Hi, it's me again! (I hope I don't bother) I finally calmed down enough from last time's nonsensical yapping to remember what I meant to ask. Feel free to ignore if you don't wanna answer yet or at all, I just got curious about a few things.

in one of your posts there was a mention that Graves got his burns from being burned by Sheperd to tie up loose ends, and that the events of MWII would have been different with Jax around.

Do you know how different it'd be? In broadstrokes or fanfic-level details? I just got super curious about it, does that mean Graves would make different choices because Jax is around? Or Jax helps Graves go through it without digging his own grave? I love when OCs change the course of events of canon material so that mention got my attention. Again, no need to answer if you dont feel like it o/

I saw Jax has quite the burn mark on his stomach too. Did he get that from saving Graves from that fire, or is it an unrelated wound?

and my last question, how did Jax and Graves meet and/or how did they fall in love? If you already answered this one in a previous post then I haven't found it yet sorry ><

Hellooo! I can't remember if I've said it before or buried it in tags somewhere but basically the later half of the MWII just straight up doesn't happen 💀 Graves leaves mexico shortly after the dark water mission which is when he meets with Shepherd to clear the air and let out his grievances but it doesn't go well for him 😅

He definitely does make different choices because of Jax and has significantly more to lose if he kept following Shepherd's orders because I will be on the "Graves was manipulated by Shepherd" hill until I die. Especially cause at that point, he and Jax have known each other and worked very closely with each other for a few years now, with Jax being involved with Shadow Company despite not even being a Shadow as well Graves basically gets torn between saving his own skin and doing the right/hard thing and it takes Shepherd telling him to kill the 141 to finally make a real decision and stand his ground

And then MWIII basically becomes about hunting down the Konni (and Shepherd) where they then uncover the whole Konni infiltration instead of whatever the hell the actual game was about

As for Jax's burn, it's completely unrelated kjsdgkjbsdkj he got that during his time in the army when he got exploded 💔 but hey, it's just another thing he and Graves can match over

For how they meet, it's sometime after the Armistice initiative gets dissolved after the MW19 events. Alex sends Jax some intel about suspicious shipments coming in and out of Urzikstan and it turns out that a small cell of Barkov loyalists are trying to restart the chlorine gas productions again. Jax tells Laswell, who then tells Shepherd and they hire Shadow Company to go overseas to help Farah and Alex, and Jax is put in charge of the entire mission (on the US side)

They chase the trail until nothing else substantial comes up inside Urzikstan, and they get lead towards Russia instead. Farah and Alex stay behind as Jax and Graves get the green light to do some digging and they meet up with Kamarov. It's a lot more waiting and sniffing out dead trails but they do uncover a couple hidden bunkers with gas left over and they destroy those (all this takes about a year ish??)

They get to go home afterwards, and then a while later, Laswell gets Graves' help again because they're trying to lure general Ghorbrani into a trap. One of his close officials frequents a casino so Graves and Jax get to go infiltrate it and set up a (fake) arms deal for Ghorbrani. Graves poses as an arms dealer that the CIA have been setting up for years, and Jax is the security and intelligence guy, and then MWII starts

A lot of yapping sorry 💀 On the falling in love front, it's definitely because they've spent so much time together, in close proximity and even down time. Jax spends a couple years watching Graves' back and providing general overwatch since he doesn't do any real field work, it would be hard to not get attached in some way, especially if you end up knowing the other person better than you know yourself.

Jax (and Laswell) realized he was in love wayyyy sooner than Graves and Jax didn't do anything about it cause why risk potentially ruining their friendship? They already work really well together. It was sometime during their stay in Urzikstan, Alex and Jax took some time off to hit the town and do a little bar crawl and the conversation ends up leaning to Shadow and Graves, Jax starts yapping and Alex just gives him The Look

Graves doesn't realize until they go back to the states after Urikstan, I made a little render of it a while back skgjdb. He thinks it's nothing serious and it'll pass, but right after the hindsight mission, when Shepherd says they're burying the whole thing and the thought of having to lie to Jax for god knows how long makes him feel like ripping his chest open. Especially cause Shadows he was close with died and there was nothing Graves could do 🙃

Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in

no but really, I think it fits him really well! I had thought his UM would probably involve something kinda sleight-of-handy or pickpockety! and I looooved that it made such a nice loop-around back to episode 1. ❤️ I was. kind of half-expecting him to just run out and punch Riddle in the nose again. but instead this time 'twas he who offed the queen's head! it was great! and he did it while stone-cold terrified out of his mind! because Ace is the only remotely normal or well-adjusted person at NRC and therefore the only one who is like "we're going to literally die, this is super effed up". but he did it anyway!!!! I AM SO PROUD

how genderbending the warriors (2024) is done not for the sole sake of "bad-assery"

okay here we go feminist ramble time for our newest chick on the block: warriors. now i'll be honest, prior to listening to the album, when i first heard that the warriors main girls were originally dudes in the movie and the novel, i thought that the decision for the genderbending, in lmm's perspective, were from the following: 1.) girl power move in like a very basic meaning of the word "bad-ass" 2.) simply a twist on a cult movie about big gang bros loved by the film bros, and 3.) a way to have the schuyler sisters back together gjfkdfldf

but when i read more about warriors and its development and how lmm took inspiration from the gamergate controversies of 2014-2015 aka among the peak of gamerbro misogyny campaigns, that's when i realized that Oh Shit Is Serious - because adapting a story about a group being framed and targeted and harassed for something they are accused of doing without any substantial proof other than a man screaming "THE WARRIORS SHOT CYYYYRUUS" with 21st century misogyny campaigns in mind makes the theme of fighting back a lot more complicated and a lot more resonant, going beyond just marketing a cast you can call "badass"

take the hurricanes' quiet girls, for example. the hurricanes (concept album version) is the only gang that lets the warriors off the hook and with a stern warning: quiet girls don't make it home. here, the hurricanes berate the warriors for not saying shit or attempting to defend themselves from accusations they know well aren't true. THIS MESSAGE IN PARTICULAR is what stays and influences ajax, fox, and swan til the very end of their stories.

literally one song after this does ajax show how easily she resonated with the hurricanes' lesson by finally sticking with her gut and actually choosing to fight back against both the baseball furies AND against the sleazy undercover cop. the latter encounter is one of the instances that really solidifies the recontextualization of the story because in the OG movie, ajax (a dude) WAS the sleazy fuck up harassing a woman in a park - and now with the literal character switch, ajax goes from being just a rebellious gangbro dude bro into someone whose want to fight is warranted. such a want to fight is seen in fox seeing as fox is the first to comment on the quiet girls scene and that, in the concept album, she is the one that instigates the rumble against the police in union square - saying that she is sick of being afraid of them and their 'fuckin powder blue' colors (also notice how she is the only warrior that really does say fuck the cops i think that's cool BUT I'LL TALK ABOUT FOX MORE NEXT TIME)

to a less obvious extent, swan also gets the receiving end of this recurring theme - by the album's finale, the usually violence-averse caution-first interim leader becomes a lot fiercer in protecting her crew. but perhaps among what i consider to be the biggest recontextualized change in the feminist sense is MERCY and her motivations to join the warriors in the first place. according to the wiki, her attraction to swan and the warriors and um seeing the orphans as wimps is what led her to switch sides BUT IN THE CONCEPT ALBUM, mercy's motivation to become a warrior is deepened, rooted in admiration rather than attraction - wanting to be like those women who hold their head up high. and again, we see this in Sick of Runnin' when she takes part in the rumble, finding her bravery within their ranks as they fight back. here, mercy becomes less of a swan tagalong and more of someone that wants what the warriors have: pride.

of course now that i type this out i realize that warriors is not based solely on the feminist rhetoric as with their theme of hope amidst adversity, the story is more intersectional and rooted in community struggle and wanting for more than that. but nonetheless, i genuinely believe that the twt filmbros arguments on why the genders should not have been changed in the first place just for "woke" points is kinda like,,,very shortsighted because not only does the narrative of women narrowly escaping unwarranted accusations actually fucking fit, but the act of learning to fight back amidst all odds - be it that of disbelieving, predatory men or the power of oppressive pigs - stays resonant for women yesterday, today, and the days to come.

ultimately, warriors (2024) is not solely a tale of female badassery - rather, it is a tale of the need for such "female badassery" in the face of past and present realities, which is why it somehow fucking worked.

Black Butler Amino, Black Arts Magazine - Holiday Party

Here's a big post of some of my doodles of [Cap'n and crew] that I haven't posted yet! Couple are comics, couple are shitposts, you know how it goes.

(Also have some extra character tidbits beneath the cut!)

Cap'n (she/they) has become a Spongebob-adjacent "married to the job" type with sprinklings of "they are not immune to rose-tinted Company propaganda". Cartoonishly loyal to work, she's more upset about lying to the boss about her condition over actually becoming a monster on work time (though she isn't particularly a fan of being a monster, either).

Skeets (she/her) was already implied to be pretty optimistic and curious, but I've doubled down on this. She's constantly curious about entities and the state of her co-workers, asking questions and absorbing new information. She's also extremely lucky when it comes to encountering entities.

Mav (she/him), as implied by her nearly leaving Cap'n behind in the first comic, has become a "I won't hesitate, bitch" bitch. Split second decisions aren't an issue for her, she WILL shoot first and ask questions later. (She also now has a gambling addiction, haha. LOVES betting credits on things)

Kid (he/him) is now Irish. I will not elaborate. He's kind of literally the same otherwise. He's also in major inherited debt because of a Company-caused clerical error, but don't worry about it.

Uh. That's about it, I suppose!
