1. What's your oc's gender identity? What's their relationship to their gender?

Penemu is transmasc nonbinary and despite their preference for they/them pronouns, they settle for the continued use of she/her pronouns.

3. How did your oc discover themself? Did something cause them to question, or did they always know?

Penemu has known since they were young, though for years they lacked the vocabulary to properly express their feelings. They were bullied by the girls in their village over their style of dress and was referred to as a tomboy. Due to their enjoyment of traditionally masculine pursuits and their general outcast status, Penemu became good friends with Alexander and Luthias.

8. Have they had struggles with their identity, be it due to internal or external reasons?

Mirian society is not very accepting of queer people, hence their choice to continue using she/her pronouns. Penemu's own father wished for them to adhere to what was socially expected of them having been born afab; one thing he was rather instant on was that Penemu should leave the house dressed as a "proper young lady," which would often spark quarrels between the two.

18. Do you prefer to give your ocs specific labels, or keep it unspecified? Why? If applicable, do you change their labels depending on circumstance?

Most of my ocs have specific labels, yet quite a few of them remain unspecified in my writing (since the idea of heteronormativity doesn't exist in most places, many of them don't feel the need or desire to "come out" and label themselves), and some remain unspecified even to me. Even if it's never explicitly stated what an oc identifies as, I personally like being able to keep it in mind as an author. Some labels have been changed here and there as I or even the characters themselves have come to a better understanding of who they are.

Penemu has long black hair which they often style into a braid that rests over their shoulder. Their choice to keep their hair long is mostly personal preference, but how one wears and maintains their hair is also of great cultural significance to their father's side of the family as well. When it comes to cutting their hair in order to join the rebellion as a soldier, they are deeply saddened by this act because not only does it symbolize them breaking away from their family and culture, but by disguising themself as a man they are also forced into yet another box; by conforming to what is expected of men, Penemu feels just as restricted because they still have to live a lie about who they are.

Alexander

I. Alexander would buy clothes from the soup store. // Yes, I'm sure he would lol.

II. Alexander is not allowed to drink energy drinks. // Perhaps. He has a more reserved personality, but I'm sure if he was given something with caffeine in it, he'd be bouncing off the walls with anxiety.

III. Alexander is a simp. // Oh 100%, for Elisven most of all.

Elisven

I. Elisven has an incredible long-term memory but an awful short-term memory. // Elisven's memory is impeccable, so I'd say her long-term and short-term memory is actually on par.

II. Elisven has been to prison. // She hasn't even seen the inside of a prison before.

III. Elisven's favorite subject in school was math. // I don't think she'd consider it her favorite subject, but she was alright at it.

Luthias

I. Luthias has an intense fear of people. // He works as a nurse, so his job would be rather impossible if he was afraid of people.

II. If Luthias likes someone, he will give them a pretty rock. // I think he tends to show affection through spending time with others rather than giving people trinkets.

III. Luthias has a very low alcohol tolerance. // He's a light weight; two or three drinks in he'd already be spilling his emotions.

Penemu

I. Penemu is a cat person. // They radiate black cat energy, so I'm sure they'd be a cat person.

II. Penemu tackles and wrestles people to show affection. // Yeah, sounds about right.

III. Penemu is a youngest child. // They're an only child, but there was the possibility of them having a younger half-sister at one point.

Sireva

I. Sireva is constantly singing for no reason. // He doesn’t sing because if anyone heard ever him, he'd be absolutely mortified.

II. Sireva is the gay cousin. // Yes, he is.

III. Sireva desperately needs a hug but doesn't know it and refuses to ask for one. // This is fairly accurate. The way he was raised, he’d rather die than admit he needs anything, let alone emotional support.

Guinevere / Margaret Elyse Iuscora: Guinevere is the name she was given in her origin life, while the second one is what she was given in her second life. Guinevere means “fair, white, blessed.” This name comes from Arthurian Legend, which is an inspiration for the wos universe. Margaret means “pearl.” Elyse, her mother’s name, means “God is my oath.” Her surname Iuscora is made up by me, but it signifies her family’s archangel ancestry.

Theodore James Grayson: Theodore means “gift of God,” which works out perfectly for his origin; his adopted mother believed he was left behind by one of the angels and therefore was meant as a gift to her since she was unable to bear her own children. James means “supplanter.” Not quite sure if that fits anywhere into his story. His surname Grayson means “son of the reeve” (a local official, in particular the chief magistrate of a town or district).

Elizabeth “Ella” Ann Hart: This isn’t her birth name, but rather one she chose when going into hiding. Elizabeth means “God’s promise or God is my oath,” though she has a complicated relationship with her religion. Ann means “grace, He has favored me” and it’s also accepted as a religious name. Her chosen surname is Hart, which means “stag.”

Alexander “Alex” Louise Ryder: Alexander means “man’s defender, warrior.” His first name was a placeholder until I liked it so much that it kinda stuck, but it’s surprisingly rather fitting. Louise means “renowned warrior,” and I just so happened to choose it because I thought it sounded great with the name Alexander. His surname, Ryder, is a variant of Rider so it literally means horseman or horse rider.

Penemu Zilyana Nightingale: I came up with the name Penemu years ago, but upon looking it up, it turns out that there’s actually a being in Enochian lore named Penemue and he’s “a curer of stupidity in man” (according to Wikipedia). Since she has the nicknames Pen and Penny, I decided her name was a variation of the name Penelope, which means “weaver.” Zilyana is also a made up name, but the closest match I could find was Zilya, which means “hunter, harvester, guardian.” The surname Nightingale means “someone with a good voice,” as this species of bird is known for its beautiful song.

Elisven Luina Skylark: The name Elisven was also made up by me, but it’s a variation of Elizabeth which means “God’s promise or God is my oath.” Luina is the name Luna (with an i) which means “moon.” This was also her paternal grandmother’s middle name, and Luina is the name of the moon goddess in Aetherian mythology. The surname Skylark possibly comes from a type of European lark, a bird renowned for its ability to fly vertically up into the air.
