His  jaw  tightens  as  his  gaze  moves  down  to  meet  Delaney's  own.  There's  truth  to  her  words  but  he  can't  admit  it,  because  if  he  does  then  it  all  becomes  real  and  that's  the  last  thing  he  needs  right  now.  "What  didn't  she  do?"  Elijah  exhales  as  he  begins  walking.  "Didn't  complete  the  harvest  festival  so  she  hoarded  the  ancestors  magic  for  way  too  long,  cheated  death,  got  involved  with  vampires..the  list  can  go  on."

⸻ "it's not the only reason and you know it. just admit you actually like me, eli," delaney teased him, reaching up to pinch at his cheek with a tormenting grin. the nephilim wasn't silly. she knew exactly what she was doing. but what was the fun if she didn't test him just a little bit. kept him on his toes the way she knew davina had. "do they really want my sister dead? what'd she ever do?"

"You're  lucky  Marcellus  likes  your  twin  sister  so  much,"  Elijah  exhales  as  he  straightens  his  suit  jacket  and  looks  down  at  Delaney.  "Because  that's  the  only  reason  I  have  to  keep  you  around.  Otherwise.."  his  voice  trails  off  as  he  shakes  his  head.  "Never  mind.  We  need  to  get  you  back  to  the  compound.  The  last  thing  the  witches  need  is  to  discover  there  are  two  of  you."
