You want ideas, I have an idea for the fourth part of the soulmate AU.
We left the last part with Stone cooking for Sylvester and it kinda left it open for Mārīte to get some of what Stone was cooking (presumably when her school was done ofc). So what if this fourth part was that Stone and Sylvester were enjoying their little date so much that Stone stayed until it was time for Sylvester to pick up Mārīte and then maybe he's still there when they come back or maybe he's already left but there was still some of mashed potatoes and chicken for Mārīte so she eats it for dinner or something and then she falls in love with Stone's cooking.
I hope that made sense.
still sulking at how you predicted what i wanted to write... but alas. here u go, king. cuz ily <3 also using this to desensitize myself to calling stone 'vikram' instead. cuz it feels illegal. but. uh. sylvester would not fucking call him stone. ever. and because this is sorta from his pov.. yeag <3
wc: 1k
Gathering the dirty dishes in the sink, Sylvester was about to pull on the rubber gloves to wash everything up after the dinner, when a disgruntled Vikram engulfed him from behind.
"I would have washed them."
"I know."
"Then why are you not letting me?" He asked, voice sounding ever so slightly like a whine.
"Because that's not how things go in this house. One person cooks, the other cleans. Easy as that, yea?" Sylvester says, scrubbing down on the plates, making small foam bubbles fly up in the process.
"I see. Why the gloves?"
"Sensitive skin. Even got rashes once from the chemicals."
"... That just proves I should be the one doing it," Vikram huffed "and you should get new dishwasher fluids too. You could be allergic."
"Eh, doesn't make a difference to me. There's half a bottle to finish. But if you're insisting on helping, you can dry everything off-!"
Before finishing his train of thought, the catman gets startled by his phone alarm blaring in the other room, and pulls off the gloves to turn it off. "Oh gods, Where'd the time go? Sorry, I gotta pick up Mary!" He fumbles with his coat and shoes, before looking up at the sound of running water.
"What are you doing...? You're not leaving?"
"There's dishes that need washing. I'll behave."
"... You better. Shit, uhh.. Be back in 20 minutes, I swear if you've robbed the place when we get back-! Gah!" He groans, frustrated with himself, rushing around the apartment for the final bits he needs, notably. the car keys.
"I won't. I don't have the room, or need, for half this junk."
"HEY! Alright, fine. Remember, 20 minutes!" he calls out, before rushing into the stairwell, the doors slamming behind him.
Luckily for him, the traffic was more manageable than usual, and with a few minutes to spare, him and his daughter made it back home.
Sylvester couldn't help but give the kid a little warning as they make it up the stairs to the third floor "Just so you know, there's someone at home. He may be gone when we get there, but he's the one who's my soulmate... So be polite, alright?"
"Mhm!" The girl eagerly agreed, clinging onto her father's arm, trotting along, her other hand clutching onto a small, dripping wet umbrella.
Before unlocking the door, Sylvester couldn't help but cast a nervous glance at the compass on his wrist.
... Oh no.
It pointed directly in the way of where the kitchen should be. His soulmate, Vikram, hadn't left.
Bracing himself for the worst, he unlocks the door, but cannot see anything out of the ordinary. Exhaling deeply in relief, he helps Mārīte to take off her coat and shoes, before patting her head.
"Go put the umbrella to dry in the tub, won't you?"
Nodding eagerly, she skips off, before going to her bedroom, as Sylvester pokes his head in the kitchen upon hearing the telltale sound of dishes clanking.
And there he was.
Standing with his back to the door, is the soulmate in question. However...
"You're still here... and what are you doing in my apron?" Sylvester asked, already dreading the moment he'll turn around. The text of 'kiss the cook' was engraved in his mind. The damn thing was a gag gift, to poke fun at his cooking skills, or lack thereof.
"Am I not allowed to? I'm making tomorrow's lunch. For you, obviously."
"What? Why?"
"Because I assume the little lady hiding behind the doorway is hungry."
Whipping around, only to see his daughter there, he sighs, and waves her over, grumbling "Very well..."
"Whassat?" Mārīte asks, hauling herself up on the chair to get a better look. The food already plated for her, as Vikram smiles.
"Potatoes, mashed, as well as some chicken. You like that?"
"Mhm!! Smells good!" She grins, digging in, as Sylvester looks around the, now disturbingly clean, kitchen, and his eye is drawn to the, still unfinished, salmon on the pan.
"I didn't know I had that..."
"Me neither. Until I found it in the back of the freezer. You really should defrost and clean it more often" The man states, narrowly missing a light smack from Sylvester's thrashing tail.
"Yeah yeah.. What even is that?" He asks, eyeing the pot as he lifts the lid, only to see rice. "Ah. Never mind."
"I hope that will suffice?" Vikram asks, and Sylvester is once again interrupted, as the girl squeals, eyes sparkling and her fuzzy tail lifted up in delight. Sylvester's ears even flicker as he picks up a slight purr resonating from her.
"Thank you!! That was so yummy!" She rumbles, rattling on excitedly "Can you please come over more?? Dad isn't this good!"
"... Ouch kid.." Sylvester mumbles to himself, his ears pinning back, not wanting to admit how that hurt his pride.
And much to Sylvester's dismay, Vikram nods, barely hiding a small, self-satisfied, grin "Of course I will."
Happy and full, Mārīte waddles out, presumably back to her room, as the two men are left alone again, Sylvester looking less than pleased, but biting back his tongue.
"... Thanks..."
"You're welcome. Fish looks about ready, as well as the rice. I will get going now, after I get this thing off."
Watching as he struggles to untie the apron, Sylvester caves and helps him out, undoing the knot carefully, as he then eyes the text, before hanging the garment in its rightful place.
"What. Am I not getting my kiss?" His thoughts are interrupted as Vikram looks down at him, a challenging look in his eyes.
"No. Well... Maybe you'll just have to try harder next time. Now scram, I'm bloody exhausted.
The shorter of the two grumbles as he leans against the wall, observing the other pull on the boots and coat.
He offers nothing but a nod as he leaves, just watching as the door clicks shut behind him, and the footsteps fade away.
