"surprise!" she retorts, sarcasm dripping in her tone. "my brothers play -- there, a nice fact about me. wasn't that easy?" ali breathes out, alluding to the fact there was a lot about eli that she just..didn't know. not that she had a right to know. after all, they'd only met after she was three sheets to the wind and needed to feel something. eyes break the gaze they held to glance down at eli's hands. hands she'd wished were on her again in all the right ways, but that's clearly never happening again. she refused to be someone's excuse to cheat. not again, at least. it's fucked up that it even happened a second time -- her luck, right? "don't even try to say you didn't leave that out," her voice is barely above a whisper. it's taking everything in her not to cry because that's the last thing she needs -- crying in front of a man who clearly could care less about her. "great, thanks for finally being honest." her arms cross over her chest. "i have another question for you though," something changes in ali's demeanor entirely. "every time you fuck her now, are you thinking about me?" it's a bold question, but she's officially past the point of giving a damn. "and remember, eli -- don't lie to me."
"i never pegged you for a hockey fan." his voice is dry and void of any emotion as he says this, resisting the urge to roll his eyes. he has a feeling that's not why she was here, and his suspicions are confirmed when she claims it wasn't that hard to figure out what team he played for.
he doesn't fight her when she tugs her arm away. eli lets his hand drop to his side, fingers now fiddling with a stray string on his dress pants. the sight of ali again is making him nervous and as much as he wants to reach forward and touch her again, he knew it wasn't the right thing to do. not when he had a girlfriend he was supposedly loyal to.
when she pokes at his shoulder, it slightly moves backwards as he just stares. "i didn't-" eli begins, but really doesn't know what to say. he has no excuse for what he had done. really, though, he had thought he'd never see the blonde after that night. "i do. yeah. she's my girlfriend."

@ofbookshelves asked: ❛ don't think this changes anything between us. ❜
“Look,” Allison hums softly, avoiding any and all eye contact with Rae. It was uncomfortable for Allison, being around her former friend like this after their falling out but she needed these books and the only person she knew could help her, was the woman in front of her now. “This was sort of a last resort because nobody else seemed to have what I was looking for but I know you can help. After this, I'll be out of your hair again. Besides, I'm starting study-abroad next semester for grad school,” she was talking a lot but she was nervous, could anyone blame her? “So you won't even see me anymore.”

she pretends to gag at his words but deep down ali did at one point have a crush on him that she thought had done away but...maybe not. "gross, royce," ali can't help but laugh. she does find it odd he's suddenly all interested in her. "why do you need to know? you've never been one to be even the least bit interested in a single thing i'm doing."
“ nothing wrong with admitting you have a massive crush on me . ” he has to tease her about it , especially since she’s denying it . “ such as ? doesn’t look like you’re doing much else to me . did my sister stand you up or something ? ”

she catches his eye and ali can see the realization hit him like it'd hit her a few moments ago. eli remembered her and now part of her really wishes he hadn't. because now she can't escape, she can't leave unnoticed and she was more than sure that they now had to confront this. ali wasn't sure if she could leave though -- it was like she was frozen. now she really wished she came with someone, her best friend at least -- she was the only person who knew what'd happened between her and eli. but she didn't and she was alone and now the world felt as if it were crashing down on her. it was like hours had passed while she watched him kiss his girlfriend on the cheek and send her out of here -- a smart move on his part. it's not like ali would've told her right then and there, she would've let him do that and shoot himself in his own foot. the blonde was petty, sure, but he fucked up -- he lied, not her. letting herself be pulled off to the side, away from everyone else ali can't help but roll her eyes. "god, can't a girl come watch a hockey game?" there's a bite in her words as she says them, who can blame her? "you didn't have to, genius. there's only one eli love in the league -- it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what team you're on." ali tugs her arm away from his grasp even though deep down, she wanted to keep it there. "seems like you left out another important fucking detail too," a finger comes up to prod at his shoulder. "you have a girlfriend? seriously?"
He's smiling. It's a rare thing to witness in public, as more often than not he keeps his face expressionless. His girlfriend has her arms wrapped around his neck, face close to his as she congratulates him on a good game. As he chats away with her and a nearby fan, he almost misses the sound of her voice.
He'd recognize it anywhere, despite only having heard it for a night. Ali. The girl he had gotten a little too tipsy with and had taken to bed, despite having a girlfriend. The woman he had told over and over again that he was in no relationship. Lies. He had fed her lies. And now she was here, watching him happily greet the blonde. At least he was consistent with his type.
Eli needs to get her out of there. He doesn't know Ali well enough to know what she would and wouldn't do. After handing Odette his keys, he tells her that he'll meet her at the car. That there were a few more things he had to do before he got out of there. She smiles, placing one more kiss on his cheek before exiting.
When he looks over, she's staring. After signing a few autographs, he slowly makes his way over to her, stomach now in knots. Fuck. He never thought he'd see her again. "What are you - why are you here?" His voice is low as he asks, grabbing her by the arm as he pulls her to the side and away from the crowd. "I didn't even tell you what team I played on."

truthfully, allison loves getting this reaction out of oliver. one where he's caught dead in his tracks at either what she says or what she's wearing -- it just means she's done everything right. "because while we're at this party," the woman saunters over to where he's waiting on the couch and leans down, her lips right against the shell of his ear. "i want you to hold onto the thought that i'm just dripping with anticipation of what you'll do to me later." pressing a kiss to his cheek, allison smiles down at the other. "are you ready to go?"
as usual, allison was taking forever to get ready. he should have been used to it by now, learned to prepare for it so he wouldn't end up ready and waiting on the couch for an hour before she was finally ready to go. this time - at least he gets something out of it. he blinks a few times while staring at her, a flush growing over his cheeks, "shit, allison. why would you tell me that when we don't have time to do anything since you took so long?"
