I love all of your fics and like the general vibe of them. I can't really like articulate the vibe, but mainly I'm thinking of Mongrel Heart, Help Me Out of the Shape I'm In, The Night We Met, and Is There a Ghost. I love these so much. Weird question, but do you have any book recommendations that are like these fics? I don't know if you've read anything that sort of inspired how you write, but if so, I would love to know them!
I just had so much fun going downstairs and combing through my bookcases, thank you anon
I feel like I'm more inspired by music than I am books, and I'll be honest, as I get older, I read less and less (alas). But when I was younger, all I did was read. Nancy Drew & any fantasy book I could get my hands on as a kid. Then I went through my pretentious phase while working at Barnes & Noble, where I would pick out the most obscure looking fiction books while I scanned the section (this was also my nonfiction phase). Then I got really into mysteries. Now I barely have any attention span and mostly read romance, but otherwise I'm always on the lookout for semi-fantasy/fairytale/creepy vibes sort of things. (If anyone has recommendations for me, I'd gladly take them. Especially creepy novellas. Adore those, as you could probably tell from my list)
Under the cut for actual recs because as usual I cannot shut up:
1. This one is the most direct answer, the semi inspiration for Mongrel Heart - cop goes back to hometown, starts remembering Thing In the Woods.
I love Tana French in general. If I had to pick one author I feel like I took the most inspiration from, it would be her. This one I remember not loving the ending of, but clearly the vibes & general plot stuck with me. I'd actually recommend The Likeness (which I've also thought about jonsa-ing) and The Secret Place.
2. Do I normally vibe with Stephen King? Eh. I only tried to read one of his horror books once, The Shining, and I just could not get into it. But pulp Stephen King?? Yes please. I really dug this mystery, as well as The Colorado Kid a whole lot.
I have read a ton more mystery series, but these stuck with me the most. Shoutout to the foreign mysteries I read back when I liked to torture myself with really depressing things (sjowall & wahloo, indridason, mankell...)
3. If you're just looking for some creepy-vibes books:
(Of note, World More Full of Weeping & Light Boxes I read at least a decade ago in my B&N "buy any weird looking pretentious book" phase, but I remember really liking them, especially World More Full of Weeping. Carnality I read recently. I both hated it and couldn't stop thinking about it.)
4. Fairytail-esque but also with creepy vibes:
(I remember really liking Bear and the Nightingale, have thought of jonsa-ing it, but I'd need to reread it. RIP to my copy of Comfort Me with Apples, I think my friend borrowed it?)
5. Non-fiction that gave me those good good vibes
AND BECAUSE I CANT DO MORE THAN TEN IMAGES HERE ON TUMBLR DOT COM
Not pictured non-fiction:
The Monster of Florence - Douglas Preston & Mario Spezi
Just Kids - Patti Smith (although I did read this when I was deathly ill so that might account for the surreal vibes I got reading it?)
#cellsshapedlikeasks#books#there is a story#that i wanted to include here#but i read it a very long time ago#and only remember basics#and i don't even remember if it was a short story or a full novel#i tried skimming through a bunch of my short story collections#(forgot to mention my short story phase)#but i couldn't find it#which sucks because i feel like it fits the question#because i think about it a lot#like the tone of it#and how it made me feel#i really can never shut up can i

Absolute Lithops Effect, Werewolf Gimmick, Fresh Tattoo
Absolute Lithops Effect
Ideally I would just put the entire song lmao, this one has been very important to me for a long time! Songs about when you haven't recovered from something yet but you've gotten to the point where you know you will recover? Or, as JD puts it, "songs about sitting alone in a room waiting for something to happen." Yeah man.
The lyric I'd pull after a re-listen though is:
And I will go to the house of a friend I know And I will let myself forget With a little water And a little bit of sunlight And a little bit of tender mercy, tender mercy
Because sometimes getting better happens with time but it often does take conscious effort and other people, you know? You don't have to isolate yourself until you get better. Werewolf Gimmick
Get told to maybe dial it back backstage later on
This has always been my favorite lyric from this song because the delivery is so fucking funny to me. Like right in the middle of a song with lyrics like "let him who thinks he knows no fear look well upon my face" the passiveness of "told to maybe dial it back" conjures up the image of a very tired wrestling manager rubbing his temples and saying "hey bud.... are you like... okay? bc I'm getting some weird vibes" and I find it so funny.
Fresh Tattoo
Once again - I could list the lyrics of the whole song. This song has so much going for it. It has parallels to Absolute Lithops Effect "you lay on the couch three weeks, until the color came back into your cheeks" from the perspective of someone taking care of another person in recovery. It has the narrator lying to someone to keep distance from them because they know they're going to leave ("I gave you an answer that I thought you'd buy") which is the kind of avoidant self-destructive nonsense I love in a character. But my favorite lyric is still the one I find kind of funny:
Headed for a season in exile As the oracle predicted According to reliable sources In thirty days I'm getting evicted
It just captures a lot of what I like about JD's songwriting.

What can I say? I was in a Priestley kinda mood today 💙😏
I still haven't written for this character, although I love this dude with my whole heart. Someone should send me a prompt lol 😂
But God, this story gave me everything I wanted and more. I had all the feels! 🥹💙💙💙
Priestly bopped his head to the music playing from his earbuds. His iPod was tucked in his right jean pocket while he speared the mop across the floor of the sandwich shop. It was three minutes to closing time on a Saturday night, and it was his turn to clean up and lock up.
He's such a sweet dork! How could anyone not love him? 😭
Priestly heaved a sigh. What were you supposed to do with gifts from your ex that you actually liked? The gifts that made it into your everyday life, not just because they were from the person you thought you loved, but because it was actually hella practical and a nice accessory to keep on your person?
Lol honestly, if it's a gift you like and it doesn't hurt you too much, keep it. Full disclosure: my husband once received a fluffy pillow from an ex and it's my absolute favorite. I sleep on it every night and don't give a shit 😂
What was he supposed to do, have a ritual burning of everything Tish had ever touched?
Omg like Emily when she wanted to get back together with Ross! Where's Gunther? Maybe he wants to buy everything 🤣
That would take all damn night. And he definitely drew a line at his dick.
DECEASED 🤣🤣🤣 (Zep, don't make me quote this whole damn fic...)
And ugh, oh God, I hate situations like forgetting your wallet and then you stand there like an idiot and can't pay 🙈 But it was so sweet of him to offer it to her for free, although poor Priestley probably doesn't earn enough either to do charity like this so easily 🫶
If you were his girlfriend, he would do his best not to let you walk away angry at him, let alone this late at night, without any money or even your ID.
Yes, my boy, that's 'cause your a superb human being 💙
I’ve wrapped myself up in so many knots, I don’t even recognize myself.
Awww, he can relate after Tish. I honestly hated that he changed at the end of the movie. Like, whyyyyyy????? Tish would've liked him like he was, too?! What kinda message were they tryna send here? 🙈
“Yeah, I do,” you answered. “I’m a quick study. I could learn to eat pussy.” If he had been drinking something, he would’ve spat it out. He mentally fumbled for a moment before he could articulate a response.
Now I've died twice during one fic – noice 🤣🤣🤣 Also, I can relate with reader here. We've all been there and asked ourselves this very question 😂
And his response was GOLD 😆🫶
“Boaz Priestly. Interesting,” you nodded.
I honestly would love to meet Mr. & Mrs. Priestley and ask them tons of questions about how they raised such an awesome son 💙 Ooooo fic idea! Tell me how reader met his parents??? 🤓
And now, the angst in between was delicious. I also didn't expect it. I thought for sure she'd be back the next day. I really felt for his suffering there 😅 (Especially with Tish watching... 🙄 And while does she still work there? I do imagine it was Ross/Rachel post-break up vibes in the sandwich shop lol)
“Let’s talk outside. Little more privacy from the peanut gallery,” Priestly said to you, tossing a knowing glance over his shoulder. You spotted all the employees now watching you and Priestly closely. You became a touch more shy as he led you out of the shop with a hand resting on the small of your back.
Hahaha it's like the Friends too 😂
Aww, the ending was too sweet 🥹🥰 I love how shy they were around each other and that she essentially told him he should ask her out 😆
I'd honestly love to read more about these two! I adored this ❤️❤️❤️
The Miracle Man
Pairing: Boaz Priestly x F. Reader
Summary: The first time you met Priestly was both the worst and best night of your life. He gave you a Miracle.
AN: Here’s the prequel to Code Red! (But this can also be read as stand alone.) I hope you enjoy. And just a note, remember this was circa 2007, still the era of flip phones and iPods, despite the advent of the iPhone.
Word Count: 3,500

He was a lone ranger in the Wild West. His weapon of choice?
A dirty mop.
Priestly bopped his head to the music playing from his earbuds. His iPod was tucked in his right jean pocket while he speared the mop across the floor of the sandwich shop. It was three minutes to closing time on a Saturday night, and it was his turn to clean up and lock up.
He was looking forward to getting home, taking a shower, and diving face-first into his bed. But first, he just needed to kill three minutes.
Come on, come on, come oooon, he sang in his mind as the hands on his watch ticked on. While glancing down at said watch, he remembered it had been a gift from Tish for his birthday…
Three months ago. When they were still together.
Priestly heaved a sigh. What were you supposed to do with gifts from your ex that you actually liked? The gifts that made it into your everyday life, not just because they were from the person you thought you loved, but because it was actually hella practical and a nice accessory to keep on your person?
It’s just a damn watch. Don’t make it a big deal, he reminded himself. What was he supposed to do, have a ritual burning of everything Tish had ever touched?
That would take all damn night. And he definitely drew a line at his dick.
“Hello?”
The front door of the shop opened, the little bell Trucker installed chiming with too much cheer and startling Priestly out of his thoughts.
“We’re closed,” he said. But that was before he looked up, and had to pause in his mopping.
You were standing there, holding yourself in the open doorway with the cold breeze hitting your back. You were wearing a red cocktail dress and the highest black heels he’d ever seen, with your styled hair falling around your shoulders.
You were entirely too beautiful to be in this old sandwich shop, he thought. It had Priestly swallowing, frozen in time.
“Really? The sign says 10,” you pointed out. There was a level of desperation in your eyes. “Please, you’re the only place with the lights still on and I’ve been all up and down the block.”
Blinking out of his idiotic state, Priestly looked down at his watch again. It was exactly 9:59 p.m.
Well, damn. Got me on a technicality.
He held in a sigh.
“Okay, come on in,” he waved you over. Setting down his mop, he rounded the counter and went to man the register. He gave you a minute to peruse the menu. He noted that aside from your stunning attire, you had a cell phone in your hand that clearly couldn’t fit in that little purse hanging off your shoulder, bumping along your hip.
He couldn’t help but visually trace the curves of your hips and waist, back up to the sweetheart neckline of the dress, the deeper shade of your lipstick and up to your face.
But then he felt bad for staring, so he looked up heavenward before you caught him.
Meanwhile, your eyes drifted from the menu and dipped to his chest for a moment.
“Too bad I’m not gay,” you said.
What? Priestly frowned in confusion. But following your gaze, he realized you were staring at his yellow shirt, which read in big, 70s-style letters: Be Gay & Proud, Get a Free Drink.
His lips twitched at a grin, and he looked up at you. “D’you know what you want?”
You had a smile starting to play on your lips as well. You went back to considering your choices.
“Not sure, but I’m starving. What do you recommend?” you asked.
Priestly’s lips puckered as he considered the menu he knew by heart.
“Well, if you wanna go classic, I’d do a Spicy Italian on white bread. If you wanna be adventurous, we just added the Jalapeño Buffalo Chicken Club," he said. "But, if you wanna get crazy awesome, I can put on some Zeppelin and make you something special of my own design.”
He colored that last option with a gesture of his hand, a flourish, if you will. You tilted your head at him and smiled.
“Okay. Surprise me, Sandwich Man.”
Priestly snorted while he washed his hands again. “Sounds like the lamest superhero ever.”
“With his death-defying salami summoning powers,” you quipped, with a giggle that had him smiling as well.
“Nice alliteration,” he said. And he made a show of tying his apron back on. “Don’t worry, ma’am. Your late-night hoagie is safe with me.”
You tried to stifle another laugh while he worked his magic. From bread to meats and cheeses and toppings, Priestly was a master of his craft. He had that 12” hero wrapped and sliding across the counter towards you in record time.
“I call this the ‘Miracle,’” he winked. “You’ll see why. But that’ll be $10 even.”
You nodded and turned to the purse on your hip. You opened up the little velvety thing, but your face fell when all you found was your keys, not your credit card.
“No.” Your heart dropped into your stomach. You opened your purse wider and flipped through the satin insides, but you saw that it was empty. “You’ve gotta be shitting me. I know I had my wallet in here…”
And then it dawned on you.
“That fucking asshole,” you growled.
Priestly’s eyes widened. “Uh…”
Your head snapped up to his. “I had a different purse picked out for tonight. You know, one that actually had my wallet in it? But my know-it-all boyfriend had the nerve to say, ‘That one’s too shiny, looks kinda cheap. This is a restaurant at the Ritz-Carlton, not a hooker hangout.’ Can you believe that?”
Priestly blinked in confusion, but he realized that in your purse shuffling, you had no way to pay for this amazing sandwich he’d just concocted.
And now, you actually had the beginnings of frustrated tears in your eyes as you took in a shuddering breath.
“I’m so sorry,” you said. “I can’t—I can’t pay for this. I don’t have my wallet… Hold on, let me see if he’ll…”
You held up a finger and started dialing manically on your phone. You held it up to your ear and waited. Your tears sprang forth anew when the line just kept ringing until it sent you to voicemail.
“Figures,” you scoffed. “The one time I actually need this douchebag to answer, he ignores me!”
You slammed the phone down on the counter and covered your face with your hand as you sniffled. Priestly softened with sympathy. You seemed to be having a harder night than he thought.
He slid the sandwich your way, making you raise your head.
“It’s okay. This one’s on the house,” he said. “Looks like you could use a pick-me-up.”
Your watery eyes met his. “Really? You don’t have to…”
“No worries,” he replied, giving you a bit of charm in his grin. “I’ll even throw in a soda. Lady’s choice.”
Your lower lip trembled, but you were able to smile. With a quiet thank you, you wiped under your eyes carefully so your mascara wouldn’t run. Then you grabbed a Coke from the machine along with your sandwich from the counter.
“Do you mind if I eat here?” you asked, gesturing at one of the tables. “I promise I won’t leave a mess. I know you’re trying to close up.”
Priestly waved a dismissive hand. “Sure. Don’t worry about it.”
He went around the counter to take up his mop and continue where he left off in the cleaning process. But he couldn’t help but eye you every now and then. Curiosity was starting to eat him alive.
Had your boyfriend just dumped you here? Had you gone off alone? Somehow, he couldn’t see the first option happening. If you were his girlfriend, he would do his best not to let you walk away angry at him, let alone this late at night, without any money or even your ID.
“Are you coming from a party or something?” he found himself asking. You looked up from your second bite of the sandwich. You’d looked to have been truly enjoying it, uttering a moan that’d caught his attention.
“No,” you chuckled humorlessly around a mouthful of bread. “I was supposed to meet his parents. His rich, very bougie, hyper-critical parents. Somehow it didn’t occur to me that he was just like them.”
Priestly paused and leaned on his mop. He was hesitant, not wanting to disturb you while you were eating, but he was too damn hooked.
“So…what happened?” he asked. You scoffed and took another massive bite of your sandwich.
“Okay, you want to hear this? Fine,” you began. “So, I’m a stress eater by nature. Let’s just start with that.”
“Who isn’t?” Priestly supplied. Pursing your lips, you raised a black olive at him in a thank you gesture.
“But when I tell you I spent three months depriving myself to fit into this dress. No carbs, cheese, chocolate, or happiness.”
He grimaced. “That’s no way to live.”
“Exactly!” you concurred. “But I did all that so my boyfriend would have nothing to say when I finally met his parents for this dinner—to celebrate him graduating from med school.”
Priestly found himself dimming inside. Not only were you spoken for, but you were with a future doctor, no less. The only title Priestly had to his name was Sandwich Man.
“It started with the purse thing when he picked me up. Then when we get there, he keeps telling me how stuffy his dad is and how judge-y and critical his mom can be and how I’m a reflection on him,” you mocked in an impression of his voice.
“Then I find myself second-guessing every word that might come out of my mouth, and I’m too nervous to even eat the $60 plate of Chilean sea bass in front of me, and not to mention, there’s a glass of wine in my hand. I don’t even like wine!”
By now, it was all Priestly could do to keep up with your verbal spitfire. You were also gesticulating wildly with your sandwich the more worked up you got.
“I mean, I’m saying things I don’t say, and suddenly I realize that I’ve wrapped myself up in so many knots for this man, I don’t even recognize myself,” you confessed. Your eyes lit up with a gleam of clarity. Your hands lowered down to the table, and after a beat, you continued eating.
“But then my boyfriend of over a year turns to me and says, ‘Why are you being so weird and frigid?’” you said. You met Priestly’s eyes. “I just, I got so mad. I wanted to choke him out with my napkin, you know?”
He bit his lip to stifle a laugh.
“So instead of violence, I grabbed the glass of pinot noir, or chardon-perignon-whatever-the-fuck, and I poured it in his lap,” you concluded. “Then I walked out. And I ignored his calls. And I kept walking. Then a nice guy made me a sandwich.”
Priestly had to smile at that. He knew there was a Ritz-Carlton in the area, but that had to be almost a mile down the street. You’d walked a long way in those crazy-ass heels.
He propped his mop against a nearby table and sat down across from you. He shook his head in wonderment. And inside, your words kind of rattled him.
I’ve wrapped myself up in so many knots, I don’t even recognize myself.
“You know, sometimes I really, really wish I was gay,” you said, gesturing at his shirt.
“O-Oh…really?” he asked, raising his brows.
“Yeah, I do,” you answered. “I’m a quick study. I could learn to eat pussy.”
If he had been drinking something, he would’ve spat it out. He mentally fumbled for a moment before he could articulate a response.
“Well, I don’t doubt you, but it can be an acquired taste. Though I happen to like it,” he replied, grinning mostly to himself. He didn’t even think about how it might come out though.
As soon as he realized what he was saying to a perfect stranger, his eyes widened and met yours.
"Uh, sorry," he said.
But you just chortled in amusement. Your blush intensified though, along with your smile as you took a sip of your soda.
“You’re uh…you’re pretty awesome,” he said. And he meant that.
You blinked in surprise. Your lips twitched upwards, a blush rosy in your cheeks.
“Yeah?” you asked. His smile deepened.
“Yeah,” he replied. “And for the record, I know I just met you, but…I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Your face softened with a certain shyness, but you smiled at him through your lashes.
“Well, I appreciate that…” you trailed, realizing you didn’t yet know his name.
“Priestly,” he offered, along with his hand across the table. You slipped your smaller hand in his and gave him your name.
Though you quirked a brow at him. “Priestly? That’s your first name?”
Now it was his turn to get a little embarrassed.
“Uh, no,” he said, his gaze falling from yours. He scratched the back of his head, under the blue mohawk.
“Oh. What is it, then?” you asked.
“You don’t want to know,” he chuckled wryly.
“I think I do, or I wouldn’t be asking,” you countered. Your smile was playful though. Disarming, even.
“It’s um, it’s Boaz,” he admitted. You tilted your head, as if swirling the name around in your head. But you didn’t say it was weird, or stupid, or too biblical. You just smiled.
“Boaz Priestly. Interesting,” you nodded. Then you wrapped up your garbage, having eaten all of your sandwich. You made sure to collect every crumb, even though he’d told you not to worry about the mess. You got up to take it to the trashcan near the door.
“How’re you getting home?” he asked.
You bit your lip. The anxiety in your eyes told him you’d been pondering that same question. You let out a deep breath.
“I guess I’ll have to walk back to the hotel, try to get a ride from my b…my ex-boyfriend. Gotta get used to saying that,” you said. “I promise I’ll pay you back for the sandwich.”
“Didn’t I tell you it was on me? Don’t worry about that,” said Priestly. “But I’ll tell you what, let me give you a ride.”
You shook your head. “Oh, thank you, but we just met, and I—”
Just then, Priestly realized how his offer sounded. He didn’t want to creep you out.
“Ah, or I can get you a cab,” he said. “I doubt you want to see that guy again tonight, do you?”
You bit your lip, smudging some of the scarlet red lipstick there. It distracted him for a moment, but he returned his gaze to your eyes.
You sighed. As much as you didn’t want to impose again, you let Priestly call you a cab. He paid for it in advance after you gave the cabbie your address. Before you got in the car, you turned to Priestly and touched his arm.
“Thank you,” you said. “I promise, I’ll come tomorrow and pay you back.”
He smiled. “You can try.”
He earned your sweet smile back, and he watched you get into the cab. He tried not to raise his hopes up, but he really did hope he’d see you tomorrow.
And yet, he should’ve known it was too good to be true.
“Maybe she got caught up at work or something,” Jen tried to console him the next day at closing, after you didn’t show up.
“It’s Sunday,” he pointed out grumpily. He continued to wipe down Table 4 of some nasty residue of mayo and pickled radish.
“You don’t know what kind of job she has,” Piper interjected. She was making a tuna salad sub on wheat for the last customer, which she then passed on to Tish at the register. “Maybe she’s in retail, or she’s in the restaurant business too—or hey, a lifeguard! This is a beach town after all.”
“Or maybe, she just played you into getting free food and a ride home,” Tish suggested, with her usual brand of cutting sarcasm. It just tended to cut a bit deeper these days, whenever it was leveled at Priestly.
The post-breakup thing had been tense and awkward for everyone, and it still hadn’t normalized just yet in their little sandwich-making ecosystem. Jen shot her friend a look though, one that told her she was being bitchy.
The problem was, she’d only voiced what Priestly was thinking anyway, deep down.
“Amazing, serendipitous things don’t happen to me, Piper,” he said. “Not anymore.”
He continued cleaning.
Three weeks later, it happened on a Friday afternoon.
It was one of their busiest times of the week. Tish was at the register as usual, Jen was sorting through the inventory and bussing tables, and Priestly was making hero after hero like a fiend, alongside Piper. He was definitely living up to his name of Sandwich Man.
He was still able to recognize your voice near the register.
“One 12” Miracle, please,” you requested.
“Um…we don’t have that on the menu,” Tish replied. But Priestly looked over with a grin. He met your gaze, and found you smiling back at him.
Tish followed the exchange with suspicion.
“One Miracle, coming up!” Priestly called out.
He had the order ready within minutes, but he was painstaking about it, not an olive out of place. He wrapped it up nicely and walked it over to the register himself, placing it in front of you on the counter.
“Well, hi there,” he greeted.
A familiar blush spread across your face, just as endearing as he remembered. The only thing different about you so far was your clothes. No longer dressed to the nines, you were more casual in your jeans, ankle boots, and V-necked top.
In every other way, you were the same. It might’ve been making his heart trip up.
“Hi,” you said. “Got a minute, Miracle Man?”
Priestly ducked his head, hiding a more bashful smile. Before he could respond, Tish interrupted, “That’ll be $10.”
You nodded and handed her a $50 bill. She looked at you in confusion.
“The rest is a tip, for the hero makers,” you explained, glancing at both Priestly and Piper. He gave you an incredulous smile.
You little minx, he thought. He couldn’t say no if you were tipping Piper too.
But he did ask Jen to help fill in for him while he made his way around the counter to go to you. Tish just watched the scene unfold with a silent frown, like she was trying to make sense of what was happening. She always thought she’d be the first one to move on.
You slipped your sandwich into a larger purse than last time. Then you looked up at him with apologetic eyes.
“I’m sorry it took me so long to come back here,” you said. “It got a bit…ugly, after that night.”
Priestly’s brows furrowed in concern. “Ugly?”
“Nothing I couldn’t handle,” you assured him. “Lots of shouting and empty threats, then half-assed apologies. But I’m done with all that.”
Priestly considered that with a nod. “Well, good. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better.”
You stared up at his face, and you thought he really seemed to mean that. You knew you shouldn’t be feeling that familiar flutter in your stomach, not three weeks after breaking up from a year-long relationship. Even so, the night you walked out of this shop, you felt free. Like you could breathe again.
You felt like you.
So now, you leaned up and kissed Priestly on the cheek.
His eyes widened a fraction as he stared down at you. You smiled and grasped his hand.
“Would you maybe want to…ask me out sometime?” you asked. A nervous giggle escaped you, making him smile.
“Y-Yeah, I would. If you’re sure you want me to,” he replied. In the past, maybe he would’ve let his excitement get the best of him. He’d be trying to jump at this chance. Experience had taught him not to hope too hard though. Sometimes, getting what you wished for backfired in your face.
You squeezed his hand, earning his attention.
“Why wouldn’t I?” you asked. Your smile became teasing before you used his words against him. “From what I’ve seen so far, you’re pretty awesome. But mostly pretty.”
He had to laugh at that. Pretty was not something he’d ever been called in life. Weird, freak, try-hard goth—that was all familiar territory. His tattoos and piercings tended to bring that out in people.
But he gathered some courage and squeezed your hand back.
“Well, you’re beautiful,” he said, thumbing at your chin. His eyes met yours and got lost there for a moment. “Uh, really beautiful.”
You blushed further and bit your lower lip out of habit. It drew his gaze, and he gained a little more courage. He tilted your chin upwards, so he could find those lips easier in a kiss. Your fingers curled in the front of his shirt and brought him closer. His hand found your cheek as he angled deeper into the kiss.
Despite the chill on the air, the California sun was warm and beating down on you both.
It was the perfect day for a Miracle.

🐏 alright, sure, I'll answer assuming this is in good faith and you're not just going to shut me down, but. First off, at a glance, a big part is the colors. Using blue and yellow (and not like, off purple or off white, or black and white as other designs sharing the motif sometimes do) is going to associate the two designs for many people until double checking The Collector's design to see the saturation difference.
2. What really made me, personally, do a double take and wonder about the character (briefly!!) was the hair. Both have fluffy silvery white hair. The goat design certainly hardly needed hair at all, and of all possible choices they could have made for the hairstyle and color? It's hard to reasonably believe that most people will accept that Snow just so happened to choose the very same hair that another well known Sun and Moon themed design has.
3. A bit weaker, but the clothes. To me, while the clothes aren't exact, of course, it reads to me a lot like "you can copy my homework, but make sure you change it a little so they don't know". And should this design be genuinely inspired by The Collector, Snow did an excellent job of making the clothes distinct while still evoking the same sort of vibe.
To elaborate further on this - again, admittedly weak point - the similarities: the style of clothes (clown-ish flowing pants and shirt), a scarf-like bit of cloth that resembles the high neck of the Collector's later form outfit design (complete with a distinct line that leads down to a trinket on the chest - a zipper for Lullaby, and a stone of some sort for the Collector), a pair of stars that hang below the jaw line (in the Collector design with the hat with star danglies, and Lullaby's stars on the collar), and yes, to an extent, the hood (again, more especially so with what I believe to be the Collector's later season outfit). It's an interesting choice that can't help but bring up comparisons, when Snow could have just as easily made the headgear a night cap, instead of a hood. Something that the Collector wears.
3.5 Soft Lullaby interestingly uses a rainy day motif instead of a star motif. This is a bit odd, as rain (especially the type that would have one equipped with an umbrella and puddles, as opposed to something that would evoke sleeping indoors while it's raining, something that I'd reckon would have more gray and muted colors as well), isn't something associated with sleeping. So, this is conjecture, but it almost feels like an Intentional deviation from one's inspiration. Like, when you're heavily referencing a design, but you don't want it to look TOO similar, so you change some major point intentionally, instead of, say, removing it or interpreting the idea differently.
You can call most of this point a reach or conjecture, and I'd agree. But I do think it makes Soft Lullaby a very well done inspired design as opposed to a truly original one that just so happened to have a few similarities.
4. Google 'sun and moon themed characters'. You'll see quite an array of characters that do not look so similar to the Collector as Lullaby does to it. So, I do have a bit of a hard time buying the "it's just a sun and moon motif that makes them look similar and soooo many other characters share them" excuse.
Conclusion: in my opinion, I'm not trying to make a call out, nor do I care that much. I don't think it's literally the Collector and if that's what gave the design the "OK" then fair enough! But I think it's disingenuous to say they look nothing alike or that there was absolutely no inspiration.
And before anyone says 'ermmmm get a life lol why'd you do all this lolol anon let's Snow live rent free in their head': I saw a question, and I answered it, hopefully thoroughly, from the perspective of someone who also thought there was at least some inspiration taken for Soft Lullaby. Also, it's 5 am for me as I type this. No where else to be right now for this insomniac haha maybe Soft Lullaby would help me? Or not.... Lol

"i’m watching you date all these other people and i don't know what it is i'm feeling but it's definitely not jealousy" for steddie please 🙏 your writing is so good, i'd love to read your take!
Oh, oh - I love the heck out of this one. I'm going to be cliche, but try & not be all at the same time. Fingers crossed it works! Here we go -
Standing against the counter waiting for his food, Eddie tried not to watch Steve and his latest flavor of the week. It was his own fault, even agreeing to head to the bowling alley with them in the first place, but Robin's pleading eyes were too hard to deny. Steve was weird like that, inviting his two best friends on dates with him. Sometimes, when Eddie couldn't handle the sight of brunette girls fawning over Steve and bowed out, Robin reported being the awkward third wheel all night. They were good friends and Steve was hard to say no to, but where did the boundary lie?
And that was the thing, Eddie had the worst time not leaning into Steve completely. Doing exactly that was what got him into the mess he was currently trying to deal with in the first place. He made a mistake in thinking that Steve wanted to lean into Eddie, too.
The memory of that night was still so vivid. They'd been sitting in Steve's living room, melting together on the couch smoking a joint. Robin and Nancy had already gone home, leaving Eddie alone with Steve. It'd been happening a lot, the girls getting out of dodge long before Eddie was ready to follow. Things were easy and that's where it all went wrong. Steve pressed in close against him as they passed the doobie back and forth, invading Eddie's space each time. He was just high enough to press in, too. When their lips met, it felt right, like Eddie was reading all of the vibes between them correctly. It stayed feeling that way as Steve kissed back for a moment - his lips were perfect against Eddie's in the even and mutual push and pull of good kisses shared.
Too perfect, because reality came crashing back into the room with a loud and unreadable boom. Steve gasped against Eddie's lips and pulled away, a look of panic in his eyes. He got up from the couch so fast that Eddie had no idea what had really happened. The tingle of his lips, though, that reminded him. There was a second where Steve looked at him searchingly, as if Eddie had the answers to his unasked questions. His eyes hardened, however, Steve's gaze shifting away to look past Eddie, anywhere but at him. "I'm - going to go grab another beer," Steve said, practically running for the door.
Eddie hadn't stuck around to find out how Steve really felt about the situation, his reaction seemed telling enough. He quickly got up from the couch and left quietly. The rest of the night was spent in his van, wallowing in self-pity and avoiding the relief that sleep would bring. There was a thought in his brain he wanted to cling to that just wouldn't serve him well. If he closed his eyes, he'd live that kiss over and over again, and that just wouldn't do. Not when the distaste in Steve's eyes was still fresh, too.
For a couple of days following that incident, Eddie made himself scarce. It was harder to do than he thought, because Robin called within the first twelve hours of his purposeful isolation. Not spending his free time lurking in the Family Video was odd, of course she would notice Eddie's pointed absence. Eddie made up a workable excuse but knew it'd only buy him a little while. By the time his first shift of the week came around, Eddie thankfully had a tight enough grip on his emotions that Robin wouldn't be able to crack him. It didn't take a genius to know that Steve wanted what happened to be like it never did.
So, that's how they played it. Steve acted like Eddie never gave into his weakness and ruined the closeness between them - and Eddie followed his lead. It almost seemed like nothing had changed except Steve never allowed himself to be alone with Eddie, again. All of their hangouts were always with the girls or the kids. Then, the plethora of dates started to come around. And it was odd, because Steve didn't take them out alone - instead, he invited the whole group out on his awkward mating attempts. For a while, Eddie could've sworn he was being punished, like Steve was enjoying how on edge Eddie always was throughout those evenings. It took a fourth new girl for Eddie to realize that Steve was going through something, so he tried to put on a brave smile and not hate every second.
The sound of his name being called brought him out of that terrible spiral of thoughts. He nodded in thanks as he grabbed the chicken tenders and fries he'd been waiting for. Now that he had his food in hand, Eddie almost wished for a longer wait. If he didn't like his food hot, he would've gotten back in line to buy something else - anything to prolong the odd moments that always came next.
Luckily, Robin was walking back from the soda fountain, so Eddie followed her back to her seat, snagging the one next to her. He spread out his haul before grabbing the ketchup off the table to drizzle his fries with. Stuffing a couple in his mouth, Eddie turned his attention to Robin. "They keep getting more dense," Eddie said, nodding towards the table Steve and Lea or maybe Mia were sitting. She was talking without noticing that Steve wasn't paying attention, or even looking at her. In fact -
"I'm not sure Steve can tell, he's been staring at you most of the night. Why do you think that is?" Robin asked, taking a slurping sip of her soda. Her eyes shone like she knew the secret Eddie was keeping - if she did, it had to be a lucky guess. Eddie hadn't said a word to her about his kiss with Steve, no matter how badly he wanted to.
"Who knows. I'm still trying to figure out why he keeps inviting us on his dates." Eddie tried to keep his tone light and joking, but knew almost immediately that he didn't succeed. Robin turned more fully toward him, her attention completely zoned in.
"I think you know exactly why. I think something happened between you two. Did something happen, Eddie? Please - I can't stand this for much longer." Her voice was earnest, high and sure like all the other times Robin let her emotions seep into her words. It was hard not to react to it, to give in.
Eddie dropped the chicken he'd been picking apart from his hands, taking a deep breath. "I fucked up, Robin. Is that what you want to hear me say?" Eddie asked. Though she rolled her eyes, Robin stayed silent, prompting him to continue. "We - might have kissed. Or, I kissed him, it's hard to remember the specifics." He rolled his eyes at himself. "We kissed and it was the greatest moment of my life. But Steve sort of freaked out and I left before we could talk about it. This - serial dating started right after."
His chest was heaving by the time the whole truth was out of his mouth - Eddie felt lightheaded, like he'd just ran for his life again. It was anxiety and the sudden rush of freedom pressing down on his sternum, making the already tough situation even harder to deal with. "Like I said, I fucked up."
Shockingly, Robin had nothing to say or clap back with. Her head tilted and her gazed softened as she took him in. They shared a heavy look before her arms were around Eddie, pulling him tightly in for a long hug. It was odd to find comfort in the trailing of her fingertips against his back, yet so soothing all the same. He'd been spun up and tense since Steve pulled back from him so brashly - being in Robin's arms, Eddie was able to unpack and relax the tension, even if just for a moment.
"It's going to work itself out," Robin whispered against his ear before pulling away, a soft smile on her lips. "Now that I know, this bull shit all makes a lot more sense. Try talking to him, Eddie - I think it might help."
Eddie slammed his eyes shut against the tears that suddenly welled up in the corner of his eyes. He'd been so on edge, worried and on guard, that Robin's easy way of reassurance almost took him to pieces. While he was uncertain of the accuracy of her statement, Eddie at least knew he had someone else on his side. That, in a friendship where bonds ran really tightly and tangled so intensely, there wouldn't have to be compromise. "Yeah, maybe I will."
And while he already felt a little better, Eddie knew sticking around any longer wasn't an option. He packed up all his garbage and uneaten food before getting up and dumping everything into the trash. He nodded at Robin, then took the handful of steps back to Steve's table. It was odd, to meet his eye on the journey over. Maybe Robin had been right - Steve was staring at him. Eddie tried to smile, to not make it weird - "I think I'm going to head out. Thanks for the game."
Steve's eyebrows quirked in confusion, "we still have one more to play, Eds."
Biting down into his bottom lip, Eddie thought quickly about an excuse. Usually, Eddie would be all over every game of bowling possible. It was a well kept secret, his talent for knocking over pins in one go round. Bailing out early was a bit off the wall. "I'm just not feeling it tonight. The trailers calling my name." Eddie didn't let Steve try to argue with him, either. "I'll see you guys later." His tone was final and so was the abrupt way he turned towards the door and purposefully strode away.
Eddie made it out to the van before he realized Steve was following him. He put the key into the driver's side door, intent on ignoring the younger boy when a hand on his shoulder stopped him. "What's going on, Munson? You've been weird all night." Steve looked genuinely confused, like the whole group out on a date thing wasn't ridiculous in its own right.
"I'm tired of being out on your dates with you, Steve. I can't sit here and watch you date person after person. It's - it's eating me alive." Eddie snapped his mouth shut, a rush of embarrassment washing over him. He didn't mean to admit that, to give Steve that part of himself so easily. Though, Steve's next words made him seethe, his vulnerability forgotten.
"You left that night, Eddie. It doesn't seem all that fair for you to be upset about some attempts to - move on." Steve's cheeks were red, too, like admitting that cost him something he wasn't used to giving up.
Losing himself for a second, Eddie turned to Steve angrily. "You pulled away from me like I'd punched you in the gut, Steve. I couldn't stay. It was - " Eddie stopped, slumping his shoulders in defeat, his upset deflating with the rest of him. Then, Steve's words registered, their meaning finally sinking in - "wait, move on? What the fuck does that mean, Harrington?"
Steve looked at Eddie searchingly, his brown eyes flitting back and forth nervously. In the next moment, Steve stepped forward and wrapped his arms around Eddie's shoulders. It was stiff for a second where Eddie struggled not to give in. The unmoving way Steve kept ahold of him finally broke him down, though - he was only so strong.
Eddie melted into Steve's embrace, returning the gesture with his own arms around Steve's hips. "I wasn't ready for the realization our kiss forced onto me. I'd been staring at your lips for days but had no idea I actually wanted to kiss them. Then you left and that felt like rejection - like you were rejecting me."
Eddie moved back enough to shift the grip of his hands from Steve's hips to his neck, where his fingers dug into the back of Steve's hair. He played with a couple of strands for a moment, attempting to soothe them both. "We're idiots, you and I," Eddie said after a while, his voice soft. "I'm sorry for making you feel that way. I'd never - I mean, rejecting you would be pretty fucking stupid of me. Wanting you the way I do and all."
There was a second of consideration for their location, but only a second, before Steve leaned forward and kissed Eddie. His lips were spread in a smile, making the press of them awkward for a second, but Eddie didn't care. He tightened his grip on Steve's neck to pull him closer, fully leaning into the kiss.
It was better than the first go round, the press of lip against lip. Eddie didn't have to hold back or worry about Steve not responding. They gave and took in equal measure until the need to breath was too much. Eddie broke the kiss softly, pecking Steve's lips to soothe the need for distance.
"No more running, okay?" Steve whispered. He nosed against Eddie's cheek, prompting him to reply.
"No more running," Eddie agreed, stealing another kiss from Steve's lips. "Not when there's so much to stay for."

It was almost cause for offense the way she asked. "Not at all. I like spending time with you. More so when we're not knee deep in cases. You're fun." Maybe, fun wasn't the right word but he was always intellectually stimulated around her. They never ran out of things to talk about and the fact that she gave it back just as good as he did her, that made time spent with her worthwhile. "Do you really think I'm tired of you?"
Quickly shaking his head trying to let her know she had nothing to apologize for. "Don't be sorry. Please don't take this as me telling you what to do or who to do," that made him cringe the way that was phrased, how do you even say please don't have sex with anyone cause I'm fucking in love with you. Without crossing a line there. When that answer came to him he'd be sure to use it. "I really just," still no words so he opted for a head shake instead. A man with so little words who knew an entire encyopledia and yet came up empty.
"A likely excuse," he stated with a smile, reverting back to himself. He was proud of his home state he grinned and nodded. "This may be my complete bias but I sure think it is. It's really beautiful at night. If you're not too tired tonight I'll take you to see it from the bottom level. If not then I'll take you another day so you can get the full view from up top. Oh, you should also see the lighthouse. Nothing quite like it on the island."
"According to this article," he showed her the phone and reached out his arm for her to take. "It says when this one hatched at the zoo that their handler was the first they saw and imprinted on them. Now the flamingo is two and runs toward the handler. There's a video too." He pressed play and smiled as the animal flocked right into the person and then did a little dance. The laugh from him was genuine as he thought that was cute. "Not gonna lie. I want one now. Maybe I should go ahead and buy that land." She knew his dream, one of, of owning a farm.
The waiter greeted them with a gleeful aloha as he walked them to the table. Wally liked this restaurant, aside from the chill vibe, the staff were kind and he got leftover breadsticks to take home afterwards. Before the waiter could leave Wally asked for the special and the drinks could be added after. He took the corner seat in the booth near the giant tank they used for decoration and tapped it gently before grabbing the drink menus. Putting it up to read he hummed. "They have really good drinks," bringing the menu down to look at her, "the non alcoholic kind. The wonderland punch is pretty good. I, myself prefer the vanilla shake." A nod to when they went to that diner in New York. "You can order whatever you want. Anything jump out?" The waitress came out with freshly baked fries and smiled at the two. Aloha Wally. Out so late so very unlike you. Then looked at his companion. "Welcome. Is this your first time here? I'd recognize an angelic face as yours if you were a regular. Wally, you've been hiding this gem." The older woman patted him and grabbed her notepad. "Would you like something to drink?"
Stifling a laugh at his reply, she nodded her head. "Mission accomplished." She didn't know why but she was being honest in a way she hadn't been honest with anyone. When talking with Charlie, it was mostly because he had been there. When answering Anna it was because she didn't have the heart to lie to her. When playing with Orion, it was because he deserved better than the adults in his life lying to him. With Wally, she felt like it was okay to say small bits of truth, so she did. "Not sailing, and not a yacht. I spent about a year on a boat once." It was some of the best memories of her life but that was neither here nor there, when there was only one other person on board and nothing but the sea and work to do, the monotony became a happy thing. A routine she had been lacking her entire life. "I know there are different types of partners," she chuckled.
" Trivia night? Aren't you tired of being around me all the time?" It was more of a surprised comment. They had spent so much time together that she had started becoming suspicious about exactly what it was he wanted.
When he said how he really felt about her sleeping with someone she might have met at the gala, she felt like a child reprimanded. Made him want to throw up? She didn't know what to make of it at all, even less so, slightly impaired. All she had known was that she had pissed her friend off, because as suspicious as she could be of him, he was a friend. That's when it hit her, of course, she had just listened to what assholes they all were to his family, of course. That's why it upset him that she was thinking of any of them in that way when they were so horrible to his family, that had to be it. How stupid could she had been? " Sorry. I promise, I won't." It was soft and sincere as she turned away from him and stared out her passenger door instead.
"Well, I've been working a lot and when I'm not working, I'm usually helping someone else with their work. So I haven't really had time to do much exploring. This beach sounds a million times better than Brighton." As he turned into the parking lot, her stomach began to make it known that she was hungry again. "Thanks." Taking the sweater gratefully knowing she would be cold in a bit. Once he got out, she again reprimanded herself for being so stupid earlier. This is why you need to stop drinking! Carefully she pulled the sweater over her head and down over her dress. Something about it felt like a warm hug but she chalked it over to it just turning into an awkward night and being in a hoodie felt nice after spending all night in the dress. "Yup." She answered when he knocked, and exited the car. Smile gracing her features seeing him in his usual get up. Small tilt of her head as she watched him curiously tussling his own hair as he spoke. "Flamingos? Does that mean one would be able to keep them as a pet? Or do they just randomly come around the person from time to time?"
As weird as the new topic was, it felt nice to have something else to talk about now.

Lost in Translation (Zhongli)
In which a certain archon scrambles about his feelings and forgets the most important thing--his beloved traveller is an outlander, unfamiliar with the ways of Liyue (aka idiots in love: the fanfic). AO3 vers
A lazy day for him, a busy day for you--no matter the contrast of your agenda, you and Zhongli made it a habit to meet in the food stalls by Liyue Harbour. His presence and calm extinguished the fatigue from the many commissions and personal commitments you promised others of doing. You haven't really questioned what kind of impact you had on him, or why he seemed so dedicated on meeting with you despite your conflicting schedules.
Was it the free meals?
That was what you thought--yet he only ever orders the same kind of tea or a slight variation of it every evening.
"That will be 5201 Mora." The waitress would say on typical days. You share idle conversation together and muse about plans for the distant future.
"I'm feeling extravagant tonight." He would sometimes joke (who knew he was capable of that?) when you had missed several dinners with him. Ten Mora added to his usual set for an extra spot of tea2. You would always point out that he didn't have the right to brag about spending “extravagantly” over a paltry sum which he didn't pay for anyway, but he would only smile at you and look contemplative.
"What's wrong?"
Zhongli would sigh in response, choosing not to answer you. He would instead marvel about the beauty of the moon3 in the dark, night sky.
Was it the view?
He always found something beautiful about the weather---waxing poetry even in unpleasant storms.
"Radishes? Why would I love radishes?4 I don't get it," you would answer honestly, and he would place his hand atop your head and let it rest there.
"Everything is beautiful if you choose to believe it is."
Huh. You never thought of that.
"Well, I suppose radishes are rather filling."
You liked the sound of his laughter---perhaps it was even the reason why you looked forward to thunderstorms.
Was it the (occasional )unexpected dinner guests?
"Comrade, you're here!♡"
"Childe! I can't breathe!"
Childe didn't make it a secret that he's interested in you. In fact, he was rather vocal with his affections.
Sickeningly sweet nicknames, embarrassing confessions after sparring matches, bouquets of flowers at every opportunity--he was your most relentless suitor. You voiced out your discomforts with his overzealous..."methods" but it all falls on deaf ears. You voiced out such discomforts to the attentive Zhongli on your shared dinners.
To show his support, the Geo Archon had a habit of spending more when the Snezhnayan were around. He would order the most expensive tea set, and would make it a point to sit on the other seat beside you, whispering,
"Won't you order more, Traveller?"
...as if asking you to conspire against the Fatui with him.
"What? This tiny portion for 52013145 Mora? I'd rather buy something else!"
Zhongli would shake his head and lean closer--almost a breath away with you.
"But you aren't the one paying tonight."
For a god who was thousands of years old, it was refreshing to see he still had a mischievous side to him.
Was he even enjoying your time together at all?
Something felt off today. He was a solemn man, but he felt more...serious right now. Childe wasn't around your usual spot yet he still ordered the shop's most expensive tea set.
"Good evening, Traveller."
You could feel tension in the way he brought the cup to his lips.
"What are you drinking tonight?" You tried to bring light conversation to the awkward vibe you both had, but as he brought his cup down and looked at you, you suddenly felt embarrassed. His amber eyes seemed...penetrating. Even the honeyed tone of his voice sounded dry.
"Vinegar6."
"Did something happen, Zhongli?" You cried. "Wai-- Vinegar?! Why are you drinking that?"
It worried you to see that he frowned even further at your inquiry.
"...this is unbecoming of me. I apologise. Shall we take a stroll outside?"
He didn't answer your questions again, but you relented. He wasn't the most direct person you knew. Unlike Childe who does not shy in voicing out his thoughts and his feelings, Zhongli was a lot more subdued. Sometimes, you wished he would speak out more. But given his disposition, you knew it would be impossible to ask of him.
"The moon is beautiful tonight as well, isn't it?3"
His remark made you look up at the dark, starless sky. Any indication of the glowing moon was absent. You squinted your eyes to look closer but never sighted the moon he sung praises to.
"It's an expression."
"Expression?" You turned to him with a frown on your face. You were speaking the same language, but you didn't understand him at all. "Zhongli--"
However his words confused you, the warmth of his lips on yours gave it clarity.
As he pulled away and held you close, the absence of his answer lingered--however, your pounding heart that grew bashful with his stares pestered you, as if saying that you would get your answer if you kissed him again.
"I'm not as honest as that person. I'm afraid I shy away from such bold declarations. Even now, I cannot seem to say it out loud."
"But you're talking to me just fine?"
You were relieved to hear him laugh again. The warmth of his embrace betrayed his beating heart that matched with the pace of your own.
"I wish I talked...more. I'm sorry for worrying you.
.
.
.
.
...envy brings the worst in me, I'm afraid."
"Envy?"
He sounded bashful. "Of...the Fatui Harbinger taking your attention."
...Realising its implications made you bury your head on his chest.
"Would it be presumptuous of me to assume that the feeling is mutual?"
"You're unfair, you know that?"
The answer you were seeking for had finally been found as you exchanged another kiss under the moonless night.
"Hey, Zhongli?"
"Yes, traveller?"
You responded to the silent words he couldn't seem to say...
"I can die happily7."
...but you could hear clearly in your heart.
Footnotes:
1 ) 520 in Chinese is (wǔ èr líng) = 我爱你 (wǒ ài nǐ) “I love you.”
2) 530 in Chinese is (wǔ sān líng) = 我想你 (wǒ xiǎng nǐ) “I miss you.”
3) The moon is beautiful tonight is an indirect way of saying "I love you" in olden Japan--the expression being credited to Natsume Soseki, a famous Japanese novelist
4) 萝卜青菜,各有所爱。 (Luóbo qīngcài, gè yǒu suǒ ài. 'radishes greens, each have that-which loves') — Radishes and greens, each have those who love them. I.e. "one man's meat is another man's poison" or "each to his own". Tweet
5) 1314 (yī sān yī sì) = 一生一世 (yī shēng yī shì) “Always / forever.” Often combined with 520 so that it becomes 5201314, or “I’ll love you forever.”

it'll help just that once even though you know it's bollocks Janis: and what do you have to lose Jimmy: exactly nowt Jimmy: like I'm gonna call Ian's bird mum all night, don't have to remember her name & get to make it weird Janis: oh God Janis: that is funny, even though I should feel sympathy 'cos you did that to me Jimmy: if you wanna sit next to her & commiserate about the Taylor's, go on Jimmy: not stopping you Janis: gonna find out how well suited she is to Ian first Janis: but tah Janis: love some #sisterhoodsolidarity me Jimmy: as long as you still sit next to me Jimmy: do what you her in his lap like always so a make out can ensue] Janis: [telling him how much she's missed him in between breaths 'cos always true and saying how bad she wants him 'cos true now] Jimmy: [he can't look at her because he's been crying on & off throughout this day & convo cos he's soft & it's been a one but hiding that as best he can with extra kisses & touches & words spoken into her neck or shoulder or wherever] Janis: [all the comforting touches and holding him so tight with all the ilys ever] Jimmy: [saying it back & trying to pull her closer to him than he's probably ever, soz about 'it's alright here'] Janis: ['It's more than alright' the but don't need to be said 'cos duh 'when do we have to go?'] Jimmy: [keeps being very distracting but gives her a vague answer like 'we're got ages'] Janis: [is dubious but ain't that bothered obvs 'fashionably late is fine but can see your house from here so'] Jimmy: [carries on because trying to make a round 2 happen here as if they don't have somewhere to be. 'All I'm bothered about is if they can hear us from here.'] Janis: [has to kiss him 'cos the noise is too real] Jimmy: [so many kisses because he's such a clingy bitch we know & it's only slightly less needy than before obvs] Janis: ['I love you'] Jimmy: [says it back of course & how much he does] Janis: ['why the fuck do I wanna cry though?' is loling but hiding too] Jimmy: 'Baby'[makes her look at him because hands in her hair but gently though. The naked deal (part 1)
Junhoe x reader
Genre: smut, casual sex, Junhoe being hot AF
Notes: this is the first fanfic/smut I've ever written. It's a long ass read but I hope you enjoy!
__________________________________
Your brother opened the door and looked at the big bag you were carrying in shock.
"What's this???"
"Snacks for movie night!" You exclaimed handing him the bag.
"I thought we were ordering food!"
"I thought you said Junhoe eats like a pig."
He chuckled loudly "well....."
"Hey, I really need to use the toilet."
"Mh.....- he nodded while walking towards the kitchen then turned swiftly towards you - oh! Junhoe was taking a show..." But you had already disappeared in the corridor.
"Ah, I hope he puts on clothes..."
You could hear Junhoe singing in the bathroom and you giggled at his rendition of "Living on a prayer". He was so different from your brother's previous flatmate: he was so messy and loud and couldn't even make toast without burning it. At first you just couldn't understand why Jay would accept to live with someone like that. But he turned out to be a really caring person and he was super funny... And freaking hot...
"Aw fuck, I really need to pee!"
Junhoe had stopped singing and you were about to knock on the door when it flung open...nothing could've prepared you for that.
He was drying his jet black hair with a towel, his biceps in full view, droplets of water still trickling down his toned chest and perfect abs. You couldn't help yourself and let your gaze drop lower...
You bit your lip and quickly looked up into Junhoe's shocked eyes. You had both frozen, he hadn't lowered his arms to cover himself and you stood there with your right fist mid-air ready to knock on a now open door.
"I...I need to..." You pointed to the toilet with your finger.
He finally covered his genitals with the towel, his ears turning red as he tried to step out without touching you.
"Aaah...yeah...sorry..."
You jumped in the room and stole a long glance at his perfect back and round ass while closing the door.
"Nice buns" you murmored and Junhoe turned around to look at you with a bewildered look.
You slammed the door and collapsed on the floor, your face burning red.
WTF did I do???
Holy shit. You'd always imagined he had a good body hidden under those shabby t-shirts but you were not ready for that.
You got up and finally sat on the toilet.
How the fuck were you going to interact with him for the rest of the night?
"Nice buns!"
Why in the world did you say that??? It wasn't out of character for you but Junhoe didn't know you that well yet. Now he probably thought his flatmate's sister was a pervert.
Oh God, Jay is never going to let me in the house ever again.
...............
Junhoe watched the door slam and just stood there.
Did Y/N just see him naked? Did she stare at him? Did she compliment his ass? What the... A voice interrupted his thoughts.
"Junhoe!!!!"
He turned around to look at Jay.
"Dude!!! My sister's here!!! Put some clothes on!!!"
"I...she..."
"Listen the shop just called, my sneakers have finally arrived. I have to run there before someone else buys them." He put on his jacket as he talked.
"The shop...wait! How long will you be gone???"
"I'll be quick... 20...- he checked his phone before putting it in his pocket - eh... 40 mins max. Tell Y/N she can chill in my room or you could actually talk to each other."
"But..."
"I'll get fried chicken!" He shouted as he closed the door.
"Fuck" Junhoe thought.
..................
"Fuck" you thought.
You sat on the toilet listening to the conversation behind the door.
Great. Now you were alone with Junhoe. 40 minutes? There was no way he would be back before an hour, probably more if he went to your favorite chicken spot. Ok, no panic. You just had to get to Jay's room, there was no need to interact with Junhoe. Sure, his room was the closest to the bathroom so he would definitely see you come out but he probably didn't want to talk to you either. Yes, you were just gonna ignore each other and pretend nothing happened. It wasn't that big of a deal. You just saw him naked for like...5 seconds. Man, his abs are unbelievable. And those arms. His thighs were thicker than what you had expected and his ass was so perky. How had your bisexual brother survived living with a hunk like that for the past 2 months? Maybe there was something really disgusting about him that was an instant turn off? Or maybe they were in some kind of relationship? No way. Your brother was your best friend, he would've never hidden something like that from you and he always said Junhoe was straight. But there was no way he hadn't seen him naked and hadn't thought about sucking that dick. Mmmmh.
No. No. No. Don't get lost here. Stick to the plan. Get out of the bathroom and into Jay's room.
......................
You opened the door as quietly as possible but heard his voice as soon as you took a step out.
"Y/N?"
You didn't answer.
You heard his chair move as he stretched his head to look outside his bedroom door.
"Y/N!!!!"
"Yeah..." You shily looked his way.
"Are you ok???"
His voice sounded concerned.
You moved closer to his room, placing a hand on the door frame and peeking in. Thankfully he was fully dressed now.
"Yeah, yeah I'm ok."
"You were in there for the longest time!!! I was afraid you had fainted!"
You took a step closer, now standing in the door frame.
"I...no... I'm good. You thought I'd fainted?!?"
"There was complete silence until you flushed the toilet a minute ago."
You straightened up and crossed your arms trying to hide your embarrassment.
"Were you listening to me pee??? Is that your kink???" Oh my God what are you saying.
He widened his eyes and cracked half a smile.
"Y/N...are you drunk? You're acting super weird today."
"You're acting super weird!" Why were you so flustered. Your eyes kept wandering from his plump lips to his wide shoulders...
"You're the one who keeps staring at my body."
You could feel your face turning red but you were not gonna back down.
"I'm not the one who was walking around naked knowing fully well he was gonna have guests! - you leaned against the door frame trying to look cool - Besides your body ain't THAT great." Oh yes! Perfect punchline. Now he's just gonna think you're a bitch. Turn around and...
"Let's see yours then."
"....what?"
He leaned back on his chair, crossing his hands behind his head, his eyes looking straight into yours.
"You saw me naked without my consent and now you're spewing judgement. Shouldn't I be allowed to do it too?"
Your arms fell to your sides. Oh boy. Did you push the bitch move too far? Ok. Just say sorry and leave the room.
You opened your mouth to speak but no sound came out. Instead you pulled your shirt over your head and took it off. You stood there holding your shirt, in your tight jeans and a bright pink bralette that made your tits look amazing, smiling at him with a defiant look.
He slowly placed his hands on his knees and looked at you for a few seconds. Then he stood up and walked towards you.
"What...what are you doing?" You said clutching your shirt to your chest.
He stopped a few feet away from you.
"You were closer than this... shouldn't I be closer too? - He took a couple more steps and stopped. You could've touched him without even stretching your arm - This seems like the right distance."
"Ok..." Now that he was so close you couldn't even lift your head to look him in the eyes.
"Well....what about the rest?"
You quickly glanced at him.
"The rest? You want me to take everything off??"
He smirked a little and crossed his arms.
"Well...you got the full uncensored picture...I barely got a preview..."
You tilted your head a little and looked at him. His voice sounded so smooth and seductive right now, you couldn't help but feel a little tingle in your panties. He gave off this cocky yet charming vibe and God, he was so handsome. Had you ever been this close before? You could almost feel the heat coming from his body. Well...if he wanted to play, why not play...
You let the shirt fall to the ground.
"Ok...but maybe you could refresh my memory?" You said looking at him while pushing your chest out just a bit.
He looked down from your eyes to your lips to your tits, his fingers moving slightly towards you, stopping just an inch from your skin. He pulled back, grabbing his shirt instead and taking it off in a swift move.
You stared at his chest and shoulders slowly moving up and down. Oh my God you wanted to bite them so bad.
You took off your bra, pulled it up to his face for a moment before dropping it on the ground.
He looked at you and swallowed, then took a step closer.
Oh, now you could feel it. The heat and electricity between your bodies. You breathed a little deeper unsure of what to do, savouring the excited tension between you two.
He stretched out his fingers again, touching your skin ever so lightly. You immediately felt chills down your spine and looked up at him.
He read your look and cupped your left breast, caressing your nipple with his thumb.
You let out a louder moan than intended.
He smiled, a bright, satisfied smile before pressing his lips against yours, grabbing your waist and pulling you against him. You ran your nails down his back, pushing your tongue inside his mouth, kissing him till you were out of breath.
He cupped your face and let out a little laugh.
"So, you are not drunk?"
You smiled back "Definitely not drunk."
"Are we taking the rest off?"
"Oh yeah!" You said while unbuttoning your jeans.
"Your brother will be home soon" he said while taking off his black pants. He wasn't wearing any underwear and his hard dick was pointing right at you.
"Let's be quick then!" You said as you pushed him on the bed.
You slid out of your panties and slowly crawled on top of him. His dick was twitching, desperate to be touched. It curved slightly to the left and was darker than his body and created a definite contrast against his pale skin.
So fucking inviting...
You could smell the desire emanating from his body and finally stuck your tongue out tracing his abs one by one, your right nipple brushing against his hard cock. He moaned as you reached his chest and bit him. You licked him again, all along his collarbone and bit him again on his right shoulder, making sure to leave a mark. He grabbed you by the back of the head and made you look at him.
"I thought you wanted to be quick".
"Not that quick."
He kissed you hard, his left hand grabbing your ass and pushing you down. Your pussy finally touched his cock and you started moving along his length. He tilted his head back, a deep moan leaving his lips. You freed yourself from his grasp and started kissing his chest, then his abs until you reached his cock. You put your knees on the ground, head between his legs, you lifted his cock with your right hand, leaving drops of precum on his lower abdomen. You smiled and looked up, his eyes were fixated on you. You started licking his shaft slowly, all the way up, you placed little kisses on the tip, pushed your tongue out to grab a lil precum and slowly raised your head, a mix of saliva and precum connecting your tongue to his cock. He looked at you in awe, his mouth open, his chest heaving. You opened your mouth and took half of his dick, squeezing it between your palate and your tongue.
"Fuuuuuuck...." He sounded so sexy saying it, it made you want to fuck him even more.
You started sucking his dick quickly, swallowing a little more with every movement while you caressed his inner thighs with your thumbs.
You thought he couldn't get harder than he was but you were clearly wrong. You couldn't wait any longer, you climbed back on top of him, took his dick in your hand and directed it to your entrance. He put his hands on your hips , helping you slide down. You both moaned when the tip went in. You were savouring the moment, taking him little by little when he suddenly bucked his hips and pushed it all in leaving you breathless. You pushed a hand on his chest.
"Hey, hey - you smiled - are you trying to kill me?"
He smiled back "Sorry. I really need to fuck you."
You leaned down and kissed him.
"Just a moment...just a moment..."
You swayed your hips back and forth, clenching your walls everytime you moved forward. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the ride, moaning everytime you squeezed. You licked his neck, from his shoulder to his ear and whispered
"You're so fucking loud."
You both let out a little laugh. He grabbed you by the waist and flipped you over. You let out a little scream and landed on your back, laughing again.
He opened your folds and rubbed on your engorged clit. Guess now it was your turn to be a loud mess.
"Ooh look at you... Fuck, you're beautiful. Squeeze your tits for me."
You obeyed and he immediately climbed on top of you, taking your left nipple in his mouth, sucking on it while he pushed his dick into you. You lifted your hips as he placed your left leg on his shoulder. He let go of your nipple and looked at you.
"Can I fuck you now?"
You lifted your right leg higher so you could feel him better.
"Oh yeah. Fuck me."
He started pounding into you as if he had waited for nothing else.
You stretched your arms and grabbed the sheets, your moans filling the room.
Why was he so good? God, he kept hitting just the right spot.
"Oh shit. Junhoe. Right th...".
You arched your back as you felt the orgasm mounting...and just like that he was gone.
You opened your eyes just in time to see a jet of cum hitting your chest while the rest covered your belly. He wasn't even touching himself.
He almost fell on you, stopping himself with his hands, he looked down, breathless.
"Fuck, FUCK! I'm sorry."
You placed a finger under his chin and made him lift his head.
"Sorry for what? - you smiled warmly looking at the sweat rolling down his face - That was a good ride!"
He smiled and groaned as he rolled to the side, sliding an arm under your head and pulling you closer.
"I swear I'm better than this. You just got me too excited."
You giggled a little embarrassed.
"Junhoe it's fine..."
"I promise I'll blow your mind next time"
"...next time?"
"Oh yeah."
"I don't know if..."
"Can I ask you something? You have to answer me honestly."
"Uhm...OK"
"Have you been avoiding me?"
You widened your eyes in surprise.
"Avoiding you? We had drinks last week..."
"Jay said you used to come by at least a couple days a week before I moved in but since I've been here you must have visited maybe 3 times. Obviously you're not avoiding your brother...so..."
You thought about it for a second...
"Ok. Honest answer. I've wanted to fuck you ever since Jay brought you to my party...but I was still trying to save my relationship and you were a temptation I didn't need..."
"But you broke up before I moved here..."
"...and I was a mess. I felt pathetic and needy and I didn't feel like this was a safe space for me to drunk cry and whine about life..."
"Because of me???"
"Because you make me hot. I didn't want to embarrass myself and you and Jay...."
You shot a look at the clock, it had been almost an hour since your brother left.
"I have to wash up before he comes back..."
You got up from the bed and picked up your shirt then turned around and crawled back on. You kissed Junhoe passionately.
"I shouldn't be fucking my brother's flatmate. You can't say a word
about this. OK?"
"Mmmmh....give me your number?"
You were picking up the rest of your clothes.
"Why?"
"So you can let me know when you're feeling hot and I can tell you when Jay's not home." He answered with a cheesy smile.
"Oh my God you're so stupid." You flashed him a smile and disappeared in the bathroom.
