I sometimes get so sad when I remember how Kiryu lost literally everyone that he'd ever loved in the span of a few days. Shinji, Reina, Yumi, Kazama, Nishiki—all of them died right before his eyes and he couldn't do a damn thing to stop it. He was so depressed by the end of Kiwami, ready to throw away his life, not caring if he ended up behind the bars for life.

Who did he even have left that he could go on for?

Date gives him a reason. The girl who looked a little too much like Yumi. And that sparks something inside him, something so unfamiliar it almost wreaks him from inside out. He couldn't save her mother, but he will die trying to protect Haruka. Because she's the only one he was living for anyway, right?

Who else did he even have?

Except, he had Majima too. He had always had him. Right from their first meeting in the hazy, glittering streets of Kamurocho in '88 to the violently ritualistic run-ins with him in the winter of '05, Majima was the only person who was a constant, grounding presence in his life, no matter how fluttering. This man waited 10 years for Kiryu to get out of prison, was tempted to follow him right in because fuck it, at least they'd be in that shithole together.

Majima is the only person still alive that Kiryu knows from before. And that's a big fucking deal. Majima knew Kiryu Kazuma before he was the "Dragon of Dojima". He knew him as the punk kid with ideals too lofty for their lawless world. In a way, they came of age together, and grew increasingly disillusioned with the Yakuza lifestyle, also together.

Today, Kiryu has more people he loves and more reasons to live than he did back in '05, but no matter how close they get to him, no one will ever get to see that part of him that long since got permanently buried in the rubble of the millennium tower.

No one but Majima, who knows and understands. God, he understands Kiryu so much. That's why, whenever they meet, they don't need to talk all that much. One glance, one fight and a couple of drinks later, it's like no time has passed and they're right back on that fated, glittery night at Tenkaichi, clashing for the first time ever.

Kiryu has spent his entire life protecting those he cares about. But Majima is different. Kiryu knows he doesn't need his protection. He knows that Majima wouldn't be killed simply because he had the misfortune of being associated with him. And so Kiryu subconsciously depends on Majima the way everyone else in his life depends on him. It's not entirely fair, maybe also a bit selfish but Majima indulges him, every single time, without asking anything in return.

So yeah, Date was right when he said that Kiryu had something precious to live for. Haruka, yes but also this crazy bastard of a man who would refuse to leave him alone for the better part of 3 decades.

And Kiryu loves him, goddamnit. There's just no simpler way to say it.

and the latest chapter (104.2) he finally acknowledges that he is angry at his father, yato, and himself, that he wants to break free from those hatred and fix things up, but nobody understands him (and imagine you being yukine and finding out that all this time yato is leaving with kazuma as his shinki).

he wants to live, to love, to be loved. he realizes he did wrong. he apologizes. now he sees the world is once again crumbling in front of his eyes. he turned himself into a wolf ayakashi. he bears those all by himself....... how is the world so cruel? :((

i know people need time and their own to understand and reconcile with their own selves, their past, their problems, like, whatever people do to you or help you do something, you can never fix things if you don't feel and do it yourself, but yukine....... darling you deserve better!!! i'm begging, please adachitoka, make a beautiful ending with my baby yukine (and of course with yatori too), i would never forgive you if you do them otherwise.

Gonna make a bold claim here, and say that Dual Destinies is probably the only Ace Attorney game where I legitimately didn't care about a single victim in any of the game's cases. The game would rather just sit there and incessantly tell the player how good the victim(s) were as people rather than actually show the player firsthand how.

Like, why do you think Mia Fey's death in the first game had much more of an emotional impact on not just the franchise, but the characters involved? Why do you think Kazuma Asogi's supposed death was such a gut-punch?

It's not because those games had every single other character blathering on about how they were good people who didn't deserve to die, or whatever; it's because we were shown how nice they were by spending time with them when they were alive, so that it's all the more of a "Wham!" line when you're made aware of their demise later.

I don't even remember the victims, aside from Metis Cykes who was obviously the Gregory Edgeworth of the game. Interestingly, the previous games somewhat alternated between nice victims you feel sorry for, and asshole victims who lowkey had it coming - AJ is full of those! DD, if I'm not mistaken, has only "nice" victims, almost to compensate. I like the more nuanced approach, as it can make for more compelling storytelling - I think of Mimi Miney murdering her asshole boss who overworked her to the point of accidentally killing 14 people plus her sister, and losing her face. She's memorable precisely because of awful the victim was. Also it's just more realistic: anyone can die, and it doesn't matter if they were good or bad people, everyone deserves justice.

DD's biggest flaw is that it's very, very in your face with its themes. "The Dark Age of Law" is a meme for a reason lol.

Also, yes. Mia is a special case, because she gets more depth post-mortem lol, and her death at first is more about Maya's horrible situation and Phoenix who is suddenly alone. But Asougi was efficiently presented as a very charming, friendly individual, and his apparently senseless death really hurt.

Okay, so. Thoughts I've had on this:

Let Keiko kick ass. Let her keep some kind of magical ability after the sword arc. Fuck, give her a touch of jagan in the 4 spirit beasts arc and when she gets chased by the people possessed by the demon bugs (she knows somethings wrong with them, freaks out, lets say she talks to Kuwabara Kazuma about it half remembering when he got possessed by Yusuke while Yusuke was a ghost.) Let Hiei teach her (and give him an actual reason to hang around rather than just Kurama). Give both of them some character development that isn't related to their romantic interests.

Let Kuwabara's sister, Shizuru, at least light someone on fire. Just. As a treat.

Kurama and Hiei's whole reasons to help Yusuke and co. I think it was theoretically because the whole sacred item theft thing? That whole arc just makes no sense except as an excuse to introduce those two and make them help Yusuke. So I haven't watched past the tournament end because I've not been in the mood for the sort of body horror the togoro brothers are, but I have read all the wikis and such because I'm stuck and was trying to get unstuck. So.

The whole thing with demons being forced to commit crimes they wouldn't normally do and framed and executed/imprisoned thing. Why not make that related to the introduction of Hiei, Kurama, and that Goki dude. Say Kurama or Hiei finds out about that and/or Hiei is on the hit list. So, they go to Koenma and make a deal. Kurama gets to save his mother, Hiei is stopped from prison, someone actually horrible gets dead and they work with Koenma to stop this from happening.

Yes this does end up with a coup from Koenma and co. But honestly? The Rescue Yukina arc is really fucked up. The humans can kidnap and torture her. Can kill non-humans at will and no one seems to give a shit. Yusuke certainly never faces censure for any of the demons he kills. But killing humans is forbidden to demons, no matter how vile said humans are. If the humans are the aggressors, demons are still expected to use non-lethal methods. Even if the humans are slavers torturing someone for profit. No. Just. No.

Koenma has been deliberately stunting his own growth to stop his parent from destroying the world while throwing a tantrum (saving all the power that should have gone to his growth). Starts a conspiracy to get the Spirit Detective to learn about the shit system and help force the parent into retirement (thats what Koenma tells himself at least (it lets him sleep at night)). So Hiei and Kurama are in the conspiracy. Leading them into them trying to keep Yusuke alive and training him to be competent. Hiei's price for helping is Rescue Yukina because clearly no one has given a shit about the rampant slavery and shit going on. Maybe thats addressed in the next arc in the show?

Back on track. Genkai. I don't have a great feel for where to take her. She's clearly a chaos mentor, but she also clearly ran out of fucks about 50 years ago. Seeing more of her tournament would've been interesting. Speed up a couple of the fights (Yusuke isn't *that* interesting, nor is him getting functionally tortured in that cave, give us what Genkai is thinking about like comrades in the tournament as flashbacks while she has to wait to see if Yusuke is going to survive this shit)

So recap: Kurama and Hiei get dragged in for the heist in part because Kurama needs the item to save his mother and Hiei wants to save his sister and to not get framed and murdered. They set up Goki who is an asshole who deserves a little murdered.

Officially, those two are being forced to mentor Yusuke by Koenma. They're actually joining team Coup. As a side effect of Hiei's thing with the sword and Keiko, she gets a bit of the jagan and has to learn how to control it. Yusuke gets sent to learn from Genkai (and be tested by her to an extent).

4 (saint?) beasts happens mostly as cannon but Keiko can tell something is Wrong and can kinda see the bugs possessing people. She kinda figures Something is going on with Yusuke, but not sure what exactly that is.

Then the video about Yukina. More emphasis on the laws being bullshit (Yusuke can kill watsisface slaver jackass but Hiei would be imprisoned or killed for it). And the kind of horror that there's an entire club of humans doing monstrous things to demons who can't fight back (noncombatants or legally because killing humans rule). Like. Really look hard at whats going on there, have more humans clearly involved. Make it real clear whats happening. That its known to be happening. And that its not a priority to address the issue. But let it mostly play out the same way.

Though Hiei tells Yukina who he is. He doesn't tell anyone but Kurama that he did, partly just to fuck with the others. Though the two don't really know how to be siblings, they start to kinda reach out and give a fuck. Partly how she ends up at the tournament when she does (instead of just IDK why, it makes no sense to me why she'd go anywhere near that given who runs it)

The less action-y bits have more Yusuke interacting with Keiko and Kuwabara. More Hiei/Kurama. See more of whats happening behind the scenes politics wise, what the fall out might include from the rescue (politically). Maybe a bit more of Yukina as well, adjusting to being free and to getting to know her brother. This brings us to the dark tournament. Which really needs its own reblog because its a LOT going on. Especially if we're getting into historyof the tournament.

After that remark about Yusuke serving Ichigo ramen, I now have a mighty need for an AEIWAM/TPOFATGIF-style fic for Yu Yu Hakusho. I know you have a lot on your plate right now (so no pressure!), but I also know whatever you decided to do with YYH would be *sublime*.

...aside from making it like 500% gayer and letting Keiko beat a few men to death? Not much, really. It's got some pacing issues and I could build an extension outback re: spirit world beauracracy, but it's not as full of lost character arcs and gaping holes in the world building as Bleach and Yu-Gi-Oh are. There is simply less to do?

Keiko should have been allowed to beat the shit out of some people tho.

Bittersweet, but let's all enjoy this final arc together! I'm terrified!! What on earth is going to happen!!! How do all the loose ends get tied up????

Ok now that that's out of the way. He makes a valid point- from his point of view, at least. From what we have seen of his backstory, Yato was created by a wish born of his deep feelings of injustice, of being left behind to die by the world and the gods ("You were my prayer"). TO him, Yato has always been a tool he had a right to, he deserved, to "cull the herd", to take back the power he believed was for him and taken away. Yato was Father's lifeline in a similar fashion as Father was his. He was his precious means of justice until he wasn't anymore. And he loved him in the same sick and twisted way he loves Mizuchi for very similar reasons. Again from what we know up until now, I fear it might be all he knows, love for someone as a means to an end; but I'm afraid we just won't know that until we learn more about his relationship to Kaya (vibrating with excitement As We Speak).

AA Ask game: 50, 51, 52

sorry that it took me a bit to get to these! i should have anticipated that i’d be indecisive ahah

- 50: Fav moment? 

it’s honestly impossible for me to choose a single favorite, i doubt i would even be able to narrow it down to ten favorites lmao, but here’s a moment i really like that was the first one to pop into my head: Edgeworth’s objection in 1-3 in order to prolong the trial. (“I was hoping to come up with a question while I was objecting, Your Honor. …I didn’t.”)

i like that moment so much because, especially in hindsight, it’s incredibly significant character-development wise. it’s one of the turning points of Edgeworth’s arc. it’s the first proof we get that the noble man Phoenix believes he is is still in there somewhere, and Phoenix is slowly starting to drag that deeply buried conscience out of him. in that moment, he just wanted to know the truth, and it hits hard knowing that a year or two later, he’s made finding the truth at all costs his whole philosophy. this was really the moment that started him on that journey, and by his own admission, it’s almost entirely because of Phoenix.

- 51: Saddest moment?

this question made me realize that there are a lot more really heartbreaking moments in AA than you would expect from the silly anime lawyer game lmao. again I could never really choose just one, but a plotline they use a few times that absolutely destroys me every time is when a character thinks they may have accidentally killed someone when they were little. they do it with Edgeworth, Ema, and Athena (am i forgetting any?) and while they all emotionally ruined me, I think there’s something especially compelling and awful about Athena’s. even though it turns out it's not actually what happened, the idea of a child "taking apart" her mother without understanding what she was doing is unspeakably sad and disturbing. for a specific moment, I’m torn between her “did I kill my mother…?” and the mood matrix segment where Simon takes the stand and lies desperately to try to protect her. it’s also been a while since i played DD and i only played it once, so I can’t remember all the specifics but that’s one I still sometimes lie in bed and think about lol

- 52: Funniest moment?

in the first investigation day in DGS2-3, Ryunosuke and Iris go to Van Zieks’ office to ask him some questions. while they’re there, examining various things around his office leads to a series of very funny dialogue as they criticize and muse about Van Zieks and the decor… while he stands there within earshot, exasperated but unwilling to actually make them leave. this exchange in particular had me in stitches:

Ryunosuke: Look at all those ancient casks lining the wall there.

Iris: Casks in the Reaper's chamber... ...Or are they caskets?

Ryunosuke: You, you don't think... ...all those p-people who escaped c-c-conviction in court are lying inside them...d-dead, do you?

Van Zieks: What ridiculous notions are going through your head, man? This is my collection of fine vintages!

Ryunosuke: Oh...yes, of course. Thank you for clearing that up...

Iris: Runo and I were just musing to ourselves. Don't mind us, Mr Reaper.

Van Zieks: I wouldn't, if you hadn't invited yourselves to my office to talk nonsense within my earshot.

Upon their return to Fodlan, Kazuma, Rean, Towa, and Aigis have found that it has changed drastically. Whether it was for better or worse, was unknown.

All they knew was to find Sitri, who had requested House Isekai's aid...

[Life at Garreg Mach Monastery - Fire Emblem: Three Houses OST]

Kazuma, Towa, Rean, and Aigis walked awkwardly through the crowds of students and guards, trying not to stare at their technology.

(Aigis) "Their devices seem...eerily similar to yours, Rean."

(Rean) "Arcus units and Soldats..."

Rean looked at the bipedal golems with swords and shields walking through the courtyard. It looked like students were trying to use them properly.

(Kazuma) "Soldats? Those things kinda like Valimar?"

(Towa) "Yes, but far easier to produce and a lot less strong, to put it simply."

(Rean) "How did they even get something like this? In our world, they took so many years to develop, alongside orbal technology..."

(Towa) "And their version of arcus units, didn't they look like the crystals from the Zanado tower?"

(Aigis) "Perhaps we should ask these questions to Sitri. Though, I am unsure of how to find her, since we do not have the proper clearance."

(Kazuma) "Hmph. Not to mention we aren't students, I'm pretty sure we're weirding people out just by being here."

Towa turned to where the Cathedral used to be, only to see a massive hangar full of the bipedal golems and guards from all three nations populating it.

(Towa) "The Cathedral was going to be my guess, but I don't think that's an option."

(Rean) "Maybe the listening hall?"

(Kazuma) "Are we even going to be allowed up there?"

(Familliar Woman's voice) "...Oh my goodness! It really is you guys!"

Everyone turned around to the woman's voice and were greeted by an old friend.

(Kazuma) "Merce-! HOLY SHIT!"

Mercedes was accompanied by two of the massive golems, armed with a shield and lance just as big as them.

(Rean) "WOAH!"

(Towa) "EEP!"

(Mercedes) "Haha, oh, I am so sorry! I didn't mean to frighten anyone!"

(Aigis) "It is amazing how that got behind us without anyone hearing them-"

(Rean) "U-Um, it's good to see you again Mercedes!"

(Towa) "AHEM! What are you doing here?"

(Kazuma) "More importantly, why are those golem things following you around?!"

(Mercedes) "I am simply a visitor, just like you four! Sitri thought it best to have bodyguards accompany me. Those bodguards happen to be the form of Knights."

(Towa) "...Knights sure have changed since we last saw them, huh?"

(Aigis) "Speaking of which, do you happen to know where Sitri is?"

(Mercedes) "Indeed I do! Would you like me to take you to her?"

(Rean) "Yes please."

Rean looked at the golems called "Knights" and couldn't help but feel nervous.

Now he knew how it felt to have Valimar follow around the old House Isekai.

(Mercedes) "Please, follow me!"

Everyone nodded and let Mercedes guide the way, the Knights following closely behind.

(Aigis) "It seems Fodlan's technology has greatly improved since we left."

(Mercedes) "It has, my mind is really having trouble keeping up nowadays. It seems every other month some new device for communication is put out!"

(Aigis) "That's a familiar feeling..."

(Kazuma) "So...everything's been fine since House Isekai left?"

Mercedes stopped outside the main hall's entrance and turned to the knights.

(Mercedes) "Worry not, these four protected me during the Five Year War. I will return shortly."

The Knights' heads nodded.

They went up into the building of the main entrance hall, making their way up to the second floor of Garreg Mach. The knights remained outdoors and Mercedes looked around her to make sure they were alone.

(Mercedes) "To be quite honest, it has been a bit...troubling. There's a host of new problems ever since this new partnership between the empire, kingdom, and alliance began. But, that shouldn't be anything you have to worry about! Actually, why are you here?"

(Rean) "We received a call from Sitri, requesting help from us. I guess the four of us were the only ones able to respond."

(Mercedes) "I see. If she requested House Isekai, then I am not sure it is a good thing...Oh? I believe she's speaking to someone inside."

(Sitri) “Then let’s get started. I have called you five here, because you are the best and brightest Garreg Mach Monastery has to offer."

Sitri put her hand to her chest and closed her eyes.

(Sitri) "We live in troubled times, as you can no doubt see for yourselves. Even with the advancement of our technology ever since the calamity two years ago, tensions between our nations remain at an all time high."

The students looked at each other, not sure of where this speech was going.

(Sitri) "Garreg Mach Monastery was created to represent the very best our nations had to offer, and pave a way for our youth to shape our world. That is why you all are here.

Of our three Houses, you have been chosen for an experimental class, and will be leading from example."

(Stefan) "E-Experimental how?"

(Sitri) "Surely you have heard of House Isekai?"

(Helena) "Think I remember hearing rumors about them with my old mercenary group."

(Astrid) "Those group of weirdos and undead!?"

(Kazuma's Voice) "Who are they calling weir-"

(Towa's Voice) "K-Kazuma! They'll hear us!"

(Kairos) "I only know from what I read from reports. They were the fourth house of Garreg Mach, right?"

Sitri nodded.

(Sitri) "They were a group of people that came from beyond our world, all with different histories and personalities. The reason I bring them up is because they worked with all three classes before the Five Year War began. And they were the ones who stopped the calamity from destroying our world."

(Elizabeth) ...?! "Hold a moment, Lady Sitri! Have we been called to work with these off worlders?! They have no place in meddling in the affairs of Fodlan!"

(Kairos) "Hmph. For once I agree with her, this matter should be left to us-"

Sitri raised a hand and interrupted them.

(Sitri) "These "off-worlders" had the opportunity to leave us to our fates when the calamity was at its worst. Instead, they chose to stay and fight for our sake. I trust them with my life. And so do your nations' leaders."

(Everyone) "..."

(Sitri) "Prepare yourselves to travel out, grab any essential gear and report back. We will continue the briefing once you are more situated."

The students quietly left the room, keeping their thoughts to themselves.

They were too preoccupied to notice that they had walked by Kazuma, Rean, Aigis, and Towa.

(Mercedes) "I have my own business to attend to unfortunately, so I will see you all later!"

Mercedes bowed while everyone else waved goodbye, and she followed the students down.

Once they went downstairs, Rean was the first to enter the room.

Sitri took a deep breath and smiled when she saw them.

(Sitri) "Hello, everyone. I hope that speech I gave was alright."

(Towa) "I like to think so, but I can definitely see why the kids are so confused."

(Aigis) "You do not seem shocked that we are here."

(Sitri) "Well, I did have someone looking out the door for me."

She motioned behind her, Sothis materializing in front of everyone and waving.

(Sothis) "Besides, with how loud Kazuma is, I don't think it was too hard guessing who it was."

Kazuma rolled his eyes.

(Kazuma) "Yeah yeah, whatever."

(Rean) "I see you've been keeping yourself busy!"

Sitri sighed again, though sounding far more tired.

(Sitri) "You have NO idea...I hadn't realized how exhausting being a professor is, not to mention leading the reconstruction effort."

(Towa) "Oh, so that's why Garreg Mach is active again! You're doing such a good job!"

(Sitri) "Thank you, Towa. There's far more that needs to be done, but we've been getting by."

(Kazuma) "So, what exactly did you need us here for? We got your message."

(Sothis) "Well, a number of things really, but we should get to the most troubling news first."

(Sitri) "Right. We'll have time to catch up later. It's about the Zanado Tower."

Everyone straightened their backs and frowned.

(Sothis) "We've been getting reports from the guards that...strange creatures are emerging from it."

(Kazuma) "That's descriptive. What makes them strange?"

(Sitri) "They seem to have intelligence but...they're nothing like we've ever seen before. Claude is in charge of the area around Zanado, so he ordered his men to just keep observing. These creatures never get too far, on account that they are killed by an unknown group."

(Aigis) "Do we have any visual references for any of these?"

Sitri nodded, and pulled out a crystal-like device.

It appeared similar to a tablet, but the information was displayed floating above it, which Sitri began swiping at it, making it show a picture of the creature.

(Rean) "What in the...?"

(Aigis) "It does not appear to be a Shadow."

(Kazuma) "Hmph. Nothing I've seen in my world."

(Sothis) "To be honest, we were hoping at least one from every group showed up to confirm this or not, but for the time being we can only guess it's from a world none of us are familiar with."

(Towa) "But, I thought we stopped the Tower from continuing to rip apart other worlds?"

(Sitri) "We did. And that's why we're concerned."

(Sothis) "It doesn't seem like it's having any overall negative effects on Fodlan, but this only showed up recently."

(Sitri) "I put the message out a week ago, and if you all only now received it..."

(Rean) "Then we shouldn't waste any time. We need to investigate immediately."

(Sothis) "Our thoughts exactly. Which is why..."

Sothis turned to the door and disappeared, the students of Garreg Mach arriving back in the room, each carrying a small bag with them.

The students realized that there were more people in the room now.

(Astrid) "Wow, they look weird."

(Elizabeth) "Astrid! Where are your manners?!"

(Stefan) "Sorry about tha-...Wait a second..."

(Helena) "Hmph, maybe that's why. Are you guys from House Isekai?"

(Kairos) "Wait, these are supposed to be the people who saved us?"

(Rean) "Well, obviously we're not the full class but we were the core members. I'm Rean Schwarzer of Class VII."

(Kazuma) "Kazuma."

(Towa) "I'm Towa Herschel, it's a pleasure to meet the new generation of Garreg Mach's finest!"

(Aigis) "Aigis of S.E.E.S. Hello."

(Astrid) "Huh. Don't look like much to me."

(Stefan) "Well, we are pleased to meet House Isekai in the flesh after all the stories we've heard!"

Helena looked to the others. Astrid was frowning while Kairos and Elizabeth looked mutually revolted.

(Helena) "Least two of us are. Good job on getting those two to agree on something, though."

(Towa) "I-I'm sorry?"

(Kairos) "Lady Sitri, with all due respect, this is something that WE need to do ourselves. Getting outside help-"

(Sitri) "-Is necessary, considering what we're going up against. We all will be visiting the Zanado Tower in order to investigate the strange creatures coming out of it."

While Sitri recounted what she told House Isekai, the members of the old House looked at each other.

(Kazuma) "The hell do they got against us?"

(Aigis) "I am unsure. Did we do something wrong?"

(Towa) "Rean..."

(Rean) "I know, Towa. Well, I kind of have a suspicion."

(Aigis/Kazuma) ?

(Rean) "When my country occupied another, we were seen as meddling outsiders who had no business interfering in their affairs, causing all sorts of grief for every citizen involved..."

(Kazuma) "But it's not like our Houses have been taking over the territories here-"

(Towa) "True, but it's not like we had zero impact on the world either. I mean, just look at their technology! I think it's safe to say without us, they would not have progressed so fast."

(Aigis) "That is...a fair point."

Rean took another look at the students.

(Rean) "They remind me a little of my own class. And if that's taught me anything, is that they'll come around eventually. It's not like we all got along straight away either."

(Sitri) "...Now, without any futher delay.-"

Sitri closed her eyes for a moment as a portal slowly began to open behind them.

(Sitri) "I will take the lead for now. Everyone, please follow me."

They nodded and Sitri and the old members of House Isekai went in first.

(Elizabeth) "Ugh, this will NOT go well..."

(Kairos) "It's not like we can say no to Lady Sitri. We'll have to follow along for now."

(Astrid) "I mean, I don't think they seem that bad, just weird."

(Stefan) "We have to give them a chance at least!"

(Helena) "Fodlan's been through worse anyway. What's the worst that could happen?"

Meanwhile, inside the Zanado Tower...

Class VII stepped through the portal and found themselves in a completely alien environment.

(Juna) "Woah..."

(Kurt) "What in the...?!"

(Altina) "Hm...The structure does not match any known signatures from our world."

(Ash) "Think that much is obvious."

(Musse) "Where's Instructor Rean?"

(Juna) "Uh, I think the better question is how do we even leave?"

(Kurt) "There appears to be a doorway ahead. Perhaps we can take that?"

(Ash) "Beats standing around."

Ash and Kurt moved first, with the rest of Class VII following..."

Through the scope of a sniper, a helmeted soldier slowly watched Class VII exit and wander the facility.

He was accompanied by three other soldiers, all wearing the same helmet and suit, with slight variations on their armor making them distinct from one another.

They were extremely high up on the platforms as they continued to fly past them, yet they still made an effort to remain out of sight.

(Buck) "What do you see Romeo?"

(Romeo) "Five kids. All wearing the same uniform, humans from the looks of it. Carrying some weird lookin weapons too."

Dutch lowered his weapon and sighed.

(Dutch) "Finally, some good news."

(Mickey) "Is it? How the heck did they even get here?"

(Buck) "One thing at a time. Right now, we go and get those kids to follow us, before whatever the hell those things were finds them first."

(Romeo) "Or, we could just find the exit instead."

(Mickey) "And leave them to die?"

(Dutch) "Really?"

(Buck) "..."

(Romeo) "Jeez, tough crowd."

Everyone picked up their equipment and followed after Class VII.

(Romeo) "Besides, the weapons on them were-"

Amber dusted off some of the crates around her and found food inside.

Although they packaging was covered in dust, they appeared to be fresh.

Duvalie walked past Venti and her face scrunched up seeing how fast he stuffed it down his throat.

(Duvalie) "Tch, don't let that dust stop you from inhaling the food."

(Jean) "I suppose if it tastes alright...?"

Though Diluc didn't want to admit that. He already saw how ecstatic she was seeing Jean and himself fight. Though, a part of him wondered where she came from. She certainly wasn't from their world...

Sitri stepped through the portal first, and the former members of House Isekai, and the Garreg Mach students came in right behind.

Drawing the Sword of the Creator, she took a deep breath before turning to the group.

(Sitri) "Students of Garreg Mach, begin the mission!"

Well, I'm happy my dabi seems nuanced. That's the idea but I don't want people to say "you are making him to soft or fluffy"

The problem with Izu tag, regardless of the gender, is how the parasite WILL be there. Trans Izu, fem Izu or anything else...that PoS will be there. So....I had to roll my sleeves and write my own version of Fem Izu. BK is nothing more than a footnote in her life that she eraser now...bk and his croonies? Think of he forever.

What is the concept for Kazuma?

Never get why when a piece of media shows up the good "exist magic people and non magic people" people love to oppress the non super power people. Its ....strange. quirkless are seen as smth akin to sacred, only ReDestro hates them and wants to make his QUIRKLESS purge fanfic a reality...everyone says no. Its out of surviving ...HC is even allowing bigamy if your partner is QUIRKLESS and if you sire quirkless kids, HC is over the moon. (Trumpet is more than willing to betray his friend for this cause bc ...there no future without quirkless)

Mutants on the other hand...are seen as more..."the other" some mutants are became more and more uncanny. The line between human and mutant is almost invisible.

Funny you asked bc he is her boss in this au...he pass away BC of his quirk...dude had 35 years old and his quirk sniff his life away. He knew he would die...no one told Izumi his quirk was killing him....its a shock when she finds out.

Izumi IS unhinged too so there that. Hero or villain, Dabi is a weirdo...but dude has charism and is fun writing him. Maybe I make him a hero who totally wants to murder his father.

The fanon idea of overhaul adoring or loving QUIRKLESS Izu is a bit of stretch to me. Overhaul likes power, overhaul can admire Izumi's hard work - you don't became a famous and big shot photographer without working- and can admire QUIRKLESS for being free of the disease...but Izu can totally see how hypocrite he is. He admires how quirkless doesn't have an op quirk like his, with no draw back...

Overhaul would bring Izumi to his social events with others big shots and...people do coment how pretty Izumi is. One of the prettiest quirkless there.

I think by this point she has an idea this is the Yakuza.

Oh also ....I told you this would darker! Well, when Izu got Eri's guardianship...it's time to enroll her in a school- her pops let her be homeschooled thanks to an assassination attempt frustrated. It was not a good day- and Eri has spend too much time in the house...some social interaction with kids of her age is welcome. The pops agrees ...Izumi goes to those fancy schools and is dead set on "is this school knows how to handle bullying"

The first school dismissed her "you can't afford our fees anyway" and see Izumi entering in the Chisaki's limo. Big mistake on their part.

She eventually found a nice school..their anti bullying policy is solid. But she notices some kids being loud and the teachers let them roam freely.

Izu: and those kids?

Principal: oh....they have a pass....Miss Midoriya...those kids won't live to reach teenagehood.

And we get the plot twist. Many kids who have canons on their mouths or smth ridiculous like that...die before reaching 13. Its in all schools, all of them. The parents could put the kid in a hospital till it's time to die or give a semblance of normalcy.

Mutants kids are also being refused in some schools. They do look more animal than human and it's getting strange and uncomfortable.

Izumi was oblivious to all this.

In the end, she picks Toya's old school (can confirm all schools are like that hence why what aldera did is so hated by everyone. Quirkless are seen as SMTH precious ...so what Izumi endured was for nothing!)

I'm not even the biggest fan of Dabi in terms of looks, but always found very weird how the anime constantly makes him look way more defined and with bigger muscles than he has in the manga.

Isn't a bit contradictory for his character to look super ripped? Horikoshi clearly drawn Dabi in that specific way because the story makes emphasis on his body being more frail due having a weak constitution, also contrasting him to the rest of mens in the family who got the big and strong constitution of Enji, Natsuo especially. The anime just lose all the meaning behind that.

And this is more of a personal preference but I find Dabi's body in the manga to look much more attractive and less generic than in the anime. Skinny guys can look attractive as well.

Let me start with this. Have you seen how in the Tumblr the tags of dabi x reader and shig x reader there a HUGE contrast in quality? Shig is depicted as a creepy and weirdo incel while Dabi IS "I'LL STEAL YOUR WIFE😏"

now on a controversial take. I do like the idea of dabi losing his scars. Why? Would increase his quality of life...I find odd how everyone in LoV accepts Dr. Evil's word and never try to take a second opinion. Also, without the scars Dabi would look way more like Endy making his claim be more powerful.

(not a fan of erasing Shig's scars nor the "crusty" jokes. Shig is handsome with his scars)

Now onto your ask: I think Bones just like to make characters hot in a conventional way, JJK men got to be hotter than the manga. But I do notice how bones lacks in translate the manga to anime. Some of the scenes of the manga were done so dirty.

Dabi became hotter aka buffer bc of this. Btw, many dabi x reader like to make the reader have a healing quirk (it should be a trope by now) just so it can heal dabi...which no one account that dabi IS self destructive, a healing quirk is nice but he would do again...unless he changes his mindset (I'm trying to explore this in my fic called besties)

Ask yourself: did shig NEEDED to be buffaraki? Was afo the quirk really need you to be buff?

(was necessary for Izu to gain muscles? Maybe, maybe not)

So to answer: Dabi is attractive in any shape. His writing trumps over shig any day even if shig IS more attractive than Dabi.

"Mm?" She responded, not taking her eyes off the road ahead of them.

"... I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to upset you." He said softly, playing with a thread on his jacket. "You're not that smelly.. and I don't think those bad names reflect who you are." He said, causing Tiptuchi to laugh a little. "You don't have to say sorry. There's nothing to be sorry for, idiot." She gave him a small bump to his shoulder.

For a moment, she looked back at the two other adults who were taking them in and sighed. "I should be the one apologising." She slowed down a bit to allow the others to catch up and stood next to Nozomi. "Sorry. I'm not... Use to kindness." She shrugged. "If I'm honest, I don't really trust you guys yet. It's scary to me that you're willing to just... Allow us into your base." She said.

"Tip murdered people." Masaru added on, of course not helping the situation whatsoever.

"I did, but only people who deserved it. I'm not a mindless killer... Not like Jaxus, I got no gratification for what I did but you two shouldn't be so quick to trust either." She added, holding Masaru close. "I'm not a good person."

"But you're not bad either Tippy, you gotta remember that part." Her brother said.

“Good idea,” Tsubomi chuckled, plugging her nose with her fingers due to her own stench. She started leading Monaca with the group, not wanting Kazuma to start nagging again. “We so need to shower. Nozomi wouldn’t want to take a sniff of any of this. You know how she gets.”

She laughed over the reaction she imagined her sister would have if she were here to see them, all bloody and smelling like they had come out of the worst sewers on planet earth. At first the timid one of the sisters would express sheer horror and disgust, and then she’d emit an authoritative aura and request that they clean themselves immediately. Tsubomi wouldn’t have the strength to suppress her amusement. Unless Nozomi decided to amp up her discipline. She may be cute, but she was no pushover.

Nozomi’s emotions had stabilized moments ago, but now they screamed in her eyes after Tiptuichi’s confession. So what Jaxus told them was…?

She glanced at Haiji, who shared a wide-eyed expression identical to hers, before she struggled to face Tiptuichi again.

“Y-Y-Y-You killed people…?!” Nozomi swallowed to control her voice. “Oh, I knew Haiji was being careless!”

“Wait!! Nozomi, I swear I’m not that stupid! I thought they were different compared to the shitbags we got rid of a while back!” His gaze zeroed in on Tiptuichi. “Let me get this straight. You actually killed a hospital full of people?!”

His breath froze in his lungs. Realizing what he had just said, he smacked a hand over his mouth. They weren’t supposed to know he and Nozomi encountered Jaxus! Now look what he did.

MD is very sassy, I think. All he knows is that he identifies as a problem and a prosecutor, and he has a Job in Britain, which if you wanted to be angsty… You could argue that MD might have thought his Job was to be by Barok's side, because he was so lonely for so long, and MD is an excellent way to make him remember the joy of being alive. He can be snarky in a bunch of ways that make Barok laugh and annoy the defense, which he probably takes quite some joy out of doing. He doesn't know that Susato is sixteen. He only knows his job is to be her Rival in court and he will do it gladly.

That is in fact the Asogi crest on his belt! The mask isn't /quite/ the Asogi crest, but it's pretty close, and there's no way Barok didn't see it. By the end of 2-3, especially given how Ryunosuke and Susato are reacting, there's just no way Barok hasn't figured out who Kazuma is. Once Susato gave him Kazuma's name, he already knows Ryunosuke is the replacement for the student who died, and the moment he looks into that he sees 'Asogi Kazuma' on the documentation, and he knows exactly who he has on his hands. Opening Pandora's box, indeed. Stronghart, well, he didn't think Ryunosuke was a problem, and that was his downfall. :p

Yeah, I don't think Sholmes was having much fun with that either tbh. Yuujin was definitely not impressed either, that's for sure, he would 100% think Sholmes flubbed some of that. :p

IT DOES HURT DOESN'T IT. One of these days I have to write a fic about those couple of weeks Kazuma spent entirely on his own. Especially if like… she died the day after the anniversary of Genshin's death. Just so it would hit home. Kazuma definitely wasn't having a very good time!!

Honestly, the MD's turning point of remembering he's Kazuma gets so much worse when you realize that Barok must have known who he was at that point, which means that Kazuma realizes Barok knew, and was hiding it from him, just like how everyone else hid the truth from him, too. Which is such a betrayal to him, on top of everything else Barok's done. But the thing is… Barok would have trusted Kazuma, a bit. Kazuma already knows Barok didn't do any of the murders, because he would have seen him pacing back and forth in his office, trying to work out the Reaper. For all we know, Kazuma went with him investigating, trying to figure it out.

Kazuma in 2-4/5 has to balance "the Reaper, the guy who killed my father and so many other people" with "Barok, the guy who took me for ice cream and gave me every bit of safety he could because he knew I needed stability". He was very likely living in the van Zieks manor with him, because I'm not sure Barok would trust his apprentice with an unguarded flat in London when he probably doesn't know how rent works. If we assume MD/Barok to be a ship here, he's sitting there with the betrayal of /both/ of his loves, one standing on the other side of the courtroom telling him he's wrong, and the other having secretly been evil this whole time.

It's no surprise he's falling apart, is what I'm saying. And just adding on the mystery of Kazuma to MD, that's even angstier. Because now he has two mysteries: who is he, and who is this Kazuma Asogi (and why does the defense think he is this guy?). And both of them have the same answer, and Barok probably isn't sharing his suspicions, and it would just hurt all the more. But at the same time… MD's existence is pretty peaceful, compared to Kazuma's. He's happier than he was before, with so much weighing him down. You're so right in saying that he's become the mouse among the apex predators: because he is. In that moment, he's never felt so small, under the realization of how utterly big his problems are, and how incapable he is of solving them.

So he has to speedrun learning to trust, all over again, just as he was watching Barok learn to trust /him/. Kazuma Asogi is the guy of all time, is what I'm saying.

Alexa, play Only As Good As My God by Everything Everything. It's scenic for the downfall of Stronghart, as a song about police brutality also fits the mastermind behind the killing of many nobles and criminals who claims it's all in the name of justice. The horse imagery in this song aligns with Stronghart having unicorn motifs in his design. Funny how a symbol of purity and innocence is also a symbol of power and Stronghart took that from 0 to 100.

Van Zieks can you please roundhouse kick Stronghart for me? He's right next to you. Take the shot.

And that concludes The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles! This was an incredible duology that will stick with me for a long time. As much as the first game's cases may not have been as much to my fancy, the characters immediately hooked me in and the second game made it all worthwhile. The pins were set and knocked down in a fantastical fashion! TGAA2 might've actually surpassed Dual Destinies as my favorite Ace game, which is a tough height to reach! The Phantom is still my favorite culprit though, so don't worry no one's gonna steal his title heheh.

And with the story of the ancestors at an end (for now, please Capcom make a Van Zieks Investigation game with Kazuma as his assistant I beg you it's what I crave), it's time to go investigate some men with Edgeworth! Starting tomorrow! Perhaps I could write up my live reactions for this newly remastered duology, too, hmm... I'll let future Neo decide!

That was something Kyo noticed. The kids tended to hang around him more. He didn't mind it but Kyo was always someone that needed space. Ray on the other hand preferred to be surrounded by loved ones all the time. Company was one of her favorite thing and they constantly had people over. It reminded him of being back at Shigure's. He preferred if he wasn't set for a nostalgic loop before he went out with his son. As he felt the same about Genkai and Miya. He felt closer to them then Katsumi. Most of the time Katsumi was in his own little world. He was good at listening to Kyo's directions when they trained but a problem was he was too competitive. Kyo remembered having the similar disposition but he couldn't remember it being as intense. Maybe it had been and he was mellowing in his old age.

Katsumi did seem to like to be active and that was where Ray came in so that got along really well. Most days when Kyo wasn't training or exercising he was sitting around the house. Miya would get him to play with her or she'd crawl into his lap to cuddle. That was similar to her mother she loved being held and would fuss when she was put down. Not that it really bothered Kyo since that was his baby girl. She was very much spoiled be everyone. The center of attention. Now that Genkai was a teenager there were more opportunities with him. Such as the conversations Kyo had with Kazuma about and because the kids were getting older what the future held. He wasn't worried having talked with Ray about it too. It really didn't matter as long as the kids were happy and safe. They would have a bright future ahead such as the one Kyo was allowed to have because of Ray.

Kyo slipped on his shoes returning to Genkai. The kid was getting taller about as tall as he was when he was in high school. "You know how tiny you make her feel? She wears those heels all the time but some of them only make her as tall as Aunt Rose. And I tell her all the time it's killing the arch support but I guess that's one reason for the runs." Genkai was one of the people Kyo felt comfortable to ramble to. He didn't usually talk much but Kyo was always open to share his opinion. Which reminded him. "How are things with Asa?" He couldn't say that he was thrilled they were dating. If she was who Genkai wanted he didn't have a place. Beside that he knew Asahi and that she was a good kid. Maybe a little too energetic but Kyo understood the appeal.

As to what they would do for the next few hours he did think a hike would be a good choice. "Not a tea party or anything. We should get something for lunch then go on a hike. There's trails nearby. Your grandpa and I used to walk through them all the time. Also Katsumi and Miya don't have the patience for things like walking or fishing. I told him that before when we were training too. He needs to learn that because I'm planning for him to take the dojo." He hoped Genkai wasn't going to be disappointed with that decision. It seemed the best option. "I know you're probably going to go off to college or something like that. I remember trying to teach you but it just never fit you. Which I know it's not for everyone. I still want you to know that whatever you choose. We're going to back you."

He was pretty sure that was who was going to inherit the dojo when Kyo and Ray were Kazuma’s age. Not that he wouldn’t love to give it to their firstborn. Genkai wasn’t interested in it like he was. And he had no idea about what Miya would want. He was certain Genkai would go off to college after he was done with high school. That was never something Kyo was interested in. Although Ray did get her degree when they were younger.

“We’ll have some time for just us. You’re right it’s been awhile when it hasn’t been just us. Your mother and I also try to get out together every once in awhile like this. It’s why we always appreciate when you stay with them.” Genkai had always been wonderful about taking care of his siblings. Doing whatever they asked of him. He was right on it. He was a great kid and one that was reliable. Kyo was so proud of him. Of the man he was becoming.

He stood up to stretch. “I’m going to go find her. I’ll be right back.” He left to go to Ray telling her that him and Genkai were going out for awhile. After getting the reminder and okay he leaned down to kiss her parting to return to his son. “Let’s go.’

Miya was also his little princess who did anything to spend time with dad.  She loved her father more than anything which he understand.  To be honest, Genkai favored Kyo a bit more than his mother too.  It was just that Kyo and he had always shared a bond.  Their father was the best.  Genkai realized that long ago.  “He is more like mom.  Full of energy.”  Great with people and he tended to do well with most things.  Even when Katsumi sucked he still had fun and made it fun.  

He was glad to hear that.  He didn’t really want to feel so desperate for asking but it really mattered to him.  He wanted to do something.  Anything really.  “Alright we could go fishing or for a hike.”  whatever they did, didn’t need to be way over the top.  Just being together was enough.  “I love them and I like spending time with them both.  Katsumi may be too cool for me now.”  he rubbed his neck.  “But I still get invites to tea parties.”  which he always attended.

As Kyo was doing that, he grabbed his wallet then headed outside.  He could see from the corner of his eyes he saw their kiss.  He sat on the porch and slipped on his shoes.  “I’m ready.”  He jumped up then glanced over at him.  “Where to?”

Edgeworth: And the prosecution has plenty to show of it. If you must know, these photos are all property of the Traffic & Public Infrastructure Department, taken by security cameras along the streets of Kamurocho. There has been no room for tampering of the evidence.

Judge: Hmm... Very well. And in light of the evidence, how does the defendant plead?

Kiryu: Not guilty, Your Honor! I swear I've never killed anyone!

Edgeworth: Bah. How can you possibly deny the facts? Surely, you can admit to being present in these numerous incidents of pedestrians being thrown from 3 stories up, off bridges, into railings... Not to mention, destruction of various shop signs and vehicles parked along the street!

Kiryu: W-well, they were available... and no one complained...

Phoenix: Objection!

Edgeworth: Hm?

Phoenix: Sorry, Mr. Edgeworth, but none of the photos you've presented can be valid in this case.

Edgeworth: What?

Phoenix: Because... none of these incidents ever took place in a cutscene, and therefore are not part of the canon timeline!!

*gasps all around*

Edgeworth: W-what are you even...?

Judge: Hmm... Mr. Edgeworth, I'm afraid the defense has a point. The Yakuza games are well known for telling their stories through cutscenes, rather than the interactive brawls.

Phoenix: Anyone who's played through a Yakuza game would know.

Kiryu: Yeah, it's weird. I don't remember any of those moments.

Edgeworth: ...Are you kidding me right now.

Phoenix: You'll have to try harder than that, Edgeworth!

Edgeworth: Well then... how about that one cutscene from Yakuza 0, where he was very clearly given a gun to fire at pursuing-

Phoenix: Edgeworth! Those are spoilers!

Edgeworth: It's pertinent information! How else do you expect me to present my case!?

Phoenix: In any case, we never saw the bodies. It's entirely possible none of those people died!

Edgeworth: Even if we ignore all the vehicles on the road that crashed and burned, a helicopter crashed into the highway and exploded with the people still inside. How are they not dead?

Phoenix: I dunno. But they're not confirmed deaths.

Judge: Say, wasn't the chase scene itself part of the gameplay and not the cutscenes?

Phoenix: Precisely, Your Honor. I see you're quite informed.

Judge: Oh, my grandson absolutely loves these games. He's even gotten me hooked! I can't wait for the 6th one to-
