DPXDC prompt. Dead on main. Singer! Phantom x Red Hood!Jason
Laws are easily changed if businessmen smell money.
Paulina and Sam suggest Danny to try to become a singer in order to change society's opinion about ghosts a little. In the end, the otherworldly sound of his voice can at least be used for the benefit of Realms.
And it seems like the Everlasting Trio is really liked by the public. At first they just release a few songs (Exams kill, Battle with myself, What an Autopsy Won't Show, Among the stars). But a mysterious atmosphere mixed with understandable teenage problems begins to take over teens playlists. Their fans want more and more.
So, when under the pressure of the public and profit-hungry bigwigs all bans on the presence of ecto creatures in the United States are lifted, the Trio goes on their first Tour.
~~~~~
Jason stumbles upon Phantom's songs completely by accident. It was painful to hear them for the first time but at the same time it was as if he could breathe again because he had found someone similar. Someone who understands, and who doesn't judge him for coming back wrong. Jason listens to his voice on repeat and the rage seems to recede and subside. There is sadness of loss and fear in the songs but most of them end bringing some hope and this thought gives Red Hood more strength not to break down for another day. and then another, and another..And one day, the green eyes in the mirror do not scare Jason but shows him that he belonging to something more. Todd can't explain it more precisely, but it was as if the waters of Lazarus inside him had calmed down and he was no longer enemies with them. He even jokes with Tim that he is finally rest in peace and ready to live a full undead life when his brother (God, his lil brother whom he wanted to hurt recently because of his own stupidity), asks him about his strange behavior.
~~~~~
Jason forgets how to breathe again. His favorite band, and most importantly his favorite vocalist, is coming to Gotham with a concert. For many years now, none of the nonresidents have dared to take such a risk, but it seems like Phantom has absolutely no instinct for self-preservation. Well, as a true fan, Red Hood will do his best so that none of the gothamites spoil the Trio's impression of their first concert here. Danny is beside himself with excitement. Their concert in the hometown of the Red Hood was approved. Of course, there is no chance that he would be able to meet such a busy vigilante but Phantom continues to dream. If he'll fly a little over the city instead of sleeping after rehearsals, maybe he'll get an autograph from at least one member of the bat clan.
~~~~~ Phantom: Thank you very much Mr. Nightwing sir. Just sign it for.. Nightwing: For a Phantom, right? Huh, I recognized you, my brother has poster in his room. Nice hairstyle by the way. Danny*urgently*: Which one of them?
Nightwing: Jeez, and I thought it was just a stage image. Ghosts are kinda creepy. Terribly persistent, to be precise. And yeah, Jason, he absolutely not against you as a vigilante. You can safely ask Phantom to sign your helmet, I promise. Man was so happy when find out you're listening to his songs, you have no idea.
Jason *holds out a hand*. Nightwing: What? Jason: If you dared to meet Phantom before me, then where is my autograph? Nightwing: Em..oops? I gave him mine if it helps.
Jason: *sounds of an angry lazarus demon*.
It's Hard to Believe | Jungkook One Shot
Summary: Getting pregnant with your best friend's baby definetly wasn't a part of the plan... Pairing: f!Reader x Jungkook (fwb, f2l) Word Count: 2.7k Warnings: A tiny bit of explicit and suggestive language but nothing crazy a/n: This is something I started writing at like midnight and it's kinda shit but I thought I might as well post it since I haven't posted in a while (Like five days short of a month wtf?!?!? How has it been that long?!?!) (I just barely checked rn lmao my bad 🥲) p.s. I kinda wanna do a full on series on a concept like this but it'll be different and less fluffy but that won't be happening for a long ass time but yeah lol Requested by a lovely anon 💜
"How am I supposed to tell him?" I ask my friend Sam for the millionth time since I found out. "Y/n just tell him. You guys have been friends for how long?" she asks and it's like I'm having deja vu from both of our responses. "Like ten years" I mumble and pull my sweatshirt sleeves down over my hands in an effort to stop my nervous fiddling but it only makes it worse.
"Right and you guys have been messing around with each other for over a year now, maybe even more...I don't wanna know" she says while holding her hand up in a way to assure me that she doesn't need the details. "Just tell him. If he's as great of a guy as you keep on telling me he is then I promise everything will be okay" she says and places a hand on my shoulder before she gets up off my couch.
"Where are you going?" I ask while she shrugs on her jacket. "Didn't you say he's supposed to be here around five?" she asks and I nod my head, checking the clock and seeing that it's already 4:30.
"Yeah...are you sure you don't wanna stay and say hi?" I ask and she glares at me. "Let me know what his response is to that bun in the oven and then we'll talk. I wanna figure out if he's an asshole or not before I decide to waste anytime on him" she says while lacing up her shoes.
"Promise me you'll tell him tonight?" she asks and lifts up her hood, getting ready to shield herself from the pouring rain outside. I nod my head reluctantly, that being way more progress than I've made for the past few weeks since I found out. "I promise" I utter under my breath and she smiles, pulling me in for a bone crushing hug.
"Text me if you need me" she says, worried for what might happen but hoping for the best. "I will...thanks" I whisper and she nods her head before walking out of my door and turning slightly and waving to offer me one last farewell.
I close the door after I see her get into her car and lean my back up against it, steadying myself for a second and taking deep breaths, trying to stop my racing heartbeat before pushing off of it and tidying up before Jungkook gets here to distract myself.
Sam has been the only one I've been able to count on and honestly the only person I can trust since I haven't told anyone else. She was the one I called when I missed my period and she's the one who brought me a pregnancy test...and then when out and bought me ten more because I couldn't actually grasp the concept that I was pregnant...am pregnant.
Jungkook and I have always been careful and taken all the necessary steps to keep this from happening but I guess we got careless this time.
Through out this whole arrangement we've made it very clear to each other that we're not sleeping with anyone else but neither of us are looking for any sort of commitment either so that's why this has gone on for so long.
Like it or not though we're going to be committed to each other in one way or another no matter what because I'm keeping this baby. No matter what he says I'm keeping them.
Jungkook is my best friend, the one person who has been there for me through everything. He's seen me at all of my highest highs and especially at my lowest lows and no matter what he's never made me feel shitty about it. I know he's not the kind of guy that'll turn on you because of something like this but I can't help but still feel terrified.
This wasn't supposed to happen but even if this child wasn't made with love from his side...it was made with love from mine.
I don't know how long it's been since I fell in love with him but I know I shouldn't have said yes to this whole fuck buddy ordeal. I just couldn't stand the thought of him being with someone else so when he offered up the idea I said yes.
I figured that if this was a way to prevent him from getting his heart broken by all those sorry excuses of girlfriends he's had in the past then I guess I'll be okay with breaking mine.
He's been acting different lately though. He's been a lot touchier, asking to come over more often, going out of his way to help me with things, offering to feed me all the time and all of it is making me feel like he already knows.
Does he know? Have I started showing already? I haven't really noticed a difference in my body yet but he looks at me naked a lot more often than I pay attention to myself naked so I mean I guess he could've noticed right?
Only one way to find out though...
A half an hour later I hear him take out his keys and unlock my door and soon I'm greeted with a smile that tugs at my heartstrings.
"Hi baby" he says, using that pet name he's become very fond of since this whole ordeal started. The sound of it after finding out I'm pregnant with his baby has made me a little uncomfortable though since I haven't told him yet.
Don't get me wrong I love it when he calls me that but I can't help but think that if this goes south that he won't ever call me that again.
Maybe the hormones have started to scramble my brain already because those uncomfortable feelings are quickly thrown away when I take in the sight of him after he shrugs off his rain coat. A simple black baggy hoodie and jeans engulf his form and the comfy sight just makes me want to curl up in bed with him and forget about everything and everyone.
Just him and I, it's always been him and I. I just don't know if this little one is going to change things.
I place a hand on my stomach for a second as a way to gain some strength from my itty bitty baby before finally working up the courage to greet him.
"Hi" I greet him softly, walking over to where he's stopped to take off his shoes and when he looks back up at me he smiles again and kisses me. I sigh into it, savoring it for just a little bit longer and when it finally breaks he looks down at me with concern now written all over his face.
"Are you okay?" he asks, sensing that something's off right away from the just the small change in the way I kissed him. I hesitate for a second then simply hold out my hand for him to take and he does, following behind me as I lead him over to my couch.
Getting this over with sooner rather than later is my best option right now so there's no reason to delay.
He needs to know, he deserves to know.
We sit there in silence, longer than he would like us to since I can tell how tense his body has gotten in a matter of minutes. "Y/n you're scaring me" he whispers, not wanting to pressure me but relaying his feelings.
I take a couple more deep breaths before finally starting. "I need you to listen to me and I need you to please not speak until I'm finished" I say while looking down at my lap, not being able to meet his eyes.
He murmurs a soft 'okay' and waits for me to continue, taking one of my hands and placing it in his lap. He needs some form of physical contact to keep him grounded since he's not too sure what to expect and I let him, knowing I need some reassurance too.
Even if I don't know what his reaction is gonna be, in this moment I need it more than ever.
"I guess there's really no right way to go about saying this because this wasn't supposed to happen so I'm just gonna come out and say it..." I start off and he squeezes my hand, encouraging me to keep going.
"I missed my period...over a month ago...and I haven't had it since then" I say and finally look up at him where he has an unsure expression. It's not one that's mad or disappointed with what I've said thus far which is a good thing but more like he's trying hard to hold himself back so he can keep that promise.
His hold on my hand hasn't loosened, in fact it's gotten even tighter and that gives me hope that we'll work this out so I take another deep breath before continuing.
"I tried to kid myself into thinking that it was late but when another week passed by I got nervous. I asked Sam to get me a test and it came out positive. I didn't believe it and thought it was a false positive and so to ease my mind she went a bought ten more from a bunch of different brands and...all of them came out positive" I say and he still looks at me with that same expression, waiting for me to give him the okay to speak and so I do.
"How long have you known?" are the first words out of his mouth and although they're not negative they aren't necessarily positive either. "About a month now" I say and he nods his head, taking another second or two to formulate what he's gonna say next.
"I'll support you no matter what you decide" he says and I let out a breath I didn't even know I had been holding in. "I wanna keep it" I say and he nods his head and smiles softly at first and then as the seconds go by it gets wider and wider making my heart beat faster.
"Am I allowed to get excited now?" he whispers and I can't help but chuckle as tears start to prickle my eyes and give him a nod. "You're excited?" I say, my whole being slowly overcome with emotion.
"How could I not be?" he scoffs playfully but that answer has me confused. "But Jungkook we're not together. I mean we're not in a relationship, we're just friends" I explain and there's a playful glint in his eyes after I say that that's making me even more nervous.
"You wanna know what I thought you were gonna tell me?" he offers up, slightly changing topics but I look at him in a way to urge him to continue. "I thought you were gonna break up with me" he says and I smile, "Jungkook we're not together. How could I break up with you?" I chuckle in disbelief.
"Correction, I thought you were gonna break up with me before I even got the chance to ask you to be my girlfriend" he says with a grin and my jaw drops, the dots all connecting as to why he's been acting so different lately. "You were gonna ask me to be your girlfriend?" I utter quietly as if we were in a crowed room and I had a secret for just the two of us.
"I had actually planned on asking you tonight" he explains, walking over to where he had placed his backpack on the floor, taking out a bouquet of slightly squished flowers. "Sorry they're all beat up. I forgot and rode my bike over here so I didn't really have any other option but to put them in there" he says almost as if he was nervous, rubbing the back of his neck and it's then that I notice how pink his ears have gotten.
He is nervous
I take them from him and smile, waiting for him to say it but he simply stands there and admires me and I can't help but laugh. "What so funny? I told you what happened to them" he utters through pouty lips which only makes me laugh more. "No, no it's not the flowers it's just that...don't you have something to say?" I ask, calming down my chuckles and when he looks at me with the same confused expression I have to try my hardest to keep the laughter at bay.
"Do you have something you would like to ask me Jungkook" I rephrase it and after a second his lips go from a pout to the shape of an 'O' as he's figured it out. "Oh um, yeah, right. Well I um" he starts off, rubbing the back of his neck again while stuttering and trying to find the words and after struggling for a second I decide to poke fun at him again.
"Jungkook I am literally carrying your child and you're too afraid to ask me to be your girlfriend?" I laugh, giving him a slight reality check which he scoffs at before responding.
"I was trying to remember what I had rehearsed to say to you but now that you're being a little brat I guess you'll never get to know all the nice things I was gonna say" he retorts, his voice suddenly taking on a darker tone that sends a shiver through my body and he smirks when he sees my reaction to it.
He cups my face and rubs his thumb along my bottom lip, making them part and he leans in as if he was going to kiss me but stops just shy of my lips. "Will you be my girlfriend?" he whispers, nudging his nose against mine and making me smile.
"I'll have to think about that" I play coy with him which he chuckles at. "You know if you weren't pregnant right now I would have thrown you over my lap for that smart mouth" he warns and I smile before leaning in and kissing him for just a second before pulling back.
"Yes I'll be your girlfriend" I say and nudge my nose against his as well and before I can register it my back is on the couch and his lips are pressed against mine, the kiss not rushed but full of so many words that have yet to be said and he gives in, not being able to hold it in anymore.
"I love you" he says, pulling back and looking down at me to see my expression which is completely dumbfounded to say the least. "You what?" I ask and he chuckles, "Is it really that hard to believe?" he points out and I guess now that I think about it it really isn't.
"I guess we've both been in love with each other for a while now huh?" I smile and his eyes light up at my round about confession. "Say it" he says, and I can feel my cheeks heating up. I hadn't planned on actually saying those three words to him even though I've felt them for so long but I don't want to hold them back anymore.
"I love you" I whisper and he smiles, "Say it again" he repeats, clearly not believing it just yet. "I love you Jungkook" I say and the little switch up with attaching his name to the end darkens his gaze. "I guess there's no chance in me getting you pregnant a second time right now huh?" he asks, sliding his hand up my thigh and I giggle.
"No I think that's pretty much impossible but the odds are never zero" I say and he rolls his eyes. "I'm trying to tell you that I wanna hit it raw" he states the obvious while rolling his eyes. "I know I know...and the answer is yes Daddy" I tease, testing to see how that word affects him now that he knows.
He tongues his cheek at that making me bite my lip, knowing that's gonna be even more of a trigger word for him from now on. "Daddy huh? Well I guess that title is a little more fitting now isn't it?"
Misfortune Teller
tldr: An older Danny, apprentice to Clockwork, does a lot of field work across dimensions, resetting the timeline, queuing future events, and who knows what else. Occasionally, he warns people about such upcoming possibilities, to set them on the right path. How, you might ask? Well in this case... as a wandering fortune teller.
Crack-fic (oh god, it's getting long and my logic brain won't let it remain as crack) where Danny becomes Clockwork's apprentice after getting his GED. Living his infinite afterlife to the fullest. Inspired by this tumblr post.
Working for Clockwork had been... interesting so far. At first, Danny got frustrated by how vague and cryptic Clockwork was. He'd just shunt Danny off to some ancient time with a few words, his own time medallion (Danny carried it everywhere with him now), and then pop back into the portal, leaving Danny with only the faintest idea of where to go.
Eventually, after enough time (ha!) spent around Clockwork, Danny figured out that it just basically meant that he had free reign and to do whatever he wanted. Because if he went on the wrong path, (like that one time in Pompeii when he had almost caused the volcano to explode a few years too early), Clockwork would just pop on by, say another few cryptic words, and then it'd all be fine and dandy, or as he liked to say, "All is as it should be... Now stop practicing your wail by an active volcano."
After telling Jazz about that (it was supposed to be funny, not concerning), she just sighed and shook her head, with a forlorn "think before you act, Danny!" but hey, it'd turned out fine so far, so who cares how he does what Clockwork asks him to do, as long as it gets done, right? Even if it's with a liiiiitle more mischief than strictly required.
Besides. Danny was the one who had been doing time shenanigans across millennia, not Jazz. And he thought he'd been getting pretty good at it too! He'd actually started giving himself a different made-up background for each universe he visited. Sam and Tucker were helping him keep up with the identities on a spreadsheet, so if he had to go back to one he'd already visited, he'd remember who he'd said he was supposed to be.
---
He was on a call with them one evening while haunting Jazz's apartment, doing just that, when he felt a familiar tingle in the back of his throat, as well as a heightened awareness of the seconds passing by, that always accompanied his mentor's appearance.
Sam was talking about his past stint posing as a god of death when he cut in. "Hey- sorry to interrupt, Sam- Clocky's here, guys, I gotta dip."
"Aw, come on! We hardly talked any this past week since you passed your certifications, man," Tucker complained.
Danny rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "Yeah, yeah. Partly on you too though, you've been caught up outside of class, and Sam's schedule is nearly the opposite of yours."
Sam hummed in agreement despiter Tucker's scoff.
Danny missed hanging out with them as much as they had in high school, but hey, life goes on. Or at least, theirs did, to college. After finally flunking out of Casper High, he'd taken some time to get used to his responsibilities in the ghost zone, and when he had, he realized that he didn't really have much enthusiasm or timeleft for his human life.
And he didn't really want to go back home either.
But Jazz had made him tie up any loose ends before he noped-off to god knows where, which frankly, he had to thank her for. Getting his GED took a few years, but it was an accomplishment that could be attributed to Danny Fenton, no ghostliness required. Then he was able to let that tether go free.
Pulled out of his musings by a few more grumbles from Tucker, Danny said his goodbyes, promising to call the next time they were all available.
After hanging up, Danny swiveled around, anticipation already lighting up his eyes an ethereal green.
Clockwork, for his part, had been waiting patiently through Danny's lengthy goodbyes. Although he supposed that it tracked for the watcher of time to be patient. With his job, it'd be a nightmare if he wasn't.
"Phantom," Clockwork spoke, calm as always. "I have some tasks I need you to complete as my apprentice."
And Danny, always ready for adventure, didn't need him to explain any further. "Sure! When do you need me to be?"
Clockwork smiled at that. "I am fortunate you are eager. Follow me."
---
Danny popped into existence in this universe with a burst of cold air and static electricity. He found himself hovering by a clocktower above a sprawling, gothic city. Smog and light pollution obscured the stars above him, to his disappointment. He comforted himself with the fact that he'd probably have all the time he wanted to fly someplace less populated to see them later.
He started off by familiarizing himself with the city. As he flew, he followed the trail of power and met the resident city-spirit, a spooky- but kind underneath- woman draped in black lace, who told him her name was Gotham. He spoke in length with her about this universe, its heroes, and her knights. On that, she was very enthusiastic... or at least Danny thought she was, her projected emotions belaying much more than her gloomy exterior. She told him how her knights had been through a lot and would need some guidance fighting the darkness that pooled in her deepest corners, smiling with too much glee, filling lungs with fear, and terrorizing with cold hard bullets.
Danny could sense that the dangers she spoke of were growing in power, ever slowly. The longer they shadowed people's minds and hearts, an intangible thing grew that lent them more otherworldly pull than their physical forms had right to hold.
That must be what he was sent here for.
But... they were weak, pitifully so for him, infinite king as he was. And besides, he wasn't here in that sense. He was a messenger, a simple apprentice. And he could do this however he wanted.
Cue his talk with Lady Gotham, and subsequent idea to arm her knights. With what? Well, he figured knowledge would be a start. Flying high above the city invisibly, Danny noticed a sea of colors and lights by what appeared to be the city's pier. He flew down, noting that it appeared to be the setup spot for a travelling circus or carnival of some kind.
He considered what to do. One of Lady Gotham's troubles was a madman clown, right? Well maybe he'd be attracted to his ilk here... and with the danger came the knights. Maybe he could catch one of them here?
Danny was floating around at the entrance and beginning to formulate a plan when a flyer caught his eye. Looking for a mystic to read fortunes. URGENT!
Hadn't Clockwork said something about fortunes? And he hadn't made an identity in this universe yet...
A mischievous smile crept across Danny's face, splitting it in two with far too many teeth.
---
Half a city away, a man in all black, perched on the very same clocktower that Phantom had Appeared by, shivered as he felt an ominous premonition about his sanity in the near future...
Said man quickly opened his comms to check in with his many, many kids. Yet even after hearing back from each, he still felt apprehensive.
Somewhere even further, Clockwork laughed.
---
And that's how Danny found himself seated at a fortune teller's booth at a pier in Gotham, two days later, for the Tricksy Traveling Circus's grand opening.
Summary: just a little behind the scenes of Colby and reader keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.
Warnings: SMUT18+, strong language, secret dating, secret texting, secret flirting, hair pulling, biting, scratching, choking, oral (both rec), use of 'good girl', unprotected sex, general filth
Word count: 3.7k | not edited
╔═══━━━─── • ───━━━═══╗
You feel your phone vibrate in your lap, glancing up at Colby and the smirk on his lips tells you exactly who the texts is from.
You look over at your friend sitting next to you, who's clearly deep in conversation with Sam, before flipping your phone over, you look so sexy in those jeans. They make your ass look so good.
You chew on the inside of your lip, fighting back a smirk as you type back, They'd look even better on the floor of one of our bedrooms.
You flip your phone back over and look up, joining in on the conversation as Colby reads your text, "Oh yeah, I've been to Paris this time of year. It's beautiful."
"Yeah?" Sam raises his brows, "Then I say.. we all buy a plane ticket, I'll book the hotel, and we take a trip to Paris."
"I'm so down for that." You nod, phone vibrating in your lap. As you go to flip your phone over, your friend next to you leans over, "Is he serious?"
You lay your phone back down quickly and look at her, "Who? Sam?"
She nods and you laugh, "Oh yes. Sam is very serious when it comes to planning trips. I bet he's already looking at hotels."
"Ah. Found one." He says leaning over to show Colby.
"Told ya." You smile and she nudges you with her elbow, "Why don't you go after Sam? You seem to know him pretty well."
You sigh, "I don't feel that way towards him." You look at her, "You know that."
She tilts her head, "Yeah, but I feel like you've been single forever, I think Paris would be the perfect time for you to find someone, you know? Get out there."
You roll your eyes, "I'm content with how my life is. I promise."
You've been secretly dating Colby for a few months.
You both are actually surprised that you've managed to keep your relationship secret for this long, almost five months to be exact.
You both agreed that you liked the privacy aspect of it, also because Colby doesn't want your name being drug through the mud for just being with him. He's saving you from that for as long as he can.
You both also agreed to not tell your friends just yet, because It keeps things exciting between the two of you. Kinda giving you both an adrenaline rush every time you try and sneak in a kiss or two when you get a few seconds alone.
The late night drives when it feels like just the two of you, is just absolutely perfection.
No one bothers you. You can talk for hours on end and just enjoy each other without people intruding in anyway.
Your friend goes back to talking to the group and you take the chance to see what Colby said. You turn your phone away slightly, smirking at his text, Your roommate won't be home tonight right? So that means I can use the front door .. like a normal person?
You tap the screen, tilting your head, I don't know, Colby Brock coming through my window is actually kind of hot.
Your friend looks back over and leans over as you lock your phone quickly before throwing it into your lap.
"Ohh.. I see." She leans in, "Got some sort of-" she lowers her voice, "-sneaky link going on, do we?"
You laugh, shaking your head, "No. there's no.. sneaky link.."
"Mm. Okay." She shakes her head, reaching for her glass, "So there is someone?"
You take a sip from your glass, eyes moving to a smirking Colby, "No." you set your glass down, looking back over at him, "Just.. trying to get a brand deal. I don't want anyone to know until it's official, you know?"
She raises her brows, "Y/n. That's great!" She pretends to zip her lips and throws the invisible key, "Your secret is safe with me."
She smiles and turns to jump in on the conversation. Your eyes meet Colby's and he shakes his head slowly as he stares at you with a small grin.
You look down at your phone, taking in a quiet, deep breath as your eyes scan over Colby's text, You know what else is hot?
You glance up at him, then over to the group before responding, Do tell.
You rest your phone down, reaching up to get a drink as Colby responds back. He stops when Sam looks over, "Do you want to go out with Jake and Johnnie tonight?"
Colby thinks for a second, searching for a valid excuse, "I have to edit that video, and I-"
"He's going." Sam says into the phone with a nod, to who you assume is Jake on the other end. You look at Colby and he gives you the it'll be fine, look.
You feel your phone vibrate and you look down, Don't worry babe. It doesn't matter. You're my girl, you get priority. I'm seeing you tonight.
You grow more impatient as time goes on.
You wanted Colby, and you wanted him now.
When are you coming?
You rest your phone on your chest and instantly get a reply from him, Soon, baby. You gettin antsy?
You sigh, smirking as you type, you have no idea.
You see the bubbles pop up, I'll be there as soon as I can, I might just tell them I'm not feeling too good, but I'll be over as soon as I can get away.
You sit up, Is there anything I can do to get you here faster?
You get up, walking to your bedroom. You set your phone down on the bed, slipping off your shirt and bra before walking over to the mirror.
You bring your phone up, laying an arm over your bare chest and snapping a picture, typing out a text before you hit send, look at what you're missing out on.
You stand there anxiously as you wait for a reply.
You see the bubbles pop up and smirk as your eyes scan over his words, Don't tease me like that, baby.
You turn around, moving your arms a little bit further down, snapping a picture and typing out, I have no idea what you're talking about.
You hit send, laughing slightly as you walk over to sit on the bed. Colby is taking a minute, so that must mean someone's around him.
Finally, he answers, Fuck.. baby girl. I can't wait to get my hands on you.
You move your arm away fully, leaving your breasts exposed as you send the picture with no text.
You toss your phone down onto the bed and go to your dresser, digging through the drawer to find your never worn, red lace lingerie set.
You strip down completely to slip on the sheer little number. You walk over to your closet, pulling out one of Colby's sweatshirts and slip it on.
You walk over to your bed, moving to lay down as you pick up your phone. You smirk when you see Colby's text, I'm on my way.
You feel your heart rate pick up and you hold your arm up, moving the sweatshirt to reveal the little heart that's cut out oh the hip of your panties.
You snap a picture of your body, Can't wait to see you.
You hit send, moving over to unlock your window. You walk over, closing the door and locking it, just in case your roommate comes home unexpectedly.
You stand there, exiting to finally have alone time with Colby.
The last few days have been rough, mainly because him and Sam have been meeting with people about exploring a haunted house nearby.
You bring you phone up, smiling as you read Colby's text, That sweatshirt would look even better on the floor.
You instantly move to take off the sweatshirt. You step infront of the mirror, posing for a picture to send to him, how's that?
He's driving so it's a minute or two later that he gets back to you, leave it on. I'm taking that off of you.
You smile, Deal.
You move to sit in the middle of your bed, trying to patiently wait for Colby to arrive.
It feels like hours until you finally get that, I'm coming up, text.
You throw your phone to the end of the bed, rising up to sit on your calves. Colby's figure appears in the window and you bite your lip, watching intently as he steps through.
He reaches behind him, eyes still on you as he closes the window, "Come here." He lunges to you, making you fall backwards onto the bed as his body is over yours.
His lips attack yours before kissing down your neck.
His hand travels up and down your side, gripping to pull you closer to him. Your legs wrap around his waist and he groans as you tug his hair.
"Been thinking about being with you all fucking day." He mumbles into your neck as he leaves open kisses up it, "So fucking hot."
He rolls, causing you to straddle him. His eyes rake up and down your body as his hands slide up your thighs.
You lift your hands to brush hair off your shoulders, letting it fall down your back, "It feels like forever since I got to actually feel you." You lean down, "I've missed you."
He tucks your hair behind your ear before sliding his hands to your ass, "I'm here now so you can do whatever you want to me."
You smirk, "Okay." You move down his legs, a hand sliding down his stomach and slipping up under his shirt.
You drag your nails over his skin and he gasps as he titles his head back slightly, "Don't tease me, baby."
You smirk, moving your hands to undo his belt. You pull the leather strap from the metal buckle and unzip his pants, "couldn't make it easy for me, could ya?"
Colby looks at you, tilting his head, "Maybe if someone wasn't sending me titty pictures and getting me bricked up, I would have."
You tilt your head, "Now who would do such a thing?"
He lifts his hips so you can shrug his pants down. You slide your hands up his thighs, and over his achingly hard cock that's trapped behind the thin wall of his boxers.
He lets out a groan, looking down at you. Before he says anything, you pull his boxers away, allowing his cock to spring free.
He lets his head fall back as you lean in, pressing your lips to the head of it. Your tongue slips out, lapping it around the underside.
A groan leaves his lips as his hips buck. He reaches down, pushes his boxers away and lays a ring cladded hand on your head, "Fuck, come on baby. Give me more."
You smirk, keeping your eyes on his as you wrap your lips around the head, slowly working your way down.
He lays his head back, moaning out as he feels you bob up and down on him, your tongue sliding around each time you pause.
His hand grips your hair, his breathing gets heavier, "So good."
You bob your head a few more times before he reaches down, cupping your face to pull you off of him, "Get up here."
You move up, straddling his waist. He reaches up, sliding his hand around your neck to grip and pull you down.
Your lips crash onto his, moaning out as you feel his hand slide in between your thighs. He adds pressure to your clit, rubbing hard circles.
You grind down onto his hand, "C-Colby."
"You like that?" Colby whispers and you nod, brows furrowed, "Y-yes."
He pulls his hand away, "Sit on my face."
You look down at him and he nods for you to move up.
You position yourself over your face and he reaches up, pulling your panties to the side and pulls you down.
Your one hand instantly goes to his hair while the other one goes to press into the wall in front of you, "Fuck." You breathe out, "Sh-shit. Yes. Yes yes."
You roll your hips, letting your head fall back, "Oh fuck."
His tongue slips into you, working its way out them back in. He tilts his head back, wrapping his lips around your clit.
You tug on his hair, earning another moan from him.
Your head falls forward and you fight to keep your eyes open so you can watch him enjoy the taste of you.
The sound of the front door slamming shut, causes you to freeze and look at your closed door, "Sh-it." You tap Colby's head, "My roommate."
He lifts you up slightly, just enough for you to hear, "I'm not stopping."
You're shocked at first, but that quickly subsides when his tongue slips back into you and his hands tighten on your waist.
There's a knock on your door and the doorknob jiggles slightly, "Y/n. You in there?"
"Y-yeah." You clear your throat quietly, trying to keep your voice steady, "What's up?"
"Date was a total creep. Decided to ditch. Are you busy?"
You glance down, "Um.. kind of.." you lay your hand over your mouth, tilting your head back as Colby continues to work you with his tongue.
"Are you fucking someone?" She laughs slightly, "Oh my god. I'm so sorry. I'll let.. you.. um.. yeah. Sorry. Ignore me."
You hear her walk away and the tv in the living room switching on, turning up to a louder volume.
You look down at Colby and laugh, "Oh my god."
He nudges you, motioning for you to move and you do before he sits up. You look at him and cover your mouth to muffle your laughter.
He laughs slightly before he leans in, "You were such a good girl."
He smirks and kisses your forehead as his hands move up your back to undo your bra. He pulls the straps from your shoulders, down your arms and tosses the fabric to the floor.
He dips his head down, kissing your neck. You let out a quiet moan as he sucks a hickey into your neck. Your hands slide up his chest, gripping his shirt.
He leans back, slipping off his shirt and tossing it before he pulls you into his lap. He keeps your panties pulled to the side as you sink down onto him, burying your face into his neck as you moan.
Your arm wraps around his neck as you start to move, up and down, rocking your hip, anything to feel him inside of you.
"Fuck." He breathes out as he lays back, hands tightly gripping your hips, "So fucking good."
Your boobs slightly bounce with each of your motions.
Your head falls back slightly as you squeeze his cock, whimpering out as he reaches up to pinch and pull at your nipples.
"F-fuck." You gasp, wrapping your hand around his wrist. You look down at him, keeping your eyes on his.
You lean down, lips on his and he swallows your moans easily as his hands slide around to hold you tight against him.
He thrusts his hips upward, moaning lowly into your ear as he fucks you from underneath, "You feel so fucking good, baby girl. Fucking hell."
You moan in response, your orgasm rolling in quicker and quicker, "F-fu-" you let out a long moan, unable to form words from all the pleasure that's consuming your body.
"C'mon, baby. Cum for me." Colby coaches you, "You're so close."
You nod once, pushing yourself up on his chest and moving your hips in a quick manor, "F-fuck. Fuck."
You push your hips down and throw your head back, moaning as he picks up fucking you through your high.
"That's it, that's my girl." Colby brushes hair from your face, cupping your cheek before sliding it down to your neck.
He flips you onto your back, hand still on your neck as he continues thrusting.
His grip tightens, squeezing the sides of your neck to slowly cut off your air supply.
A muffle moan escapes as your eyes roll back.
Colbys thrusts gradually turn sloppy and it's soon after, he pulls out, spilling his cum onto your waist.
You stare up at the ceiling, trying to control your breathing for a few seconds. Colby lays next to you, pressing a kiss to your shoulder, "So.. wanna go for a drive?"
You laugh slightly, nodding as you look over at him, "I just gotta clean up first."
He gets up, finding something for you to wipe off with, "Here, babe." You sit up slightly, taking the towel from him.
"What am I gonna tell her?" You nod to the door and Colby shrugs, "Tell her whatever you want."
You nod, "Okay I'll just... um.. maybe I'll just climb down the fire escape with you."
Colby laughs, "You can't just leave her hanging, you gotta tell her something." You nod, "No. You're right."
You stand up, slipping on the hoodie you stole from Colby and he smirks, "I like that."
You smile, "Thanks. You should see the guy I took it from."
"Pretty cute?" Colby smiles and you nod, "Very cute." You laugh and walk over to change out of the lacy underwear into a regular pair before slipping on a pair of leggings.
"Okay." Colby walks over, "I'll drive around and pick you up out front." You nod, "Okay. I'll be out when I can."
He gently kisses your lips, "I love you."
You smile, "I love you."
You walk over with him, watching him climb out of the window and onto the escape. He smiles, giving you a small wave before he starts to descend down.
You make sure he makes it to the bottom before you close and lock your window. You slip on your shoes and walk over to your door.
You open it and to your surprise, your roommate is asleep on the couch.
You quietly make your way to the door, grabbing your keys off the hook before walking out and running down to Colby's car.
He leans over, opening the door for you and you get in, "She's asleep. I'll wake her up when I get back."
Colby nods and lays his hand on your leg, "Where to?"
You lay your hand on his, "Anywhere."
After a few hours of driving around, you're parked in an empty parking lot, taking and kissing every now and then, just letting it be nothing but you two and the stars.
"So I was thinking about telling Sam, mainly because he's going to want to know why I just up and left guys night." Colby laughs slightly and you look at him, "Wait. You just-"
Colby nods, "When your girlfriend is sending you titty pictures and causing you to get a boner in a room full of guys, you'd leave, too."
You laugh, "Sorrrryyy."
He pinches your chin gently, "Nah. It's okay. I'm not complaining."
You smile, leaning your head back on the headrest. You bite your lip, reaching up to write on the fogged up windshield.
I, you draw a heart, then write you.
He squeezes your hand, "You have no idea how much I love you." He brings your hand to his lips, pressing them to it, "I know being a secret is a lot harder than being public but I just.."
"Colby. I understand. I've been around you and Sam for long enough, I know how your fan base can be, but in reality.. if anyone wants to drag my name through the mud for loving you.. then I don't consider them fans."
He smiles, and leans over to you, "You're right."
You smile, "I know." You laugh and peck his lips.
"Speaking of Sam.. The other day, he almost found out about us." Colby looks over at you and you tilt your head, "Oh?"
Colby smiles, "You just.. you have this thing about you, even when you're not around, that just makes me smile like a fucking idiot every time I see something that reminds me of you and he asked why I was so giddy and I almost said your name."
You smile, "What did you see?"
He laughs slightly, "I saw duck, and when it walked by the one bush.. the leaf on the bush looked like it was wearing a hat and I just knew you would find that hilarious."
You laugh, "Oh my gosh, that's so funny." You nod, "You know me so well." You smile and run your hand through his hair, "Maybe we should tell Sam."
As Colby pulls his phone out, headlights from a car shine onto Colby's and they get brighter the closer they get.
"Oh shit." Colby mumbles and you look at him, "do you know who that is?"
Colby nods, pinching the bridge of his nose, "Yeah. I do."
The car whips around Colby's and pulls up next to the drivers side. Colby rests his hand down and puts his window down.
You lean forward, watching as the window of the other car goes down.
Not only do you see Sam in the drivers seat, but Jake and Johnnie are with and you can't help but laugh, "Oh my god."
"You mother fuckers are busted." Jake says pointing.
"I fucking knew it!" Sam yells, "I called that shit months ago."
"What are you guys doing here?" Colby laughs. He looks to you and shrugs, "I'm sorry."
You shake your head, "At least we don't have to worry about telling them anymore."
Good morning Miss Winnie.
Part II
Pairing: Dean Winchester X Reader.
Rating: Gen.
Summary:
You've just given birth to Dean's baby and are a enjoying a quiet family moment in the days afterwards.
Notes: Non-canon, no time line. And I don't ever want kids. But I just became an aunt and I sort of need to get this out of my system! Short and I'm not promising that I won't continue this. Who knows really. Finally this was written after I'd taken my usual nightly gummy.
The bunker was quiet first thing in the morning except for the usual hum of the circulation fans. You’d been there so long that they barely registered anymore, and you were extremely thankful that the consistent noise wasn’t a problem for the baby. That would have been a horror show. Trying to navigate parenthood with a baby awoken by the simplest of sounds.
You shuddered at the thought.
Life was always loud when you lived with Dean Winchester and his posse of colour characters. Between unexpected visitors and the brothers coming and going at odd hours, there was something new every day and often that new wasn’t good.
But in that moment things were perfect. The monsters outside didn’t exist and you were a regular mom with a new baby and a husband who loved you. His bother Sam and best friend Castiel were an added bonus, the former serving as an unexpected asset when both you and Dean needed some rest.
You crept carefully out of bed, your body still feeling weak, and quietly crossed to the crib by the wall. A set of hazel eyes stared up at you and your heart melted.
“Good morning Miss Winnie.” You cooed, “Let’s get you up and at ‘em before you wake daddy.”
You heard a small scoff followed by the shuffling of blankets.
“Winnie?” Dean asked with a sleep-laden voice, “We ain’t calling her Winnie, sweetheart. I’ll accept those new-agey-hippy-names like Kendell and Kloe with a K before I’ll take Winnie.”
“I’m just calling her that until we choose a name.” You laughed, lifting the little girl up into your arms, her head coming to rest on your chest, “And Winnie is short for Winchester in case you hadn’t pieced that together.”
“I don’t care if it’s short for ‘daddy’s-little-angel’, it ain’t happening.”
“I’ll cross that off my list then shall I?” You sat back on the bed, Dean coming up to nest beside you and his eyes immediately going to the baby in your arms.
He smiled, creases forming at the corners of his eyes.
“You’re not a Winnie, are ya’ princess?” In that voice he seemed to only have adapted five days ago after the birth of your daughter; that voice reserved for her.
“Maybe not. What about Meghan?” You suggest.
“Oh nope. No can do. Knew a Meg once. Demon.”
You nodded knowingly. No one wanted to name their child after a monster.
“Stevie?” Dean carried on, his eyes still fixed on the baby.
“Like Stevie Nicks?” You raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah?”
“I’m not seeing it. Samatha?”
“Already got one Sam in this bunker and that’s more than enough. Alice?”
“Can’t do it. All I’ll keep hearing is who the fuck is Alice’, and I don’t want my kid to be subjected to that for the rest of their life.”
You both laughed, interrupted only by the whine building in the little one’s chest. You quickly jumped to action and proceeded to the morning routine you’d been adjusting to since getting back home. Dean followed you, rubbing at his eyes.
“I don’t think I’ve had hangovers that made me feel quite as bad as waking up five times at night.” He yawned.
You handed him a dirty diaper and smiled as he grimaced.
“You can go back to bed if you want. I can manage by myself.”
“Sweetheart, you just damn near broke your pelvis giving birth to my kid a few days ago. I’m in this from start to finish, and if that means running on caffeine and a prayer, then I’m game. Even for the diapers.”
Dean rummaged through the first drawer of their dresser and pulled out a small onesie covered in colourful dinosaurs. He held it up in front of him and smiled.
“It’s hard to believe how small she is, huh?”
“She didn’t feel so small coming out of me.” You quipped, taking the clothing from him to finally cover the squirming child on the changer, “I’m pretty sure my vagina will never be the same.”
“That’s blasphemy.” Dean gasped playfully, “But seriously, baby, the doctor said that it’ll take a few weeks before you start to feel normal.”
“Normal is subjective when you’re postpartum.”
Holding his baby tight to his chest, Dean lent down and kissed you softly on the lips. His green eyes fluttered up to meet yours.
“Let’s face it, ain’t nothing normal about either of us in the first place.”
''Hey doll, want to join us at the bar? We're heading there later and Sam and I thought it might be fun to go all together,'' Bucky asked, even though he knew full well Sam didn't mind either way. ''Uh, do I have to...? I'd rather stay at the hotel, Buck,'' you tried, you weren't a big fan of going out, let alone going to a crowded bar on a Saturday evening. Every time they are going somewhere they try to get you to come with them, but you're not much of an outgoing person, or a people-person, for that matter. Sure, you were fine around Bucky, but the two of you spend a lot of time together, but you rarely hang out with Sam aside from missions.
''Please?'' Bucky asked with big puppy dog eyes, and as much as you didn't want to say no, you couldn't resist. ''Fine, but I won't dress up or anything, and I will stay for only an hour, that's it. ''It wouldn't want it any other way, doll,'' he said as he put his hand on your hip and he put a small kiss on your forehead as a thank you, which sets your inside completely ablaze at just the simplest of touches. This crush you had on Bucky is getting out of hand, and you don't know how much longer you can hold it in before you snap and accidentally tell him how you feel.
The weather is very nice where your mission is located, so you opt to go for a simple summer dress and a pair of Converse, your hair in a simple ponytail, and very little make-up. The dress shows a little more skin than you're used to, but you've been trying to step out of your comfort zone a little bit, trying to get rid of your shy-girl persona and instead being the badass you know you can be. This seems like a good start in your mind, and not much later all three of you are heading to a bar, you're clinging to Bucky's arm as if your life depends on it. ''You okay, doll?'' he whispered in your ear, you must have been squeezing harder than intended. ''Uh, yeah I guess,'' you muttered.
God, you were feeling very uncomfortable, not just with your outfit choice, but with everything around you. There were too many people doing who knows what, and the air in the bar seems a little bit constricting, but you promised Bucky an hour so that's the least you will do for him. In all honesty, you'd do almost anything for him if he asked, but that's mainly due to this crush you've had on Bucky, which honestly feels more like you've fallen head over heels in love with the super soldier, the more you think about it. When the three of you arrive at the bar you immediately go seek out a place to sit, and much to your relief, you find a booth in a quiet part of the bar.
''Can I get you guys anything to drink?'' Bucky asked and you just nodded, Sam ordered a beer. ''Anything specific you might like?'' he smiled at you, turning a bit flustered and red at the question. ''Uh... I- uh, I'll take a beer too, please,'' you stuttered, hoping the floor would just open up and swallow you whole right then and there. ''Alright, three beers coming right up,'' he said as he walked to the bar. Neither you nor Sam said anything while he was away, and you didn't mind. You got your phone out of your bag and started scrolling through social media to keep your mind a little busy until Bucky came back. Not long after he returned, handing you your beer and you gave him a smile as a thank you.
''So, anything new with you guys?'' Sam asked, and he and Bucky were in a conversation about something you didn't particularly care for, so you were just picking at the label on your bottle. This was how it usually went and also the reason you'd rather have stayed back at the hotel. You were deep in thought and didn't notice the men across from you were looking at you expectantly. ''Uh, sorry, did you- did you ask something?'' you said as you turned bright red, not looking either of them in their eyes because you were embarrassed. ''It's okay, Y/N, no need to be shy!'' Sam said, which only made you feel worse. ''I asked if there's anything new in your dating life,'' he said again, and it didn't help much.
''Uh, no, yeah, I have been on a few dates, but it wasn't going anywhere,'' you said, mostly because you were afraid to text them back after the date, and it never got past one, if you didn't walk out during the date itself. ''You know how it goes,'' you said with a shy chuckle, which immediately died down as soon as it left your throat, you were feeling extremely uncomfortable. The main reason it never went anywhere however, is because they weren't Bucky, but you would never admit that to anyone, the bond you have with him is special and you don't want to risk losing that connection you two share.
The moment you finished your answer you immediately dropped your eyes down, to where your fingers were still picking at the corners of the label on your bottle. Because you did this you didn't see the way Bucky's face dropped at the mention of you going on dates, you never told him that and he wasn't all too happy with it in all honesty. He got up and stomped out of the bar, he needed some fresh air to clear his mind a little bit because he almost told you he wishes you would have gone on a date with him, and he didn't want to tell you like that. You quickly went after him after apologizing to Sam.
''Buck, what's wrong?'' you asked as you grabbed his arm when you were both outside. He pulled his arm away from you and ran his hands through his hair to make sure he wouldn't do anything stupid right now. ''Why didn't you tell me why you went on dates? I always tell you everything, even when I have a date,'' Bucky said, not sure why he would emphasize that part exactly. ''I-, I'm sorry, I just didn't want to mention it, in case it would make you uncomfortable. I mostly went on those dates to get you out of my head, but it never worked,'' you said now that you got a sudden confidence boost. You don't have a single clue where it came from, but you would embrace it for however long it lasted.
''Why-, wait, get me out of your head? Did I ever do anything to hurt or upset you for you to need me out of your head?'' he said and he slowly started spiraling a little bit. ''Buck, no, please look at me, you never did anything wrong-'' you said but his face said all you needed to know. He started pacing back and forth over the sidewalk and didn't look at you, so you took measures into your own hands by grabbing his arms. ''Bucky, look at me, please! I never told you I went on dates because I'm in love with you, you grump! I have been head over heels for you ever since we first met, and that's why I never told you. I thought that if I went on dates, I would get those thoughts and feelings out of my head, but they never did,'' you explained, finally looking into his eyes as you confessed your feelings. What Bucky did next honestly surprised you to your core.
''I'm in love with you too, doll, fuck it feels good to finally say it out loud! I've been trying to keep it shoved away because I thought you didn't feel the same, but now that I know you do, I just want to tell you a thousand, no a hundred thousand times how much I love you, and how in love I am with you!'' he said as he let out a nervous laugh, he was completely overcome with relief and still finds it hard to believe your feelings are out in the open now. On a whim he grabbed your face and placed his lips onto yours, hoping that if it was a dream, he would have at least felt your lips at least once, but it isn't a dream, it was real, and you couldn't be happier.
''Thank god, now I can finally breathe normally around you guys!'' Sam exclaimed as he walked out of the bar with a huge grin on his face. You and Bucky quickly pulled apart and let each other go, mostly out of reflex as it kind of felt like he caught the two of you doing something unspeakable. ''Don't stop on my account, I don't care what the two of you do as long as you both keep it in your pants,'' he said and you turned bright red and you stared at the pavement, you would never get used to comments like that. ''Doll, can you look at me?'' Bucky said as he placed a finger under your chin and lifted it to meet his gaze. ''I love you, and I will never let you go now that I know you love me too,'' he said, sealing it with another soft kiss on your lips. You felt truly happy in this moment, and wouldn't change it for the world.
You and the Winchester boys had been hunkered down in the rooms Ellen told you about the first time she met you for a few days now. You were grateful for her generosity while you and the brothers tried to pin down your next move with the demon or another hunt, but you were going stir crazy. You sat on the hood of the Impala under the shade of a tree pouring through newspapers. Sam and Dean approached you after a few hours of you researching.
“What are you doing to my baby?” Dean asked you.
“Dee, she’s fine, we’re bonding,” you said, tapping the spot next to you on the hood. “Nothing’s dented or broken; promise.”
He gave you a skeptical look but said nothing else.
“ ‘Sides, I was getting ready to come get you anyway,” you said, hopping down. “I think I got something. Los Angeles, California.”
“What’s in L.A.?” Sam asked.
“Young girl's been kidnapped by an evil cult,” you smirked.
“Yeah? Girl got a name?”
“Katie Holmes.”
Dean chuckled, and a grin spread across your face.
“Seriously, though, it’s like all things supernatural disappeared off the face of the earth,” you continued.
Dean turned his head toward the Roadhouse at the sound of a glass breaking. “Ooh, catfight.”
You grimaced and followed the boys into the bar cautiously. Ellen and Jo were arguing loudly about Jo wanting to go off and Ellen wanting her to stay at the Roadhouse or go back to school. She stopped shouting when she noticed you. “Guys, bad time.”
“Yes, ma'am,” Sam said. The three of you turned to leave.
Dean got one more quip in, saying, “Yeah, we rarely drink before ten anyway.”
“Funny, let’s go,” you deadpanned, grabbing his jacket lightly and pulling him to the door.
“Wait. I wanna know what they think about this,” Jo said.
At the sound of the creaking front door, you turned to see a family with two kids under three walking in wearing bright yellow “Nebraska is for Lovers” t-shirts.
Ellen continued to yell despite the customers that had entered. “I don't care what they think!”
The father of the two young kids cut Ellen off. “Are you guys open?”
Jo yelled, “No!” and her mother yelled, “Yes!”
The dad grimaced and shrank away. “We’ll just… check out the Arby’s down the road.”
The phone rang as the family left, and Ellen went to answer it. Jo turned to you and the brothers; her gaze mostly focused on Dean, per usual.
“Three weeks ago, a young girl disappears from a Philadelphia apartment.” She shoved a file at Dean. Dean looked down at it strangely. “Take it, it won't bite,” she said.
“No, but your mom might,” he responded.
Jo’s lips pinched, still holding out the folder. He took it reluctantly as Jo continued explaining. “And this girl wasn't the first. Over the past eighty years six women have vanished. All from the same building, all young blondes. Only happens every decade or two so cops never eyeball the pattern. So we're either dealing with one very old serial killer, or—”
Dean flipped through it and cut her off. “Who put this together? Ash?"
Jo smiled proudly. “I did it myself.”
Dean hummed, impressed, and you took the folder from him. You flipped through it, secretly hoping to find holes in it somewhere, but you couldn’t at first glance. You were impressed, too, much to your chagrin.
“I gotta admit. We hit the road for a lot less,” Sam added.
“Good. You like the case so much, you take it,” Ellen stated.
“Mom!”
“Joanna Beth, this family has lost enough. And I won't lose you too. I just won't.”
Your gaze softened as you took in Ellen’s grief-stricken features. You could completely empathize with how that felt. And so, you and the brothers set off.
***
“I feel kind of bad, snaking Jo's case,” Sam said as the three of you stalked around the deceased’s apartment.
“I don’t,” you said. “Her mom’s only trying to protect her.”
“Exactly. Maybe she put together a good file,” Dean added, “but could you see her out here working one of these things? I don't think so.”
You pulled out your EMF meter and continued walking around the very nice apartment. “What I wouldn’t give to have one of these,” you muttered. “You getting anything?”
“No, not yet,” replied Sam. Just as he spoke, you heard his meter beeping. He leaned over to something in front of him, and you walked over.
“What's that?” you asked.
“What?” Dean came up behind you as Sam reached down to the lightswitch and lightly touched it.
“Holy crap,” the younger Winchester said.
Dean reached forward, too. “That's ectoplasm. Well, Sam, I think I know what we're dealing with here. It's the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.”
You snickered. “Can we get through one hunt without a Ghostbusters reference, please?”
“Never.”
“Guys, focus, please,” Sam deadpanned. “I've only seen this stuff, like, twice. I mean, to make this stuff you have to be one majorly pissed off spirit.”
“Alright, let's find this badass before he snags any more girls,” Dean said. You followed him out of the apartment and immediately had to cling to a wall to avoid being seen by the approaching voices. Your face fell when you realized one of the voices was Jo’s.
“It is so spacious.” Her voice was getting closer. “You know, my friend told me I absolutely have to come check it out, and I have to admit, she was right. You did a really good job with this place.”
Dean stepped out suddenly. “What the hell are you doing here?”
“There you are, honey,” Jo grinned, wrapping an arm around Dean’s waist. You could’ve killed her. “This is my boyfriend Dean, and his buddies, Sam and (Y/N).”
“Good to meetcha,” the landlord said. “Quite a gal you've got here.”
Dean smacked her ass roughly, trying to convey his frustration to her. “Oh yeah, she's a pistol.”
“So, did you already check out that apartment? The one for rent,” Jo asked Dean.
“Yeah. Yes. Loved it. Heh. Great flow.”
“How'd you get in?” the landlord asked.
Dean swallowed harshly. “It was open.”
“Now, Ed, um, when did the last tenant move out?” Jo grinned back at the landlord.
“Oh, about a month ago. Cut and run, too. Stuck me for the rent.”
“Well. Her loss, our gain! 'Cause if Dean-o loves it, it's good enough for me.”
“Oh, sweetie,” Dean gritted through his teeth, smacking her again.
Jo pulled out a wad of cash. “We’ll take it.”
The landlord’s eyes widened, and he immediately brought you back to the front office to get a key.
***
You paced around the lovely apartment furiously at Jo re-hijacking the hunt you’d hijacked from her.
“I’ll flip you for the sofa,” she said to you.
“Does your mom even know you’re here?” you asked.
“Told her I was going to Vegas.”
You scoffed. “She’s not stupid, She’s not gonna buy that.”
“I'm not an idiot,” Jo challenged. “I got Ash to lay a credit card trail all the way to the casinos.”
Dean took your humorless laugh as an opportunity to jump in before you got any uglier. “You know, you shouldn't lie to your mom. Shouldn't be here, either.”
“Well, I am,” she said. “So untwist your boxers and deal with it.”
“Where'd you get all that money from, anyways?” Sam questioned.
She gave a prideful smile. “Working. At the Roadhouse.”
“Hunters don’t tip that well,” Dean replied.
“Well, they aren't that good at poker, either,” she smirked.
‘Take away her immaturity, inexperience, rashness, and massive crush on Dean, I probably could be friends with her,’ you thought.
Dean’s cell phone rang. “Yeah?” He answered, still glaring at Jo. “Oh, hi, Ellen.” Dean and Jo had a furious muttered argument before he said, “I haven’t seen her” back into the phone. “Yeah, I'm sure… Absolutely.” Dean hung up, and Jo grinned cheerfully.
“Why didn’t you tell her?” you hissed at Dean. “Ellen’s gonna murder us.”
“Seriously?” Jo folded her arms at you. “You’re scared of my mom?”
“No,” you spat back. “I just don’t wanna babysit the whole time I’m trying to hunt.”
“(Y/N), stop it,” Sam warned.
“Me? This chick has a death wish, and I need to ‘stop it’?” you snarked. “I’m going to get some air.” You stomped out of the room, Dean trailing behind you.
“(Y/N), where are you going?” he asked.
“Away,” you snorted. “She’s pissing me off. I’m not hunting with her.”
He grabbed your arm. “I’m not happy, either, but what’s this really about?”
You felt caught. “What?”
“You heard me. What’s goin’ on? You’re normally the one who has to talk me off the ledge. Not the other way around,” he said.
You lowered your voice. “I don’t trust her,” you began. “I don’t trust her to have any of our backs. All she’s tried to do thus far is get in your pants and act like an immature brat.
"She has potential, sure, and she’s smart, but she’s not one of us. And I have no idea what her skillset is. She pointed a rifle at you one time; we’ve never seen her use one. She could be an awful shot. And she has no idea how to actually kill anything. She’s, what, twenty-one, twenty-two? She didn’t grow up hunting. She has no experience.
"She doesn’t belong here. And you not telling Ellen she’s here was a huge mistake. Because now, she’s our responsibility. And like I said, I’m not babysitting. If it’s between you or Sam, and her, I’m saving you and Sam every time.”
Dean smirked down at you.
“What?” you hissed.
“You’re jealous,” he said simply.
“Seriously? Did you hear anything else I said?” You crossed your arms and quirked a brow.
He chuckled. “Yeah, I did, and I agree. I’ll watch her if you’ll watch Sam, okay? No blood on your hands if something happens to her,” he replied.
You shook your head. “No, Dean, I don’t like that, either—”
Dean smirked down at you. “What, don’t you trust me?”
“Of course, I do,” you replied. “I don’t trust her.”
He chuckled. “I think you said that already.”
“Just—” you huffed. “I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
Dean snorted. “C’mon, it’s me we’re talking about. I’ll be fine. Will you come back and be civil now?” he asked.
“No promises.”
“Okay, I guess we’re doing this, then.” He raised his pinky at you, and you rolled your eyes.
“I can’t make a pinky promise I can’t keep,” you replied.
“That’s the point. You have to, so I know you’ll be civil.” Dean looked down at you, a challenge in his eyes and a smile plastered on his face.
“But—” you tried.
“No.”
“Dean,” you groaned but locked pinkies with him nonetheless.
“See, was that so hard?” he smirked down at you.
“You can’t use my own thing against me,” you said as you headed back to the apartment. “That’s against the rules of pinky promises.”
“Oh, there’s rules now?” Dean questioned playfully.
“There are when I say there are,” you responded flippantly, opening the door to the apartment.
Jo and Sam turned to face you, and you suddenly felt incredibly uncomfortable.
“Look, Jo—” you started.
“Save it. It’s fine,” she replied.
“Well, okay, then,” you mumbled, softly enough that only Dean could hear you mocking her.
Dean gave you a warning look. “(Y/N).”
“I know, I know.”
***
You sat at the table with your laptop next to Sam as Dean paced around the room. Jo had been flipping her little knife around for the last thirty minutes while she looked over the blueprints for the apartment.
“This place was built in 1924. It was originally a warehouse, converted into apartments a few months ago,” she explained.
“Yeah? What was here before 1924?” Dean questioned.
“Nothing. Empty field.”
“So, most likely scenario, someone died bloody in the building, and now he's back and raising hell,” Sam added.
Jo shook her head. “I already checked. In the past eighty-two years, zero violent deaths. Unless you count a janitor who slipped on a wet floor.” She looked up to Dean. “Would you sit down, please?”
Dean sat hesitantly at the head of the table, eyeing Jo guardedly. “So, have you checked police reports, county death records—”
“Obituaries, mortuary reports and seven other sources. I know what I'm doing,” she said.
“Jury’s still out on that one,” Dean replied. “Could you put the knife down?”
She complied, eyeing him angrily. He glared back.
Sam huffed. “Okay! So, uh, it's something else, then. Maybe some kind of cursed object that brought a spirit with it.”
“Meh, unless somebody’s got a relic from an Egyptian tomb, I’m not sure a cursed object has the kind of spirit power necessary to make ectoplasm,” you said.
Jo completely ignored you. “Well, we've got to scan the whole building. Everywhere we can get to, right?”
“Right. So. You and me, we'll take the top two floors,” Dean said firmly. “Sam and (Y/N)’ll take the bottom two.”
“We'd move faster if we split up,” the blonde tried.
“Oh, this isn't negotiable,” Dean responded.
***
You and Sam returned to the room way sooner than Dean and Jo did. The two of you found nothing of particular interest, unfortunately, and opted to just sprawl out on the couch and floor watching a rerun of Seinfeld.
“I just wanted to tell you,” Sam began, “I don’t think you’re wrong about Jo. Just… tone it down a bit. My brother’s dickish enough to her.”
You sighed. “Dean made me pinky promise I would be civil, so you don’t have to worry about me anymore.”
He scoffed. “My brother made you pinky promise?”
You giggled. “I introduced him to the concept.”
“What have you done to him?” Sam chuckled sarcastically.
You shook your head. “I have no idea. I don’t know what he’s doing to me, either.”
Sam paused. “Have you… talked about it at all?”
You nodded your head from side to side as if to say, “sorta.” “I just don’t think now’s the right time. I mean, after your dad, I don’t wanna take advantage of that or him to use me as a distraction.”
He nodded in understanding. “I get it. But… I also don’t think Dean would use you.”
You shrugged. “Better safe than sorry.” You paused. “How are you holding up, by the way? We haven’t had much of an opportunity to hang out one-on-one recently.”
“Honestly? Not great,” he sighed. “I’m scared, man. I don’t know what’s happening or how to stop it. And I think my dad died thinking I hate him.” Tears began to well in his eyes. “I never should’ve said those things to him.”
You got up from the floor and went to sit next to him. You reached out and grabbed his hand, squeezing firmly. “If it helps at all, I think my dad died thinking the same. And that feeling goes away after a while. I think both our dads knew that despite our many, many, many issues with each other, the bottom line is, we loved each other a lot.”
He squeezed your hand back and looked at you with sad, puppy-dog eyes. “I hope you’re right.”
The door opened to reveal Dean and Jo bickering and Dean’s fist clenched around a clump of blonde hair with skin attached to it.
You giggled. “What, you hate each other that much that you ripped a piece of Jo’s hair out?”
Dean deadpanned, “No, smartass. We found this in a vent.”
Your stomach dropped. “Oh. Gross.”
“Yeah, exactly,” Dean grumbled. He opened the trash can in the room and dumped it inside.
“Alright, it’s getting late,” Jo stated. “Who’s sleeping where? There’s four of us, two beds, and a couch.”
“(Y/N) and I’ll take a bed,” Dean said casually almost immediately. “Sam’ll take the other. Jo, you got the couch.”
The three of you were stunned at Dean and his adamancy.
Oh-kay,” Jo said, still shocked.
“C’mon,” Dean said, jerking his head toward one of the rooms. He picked up your duffel bags and headed off.
You followed behind, saying “Goodnight, guys,” and shut the door behind you. You tapped the sides of your thighs with your palms as you stayed firmly planted by the door.
Dean seemed to feel a little awkward, too, and blew out a breath. “Was this… uh, okay?”
You nodded. “Yeah! Yeah. Sure. Why not? We’re adults. We’re friends. We can share a bed. No big.”
He chuckled. “You sure? You ramble when you’re nervous.”
“Nervous?” you laughed awkwardly. “Why would I be nervous?” He raised a brow at you, and you took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. “Ive just… I’ve never… Hunting’s lonely. Even when I did hook up, I’d leave before I fell asleep.”
Dean seemed stunned. “Really? Why?”
“I don’t know, it just… felt too intimate, I guess? And I’ve never had anybody I seriously cared about that I’d want to experience that with,” you explained, sitting on the foot of the bed and kicking off your shoes.
His voice quieted considerably. “You sure you’re okay with this?”
You nodded. He seemed to understand what that meant, though both of you refused to talk about it.
Dean showered, as did you, and then you climbed into bed next to one another. The two of you seemed to have scooted to the far edges of the bed, facing away from each other. After several minutes in silence, Dean spoke up.
“(Y/N)?” he murmured.
“Yeah?”
“C’mere.”
You could feel yourself getting flustered as you shuffled over to Dean, who now laid in the center of the bed. He opened his arms and wrapped them around you, allowing you to lay on his chest. You rested your hand on his stomach, and he took in a sharp breath.
“Should’ve cleaned the pipes,” he muttered.
You scoffed. “Perv,” and moved your arm across his stomach completely. You settled into him and drifted off to the most peaceful sleep you’d had in a while.
***
The next time you awoke, you felt arms around you, and you tensed. It took you a second to remember Dean was sleeping soundly next to you. His arms held tighter when he felt you shift, and you turned your face toward his. You smiled sadly at his beautiful, peaceful face, knowing this hunt would be the only time for quite a while that you’d get to wake up to him. You closed your eyes and nuzzled back into him, only to feel him groan above you; beginning to awaken.
“Morning,” he said. His sleepy voice was incredibly attractive. His arms didn’t move from around you.
A smile spread across your face. “G’morning. How’d you sleep?”
“Great, actually,” he admitted. He almost looked sad and regretful as he looked down at you.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
“You’re confusing me again,” Dean said.
You looked away from him, understanding. Your face fell, too. “You’re confusing me, too.”
“I want to… be more to you so bad,” he began, “but I can’t. I’m tired, (Y/N). I’m so fucking tired. I’m tired of this job, I’m tired of dealing with my dad, I’m tired of… all of it.”
“I know,” you said. “So, what do you want us to do? Do you— Do you want me to leave?”
“No, god, no,” he said quickly. “I don’t know what I want.”
You snorted. “Well, what is it you don’t want? Why don’t we start there?”
He considered for a moment. “I don’t wanna lose you.”
“You won’t,” you immediately said.
“Will you let me finish?”
“Sorry.”
He sighed. “I don’t wanna name and claim anything right now. I don’t wanna be just your best friend, but I also— I don’t think I can—” Dean paused and took a deep breath. “I wouldn’t be able to give you what I want to give you right now. I can’t be what you deserve.”
“Dean,” you said. “This is a very low-pressure situation. I know you and I can’t go there right now. I know that. And… I want to, too. I care about you more than I’ve ever cared about… anybody else.” You swallowed tensely, not sure if you’d said too much. “I— I want you to heal. And I know you’re tired. And I know it’s awful. And I hope that one day, I can make things better for you. But I also know that you have to fix you first. But until then, we can just be us. I won’t initiate anything. I need you to come to me when you’re ready. And until then, we’ll just be you and me.”
He nodded. “Thanks.”
You smiled softly. “Always.”
***
After you and Dean talked things over a bit, you learned from Sam that another girl had died. Dean was off to investigate the room while you, Sam, and Jo researched. Jo wouldn’t look at you with anything but disgust after you spent the night with Dean. Her schoolgirl-ish crush was beginning to really just annoy you more than make you jealous.
Dean burst through the door. “Teresa Ellis, Apartment 2F. Boyfriend reported her missing around dawn.”
“And her apartment?” Jo questioned.
“Cracks all over the plaster, walls, ceiling. There was ectoplasm, too.”
“Well, between that and that tuft of hair, I'd say this sucker's coming from the walls,” Sam added.
“But who is it? Building's history is totally clean,” Dean reminded you.
There were various pictures and blueprints from Jo’s file spread across the table between you, Sam, and Jo. You picked up a picture of the field where the apartments now stood. Next to it was a building with bars on its windows. “Check this out. We’re next door to a prison.”
“Nice going, (Y/N),” Sam grinned.
Jo pulled out her phone. “I’ll call Ash—”
“No,” you shook your head, standing. “Let me figure this one out. Something about this is sounding really familiar to me, and it’s gonna bother me if I’m not the one to nail it down.”
“And what a shame that would be,” Jo snarked.
You glared at her as you continued to pace around the room. “Blonde hair, in the walls, prison, field, Philadelphia…” you murmured to yourself. You repeated it over and over to yourself until something struck you. “H. H. Holmes,” you breathed. “Holy shit.”
“What? What about him?” Sam questioned, straightening in his seat.
“That was his whole thing! He was really, and I mean, really into blondes— though, he’d kill just about anybody— had his whole ‘murder castle’ thing in Chicago, and the feds tracked him all the way to Boston. They brought him back to Philly, and he was hanged. Hence, field. Fields next to old prisons were almost always used for hangings,” you explained.
“What do you mean, ‘murder castle’?” Jo questioned. “And how do you know all this?”
“I like true crime,” you shrugged. “He built all these fake walls, fake hallways; his place was a fucking maze. Acid vats, trap doors, quicklime pits all up in his basement— although most of that was probably sensationalized— but anyway, this guy was a complete freak. ‘Multi-murderer’ was first used to describe him before they knew what serial killers were. He confessed to twenty-seven murders, but he probably killed over a hundred. He, uh, he used chloroform to kill his victims.”
Dean nodded, “Which is what I smelled in the hallway last night.”
“At his place,” you continued, “cops found human remains, bone fragments, and long locks of bloody blonde hair.”
Dean snickered at Jo. “Boy, you sure know how to pick 'em.”
“Well, we just find the bones, salt 'em and burn 'em, right?” she said, anxiously.
“Nope. His body’s in town encased in a couple tons of concrete,” you responded.
“What, why?” she asked.
“Didn’t want anybody fuckin’ with his corpse. ‘Cause, y’know, that’s what he did,” you cringed.
“Wait, (Y/N), that means Teresa could still be alive. Inside the walls,” Sam added.
You nodded. “Yeah. Poor girl.”
“We need sledgehammers, crowbars. We've got to smash these walls; anywhere thick enough to hide a girl,” Dean barked out, hurriedly moving around the apartment.
***
You went with Sam, and Dean went with Jo as he promised you he would. Sam couldn’t get too far into the crawl-spaces of the walls, and you insisted on pressing forward. If you could get through, then the space was big enough to hide a girl.
“(Y/N), holler if you need, okay?” Sam called to you.
“I’m good, dude, I promise. But you do the same.” You continued to wriggle through winding, claustrophobia-inducing corridors till you came face to face with the man himself; H. H. Holmes. Although, this version of the famed serial killer was a lot more gray, decayed, and gaunt than the one you’d seen in pictures. You screamed, “Sam!” before the world went dark.
***
You next awoke in a box that eerily mirrored a coffin; it was made of wood and just big enough for you to lay down in. You pointed your flashlight up at the ceiling to see long, deep, bloodied gashes in the wood; presumably nail marks. You huffed out a shaky breath, collecting yourself, when you noticed a slit in the wood to your right. A noise startled your already shaken mind, and you heard Jo say, “Hello?” You refused to talk, worried that it would upset Holmes even more.
You heard another woman’s voice coming from a different part of the room. “Is- Is anybody there?”
Jo continued talking. “Your name's Teresa? This won't make you feel better, but I'm here to rescue you.”
“Oh, god. He's out there; he's gonna kill us!” Teresa cried.
“No, he won't. We're getting out,” Jo insisted. “My friends are looking for us; they'll find us.”
Footsteps fell eerily nearby, and you could vaguely make out something approaching you.
“Oh, god, he's here!” Teresa sobbed.
“Shh! Just be quiet!” Jo scolded.
‘So much for being quiet, Jo,’ you thought. The next thing you heard was Jo screaming in pain, and you bit the inside of your cheek to keep yourself from calling out to her.
You took a knife out of your belt and began hacking at the wall. You kicked with all your might until you finally started to break through a little. Suddenly, a man’s mouth appeared at the opening you were making in the wood.
“You're so pretty. So beautiful,” the spirit cooed, reaching in your cell to stroke your cheek. You cringed and turned away, groaning in disgust. You turned back and stabbed it with your knife, the spirit crying out before disappearing again. You went back to kicking and hacking at the door with even more force than before. At long last, the paneling came loose, and you laughed in relief. You pried the rest of the paneling away from the wall and rolled out onto the floor, catching yourself before you toppled over completely. When you stood and dusted off your hands, Holmes appeared behind you and clasped a hand over your mouth. You kicked and struggled against him, screaming behind his hand muffling you. You wrestled with him a bit more before the spirit suddenly let you go. He disappeared completely when you heard a gunshot go off.
“(Y/N)!” Dean ran into the room, holding a shotgun.
You breathed out a sigh of relief. “Holy shit, I’m so happy to see you.” You ran to him and wrapped your arms around him.
“Um, little help, here!” Jo said from her box.
You ran to the wall next to her and picked up a crowbar lying nearby. You began prying the cell open, groaning strenuously as you did so. When it finally released, you helped Jo down. “You okay?” you asked her.
“Been better. Let's get the hell out of here before he comes back,” she answered.
“I’m not leaving here just yet,” you said.
“(Y/N), no—” Dean protested firmly. He seemed to understand what you were doing.
“What other plan do you have, Dean?” “Wait, what’s going on here?” Jo questioned.
“(Y/N)’s gonna use herself as bait,” he explained.
“What, would you rather Jo be bait? I don’t think so,” you said flippantly. “Now, get them out of here.” You gestured to Sam to help a frightened Teresa and Jo out of the room.
***
You sat in the center of the room completely unmoving. You sat cross-legged, breathing evenly. You’d learned long ago how to steel yourself to these situations. You grinned slightly when Holmes began to approach you. When he got very close, Dean yelled, “Now!” and Sam and Dean began shooting the bags of salt you’d strung up to the ceiling to create a perfect circle of salt around the spirit. You ran out of the circle, leaving Holmes trapped inside. He wailed and growled at you, running around the salt circle pathetically.
“Scream all you want, you dick, but there's no way you're stepping over that salt!” you laughed coldly.
You and the brothers climbed back up out of the sewer and closed the grate, fully silencing Holmes’ howls.
***
“So? This job as glamorous as you thought it would be?” Sam asked Jo as the three of you stood over the top of the closed sewer..
“Well, except for all the pee-your-pants terror, yeah. Sure. But that Teresa girl's gonna live a life because of us. It's worth it, isn't it?” Jo replied.
You nodded. “Yeah. It is.”
“Hey, what if somebody finds that sewer down there, or a storm washes the salt away?” she questioned.
Sam chuckled. “Both very fine points. Which is why we're waiting here.”
“For what?”
As if on cue, you heard the beeping of a large truck backing up. You grinned over your shoulder at Dean backing up the cement truck he’d stolen, and motioned for him to stop when the spout lined up over the sewer’s entrance.
Dean got out of the cab and came to stand next to you.
“You ripped off a cement truck?” Jo scoffed.
“We’ll give it back,” you shrugged. You turned a lever on the side of the truck and watched the cement pour down into the entrance.
“Well, that oughta keep him down there till hell freezes over,” Dean grinned.
***
As you and the brothers were heading out with Jo in tow, Ellen appeared at the entrance of the apartments, intense anger bubbling just under the surface. You and the boys cringed at the sight of her.
“Mom—” Jo began.
“Not now.”
She forced the five of you to ride back to the Roadhouse in complete silence. Ellen sat in the front seat, staring blankly ahead, and you were sandwiched between Jo and Sam in the back.
Dean chuckled awkwardly. “Boy, you– you really weren't kidding about flying out, were you?”
“You told her?!” you couldn’t help but blurt out.
Ellen scowled at you in the rearview mirror. You shrunk under her gaze.
“How about we listen to some music?” Dean flicked the radio on. Ellen immediately reached forward and flicked the radio off.
You looked up to Dean, who looked back to you.
“This is gonna be a long drive,” he muttered.
***
Ellen dragged her daughter into the Roadhouse by her elbow, and you and the brothers followed closely.
“Ellen? This is my fault. Okay?” Dean tried. “I lied to you and I'm sorry. But Jo did good out there. I think her dad would be proud.”
Ellen whipped around, angrily commanding, “Don't you dare say that. Not you. I need a moment with my daughter. Alone.”
The three of you left and loitered around in silence for the next few minutes. Jo stormed out of the Roadhouse soon after, tossing a glance to Dean to incentivize him to follow her.
“That bad, huh?” he asked as he walked after her.
“Not right now.”
“What happened? Hey, talk to me.” He grabbed her arm and spun her around.
Jo immediately jerked her arm out of Dean's grasp. “Get off me!”
“Sorry. See you around,” he said, turning back to you and Sam.
“Dean,” Jo’s broken voice called.
He turned back to the blonde.
“It turns out my dad had a partner on his last hunt. Funny, he usually worked alone; this guy did too, but,” she swallowed her forming tears, “I guess my father figured he could trust him. Mistake. Guy screwed up, got my dad killed.”
The older brother’s face scrunched up. “What does this have to do with—”
“It was your father, Dean.”
Dean scoffed. “What?”
“Why do you think John never came back? Never told you about us? Because he couldn't look my mom in the eye after that, that's why,” Jo spat.
“Jo—” Dean tried.
“Just... just get out of here. Please, just leave.”
The three of you did as Jo asked. You headed back to Bobby’s to regroup and find yourselves another hunt. Dean was silent on the multi-hour-long drive back. When you stopped at Bobby’s house, Sam went inside. Dean stayed seated in his car, and you stayed with him.
“What’s wrong?” you asked.
He scoffed. “ ‘What’s wrong’? Did you hear anything Jo said?”
“I did, I just wanted to see what’s goin’ on in your head,” you replied, unfazed by his attitude.
He shook his head and sighed. “If Ellen hated my dad so much and didn’t trust us at all, then why the fuck would she have called my dad in the first place?”
You nodded, getting out of the car; followed by Dean. “Yeah, I don’t get it,” you agreed. “She wants to get involved with your personal family shit and the demon and let us bunk at her place, and then bring up old crap you and Sam weren’t even a part of? I mean, I get that John did something that got ‘im killed, but I really don’t see how that’s your fault.”
“Whatever,” Dean grumbled. “At least we don’t have to babysit anymore.”
You snorted. “That’s one way to look at it, I guess. But you don’t have to pretend you’re not bothered by it. I know you are.”
He scoffed.
“Dean. I know you are. And I also know that I trust you with my life. And you know I don’t trust easily. You are not your father.” You walked up the steps into Bobby’s house, leaving Dean in the junkyard to mull over your words.
Midnight Confessions
Pairing: Dean Winchester x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and Dean have a "heart-to-heart" conversation on the way to Stanford to pick up Sam
Word Count: 1k
Warnings: Cursing (1x), Fluff
Authors Note: I've been wanting to use this gif for something for such a long time and I finally found a way to use it | Takes place pre-season one | I've been really enjoying writing pre-season one fics lately! | Can be read as a “sequel” to Comfortable? or as it's own one-shot | If you liked this, don’t forget to like & reblog. I really appreciate it! Feedback is always welcome ♡
“Good morning Sweetheart,” Dean said, as he noticed your movements were starting to get a little bit more prominent than they had been previously when you were sleeping.
When you awoke, you were surprised to still be in the exact same spot and position as you were in when you had fallen asleep: your head in Dean's lap, and the soles of your boots pressed up against the passenger side door. "Morning Handsome," you replied back, giving him a soft smile. "How long was I out for?"
"Couple of hours," he said. "You were mumbling quite a bit. What were you dreaming about?"
"You're going to think it's stupid," you said all too quickly, slightly embarrassed of the dream you had just had. It was nothing awful or terrible by any means; it was actually one of the most peaceful dreams you've had in a while, well...at least the one you could actually remember at least. But part of the reason you didn't want to tell your boyfriend about it was because you knew how he felt about the white picket fence life. "I'd rather blow my brains out," he's told you on more than one occasion. But it was a life that you dreamed of — and dreamed of doing with him someday.
"I promise I won't think it's stupid," he told you, trying to be reassuring. He briefly looked at you, flashing you his charming smile that you had loved so much before looking back at the road again.
You sighed, before getting up from your position on his lap; moving so your back was now pressed up against the passenger side door. This way, you could have a better angle when you told him about the dream you just had — a better angle to see the disappointment and judgement from him. Because you knew, despite this promise of his, you knew him all too well, knew that he would just laugh. “I dreamed that me and you lived in one of those blue suburbans and I was baking you an apple pie while you watched a Cowboys game on the tv.”
Silence was Dean’s chosen response. At least he’s not laughing, you thought. But you hated the silence that he was giving you as well, because accompanying that silence, his hands started to grip the wheel, causing his knuckles to turn white. “Oh yeah?” He finally said, his tone coming off rather calmer than you had expected him to sound.
You looked down at your hands as you started twiddling your thumbs, almost embarrassed at the confession you had made. “I know it’s stupid, trust me.”
“It’s not stupid,” he said, briefly meeting your gaze. “It’s just…unrealistic for people like us,” his tone sounding much more disappointed now, like there was a part of him that had wanted that kind of life. And the truth was, there was a part of Dean that had wanted that life. Wanted a suburbia life. And wanted that kind of life to be with you. But he knew it was a life that he could never have. It was simply just out of his reach. “People like us don’t get white picket fences. We get broken bones and near death experiences.”
You knew that Dean was right; how unrealistic this dream of yours was. To others, it was their normal, but to you it was foreign, a fantasy. “You say that like it’s impossible,” you began. “We’re both still young Dean. We can still get out, sanity still in tact.”
“Y/N, hunting is all I’ve ever known. I’ve been on the road with Sammy and my dad since I was four years old,” his voice starting to sound full of hurt, but with a hint of exhaustion. “The only home I’ve ever known was burnt down and it took my mom along with it.”
“But this is your dads fight Dean, not yours,” you said, trying to be very cautious of your wording. “He should have never dragged you into this crusade of his. He should have given you and Sammy a choice in the matter.” When it came to Dean, he wasn’t very forthcoming with his background. You knew the basics about how him and his family had gotten into hunting, but you never pried as you felt like it wasn’t necessarily your place; his mothers death always being a touchy subject with him. Which you understood, as your own mother died in a house fire similar when you were six months old. But the difference was, your father gave you the choice if you wanted to be a hunter or not. A choice you made when you turned 18.
There was silence between the two of you as Dean refused to look at you, as he was too deep in thought. He wanted to scream at you, tell you to mind your own business. Tell you that you should understand. But he knew that there was no point in yelling at you, no point in getting upset, because as much as he hated to admit it…you were right. “You know, growing up, I wanted to be a firefighter,” Dean said, finally breaking the silence. “But I know that’ll never be in the cards for me.”
“It still can be,” you commented. “I think you’d make a pretty great one.”
You saw him grin from your comment briefly before his face turned stoic again. “I gotta find out what killed our moms first.”
“And then you’ll become one?” You asked, still entertaining the idea with him.
He shrugged. “Maybe,” he grinned again. “How about you? What did you want to do?”
“Veterinarian,” you confessed. “Animals are much better than people.”
“I heard you have to be really smart to do that,” he said turning to look at you.
“Well it’s a good thing I was an AP kid in school,” you grinned.
“Fucking nerd,” he said, letting out a small chuckle, before patting your thigh.
“But I’m your nerd,” you smiled.
“You bet your ass you are,” he smiled back, giving you a wink.
At least I got you
The hum of the motel room heater was the only sound that filled the space, a steady white noise that almost drowned out the faint patter of rain against the windows. Y/n sat cross-legged on the worn, flower-patterned bedspread, flipping through a dog-eared comic book Dean had snagged for her at a gas station a few days back. Across the room, Sam lay on his stomach, half-asleep.
Dean glanced over from his post near the window, his expression softening as he watched his younger siblings. Despite the dingy, cramped room, there was something about moments like this that made the place feel…normal. As normal as it got for Winchesters, anyway. Their Dad was out on a hunt, promising he’d be back by midnight, but they all knew it would be a day or two. Maybe longer.
Dean stifled a yawn, catching Y/n’s eye as she looked up from her comic. “You doing okay, munchkin?”
Y/n rolled her eyes. “I’m not a twelve, Dean. Practically a teenager”
“Could’ve fooled me,” he teased, tossing a pack of M&Ms her way. She caught it with a triumphant grin, immediately ripping it open.
“Dean, I’m serious,” she huffed, though her smile didn’t fade. “You are just two years older than me, you can’t keep threating me like a kid, besides I’m better at killing monsters than you.”
“No, you’re not.”
“Am too,” Y/n shot back, sticking her tongue out as she threw a pillow at him. It landed square on his head, causing him to let out an exaggerated grunt of protest.
“See? Only kids throw pillows,” Dean smirked, crossing his arms. Y/n rolled her eyes, but the familiar banter felt good, filling the room with a warmth that even the old heater couldn’t match. It made them almost seem normal, Moments like this didn’t come often; most of their time was spent waiting—waiting for Dad, waiting for the next town, the next hunt. But tonight, they could just be themselves, even if only for a little while
Sam finally sat up, rubbing his eyes. “You guys are so loud,” he grumbled as he glared at his older brother and sister
“sorry Sammy” both Dean and Y/n said at the same time
“Think Dad’s okay?” Y/n asked quietly after a pause, her fingers tracing the edge of her comic book. she didn't like to admit it but she often worries that he won't come back. The question hung in the air
Dean’s face softened, and he walked over, ruffling her hair. “He’s fine. You know him—probably giving the monsters a run for their money. Besides, he promised he’d be back, didn’t he?”
“Yeah…” she murmured, the comfort of Dean’s hand on her shoulder making her feel safer. They all knew better than to ask questions about where Dad went or what he was doing. But tonight, for some reason, that worry felt closer, nagging at her.
Dean moved back to his post by the window, as if would somehow speed up his return. Sam shifted over, tucking himself under Y/n’s arm and leaning his head against her shoulder. For all his insistence on being independent, Sam still found comfort in being with his siblings.
“Want me to read to you?” Y/n offered, holding up her comic book. She shot Dean a glance, knowing he’d make fun of her, but he just gave her a small, approving nod.
Sam grumbled. “Only if it’s Batman.”
Y/n smiled, flipping through the pages. “Lucky for you, it is.”
As she read, Dean relaxed in his chair, letting the sound of her voice and the rise and fall of Sam’s breathing fill the quiet. It was almost midnight, and for now, this was enough. They were together. time passed slowly, and soon enough, Sam’s head grew heavy on Y/n’s shoulder, his soft snores filling the air. She tucked him under the thin motel blanket, giving him a gentle pat before settling back down herself.
Dean, still half-awake, watched her with a fond smile. “You’re a good sister, you know that?”
"you are a good sister" she playfully mocked Dean sticking her tongue out to him.
They didn’t know when their Dad would be back, but for now, that didn’t matter. Tonight, they had each other, they would worry about their Dad tomorrow.
ok ok it's theory time bc i'm rewatching mismag 1 as a coping mechanism so potential spoilers ahoy & forgive me if it's rambly i've also had a sedative
the serpent in the storm. the one without a name and only shown as an illumination in the Tome of Nimble Working. is that what was possessing evan? like is it the amalgamation of the "demons" that were haunting him, or even just The Main Guy? i'm not sure if this creature has anything to do with the breaking of magic, I just started thinking about this today at work, but hear me out.
in Class Conflict, the manifestation of the thing haunting Evan when it emerged to protect him was the blood cobra, and the barb that Tallulah hit Evan with after potions class was that all she heard was "hissing noises." so we know that snakes are something evil & monstrous in wizard culture (as much as they were in HP) but not because they're the mascot of the "evil house" Aqarbus. so where did the serpent symbolism come from?
later, in Family on Six when Evan makes the agreement to lean on the demons to save K, the "permanent change" that Brennan describes is that out of the shadow across evan's face "just goes black and is leaking black oil and water." aabira's description of the illumination of this creature was "a mix between a snake and an oil-soaked bird of prey." oil-soaked.
this is kinda what got me thinking in the first place, because what are the things you think of when you think of Evan Kelmp? Bird Facts and Gas Station Parking Lots. this absolutely feels like something Aabria would pull to make Brennan eat the lore he created.
it's also the type of shit she would do because of K's attempts to find any sort of books about what these "demons" might be during the exorcism, only to be met with "you think you're going to find me in a book?" maybe not named. not studied. no anatomical drawings or any sort of understanding as to what it is. but yeah. they'll find it in a book.
i do think that maybe this bird snake entity has been tied to Evan since before his birth---aabria's description in the latest S2 ep: "you feel yourself and the inside of you is empty, and something that was always meant to be poured in is beginning to pour itself back in" tells me that Evan was born to be a vessel for something. now, the demons at the exorcism said that Evan was promised to them. promised by whom? promised by what? maybe by the thing that knew it was going to be held within Evan, and knew that if he were to grow up with a dark enough childhood, if he were to be haunted enough, he might become the Dark One.
now, we don't really know the mythology of the Dark One. we don't know what sort of prophecy was told about it. going off of the general trope of the thing, we've gotta assume that it's something along the lines of "this person will unleash a great terror/darkness/evil upon the world." this likely was supposed to happen as a result of evan's torment like a psychotic break, or maybe as a defense mechanism in a life-or-death situation. either way, this creature and the magic that it represents would have wanted to be released, maybe still using Evan as a vessel and working through him to maintain its unknown, mythological status. this thing isn't Tad, it can't and won't be lulled to sleep.
could this creature have been accidentally released as a result of sam's exorcism? probably, it had to have been a thing or else it wouldn't be on the orery.(besides, this ancient monstrosity would never have anticipated Sam Black). could it be that it was released after K killed Evan? possibly, idk how often gm's rearrange lore behind the scenes to better fit what's happened in the story they're playing through.
whatever the case, I do think that it's not insignificant that Evan only started getting inklings of this sort of repossession leaking in after the events on Seeganpelater. the place where he saw the creature through the serpent's watch (a scene that in illustration implies that, maybe, the serpent could see them, too). the place where he snapped his wand. the place where he killed Boudicca. where we saw him be a magic murderer, where we saw him truly tap into the darkness he's been assigned his whole life. somewhere on cannibal Island, there was a moment of reconnection, and it helps that the very next places they went to were the islands that 1) stressed Evan out beyond belief, and 2) worked with amplification. it was able to strengthen its bond either the minute they landed, or as soon as Evan leaned into his strengths to scratch the tree with his shadow.
maybe this creature is what broke the well of magic. maybe it created the storm and destroyed Gowpenny. maybe this is a version of the Dark One prophecy coming true, breaking the rules of magic to the point that the entire system is broken and the world can never be what it used to. maybe it's not involved in anything and is just reveling in the chaos. I don't know. maybe all of these are coincidences between seasons. fun to think about, though!
I'm torn between "yay! more see something say something chapters!" and "stop adding to the chapter count! I promised myself I wouldn't read it until its complete!". You are severely testing my self-control. I even got so far as reading the first few paragraphs before I could stop myself. They were excellent and I am looking forward to when I inevitably lose control before you finish and then have to wait on tenterhooks for each new chapter.
hahaha if it helps I also wish I could stop adding to the chapter count ...
the problem is that canon sam in the first few seasons has never once in his life cross examined his feelings about dean. DEAN'S feelings and actions and motivations are to be obsessed over and analyzed, but all of his just gets put in a box labeled Dean Shit never to be thought of again. yeah yeah I'll give up my rule against hunting if my brother begs real pretty, I won't place a single ounce of blame for my gf's death on him, I'll die for him, I'll let other people die for him, I'll kill for him, I'll kill other people for him, I will let go of every moral and scrap of normality I have clung to if he's in danger
any thoughts on that? any follow up?? no. it goes in the Dean Shit box that's just none of his business
dean by contrast is obsessed with sam and knowing everything about him and that includes his own emotions for and about sam. they may not be healthy or sane but at least he's aware of them
in see something say something this translates to sam just straight up never interrogating his feelings for dean and just going. whatever. that's Dean Shit
meanwhile dean has been angsting and self flagellating for years because NOT obsessing and overanalyzing something to do with sam?? what else is he going to do
sam is just struggling to buy a clue okay. and they've got to work through all the secrets! it's taking a while ...
Headstrong Hunter
Requested by @i0fty with Prompt #7 from my Prompt List: "You could have died!"
Pairing: Castiel x reader
Genre: Angst, Fluff
Characters: Castiel, Y/N
Description: After finding out that the monster that killed their family had come around in a nearby town, Y/N decides to face it head on, and alone.
You stormed out of your room and into the library with Castiel hot on your heels. Sam and Dean jumped back into their chairs as you threw your hands down on the table, an exasperated look on your face. "Can you two please tell him that I've been a hunter my whole life and I can take care of myself?" They both shot their hands in the air and got up from the table. "We're not getting involved in this." Sam sheepishly walked away with Dean scurrying behind. "Nu-uh, don't want to get involved in the relationship crap." You narrowed your eyes as they walked past you, silently cursing them, until an exasperated breath broke you from your thoughts.
"What, Cas? I've told you, I'm going on this hunt and there's nothing you can do to stop me." You turned around and, sure enough, Castiel stood a mere centimetre behind you. "You know I have the power to stop you. With a flick of my wrist, I could send you back to the room and barricade you inside." You narrowed your eyes and smirked evilly. "Yeah, I know, but you won't. You promised me when we started dating that you would never use your powers on me unless I was dying. Besides, I have a personal stake in this hunt; it's connected to the creature that killed my family. I need to see this through, not just for them but for myself too. I can't keep running from my past, and this is my chance to finally face it head-on." Castiel's expression softened, a mix of concern and understanding flickering in his eyes. He let out a resigned sigh, knowing the depth of your determination and the pain driving you. "Alright, but promise me you'll be careful. I can't bear losing you." You nodded, appreciating his concern even as you stood firm in your resolve. Castiel's protectiveness was something you became accustomed to, a testament to his depth of feelings for you. Yet, you understood that love meant allowing each other to fight your own battles, and this was one you needed to face alone. Despite his celestial powers and ancient wisdom, Castiel respected your feelings, knowing that true partnership was built on trust and mutual support.
You began gathering your gear, meticulously checking each piece to ensure top condition. Your weapons were cleaned and loaded, your knife sharpened to a fine edge, and your backpack was filled the tools you needed. With a determined glance at Castiel, you tucked a protective amulet that he gave you into your jacket. This reminded you of his love for you, and acted as a direct line to him when you needed help. You took a deep breath, ready to embark on your journey. You turned and kissed Cas. His eyes pleaded with you not to go alone and your resolve nearly broke. It took all your strength to turn away from him. With a nod of determination, you set off, ready to take on whatever danger lies ahead. As you walked away, a mix of emotions swirled within you—fear, excitement, and a deep sense of purpose. Leaving Castiel behind was not easy, but you knew this was a journey you had to undertake on your own. The thought of confronting the creature that haunted your past filled you with anxiety, yet it also fueled your determination to finally find closure. Throwing your bag into the backseat, you set off with determination to finish off the monster that had plagued you for most of your life. You knew the monster was part of the werewolf family, but nothing more than that. You had to find the answers you needed to put an end to this nightmare. You were determined to put an end to this once and for all.
The road stretched out before you, winding through dense forests and past desolate fields, each mile bringing you closer to the creature's lair. The sky was overcast, casting a grey pallor over the landscape, mirroring your turmoil. As you drove, the haunting memory of the monster played over and over in your mind. The weight of your mission pressed down on you, but the thought of finally ending this chapter of your life kept you focused and resolved. The memory of the encounter with the creature was still vivid in your mind, etched with clarity. You remembered the chilling sound of its growl and the ferocity in its eyes as it lunged at you from the shadows. That night, you barely escaped with your life, but the scars left were more than just physical. It killed your parents right in front of you which left a massive hole in your heart. You missed them dearly, and you wanted to honour them by killing the monster. You were determined to avenge their death, and you set out to hunt the creature down. You were determined to end its reign of terror and to bring justice to your family.
The monster's lair loomed ahead, a dilapidated mansion shrouded in darkness and overgrown with vines. The windows were shattered, and the front door hung ajar, creaking ominously in the wind. The air around it was thick with an eerie silence, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves, as if the very forest held its breath in anticipation of your arrival. As you approached the mansion, a mix of fear and determination coursed through your veins. Your heart pounded in your chest, each beat echoing the trepidation and courage battling within you. Despite the fear, there was a fierce resolve burning inside, driving you forward with the promise of closure and revenge. Gripping the silver dagger tightly in your hand, you felt its reassuring weight, knowing it was your best defense against the supernatural. In your backpack, a bottle of wolfsbane tincture and a revolver loaded with silver bullets were ready, each item carefully chosen for this mission. You had spent months preparing, studying ancient texts and consulting with experts, ensuring you had every possible advantage against the creature that had taken so much from you. You took a deep breath and stepped through the door.
Inside, the mansion was a haunting tableau of decay and neglect. The grand foyer, once splendid, was now a hollow shell, its marble floors cracked and covered in dust. Tattered remnants of opulent drapes hung limply from shattered windows, and cobwebs draped the corners like ghostly curtains. A grand staircase spiraled upward, its banister broken in several places, leading to shadows that seemed to pulse with the promise of danger. You stopped and listened for any noise but the air was silent. You tiptoed through the mansion, always ready and on-guard for when the monster appeared. You reached a landing at the top of the stairs, and you saw a door that was slightly ajar. You took a deep breath and opened it, slowly and carefully, expecting the worst. As the door creaked open, a wave of anxiety washed over you, tightening your chest and making your breath shallow. Yet, amidst the fear, there was a flicker of hope that this confrontation could finally bring peace to your tormented soul. Your hands trembled slightly, but your grip on the dagger remained firm, a tangible reminder of the strength and courage that had brought you this far. You stepped inside, determined to face whatever lay ahead. As your eyes adjusted to the darkness, you saw a figure standing in the shadows. You held your ground, steeling yourself for what was to come.
"I always knew you would come and find me, Y/N." The figure stepped out of the shadows. It was a tall, imposing figure with eyes that glowed an unnatural shade of amber. The creature's skin was as pale as the moonlight streaming through the broken windows. Its sharp features were accentuated by high cheekbones and an angular jaw. Clad in tattered, dark clothing that blended into the shadows, the figure exuded an aura of menace and ancient power. You stood back slightly, taken aback by the figure's appearance, but soon found your footing again. "How do you know my name?" "I know everything about you". The figure chuckled darkly and a chill ran down your spine; you knew you were in serious trouble. "I've been studying you for some time. It eluded me how you escaped me all those years ago, and so I kept an eye on you until I knew you were ready." Your heart raced, but you steeled yourself and raised the dagger defensively. "I'm definitely ready now. I didn't come here to run." Your voice was strong and unwavering. "Let's end this once and for all." You lunged forward, dagger in hand, determined to put an end to his evil. The figure stepped back, his expression unreadable, and you prepared for the fight of your life. As you lunged again, the figure pushed you down, snatching the dagger from your hand and holding it above your throat, the tip nearly piercing your skin. "You have no idea how long I've been wanting to do this, finish off the last remaining person alive that has seen me." Panic surged through your veins, but you forced yourself to focus, searching for any glimmer of an opportunity to turn the tables. Thoughts of loved ones and promises made flashed through your mind, fueling your resolve. You couldn't let it end here; you had to find a way to survive, to fight back, and to prove that you were more than just prey to this creature.
As you prepared to fight back, the room doors burst open to reveal Castiel. "I suggest you get off them before I kill you." The figure looked up and chuckled darkly as he saw Castiel's appearance. "And what is a little man like you planning to do to something like me?" The figure looked down at you and raised the dagger. You had not seen the hunt going this way. You had always been determined to kill the creature; you didn't want to die. Closing your eyes, you readied yourself for the dagger's impact but instead felt the figure's heaviness leave you. You slowly sat up and watched as Castiel held the creature onto the wall with his powers. "That's where you're wrong. I'm not a man, I'm an angel of the Lord." He looked over at you and held his hand out, motioning for you to come over. Grabbing the dagger that the creature dropped you slowly approached them, your heart beating loudly in your ears.
As you entwined your hand with his, you looked up at Cas and he nodded. It was a silent affirmation, a gesture of trust and solidarity in the face of uncertainty. Cas's nod gave you the courage to confront the creature with resolve, knowing you were not alone. This simple act strengthened your bond, reinforcing the unspoken understanding that you were in this together. You then turned to the creature, a wave of feelings flowing through you. "I have spent my entire life studying you and planning how to kill you. You took everything from me, my family, my home and my life. I will not let you take anything else from me." You held the dagger high in the air and buried it in the creature's chest, a horrifying sound escaping from its mouth. Your legs gave way beneath you from the overwhelming event and you cried. The creature crumpled to the floor as Cas let it down and wrapped his arms around you. "Well done, honey, you did it. You got justice for your mom and dad. I'm so proud of you." He kissed the top of your head and pulled you up to standing, turning you to face him. "How did you know where I was, Cas?" He chuckled and took the amulet from your pocket. "You didn't think this was just a beacon for you to use, did you? This tells me where you are when I'm not with you. I followed you here. I was too worried to let you come here alone; and it's a good thing I did. You could have died, angel. Seeing that monster with the dagger at your throat made me feel things I never want to feel again. Please, next time when I say no, listen to me." You nodded and stood on your tiptoes, bringing Cas in for a well-deserved kiss. As your lips touched his, a whirlwind of emotions surged through you—relief, gratitude, and a lingering sadness for what was lost. The weight of years spent in pursuit of vengeance lifted, leaving behind a profound sense of peace. Yet amid the calm, a small voice inside reminded you that healing would take time, but with Cas by your side, you felt ready to face it.
maybe amelia hadn’t been too on the nose with her last song. she needed him to understand that she was done with him, for good. she wasn’t going to go back to him, not that they had ever been anything for her to go back too. amelia’s schoolgirl crush had been crushed when had drunkenly exclaimed ‘you’re an idiot if you ever think i’m going to love you back. you’re my best mate’s sister, that’s all you’ll ever be to me.’ what was it that they said of drunken words? they were sober thoughts, and as much as it hurt to admit it, she was an idiot for falling for him. but there was no reason for him to be so cruel.
perhaps the part that hurt the most was that he remembered none of his cruel words. to him everything between them was fine, and it pained her that he couldn’t take a hint, he just couldn’t take a hint that she wanted nothing to with him. it also didn’t help that right after that day he announced he had a girlfriend he had been seeing for over 6 months. she had been the other woman, not physically but emotionally, and that was just as bad.
she jumped as her phone rang, the familiar facetime tune breaking her out of her trance. lando’s joyful face stared back at her and she felt horrible for having missed the race. but in her defense she had been too tired to wake up early enough to watch it. she felt horrible but she hoped lando would understand, it’s not like she was breaking a promise.
slowly she reached for her phone to answer, and lando began screaming in joy. amelia flinched at his volume and noticed he was surrounded by other people, oscar being one of them, she could’ve sworn she saw lewis hamilton there too.
“p2!” lando shouted, “i got p2!”
amelia squealed, “congrats! that’s amazing!”
“oscar got p4! we’re literally on top of the world right now!”
“and congrats to koala too,” she smiled. oscar waved at her before someone snatched the phone from lando’s grip. amelia stopped herself from gasping at the sight of daniel ricciardo.
daniel smiled brightly at her, “you must be amelia, i’m daniel. anyways, we’re all dying to know is taylor dating fernando? have you heard anything?”
amelia laughed, “no, i haven’t heard anything. you'll be the first to know if i learn anything."
"sick," daniel claimed, "i like you baby holland."
daniel flipped the camera around to lando, the boy was laid on the floor, being crushed by alex albon and george russell who were cheering him on loudly. daniel turned the camera back around to him, "is that you're new best friend?"
"sadly, he is," amelia said.
"well baby holland, i'll let you go. i'm sure you're a very busy woman."
"i am," amelia agreed, "i'm currently in the studio."
"STUDIO?!" lando exclaimed, "new music? when? get off alex!" lando pushed alex off him as the brunette laughed loudly. lando took his phone from daniel, "when? tell me amelia!"
amelia simply smiled mischievously at him, "oh look, i have to go walk my fish!"
"amelia!" lando shouted as daniel's laughter could be heard as she hung up. her heart warmed knowing lando supported whole-heartedly. his friendship meant so much to her, and she was glad she had dragged herself out of bed the day before
lando norris amelia holland! how dare you do this to me.
oscar piastri who broke your heart? seriously.
lando norris AMELIA! ANSWER THE TEXTS!
oscar piastri please answer, he's been screaming the grudge. i have no clue how he even memorized the lyrics already.
lando norris added one person
lando norris DANIEL! GET HER TO ANSWER THE PHONE! SHE LIKES YOU!
daniel ricciardo baby holland! c'mon! he's getting impatient.
amelia holland sorry, tom and his friend were being annoying.
lando norris what friend?
amelia holland harrison.
oscar piastri i'm sensing some tension with harrison.
lando norris OH MY GOD! HE'S THE INSPIRATION!
oscar piastri oh.
oscar piastri you fell in love with your brother's best friend.
amelia holland i had a crush on him.
daniel ricciardo well fuck harrison.
daniel ricciardo actually don't fuck harrison. but you know what i mean
lando norris TELL ME YOUR LOVE SONGS WEREN'T ABOUT HIM. AMELIA I'M BEGGING!
amelia holland they weren't about him?
daniel ricciardo we're finding you a new muse. i'm making it my mission.
you good?
peachy.
bullshit but okay.
i'm fine oscar. i swear.
you called me oscar, that's never happened. what happened to kangaroo? koala? pastry boy?
maybe i'm not fine. how am i supposed to be fine when the dickhead won't understand that i want nothing to do with him? he strung me along for months making me think that one day we could be something more. so i start releasing songs and he still won't get it.
have you i don't know, tried talking to him?
jeez oscar why didn't i think of that? the only time he ever seems to speak to me is when we're in a group setting. he has a girlfriend.
amelia please tell me he didn't.
cheat on his girlfriend with me? not physically. but emotionally yes.
that guy is a piece of work.
he wasn't always like this.
you’re not seriously defending the guy who cheated on his girlfriend?
i’m defending the guy i used to know. the harrison who was sweet and kind to me. he snuck me candy when my mum didn't allow me to have any. he took me to the movies when my brothers didn't want to hang out with me.
okay. whatever.
why are you getting mad at me?
i’m not mad. i just-
forget it. i have to go.
lando’s insisting i follow him to the club to celebrate
have fun.
i'm sorry
i think i like her...
¡leclerc-s speaks! this series was always meant to be a short series so if it seems like it's a little fast paced, i'm sorry. but i am also doing a lot of time jumps, so realistically it's not moving that fast.
¡disclaimer! this is in no way making assumptions about the people involved in this story, this is all fake. it is a fanfiction please don't take any of what is said seriously. this is all for entertainment purposes and as a creative outlet for me. enjoy!
Good morning Miss Winnie. (Part II)
Part I
Pairing: Dean Winchester X Reader.
Rating: Gen.
Summary:
Two weeks after Dean became a father, it's time to jump back on the hunting horse. But he's hesitant.
Notes: Non-canon, no time line. And I don't ever want kids. But I just became an aunt and I sort of need to get this out of my system! Short and I'm not promising that I won't continue this. Who knows really. Finally this was written after I'd taken my usual nightly gummy.
“Bonnie?”
You shot Dean a look across the kitchen. He was cooking eggs on the stove while you were nursing. Castiel was the only other member of the bunker awake at six a.m. and, fortunately, occupied the library. It wasn’t that you cared about the other men seeing you breastfeeding, it was how they reacted to it. Both became very awkward and outwardly attempted to look anywhere but at your breasts.
“You can’t accept Winnie, but you pick Bonnie?”
Dean shrugged.
“I was just thinking if we had a boy we could call him Clyde. We’d have our own little gang.”
“Firstly, I’m not doing this again. And secondly, Bonnie and Clyde were felons.”
“What do you mean ‘you’re not doing this again?’ Don’t most women go crazy for more kids? They smell the baby's head and some hoo-doo helps them forget about the pain and bodily fluids.”
“Yeah, well. You try being in labour for damn near forty eight hours and shitting yourself in a room full of people. Including the man you love. Then come back and tell me you’ve forgotten about it and wanna do it all over again.”
“Point taken.” Dean laughed, plating up eggs and bacon for them both, “And you didn’t shit yourself by the way.”
“I didn’t?”
“I think I’d remember.”
You smiled at the plate of food and carefully lifted the baby from your breast. She’d long since stopped feeding and was instead squirming, ready to be winded.
“I can take it from here.” Dean reached down and lifted the little girl up into his arms. He held her upright against his chest and began rubbing circles into her small back, “There we go kiddo. Get it up.”
“Be careful.” You warned.
“I’m not taking any chances.” Dean gestured to the polka-dot muslin cloth on his shoulder.
You watched as he gently walked your daughter around the kitchen, her little body squirming while he cooed into her ear. She made several little squeaking noises, threatening to cry, only to be brought back to earth by her father’s tender voice.
“Come on now, no tears. I’ve got you.”
Your eyes locked with Dean’s for a moment, both reflecting a soft smile. He was proving to be an excellent father, not that you’d doubted him for a second. But Sam had. He’d been very vocal about Dean knowing nothing about babies and how, despite the fact that he was happy for you both, he thought this whole ‘raising a family thing’ was a bad idea.
“You guys are great together! But I don’t think this is the right environment for a kid.” Or something along the same bullshit.
Dean had been adamant about her though. He damn near refused to speak to Sam until he stopped with his questions and logical answers. Sure you both had been sceptical about bringing a child into this life, but neither of you had actively prevented it. If it happened, it happened.
Speaking of the devil. Sam groaned and stretched his arms above his head, stumbling into the kitchen. He dug the palm of his hands into his eyes, drawing them down his face afterwards.
“Morning. Coffee’s in the pot.” Dean said, his voice shifting from Dad to brother by just an octave.
Sam poured himself a hefty mug before offering more to the kitchen. You declined but insisted that he fill up Deans.
“He’ll need the caffeine for your hunt.”
“Oh so you’re back on the job then?” Sam questioned, his eyebrows rising.
Dean’s brow furrowed as he shifted the little one on his chest. He searched her face, the cogs visibly turning in his head.
“I’ll get back to you on that one.”
“What? I thought you’d be happy to get back on the horse.” You’d assumed that after being out of work for almost two weeks that Dean would be craving a hunt, but his face said otherwise.
“Yeah. I mean I am. But she - “
“She’ll be right here when you get back.” You interrupted, “It’s a simple in and out job. Right Sam?”
“Sure. Run of the mill ghost in the attic for some old friend’s of Bobby’s.” Sam took a lengthy sip of his coffee, “And it pays too.”
“See? And we could use the cash for Winnie.”
Sam scoffed, barely holding onto the coffee in his mouth. He looked between you both and then to his niece.
“Winnie?”
“Short for Winchester but not her name. Just a placeholder until we find the perfect one.” You inform, “But what’s so wrong with Winnie anyway? It’s a perfectly acceptable name.”
“Nothing wrong with it at all. It’s just not what I pictured you both to come up with.”
“Fortunately it’s not.” Dean added, shifting the baby from one arm to the other as she reached up with her little hands, “As for the hunt, I’m not sure.”
He offered a finger for her hand to close around, eyes never leaving her. the features on his face softened, lips almost pulling downwards into a frown.
You exchanged a knowing look with Sam.
“If this is about Win- her- you don’t need to worry. I can cope fine on my own for one night.” You offered
“Yeah but what if it isn’t just one evening?” Dean answered, his voice doing nothing to disguise the concern he was feeling.
“It’s only a few towns over. We’ll be home by four am - ”
“But what if something goes wrong? Huh? Then what? I’ve left my wife without a husband, my little girl without a father. And -”
You jumped to your feet at the distress in his voice and rushed to loop an arm around his middle.
“Don’t say that. It’s a run of the mill job, something you guys have done one thousand times over. Nothin’ bad is gonna happen other than a few bruises.” You laid your head on his shoulder, eyes coming to settle on the little lady in his arms, “I can deal with those. And she’ll not know any different.”
With a deep sigh, Dean kissed you gently on the head. It was an uncharacteristic display of affection, especially in front of his brother, but you hadn’t the heart to react. You knew he was feeling vulnerable, that much was clear in his reaction, and to draw attention to it would only make things worse. Instead you settled against him and allowed his warmth and the soothing sounds of your baby to still your own anxiety.
You’d be lying if you didn’t admit that some part of you was fearful of your husband walking out of the bunker and never coming home. Hunting was a dire job, one which had claimed the life of many of your comrades. Dean may be an experienced hunter, renowned in his own right, but he certainly wasn’t immune to unfortunate outcomes. That much had been proven time and time again.
Lost in thought, the only sounds in the kitchen were the gentle fussing of your daughter and the whirring of the circulation fans.
Finally Castiel broke the silence with his sudden entrance. He appeared in a flurry of feathers, one coming to land on the table top by your abandoned coffee cup.
“We have doors, Cas. Use ‘em.” Dean warned, pulling your daughter closer to his chest as she began to fuss.
“I’m sorry, Dean. It’s a force of habit.” Castiel answered, taking a seat next to Sam, “I startled her.”
“You think?!”
You moved to take the baby from Dean but he shook his head, whispering a small ‘I got this’ back to you as he started to rock her from side to side. But it was no good, her cries grew louder and more furious. You began to wonder how those big sounds could even come from such a small creature.
Before you could offer your help again Castiel brushed past you.
“I didn’t mean to scare her.” He said, coming to stand in front of Dean “Is there anything I can do?”
“Here” to your surprise, Dean held your daughter out towards the angel, “You can settle her down while I grab her diaper bag.”
You lean in and quickly sniff.
“I don’t think she needs changed, D.”
“Well I don’t know what else to do. She -”
Castiel reached forward and lifted the infant from Dean. He brought her to settle in the crook of his arm, offering up his fingers for her to grab at. Gradually she began to quiet, her hands reaching up for Castiel’s and her eyes wide, staring into his face.
You and Dean watched on in outward confusion. Castiel, to your knowledge, had never handled a baby before. At least not in recent years.
“How did you do that?” Dean asked almost aggressively, “She was cryin’ up a storm seconds ago and you just took her and nothing.”
“Did you use your grace?” Sam suggested.
“She’s much too small to handle my grace in any capacity. It would kill her.”
You considered jumping in and taking her from Castiel but stopped yourself. She was settled and happily holding onto the angel's fingers. No sense in ruining it. Beside you Dean was tense, clearly struggling with something along the same lines. His face was etched in hard lines and you could see his brows furrowing.
Gently you looped your arm through his and guided him to his long forgotten coffee cup. He moved but his eyes never left you daughter in the angel’s arms.
“So,” Sam cleared his throat, “About this hunt.”
“What about it?” Dean glared at him over the rim of his cup.
“Are you in or -”
“He’s in.” You answer before the question could even be finished.
“Wha - I -”
“Oh come on. You got this. I can handle her and Cas will be here if I need any help. Right Cas?” The angel gave something akin to a positive response, “You have to get back out there at some point.”
Dean’s gaze flickered from Sam to you, finally coming to land on Castiel. He watched the angel gently swaying the little girl in his arms and the lines on his face began to soften.
“Hmmm. You’re sure about this?” He asked.
“Positive.”
“If there’s any trouble, anything at all, you call me.”
“Sure.” You smiled, “But I doubt Winnie will be as much of an issue as your malevolent spirit.”
Dean chuckled, accompanied by Sam.
“God, we’re really going to have to talk about her name when I get back.”
