blame it on the alcohol, @jngyenni
Crunch!
The sound of the fresh lettuce crunching between her teeth hits her ears, and the flavorful taste of samgyeopsal delighted her taste buds. It has been a long time since Joohyun has indulged on such treats. Diet? There was no way she was worrying about that after such a long day. Here, she sat with her precious best friend. If she were to be quite honest, getting to see each other physically like this has become harder ever since the two have been everywhere with their respective groups. It was refreshing, seeing Yerin after such a long time. The girl didn’t sport the blonde hair she did when they last hung out, going back to the original brown that made her look so adorable and child-like. She appreciated this. She appreciated her.
...but what she didn’t appreciate was the smell of alcohol lingering around due to their surroundings. Sure, she has taken a shot or two, but nothing more. Alcohol burned her throat too much and she didn’t like it. Yerin, however, was a totally different story. Joohyun knew for a fact that Yerin disliked it just as much as she did, so the older was beyond confused. She still is, watching the younger with her brows furrowed. Yerin hadn’t provided her an explanation, either. Now, she catches herself watching a drunk Jung Yerin, who was still drinking to her heart’s content. Sighing, Joohyun took the cooked meat off, cut it into pieces, and wrapped it in a lettuce just so she could feed the girl who was drunk beyond her wits, smiling stupidly as if there was something funny decorating Joohyun’s face. “Jung Yerin, I am not going to have to be the one explaining this to your manager. Or to Sojung.” She muttered, bringing the food close to her mouth. “Say ah.”

you know i hate chicken, @jngyenni.
Jung Yerin, unbeknownst to most people in the public, was Bae Joohyun’s one and only best friend. Yerin knew her like an open book, which Joohyun didn’t mind. She loved Yerin’s company, so it was only right when Joohyun accepted her offer to go and eat to a place where apparently, Joohyun has never tried before. The ambiance was quite peaceful. One would mistake it as a cafe where people would go to find peace and relaxation as they drank caffeine down their system rather than a bustling restaurant which served scrumptious food and smelled off grease from the variety of fried and grilled food they’d be selling. Naturally, Joohyun felt at ease when they had entered. Yerin insisted she ordered for the older, something that she would really love to eat. The younger kept telling her it was her favorite in the restaurant, and although she had wanted to try something by her own choice, she just let her persistent companion do the work. Joohyun forgot to remember, however, that part of the unspoken “contract” shared by two best friends, was the never ending tricks they’d pull on each other, which only hit her by the time she was faced with a dish she truly couldn’t stomach, a glare placed onto her usually delicate features. “Jung Yerin!”

Dear best friend,
Dear…
» accepting» from: @ysvh» to: Best Friend ( @jngyenni )
To the most precious duck to ever waddle the earth,
Oh my goodness, a letter for you again? Ha, I might end up winning the World Record for “most letters written only to one person.” Heh. But of course, my Yerin deserves nothing but the best. People see you as Jung Yerin, the loud and friendly lead dancer of rising girl group, GFriend. In a way, yes, you are very much loud. You are also very friendly which I admire about you because truthfully, it’s something that I can never ever easily do with only myself.
When I first met you, you immediately offered me your friendship. Sure, friendship isn’t so bad, who was I to turn it down? But at that time, I always thought that certain friendships are fleeting. People come and go, and I watched people do exactly that. I had people I trusted with my life, people I considered close, yet at the end of the day, the bond that I thought we had created seemed to always fade, and I am left with nothing but memories I once shared with that person, not knowing if I’ll see them again or if they’ll ever show their face to me again, and for a moment I thought that the problem was all pinned back at myself.
But you proved that theory of mine wrong. Well, at first I thought we’d only get to the surface level of this friendship. Talk, talk, talk…and after a while forget about each other and move on, only talking when we want to. But years later, I find myself enjoying the company of my favorite duck, my most favorite person in the world. Although I may have forgotten how this friendship came to be what it is today, that doesn’t matter because what I have now is a type of friendship that I will always cling to with my dear life. Whenever I’m sad or happy, you were always patient enough to understand me. Whenever I talked about nonsensical or sometimes even self-centered things, you listened to me. Honestly, where can I find another person such as you? Ah, I wouldn’t even ask that in the first place, because no matter how deep I walk into this Earth, I know that there will never be a human being fit for me to enjoy such a friendship as this as you are. Now, I’ve met many people I consider good friends, yet I’m not afraid to build friendships with them anymore because I have you who taught me how to cherish people and that I am capable of building relations (though really, you’re still my favorite out of the 7 billion people in the world, hehehe. Don’t tell Sehun!). I love you so much, Jung Yerin and you are most important to me than butts and laundry. Let’s make more memories and be closer until we grow old, okay?
Love,
Joohyun, your favorite bun
P.S. Of course, I will never ever leave you. I don’t want people seeing you ugly cry kekeke~

send me “talk about them!” + a url and I’ll talk about that person
» not accepting» from: @jngyenni» Let’s talk about Yerin!
“Yerin is a duck. The end.”
Tumblr media
A long pause followed making one feel as if she’d have nothing more to say about the other. Contrary to that, Joohyun had a lot to say, which was why she laughed it off after that long, painful pause. “She is, but she not just any duck. She’s my extra special dumb duck.” Dumb would be an insult to some. But for the both of them, it was a rather playful way of displaying affection. “She makes me laugh, but she also makes me cry...cause of laughing!” Ah, how she loved messing with the other. They almost always lived with happiness because of this. “But you know what, I think Jung Yerin is really one of a kind. What are the chances that you find someone you click with so well? Someone who is willing to go through every crazy ride with you, not knowing what awaits at the end? I’ve found myself having difficulties getting rid of my inhibitions, and only a few have succeeded in uncovering who I truly am as a person. Yerin was probably the first one to ever have done so. I grew as a person while being friends with her and I am honestly so thankful for having a best friend, a sister like her.” This time, her smile wasn’t out of playfulness. But rather, it was out of fondness as she gathered all lovely memories in her head, each one having a special place inside her heart. “She’s dumb, she’s embarrassing, really really extra, and has the tendency to be so, so loud. Yet I wouldn’t have it any other way. Yerin is my other half and my partner in crime. I cannot imagine a life without my best friend, and I hope I never will have to.” She nodded. Most likely, Joohyun would be a mess when that happens. “Last but not the least, I wish for her to always keep smiling because I know that her smile keep not only me happy. I love the sight of a happy Jung! I hope to spend a lot more time with her, and especially a lot more 2린 days in the future.”

In the Night Garden: how Igglepiggle and his friends talk your toddler’s language@|in the night garden how is it made@|https://ift.tt/3n99wmz
Bedtime can often be a trying experience for young children – and their parents. But evidence suggests that regular bedtimes are very important for children’s wellbeing and development.
One regular element of the routine for many families is the children’s TV show In the Night Garden. Narrated by classical actor Derek Jacobi, it is a programme which aims to calm and relax toddlers before a good night’s sleep – and has been broadcast almost every bedtime on the BBC channel CBeebies for the past 11 years.
[external_link_head]
In the Night Garden’s colourful mix of characters and concepts can seem surreal – and even incomprehensible to adult viewers. But it certainly seems to engage young children – and uses a mixture of key tools to entertain and entrance its target audience.
To begin with, it is deliberately repetitive. Toddlers seem to love repetition, whether of a phrase or name, such as Upsy Daisy, or the same activity, such as Makka Pakka’s face washing.
As well as learning through repetition, children also find it relaxing and comforting. Each episode of In the Night Garden follows a recognisable and predictable structure, ending with the tittifers (colourful exotic birds) singing. Afterwards each of the characters goes to bed (except for Igglepiggle, who wanders off through the forest, falling over and waving) before the forest goes dark and the stars come out.
[external_link offset=1]
Another regular feature of the programme which toddlers enjoy is rhyme. There is evidence that exposure to this linguistic tool through nursery rhymes and songs can support children’s development in many ways, especially reading. So although adults may think the Igglepiggle song (“Yes, my name is Igglepiggle, Igglepiggle-niggle-wiggle-woo”) sounds like nonsense, to toddlers it has instant appeal.
Tumblr media
Who’s not in bed? DHX Media
This linguistic element continues in the simple sounds of the characters’ names and the dialogue between them – the sounds are reflective of the way a toddler’s language is developing. For example, they generally master vowel sounds before consonants and The Tombliboos are named Unn, Ooo and Eee, phonetically reflecting how a toddler might say the numbers One, Two, Three.
This is also emphasised by the fact that the Tombliboos always appear in this order, with their names spoken as they appear. And there is considerable use of words that are similar to baby babble in their formation. They have a consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel (CVCV) structure such as the beige, small, round-bodied doll named Makka Pakka.
Aside from language, toddlers make extensive use of gestures in their communication and will usually express ideas and feelings in this way before being able to express them using speech. The characters of In the Night Garden do the same. There are whole episodes which feature characters waving at each other and giving each other kisses – both gestures that are commonly practised and enjoyed by toddlers.
Excitement is often expressed by the characters dancing and there is much shrugging of shoulders, especially by Igglepiggle when he is unsure of something.
Play time
Around the age of two, children tend to stop being preoccupied with the world as it is and start engaging with their imagination. This is reflected in their play as they begin to shift from experimenting with the physical properties of objects (banging bricks together) towards more symbolic play, perhaps pushing a brick along the floor pretending it is a car.
[external_link offset=2]
It is this early symbolic play that In the Night Garden seems to be replicating. Examples of this include the Pontipines, ten peg doll-like characters who represent a family living in a semi-detached house at the foot of a tree. The familiar game of toddlers pretending they are on the phone is also mirrored in the “Trubliphones” which allow characters to communicate with each other as they wander through the garden.
Another type of behaviour enjoyed by many toddlers is their attachment to a special toy or comfort blanket. They may find it reassuring that the main character of the show, Igglepiggle, is almost always seen with his red comfort blanket in tow. It is a clear acknowledgement of the importance of such a comforter – and the role it may play in helping children learn to control their emotions.
It is no coincidence that the content of In the Night Garden reflects the developmental stage of its target audience. Andrew Davenport, the show’s creator (and co-creator of the Teletubbies) has a degree in speech sciences. His personal bookshelves include works written by well-known developmental psychologists.
It also nothing new that something designed as entertainment for children seems so bizarre and nonsensical to adults. Traditional popular nursery rhymes include a cow jumping over the moon and an old woman living in a shoe. Neither would be out of place on the colourful set of In The Night Garden – a different world carefully designed for the curious minds of young children (and their weary parents). [external_footer]

In the Night Garden… – Wikipedia
This article is about the British children’s TV series. For the novel, see The Orphan’s Tales.
In the Night Garden… is a British live-action preschool children’s television series, aimed at children aged from one to six years old.[1] It is produced by Ragdoll Productions. Andrew Davenport created, wrote, and composed the title theme and incidental music for all 100 episodes.[2][3] It was produced by Davenport and Anne Wood, the team that also co-created Teletubbies. The programme is narrated by Derek Jacobi. It is filmed mostly in live action, and features a mix of actors in costume, puppetry and computer animation. The characters include Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka, the Tombliboos, the Pontipines, the Wottingers, the Haahoos, the Ninky Nonk, the Pinky Ponk, and the Ball.
You're reading: In the Night Garden… – Wikipedia
The first episode was first broadcast on 19 March 2007. Two series were made, with 100 episodes in all. The BBC confirmed in 2010 that it would not be commissioning another series.[4] The show’s budget was £14.5 million.[5] The programme’s creators have said that it is designed to relax and entertain its intended audience ages one to seven years old.[5]
Overview[edit]
The programme features a large cast of colourful characters with unusual names who live in a magical forest scattered with large daisies and brightly coloured pompom flowers. The characters mostly speak short and repetitive phrases and each has their own special song and dance. The garden is a sunny and colourful environment and the music is jaunty and music box-like. Producer Anne Wood said:
“We wanted to explore the difference between being asleep and being awake from a child’s point of view: the difference between closing your eyes and pretending to be asleep and closing your eyes and sleeping.”[6]
Each episode starts with a shot of a night sky with the stars appearing, followed by a shot of a child in bed, while the narrator introduces the programme’s episode. The scene then cuts to Igglepiggle, in his boat, getting ready to go travelling to the Night Garden whilst the theme music plays. The camera pans up to the night sky, followed by brightly coloured flowers. Then we see Igglepiggle going to the gazebo to meet his friends. After that, the title appears on or under a hedge and either the Ninky Nonk or the Pinky Ponk appears.

The episodes end with the Tittifers singing their song (they also sing in between segments), then one character gets ready to go to sleep while they hear a bedtime story, which is generated by the magical gazebo that sits at the centre of the Night Garden. This story is a summary of the plot of the episode. Sometimes the characters all dance together under the Gazebo. Then we see all of the characters except for Igglepiggle going to sleep, while Igglepiggle delivers his goodbye sequence. Then the Night Garden turns and retreats into the night sky and Igglepiggle is seen asleep on his boat as the end credits roll.
In the Night Garden… is intended to help children relax and achieve calming relationships with parents. Producer Anne Wood also states: “We became very aware of the anxiety surrounding the care of young children which manifested itself in all kind of directions; but the one big subject that came up again and again was bedtime. It’s the classical time for tension between children who want to stay up and parents who want them to go to bed. So this is a programme about calming things down whereas most children’s TV is about getting everything up.”[6]
In 2007[7] and 2008,[8] the show won the Children’s BAFTA for “Pre-school live action,” as well as being nominated in 2009.[9]

The show returned to the daily “Bedtime Hour” slot at 6:20 pm as of 30 August 2008, and began showing the second series (beginning with “Slow Down Everybody”) on 1 September 2008.[12]

Toys[edit]
The show’s producers, Ragdoll Productions, signed a deal to make the toy producer Hasbro a global partner before the show was first broadcast, and merchandise was first made available in July 2007. The range includes small Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka stuffed toys and a small Ninky Nonk train with detachable carriages. Wheeled toy licensee MV Sports & Leisure Limited produced a range of scooters and trikes. Play-Doh made some dough that came packaged with an Igglepiggle-shaped cut-out.
In spring 2008, several new toys arrived, including roll-along characters, Talking Cuddly Makka Pakka, Ninky Nonk Pop-up tent and more. Hasbro won the 2008 “Best Licensed Toy or Game range” Licensing Award for their In The Night Garden… range.[14]
In January 2009, a spokesman for the BBC confirmed that they had asked Hasbro to change the skin colour of the Upsy Daisy doll following “a handful of complaints”. The doll was originally released with a noticeably lighter complexion than seen in the television series, as it was based on the animated version of Upsy Daisy.[15]
In 2010, more New Toys were released like the Igglepiggle and Upsy Daisy set that contained a copy of the Series 2 episode The Pontipines’ Picnic (2008) on DVD as well as an electronic Ninky Nonk (which made the actual sounds from the Show) and a Playmat that had the Bridge, the Tombliboo Bush (with The Tombliboos and their beds) The Gazebo and the Pinky Ponk.
Live theatrical show[edit]
In the Night Garden…Live! started a UK tour in July 2010. The show took place in an inflatable purpose-built show dome. The show premiered in Liverpool, and moved on to London, Glasgow and Birmingham. In the Night Garden Live has toured the UK every summer.[16][17]
