs oh so gently, leaving marks through gentle bites to your skin, relishing in the sight of you responding accordingly to one of his many loving gestures.

“i love you,” kuronushi often declared in the midst of restless nights, his embrace around you unwavering for even a moment as he only continues drawing you closer to his side, abandoning those scrolls he was writing on, abandoning that hot cup of tea you brewed for him ( as much as he wanted to drink it ), all in favor of relishing in your presence more and sneaking in a few kisses to your shoulder.

“i love you,” kuronushi often whispered against your skin, regardless of which part of your body his lips linger on. but nothing in inazuma's lands or beyond it could ever compared to the way he feels your lips curve up into a slight smile as those three simple words, weighed with so much emotion, roll off his lips and onto your own. with the cherry on top being your own deceleration left unsaid, shielded behind you entwining his lips with your own once again.

“i love you.” kuronushi often mused to his scroll as he sat beside you, watching you dote on a stray kitten who refused to leave your side, admiring the sight of your smile beneath the soft sunlight emitting from the cloudy sky above. and in the midst of your distraction with the little feline,

he leaned in, feathering a soft and lingering kiss to your cheek.

|| three little felines in a small crate was what you found on your way back home with groceries. the rain was heavy that day, and the little ones were practically looking at you with plea to take them back with you. and you did; determined to take care of them and naturally convince kuronushi to allow the kittens to stay with you two in your shared home.

additional notes. this mini series has been on my mind since my cat birthed three little menaces lmao but! while this concept was supposed to be with wanderer initially, i ended up going for kuronushi because why not~ and perhaps because i wanted to write a lot of fluff after the damage my kabukimono series has done (⁠；⁠^▽^)

out of the four — kuronushi is the least surprised one. but you do earn an amused yet warm smile out of him. his arms would envelope you in a soft embrace.

despite the calm disposition; you had his heart soaring in his chest. and truly, even if something was weighing on your mind, he would still reciprocate with a heartbeat because if there is one thing the kasan adores; it's spoil his loving darling with love.

“what’s with the sudden gesture, songbird?” he'd ask in a knowing tone, which earns him a slightly sweeter smile and for your gentle embrace to tighten slightly in response.

that was all he needed for an answer.

kabukimono undergoes the five stages of grief, but make it surprise.

first it would be him being the very embodiment of a statue as he remains still in place, rightfully taken aback. the second would have him internalizing that this is reality, he wasn't having another fleeting dream again. the third would leave him internalizing this some more as his arms subconsciously wrap around your figure. the fourth would be the stage of realization as a small smile adorns his face, a smile that eventually softens then brightens as the fifth stage would be him enthusiastically reciprocating the embrace.

“you startled me for a bit there,” the puppet would confess with a slight laugh, “is something wrong?”

“not at all,” you'd respond, your tone warm and reassuring as ever. which only makes his smile widen in sheer joy.

“i just wanted to give you a hug.”

out of the four — kunikuzushi is the most surprised one. the definition of a statue as his mind short circuits. the tension hugged him tighter in contrast to you, and he looks at you; confusion clouding the incredibly faint glimmer of curiosity in his eyes.

just what exactly is going on through your head this time to distract him from doing his nails? honestly, how annoyingly unpredictable could you get. but the balladeer digressed, choosing to situate a hand of his on your back. it was the best he could do for now.

“what is it?” he'd ask in a quiet tone, his gaze expressing indifference yet his touch on you is gentle and lingering as he brought you a little bit closer to him. his hand subconsciously trailing down to your lower back as your embrace grew warmer and more reassuring to him, causing the tension to leave his body bit by bit.

“nothing.” you replied, still maintaining that smile of yours as you felt his arm loosely wrap around you.

the wanderer is a bit of both kabukimono and kunikuzushi. sure, you suddenly decided to hug him while he was occupied with cooking lunch for the two of you and nahida, but the gesture wasn't unwelcome. neither was it unwanted.

he was still occupied with cutting the zaytun peaches and the bulle fruits for the little sprout, so how he reciprocates your embrace is by pausing his work and leaning his head slightly against yours, a slight smile adorning his face as he observes the way your expression brightens at his choice of how to reciprocate the gesture.

his lips sneakily find their way to plant a featherlight kiss to your head before he directs his attention back to slicing the bulle fruits into neat, ever so slightly uneven cuts. and the wanderer relishes in being able to feel your gaze on him, better yet, being in your arms from behind. but such words are feelings are better left unsaid.

after all, you are aware and so is he. what's the point in expressing such feelings through words?

eccentric squad hcs: birthdays.

kabukimono isn't too familiar with the concept. truthfully, he has heard about it, but never has he bore witness to the custom of celebrating the day. one thing the puppet has picked from you is to follow what he feels and believes to be right, and in this case; he's ensuring your smile stays radiant all the while he cooks your favorite meal. it's a simple gesture as he doesn't really have anything grand to offer, but the moment you are greeted with what he cooked for you with the help of katsuragi who gave him advice on making your favorite dessert on your humble dinner table alongside some tea, the smile that adorned his face couldn't possibly get any brighter.

kuronushi never really paid any mind to "such a thing" as he considers it. he rarely — actually never — celebrates his own birthday because the concept to him feels stale and not as intriguing. he prefers his solitude. but when you came into his mundane life; it was as if a million doors, each filled with many possibilities and new experiences have been opened for him. what was once such a stale thing was now held dear to him, never has ever thought of never providing you the joy you provide him. and so, as your birthday drew near, he ensures the best possible atmosphere in his favorite spot on kannazuka island; scrolls and ink brush in hand as he draws a portrait of you alongside writing a haiku for you. by the time you're home, you're immediately dragged to sit on his lap as he muses all about you.

kunikuzushi ( the balladeer ) quite frankly doesn't care. similar to kuronushi, he finds it stale but to the benevolent sixth harbinger; it is something he finds completely unnecessary. and again, similar to kuronushi, a lot of things have been opened once you stepped into his life — you make him happy in a way that feels sickening to him, the mere thought of you makes a foreign warmth envelope his chest and... honestly, those feelings you bestowed upon him are a hassle to deal with. yet here he is, taking you out on an unexpected "get-together" as he perceives it in your favorite café in snezhnaya. allowing you to order whatever you desire with it all on him; as he watches you treat yourself like you deserve all with a small smile hidden behind a cup of coffee. spoiling you despite your protests was indeed the best way he could go on about celebrating it for the time being.

the wanderer is a simple individual. while birthdays, just like his previous incarnations, is something he doesn't celebrate a lot if not at all — for you, he's willing to make both an exception and an effort. sewing has been something he returned to doing recently, and similar to how he done with a little fledgling he used to nurture; he sews a doll for you. two actually — one that looks a lot more like him that he insists you keep on your person while the other looks like you, which he keeps with his other companion residing under his hat. teasing him about how long it took will earn you a scoff out of him as he replies with a less than vague answer. but apart from that simple yet meaningful gift, he does it all while you're in his safe space, somewhere in the rainforest in which only the wind is witness to his immense love for you.

eccentric squad hcs: petnames and endearments.

kabukimono is surprisingly not one for petnames and endearments. at least not often. he adores hearing you address him by such, but he doesn't address you by anything apart from your name. you playfully inquired about why he doesn't address you the way you do him with petnames and endearments, but he only smiled; exclaiming about how your name is much too wonderful and better suits you than any other endearment out there. he doesn't address you by petnames, he prefers endearments; with his favorite to use being "dear." exactly the one you address him by often. as addresses you by such an endearment, a bright smile adorns his face at the sight of you smiling in response to it.

kuronushi is down bad enough to use every endearment and petname he believes suits you. he is an individual of words when it comes to you, and he loves you enough to be openly affectionate with you without a care of teyvat's sky. while you address him by nicknames and endearments more than petnames, he is a sucker for all three — never ceasing to leave you dumbfounded and at times a little touched by how much he truly thinks about you and which suits you best. his most frequently used are your nickname along with "love" and "darling." saying them with such love as he gently traces your jawline and smiles at the sight of that soft shade of red creep up to your cheeks and that ever familiar smile he so adores.

kunikuzushi ( the balladeer ) is at all not one for such a thing, deeming the gesture as of little to no significance to him. but surprisingly, he does have a nickname for you. albeit something he uses very rarely, he does address you by said nickname when you happen to be down. if you have the courage to read his journal that he rarely writes in ( you did read a bit ) he muses about using the same tactic you use as a signifier that he's in trouble, but backwards; while you address him as "kunikuzushi" to signify he's in for a bit of trouble, he uses endearments for you as a signifier that you are in deep trouble — all with a sly yet hallow smile as his hand find its way to rest on your shoulder as he whispers a husky, low spoken "my love" into your ear. honorable mention to "sweetheart" that he uses once in a blue moon.

the wanderer alternates a lot. mainly because it's very mood dependent on both your and his end, but it's more of the latter. he addresses you by name a lot more, but behind closed doors, he finds himself unable to suppress the desire to reciprocate every single time you address by his name, by an endearment, whatever it may be with so much love that it leaves his heart weighed down from how overwhelmingly good your love feels. that desire is never triggered until he holds you close or the other way around, doesn't matter, so long as he's held close to you — a small smile adorns his face as he watches that smile of yours widen whilst he holds you closer to him, his lips planting a soft kiss to the corners of yours. similar to 'nushi, "darling" is a common one for him. but if he's feeling particularly good, he uses either "doll" or "dollface."
