11-3 Rin’s Final Statement
[Click]
[Electronic hum underlies recording]
{Callie}
Hello, and welcome to this episode of Secrets of Everwich. I’m here with Rin again, to get her full statement of the case.
{Rin}
Hi.
{Callie}
Can you start at the beginning, and tell me everything that happened up until now?
{Rin}
Okay, I guess. Start of the month, Emilia didn’t come into school. We had a chemistry test that day, and I knew something was up, because I’ll be damned if Em’s ever missed a chem test. She loves chemistry. I think I called her? I don’t remember at this point, to be honest. Either way, I remember being really worried because she didn’t really talk to me that much that day.
The next day was my birthday. Ash surprised me by calling me over to his house, I thought they needed help with something, but then Xavier and Em were there too, and they’d set up a surprise party for me. It was nice. But Em didn’t really talk to me, or anyone else. We then went round to this place-
{Callie}
For the record, we are currently in Everwich Manor. Sorry, continue.
{Rin}
Yeah. Everwich Manor. We went round to Everwich Manor, to see the show tour, because… I don’t really know why Ash wanted to bring me to it, to be honest.
[Laughter]
We were in the queue, and Em really didn’t say anything, didn’t look at us. I noted that she was looking pale, and she just kind of shrugged and said- Oh what did she say? Something like ‘It’s nothing’, or something. I dunno, whatever she said it felt different.
X and Ash walked off, so it was just me and Em. I have to say, it was… Kinda awkward. She didn’t say anything, barely responded to me. I was getting really worried to be honest. It was interesting- You know, you’re really good at the tours.
Oh… Thank you! Continue, continue!
{Callie}
{Rin}
We got to the end of the tour, and we stood around looking for Ash and X, and Ash appeared from somewhere else. I knew something was up. He’s my best friend, I’ve known them since we were kids, I know when something’s up. But he shrugged, and X appeared, and we left to go back to Ash’s place. Well, just me and Ash. Em just kind of disappeared, and X said he had to do a tour.
The next week or so- Few weeks? I don’t remember at this point. This whole month has been… Weird, to be honest. But, I kept seeing Em acting weird. As I said before, she was in the girl’s bathroom a lot working on some kind of experiment. This one girl, Abby, came up to me and that Em was doing some kinda weird chem experiment in the bathroom. I remember running to see what it was, cause I’d been looking for her anyway. She hadn’t been sat with me, Ash and X. If she’s not sat with me and the others, she’s in the chem lab, or the library. But she wasn’t.
I then went to see my grandfather. Well, my dad and Jamie’s mum made me, and my siblings. Jamie was showing off- What was she showing off? Some awful singing or something, and Grandpa took me to the side to show me his old journal. It wasn’t until he said that he knew something was wrong with the town that I started listening. I had a flick through and got to the page about his friends acting weird. I was really shocked, to be honest. It was the same as how Em had been acting.
So, I called Ash and they said that he would get bored, but to tell you, so, you did, and… Well, you’ve got it on tape how that went. I thought everything was fine. Em was acting normal again. I… I thought it was okay.
Then Ash came running, crying. Saying Em and X were going out. They’d been spending a bit more time together than normal, but… It was weird. Normally it’s me coming to Ash in a moment of crisis. I’d never seen him like that. They were… Really upset. I dunno, even I felt annoyed that Em and X were together. Maybe it’s cause they didn’t tell me. So, I told Ash that I’d always be on his side. It was scary, to be honest. The thought our friend group would split that much so close to our exams.
Ash eventually went home, and I woke up to a phone call.
[Rin’s voice sounds like it’s trembling]
Em had…
{Callie}
It’s okay, I know. You don’t need to say.
{Rin}
No, I- I know she’s okay now. [Sniffing] She’d tried to kill the spider. It had got back on her. I don’t even know how. I thought we’d gotten rid of it. I didn’t know it was the spider though.
I dunno, I don’t remember much of what happened next. I just felt so numb. I couldn’t think properly. Jamie’s mum told me to take her to school, but I didn’t even get as far as the playground. I just left her there. It was like my body was moving without me meaning to.
And then Ash was there, and he grounded me. Told me everything was okay. Told me Em was alive. Told me it was the spider again. God, I don’t know where I’d be without Ash. He told me everyone was in Everwich Manor, and that Jamie was in the playpark, she’d been there all day. I felt awful for just leaving her. And then we came back here.
[Rustling]
{Callie}
Thank you for telling me this. It’s really useful, getting a full picture of the ‘case’. If there’s anything else, just let me know, but in the meantime can you go and get X?
{Rin}
Okay.
[Rustling]
{Callie}
Hey, I like your new hair! It really suits you that short.
{Rin}
Oh. Thanks. It was… An accident. I need to get Ash to help me even it out. God, Jamie’s mum’s gonna have a field day telling me about how I’ve ruined my hair again.
{Callie}
It looks nice.
[A pause]
[Door opening]
[Door closing]
I hope Emilia wakes up soon. I’d like to get a statement from her. I hope she’s okay. In the meantime, I’m going to get a statement from X.

Yandere dr.malpractice headcannons?
Dr.Malpractice Yandere Headcannons
WARNINGS: yandere, murder, the SLIGHTEST of manipulation/gaslighting,
this to request
OMG I WAS THINKING OF THIS THE OTHER DAY. is this your way of getting me to write simpbur? cause it is WORKING. I made him rather sweet though, like, he doesn't kidnap reader anything. just kills.
How you'd meet Wilbur, I guess:
It was just a normal Monday for you. you went to work, went to the local coffee shop, and drove home.
The regular stuff.
But, To your surprise, that would all change.
Now insert Wilbur. You had a lil crush on him he was cute... He stopped by your workplace every now and then.
He had his quirks though, like how he would act a bit shy around you, even a bit embarrassed
He said something about having a lab when you brought up his work.
"So...Where do you work? In the building?" You smiled at Wilbur, before handing him a box with glass tubes inside. "Oh-Uh, I work in a lab. I'm a scientist,if you will." He smiled back you, before quickly walking off with the box you handed to him. "Bye Wilbur, See you tomorrow!" You waved goodbye to him before he opened the office door and waved goodbye back.
You both started to get to now each other better, became close friends.
He still was a bit awkward around you, but that's what kept you around.
He'd invite you over to his house plenty.
Wilbur eventually told you about his feeling, and if course you said yes!
But he made you an offer, an offer that would change everything.
"Do you wanna be my test subject? I understand if it sounds weird--" he looked down, avoiding eye contact. "Depends, Whats the conditions?" You asked, smile on your face. You weren't expecting what would happen ahead of time.
You said yes, cause what's the worst that could happen?
How would it go from there?:
also your in wilbur's lab now, he said something about you staying there for awhile.
Rather smoothly.
I mean, you just come Into his lab for 2-3 days and he does test on you, it's nothing big.
But oh my god, he'd love every second of it.
Like, you would be cuddled up with him as he puts bandages on your scars.
He would literally be going insane, his face would be red, he'd be showering you with compliments, all the good stuff.
"What's the pink stuff do?" You asked, pointing to one of the tubes on the table next to you. "That's supposed to be some eyesight improving thing, Oh, but I'd never use that on you. Too much of a risk." He moved it to the corner of his table, and instead pulled out a cup of water and pills. "Those should help your immune system, darling." He handed you the pills and water, as you swallowed down the pills Wilbur was overjoyed, he always felt glad when you took literally anything he gave you.
He'd be so lovey Dovey...
He'd never get mad at you, instead opting to comfort you endlessly.
But yet, obsessive.
Like, he uses your least favorited co-workers as subjects for his rather... Unsafe injections...
Behind your back, of course.
It'd be awhile until you'd eventually figure out.
Wait, what if reader figured out about Wilbur's killings/torture?:
Pissed. Very pissed, at first!
It was quite the discussion when you first figured out.
"I'm sorry, this is too much to handle at the same time Wilbur!" You shouted at him, anger in your eyes. You just figured out about his little...killing problem. "Can we please just talk about this, I-I swear, I can explain everything love!" He watched as a tear fell from your face, it saddened him to see you like this. He hates seeing you upset, and knowing that he made you upset, only makes matters worse.
Eventually you made up. He never said he was going to stop what he was doing cause he was "Protecting you".
You came to terms with it, realizing there's not much you could even do about it other than report him to the police.
And why would you do that? You just couldn't.
So you both talked it out.
You knew he wouldn't stop killing people no matter what you said, so you let it happen.
"If you end up in jail, you do realize I cannot bail you out, right?" You smirked at him while fidgeting with your hair. You were both in the kitchen, wilbur was making dinner for you as you were sat at the counter. Wilbur turned, smirking back, "I'll find my way around it, no need to worry about me."
He surprisingly hasn't ended up in jail yet, he ends up framing someone else for his killings. (That someone also being someone who wronged you.)
what would his love language be? would he like pda?:
Pda wise, yes.
He'd be very touchy, ever so touchy.
He'd leave kisses everywhere on your body while whispering sweet nothings.
And he'd do it in public to, planting little kisses on your head while at a restaurant.
"Wil- Wil! you can stop now!" You'd giggled while pushing Wilbur away from your face. "But I'm just trying to love you! What's so wrong with that?" He'd giggled back, pulling your hand away from his face, leaning towards you with his big dorky smile. He'd plant a messy kiss on your cheek.
As for love language, he'd sent you text messages telling you how much he loves you, the things he'd do, all that cute stuff.
What if he sent love letters? Think about it.
"You know, I have 5 finished love letters that I was too scared to send you when we first talked." You turned your head over to him as he was smiling at you. "Really? That's so cute-- you HAVE to show me them." You grabbed his hands and squeezed them, big grin on your face. Wilbur sighed a smiled, "I'll find the time to show you, one day."
(probably gonna add more into this,but...just thought I'd post this now <3)

It’s Been a Long, Long Time | Ch 6
Summary:  When HYDRA had their prized asset, the Winter Soldier, they did something no one ever thought was possible: they gave super soldier serum to an omega. With the sole purpose of tending to him during his ruts, she spends decades living in HYDRA facilities, denied her humanity and her life. Now, years later, Bucky Barnes has his mind and his own life back...and the last thing he ever expects is to see a familiar omega again. Bucky/OC, a little angsty but mostly smutty/fluffy/romantic!
Part One | ... | Part Five | Part Six | Part Seven

Bucky refused to leave the omega’s side while she stayed in the lab. Bruce had to stop him from trying to crawl onto the bed with her, and after about the third time, he convinced the super soldier to just pull up a chair like a civilized person and hold her hand while she drifted off to sleep again. Now that she was with her alpha, she had settled down for another nap, more interested in resting than answering any more questions so long as Bucky stayed and kept an eye on her.
Steve had to admit, it was endearing. He had never seen his friend so absolutely enraptured like this. Whenever the omega, or Ten, as Bruce was still calling her, shifted in her sleep, Bucky’s eyes were snapping over to make sure that she was okay. Whenever she let out a little whimper, he was purring and stroking her hair. Whenever she seemed like she might wake up again, his attention was completely on her.
“So...sure you don’t remember her?” Steve asked, pulling up a chair. He had left for a few hours to work out, and after a lack of updates from FRIDAY, he headed back down to check on everything. They were exactly as he had left them, which was a good sign. At least nothing was getting out of hand.
Yet.
Bucky shrugged, rubbing the back of the omega’s hand with his thumb. “I dunno. It’s...foggy.”
“Well, it seems to me like you’ve either got a history together, or she’s mistaking you for someone else.” Steve said. “Quite frankly, it’s hard to do the latter.”
“I’ve dreamt of her.” Bucky said quietly.
“...what?”
“It’s not much, but...I’ve seen her face.” Bucky looked down at her. “I think that no matter how many times HYDRA wiped my memory, she’s always been in there. Kinda like the one constant that was always around, the one thing I could always count on being in the base with me.”
“Why didn’t you ever tell me?” Steve asked.
“Never knew if she was real or not.” Bucky sighed. “I thought...maybe she was just something my mind made up to fill some of the gaps. But she smells exactly like I remember.”
Steve sat back in his chair, his arms crossed over his chest as he watched his friend. Bucky wasn’t snarling anymore, most of his attention trained on the omega while she slept. Now that he was close to her, he had calmed down significantly, though he still wouldn’t let Steve within five feet of her bed.
“Just got off the phone with Tony,” Bruce announced, walking in. “He and Pepper will be back tonight. Pepper’s having some clothes and personal items delivered for our new omega friend here. They also asked about renovating a more permanent room for her, but I, uh...told them I wasn’t exactly sure what the situation would be.”
“She’s staying with me,” Bucky said immediately.
“Now hang on, hang on,” Steve leaned forward.
“Steve,” Bucky growled. “I want her with me.”
“Buck, you don’t even know her—“
Bucky interrupted him with a loud snarl, the omega in question whining and squirming in her sleep at the sound of it.
He immediately shut up, brushing a thumb over her cheek and shushing her until she was sleeping soundly again. Fuck, he felt so stupid. What was wrong with him? She could have woken up, or been scared, or upset, all because he couldn’t keep his big mouth shut. She needed her rest, and he needed to stay quiet.
Steve almost couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“Oh, Buck,” he shook his head. “You’re in deep.”
Amoretta woke feeling well rested, and it wasn’t until she tried to stretch and felt the tug of her IV drip that she remembered where she was. Opening her eyes revealed the bright lights of the lab, and as she started to sit up, a few faces came into view.
“Welcome back, Sleeping Beauty,” Bruce said. “How are you feelin’?”
She licked her lips. “Juice box. Now.”
“Way ahead of you. Had this one waiting as soon as you started waking up.” He tossed one to her and was pleased when her hand shot up to catch it. “Reflexes look good. Vitals are all reading normal. I’ll have to run another test to see what’s going on with those suppressants, but I’m willing to bet you’re metabolizing them fairly quickly now. How are you feeling?”
She pulled the little straw off the back of the carton and jammed it into the top. “Nauseous. Like usual.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Side effect of the suppressants?”
“Always has been. Other than that...I feel great, actually.”
“Well, as soon as these wear off, we can figure out something nicer and more modern for you. If you want to use them, I mean.” Bruce shrugged. “Your choice.”
She smiled. “Choice. I like that.”
“Hey, we’re all about independence here,” Steve said happily. He was glad to see she was awake, even though Bucky wasn’t.
The other alpha was still at her side, but, as of about half an hour ago, he was napping. Steve made a mental note to never let him forget the way he slept straight through the one moment he had been waiting for all day.
“What time is it?” She asked. “There’s no windows in this damn place.”
“Just after dinner,” Bruce chuckled. “You slept most of the day. Bucky hasn’t left your side.”
She looked over to her soldier, smiling warmly at the sight of him sleeping. He was even snoring softly. “I haven’t gotten to see this in forty years.”
“Did you two, uh…” Steve cleared his throat. “Spend a lot of time together?”
The omega laughed. “You always this awkward around girls?”
“That’s not—“
“Relax, I’m just giving you a hard time.” She sucked on her straw. “But...yeah, we did.”
“So...you were just kept for his ruts, or…” Steve was so awkward it was almost endearing. “I’m sorry, that came out wrong. I think.”
“It’s okay. I know my lot in life.” She kept her eyes trained on Bucky as she spoke. “But if I’m going to answer more questions, I want to get out of this bed. And I want real clothes. Then I’ll talk.”
And so, only several minutes later, Bruce was handing her a sweater and some shorts he had grabbed from a little stash of extra clothing, and Bucky was startled awake by Ten stepping past him. She was finally free from all the tubes and cords that had been sticking out of her during her little hospital stay, and she was all too eager now to explore the tower.
She stood on wobbly legs, almost falling onto him when she tried to take a step. Bucky was up in a flash, ready to catch her, and as she fell against his chest, he wrapped his arms around her. Despite just waking up, he felt fully alert, completely ready to tend to his omega’s every need.
His omega...he liked that train of thought.
“We can head up to the common area. It should still be quiet.” Steve said, leading the way out.
Bucky kept an arm around his omega’s waist as they followed, Bruce bringing up the rear. He wanted to be touching her at all times, constantly in contact so that he couldn’t lose track of her. His instincts were roaring to life, demanding that he do everything in his power to make sure that she was safe and in his line of sight. The elevator ride was tense and full of possessive growling, Bucky constantly shoving Ten behind him to keep her in the corner and as far away from Steve as possible, and everyone breathed a sigh of relief when the doors slid open and they could step out of the cramped space again.
The common area was empty, thankfully, FRIDAY informing them that the other Avengers were all either working out or in their private quarters.
“Good,” Steve said, heading towards the couches. “No interruptions. Got it, FRIDAY?”
“Understood, Captain Rogers.”
“C’mere,” Bucky mumbled, pulling his omega down to sit on one of the couches with him. Part of him was feeling a little sheepish and self conscious of his behavior...but the rest of him didn’t give a shit. The others could stare and shake their heads all they wanted, but he’d be damned if he let Ten slip through his fingers again.
Or whatever her name was.
Steve and Bruce sat across from them, making sure that they left as much space as possible between themselves and the new omega. Neither of them had ever seen Bucky behaving quite like this--he was on guard, hyper aware of everything around him. He made sure that she was pressed up against his side, an arm draped possessively over the back of the couch so that it was unmistakable that she was with him.
Christ, what had gotten into him? He couldn’t remember ever acting this way about an omega before.
“So…” Steve cleared his throat, sitting with his elbows resting on his knees.
Bucky didn’t really like the way his posture made him lean forward towards his omega, but he could deal with it for now. “So.”
“What do you wanna know?” Ten asked, plucking at Bucky’s shirt. She seemed to be even clingier with him than he was with her, perfectly happy to be hanging off him or tucked up against his side. “You met my demands. I guess I’m an open book now.”
“I don’t want to overstep my bounds,” Steve said. “We just need to know as much as you’re willing to share.”
“Then ask a question.”
“...Alright.” he cleared his throat again. “You said HYDRA used you to help with Bucky’s ruts?”
Ten nodded, her expression remaining even and cool.
“Could you tell us more about that?” Steve glanced at Bucky. “Were there ever any other omegas, or anyone we should know about?”
“There were omegas before me.” she answered. “When I first got to the compound, there were a lot of us. They kept us all in big cells, so everyone talked. People said things about how HYDRA was grabbing omegas off the street for their super soldiers, and how the one at our base was the biggest and scariest.”
Bruce raised an eyebrow at her tone. He wasn’t exactly sure what he expected her to sound like while she regaled them with her life story, but he definitely thought there would be a tad bit more apprehension in her voice. She seemed proud of herself, and more matter-of-fact than a lot of omegas would be while talking about their alpha’s previous partners. Or...whatever you called prisoners whose only purpose was to help during ruts.
“And I bet he was,” she sighed, leaning her cheek on Bucky’s chest and looking up at him adoringly.
“Well, I don’t know about that…” Bucky said, an almost shy smile on his lips. And...was he actually blushing?
Steve was going to lose his mind.
“You said the other omegas couldn’t handle it? That’s why you were given the serum?” he prompted, trying to keep them on track before he drowned in the sticky sweetness of her happy pheromones.
“Right.” she turned her attention back to Steve and Bucky let out a quiet huff. “HYDRA didn’t really like to take care of us. And the soldier--I mean, Bucky--would wear them out. So...HYDRA would just kind of let them go. Or put them down, maybe. I never saw it.”
Bucky’s expression dropped. His blush was gone, and he almost looked like he was going to be sick as he listened to her talk.
“But it wasn’t his fault,” she said quickly, glancing between him and Steve. “I don’t think it was ever on purpose, you were just...demanding.”
He gave a groan, leaning his head back against the couch. “You don’t have to sugarcoat it, doll. I’d rather know what I did, at this point.”
She offered a small shrug. “I don’t really remember it being that bad, but I don’t think I ever met you before they gave me the serum.”
“That’s something, at least.” he mumbled, dragging a hand down his face.
“Why you?” Steve asked. “Did you have any prior military experience, any ties to something the others didn’t?”
“No.” she laughed. “I never even got in fights before HYDRA.”
“Then why’d they use such an important resource on you, specifically? Not trying to take a dig at you, it’s just...well, omegas don’t usually…”
“I know,” she said. “Omegas aren’t supposed to be tough, right? That’s why they only ever let alphas become super soldiers.”
“That’s not what I…” Steve trailed off and then sighed. “Sorry.”
“I told you, they gave me the serum so that I would be strong enough to hold my own. It also ensured I would always be around, no matter how many years passed.” Her fingers found Bucky’s free hand and she took it, absentmindedly playing with the smooth vibranium knuckles. “Having me as a constant meant they could stop spending so much time and effort on always having a new omega around for him. Plus…well, I wasn’t really there, but I heard something about it once…”
“What?” Bucky asked.
“They let you choose who was going to become your omega.” She said, looking up at him. “They gave you a bunch of scents, and you chose mine. I guess it was the only reason they didn’t, uh...humanely euthanize me.”
His eyes were wide. The thought of HYDRA killing his omega brought a low growl to his throat, his chest rumbling with the vibrations of it. “No.”
“Well, clearly they didn’t!” She said brightly. “My file said I was a kicker.”
“So they gave you, an already aggressive omega, the serum, but never gave you any trigger words or fished around in your brain?” Bruce shook his head. “Surprisingly sloppy, considering who they are.”
“It’s not like they ever sent me out into the world. I stayed in my cell all day, unless I was needed for a rut. Then I went and stayed in a different cell.” She sighed. “And if they ever needed to, they could just use the alpha to grab me.”
Bucky clearly didn’t like the thought of that. He made a frustrated sound, leaning his head back again. “Great.”
“It was never bad.” She let go of his hand, moving her fingers to cup his jaw. “You never hurt me. You wouldn’t. Sometimes, when I acted up, they would make you go retrieve me, because they knew you were the only one who could do it. If they didn’t send you, they would just knock me out.”
“So...that was it?” Steve asked. “Ruts, serum, cryo?”
“For thirty years!” She chirped. “The last time they froze me, they were freezing him, too. They always tried to keep us in cryo at the same time so that I could be thawed out and ready when he needed me. But...I guess they just...left me there?” She frowned.
“See, that’s what I’ve been trying to figure out.” Steve said. “I didn’t see any signs of a struggle at that base. I’d say they left in an orderly fashion, but the fact that they didn’t take you along makes me think they were in more of a hurry than they made it seem.”
“Natasha might have a better idea,” Bruce suggested. “We can talk to her, try to figure out—“
“FRIDAY, open the damn door or so help me God I will rewrite your entire personality.” A voice interrupted from the other side of the door.
“I’m sorry, Tony, but Captain Rogers asked me not to.” The AI said.
“Well, is it an emergency?” The man scoffed.
“No emergency measures have been executed. No security breaches have been identified.”
“Then I’m sorry, but Captain Rogers does not outrank me when it comes to my own robots. Open the door, beautiful.”
She seemed to sigh. “Very well, Mr. Stark.”
Ten perked up, leaning forward slightly. She was watching the door curiously, tilting her head a little when she heard it slide open. Bucky rolled his eyes, grumbling to himself quietly and pulling her up against his side as another alpha strode in.
“Really? Having a party without me?” the man asked, a smooth, casual air about him as he walked in and looked at everyone on the couches. When his eyes landed on the omega cuddled up next to Bucky, he stopped. “Ah, is this our new guest?”
“Go away, Stark.” Bucky growled. He didn’t like how long the other man’s gaze was lingering on his omega, not when there weren’t any scars on her neck to show who she belonged to.
“Always such a charmer, Barnes.” Tony said, flopping down next to Steve. “Lovely to see you, too. Care to introduce me to your friend? ….No, you’d rather just snarl and forget your words? I knew you were old, but I didn’t realize you were actually a caveman.”
“Tony,” Bruce groaned. “Don’t aggravate him. Please.”
“Why not?” Tony leaned back against the cushions, completely at ease and totally happy to be pressing every one of Bucky’s buttons.
“Are you Tony Stark?” Ten asked, wiggling out of Bucky’s grip to sit on the edge of their couch.
Bucky caught her around the waist before she could get very far, though, and dragged her onto his lap. He loomed over her, sneering dangerously at Tony as the other alpha flashed a smile.
“Bingo.” he said.
“I never thought I’d meet a Stark,” she admitted. “I always heard about Stark Industries, but I lived too far away from any big cities to ever get to see any of his exhibitions.”
“Ah. You’re from my father’s time. Of course.” Tony shot a pointed glare in Bucky’s direction. “Seems like Bruce left out a few teensy weensy important details on the phone today.”
“Well, it’s been, uh...an ongoing learning experience.” Bruce said sheepishly.
“Lots of developments, huh?” Tony raised an eyebrow.
“You could say that.” Steve said under his breath. “We came up here so Ten could be more comfortable while we talk.”
“Oh yeah? What’re we talkin’ about?” Tony asked.
“They were asking about my time with HYDRA,” she answered, cutting in before anyone else could. “And with...Bucky.”
Saying his name felt odd. Her tongue wasn’t used to it, and her mind wanted to call him alpha, or Winter Soldier. Bucky just seemed so…casual, such a strange thing to call a deadly super soldier. When she heard herself, though, she decided that she definitely didn’t hate it.
Bucky’s heart gave a little leap at the sound of his name falling from her lips. He wanted her to say it over and over again, in whispers and in screams, for nobody else’s ears but his.
“...Buck?” Steve asked, pulling him away from his thoughts. “You, uh, kinda zoned out there.”
It wasn’t until Bucky looked at Steve that he realized his eyes had been trained on the omega in his lap. “Yeah?”
“...Is this seriously how you’ve spent the past day and a half?” Tony asked. “Steve, I’m sorry, and I’m sure you’re just trying to be as helpful as you can be, like always, but I think you should let these two get a room.”
Steve looked at him incredulously. “Tony, really? I’m trying to get to the bottom of why exactly HYDRA would abandon the omega they pumped full of super soldier serum. They can get a room later—“
“Yeah, uh, wonder boy? I don’t think your pal is gonna last much longer before he tries to rip our heads off.” Tony nodded towards a very disgruntled Bucky. “You can resume your interrogation tomorrow, Cap.”
Steve looked to Bruce for help, but he only offered a small shrug and stood, heading towards the door. “He’s right, Steve. They deserve some alone time.”
“Buthey!” Steve protested as Bucky picked his omega up, striding past the two alphas sitting on the opposite couch.
“Thanks for everything, Steve.” Bucky said over his shoulder.
Ten squirmed, peeking around Bucky’s arm as she was carried away. “Bye, Mr. Stark!”
“Don’t look at him,” Bucky growled as they walked out the door.
“Did his father really make hoverboards? I heard once that Howard was promising hoverboards—“
“No.” He said flatly.
“...oh.” She huffed, slumping against him. “Where are we going?”
“My apartment.” Bucky stepped into the elevator, his grip still tight around her.
The omega perked up. “You have a whole apartment?”
He puffed his chest out a little. “Course I do. Gotta have a nice place for you, don’t I?”
“So I can stay?” Her eyes were bright and happy. “I can stay there, with you, all the time? Not just when you rut?”
He felt a sad little pang in his heart. When he spoke again, his voice was low and soft. “Of course, sweetheart.”
Then, his eyes widened as he realized what he was saying. “I mean, uh...i-if you want to, that is. I know it’s fast and all, and maybe...would you rather have your own room? Or I can stay on the couch—“
“Bucky,” she cut him off with a laugh, a soft hand cupping his jaw. “You’ve been my alpha for seventy years. I’d say we’re actually moving pretty slow.”
His expression relaxed again, lips stretching into a small smile. “Right. Yeah. You’re right.”
They spent the rest of the elevator ride in comfortable silence, Bucky rubbing his scent glands all over her hair. He wanted to make sure that the next time they encountered anyone else, she smelled exactly like him.
Like her alpha.
When the elevator came to a gentle stop at Bucky’s floor, the doors opened, and he stepped out in front of his apartment door. It opened for him, having already scanned his biometrics, revealing a small, but cozy, living room.
He set his omega down on her feet, watching anxiously as she stepped into his quarters. Did she like it? Fuck, was it too small? It was too small. She probably hated it. Fuck, fuck, fuck...he had to salvage this somehow.
“Well, uh…” shit, he sounded too nervous. He wanted her to think he was a strong, capable alpha.
He cleared his throat for another start. “Welcome home, Omega.”
Wait. That wasn’t right. Should he be calling her that? No, probably not, it sounded too possessive, too uncaring. He wished he just knew her fucking name, or something.
“I mean…Ten?”
Shit, he sounded so stupid. He wanted to impress her, not...do whatever this was.
She just laughed, though, turning and looking at him with those eyes that sparkled like starlight. “Amoretta. My name is Amoretta.”

Honey, I Shrunk Your Boyfriend
You went to Star Labs to see Cisco when he got shrunk.
Pairing: Reader x Cisco
Tumblr media
It had been the longest three days of your life. You’d been at a seminar out of town and you were so ready to be home with Cisco that when you were offered an earlier flight you’d jumped on it. Cisco had offered to breach you there and back but there was something you always liked about the hustle and bustle of airports. The only downside was that it put you back in Central City in the middle of the day meaning Cisco would still be at Star Labs. You told the taxi driver to take you to Star Labs and ignored the questioning look he gave you. You wanted to surprise your boyfriend as he wasn’t expecting you back until the next morning.
When the car pulled up outside the building, the driver turned to you and asked, “You sure this is the place, lady? You know this place is dangerous, right?” You resisted the urge to roll your eyes.
“I think I can handle it,” you said, handing the driver some cash and grabbing your overnight bag.
As you emerged from the elevator, you made a bee line for Cisco’s lab. You weren’t sure if he was in there, but you could stash your bag there until you went home. Upon entry, you didn’t see him right away.
“Cisco?” you called to be sure. Nothing. You tossed your bag in the corner and made to look for him elsewhere when you heard a tiny clatter. Swinging back around, you looked around the room and heard a tiny squeaking noise. You followed the sound further into the room and realized it was coming from the Lego set they’d used to map out Savatar and Iris last year.
Making your way over to it, you leaned down to find the source of the noise when you spotted Cisco. “Aw! Cisco made a little figurine of himself,” you said mostly to yourself.
“I’m not a figurine. It’s me!” he said, waving his arms. You jumped back a little. That had been the source of the squeaking noise.
“Cisco?” you asked in disbelief. This had to be one of his stupid pranks. “How?” you asked, still thinking it was a tiny robot or something.
“I got shrunk by a meta,” he said, scrubbing his hands over his face.
You let that information sink in before letting your heard fall down, your hair obscuring your face.
Cisco panicked thinking you were upset. “It’s fine, babe. Harry and Caitlin are on it. I’ll be back to normal in no time,” he’d said hastily in his new high pitched voice.
Your shoulders gave a jerk and he realized, “Oh my god! Are you laughing?” he demanded. This only sent you into a fit of uncontrollable giggles and you had to turn your back to him to try and compose yourself.
Once you were under control and able to keep a straight face again you turned around to find him looking extremely displeased. “I’m sorry, honey,” you said, placing an open hand in front of Cisco. He climbed on with a huff and you lifted him up. “You just look so cute like this.”
He huffed again and shook his head, “This is so humiliating,” he pushed his hair back before crossing his arms again.
“It’s like you said. Caitlin and Harry are on the case. You’ll be back to normal in no time,” you said reassuringly.
You heard footsteps behind you and turned to see Caitlin holding a tiny Ralph in her palm. “Ralph too?” you asked.
She looked startled for a moment then nodded. “When did you get back?” she asked.
“Just a few minutes ago. I caught an earlier flight and wanted to surprise this one, but nothing is more surprising than this,” you said, holding Cisco a little higher.
His arms were still crossed over his chest and you had to bite your lip to not laugh again. You and Caitlin set them both back on the Lego set together and stood back as they began to bicker.
“Give it to me straight,” you whispered. “What are the odds of getting this reversed?” You didn’t want to admit that this was really freaking you out inside. It wouldn’t do you or Cisco any good to show how worried you were.
Caitlin put an hand on your arm and steered you further into the room out of earshot. “Harry’s on it. This only happened a few hours ago. Don’t lose hope,” she assured, you nodded.
~
You kept Cisco and Ralph company while Harry and Caitlin came up with a solution. Cisco asked how the seminar went, and Ralph pretended to punch himself as you described the different panels.
“Don’t be rude to my girlfriend, Ralph,” Cisco snarked and you listened in amusement at their quarrel.
It wasn’t long before Harry came in with the modified speed force bazooka and you were concerned to say the least. “You haven’t tested that thing and now you’re going to shoot it at my boyfriend?” you asked incredulously.
Harry waved a hand dismissively and Cisco piped up offering himself up as a test subject.
“I can’t watch this,” you said, turning around with a hand over your eyes. You heard the tell tale buzzing sound of the machine and turned back around, peaking towards the lego set between your fingers. You watched as Cisco and Ralph both vibrated for a moment and stopped, both still very much small. You leveled a glare at Harry who avoided your gaze.
~
You paced in the cortex as Caitlin ran her tests and occasionally threw annoyed glances at the brooding man from Earth-2. When Caitlin came back and told you that Cisco was unstable you lost it on Harry. You rattled off a speech that ended with your index finger in the older man’s face and, “you’d better fix this,” as Iris pulled you out of the room. You took a moment to compose yourself before re-entering Cisco’s lab. You couldn’t ever hide your emotions from him though so he knew instantly that something was wrong.
“He made us unstable didn’t he?” Cisco asked. Your silence told him everything.
You sat in the chair next to the Lego set and propped your elbows on the table, smiling sadly as miniature Cisco put a tiny hand on your arm to comfort you even though you were here to comfort him.
It was some time later Harry came back with the solution to put Cisco and Ralph back in the line of fire to fix them. You didn’t like the idea, but it was apparently better than anything else they’d thought of.
“I’m coming with you,” you said quickly.
“No, no way,” Cisco protested, you swung around and glared at his tiny form. He sighed, “Babe, this guy is dangerous. Please, just let us fix this, and I will come home to you good as new. I can’t stand the idea of you getting hurt,” he pleaded and sounded so pathetic with his tiny squeaky voice that you gave in without a fight.
You lifted Cisco in your hand once more and let him kiss you on the cheek, it tickled more than anything, and passed him off to Harry. You set another glare at Harry knowing that your anger was slightly misplaced, but you were too worried about the outcome of all of this to care. Cisco looked up in amusement at the grimace on Harry’s face under your fiery gaze.
You were pacing a hole in the Star Labs concrete floor the entire time they were gone. More than once you’d almost changed your mind about staying back and went after them, but you knew there wasn’t much you could do except get in the way or get yourself hurt. You weren’t a meta and battles weren’t exactly in your wheelhouse. You tended to freeze in panic which had caused more than one occurrence of Barry or Cisco having to save your ass since you'd joined the team. You shook your head and paced some more and wondered what the hell could be taking so long.
You were in the cortex when you heard voices from the hall and turned to see Cisco in all his 5′7″ glory. You ran into his arms and he caught you with an exaggerated groan and a laugh, lifting you several inches off the ground. You spotted Harry over Cisco’s shoulder and mouthed a silent ‘thank you.’ The older man gave a nod.
~
Once the two of you were home, Cisco let you fuss over him as he told you how the battle went. You laughed when Cisco told the part about breaching into Harry’s pocket.
“When we got back to Star Labs, Harry made me walk in first. He thought if you saw him first you would assume mission failure and murder him on the spot,” he said in amusement, giving you a playful accusatory look.
“He wasn’t wrong,” you admitted. You then remembered why you’d been so mad at the older man and promptly smacked Cisco on the arm.
“Ow! What was that for?” he exclaimed, rubbing his bicep where you’d struck him.
“For letting Harry fire a weapon at you without testing it first,” you said sharply, crossing your arms over your chest.
Cisco’s face softened and he wrapped his arms around your waist. “I’m sorry,” he whispered, “I’m so sorry.” He kissed your forehead and then captured your lips.
You pulled away after several moments slightly out of breath. “Are you sure you’re okay?” you asked, feigning genuine concern, “Maybe I should double check.”
Cisco sighed, “Caitlin checked me over. I’m good, I promise,” he said, not getting it yet.
“Well,” you said, trailing a finger down his chest to the top of his waistband, “I don’t think she checked everything.”
Cisco’s mouth fell into an ‘oh.’ “Yeah, you better check that,” he said hastily, pulling you behind him. You laughed all the way to the bedroom.

pairing: doctor!sebastian stan x biomedical scientist!reader
warnings: none
> next chapter
Tumblr media
The coffee cup was laying neatly on his desk by the computer screen with surgeon-like precision. After years and years of studying, being an intern, and serving crazy, late or early rotas, Sebastian had got used to being the resident doctor. His routine, although unpredictable, had some sort of shape and one of the things he enjoyed doing was having his cup of coffee while looking at his first patient’s record before he could come in. Of course, like in every single job, there were unpredictable factors and for him it always seemed to be lack of test results in his record files.
    - Hey ... - he called out for one of the nurses who was passing by. She stopped by his door, poking her head in. - Where are the blood culture results from this patient?
    - The laboratory sent the samples back up. You’ll have to order a blood culture again.
    - Fucking hell ... - he mumbled to himself, throwing the file onto the table.
Of course, Sebastian never got to fully take his coffee. If he did, it normally meant she was on holiday. The biggest unpredictability of the job wasn’t the patients or the constant urgencies, no, the biggest unpredictability in his job was a woman. Not just every woman, no, a biomedical scientist in the microbiology department which always seemed to deny his tests or contest every medical opinion he had.
He sighed as he pressed the lift’s button to the laboratory floor. There was always an unseen line between the doctors, nurses and assistants on the upper floors and the laboratory staff on the lower floor. Doctors barely showed up in the laboratory yet again not all doctors had a biomedical scientist after them. Actually, no other doctor had a war with a biomedical scientist, just him. Lucky him.
   - Stan, put a lab coat on. - speaking of the devil. - Did they not tech you health and safety in med school?
   - It’s Dr. Stan. - he grudgingly grabbed the lab coat she has extended over to him, stopping him from getting any further into her department. She was right about that, but he wasn’t gonna give her that. - It’s 8 AM, are you already hiding from your responsibilities?
    - Where are my blood culture results, Y/N? I have a patient coming in 50 minutes and I can’t tell them what’s wrong with them.
    - That’s not my problem. - she turned around but he followed her still. - Will you please leave? I have work to do.
    - Oh really? Considering you haven’t given me the results, I’d think you just slack off the whole day here. - he sighed. - C’mon, Y/N.
   - I’m sorry, Dr. Stan but maybe you should instruct your nurses in what correct blood culture bottle to send the blood samples. If you suspected anaerobic bacteremia why did you sent it in an aerobic bottle? They’re dead, I cannot plate dead bacteria. Now if you please, I have work to do.
   - Did they or did you just lose the sample again?
   - Unlike you, Dr. Stan I do my job correctly. Now if you don’t mind, I have requests from Doctors who know what they’re doing.
Sebastian grumbled, taking the lab coat on tossing it onto the hook. Y/N grinned to herself as she returned to her microscope, mentally celebrating the fact she had once again managed to upset Dr. Stan. It wasn’t that he was a bad doctor, he wasn’t, he was just too lenient with his staff while Y/N was razor sharp focused on getting work done so whenever a sample came in bad state, unlike other department senior scientists, she’d just deny them and go do tests on good samples. That particular mindset resonated with her superiors but Dr. Stan enjoyed coming downstairs to give her an earful as if she could do something. Well, she could do something, she could go upstairs and train the staff herself but she wasn’t paid for that and it seriously was not her job to do so.
     - Dr. Stan, again? - Miriam, one of the scientists who had started around the same time as her and had experienced as many of their fights as there had been, sat by her side. - You two seriously need to fuck.
     - Miriam! - she widened her eyes, looking around to see if someone had heard them. - Why don’t you say it louder?
    - Listen when me and cute butt from haematology we’re feuding, we fucked it out during the Christmas party and look at us now ... - she smirked taking the necklace with her engagement ring from under her laboratory coat. - Besides, he is a doctor.
    - He’s too old. - she returned to inspecting the Gram slide under her microscope, but Miriam had other plans, turning off the light in her microscope.
    - He’s in his 30s. That’s a baby in doctor years besides you two are making everyone miserable.
    - I will make you miserable if you don’t start analysing the new samples.
Telling a patient he needed to give blood samples again sounded easy enough. After all, Sebastian had had a whole communication module during med school and almost ten years worth of experience yet nothing compared to listening to a patient yell at him before he even had lunch. Surely with the amount of times, Y/N had done this to him he would be used to it now but not when all he’d have was coffee. With a scowl on his face, he walked into the cafeteria. Damned Y/N, damned Y/N and her petty fighting.
    - Seb! - Dr. Mackie set his tray on his table. They’d done their residency together and he had even been present when he and Y/N had their first encounter and fight. - Word is you’ve already had your first fight with Y/N. What’d you do now?
    - I didn’t do anything. Blood came in the wrong bottle and she didn’t even try doing the test.
    - You’re whining, Stan.
    - Anyway, I’m glad you’re here. I have this patient, keeps complaining that he has an infection but there’s no markers.
    - Hey man, I specialised in tropical diseases. Probability is, it’s not that. Why don’t you ask Y/N? She’s a microbiologist and you love to go over to see her.
    - Really, Mackie?
    - You can ask someone else but you and Y/N like each other so much. Maybe she’ll give you a kiss if you get it right.
     - Thanks for nothing, Mackie.
     - Hey, maybe if you and her start dating, the upstairs and the downstairs people will finally have a peace alliance.
Back to the microbiology laboratory it was. He couldn’t even remember what the two of them had started bickering about, but he knew it was around the time she had first started at the hospital. It wasn’t that she wasn’t smart, god no, Sebastian knew she was smart and completely capable and probably the reason why she had become a senior scientist quite fast; however, she was extremely argumentative and whenever she had to assist in one of his cases, they always ended up arguing. To be honest, she did look quite adorable whenever she was fuming at him, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose and pointing aggressively at the results.
   - STAN! LAB COAT! - he was taken from his thought by the same woman throwing a laboratory coat on him. - I will report you to the board if you keep walking into my lab without a lab coat on.
   - I need your help.
   - Okay. - she opened one of the various drawers in the laboratory, taking three bottles and placing it on the table in front of her. - It’s very simple. Yellow for paediatric, red for anaerobic and green for aerobic. Paediatric means child, anaerobic means no air, and aerobic means air.
   - Seriously, Y/N? I know what it means.
   - Do you? - she cocked an eyebrow at him. - Don’t worry, we got the samples right these time. I have someone working overnight so you’ll have your precious results. Besides, it is probably negative. Looking at the sheet doesn’t really scream bacteremia. It might just be a localised infection which has the potential to become bacteremia. Unless it’s an AMR case, it’s probably no fuss.
    - Great. It’s not that I need help with though.
    - Can’t you do your own job, Dr. Stan?
    - 40 year old male, complaining of infection like symptoms but no markers. - he handed her the file which she skimmed through.
    - Did you check for CRP? White blood cell count?
    - White blood cell count is slightly high but not in a way which would really indicate an infection. Know of anything like that?
    - I can run some tests but I don’t really know. - she shrugged. - Have you asked Dr. Mackie? Patient been in any tropical locations?
    - He told me to ask you.
    - Aw so even he knows that you suck at being a doctor?
    - You know what, Y/N? You would be cute if you weren’t so argumentative.
    - Don’t try to butter me up, Dr. Stan. I will ask around my colleagues, see if anyone has any idea before dinner time and then I’ll let you know.
    - Are you asking me for dinner?
    - Yes, because having dinner in the green light cafetaria with you is totally my idea of romance. I mean, why  not take me here now in this table?
    - Now, Miss Y/L/N, that’s is against health and safety protocols. You should know.
    - Do they not teach you sarcasm in med school?
    - We’ll talk about it during our dinner date.
    - It is not a dinner date, I’m just giving you data.
    - It’s a date. I’m telling everyone.
    - Don’t you dare!

Coming Home
Tumblr media
Pairing: Leonard “Bones” McCoy x Reader. Other Characters: Captain Jim Kirk, Sulu, Uhura, Spock, Scotty, Nurse Chapel, Joanna McCoy and Jocelyn McCoy
Word Count: 6594
Warnings: A bit of angst as there usually is with exes, medical incident, topped off with fluff and a little implied smut.
Prompt: “Did you ever plan on telling me?”
Summary: Reader left Dr. McCoy and the Enterprise eight years ago for reasons unknown. Captain Kirk has decided to get her to come back, so he offers her a position in the ship’s Botany Department and Lab. How will her ex-boyfriend and CMO Dr. McCoy react to seeing her after all these years?
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Jim, I just don't think it's a good idea," you told him, shaking your head. Captain James T Kirk was in your apartment, trying to convince you to rejoin him on the USS Enterprise.
"Why not? It's been, what, eight years now? Surely he's forgiven you by now," Kirk replied.
"Even if he has, which I doubt, I haven't forgiven me yet. We haven't even spoken since I left. No, I can't come back, Jim. You need things to run smoothly on that ship of yours. I would only upset the applecart," you affirmed.
"Please? You're the best botanist in Starfleet, and we really need you. Sulu can bring you up to speed on all of his latest findings with the plants we've catalogued in the past few years. Besides, there are others who would be happy to see you return to the ship," Kirk pressed.
You bit your bottom lip in concentration. Jim could tell you were close to cracking under his persuasive argument. You missed your 'girl talk' sessions with Uhura, even though monthly subspace messages have kept you in touch. They just haven't been the same as being together in person. If you came back, you might even start a lively discussion with Spock on Vulcan vs. Human philosophy.
If you went back, you know Jim would make your return as smooth as possible. He was right, that others would be happy to see you again. However, there was at least one crew member that you were fairly certain would not share in everyone's enthusiasm at seeing you back on the Enterprise.
Dr. Leonard. McCoy.
The two of you had been in a relationship for about four years prior to your departure. You shared the same quarters, during which time you were blissfully happy and in love. Leonard was the light of your life, and you saw him in every scenario in your future. Marriage, family, retirement from active duty, maybe eventually a house somewhere.
All of that came crashing down the night of his daughter's birthday party, when Joanna was turning 13. Two weeks after it happened and without explanation, you left Leonard and the Enterprise.
You had no intention of ever returning to the ship. You were content in your teaching position at Starfleet HQ and to stay at home, maintaining your garden. That is, until a blonde-haired, blue-eyed captain came knocking on your door, asking you to come back.
"So?" Kirk asked.
"I'll need to pack a few things, make some arrangements," you sighed.
"Ship leaves here in five days, will that be enough time?" Kirk inquired.
"I suppose it'll have to be, won't it. You're not exactly leaving me with much choice," you retorted. "Don't worry, Jim. I'll be there, ready to assist you however I can," you promised. I just don't know if I'm ready to face him again, not after all these years that have gone by, you thought to yourself.
As if he heard you, Jim nudged your arm. "Maybe this is just the opportunity you two need, you know, to clear the air. Much as you may not think so, the two of you belong together," Jim concluded softly.
"I have a feeling that one way or another, the situation between Len and me will soon be resolved," you replied.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When you re-materialized on the transporter pad, you were surprised to see so many of your friends waiting to welcome you back. Sulu, Chekhov, Scotty, Uhura and even Spock had made the trip down to Transporter Room #3, along with the captain to await your return. The only one absent was Dr. McCoy, but you didn't expect him to show up. Not willingly anyway.
You stepped down from the transporter pad and were immediately engulfed in Uhura's embrace. She rambled on about when the first 'girl talk' night should be while you traded hugs with Sulu and Chekhov.
"Hello, Commander. It is agreeable to see you again," Spock greeted you.
"It's nice to see you, too, Spock," you smiled as you pulled him into a hug before he could stop you. "Mr. Scott, always a delight," you gushed.
"Aye, lassie, it's good to have ye home again," Scotty beamed.
"Thank you. It's good to be--" your greeting was interrupted by the transporter room doors sliding open. The moment of truth had finally arrived, where the next few words spoken would set the tone for the time to come.
"God in Heaven," McCoy whispered. His mouth suddenly went dry at seeing you again after eight years. He could see that the years had been kind to you, because to him, you were even more beautiful than before. His heart did a mini-flip in his chest, but almost immediately afterwards, his brain and his memory re-engaged.
McCoy coughed and cleared his throat in an effort to regain his composure. "Commander," he said gruffly, nodding his head sharply at you. "Jim, a word please?" he asked, then turned and left the transporter room without sparing you a second glance. Tears sprang to your eyes but did not fall.
"Excuse me, everyone," Kirk replied. As he passed by you, he caught your hand and squeezed lightly. "Don't worry, remember what I said about opportunities?" he asked and you nodded. "Don't waste 'em," he said with a wink.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"How could you do this, Jim? How could you allow her back on board after what happened between us? The woman I love broke my heart when she left me--the ship!" McCoy thundered.
"Well, Bones, let's start with the fact that we need someone to head the Botany Department and Lab, and she's the best. Then we'll fill in the middle with how I don't think either one of us knows exactly what happened to make her leave. And we'll end with, oh, because it's my ship, I'm the captain and if I say we need her, then she re-joins the crew," Kirk concluded.
"Fine. If that will be all, Captain?" McCoy replied, voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Yes, Bones, that will be all," Kirk responded. McCoy turned to leave when Kirk briefly called him back. "For what it's worth, you could look at this as an opportunity to clear the air between you. At least you'd know, once and for all why she left, instead of always assuming it's your fault."
McCoy mumbled something under his breath as he walked out of the captain's Ready Room. Kirk shook his head at his CMO's antics when it came to you. He knew the two of you still loved each other, and firmly believed that you belonged together.
Kirk wished he knew what happened all those years ago to make you think your only choice was to leave your family and the man you loved. Something told him that whatever it was, it was bound to come out into the open. Hopefully when it did and the dust settled, everything would return to some semblance of normal.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The first few weeks aboard ship were a bit awkward. You were trying to get used to a working schedule again, and on top of that, trying to avoid the CMO at every turn. It didn't help that you had mutual friends who didn't hesitate to offer their advice on how to resolve things. They all swore they only wanted what was best for you and the good doctor. However, only the two of you could decide what that looked like, and at least for now, that meant avoiding each other.
One day, you were in the lab, cataloguing plant samples gathered during an away mission to Taegus-3. You made sure your team was taking extra safety precautions when handling the samples. "Be careful around these plants, some may have thorns. We also don't know yet if they're poisonous, so for now, use the bio-suits and the thick rubber gloves."
You were walking through Station #2 where a member of your team was performing tests on one of the samples. The young ensign turned away from her station, while you made notes on your clipboard about the plant she was working with.
As you were asking her some questions about her work, you felt something snaking its way around your exposed forearm. By the time you realized what was happening, the plant had started to apply pressure to your now vine-wrapped arm. Sulu heard the commotion and rushed over with a knife, which he then used to cut the vine from your arm. The vine fell away, but left red burn marks in your arm wherever the vine had come into contact with the skin.
"You'd better head down to the MedBay and have someone take a look at that," Sulu advised.
You looked at Sulu like you'd rather have the vine back on your arm, squeezing the life out of it until it snapped off than deal with Dr. McCoy. Eventually you relented and left the lab to get yourself checked out in the MedBay. You only hoped that it was Dr. McCoy's day off, because you didn't think you could deal with him at the moment.
Unfortunately, luck was not to be on your side today. Nurse Chapel called for him as soon as she saw you walk in the door. She had you sit on the biobed and started to check your vital signs. While she was discussing them with Dr. McCoy, a wave of dizziness crashed over you. It was also getting harder to breathe, which was detected by the biobed and it started sending out alarms.
McCoy and Nurse Chapel came racing over to you. "Damn plant must give off some sort of toxin when it wraps around its victims. Hold on, sweetheart, stay with me. We'll get you taken care of, don't you worry," he soothed.
As comforting as his words were, you knew he was in 'doctor mode'. It came naturally to him to use soft terms like 'sweetheart' to put his patients at ease. You knew those words didn't hold any affection towards you anymore like they used to. Whatever feelings may have been implied towards you by his words were likely to be a thing of the past.
"Hold still now, we're going to give you something to counteract the toxin," McCoy explained. He attached a hypospray to your neck and pressed the button to release the medication. Almost immediately, your breathing became easier and the dizziness slowly dissipated. In the meantime, he took the opportunity to bandage the vein-like burns in your forearm.
Once your condition seemed to be stabilized, all you could think of was to get out of the MedBay and back to your quarters. You eased yourself down from the biobed and took a few tentative steps towards the door.
"Whoa, whoa, wait a minute, where do you think you're going?" McCoy demanded.
"Back to my quarters, Dr. McCoy. I thank you and Nurse Chapel for your assistance, but I can take care of myself from here. I hereby relieve you of your obligation to monitor my health any further," you retorted.
"I really don't think that's a good idea, sweetheart," he replied. "You could have a relapse, or develop a complication, or--" he started.
"DON'T. You don't get to call me 'sweetheart', or 'darlin', or anything that would indicate you remotely have any feelings of affection for me anymore," you shot back. Tears began prickling at your eyes, threatening to fall. "Ever since I got here, you've been avoiding me. In the mess hall, the rec area, even the turbolift for goodness' sake," you explained.
"Me?!? As far as I see it, Commander, it's been mutual avoidance. This is as much interaction as I've had with you since the day I saw you in Transporter Room #3. So, don't pin all of this on me," he snapped.
"I'm pretty sure you're not happy that I'm here, so I figured I'd stay out of your way as much as possible. To that end, I'm leaving and going back to my quarters," you informed him calmly.
"Yeah, that's right, I almost forgot. Leaving, that is what you do best, isn't it?" McCoy sneered.
You stopped walking towards the door, overcome by a sob too painful to hold in anymore. After taking a deep breath, you turned your tear-stained face to Dr. McCoy. "I suppose you're right. I've had that coming to me for the last eight years, haven't I?" you asked tearfully. You turned back towards the doors then left the MedBay and headed straight for your quarters.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
After you left, McCoy stood there, with his hands on his hips and shaking his head. He wondered how the situation with you ever got to this point. He remembered how much in love the two of you were, sharing quarters, intertwining lives. For him, you were his whole world, the one he saw his future unfolding with. You loved him despite his flaws and the fact that he constantly thought that he didn't deserve you.
Your mutual friends were rooting for you both, and Joanna loved you as well. The two of you got along well, no hint of jealousy from her when it came to spending time with her father. He remembered how flattered you were when Joanna had once asked for your advice on something.
Jocelyn didn't seem to like you, but then again, she didn't love much of anything to do with him, except Joanna. On more than a few occasions, he'd heard Jocelyn throw snide remarks your way. But as was your nature, you took the high road, and Leonard felt you had handled his ex-wife with grace.
Then came Joanna's birthday party. He'd seen you and Jocelyn talking about something, then when you left her, you looked a little shaken up. McCoy didn't think much of it at the time, but you seemed a little distracted after the encounter. He tried to get you to talk to him about it, however, you assured him that you were tired and just needed some rest to feel better.
Two weeks after the party, without any prior discussion, you had left the Enterprise for a teaching position. Just like that, you were gone from his life, but not remotely gone from his heart. He'd met other women over the past eight years, but none of them could ever hold a candle to you. And deep down, Leonard McCoy knew that no one else ever would.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Back in your quarters, you went straight for the bathroom to splash water on your face as a way to calm down. How dare he! you thought. You had stayed away from him because you thought that's what he wanted. After all it was you who left him. Even though in your mind you knew it was for a good reason, there were still at least two broken hearts at the end of it.
You suddenly remembered what day it was, so you finished drying off your face with a towel. Today was Joanna McCoy's birthday, and she was turning 21, an important milestone. You hoped she was available to take your call, but if not, you would leave a birthday message for her.
Despite no longer being together with her father, you still kept in touch with Joanna over the years. She was a ray of sunshine in Leonard's life, and in yours as well. The last you had heard, she was participating in Starfleet's medical program, thus following in her father's footsteps.
You opened up the comms to send your message request to Joanna. A minute or so later, your video screen lit up with her smiling face and frantic waving at the camera. "Happy Birthday, Joanna!" you grinned.
"Thank you! It's so good to hear from you," she exclaimed.
"I sure wish I could give you a hug for your birthday, sweetie. How's school going for you?" you asked.
She launched into a few tales from her classes, with you nodding and smiling. One of her stories had you busting out in laughter so hard that tears were coming out of your eyes. For the most part, she had achieved the right balance between school and having fun, not an easy task.
"Hey, so Uncle Jim told me you're back on the Enterprise, is that right?" Joanna asked.
"Yes, that's right. Your uncle visited me about six weeks ago and asked me to run the Botany Department and Lab. I wasn't sure about coming back, but he eventually wore me down," you gave a small smile.
"Has he....has Dad seen you? Have you talked to him?" she asked carefully.
You nodded. "I had to go to the MedBay today, due to an unfortunate encounter with a plant from Taegus-3. It wrapped around my arm and wouldn't let go. I had to get a hypo for an allergic reaction, and bandages for my arm. Your dad patched me up just right," you explained.
"Good. Um....I have to ask you something. Do you remember my 13th birthday party?" she inquired.
"Joanna....," you warned.
"Do you remember it?" she tried again. You nodded and she continued. "I know something happened there, because two weeks later, you and Dad weren't together anymore. Why? You two were so happy together, and then you left. What happened?" Joanna demanded.
"Something I can't talk about, Jo, but my leaving was for the best. The best for you and the best for your dad," you replied.
"Best?!? How could it be best for you and Dad to be without each other for this long? Didn't you love him anymore? Was it my mom? Did she say something to you at that party?" Joanna persisted.
At her question, you looked away, and you knew you'd only fueled her curiosity. "Of course I still love him. I told you Joanna, I can't talk about it. Please don't push me on this. Listen, sweetie, I have to go now, but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Take care, honey," you said.
"But---" was the last you'd heard of her voice before you terminated the connection. In the reflection of the view screen, you could see tears sliding down your face. You decided that you needed a drink, so you left your quarters and headed for the recreation area.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
"Well, well, well, who do we have here?" Captain Kirk said as he saw you sitting at the bar.
You groaned at his presence, only wanting to be left alone. "Oh, god, Jim. What are YOU doing here?" you retorted.
"I heard you got hurt and went to MedBay today. Then I went by your quarters to check on you, only to find out you're not there. Figured I'd get a drink, and here you are," he replied.
"Jim, don't take this pershonally," you slurred. "But I want to be left alone. M'kay? Been a rotten day and I'm jusht done," you remarked as you drained your glass and signaled for a refill.
"What happened today?" he persisted.
"You think that just because you have that perfect hair and those bright blue eyes that I'm just gonna spill my guts?" you asked. A smirk crossed his face as he waited expectantly. "Fine. I'll tell you, you insufferable man. I called Joanna McCoy today, since it's her 21st birthday," you started.
"Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to call her later," Kirk interjected.
"Anyway, the topic of conversation got around to her 13th birthday party. She asked me why her dad and I aren't together anymore," you explained, tears threatening again.
"What did you tell her?" Kirk asked.
"I told her the same thing I'm going to tell you. I can't talk about it, but I did what I thought was best for her and for Leonard," you replied. "Now, drop it, Jim," you warned.
"Sorry, no can do. Bones and I both saw Jocelyn talking to you at the party, then the rest of the night you seemed a little upset. Don't get me wrong, you put on a brave face. You fooled most everyone, but Leonard and I knew that something wasn't right. Look, it's been eight years. Don't you think it's time to spill the beans?" Kirk wondered.
"Jim, no good can come from this. Best just to let sleeping dogs lie," you said as you tried again to shut him down.
"Please, let me in. I can see how much this is hurting you, and I think Len finally deserves to know the truth. Don't you think so?" Kirk pleaded.
A few tears had slipped down your face, and you nodded, your resolve having broken at last. "It started when I was in the kitchen putting candles on Joanna's cake. I thought I would do that to make myself useful, help Jocelyn so it was one less thing she had to worry about. Wrong move, because she read me the riot act about how it's her job to do that and I should just back off," you said.
"Ungrateful b....please go on," he prompted.
"I apologized, but she refused to accept it. Instead, she gave me an ultimatum. I had to stop seeing Leonard or she would refuse to let him see Joanna. At first, I couldn't believe she was serious, but one look in her eyes and I knew she was. That's why I was so distant the rest of the night. I tried to put Leonard off by saying I was just tired, but I don't think he was convinced," you remarked.
"Why didn't you tell Len? Or me? We would've found a way to fight this," Kirk insisted.
"I know you would have, and I love you both for it. She said if I told anyone, her next stop was the courthouse. Don't you see? She held all the cards, and I had nothing," you explained.
"You didn't have 'nothing', you had Len and me," Kirk replied.
"Think about it. If I fought her, then she took Len to court and he lost, it's my fault. If I refused to stop seeing Leonard, she would not let him see his daughter. My fault again. Either way, Jim, Leonard and Joanna lose. I couldn't bear for that to happen, so I left. As much as I loved him, and still do, his relationship with his daughter is and always will be more important," you finished. Tears were now streaming unchecked down your face.
"Whoa. I knew she was a piece of work, but I didn't know exactly how much. Bones would be livid if he found out that Jocelyn is the reason you're not together," Kirk replied.
"And that's exactly why I didn't want to tell you. Jim, please, I'm begging you. Let this go," you implored as you slid off your barstool. Jim turned to you and pulled you into his comforting embrace. "I'm going to go sleep this off, okay? I'll be taking a sick day tomorrow," you added. "Goodnight, Jim."
"Goodnight," he called after you then returned his attention to his drink.
"Poor kid. Hate to see a pretty girl cry. So, knowing you, I'd bet that you have no intention of letting this go, do you, Captain?" Tony, the bartender, asked.
"Nope," he replied, downing the rest of his drink. "I gotta find a way to make this right if it's the last thing I do. Thanks, Tony," he said before leaving to go to his quarters. Once there, he opened a comms channel to send a message to his niece. The video screen popped up with Joanna's picture.
"Uncle Jim!! So great to see you," she gushed.
"Happy Birthday, honey. Listen, I know about a conversation you had earlier, that involved a certain someone and your dad," Kirk remarked. "I finally got her to tell me what happened at your birthday party."
"She told me she couldn't tell me, but she could tell you?" Joanna asked angrily.
"Hold on there, sweetie. In her defense, she'd had a lot to drink by the time I caught up with her," Kirk explained.
"Oh. Well, I asked Mom about it, but she wouldn't tell me either. Please tell me what happened, I want to know," Joanna begged.
"Sure thing, kiddo. Then we're going to brainstorm on how to get the two of them back together," Kirk winked.
"Ooh yay! So, tell me," she persisted.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Dr. McCoy trudged into his quarters and sat down on the couch. He grabbed a communication tablet and sent a signal to his daughter, to wish her a happy birthday. Unfortunately, Jocelyn picked up the tablet and answered.
"Joanna's busy right now, Leonard. Call her back later," Jocelyn replied curtly as she moved to disconnect the call.
"Wait, Jocelyn! Will you please let her know that I called to wish her a happy birthday?" McCoy asked.
"Your girlfriend already called earlier and spoke to Joanna. I just assumed you were in the room at the time," Jocelyn remarked.
"What girlfriend? I don't know what you're talking about," McCoy replied. He was starting to get an uneasy feeling the more he talked to his ex-wife.
Jocelyn made a tsking sound of disgust. "The same one that was here on Joanna's 13th--" she broke off and a smug smile crossed her face. "Never mind. I guess she took my advice then."
McCoy's face drained of color. "And just what advice was that? It's been eight years, Jocelyn, you'll have to refresh my memory," he retorted.
"What difference does it make? She must not have been as devoted to you as you were to her. She left you, therefore, you got to keep seeing your daughter," Jocelyn shot back.
The pieces started to come together in McCoy's mind, and it was showing him a pretty ugly picture. "You threatened her. Didn't you?" he seethed. "Why, Jocelyn? What has she ever done to you?" he demanded.
"Joanna called her 'Mom', that's what!" Jocelyn exclaimed. "When Joanna came home from that week-long vacation with the two of you, she was telling me about how much fun she'd had. She slipped and referred to your girlfriend as 'Mom'. I am her mother! I will not be replaced by some flavor-of-the-month!" she shrieked.
"ENOUGH, MOM!" Joanna's voice came through clearly. "Hi, Dad," she greeted McCoy.
"Hiya, pumpkin," he drawled. "Happy Birthday, sweetheart," he replied softly. "Did you know about this?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at his daughter.
"Dad, nobody knew anything about it until she told Uncle Jim tonight. And he said that it was only after a lot of alcohol that she would even tell him. She's kept this horrible secret for all this time, because she wanted you to be happy and able to keep visiting me. She still loves you, Dad, I know she does. Please tell me you still love her," Joanna pleaded.
McCoy turned his face away from the view screen, but not before his daughter caught a glimpse of his watery eyes. "I never stopped loving her, Jo. Not even when she left. I was angry and hurt, but....yes, I still love her," he declared, his voice thick with emotion.
"Then you know what you have to do, Daddy. Go tell her," Joanna whispered the last part. "Consider it my birthday present," she grinned mischievously. "I love you."
"You got it, sweetheart. I'll let you know how it goes. Later, though," McCoy promised with a grin of his own. "I love you," he told her before the call disconnected.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The view screen clicked off, while McCoy digested all of the information he'd just been given. All these years, he mused. The two of you could've been happy together, maybe even engaged or married. Instead, his ex-wife and her jealousy got in the way of that with her threats of denying him visitation rights.
He'd been so wrapped up in his own emotions since you've been back, that he hadn't stopped to consider how you may be feeling. He had been convinced that the reason you left was because you didn't love him anymore. Now he knew that the exact opposite was true. You loved him so much that you sacrificed your own happiness with him so he could continue to see his daughter.
Leonard knew that he had to make things right between you. It couldn't have been easy to come back to work on the Enterprise, knowing at any moment you could run into each other. But, you pushed those feelings and worries aside to help Jim by running the Botany Department and Lab.
He had to admit, it's been awkward since you've been back. He didn't expect the old feelings of love to come rushing back at the first sight of you that day in Transporter Room #3. As much as your leaving had hurt him and the radio silence throughout the years, he still loved you. And now, he grinned to himself, it was time to do something about it.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
You left the rec area and had gone back to your quarters for the night. When you got back, you changed out of your uniform and put on your pink plaid pajama pants and an oversized T-shirt. You made sure it was short-sleeved because of the bandages on your arm from the Strangling Vine Incident earlier in the day. After grabbing a glass of water and two pain meds, you settled into place on the couch. "Computer, illumination at 30% please," you requested.
What a day. First you were attacked by an alien vine, forcing you to get checked out in the MedBay by your ex-boyfriend and CMO. Later, you couldn't even find peace in the rec area. The CMO's best friend and captain of the ship kept hounding you about something that took place eight years ago. You'd told him to drop it, but he refused until you spilled that horrible secret.
Now Jim knows, but knowing about it didn't change anything. No matter how much you still loved him, Leonard surely didn't love you anymore. He'd made that quite clear today with his parting remark as you left the MedBay. You continued to sip at your water, each tilt of the glass with a shakier hand than before.
Off in the distance you heard your door chime, indicating someone at your door. "Come in," you called. You were shocked to see Dr. McCoy walk in. "Excuse me for asking, Doctor, but what the hell are you doing here?" you demanded, arms crossed over your chest.
His eyes locked with yours and you almost gave in to the softness you thought you saw, but you stood your ground. He cleared his throat before speaking. "I'm here to check your bandages. You left the MedBay so quickly, I wanted to make sure that the wound was still covered," he explained.
You rolled your eyes. "Really, Doctor? Is that the best excuse you could come up with? You didn't even bring your medkit, and I really don't have time for this. Goodnight, Dr. McCoy," you retorted.
"Now wait just a minute. As Chief Medical Officer, I am responsible for the health and safety of all crew members. I can see right now that you look a little flushed, which could mean a fever and possibly an infection. Just a quick exam. It'll be painless, I promise," he pleaded, his hands raised.
You arched an eyebrow in skepticism but finally relented. "Fine. A quick exam, then I'm going to bed and you can see yourself out," you muttered.
He stood in front of you, first looking at the bandaged arm, then sliding his hands up your arms to rest on your shoulders. He peered into your eyes and could see how bloodshot they were, probably from the tears you'd been shedding lately. He checked the lymph nodes on your neck to see if they were swollen, but they were fine.
He patted down his uniform, checking his pockets. "Hmm. I don't have a tricorder with me, so I'll have to check your temp the old fashioned way," he remarked. Before you could utter a word, his lips meshed with your forehead.
The second his soft lips touched your skin, something inside you fluttered. You closed your eyes and gave a sigh of contentment before you could stop yourself. "Doctor....," you whispered.
"Shh. Still checkin' your temp, darlin'. And it's Leonard, by the way. You used to call me that, remember?" he murmured against your skin.
Your eyes flew open and you stepped back. "Wait a minute. Why are you really here?" you asked.
"I already told you, to check your bandages. Besides, I want to apologize for what happened earlier in the MedBay, as you were walking out. I shouldn't have said that," McCoy started.
You backed further away from him as the realization sunk in. "Oh no, no, no, you've been talking to Jim, haven't you?" you replied. "I told him to drop it, that no good can come from dredging up something that happened eight years ago. Dammit, does that man ever listen?" you ranted, pacing the floor.
"Hold on there for a minute, sweetheart. I didn't talk to Jim, I called Joanna to wish her a happy birthday. Jocelyn picked up because Joanna was busy. Jocelyn was the one who admitted what happened, not Jim," McCoy explained.
"Leonard, I'm so sorry about what happened all those years ago. I truly thought I was doing the right thing by leaving. But all I've done is cause tremendous heartache for the people I love," you admitted, breaking down into tears yet again.
McCoy walked over and put his arms around you, holding you close to his chest. His hand came up and stroked the back of your head. "Shh, it’s okay, darlin'. I just wish I had known about it then. You never should've had to shoulder that burden all by yourself. Did you ever plan on telling me?" he asked.
You leaned back just far enough to lock eyes with him. "I couldn't, Len. Jocelyn said if I did, she would take you to court and fix it so you couldn't see Joanna at all. I know that custody hearings can go either way, and there's no way I could take the chance that you might lose. So I thought my only option was to step aside. I'd rather have you hate me but keep visitation rights for your daughter, than to love me and not have her," you said as you broke down again.
"Oh, Sugar, I could never hate you," he replied softly, brushing your cheek with the back of his hand. "When I found out that you left, I was so angry and hurt. Mostly because you'd made a decision alone that affected both of us. But when you came back and I saw you on that transporter pad all those weeks ago, I thought I had a second chance. Probably screwed that up too, though, haven't I?" he chuckled and so did you.
"Nah. You haven't done anything of the sort. I have missed you so much. After enough time had gone by, I thought about reaching out to you. Then I figured that too much time had gone by and you'd be with someone else. Which would've been fine, as long as you were happy, that's all that would matter to me," you remarked.
"Well, I haven't exactly been living like a monk, you know. I've met other women over the years, but none of them compared to you and no one ever will, either. Which is good, because I don't want any pale imitations or substitutions. I only want the real thing," he admitted just before crashing his lips into yours.
You felt the depth of his emotion poured into that first kiss and returned it with equal fervor. The apologies, the regrets, the longing for each other you still had after all these years. And the love you'd been keeping hidden from each other but never fully let show until now.
"Oh, my love," you whispered. "I've missed you so much, Leonard," you replied hoarsely.
"I've missed you too. I love you so much, Sugar. Can we please agree to not ever be separated like that again? I don't think my heart can take another minute without you," he remarked.
"Mine either. No more separations like that, because with you is where I belong. I love you, Len," you declared. You ran your hands up his arms and cradled his neck between them. Your fingers slid through his jet-black hair, smirking as you teased the short hairs at the base of his collar.
"Oh, there's my naughty girl, I wondered where she'd gone," McCoy growled playfully as he tightened his embrace.
"She's been right here, all along. Just waiting for the right time to come home," you replied softly, then tugged him closer for another kiss.
This kiss was different than before. This one was slow, sensuous and held the promise of a new beginning. As your mouths moved against each other, there was just enough of an opening between you for Leonard's tongue to slip through. He took full advantage of the opportunity, and when your tongues met, a moan of pleasure escaped from you.
Leonard's hands roamed up and down your back as he nudged his way to your neck. "Darlin', you're so beautiful," he murmured against your skin. He left a few open-mouthed kisses on your collarbone, nipping as he went and ultimately leaving his mark on you for all to see.
Layers of clothing were shed one by one. Little by little, Leonard nudged you backwards until the back of your knees hit the bed. You climbed up onto the mattress, crawling until you reached the middle where he soon joined you and leaned down to kiss you.
His hands and mouth took their time in worshiping every inch of your exposed skin, as if re-committing it to memory. Your mouth and hands were doing the same, reacquainting yourself with every muscle, every detail of his exquisite bare body.
The silence of your room was punctuated with breathy words of affection and moans of ecstasy from the two of you. Layers of passion were built higher and higher as you both chased your release. Finally, you both tumbled over the edge, one after the other, each whispering declarations of love.
Later, after you both got cleaned up, Leonard came back to bed and settled under the covers with you. He wrapped his arm around you so that your head rested on his chest. You could hear his steady heartbeat, which brought out a sigh of contentment from you.
"Len?" you whispered. He hummed in response, drawing random patterns on your shoulder. "Is this okay? I mean, what just happened, I don't want this to be a one-time thing. I'd like us to try again. I-If that's what you want," you hastily added.
He shifted so that he was propped up on his side, looking down at you. His hand cupped your face, while his thumb caressed your cheek. "Sweetheart, I've wanted that ever since you set foot back on this ship. I may be a little late in sayin' so, but I never stopped lovin' you. If you'll have me, I would love to try being us again," he replied softly.
"I would love that very much," you answered. "I love you, Leonard."
"I love you too, darlin'. Welcome home," he whispered, pulling you in for a long, slow kiss.

Maybe Kids Aren’t So Bad
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x plus size!reader
Summary: Y/N and Bucky have been dancing around their feelings for a while now. They decide to get out of the tower and go to the store. They happen to pass by some kids who are fans of the avengers.
Word Count: 2.3k words
Warnings: Mentions of kidnapping, torture, nightmares, and lots of fluff.
Masterlist!!
Author’s Note: I saw lots of people liked my first fanfic! Soon after I saw people liked the first one, I started writing this one. I hope you all enjoy it because I sure did. Have a great day everyone who reads this! (gif below is not mine!!)
Tumblr media
"Does someone wanna go with me to go grocery shopping?" you asked the others in the tower as you stood behind the island.  Everyone had been awake for about 15 minutes and almost all of them were eating in the kitchen.  A few of them didn't hear you as you didn't say it very loudly.  Tony told you he had things to do, just like him.  Thor and Natasha said they had to train today and go to a mission briefing.  Steve apologized and told you he had to finish and turn in  the report for the mission he got back from yesterday.
Soon Bucky walked into the kitchen.  He looked like he hadn't been sleeping, which you knew very well since you could hear him at night through the walls.  You wanted to comfort him but you were nervous since you didn't know him all that well to begin with.  He had arrived at the tower a few months ago and was very quiet with everyone except Steve.
You couldn't deny that he was an attractive man.  You also had a soft spot for him since you knew what it was like to be alone and scared in some type of lab that kept you against your will.  You had been abducted when you were a teen and had been taken to some type of scary lab where you were injected with chemicals.  The scientist had given you powers that allowed you to control the plants around you.  You could harness energy from them and control them by will.
You could understand Bucky's nightmares and feel the pain in the sound of his screams at night.  You used to have those same screams and nightmares but learned to keep them from keeping you up at night.  You had started meditating, talking to people, training to release all your anger, finding hobbies that distracted you, and even simple things such as writing it down to then burn the paper you wrote it on.
You watched as he sat down at one of the island chairs.  Most of the avengers had already left the room by the time he sat down.  You looked at him and gave him a soft smile.  "Morning, Bucky. Would you like some coffee?" you asked him in a soft voice, watching his ocean blue eyes move across your form.  "Yes, please…" he replied in a tired but sweet voice.  You grabbed the mug he used most of the time and filled it with coffee.  He watched how you got everything right about his coffee, down to how much he would naturally fill it.
He was surprised and yet amazed you paid that much attention to him.  "Here you go."  You handed Bucky his coffee, and he grabbed it with his right hand, gently grazing your fingers as he held the handle.  He watched your eyes when your hands grazed.  He thought he saw something there sparkling in your eyes but wasn't sure as you turned away to get him something to eat.  You turned to grab him something to eat as well as to hide your light blush from your fingers grazing.
You took another minute to turn back around so the blush could cool from your cheeks.  Handing him a protein bar, you picked up the cup of tea you had made yourself earlier.  "I wanted to ask if you wanted to get out of the tower and go to the grocery store with me?"  Bucky looked into your eyes as he thought about if he was up for it.  He had to think not because it was you, but because he was scared of people seeing him and running.  He hardly left the tower unless it was for missions or on the off chance he needed clothes to wear.
"Sure, Y/N. I think that would be good.  It's a nice day out, and we can hang out together as we don't normally hang out."  He spoke with a soft smile on his lips, taking another drink from his coffee.  You smiled happily and nodded towards him.  "Alright then! It's a date! I'll let you eat, and I have to do a few things before we go out.  I'll meet you in the lobby around 12?" you asked, walking towards the end of the island, making your way to the hallway.  "It's a date.' Bucky agreed and smiled back, watching you walk off.
~Time Skip~
It had been about an hour since Y/N and Bucky said they would meet up in the lobby for their 'date'.  You had been nervously pacing around your room after you heard the word date fell off of Bucky's lips. You didn't know what to do or wear. Well, you had an idea of what you would wear, but would it make you weird? Finally, you decided on a cute sundress since it was sunny and warm outside. You fixed your hair, put on light makeup (or no makeup if you don't wear any), and picked out your comfy pair of vans. Looking at yourself in the mirror, you let out a sigh and thought you were trying too hard to look cute for Bucky. "Why am I dressing like we are actually going on a date?" You asked yourself aloud and towards the mirror.
You grabbed your phone and looked at the time, grabbing your small purse while walking out the door. Making your way to the elevator, Bucky stepped out of his room in a pair of comfy clothes. He was wearing a navy blue shirt with some light blue jeans. He tried to look nice like you did. He had brushed his hair back some and looked relaxed. He soon noticed you and gave you a smile, the one that usually melts you into a puddle.
"Oh hey, Doll…  Wow  You look so pretty…" he tells you softly as you walk up towards him. "You look pretty handsome yourself." you replied, shyly smiling as you both walked towards the elevator.  "I have a list on my phone of what we need to get for everyone.  I was also thinking of cooking and baking tonight for everyone." you told Bucky as you turned on your phone.  "What were you planning on cooking?" he asked, pressing the button for the lobby.
"Hmm…  I don't know just yet.  I was thinking of making something called Beef Tripe soup. It's a famous dish in Romania, and I've always wanted to travel to Romania, or well anywhere that isn't here in the United States." You rambled a little as you rode the elevator with Bucky.  "Sorry... I love to cook and bake.  I grew up baking and cooking with my mom before I was kidnapped."  You smiled as you reminisced about your memories with your mother.  "Doll, it's ok.  You can ramble to me.  I enjoy hearing from you talking about food and different recipes."  He then took in the last sentence that you were kidnapped.  Steve had briefly mentioned you had been kidnapped but never went any further than that.  "If you don't mind me asking, how were you kidnapped?"  He was curious but didn't want to bring up any painful memories the kidnapping had created for you.
"Well, I was at home and working on homework for school, boring, I know."  You chuckled and thought back to it.  "I remember sitting at my desk and having my earbuds in.  I realized it was around maybe 10 pm, and I was hungry for a small snack.  So, I went downstairs with my earbuds still in my ears.  As I made my way to the kitchen, I felt someone or something looking at me.  I turned around to see a guy in all black.  He ran towards me before I could scream for help.  He knocked me out and took me to this disgusting lab, had me strapped on an old medical operating table."
Bucky listened to you, pissed beyond belief that someone kidnapped a random girl from her house.  Let alone the fact that you were only a teenager when you got kidnapped, which made his blood boil.  You continued, not noticing Bucky's face.  "For years, he would test on me, come up with new experiments and chemicals to put into my body.  Finally, one day after he said he found 'the perfect formula,' he tested it on me.  After hours of being in excruciating pain, I found out that I could control plants…  There was a weed growing in front of the small window he kept in his lab.  It was the only window that had access to sunlight.  I remember him beating me, and as I was begging him to stop, the plant grew larger as if it felt my pain and came to help me."
"It kept growing as he kept beating me into submission so he could test more chemicals on me.  After what felt like an hour of beating me up, the plant managed to become this massive accumulation of weeds, flowers, leaves, and any other plant material it could find.  It made its way to the man and wrapped around him, pulling him away from me. The plants started strangling him.  He eventually lost consciousness and once the plant realized he was passed out, it started wilting slowly and soon died.  You could say my pain was what caused the plants to save me."
Bucky was watching you in awe, though he seemed upset (at the man, never you) at your story. "Wow, Doll…  I can't believe that happened to you.  I'm so sorry." he told you, and you gently took his metal arm and held his hand, smiling softly up at him.  "Thank you, Buck.  I really appreciate it.  It took some time to get over it and the pain of the nightmares, but I'm stronger than I used to be because of it."  You let go of his hand when the elevator dinged to let you know you made it to the lobby.
You both walked out of the elevator and to the grocery store that was around the block.  You walked in casual silence and grabbed a shopping cart once you entered the small store.  Bucky helped you get everything on the list and a few ton of other things you didn't really need but was requested by the other avengers.  After what felt like a long time, you and Bucky finally finished shopping and headed towards the checkout section.
As you and Bucky made your way over to the checkout section, you both heard soft gasps from behind you.  You both then heard whispering that sounded like it belonged to some children.  "Is that really him, Charlie?!"  "It has to be Dante!!"  Soon, the sound of running could be heard coming from behind you and Bucky.  You looked towards Bucky to see if he heard it as well.  He had.  As you both turned around, you saw two young kids that looked to be around 6 or 7, running towards you both.
The two kids, Charlie and Dante, you assumed, stopped in front of you.  They look up with awe on their faces at you and Bucky.  "Mr. Winter Soldier??" The little boy asks Bucky with a bright smile on his face.  "Uh.. yes?" he asks as he moves to stand on one knee before the little boy.  "Can I have your autograph??  Please, Mr. Winter Soldier!  You're my favorite superhero!!"  Bucky was taken back at the boy's words.  "O-oh sure!"  He was excited that a young child wanted his autograph after everything he's done as the winter soldier.  He grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, writing Dante a note before signing it.
Bucky handed Dante the note with a smile. Immediately after he gave Dante the signed paper, Dante gave Bucky a big hug. "Thank you so much, Mr. Winter Soldier!!" Dante told him happily and ran over to his mom.  Charlie was talking with Y/N the whole time Bucky was with Dante.  "Ms. Y/L/N?" She shyly asked you while tugging on your dress lightly.  "Yes, hun?" you asked with a smile and moved down to her eye level.  "Are you Mr. Winter Soldier's girlfriend?"  You blushed dark, and your eyes widened at Charlie's words.
"Uh… well, that's a complicated sweetheart.  Maybe one day." you tell Charlie, and she smiles brightly and squeals, running off to her mom and brother.  Bucky, thankfully, didn't hear you tell Charlie you hoped to be his girlfriend one day.  After you talked with the kids, you paid for all your groceries and walked back to the tower.
"Hey, Doll?" Bucky asked, looking at you as you walked beside each other on the street.  "Yes, Bucky?" you replied, glancing at him before turning your head to look in front of you.  "What did that little girl ask you? I heard her say something, but I couldn't make it out." he asked you curiously, having wondered since they left the grocery store a few minutes ago.  "Oh yeah. She did ask me something.." you said softly as you kept walking, not telling him as you were scared he wouldn't like you back.
"Y/N, was it something bad?  Something that made you think of past memories?"  He stopped you in the middle of the sidewalk, gently grabbed your hand.  "No, no, Bucky, I promise!  It's just… embarrassing…"  He tilted his head like a confused puppy looking at you.  You took a minute before you let out a sigh.  "She asked me… if I was your girlfriend."  You looked away for a second before looking back at him.
"Oh... " he mumbled out softly and looked away from your gaze.  You were scared that he would reject you, but you had no time to react as he said, "Well, would you like to be?"  Your eyes widened, and you blinked a few times.  It took you a minute to come back with a response.  You soon found yourself smirking, asking him, "Why don't you take me on a date first, Barnes?"  You took your hand out of his and walked into the Avengers tower, feeling confident in yourself.  As you left Bucky on the sidewalk to walk into the tower, you heard an excited Barnes exclaim, "Finally!"  You giggled as you continued into the tower.

Cafe 7 Dream: Jisung
Tumblr media
Word count: 3,354
Warnings: violence, stabbing
Read the prologue before reading this!
You were at the cafe and there was no work for you to do. The dreamies were handling everything on their own, so there was no use for you at the cafe. Bored, you just stared at the boys as they made orders. You wanted to help out, but you knew that disrupting them could mess up their whole flow and cost them a lot of money. Chenle reminded you of that many, many times before.
The only one that didn’t seem busy was Jisung. He was lounging around, staring at the boys mindlessly, just like you. Jisung caught your eye. It wasn’t usual that you saw him behind the counter. He almost always stayed in the back room, “keeping inventory”. You were suspicious of him. There was no way the cafe had so much stuff that Jisung had to be in the back room all the time. You could tell by the way that Jisung stuttered that he was hiding something back there. Then again, Jisung always stuttered when he talked to you.
Jisung didn’t stay in your vision for long. After a few minutes, he slipped back into the back room. Your curiosity was getting the best of you. You knew that Jisung would be upset if you sneaked in, but you just had to know what was back there. You looked around at the other dreamies. They were all preoccupied, making it the perfect opportunity for you to sneak into the back. You took your chance and creeped into the room.
You were not prepared for what you saw. All of the walls were covered in rows of shelves, each lined with countless bottles. The bottles contained all sorts of liquids, some of which were neon colors. At the center of the room, there was a table set up with beakers and tubes. You were in awe of what looked like a lab behind the cafe. You were going to sneak back out, but Jisung head popped up from behind the table.
“y/n! What are, uh, you doing here?” Jisung stuttered with a nervous smile. The boy had two bottles with pink liquid in his hands. He tried to hide them behind his back, but had already noticed them.
“Jisung? What is this place? What is all this stuff?” you asked, reaching out to grab a bottle.
“No!” Jisung shouted, causing you to flinch. “Don’t touch anything in here, okay?” He placed the bottles down on the table and held his forehead. “What am I going to do?” he muttered to himself.
“First, you’re going to explain to me what this all is.”
“Okay, so, uh, you know how people love coming to our cafe,” Jisung said while playing with his fingers. “It’s because of this stuff.”
“You’re drugging people?”
“No! No! That’s not it! It’s just that, uh, you’re really not going to believe me.”
“Try me,”  you replied, putting your hands on your hips.
“I’m a wizard, so I make potions. We put love potions in the cafe food so that people will love our cafe.” Jisung noticed your confused face. “If you don’t believe me you can try for yourself.”
You walked over to where Jisung was standing. He quickly grabbed another bottle from under the table and placed it on the table.
“Experience the potion yourself. When it’s effects wear off, I’ll tell you exactly what happened to you without you even telling me anything.”
You grabbed the potion from the table and drank it. Before you could place the bottle back down, you were transported to another world. You were in a forest and it was snowing. There were 7 little boys running around, screaming in joy as they played a game of tag. Your heart warmed at the precious sight of the dreamies when they were young. You were about to take a step closer, but everything began to fade. You found yourself back in the room with Jisung.
“You saw your childhood, right? The most precious memory that you’ve ever experienced.” Jisung said. You nodded, not having the heart to say that you saw otherwise.
“It’s an original potion that I made. It took months to develop perfectly,” Jisung said as he returned the bottle to it’s original place.
Jisung worked on the potion for months, but it seemed like he only tested it on himself. The potion wasn’t the user’s most precious memory, it was Jisung’s. Even though you didn’t see the right image, you were convinced Jisung was telling the truth about magic.
“What about the other guys?”
“So Mark and Jaemin, they’re normal people. Kind of like you, but more magically aware. Haechan, he hasn’t gained his powers yet. And then Jeno, he’s a water spirit.”
“Makes sense,” you replied.
“And then Chenle, well, uh,” Jisung began to stutter again. “He’s like super rich and his family is like a super big deal, so he’s not really allowed to tell his powers. Not even to me,” he said, pretending to be disappointed.
“Of course he wouldn’t tell you! You’d blabber it all out!” you joked.
“I don’t blabber any secrets!” Jisung said, trying to defend himself. “And Renjun trusted me with his vision about you so ha!”
“Renjun had a vision about me?” you said raising your eyebrow.
“Shoot,” Jisung said, slapping his forehead. “I’ll just let him explain it.”
Jisung walked back into the front of the cafe and you followed behind him. Renjun was standing behind the counter with the other boys, trying to put up a poster on the wall.
“So Renjun, what’s this about a vision you had?” you asked with your arms crossed.
“Dude, I told you Jisung wouldn’t be able to keep a secret,” Jeno said, laughing. Renjun shook his head in disappointment before looking at you.
“y/n, do you believe in magic?” Renjun asked.
“You can skip the explanation. I saw everything Jisung had in the back.”
“Okay, so I’m an oracle, so I can see into the future. And I saw your future, and it’s not looking too good. You’re probably going to get attacked,” Renjun said casually, as if it were nothing.
“Before you get worried y/n, it’s really no big deal. Renjun’s never had an accurate vision before. It’s not like this one’s going to come true,” Chenle said.
“And he was on the floor of a frat house when it came to him, so I wouldn’t worry too much,” Mark added. Renjun slapped Mark on the arm for adding that detail.
“Oh wow, for a second I thought I was going to be special,” you said sarcastically, pretending to be disappointed.
“Don’t worry y/n, I’ll protect you,” Jisung said, joining in on your sarcasm. He threw his arm around your shoulder, rubbed your head, and said, “you’re all safe now y/n.”
The boys laughed and then went back to work. Jisung walked back into the back room, and you followed him, since you had nothing better to do.
“Hey Jisung, why don’t you give me so potions lessons?” you said. You found a stool in the corner of the room and pulled it up to the table. “It would be good practice for you, too.”
“Who said I needed practice?” Jisung replied. You turned around and got up from the stool, ready to walk out the door. “Hey, wait! I’ll do it!”
You sat back down on the stool and watched Jisung. He started pulling out liquids and dried plants from under the table. There were far too many thing coming out from under the small table, but you figured that magical storage was very efficient.
“The first lesson is an antidote potion,” Jisung said. He placed in front of you various dried plants, seeds, and a dark green liquid.
“Can’t we start with the love potion,” you complained.
“If you’re trying to seduce someone, you won’t be learning it here,” Jisung said with a smile. “And the antidote potion is the best place to start anyways. If you mess up any other potion, it could kill you. It’s always important to know how to make an antidote.” Jisung handed you a mortar and pestle.
“I have to grind this by hand?” you groaned.
“Unless you have magical abilities, you’d better get used to grinding everything in there. Any questions so far?”
“What is all this stuff?” you asked as you grinded all the dry ingredients.
“Actually, I’m not really sure. I kind of just know the stuff I need. I use my intuition.”
“Oh that’s just great,” you said, rolling your eyes.
“It’s not like it matters anyways. You’re doing a great job,” Jisung said with a smile. “Now it’s time to add the blue liquid. Don’t ask me what it is, I wasn’t paying attention when I learned it.”
You poured the blue liquid in and began to mix it.
“So what else do you do Jisung? There’s more to being a wizard than just potions, right?”
“Well, potions are my specialty. I can make them back here when I’m alone. There’s nobody yelling at me or telling me to hurry up when I make potions, so it’s pretty therapeutic. I can do spells too, but those take a lot of patience to learn, especially if you try to do them mentally. Spells are so much more pressure.”
“Oh,” you said, looking down at what you had made. “I’m sorry I disturbed your private time.”
“Nah, it’s no big deal. I like you y/n. I mean, uh, I like being around you.” Jisung quickly went under the desk to get a bottle for you potion, but he was really just trying to avoid eye contact with you. His face was burning up. After Jisung got up, he poured your potion into a bottle and sealed it. He grabbed a permanent marker and wrote on the bottle.
“y/n’s antidote potion,” Jisung said with a smile. “I’ll be sure to make good use out of this.”
“I think the cafe is closing up right now,” you told Jisung. The commotion you could hear between Renjun and Haechan was an obvious sign that it was time for you to leave.
“Well then, I’ll see you tomorrow y/n,” Jisung replied, waving you off as you walked towards the door. “Or do you prefer apprentice?”
“I’d go by any name if it meant I could spend time with you,” you said. You were shocked at your own words. You had no idea where that came from. You hurried out before Jisung could question you on your reply.
You spent all your shifts with Jisung. Every day, Jisung had a new set of herbs for you to grind and bottle. You were worried the Chenle might be upset that you weren’t working, but he just smiled and pushed you into the back with Jisung.
“So what are we learning today, Jisung?” you asked as you pulled up the stool.
“Love potions,” Jisung said with a smile.
“You’re finally teaching me how you drug the people in the cafe,” you said teasingly.
“I don’t drug people, y/n. It’s magic. There’s a difference,” Jisung explained. “And were just doing a basic love potion today. Nothing complicated like falling in love with a building.”
You chucked at Jisung’s response.
“Hey, you have no idea how hard that was for me! You try making people love the cafe when the employees are moody magical beings!” Jisung complained as he grabbed the ingredients for the love potions. He placed an assortment of dried herbs and seeds on the table.
“So what’s the plan here?” you asked.
“You can just take whatever you like. Love potions are based on personal preference. There’s really no wrong answer,” Jisung said as he handed you the mortar and pestle. “Oh wait! I forgot the most important ingredient!”
You watched as Jisung pulled out a bottle with a red liquid inside.
“You can taste it, it’s nothing weird, I promise,” Jisung said as he handed the bottle over to you.
You dipped your finger inside and tasted the mysterious liquid.
“This is tomato juice!” you said with wide eyes. “Your secret ingredient is tomato juice?”
“It’s for the aesthetics. It gives the potion a nice color. And my secret ingredient isn’t tomato juice. I use hot sauce. Tomato juice is a beginner’s ingredient.”
“Hot sauce is not aesthetic Jisung,” you said with a laugh.
“It’s more aesthetic than blood.” Jisung noticed the confused look on your face. “It’s an old practice,” he explained.
You spent the rest of your shift putting together a love potion. Jisung had been right about how difficult it was. Selecting your own ingredients took careful deliberation. You wanted your first love potion to be perfect. After a while, you had put together your first love potion.
“Wow, that looks really good, y/n,” Jisung said with admiration. “Can I try it? You can try mine too.”
“What’s going to happen when we taste it?” you asked.
“These are pretty weak potions anyways. We’re probably just going to see our crush. It’ll be a basic sensation. It’ll be something you already know.”
“Let’s do it then,” you said.
You and Jisung exchanged bottles and took a sip from the potions. You closed your eyes and waited for the potion to settle in. When you opened your eyes again, you were in the same place.
“Nothing happened, Jisung. Did we make them wrong or what?” you asked.
“No y/n. We made them perfectly,” Jisung replied.
You watched as Jisung crinkled up his nose at what he had just said. You took a second to process what he meant.
“So that means we, uh,” you started to say. You couldn’t verbalize the next part.
“Yep,” Jisung said while looking down. Despite liking each other, you and Jisung were highly embarassed by the situation.
“So, um, uh,” you stuttered, trying to find something to say to Jisung.
“Do you want to date me?” Jisung babbled.
“Yes.” You kept your hands busy with all the ingredients on the table. You still felt too awkward to make eye contact with Jisung. He felt the same way about you.
“We should head out now,” Jisung said. You followed him out towards the front of the cafe.
The other boys immediately noticed that Jisung was blushing when you two walked out. Neither you nor Jisung were making eye contact with any of them.
“What’s up with you two? Did you two make out in the back or what?” Jaemin said with a smirk.
“No way, Jisung’s too much of a wimp to do that,” Mark replied.
“The probably kissed by accident or something,” Jeno said.
“How do you accidentally kiss someone?” Chenle asked.
“It’s a classic trick Chenle. y/n probably fell on Jisung and-” Renjun started.
“That’s not what happened!” Everyone was shocked by Jisung’s sudden confidence, even Jisung himself. “We’re, uh, dating each other now. That’s all,” Jisung said in a quiet voice.
The dreamies erupted in screams. Haechan started slapping Jisung on the back.
“Look at you, all grown up,” Haechan said with awe. “Be careful back there. The two of you alone in that dark room, it could get wild, Jisung.”
After dating for a while, the teasing subdued from the dreamies. There was always the occasional joke about your potions mixing, but it was expected from the boys. You and Jisung became much more comfortable with one another.
The day of the cafe event had finally rolled around. You didn’t pay much attention to it after Renjun had mentioned it to you, but apparently it was a very big deal to the dreamies. They would be in the presence of a lot more magic than they were used to, so they spending a lot of extra time at the cafe. You tagged along, hoping to help them in any way possible. It had been a long time since you actually contributed to the cafe and not just sit in the back with your boyfriend.
“Hey y/n, can you help me and Jisung in the back right now?” Haechan said.
You followed Haechan into the back room. He locked the door behind you, which was odd. Jisung never did that before. Before you could ask him why he did that, Haechan lunged towards you. He pinned you to the ground and you started to scream.
“Don’t scream y/n, or you’ll end up like your boyfriend over there,” Haechan said with a menacing grin. Haechan turned your head to the side so you could see Jisung. He was sitting in the corner tied up with rope. His mouth was covered with tape.
“What are you doing?” you cried.
“Good question, y/n. You’re just so smart, aren’t you?” Haechan said as he tied up your arms. “You skip lectures so you can go take little potion lessons from your boyfriend. How cute.”
“This is about the lectures? Oh my gosh Haechan, I promise I-” Haechan placed his hand over your mouth.
“Don’t make me tape that beautiful mouth up.” Haechan got to work on tying up your feet. “And it’s something much more different, dear. You see with this high magical energy in the air, I’m at an urge to awaken my powers.”
Haechan stood up and grabbed a knife from the table.
“And there happens to be one potion that’ll do the trick. Your precious boyfriend already started making it. Now I just need the final ingredient,” Haechan said as he leaned over you. “Your blood.”
Haechan pulled the blade through your arms. Blood started to leak out onto your shirt, but you had already passed out. Haechan collected the blood and placed it into the bottle with the other ingredients. He started to take a sip when the bottle shattered. Haechan was enraged. He turned around to see Jisung, who had broken free.
“You think you can stop me?” Haechan screamed.
Haechan tried to take a step forward, but he had become paralyzed. Jisung was mumbling a spell to himself. Even though he was focusing all his energy on restraining Haechan, Jisung could only think of you. He hurried over to the shelves and grabbed the first healing potion he could find. He opened the bottle and poured the whole thing down your throat.
“Jisung!” was the first thing you said when you woke up. Jisung was too busy mumbling spells to reply to you. You looked over at the bottle Jisung had given you. It was the first potion you had made. You picked up the bottle and at the same time, Jisung stopped mumbling and pulled you into a hug. You felt warm in his embrace, but you became worried.
“What about Haechan?” you asked as you pulled away from the hug.
“He’s in paralysis. His body is transforming right now, so he’s especially dangerous. I put a spell on him so he won’t hurt us right now.”
You had no words for how grateful you were. You pulled him into a hug again.
“y/n, I’m really sorry I couldn’t protect you. You got hurt because of me. I should have never even started making that-”
You put your finger over his lips. You didn’t want the moment to be ruined. There would be a lot of explaining and apologizing to be done, but at that moment you just wanted to be in the arms of your boyfriend.

Peter Parker’s betrayal
Warning: Depressed Peter, Betrayed Peter, Dick head Stark.
-Peter POV-
I was so excited for this weekend, I had finally convinced Aunt May to let me stay the night at Stark towers. Mr. Stark and had been begging for weeks for me to stay the weekend so we could geek-out about nuclear physics and new suit upgrades to our heats content. After quite a bad Friday, Ned and MJ has been acting weird and Flash seems to have gotten more violent and cocky. Plus, when Happy drove me back to my apartment he never spoke to me, not even his dry hello, he just gave me sympathetic glances as if he knew something I didn't. Saturday was the day, the day I had been waiting for since I first heard of Mr. Stark and his work. Since I read the first news article on Iron Man. Since I was 6 years old.
It started great, the sun was shining unusually bright for a March morning, Aunt May had made me her world famous pancakes worthy of Mr. Stark himself. My bag was already packed and ready, all I had to do was wait. Wait for Happy to come and pick me up and take me to what would've been the best weekend of my life.
How I wish I could go back. I wish I could go back to being this happy and content with my life. I wish.
"Peter! Happy's here!" Aunt May yelled at me from the living room, I was waiting on my bed.
"Okay, I'm coming." I told her grabbing my bag and walking to the door to meet Happy.
All he did was give me a sympathetic look and lead me outside to the car. The last time I'll ever see this car. The drive to Stark Tower was similar to the drive home last night. Awkward and eerily silent. The thirty minute drive felt like two hours as a sense of impending doom washed over me. I should've listened to my senses and asked Happy to turn back.
Soon we pulled into the Stark tower garage and started walking towards the elevator, Happy following close behind. We rode up to the penthouse again, in silence and walked into the living room.
My heart shattered.
Mr. Stark was sat on the couch watching a movie with popcorn and Ice cream while talking to someone. A teenage boy I recognised. The teenage boy who tormented me since freshman year. The teenage boy names Eugene 'Flash' Thompson. Sat on Mr. Starks couch, watching a movie. What is going on.
"Hey Mr Stark." I spoke waving at him and walking further into the living room.
"Oh Peter. What're you doing here?" He asked.
"Come on. It's the sleepover we've been planning for months. The one we begged my Aunt to let us have, you've got to be joking right?" I asked scared of the answer.
"Oh, no I don't. I was busy with Flash, he's such a cool guy you know." Mr. Stark told me. "Why don't you go work on something in the lab while I finish this movie with Flash. Then we can all do something together." He suggested.
"Sounds great." I mumbled as I slowly moved back to the elevator to go to my lab.
Hours passed in the lab and there was no sign of Mr. Stark anywhere. It's as if he forgot me. I had finished upgrading my suit, multiple times, tested it and managed to build new web shooters from scratch. He never came.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y show me Mr. Stark." I requested.
"Of course Peter." She responded, even she sounded like she had sympathy for me.
The image she showed me broke my heart. Mr. Stark and Flash were sat on the couch, likely not even left since I last saw them, laughing with each other. Laughing at me.
"And then he just fell, like out of no where. Didn't trip over anything, just fell. The whole cafeteria laughed at him while I got up and ran away crying like a little baby." Flash told the traitor. Lies. He had tripped me while I was getting my lunch and it split all over my clothes and the floor.
"Oh my God, how pathetic." Mr. Stark said through tears of laughter.
Speaking of tears, I felt my own eyes welling up. How could he? After all we had been through with the Thanos snap, how hard he tried to get me back. How could he do this to me? He even called me son a few times, I sometimes called him Dad by accident but he never let me live it down.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y stop." I requested through sobs.
"I'm sorry Peter. Should I inform Mr. Stark of your distress?" F.R.I.D.A.Y asked with as much sympathy as a robot could as the image disappeared.
"No, he probably wouldn't care anyway." I told her as I heard footsteps coming towards the lab.
"What's up Penis? Upset that I'm closer to Tony?" Flash taunted as he entered my lab, something only Mr. Stark is allowed to do without my permission.
"No. Just overwhelmed." I told him wiping my tears away and getting angry.
"Well, Tony told me to come down and let you know that we may have to reschedule the whole sleepover thing." He told me smirking.
“Why?" I asked.
"We've just made plans, more important than any of yours." He told me leaving the room.
I broke down crying, what's happening. Just a few days ago everything was normal, what changed? Soon heavy crying turned into a full blown panic attack. Great.
"Mr. Parker Mr. Stark has been notified of your current state. He said he'll be here when he can." F.R.I.D.A.Y informed me making it worse.
There was a time when he would drop everything to make sure I was okay. He walked out of numerous meetings, one was with the president, because I was the slightest bit panicky. Now, having a panic attack on the floor below him he's all of a sudden too busy. Too busy with Flash.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y call Nat please." I requested through sobs.
"Peter? What's going on are you okay?" Nat's voice rung out immediately, she picks up fast.
"No. Can you come to my lab please?" I requested calming down slightly.
"Of course. Where's Stark?" She asked as I heard her moving around and a door slam.
“He's, uh, with someone. Too busy to come down and help me." I told her making it worse again at the thought of it. He's basically abandoned me for Flash.
"Okay I'm 5 minutes away. Stay calm." She instructed.
Less than five minutes later Nat came bursting through the doors Mr. Stark in tow. He was holding his ear making me feel like she'd dragged him down here aggressively.
"What's this for?! Me and Flash just got the crucial plot point of the movie!" Mr. Stark yelled at Nat.
"This is more important! You left him down here to have a panic attack on his own! He had to call me to come and help! What's wrong with you?!" Nat yelled back and she walked over to comfort me.
"I told him I would be there when I could, a.k.a, not at the crucial plot point of the movie!" Mr. Stark responded making Nat send daggers at him.
"That's not as important as the welfare of your intern, the person you call your son. What's going on and who's that person in the living room anyway?" Nat growled at him.
"My names Eugene 'Flash' Thompson. I'm Tony's new intern." Flash introduced himself sticking his hand out for Nat to shake it. Strange, I didn't even know he was here.
"Leave. Peter's Tony's intern." Nat growled at him pushing his hand away.
"Not anymore. I decided to hire Flash instead, sorry Peter." Mr. Stark informed me with very little sympathy in his voice. "You can still intern, just not for me."
"Stop talking before I throw you out of this window." Nat warned. "Why all of a sudden do you think Peter's not good enough? You were calling him your son not even two days ago!" Nat yelled.
"Realisation I guess. I realised that the future of my company should be left with someone strong and willing. Not someone who trips over noting in the middle of his school cafeteria." Mr. Stark told her, her eyes went red.
"I didn't trip over nothing, Eugene shook his foot out for me trip over. He's been tormenting me for years." I explained hoping to make Mr. Stark see his fault.
"Now you're lying to me?" He accused glaring at me. "If that's true then why didn't you tell me before hand? Convenient it only comes up now."
"I never told you because I could handle it. Didn't know it would lead to you being the ultimate back stabbing traitor." I growled at him finally standing my ground.
"Don't call me a traitor when you've just lied to my face. I want you out of my building and out of my life." Mr. Stark told me making Nat, once again, glare daggers at him.
"You're utterly delusional. You kick him out you loose me, no more black widow." Nat threatened standing right infront of Mr. Stark, challenging him.
"Fine, I've got everyone else on my side. Wish I could say you'll be missed." He told her smirking.
Next thing I know Nat grabbed my arm and bags before leading me out of the building. We walked passed Happy and Pepper who both stopped us to say sorry and promise that they'll speak to Tony. Nat told them not to bother as he won't change. Happy offered to drive us home but Mr. Stark called him to say that if he did he'd be fired. He still offered but I couldn't let him loose his job over me.
"I'm so sorry for this Peter. I tried to tell but he won't listen, I'll try and fix this I promise. You have my word and my number should you need it. He won't realise what he had until he lost it. You'll both be missed." Pepper sobbed as she hugged me tight, my surrogate mother.
"The offer of a ride still stands, he'll die without me and he knows it. If he fires me it's his loss." Happy told me placing a hand on my shoulder.
"No it's fine, you shouldn't be getting roped into this, this is my mess." I told me making everyone sigh.
"This is not your mess, it's Tony's and soon enough I'll make him clean it up. You have my word." Pepper promised before Mr. Stark walked up to us all.
"If you don't leave now I'll have security kick you out." He growled at me only making me want to cry in a corner somewhere. I've truly been abandoned by my only father figure.
"Fine, we're leaving." Happy said grabbing my shoulder and leading me and Nat out of the building. Did he just quit?
"Did you just quit?" I asked him.
"Yep." Was his short response. Dear God, what has this turned into?
"You'll never be hired again if you walk out those doors." Mr. Stark threatened.
"I'd rather live on the streets than work for you and that brat upstairs." Happy told him before we all walked out of the building.
"This is real. I've been abandoned." I spoke finally admitting it before breaking down into tears.
Nat quickly comforted me and we started to make our way back to my apartment. This is going to be fun to explain to Aunt May.
-2 months later-
It's been two months since Mr. Stark abandoned me and my life has taken an interesting turn. After a day or two everyone had found out about what had happened and boycotted anything to do with Mr. Stark. They never went to meetings, either towers, training sessions and even missions. Pepper left him the night he abandoned me. Mr Stark was truly alone except for Flash, many employees quit and his sales took a hard hit once word got out to the media. My name wasn't mentioned but Flash's was, this made my school life so much harder as Flash now believed he was some sort of celebrity.
Happy drove me to and from school everyday in his own car. He and my aunt had become really close over the past two months and I've started to have the suspicion that they may be dating. Probably. Nat barley left my side if it was necessary, she even sneaks around school sometimes just to make sure I'm okay, I'm far from it. School has become even more of a nightmare than it already was. Flash's taunting became worse and physical, most teachers turned a blind eye in fear of Mr. Stark. Ned and MJ left me after claiming that I was just pathetic, hard to disagree if I'm honest, and everyone of my teachers has become so much harder on me. Life just isn't good right now.
-Two years later-
Two years. Two years since the faithful night and life has become good. I graduated with great grades, despite me not having the best time in school in the past few years and teachers becoming extra tough on me. I passed with mostly As and A+s. after graduation I got a scholarship to Cal tech and started my courses. I plan to open my own business, not to spite Stark, as fun as that would be, but to help those in need. I want to start a company that focuses on helping to poor and improving their living conditions.
-Ten years later-
My company was a massive success. I make cheap but reliable electronics that not only help the poor improve their lives but most of the profits go to improving their lives in other ways. Just last month I traveled to Cambodia to a town full of people so poor they had to buy their houses on rivers because they couldn't afford land. It was eye opening and we helped so much, buying land for them, helping them build stable homes and facilities, building toilets and other necessities. I feel great with myself if I'm being honest.
I've also recently come out at Bisexual with the announcement of me and my boyfriends engagement, Wade Wilson also known as Deadpool. Life's good.
Also, Flash took over Stark industries but it's not been going well. He can't run a business or build a piece of tech to save his life, the sales have plummeted and they've had to lay of hundreds of people in the past month. Most of which, came to me. Now, let me make this clear, I did not start my company to spite Stark and try and beat him. I started it because people like him and Flash don't care about the people who have less of a say, I look out for the little guy. Always have and always will.
I still continue with my spider man work and have received countless awards for my work helping the little guy. Weather that be a common mugging or helping people escape war torn countries. I found a way to build more houses and have more land while also expanding the rain forest and saving the environment. I have dedicated my life to helping others, I made the decision when I was fifteen and ten years later I still stand my it.
-Five years later-
Stark Industries went bankrupt. Flash had run it into the ground with failed experiments and an attempt to bring back the weapons department but with my work, it wasn't necessary. There were no more wars to fight and weapons were seen as a thing of the past.
"Peter please I'm sorry. Flash manipulated me to believe that you were less of a person. Please, I've lost everything because of him." Stark begged, tears brimming his eyes as he as me for a job in my offices.
First he asked for CEO but me and Pepper handles those duties. Then it was Public Relations but Steve and Clint have those conceded. He went through all jobs only to find them to be taken by those he once called his friends. Currently he's begging for a low-level position but I was willing to give him a second chance. He's suffered enough over the past fifteen years.
"Okay, here's a deal. I'll invest back into Stark Industries but you have to promise to help people. No more Eugene or decisions made by yourself. I'll try and convince Pepper to work with you again but I can't promise anything. It's not completely your fault Eugene ran your company into the ground and I'm willing to help but you have to work with me. You have to promise to help people and the environment, look at what I've achieved." I said gesturing to the office building on the 40th floor of our main headquarters.
Over the past five years Pepper and I had made some excellent business decisions and our profits sky rocketed, we have buildings all over the world and I became one of the richest men in the world. I still give back and if anything, I've given more back in the past few years.
More money. More resources. More output. More help to those who need it. World poverty has dropped to less than 10%, an immaculate improvement to the 80% of fifteen years ago.
"I promise. I don't think I can tell you how happy I am Peter." Stark told him smiling like an idiot.
-Another ten years later-
We did it. The rainforests were saved. No animals were near extinction. Both my company and Stark Industries were on the map helping those who need it, not many now though. World Poverty was less than 0.5% of the population and soon to be eradicated. We saved the planet and the people on it but most importantly, we made a flying car. Life was good.

So I was looking through my docs and I found the original story for Careful, He Bites and He Bites series.
I got most of the way finished with it when I decided to take a different direction. But I figured I'd post this anyway for fun!
*-*
Tony still didn't like the thought of them being in the compound. But there was nothing he could do to get them out. It's not like he owns the building or anything.
It all started with Steve and his long lost best friend. After Steve and Natasha were attacked by the Winter Soldier -who was said best friend from 70 years ago- a manhunt ensued.
Tony stayed out of it. If Steve wanted to risk his life for the Winter Soldier, he could.
What Tony didn't expect was for Steve to actually find Bucky. Or bring along someone else.
Tony tried to steer clear of them. He let Banner and Steve and Natasha and whoever the fuck else handle the two supersoldiers currently living in the basement.
That is until someone came up from said basement with a nasty bite. The agent died before Banner found an anti-venom.
Thats when Tony decides to get involved. He doesn't know much about anti-venoms or biology, but he's a scientist and an inventor.
His first trip down to the basement is like stepping into a horror movie. The lights are dim, and there's soft classical music playing on a record Steve brought down.
There are two cells, built strong enough to keep Banner in. In the left, was the Winter Soldier. He was sitting on the floor, back to the wall, one leg stretched out in front of him, and the other bent to support his elbow.
His steely blue eyes flickered up to Tony and Banner, then drifted to Steve, who was smiling at him.
The cage to the right made Tony shiver. The right had spiderwebs on the ceiling, connected to the walls and bars. He could faintly make out the other super soldier laying on the webs like one would a hammock.
Neither soldier moved.
"Hey, Buck," Steve greeted, walking right up to the cage. "Wanted to introduce you to a friend of mine."
Bucky's eyes move from Steve to Tony silently. It makes Tony want to turn around and run back upstairs.
"This is Tony Stark."
Tony manages to dip his chin in a single nod.
"I know who he is," Bucky said, turning his attention back to Steve. "You think he can get rid of it?"
Tony wonders if 'it' is the other on the cage beside him. But he doesn't say anything.
"No, Tony's here to see the kid," Steve confessed. "But I've been talking with someone from Wakanda who said she'd be willing to take a look."
Tony understands now. The coding HYDRA had tortured into Bucky's head. Trigger words to bring the assassin to the surface. Steve had been talking with Princess Shuri.
"How long?" Bucky asked. Tony doesn't listen to Steve's reply, because there's movement coming from the other cell.
Tony steps a bit to the side as the other -hes barely a teenager- makes his way out of the sanctum of his webs.
He's wearing the same outfit as Bucky, tan and baggy with a zipper on the front. Hes small, and moves with all the grace of a spider who knows his way around a web.
He doesn't take his eyes off Tony as he crawls across the ceiling. Banner says something under his breath that sounds frightened and Tony's inclined to agree with him.
The boy drops his feet until he's hanging by just his fingers, and then he -somehow- lets go of the ceiling and lands on silent feet to the floor.
"Вы помните доктора Бэннера?" (Do you remember Dr. Banner?) Bucky spoke in perfect Russian.
Tony watched wide brown eyes flicker to Banner, then return to Tony. Its eery. Its saying something when Tony Stark feels uncomfortable with the attention.
"кто он?" (Who is he?) The boy asked, tilting his head slowly to the side. He does so chin first, making him seem less human and more demonic horror movie villain.
"Тони Старк.  Железный человек," (Tony Stark. The Ironman)
Whatever Bucky responds with has the boy smiling, and Tony finally gets a decent look at a pair of finely pointed fangs.
"Он симпатичный," (He's pretty) he responds.
Bucky rolls his eyes. "His name is Peter," he says, finally looking at Tony. "Don't get too close, he bites."
Peter grins before pressing against the bars of the cage, arms resting through the slats between.
"You ruin my fun, Winter," Peter hums, and Tony wasn't sure why he was expecting the boy to have a Russian or German accent. He sounded like Bucky and Steve. New Yorker.
Those dark brown eyes move back to Tony, bright with mischief.
"You're here to see me?" He asked, the picture of innocence, even as he licks at his teeth, tongue rolling over the two points of his fangs.
They protrude just enough to be noticeable, but they're small, dainty and unassuming. Tony knew not to underestimate their punch.
"You put one of my guys in the ground," Tony said after clearing his throat.
Instantly, the smile dropped, and all innocence left the boy, leaving him looking cold and dangerous.
"Oh you can't be upset about that, Mr. Stark," Peter sighs, and Tony tries very hard to ignore how Peter calling him Mr. Stark does things to him.
But the boy's eyes are shining in amusement. Tony clears his throat.
"I can, actually," Tony said. "I'd like to get a few samples from you, run a few tests."
"Они такие же, как HYDRA," (they're just like HYDRA) Peter sneers, features darkening as he spins around, turning his back to Tony and Banner.
"ты убил одного из них," (you did kill one of them) Bucky responds. "что вы ожидали?" (What did you expect?)
Peter doesn't respond, just climbs the wall -cause thats normal- and disappears into his webbed cocoon.
"What was that about?" Banner asked, making his way to Bucky's side of the room quickly.
Bucky sighed and ran a hand through his dark hair.
"HYDRA isn't a nice place for people like Peter," was all he said.
Tony sighed and glanced at Banner. Silent communication was their thing, and it wasn't long before they were both on the same page.
If they couldn't run tests and get an anti-venom, they'd have to just remove the venom entirely.
It took three days of Tony and Banner researching the surgical procedure of removing venomous glands from snakes and spiders. Tony did some digging on tonsil removal -they still didn't know where the glands were, but between the two of them, Tony was confident they could perform the surgery successfully.
Two days before the surgery, Bucky was taken to Wakanda to undergo his own corrective surgery of sorts.
Peter had a tantrum.
Tony could hear Peter all the way from his lab, and after an hour he finally dropped what he was doing and stormed down stairs.
Peter was glaring, his eyes were shining with unshed tears and his arms were bleeding from self inflicted bite marks.
"Bring him back," Peter demanded, voice raw from the shouting and threatening. "Bring him back, right now!"
"Thats not going to happen, Peter," Tony said, shaking his head. Peter slammed his palm against the metal bars on a shout that nearly made Tony take a step back.
Peter spun around, fisting at his hair. Tony frowned at how Peter paced the cage, agitated and angry.
"Where did you take him."
"Steve took him to Wakanda-"
"Dont fucking lie to me," Peter snapped, spinning back around to face him. His upper lip was pulled back in a snarl, showing off glinting fangs. He snapped his teeth together once before pacing again.
"I'm not lying," Tony said, wincing when Peter bit into the meat of his own thumb.
"Bring him back."
"Hes already on a plane," Tony sighed. "This is good for him, Peter. He needs this."
Peter bit down on his hand again. Tony sighed. "You're going to hurt yourself."
"I'll heal," Peter growled. "I want Winter."
"He'll come back when his mind is free from whatever it is HYDRA did to him."
Peter sets his jaw and glares.

You Just Think You Love Me (3/7) Fact: Pidgeons can smell
“Agent Sterling! How can I help you?"
Lance smiled with his smile number two. "I'm looking for Walter. Do you know where he is, Martin?"
"Walter is in lab four. He's working on something dangerous."
He looked around the shared lab, where something exploded or ignited every now and then. "Of course, I understand. Thanks, Martin!"
"You’re welcome, Mr. Sterling ..."
But Lance was leaving already. Armed with a practiced number one smile, he walked through the corridors, his face completely calm. He’s going to do it today. He’s asking Walter on a date today. Maybe he'll turn him down. It does not matter. Nothing will change. They will stay friends. Everything will be fine. Everything will be alright. Everything will be fine.
(links to ao3 and wattpad)
He knocked on the lab door and entered the decontamination room when invited. He closed his eyes and let himself be sprayed with this and blown dry with that. When the green light came on, he continued. Along the way, he waved at the guy in the control room, who was in charge of the whole process. Then, he finally entered the lab looking as confident and normal as possible.
"Hi, Lance, what brings you here? It's great that you came!” Walter welcomed him and then followed with? "I have tested the new gadget I told you about. The one that helps you to get the bad guys on your side. You know, to make them trust you and after that to love you, to entrust their secrets, maybe even to persuade them to change careers. Wait…” He studied Lance carefully. "What's going on?"
He looked at him confused. "What, what should be going on?"
"You look ... pale. Is something wrong?"
"No." He shook his head quickly and exchanged the smile for a smaller and perhaps more plausible one. "I'm just a little tired, that's all. Tell me, what are your plans for tonight?"
"You really don't look well. What about my calming pillow, does it work? And wait, you didn’t have the canteen bread, did you? I'm sure it's not gluten-free, and you still have an upset digestive system because of the transformations."
"I'm fine. And the cushion works well, really. I sleep much better now.“ Lance waved his hand and tried not to pay any attention to his pounding heart. He should get himself together, for god sake!
"Okay. So, this one is done. Do you want to see it?"
He looked at Walter, who almost vibrated with enthusiasm. Was it just his imagination, or did his eyes shine? He smiled at him. "Yeah, I'd love to."
"Okay." He clapped and took a gray marble from a bowl. Although, when Lance looked at it properly, it seemed to bend slightly under the fingertips. "This is a mixture of gases and fragrant essences that directly affect the frontal lobe. And it works even when you have a cold. So we will not repeat Alaska again.“
Lance laughed softly. "That’s good. But we managed to slip out smoothly."
Walter pointed the ball at him. "You got out smoothly. I slid, and I still have bruises on my ass. I can’t believe it worked out. It was the weirdest fourth of July in my life.“
He raised an eyebrow. "Team Weird?"
Walter nodded with a smile. "Team Weird."
Is it just him, or do they look into each other’s eyes longer, than friends would?
It must have been longer than friends would look into each other’s eyes.
It was longer than friends would look unto each other’s eyes.
He made himself look at the gray ball.
Walter cleared his throat. "Um… yeah, so… Sure. Frontal lobe. Yeah. This," he pointed at the marble again, “will burst, and the air will release the scent. It's not very conspicuous, but it should be strong enough. I still plan on making it into a perfume that you can always wear. Just need to figure out how to give you immunity. It is a combination of our good old lavender with vanilla and sandalwood. Perfect for discovering any secrets and making best friends.”
He handed him the ball and put on a respirator. "Whenever you're ready, burst it."
He measured him suspiciously. "Why are you taking it?"
"Because I've been breathing it for a month, and when I overdose, I cuddle."
That wouldn't be so bad. He made himself look at the tiny ball in his hand. He took a deep breath.
"Wait!" Walter stopped him.
"What?"
He put on Lance an electrode cap and looked at his watch. "Go ahead."
Lance squeezed the ball between his fingers. It burst but nothing happened.
He frowned and looked at Walter.
"You have to wait. Breath in," he said muffled.
Lance listened. He smelled a faint scent. Smiled. It smelled nice. It reminded him of something…
"It works!" Walter cheered, watching Lance's brainwaves. "According to this, you are calmer and happier, aren't you?"
"Yeah," Lance smiled and took another deep breath. He felt calmer. He was fine. "Walter?"
"Yeah, Lance?"
"When we're done here, would you go on a date with me? Or in the evening? A film, dinner, or a walk through the art gallery sculpture park?”
Walter paled. "Oh no…"
The pleasant feeling was gone. Maybe he just didn't like the choices… “You don't want to go to the park? They still have summer opening hours, and you've said several times that you'd like to look at the statues. Or we can go to that cinema. We will find some with Korean movies… "
Walter was typing something furiously on his watch. "Not that."
Lance fell silent. He took off his cap and laid it on the table. Just calm down, nothing changes. "Okay, then no. It was just an idea.” He turned and smiled again. "Forget it."
"This is bad. This is very bad.“
Why doesn't he feel anything? Shouldn't it be sadder? He can't be in shock because of this.
"Hey, calm down." Lance wanted to put his hand on his shoulder, but then he changed his mind. "No need to make a fuss about it. Forget it. I have a meeting with the boss and then I have some other plans, so I'll see you tomorrow."
"Lance, wait!"
He changed his mind! "Yeah?"
"You have to stay here. This is science! I screwed it up! I'm so sorry, I don't know how, but I screwed up."
He shook his head and swallowed down the disappointment. "It’s cool. Don't think about it anymore. See you tomorrow."
"No, you don't understand! The scent was too strong! I didn’t plan it.” He shrank. "Are you mad?"
He sighed and rubbed the spot where the cap had pressed him a little. "No, I'm not angry. And you didn't screw it up. I feel good."
"Exactly. You feel too well. And it's my fault! I didn't mean to, but I promise I'll fix it! "
"Walter, calm down and tell me exactly what happened. Breathe.“
Walter sat down on a barstool and took several breaths. Then he began to explain: "The scent is to make the enemy your best friend. But I didn't expect what he would do to a best friend.” He looked at Lance and widened his big blue eyes. "I think I did create by mistake… you can call it a love potion."
Lance burst out laughing. "A love potion? What are you talking about?"
"You…" he pointed at Lance, searching for the words.
"I," he pointed at himself with his thumb, "am not under the influence of any love potion."
"But you invited me to dinner."
He gritted his teeth and nodded. "Exactly."
"Because you're under the influence of a love potion!" Walter insisted. "But don't worry, this should go away soon."
"No, I invited you because I love you, and it did not go away in months!" Well, the cat was out of the bag.
"You think you like me because of the smell. That is all. There is nothing more.“
He opened his mouth to argue. Closed it with a click. If Walter needs to believe it… Now he gets it. Walter is not interested in Lance. It gives Lance a chance to back off while both of them save their faces. It saves their friendship. He nodded. "All right. If you’re right… I'll take time off and go home. I'll try to sleep it off. If you came up with something or figure out how to speed the process up, let me know.“
"Okay," Walter nodded with relief. "Take care of yourself, alright?"
Lance smiled and ruffled his hair. As he always does. He can still do that, can't he? "Sure thing."
He went through the decontamination room, then the whole agency. Responded to the greetings of others out of reflex. The smile number three plastered on his face. He turned into a pigeon and flew away. How much rum and whiskey does he still have at home?
Probably not enough.

Natasha wanted things to go back to how they were with Steve before the Accords and before her miscarriage. There was a part of her that felt like she was betraying Alexei, Melina, and Yelena by loving Steve, but the other side wanted to retire from the spy life. Wanted to retire from everything. She was tired of the jobs, of keeping secrets from the people she considered family. She didn't even hate Bucky or resent him anymore, unlike Alexei, Yelena, and Melina. She just wanted Steve and the rest of this to go away. She wanted life to feel remotely normal again. She didn't want to lie anymore to any of them. Everyone had been lied too so much. She was only added onto the drama. Natasha ran herself a bath, pouring in her jasmine scented bubble bath, mixing it with the water. She sighed tiredly, trying to settle into the water, when she felt her phone vibrate. As she looked at it, she saw it was a text message from Melina. 'I need to talk to you, Alexei and Yelena tomorrow in Zagreb, Croatia urgently. It's about her!' The text message said cryptically. Natasha felt a sense of dread wash over her at the text. 'I'll need to make an excuse to Steve, Tony, and the others first,' she texted quickly. Melina replied four minutes later. 'We are your family, Natalia, not them!' Melina had messaged back furiously. Natasha closed her in frustration, breaking down in tears at her dilemma.

"Whoever hired that team to assassinate the mystery girl really wants her dead. Tell Barnes and Carter to get a blood sample from her so we can test it for DNA. Maybe she's in the international database," Fury recommended sternly. Everyone nodded but Tony shook his head. "We need to send someone else to watch over Barnes, Fury. I personally believe that he's compromised. His judgement is skewed because he's convinced that this girl might be the dead girl from the files. Who knows what he might have done with her if she was in the Red Room," Tony insisted harshly, causing most of the people to look at him in disapproval. "We can't send Belova or Romanoff? They've been sent on a mission in Zagreb, Croatia to track down a few remaining Flag Smashers. Who else can we send?" Grant asked quietly, his face bruised from his fight with a Flag Smasher during a mission in London, Great Britain. "Send in Steve. He's become really good at working undercover and Bucky trusts him," Sam suggested diplomatically. It couldn't be him, seeing as the Smiling Tiger was in Madripoor. Ross had an expression of disdain, while Tony was cold but grudgingly agreed to the arrangement. "Try not to mess up, Capsicle," Tony said coldly, before walking out of the conference room. Steve sighs a bit before nodding. "I can do that. I'm sure Bucky hasn't gotten super far. I could help him out together."
Tumblr media
Morgan Stark was determined to make her daddy happy. He'd been sad ever since Captain America's best friend, Bucky Barnes, had been pardoned by the government and found not guilty at his trial. Her dad had gone into a rage, shouting that Barnes was a monster and anyone on Steve's side was to blame for Thanos winning. So she was going to somehow make him smile again. She was going to build an AI, like he did. She already had a name picked out for him as well. Her dad had explained to her that he had created Ultron to protect the world. Maybe she could do that again, and somehow bring him back to make not only her daddy happy but the world happy. All she knew was that she was tired of hearing him fighting all the time with the Avengers and she wanted to somehow change that. Maybe a new Ultron could do that? She had found his memory core not that long ago. Maybe if she followed his blueprints from years ago…she could, do it? She didn't want any more arguing or yelling…all she wanted was for this to end. So that was that. She was going to do it. One way or another. Daddy had a lab always near him. It would be the perfect time to do it. Maybe they could finally figure out how to end all the fighting. Maybe she'll be the cause of it. Daddy would be happy. They would see they were wrong about him. Somehow.
Tumblr media
When Steve had arrived in Madripoor, it looked the same as it always had from before, with bright lights and big neon signs drawing in anyone from a mile away. However, his eyes were more focused on trying to get to Bucky's place. He had talked with Sharon about where to go and she had directed him willingly, leading him towards midtown where a lot of the higher ups in the crime world lived. It was also where the mystery woman lived, apparently. Hopefully they would be able to get through to this quickly. He had knocked on the door, and for a moment there was silence. He had been expecting that, considering Bucky was most certainly not expecting anyone to come by and greet him. But he slowly opened the door, and when he saw it was Steve his eyes widened.
"Where the hell did you come from?" He asks as he lets him in, giving him an embrace. When Steve stepped back, he closes the door behind him, turning to Bucky. "Lot has happened at the base while you were gone," Steve states with a raised brow. "I'm not longer in charge of the Avengers. Ross gave it to Tony." Bucky's brow raises. "You're serious?" "He did. They were upset about our choice in operation of sending you here." Bucky lets out a long sigh, going to sit on the couch at that. "We defended you the best we could, but at the end of the day, they had the last call. Sam suggested I come over here to fill out their needs." Bucky's brow raises once more. "Which are?" "Keep an eye on you." Bucky feels himself groan before standing. "How the hell am I ever going to be an Avenger in their eyes?" He asks, his voice rising a bit in anger. "Everything I do now, even after all the amends and everything I've done, it'll never work…all I want is to prove myself. I know I'm a piece of shit but…I'm fucking trying." "I know you are, Buck," Steve says gently, letting his hands rest on the man's shoulders. "I know you are. And trust me, we all see it. There are some that are just stuck in their ways that I don't believe are going to change soon. Those are the ones that, when they do inevitably open their eyes, they'll see the most change in you." Bucky snorts a bit. "That one of your little political speeches?" he asks. "No," Steve answers, shaking his head. "Trust me, I highly doubt I'm going to be doing much more than you are here. If anything, while I know how to stay undercover, if I get recognized here, it's game over." He gestures to you. "At least with you, not a lot of people know your face. Even this girl doesn't." He glances over at Bucky's hands and notices there seemed to be dried blood on it. "Speaking of that…" Bucky glances down at his hand and feels his cheeks turn red. "It's not on me, I swear – Maria wanted to interrogate the men that came, and she ended up killing them. Turns out they were sent by a woman named Melina Vostokoff. She wants to end the woman for some reason." "Well, we knew about the attack but your…hands?" Bucky sighs a bit. "I went over to help her a couple of days ago after she was attacked. Try and get more info on her. I guess I just didn't clean off all the blood afterwards." He looks up at Steve and shakes his head. "She is a mystery woman…definitely likes to keep her identity a secret." Steve nods before going to sit down next to him. "I want to ask you a question, and just respond the best you can." Bucky nods. "Are you sure that you don't know her from back then?" Bucky sighs, swallowing a bit. "I…feel like I do." He glances back at Steve. "If you saw the way she moves, and what she had – I mean, she's like a carbon copy of Nat but she's ruthless. She even had some of the same weapons. She had to be trained in Red Room…but I can't recall her for the life of me. That's why I'm trying so hard to figure out if she's truly Ana or not. Maria seems like a reasonable name but…don't know." Steve nods quietly. "Didn't you and Nat have a thing back when you were there?" Bucky quietly nods. He didn't like to think about it often. There was so much pain involved in everything there. "Do you think you might have known this girl like that?" "I genuinely can't remember," Bucky answers honestly, glancing at him. "At this point, all I'm looking for is for some way to figure out if she's truly who she says she is. Maybe after I can search more." Steve sighs but nods. "We got a lot of work ahead of us, then."

Natasha had waited patiently, her arms crossed against her chest with Yelena. It seemed it would take hours for Melina and Alexei to arrive, but when they did, it felt like ages. "You two are worse on time than I am, and that's say something," Yelena mutters. "Quiet, you two," Melina states, looking between them. "We have a serious problem, and I believe you two know what it is."
Natasha and Yelena exchange an uneasy glance, as they look at Alexei who thankfully didn't know what was going on. If he found out Melina had been lying to him for all these years then things would get bloody. "Why did you call me here, Melina?" Alexei asked suspiciously. He hadn't aged well, and it was clearly showing. Despite having the Super-Soldier, it was a far weaker version than the one Bucky and Steve had running through their veins. The woman ignored him as she drank from her glass of red wine, her eyes cold and emotionless. Sometimes Natasha wondered if the woman did genuinely care about her and Yelena, like Alexei did, or if she was just using them. "I believe that despite our best efforts to purge the Red Room, it still exists. Over in Madripoor, a young woman killed the Power Broker, before taking over the city. She's killed several people who tried to break the new rules she implemented as some shot way of a moral code. I refused to acknowledge the bitch, and I tried to kill her…but she defeated me," she said sourly, a hint of bitterness in her voice. "What did you do, Melina?" Natasha asked warningly, praying that the woman hadn't compromised Bucky. If she had, then Steve would go ballistic and raise hell if Bucky were hurt. Not to mention the others. Her surrogate mother regarded her with a cold expression that would have terrified anyone else. But she wasn't frightened of her anymore, not after seeing what she was afraid of. "I hired a death squadron to kill the little whore. She won't survive against them," Melina said confidently, causing Natasha to stare at the woman in shock, before her gaze breaks. Fuck. She had enough and was about to leave, when Melina grabbed her right wrist in a tight grip. "Remember where your true loyalties are, Natasha. I don't want you to end up like her…who chose HIM over us," Melina said meaningfully, her grip tight. Natasha nodded coldly, ripping her arm away and started walking back to her car, refusing to be intimidated. 'What have I done, god?' She thought bitterly, climbing into her car, and turning on the heating.

Ana had cleaned up her apartment after she disposed of the bodies. She had dumped Diego's body in Low Town, knowing that someone would post it on the internet. The other three remaining bodies had been dealt with. She hated the Red Room and what they had done to her. but at the very least the teachers knew how to teach all of them in how to dispose of a corpse after killing the individual. She used a luminal torch to see if any bloodstains remained, relieved when she didn't see any. Despite being near people, she desperately wanted a few furry companions. She needed something to keep her company, other than the people she would meet. She wasn't naïve. Ana knew that they would be targets but she wouldn't let anyone hurt them. She was going to ask X-Con Security Consultants if they would be willing to install security at her house. She decided to take a shower and rest up for the night. She wasn't taking any chances now, considering that Melina had tried to kill her twice now. The older woman still thought she was the same, useless, naive, and helpless little girl all those years ago. She sighed heavily as she trudged upstairs, taking off her bloody, filthy clothes and threw them on the floor. There was no salvaging them. She'd burn the clothes tomorrow. She stepped into the en suite bathroom, turning on the hot water, as she looked at herself in the full body mirror. Scars decorated her body, mainly on her chest, her right arm and some were on her back, and left leg.
Bullet wounds, knife wounds and there was a faded scar on her stomach. She touched it hesitantly, feeling a strange sense of heartache and loss for no apparent reason.

Bucky had gone into the Brass Monkey club, taking Steve with him as they saw Sharon was there. She gestured for them to join her, as they went to a table at the back, where they wouldn't be disturbed. "So, I did some asking around and apparently the woman calling herself Maria Kapitonova is using another woman's name. This is the real Maria Kapitonova. And she's been dead for the last six years, Bucky and Steve." Sharon explained grimly, showing them a photo of a young woman with red hair, brown eyes, and a scar on her throat. Bucky had known that the woman was using a false identity, but this just proved it. Deep down, he knew that she closely resembled Anastasia. Maybe they were related? "So, she's using the identity of a dead woman whose been dead for the last six years. What else have you got, Sharon?" Steve asked intrigued. They were finally getting a fresh lead. "Yeah, I was hoping you'd ask me that question. I did some digging, and Fury emailed me these files that he and Hill found at an abandoned HYDRA base in Voronezh, Voronezh Oblast. Turns out, HYDRA and the Red Room were both working closely together on a project," she said meaningfully. "Something we should talk about elsewhere." Bucky and Steve got her point and left with her to go to her house, leaving behind the bar. Once they arrived, Sharon continued from where she left off, and handed them copies of the files, closing the door behind her. "The Red Room and HYDRA discovered that the girls at the Red Room who had the Super-Soldier serum were far more able to carry a child of the Winter Soldiers. There are lists of names who were chosen for the program. The project began in the 1990′s, and a lot of the pregnancies resulted in the women dying from complications due to the babies developing quicker than a normal baby," Sharon explained gravely as Bucky read the file. He recognized a few of the names, but felt his blood run cold when his eyes drifted to two familiar names. 'Red Guardian and Black Widow - viable pregnancy. Scans confirm that Vostokoff is carrying twin daughters. No complications detected so far into the pregnancy. Vostokoff has confirmed that she has suffered no cramping, or any sign of miscarriage.' "Holy shit, Steve. What if Alexei and Melina were the parents of Anastasia and her twin sister?" He asked quietly. Steve's expression was of grimness and concern. "That's more than likely, but Natasha never mentioned that Alexei and Melina had kids," Steve said hesitantly. Bucky knew the man didn't want to think Natasha had lied to him again. "There's more. On the second page, according to Dr Lyudmila Kudrin, only three women survived carrying the pregnancies to full term. Vostokoff ended up giving birth on June 18, 1995. It says here that she delivered two twin girls," Sharon said wearily, causing Bucky to frown. Bucky read more of the file, feeling his stomach roll in disgust, seeing that the project had been a partial success. They had put the project on hold in order to try and create more of the Super-Soldier Serum. He felt a cold sensation run down his spine, as he thought of Ana then. Maybe she was Alexei and Melina's daughter…possibly.

When the rest of the team had heard back later on what Sharon had discovered regarding the mystery woman, that had sent them on a trip to try and figure out who exactly her family was. Having Sharon reveal that there was actually a twin sister to the girl was an amazing lead. So, one of the Avengers took it into her own hands once she heard that – namely, Wanda. She knew what it was like to lose a twin, and if the young woman that they were looking after really did lose one, there was most likely a hole there that would never be filled. The least she could do is find out if they were right.
After that, they had searched all over the internet, from typical shit to the dark web, trying to see if they could find some sort of league to get them in the right direction. And soon, it wasn't long before they discovered something. The last name Liukin was associated with a Russian cemetery. Instantly, Wanda had assembled the team to fly to where it was, Fury agreeing to it nonetheless considering that it was for a mission. Thankfully the quinjet was quick enough to get them there a little faster than the normal airtime. Even so, arriving had Wanda shaking to see if this was real. They had showed up to the cemetery, stepping in and searching for her name. And it wasn't long before they did find it. Wanda had stood in front of it for a moment, feeling Clint let a hand rest against her shoulder. 'Angelina Aleksandrovna Liukin.' This was it. This was the twin. They were right. They had looked all over to see if there was even a possibility of another Liukin, but funnily, there were none under the names they were looking for. It was mainly strong Russian names that had been attached to it. "I can't believe it," she whispers, looking down at the grave, kneeling down. "There's a lot more to this woman than we realize…she was buried so deep." Clint sighs softly before nodding. "Sometimes that's the case with these things, but…this is good in a way." Wanda looks up to him. "Now that we know for sure that she exists, we have a DNA match-up. She is most likely in the International Data Base if she was dead. We were able to find her originally. If we can somehow get a blood sample from Maria, we can see if she's really Ana or not." Wanda stands, pulling her jacket around her tightly. It was still freezing cold here. "Don't you think that's a bit…sketchy? I mean both Steve and Bucky are there. I don't know how they're going to just get a blood sample off of her." "I'm sure they can figure it out," Clint assures. "We have two of the best super-soldiers in the world. They're not that dumb." "They're also not that smart," Wanda mutters. "True," Clint chuckles before helping her stand. "Come on, let's take some pictures and get this to Fury."
Tumblr media
As had been expected, they had gotten the proof to Fury as quickly as possible of the life of Angelina. And as they had expected, Fury had requested to Bucky not that long after to somehow get a blood sample from the mystery woman. To which both Bucky and Steve had sat down for hours, trying to figure out the best way to do so. Because who can just…do that? Eventually, though, they had settled on something that might spurt up one. "How about you just take her out on a date?" Bucky's brow raises in response. "You're serious?" "Yeah, why not? I mean, there's a high probability that you'll most likely get attacked because she has so many bounty's out for her right now. It's the best option you have that's legal in our eyes." He shrugs a bit. "Or you can just attack her mysteriously." "No," Bucky instantly states. His quick response surprised Steve a bit. "I mean, I…I don't want to hurt her more than she's already been hurt. You can tell from a mile away that she has gone through some shit." "Okay…don't worry, we won't do that," Steve reassures him, rubbing his back. "But we still need to get that sample, one way or another…I believe you'll be able to do it" Bucky sighs a bit before glancing up at him. "I haven't been on a date since the 1940′s." Steve snickers. "I think you'll be fine."
Tumblr media
After their conversation, it wasn't long before Bucky had asked Maria to come with him on a date, something he had surprisingly been quite nervous to do. Again, it had been so long since he had done something like this, but he knew that it was needed for what they were planning on doing. And she had agreed after a little bit, deciding that they would head out to a smaller restaurant in Madripoor, one that wouldn't attract so much attention. When he had come to pick her up at her apartment, he had waited downstairs for her to come. When she arrived, he felt his mouth drop slightly. You know, it was getting really damn hard to do this mission when the subject was so goddamn gorgeous.

“You’re all done!” You exclaimed, patting one of your patient’s back as you wrapped up the bandage. “Remember to not put too much pressure or overwork your arm otherwise it won’t heal properly. Please contact the hospital if you have any other abnormal pains.”
The young woman smiled and nodded. “Thank you, Bakugou-san. No wonder you’re so famous!”
You smiled and thanked the woman as she exited the room. Your nursing assistance, Hana, walked into the room, holding her clipboard of all of your appointments in hand. “Hana, do I have any more appointments?”
Hana looked down at the clipboard, shaking her head. “No, you’re clear for the afternoon.”
You nodded, thanking her and pulled your phone out from your pocket as you walked out into the hallway. There were numerous missed calls from Aldera Junior High, Katsuo’s school. A sigh escaped your lips, already knowing that the meaning of the call couldn’t be good. You dialed the phone number and called back.
“Hello, this is the office of Aldera Junior High, how can I help you?” A man’s voice asked from the other line.
“Hi, my name is Bakugou Y/N and I was just calling back after receiving some missed calls from this number.”
“Oh, Bakugou-san! Let me redirect you to Principal Hirai. She will answer your call shortly.” The line was momentarily cut off until you were redirected to the principal’s phone.
“Hello, this Principal Hirai. Is this Bakugou-san?”
“Yes, it is. Sorry about not answering your previous calls. I had a few appointments to take care of at the hospital here.” You took off your white lab coat and sat down in your office.
“No worries, I understand how busy and hard you work. I called because there was an… incident here.”
You furrowed your brows. “Incident? Is it about Katsuo? Is he okay?”
“He’s fine but he did get into a fight with another student here. His mother is here in my office now and I would like you to come as well. I tried calling your husband but he is currently on duty so that’s why I called you,” Principal Hirai said.
“I understand. I’ll get there as soon as I can.” You hung up, setting your phone down on the table. Your fingertips rubbed small circles into your temples as you could feel a migraine forming. Katsuo, despite being a carbon copy of his father, had your temperament, making him calmer and less aggressive than his father. That was why you were shocked to find out he had gotten into a fight, something that is not in his character.
You grabbed your coat, phone, and bag, approaching the front desk of the hospital. “Hana, call me if I get any other appointments. I’m taking my lunch break early.”
Hana nodded, waving good-bye to you as you made your way to your car and Aldera Junior High.
***
The doors were light as you pushed open the doors to the main office of the school. A man, most likely the one who you were on the phone with, greeted you. “Bakugou-san? You can take a seat right there. Principal Hirai will be right with you.”
You nodded, looking over to where he was gesturing. In the seats was your son who had a tissue in his right nostril to stop the bleeding as well as a bruise on his right cheek. He looked up at you, his crimson eyes widening at the sight of you. “Mom!”
You sighed, walking over and sitting down next to him. You cupped his face in your hands, examining his face. “You don’t look too beaten up but that bruise will take a few days, maybe weeks, to heal.”
Katsuo looked at you with a puzzled expression. “So… you’re not upset?”
“Of course I’m upset!” You exclaimed. “Why would you get into a fight, Katsuo? It’s not like you to do something like this.”
Katsuo scoffed in a manner similar to Bakugou himself. “That bastard Watanabe is a piece of shit.”
You felt your eye twitch at the sound of your son cursing, normally reprimanding him for doing so but deciding not to now since he seemed so upset. “He was picking on a kid in class for not showing him the answers on the test so I just wanted to tell him off for picking on someone like that. But then he started getting all pissy, talking about me being shitty for not having a quirk and then he…”
Katsuo looked over at you, looking away after his eyes met yours. “Then he what, Suo?”
Katsuo sighed, looking down at his hands. “He started saying that I’m probably quirkless ‘cause ‘my bitch of a mother’s shit quirk was too weak to pass on’ and that it was ‘her fault for making such a fucked up kid.’”
Katsuo looked back up at you, holding your hands in his. “But your quirk is so cool, Mom! No one else thinks it’s shitty or anything! Everyone thinks that you’re amazing for protecting and saving so many people and they all admire you for it! I admire you for it! Even if you aren’t a pro, you’re my hero, Mom.”
You smiled at him, raising your hand up and caressing his blonde hair down. “When did I get such a sweet and caring son? You didn’t have to say anything, Suo, I’m proud of you for sticking up for your classmate.”
He smiled back at you, looking over to see the man at the front desk smiling at the sight of a mother comforting her son. Katsuo blushed, rubbing his neck. “I-It was nothing, Mom.”
The door labelled ‘PRINCIPAL’ in black, bold letters, opened up. Principal Hirai gestured at the two of you to come in and you both got up to enter her office. Inside was an older woman and a young boy, who was even more beat up than Katsuo with a large band aid covering the bridge of his nose as well as a black eye. It seemed like even quirkless Katsuo was capable of showing his strength and protecting himself. Katsuo sat down on the chair next to Watanabe and you sat beside your son.
Principal Hirari sighed, folding her hands together on the desk. “Thank you both for being able to come here today, especially you, Y/N, with your busy schedule.”
The mother scoffed, crossing her arms. “What? Being a little doctor means she gets more praise than me?”
“No, not at all, Aiko. But let me get to why I had you come here in the first place. From what I’ve heard from Mashiho, he was minding his business when Katsuo came over and kept initiating a fight. Then he punched his face, forcing Mashiho to have to fight back.”
Katsuo stood up from his seat, eyes widened and teeth clenched together in anger. “You liar! You threw the first punch! And you were the one who kept picking on Asahi!”
Watanabe rolled his eyes at him. “I didn’t do any of that, Principal Hirai. Who are you going to believe: the kid with respectable parents or the brat with a sad excuse of a father who uses his aggressive behavior to call himself a hero?”
Katsuo grabbed Watanabe by the collar, pulling him up to his feet. “I dare you to say that again, you fucking piece of shit.”
You stood up, pulling Katsuo back and making him sit back down. “That’s enough, boys. I’ve heard enough,” Principal Hirai said.
Aiko began comforting her son in her arms. “Oh, my poor baby! Hirai, as you can clearly see, that barbaric kid is the one responsible for all of this! But you can’t blame the kid for being like that, since his parents can barely take care of one kid, let alone two. I mean how many times has that behemoth of a hero caused damage to the press. He’s better off being a villain than a hero if you ask me.”
Your hands clenched into fists. “Good thing no one was asking you, ‘cause the next time you even think about insulting my son or my husband in front of me will be your last.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” Principal Hirai commanded. “It’s clear to me what happened.”
“Good, so I’m glad that that brat will be taken care of,” Aiko huffed.
“No, the exact opposite will be happening,” Principal Hirai said, eyeing Aiko. She looked over at Katsuo, smiling. “Katsuo has never gotten into this kind of trouble. Nor have I ever gotten complaints about him from the teachers. In fact, they say that he will most likely be the valedictorian for this year’s class. I only expect good things from him and I can see that you and your husband have done an excellent job raising him and Suki, who also is doing well in her classes here. I also want to thank you and your husband for everything you do for the people and so selflessly as well.”
You smiled, bowing your head at her. “Thank you for your kind words and taking care of my kids, too.”
Principal Hirai nodded, her smile disappearing as she looked at Watanabe. “Mashiho, on the other hand has caused more trouble than any other child in this building. There have been numerous cases where he has bothered other students for his benefit. I’m sure that if Katsuo didn’t step up and defend his classmate, Watanabe would have continued this behavior. Therefore, I’ve decided to suspend Watanabe for three weeks.”
Aiko and Watanabe stared at Principal Hirai with wide eyes and they both jumped out of their chairs. “This is outrageous! Look at my baby, look at how beat up he is because of that little shit!”
Principal Hirai looked at Aiko with disgust. “I also advise you, Aiko, to learn some manners as well because I won’t allow any adult to address my students as ‘little shits.’ I won’t be changing my mind. Please leave my office and do not return.”
Aiko, who was enraged, got up and grabbed her purse in one hand and her son in the other as she stormed out the door, cursing as she did so. Katsuo snickered and you nudged his leg to make him stop. Principal Hirai sighed, rubbing her forehead. “I really do apologize for making you come all the way here for such a nuisance. I’m sorry to you, too, Katsuo for having to deal with this.”
Katsuo grinned at her. “It’s nothing. If I’m being honest, I only fought back ‘cause he talked shi– I mean bad about my mom.”
You ruffled his hair, bowing and thanking the principal. “Thank you so much. If it’s alright, I’d like to sign Katsuo out for the rest of the day.”
Principal Hirai nodded. “You can sign Suki out as well as my way of showing my thanks for everything you and Ground Zero do for the world.”
You and Katsuo thanked her once again, going out into the office and having the man at the desk call Suki’s teacher to have her come down. Suki was your daughter, two years younger than Katsuo. Unlike her older brother, she had inherited your healing quirk. The difference was that she inherited Bakugou’s special sweat where she is able to heal using her sweat. Although she still can’t use it to the best of her abilities, she does try and train it as best as she can.
As you signed your children out, Suki opened the doors with a large grin on her face, most likely due to the fact that she got to leave early which was practically every child’s dream. She made a face once she saw her brother’s bruises. “God, what happened to you?”
Katsuo rolled his eyes at his little sister. “I’ll tell you later.”
***
“And then, I used just one drop of my sweat and it healed her paper cut! Isn’t that great, Mom? I’m showing so much progress!” Suki said, her face lit up with excitement as she latched her arm around yours.
Katsuo scoffed. “Aren’t you supposed to be able to do more? You’re in sixth grade now and that’s all you can do?”
You nudged Katsuo’s side. “Progress is still progress. I’m proud of you, Suki.”
Suki grinned at you, sticking her tongue out at her brother. Katsuo flipped her off when you weren’t looking. It was bright outside, the sun beaming down on the three of you as you took your kids out. Although you didn’t want him to get into fights, you were proud of your son for sticking up for his classmate and defending himself even without a quirk. There was no doubt in your mind that he would become a great hero just like his father.
Katsuo extended his arm out in front of the two of you, causing you to stop walking. He pointed down the road. “There’s a bunch of reporters there. If we go down this way, they’ll just ambush us and ask a bunch of questions about Dad.”
You nodded, looking down the street that was a bit dimmer as it wasn’t exposed to the sun’s rays due to the ginormous trees on the sidewalks. “This road looks better. It’ll take us a bit longer to get back to the car but that’s fine.”
“Do you think we’ll run into Dad or another cool hero on the way?” Suki asked excitedly as the three of you began walking down the narrow, desolate road.
“It’s possible, but I’d rather not ‘cause heroes only show up in times of need and that would mean a villain would be here,” you said.
“Do you think there are people out there that hate Dad?” Katsuo asked.
“I’m sure there are. Just as there are people who love and admire Dad for everything he’s done, there have to be people who despise him for getting in the way,” you stated. Your phone began buzzing in your pocket, looking at it to find an alert from a ‘villain movement app,’ one that notifies you when there is criminal activity in the area. WARNING: Level 5 villain, Gamma, is in the area. Be cautious.
“Gamma? Who’s that?” Suki asked.
“He was a villain that Dad and Uncle Deku faced a few years ago. He got away from police custody but no one’s heard from him since. We should get to the car as fast as we can before anything happens.”
“Too bad I got to you first,” a raspy voice called out from a few feet from behind you.
You felt like something was crawling under your skin as you clenched your hands around your kids’ forearms, turning around slowly to make eye contact with a pair of green beady eyes.
“Mommy?” Suki called out to you softly. Gamma grinned menacingly at the three of you.
“Kids, run that way as fast as you can and get help from the first person you see,” you said in a low voice.
“What about you, Mom?” Katsuo asked, his voice trembling. Although he had never seen Gamma, obviously, he remembered watching the news feed of his father and Midoriya facing off against Gamma and it was difficult even with their combined strength.
“Don’t worry about me, and go!” You said, your tone harshening in a way that Katsuo or Suki had never heard.
Suki grabbed her brother’s arm, running in the opposite direction. Katsuo looked behind him, your back faced him and he could see how you were shaking. Gamma took a step forward but you stopped him. “I’m your target, not them.”
Your quirk was in no way suited for combat but you knew you could distract him as much as you could just so that your kids could get away. Gamma grinned even wider. “You think I’ll let those little shits get away?”
Gamma used his quirk to create a solid wall in front of Suki and Katsuo’s path in a similar way that Cementoss’ quirk worked. “Your little husband and that All Might wannabe did this to me!” He pulled down his hood to reveal all of his hair singed off as well as burn markings all over his scalp. “I’m gonna make them feel every ounce of pain I felt.”
Suki began tearing up, clutching onto her older brother as Katsuo held her tightly against him. Gamma smirked. “I’m gonna kill all of you and make that explosion bastard feel so much agony he’s gonna beg me to kill him.”
Gamma moved his arm, his quirk activating to create a branch like substance, wrapping around Suki’s waist. Suki screamed as she was ripped from her brother’s grasp but Katsuo refused to let go of her, holding onto her arms. Although he didn’t have a quirk, he still trained with his father to maintain his physique. Due to Gamma’s strength to have been immensely depleted thanks to Midoriya and Bakugou, Katsuo managed to yank Suki from the cement branch.
Gamma grunted under his breath and you let out a sigh of relief. But it still was far from over. Gamma looked over to Katsuo, snarling at the sight of him. “You look just like him. I think I’ll play around with you until he gets here.”
Your eyes widened, looking back at Katsuo as another cement branch grabbed him this time. “Katsuo!” You and Suki called out in unison.
Suki attempted to pull her brother away like he had done for her but she wasn’t strong enough. The cement branch moved towards Gamma, holding Katsuo up in front of him. Gamma activated another cement branch, grabbing Suki and maneuvering it forward so it would grab you on the way. The substance felt like the side of the road was wrapping against your bare skin as the tiny rocks dug into you. You winced in pain and Suki began crying out.
Gamma laughed maniacally. “You all made it too easy! I expected it from the doctor but not from the brats! I expected at least one of you to have that bastard’s quirk!”
The crowd of reporters heard the commotion from the street over, moving to the source of the sound. With little time, the crowd continued growing as they all watched on, unable to do anything other than watch.
The cement dug deeper as Gamma tightened its hold around all of you. The silent road was now filled with the sounds of the three of you screaming in agony. You gritted your teeth. “They’re just kids! It should be enough to take your anger out on me, not them! Let them go!”
Gamma shook his head. “I want him to feel as much pain as he can! I don’t give a fuck who gets hurt!” You continued baiting him, angering Gamma even further.
Katsuo grunted, trying to break his arms free or at least move them around. Think, Katsuo, think!
He remembered watching the video of Gamma fighting all those years ago and how he relied on the darkness when using his quirk. It was a long shot, but Katsuo knew he had to do something otherwise his family would be murdered. His fingers snuck into his pocket carefully, pulling out his phone and turning the flashlight on. He shined the light at Gamma’s eyes and Gamma screamed out, his eyes feeling like they were burning. His grip began to weaken and Katsuo broke free from his hold. He continued to shine the light at him as he went over to his mother and sister.
The only way to get them out would be to break the cement. Katsuo didn’t have any tools to do this, having to rely on his fists and the fact that Gamma was weakened by the light to break them free. So Katsuo began punching the cement, his knuckles cracking and bleeding as he pounded relentlessly.
“Suo!” Suki cried out, tears streaming down her face.
With one final punch, Katsuo broke you and Suki free, falling to the floor. The crowd cheered for Katsuo as you grabbed your son and daughter and ran towards the crowd and away from Gamma. Katsuo continued to shine the light onto Gamma, sighing in relief as he thought they had gotten away.
“Not so fast, you shit!” Gamma yelled, releasing one more cement branch blindly, grabbing Katsuo. He dropped his phone, releasing Gamma from being burned by the light. You moved to grab your son, only to be stopped by the formation of a cement wall, one with numerous net-like holes so that everyone could see what he was about to do.
“All you bastards out there, feast your eyes!” Gamma called out to the crowd. He tightened his grip around Katsuo. Katsuo felt his ribs crack as he let out a blood curdling scream.
“Katsuo!” You called out, covering your mouth as you sobbed.
Suki fell to the floor beside you, turning around at the crowd. “One of you fucking idiots call for help! He’s gonna kill my brother!”
The crowd flinched at the intensity and vigor of Suki’s voice. One of the reporters had gotten the attention of others around him, and the crowd managed to call over Midoriya who was initially informed about the situation, the perfect person for this.
“Gamma!” Midoriya called down the road.
Gamma flinched at the sound. “That voice…”
Taking advantage of the diversion and Gamma’s lack of attention, Katsuo pushed his arms out, wriggling his body from Gamma’s clutches. He fell to the floor, groaning in pain. He was broken and bloodied. “Suo!” Suki called out.
Katsuo punched through the wall, managing to break free, falling in front of his mother and sister. He was panting, clutching his side in pain.
“That damn hero…” Gamma grunted.
Before Midoriya could make his way through the crowd, Gamma created another branch, one with deadly shards of cement that would surely impale you as he was trying to grab you this time. Katsuo saw this, grabbing his book bag that was strewn on the floor and flinging it at the branch. He threw his body in front of you and Suki.
“Don’t you fucking touch them!” Katsuo screamed, his voice cracking.
Gamma smirked at him. “Look at you being all brave. Come to think of it, I did hear about Ground Zero having a quirkless son. And you think you can defeat me? You’re just a waste of space!”
“I know that I’m weak!” Katsuo yelled. “I’m quirkless, and I’ll never be as strong as my dad.”
“Suo…” You murmured, holding onto Suki.
Katsuo looked at Gamma with an intensity in his eyes that matched that of Bakugou’s. “But that doesn’t mean I’ll just let you hurt the ones I love without a fight!”
Gamma scoffed, angered by the child’s tenacity. He created another branch, this time aiming for Katsuo. “It’s over for you, kid!”
“Not while I’m here!” Midoriya called out, finally breaking through the crowd and running full speed at Gamma. “You’ve hurt them enough!”
Gamma flinched as Midoriya used his quirk and landed a devastating punch to Gamma’s large body. His body cracked, weakening his powers immensely. He was already weak due to Midoriya and Bakugou’s efforts all those years ago.
As Midoriya reprimanded Gamma, Katsuo collapsed to the floor, continuing to clutch his side. You moved to hold him in your arms. “Katsuo, don’t worry I’ll fix you up soon.”
***
“Will he really be okay?” Suki asked, sniffling as she continued to cry.
You smiled softly, caressing her hair. “He’s alright. He has a few broken ribs and broke a few fingers, too. But Katsuo’s the strongest kid I know.”
Suki’s fists shook in her lap as you two sat outside of Katsuo’s room in the hospital. “He’s such an idiot! He should know better than to hurt himself like that!”
You rubbed Suki’s back, leaning your head onto hers. You shivered at the mere thought of Gamma but was assured as the images of Katsuo’s bravery flooded your mind. You knew that he trained with Bakugou since he was a toddler but you had no idea he was so strong, especially without a quirk.
You were broken away from your thoughts as Midoriya walked down the hallway. He smiled as he saw you and Suki. “Are you guys okay?”
You nodded. “Thanks to you, I don’t know what would’ve happened without you, Deku.”
Midoriya smiled sheepishly, rubbing the nape of his neck. “I was just doing my job! Your son was amazing out there! Speaking of, is he awake?”
You nodded. “Yeah, he wanted a few moments alone to breathe and process what happened so I’m just waiting for Katsuki here.”
“I see. Is it alright if I see him?”
“Go ahead!”
Midoriya smiled at the two of you as he slid the door open, closing it behind him. Katsuo sighed from his bed. “Mom, I said I wanted a few moments alo–”
Katsuo’s eyes widened at Midoriya by the door. “Oh, sorry! I can come back later if you want.”
“No! It’s okay, you can stay!” Katsuo sat up in his bed, wincing slightly. “I actually wanted to thank you for saving us back there.”
Midoriya shook his head, sitting down on the chair beside Katsuo’s bed. “You did so much for your mom and your little sister and I don’t think you understand how you literally saved them. I’m sure if you hadn’t done what you did and protected them in the way that you did, they would have been harmed severely. But you used your own body to protect them.”
Katsuo blushed. Although he was close with Midoriya due to his connection to his father, this was the first time someone other than his parents was commending him for his strength. “I just didn’t want them to get hurt. They’re my family and I think that if I had just done nothing, even though I don’t have a quirk, I would have never forgiven myself if they got hurt.”
Midoriya smiled. “You remind me of myself when I was your age, you know.”
Katsuo’s eyes widened. “What? No way! You’re one of the top heroes, Uncle Deku! You’re as strong as Dad, there’s no way you were like a quirkless loser like me!”
“I was though.” Midoriya paused. “I was quirkless like you.”
Katsuo stared at Midoriya with genuine confusion. Midoriya raised his hands in front of him, showing the numerous scars on his hands. “I was born quirkless but I was given this quirk by someone else. It’s called One For All.”
“You were given your quirk? Is that even possible?”
“This is the only possible way. A long time ago, I met my hero, the past symbol of peace, All Might. He gave me this quirk.”
Katsuo got excited, his eyes shining with excitement. “All Might?! Dad always tells me stories about how cool he was back in the day! And he gave you his quirk? Was that why he retired?”
Midoriya shook his head. “No, you see, that’s not how it works. One For All can be passed down from one person to another and it has been for generations. All Might was given his power by his teacher, too.”
Midoriya looked down at his hands. “I was a quirkless kid just like you when I met him. I thought it was impossible for me to become a hero and so did All Might at first. But then, I tried to save your dad from a villain, even without a quirk, and All Might saw me do it. He saw my drive to save as many people as I could as the perfect thing for the next successor of One For All. So he passed his quirk to me.”
“Dad never told me about that… about the whole villain attacking him.”
Midoriya chuckled. “That sounds like Kacchan. It isn’t something he’s proud of, having to be saved by a quirkless kid. But seeing you throw yourself and do anything to save those that you love, it reminded me of exactly why I wanted to become a hero.”
Katsuo furrowed his brows in confusion at Midoriya. “I like hearing all these stories, but why’re you telling me all this? Isn’t this supposed to be a secret?”
“I’m telling you this because I want to pass down One For All to you.”
Katsuo stared at him with utter disbelief, not believing for a second that he was serious. “Uncle Deku, I really do respect you, but if this is a joke, I think you can stop now.”
Midoriya shook his head. “I’ve never been more serious, Katsuo. Kacchan and Y/N have been telling me how much you’ve wanted to be a hero and I’m sure a lot of people have told you that you wouldn’t be able to be a hero because you’re quirkless. But from one quirkless person to another: you too can become a hero.”
***
Bakugou’s feet moved at a pace that the rest of his body couldn’t keep up with. The moment he heard the news of Gamma attacking his family, he didn’t hesitate to drop everything to rush to your side and make sure all three of you were okay. Midoriya had texted him the location of the hospital and Bakugou cursed under his breath as he had decided to take the stairs to the fifth floor, which was where you were. He even used his quirk to move his body faster, finally reaching the fifth floor.
His crimson eyes scanned the halls and found Suki lying on two chairs outside of a room, you close beside her. You looked up, smiling after seeing your husband. “Katsuki!”
Bakugou didn’t hesitate to hold you in his arms, practically knocking the wind out of you. His calloused hands held you tightly, his head nuzzled into your neck. He was so glad to see that you were alright. Bakugou pulled away, examining your body once more for any external injuries. “Are you okay?”
You nodded. “I’m fine. Suki and I got away with a few scratches.”
Bakugou’s blonde brows furrowed in worry and concern. “And Suo? What about Katsuo?”
“He has a few broken ribs and fingers. He’ll be okay though.”
“What the fuck happened?”
You smiled at Bakugou. “Katsuo protected us from that villain, Katsu. He did whatever he could to protect us.”
Bakugou stared in silence and relief. He was concerned about his son, slightly aggravated with the fact that he had been so reckless, but he also knew that if Katsuo hadn’t stepped up, you and Suki would’ve been harmed to a degree that Bakugou didn’t even want to imagine.
“He’s in there with Deku if you want to see him.”
Bakugou nodded, moving over to Suki who was fast asleep. He sighed, knowing that she was okay before sliding the door open. Katsuo nor Midoriya heard the door open, Bakugou only seeing the sight of Katsuo in a state of utter shock.
“What the hell did you tell him, Deku?” Bakugou asked, closing the door and leaning against it.
Midoriya flinched at the sudden sound of his voice, turning around to face him. “Oh, Kacchan! I didn’t even hear you come in.”
Midoriya looked back at Katsuo who was looking at his hands, both his hands bandaged up as the aftermath of the day’s events. “Dad, do you think I can be a hero?”
Bakugou sighed, crossing his arms over his chest. “I think what you did today is enough proof that you’re better than half the pros out there. Some of them hesitate to even save people, valuing their life above everything else. But you didn’t even think about that, and even though it was reckless, you’re the reason why Mom and Suki were able to get out of that unscathed.”
Katsuo let out a breathless laugh, his eyes tearing up as he whispered out, “So you think I’m a hero, too?”
“From how shocked you are now, I’m gonna guess and say that this shithead wants to pass down his quirk to you.”
Midoriya and Katsuo looked at Bakugou with shock. “How’d you know, Kacchan?”
Bakugou scoffed. “I wasn’t born yesterday. The moment I heard what happened and how you were there at the last minute, you probably saw that my kid was just like you all those years ago with that fucking sludge monster. And seeing as you’re here and Suo looks like he’s gonna pass out, I figured that’s what you told him.”
Midoriya turned his body around to face Bakugou. “So what do you think?”
“I think that my opinion has nothing to do with this. This is your quirk and it’s your decision for who you want to pass it onto. And it’s up to Katsuo if he wants this.”
Midoriya smiled, looking over at Katsuo. “You see, Katsuo? There are only a few people in my life that know about One For All and All Might and your dad are included. It’s all up to you.”
Katsuo clenched the sheets in his hands. The minute Midoriya had explained his situation, he knew exactly what he wanted. “I’ll do it. I’ll take One For All.”
Midoriya grinned. “Awesome! I knew I could count on you. But, I will say that I can’t pass it onto you for now since I still have so much to do with this quirk. But, I will train you and help your body be prepared for this quirk. I had no muscle training until All Might came into my life but I can see that Kacchan has prepared you well.”
“I–”
The door slid open abruptly, almost making Bakugou fall backwards. You put your hand on his back, pushing him back up. The three boys stared at you in shock and you looked at them in confusion. “What? You guys look like I interrupted a classified meeting.”
Midoriya shook his head vigorously. “N-No! You didn’t interrupt anything!”
“O-kay?” You sighed. “Can you two get out for now? I need to examine Katsuo’s wounds a little more before we can call it a night.”
Midoriya nodded, getting up to leave and sit on the chairs outside of the room. You walked over to Katsuo, sitting on the chair that Midoriya was sitting on. Bakugou unfurled his arms from his chest to his sides. “I’m gonna go talk to Deku.” You nodded and he closed the door behind him.
Bakugou sat down beside Midoriya who seemed to be deep in thought. Bakugou looked over at him. “What, you regretting your decision already?”
Midoriya shook his head rapidly. “No, not at all! I have no doubt that I made the right decision. I’ve just been thinking about when All Might approached me the same way with this quirk.”
He looked down at his hands which had numerous scars. “I want to approach this the right way. All Might was running low on time with One For All and he prepared me as best as he could until the U.A. entrance exams. But I want to make sure that Katsuo’s body will be prepared to the fullest before taking this quirk. You’ve seen it’s backlashes and I don’t want him to have to experience that same pain.”
Bakugou looked over at his daughter, caressing her (H/C) hair. He smiled. “He’s stronger than he looks. He’s my kid after all.”
Midoriya smiled as well. “I figured that much. If he wasn’t strong, he probably wouldn’t have been able to fight Gamma and hold him off as much as he did.”
Bakugou sighed, looking in the opposite direction. “I’m gonna say this once so you better fucking listen up.”
Midoriya looked at him with curious eyes. “Thank you.”
Midoriya became flustered, expecting anything other than a ‘thanks’ from his hot-headed friend. “There’s nothing to thank me for! I didn’t really do anything.”
“You idiot, you’re giving him hope. No matter how strong a person can be, it’s difficult to become a hero without a quirk. I always told Suo that I believed in him and I still do, but I was always worried about what would happen once he faced off with an actual villain.”
Midoriya shook his head. “I didn’t do anything, I’m being honest. He’s always had hope. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to do what he did today. He believed in himself. Besides, I didn’t expect anything else from a Bakugou.”
Bakugou smirked. “Of course, where do you think he got it from?”
Midoriya smiled. “Kacchan, I’m going to make him become an even better hero than you and I. He’s going to be the best hero in existence.”
Bakugou looked over at him. “Damn right he will.”

Danny Rand when his Future child comes to the Present

Amadeus Cho when his Future child comes to the Present
Okay so it was a completely normal day at S.H.I.E.L.D.
You were just walking down the halls, doing nothing
You were bored cuz you had nothing to do
But you also didn’t wanna go home
Cuz Danny was on a trip to K’un-Lun and so the house felt empty
All of a sudden something small and very light tackled your legs
“Mommy!”
You turned around, confused, only to see the cutest, smallest little girl staring up at you with a wide smile
You gave her a reassuring smile and knelt beside her
“Did you lose your mom, little one?”
She nodded cutely before wrapping her arms around you
“But I found you momma!”
And you’re like damn this kid is confused as hell
“I’m not your mom, sweetie.”
“You look like my mommy.” She replied, confused.
“Well how about I help you find her?”
Some S.H.I.E.L.D. agent must have brought her here
So, you roamed the halls trying to find them, picking up the little girl when you realized that she couldn’t keep up with you
It seems like she forgot halfway that you weren’t her mom cuz she asks you again
“Mommy, where’s Daddy?”
And you’re just like “Um, I’m not your mom.”
You keep walking and all of a sudden, a few S.H.I.E.L.D. agents bolt down the hallway
They see the kid in your hands and are relieved as hell
“Oh, you found her.”
“Is her mother looking for her?”
“Um, there was an incident.”
So, Fury explains to you that somehow a kid got here from the future and they were trying to do a test on her when she ran away
They ask you to carry her to the lab so they can take a sample
When the doctor comes close to her, she gets scared and buries her little head into your neck
“Mommy I’m scared!”
Your maternal instinct comes into play and you’re left reassuring her
Fury finds it suspicious and wants a maternal test run on you
“Wait you think she’s mine?”
“She looks remarkably like you.”
You glanced back at her and realized he was right
It was like staring at old baby pics in real life
The test comes out positive and for some reason you’re really relieved
You realize you would have been disappointed if it had come negative
“Wait…. if she’s mine then who’s the father?”
“We can have a paternity test run on Danny once he gets here but as of now, it can’t be determined.”
You’re worried that there’s a tiny chance that she might not be his
Even tho you knew in your heart he was
You wanted to show her a picture of him and ask
But some part of you was scared of the answer
So, you wait patiently for Danny to get back from his trip, all the while enjoying some baby girl cuddles
And let me tell you
This girl is the sweetest one in the universe
She’s so well-mannered that it further confirms your beliefs that she’s Danny’s
Ava absolutely loves her cuz she’s so disciplined for a child
“Thank you, mama.”
She has a knack for knowing when you’re deep asleep and chooses only then to wake you up cuz she has to pee
“Mommy wake up I need to go to the bathroom!”
“Five more minutes.”
“Mommy!!!”
You find out who the father is in the most unlikely way
You were playing with your daughter in the recreation room
And all of a sudden, she jumps to her feet and runs towards the door
“Daddy!!”
You freeze and your head snaps towards the door
Sam is standing there looking shocked af and your heart drops
Time stops and your heart starts racing as she gets closer to him
And closer
And then completely runs past him to the hologram of Iron Fist in the hall of heroes
SIGH OF RELIEF
So, it’s confirmed that Danny is in fact her dad and you are over the moon
The next day Danny is supposed to return and you are just super nervous about how to tell him
“There’s something you should know.”
“Daddy!” Shouted your daughter as she came and hugged his legs, smiling brightly up at him, “I missed you.”
He’s SHOCKED
You quickly pick her up, “I’m sure daddy missed you too but he’s very tired. Why don’t you go play with your toys and he’ll come join you after a while?”
She nodded obediently before turning to him
“I missed you more than mommy missed you.”
Cheeky little bugger.
“Our child from the future?”
“Bingo.”
The next few days are just the best
If you thought she liked you then you have no idea what she’s like when she’s around her father
Daddy’s girl without a doubt
But you can’t really feel upset about it
Not when they look so adorable together
Danny is a surprisingly good dad even tho he only has a day of experience
He calls her princess, little one, my love
The sight of the two of them makes you soft
The team wants to make fun of you so badly but then they see how much your daughter adores the two of you and they shut up
However, eventually S.H.I.E.L.D. finds a way to send her back to her time
You’re really disappointed but you send her away with a smile
The void you feel after is a lot
That little 5-year-old baby girl managed to capture your heart and you missed her dearly
“I can’t wait to meet our little girl again.” Danny told you one day.
“Well you won’t have to wait for long. 9 months at most?”
“What?”
“We’re gonna have a daughter.”
The grin you got in response was just breath-taking
Usually you would have been nervous to tell him, scared even
But you already saw the outcome
And with something so beautiful as the result, how could you be afraid?
“I can’t wait until she’s in our arms again.”

A/N: Hey guys! So an anon requested dominant Mark and I had another idea of how I wanted to write about a dom Mark but I’ve been wanting to write about vampire Mark for a while now so here you go anon I hope you enjoy it!
“I can feel you staring you know? You’re not exactly subtle my love.”
The laugh that fell from your boyfriend’s lips made your entire chest warm and you wouldn’t be surprised if your cheeks were as pink as the roses the older boy stole for you from your next door neighbor’s garden right before he made his way in to your bedroom through the window. Anything Mark did never failed to make you smile like an idiot. You decided his laughter was your favorite sound the first time you heard it almost three years ago in your junior biology class in high school.
Although he tried to present himself to his surroundings as a very shy and introverted individual, his extremely adorable, contagious and high-pitched laugh that fell from his lips whenever he was with his friends convinced you otherwise. From that day on, you knew you wanted to be the reason behind that beautiful sound and you wanted nothing more than to witness his pure happiness every single day.
“I wasn’t trying to be. You’re breathtakingly beautiful and I’m madly in love with you. It’s only natural for me to look at you baby. Now hurry up with studying, you’ve been at it for almost four hours now. I need love too.” You couldn’t help but release a soft giggle at the sight of his cute little frown before returning back to your notes.
“Well I’m sorry not all of us have been around for thousands of years and attended God knows how many schools throughout your entire life to know every single answer to any question. Midterms are coming up here soon and I don’t want a repeat of last semester. You and I both know how upset I was having to  settle for that D in psychology.” He gave you a knowing look before playfully wiggling his brows at you.
“Well maybe you need another D in order to take your mind off of your education for a little bit. Preferably buried inside of you. Mine in particular. Don’t look at me like that y/n. You haven’t let me touch you in almost an entire week because of these stupid tests. You know you have nothing to worry about right? You’re smarter than you think you are babe. I know college is rough, but take it from someone whose attended over 200 colleges, it only gets worse the closer you get to graduation. Hang in there princess, you got me every step of the way. Now, before I go fucking crazy, can I please get a little taste? I can smell you from over here. Your scent alone is driving me to the brink of insanity, you smell so fucking good and I already know you taste even better.”
If someone were to tell you a couple of years ago that you would be dating a vampire, you would’ve laughed in their face; but here you were, head over heels in love with the so called “forbidden, mystical creature” you called your boyfriend. When you first developed feelings and showed interest in Mark, he was quick to avoid you and even went through great lengths of ignoring you in order to prevent the two you from getting involved with one another.
A few months after the two of you began your relationship, Mark explained to you that he treated you so coldly because he didn’t want you falling for him. He was a monster, a beast, an abomination. There was no way he’d allow himself to get in to a relationship or associate with a human he’d end up developing feelings for. Not only was he afraid of hurting you; it was obvious that he could never control himself around you. But because he knew deep down that a relationship with a human would never last. Humans live all the way up to 100 if they are lucky but vampires stay the same age for eternity.
Mark knew you were going to be someone very important in his life when your scent practically slapped him in the face as he walked in to the lab on the fateful day you both met and ever since you and Mark were assigned to be lab partners, you’ve been attached to the hip ever since. It didn’t take long for you to discover your boyfriend’s secret. For starters, his skin was paler than most people and his touch was cold as ice. Being the clumsy person you are, there was one day you were about to leave class and failed to notice that the rug in front of the door was uneven. You were expecting to stumble flat on your face but the fall never came. In fact, not only did Mark practically yank at your wrist to keep you from falling, but you were soon pulled in to his chest and the entire situation made your head spin.
You didn’t fail to notice how abnormally strong he was. Sure, a couple of your friends were in weight lifting and you knew it wasn’t unusual for someone as broad and fit as Mark to have such a firm and solid grip, but it just didn’t feel right to you for some reason. His strength felt bionic. What also sparked your curiosity was the fact that his eye color was always changing. Although it was normal for people to wear different colored contacts, Mark’s eyes were constantly being switched almost every single day to the point where you didn’t even know what his natural eye color was.
The last straw that practically answered your questing for you, was the one night you found yourself walking home and it felt as if someone was following you. To say you felt scared out of your mind was an understatement. You were staying at the library late that night to study for your finals at the time but you didn’t know just how late it was. You knew you should’ve reached out to your parents to pick you up, but your school was only 10 minutes away from your house and you didn’t think much of walking by yourself so late in the night.
Now you were regretting your independent personality and decided to walk a little faster in order to let whoever know that you were aware of their presence. You were just a few steps away from your house when you heard a painful cry of an older man and it was then that you saw him on the ground with his arm being twisted behind his back. When you saw the person who was attacking him, it was as if your soul left your body.
There was your science partner, the sweetest human being who would never hurt a fly with the most darkest shade of red in his eyes. You didn’t hesitate to run as fast as you could no matter how badly you wanted to make sure that Mark was okay, it was obvious he could take care of himself. You didn’t want to see what Mark was going to do to the older man and what he could possibly do to you.
Once you made it in to your house, you released the longest breath of relief and took a couple of minutes to process what had just happened. When you made your way up in to your room, you flopped on to your bed and began to hyperventilate. It was so much for you to take in. How did Mark know that guy was following you? Was he watching over you from afar? What exactly was he? Your body wouldn’t allow you to fall asleep, no matter how hard you tried.
The night’s events haunted your mind and you tried your best to push it to the back of your mind but you weren’t able to. Mark wasn’t human, that you knew was true. His pale white skin, icy cold to the touch. His almost superhuman like abilities; how fast he ran in track and p.e.; it wasn’t normal. You also picked up on how he never ate. At lunch, he always had a tray of food but it went untouched every single time. And his red eyes, the way he looked at you right before you made a run for it felt demonic.
The realist in you knew exactly what he was, but you wanted him to tell you himself before jumping to conclusions. The next day, he was quick in finding where you were. You didn’t even take three steps on to campus before he came up to you with a blank look on his face.
“We need to talk. Now.” You didn’t say anything and just followed him to his car, allowing him to take you anywhere he wanted to. When the two of you made your way in to his truck, you thought he was going to drive off to a more secluded area but he didn’t even turn on the car. The two of you sat in silence, the tension in the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife. You didn’t dare look at him, but you could feel him staring, the feeling was intense.
“Why were you walking home by yourself so late at night? Are you crazy? You could’ve died—“
“How did you know where I was? Were you following me?” You finally turned to look up at him in curiosity and shivered when you saw how tightly his jaw was clenched.
“That’s not the point here y/n, you need to be more careful. What if I wasn’t there huh? You have no idea what that man could’ve done to you.” You released a soft sigh, too afraid to speak up against him and upset him even more than he clearly already was.
“Mark.” He knew what was coming. Mark was completely aware that you weren’t stupid. What happened last night was the cherry on top of all the information you were gathering about the mysterious boy and it wasn’t too long before your curiosity got the best of you.
“What did you do to the man? Is he dead?” The silence that filled up his car answered your question and you could feel your nerves building up the longer he didn’t say anything.
“Y/n—“
“Tell me the truth Mark. I stayed up all night thinking about this. You—you’re not human are you?”
“No. You’re a smart girl, I’m sure you put all the clues together, so just say it. What do you think I am y/n?” Your breath was shaky; but for some reason, you weren’t afraid. Deep down you knew Mark wouldn’t hurt you.
“A vampire. You’re a vampire.”
“Bingo. There’s nothing for you to be afraid about though, I would never do anything to hurt you. I’m sure you have a lot of questions in that pretty little head of yours, so did you maybe wanna get out of here and I can tell you everything you’re probably dying to know?”
You found yourself nodding in agreement and he took that time to pull out of the parking lot and drove farther and farther away from your school. The drive to wherever he was taking you was quiet. He turned on the radio for what you felt was to kill the awkward atmosphere but you couldn’t help but overthink everything.
“Stop that.” You looked over at him and his focus was on the road but he was quick to reach out for your wrist and intertwined your hands together. Your breath hitched all but softly at the sudden skin ship, it wasn’t like you weren’t familiar with him so it didn’t feel all too unusual. It only made things harder for you because you were slowly developing feelings for him.
“I’ll tell you everything once we park so stop overthinking. I’m going to tell you right now, I can hear your thoughts so I’ll try my best not to take advantage of you and your mind.” Once Mark parked his truck, he got out of the car and helped you out not letting go of your hand. He led you down a path and before you knew it, there was a beautiful lake surrounding the two of you.
“Now, to answer all of your questions. Yes, I am a vampire. The group of guys I hang out with, all vampires—well—except for BamBam and Yugyeom. They’re werewolves but there’s no beef between werewolves and vampires like the fake shit you’ve probably seen in movies. Yes, I was following you; but it’s not what you think. I’m not some creepy, obsessed stalker. I just so happened to be up on a roof when I saw you walking and then I saw that asshole begin to walk a little too close behind you. I also sensed the pocket knife in his hand and his thoughts were so disgusting and vile. He got what he deserved y/n. And no, I don’t kill people for a living. I didn’t kill him to suck his blood, so you can get rid of any “bloodsucker” thoughts. We don’t take blood from humans, well—we do. But not directly from humans. I only kill in situations like last night. My friends and I, we kill those who are a threat to the community. That fucker had the audacity to beg for his life knowing he was seconds away from taking yours. I don’t know what I’d do if something were to happen to you.” You could feel your heart rate increase at his sweet words and the gentle caress of his thumb on your wrist made you smile softly.
“I like you y/n, I’ve had a crush on you for a while but I’m sure you know why I haven’t done anything about it. People like you and I, we’d never work out. We’re from two different worlds. But I can’t help myself. Tell me to leave you alone and I will. I know it’s what’s best for you, that’s why I’m giving you an out. However, I know you want me as much as I want you—ow! Just because I’m practically dead doesn’t mean that didn’t hurt. Just because I said I’ll try and stop reading your thoughts doesn’t mean I’ll ignore the ones I’m involved in. The ball is in your court y/n. I’ll do whatever you want me to.”
With the way he was holding your hand so perfectly, like it was meant to fit with yours and how he was looking at you so tenderly made your heart flutter. You didn’t care if he was different. You didn’t care that he was a so called “beast” and the fact that he could kill people. He was still the same old cheesy and goofy Mark that you knew him to be. Knowing that he was a vampire didn’t change the way you felt about him and to be quite honest, it was quite the turn on.
You knew Mark had cat like reflexes, but you had to stifle a laugh as he jolted when you attached your lips to his. There were so many times in class where you would daydream about how it would feel like kissing those soft lips of his and now that you knew, you wouldn’t be able to get enough. But wait, did he know that you would doze off thinking about what it would be having his lips on yours?
“Yes. I found it quite cute actually. I don’t know if it’s because I liked you too, but your thoughts are extremely loud babe. Ooooh, I like the sound of that. Babe. I’ve never been in a relationship before, so please be patient with me and let me know if you need for me to slow down or if I need to increase the speed of our relationship. That was amazing by the way. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find myself wondering what you tasted like every so often. You’re a sight for sore eyes y/n. So, so beautiful. I’ve been around for thousands of years. I’ve travelled a lot, lived in many different places and you’re the first girl whose ever caught my attention. You’re wonderful you know that? Incredibly smart, hardworking, exceptionally talented, a little bit clumsy and very kind-hearted. I’ll take good care of you baby, I promise.”
From that day on, Mark became your shadow. He introduced you to all of his friends and they were all very friendly and accepting of your relationship. They were actually all in shock to hear that Mark found someone. Throughout their many years on this earth, the six of them all had their fair share of girlfriends, flings and one night stands. Mark however, never seemed interested in anybody. In fact, they felt that’s why he was such a hard ass because in BamBam’s words, “he’s never gotten some”. But Mark knew, even from the time he was turned in to a vampire that something was always missing in his life.
He tried a few times to look for love, hell, he even went along with Jackson’s advice and having a casual fuck buddy but Mark wasn’t in to that. When he was still a human, he was quite the romantic. He loved the idea of love and he has always wanted to experience falling in love with someone. But when his life was cut too short at the young age of 24 years old, he didn’t get to experience any kind of relationship other than the puppy love ones he had back in high school. When your relationship had started, all of that changed.
You were all Mark knew and wanted to know. He was very good with learning every single thing about you. Your likes, dislikes, your favorite food, favorite color, the tv shows you would binge watch on Netflix, where you went to school, what your mother’s maiden name was; he wanted to know it all. Since you were your boyfriend’s first actual girlfriend, you understood why he was so overprotective and clingy and he’s apologized for it many times, but you were very understanding when it came to his actions and you knew he only had your best interest in mind. Not only was he your boyfriend, but he was your best friend. You would always confide in him with all of your self doubts, worries, problems and insecurities. He was also your personal chef, teacher and doctor.
Since he’s been around for so long, he’s learned quite a bit of things and he’s observed people enough to know how to make an amazing filet mignon and to be able to tell you what the pain in your left abdomen was. You also learned quite a bit about him. There was one night in particular that the truth came out.
You never wanted to ask Mark about his past just in case it brought him back to bad times, but you couldn’t help but wonder both why and how he became a vampire. The two of you were currently up on the roof of your house stargazing when he placed a soft kiss on your hair and the words came flowing from his mouth like a river. His death was an accident.
Mark and two of his friends; Jaebum and Jinyoung were coming home from a party that night when a huge freight truck hit all three of them causing their car to flip upside down. The last thing Mark remembered was seeing Jaebum and Jinyoung being pulled from out of the car by what he thought was a lady in her mid-thirty’s and when she went to take him out of his side of the car, everything went pitch black after that. He woke up the next morning, which was actually almost a month later feeling extremely weird and loopy. He also felt like he was dying of thirst.
When he saw his two friends sitting on a couch waiting for what he assumed to be his awakening, he released a breath of relief to which the two boys practically jumped on him in excitement. It was also in that moment that Jinyoung and Jaebum alongside of the woman who they introduced to Mark as Nina thoroughly explained to the eldest boy that he died that night of the accident and he was now a vampire. It was quite the information for Mark to take in. In fact, Mark took it the hardest. Your boyfriend had a huge family that he loved with all of his heart. He was also the biggest momma’s boy, so he was heartbroken at the thought of how his mother must’ve taken his death.
The more he went in to depth about his entire history from how amazing his life was up until his untimely death and the many years he’s lived before meeting you, you felt overwhelmed yet somewhat special knowing he trusted you with something so important to him. Although Mark was considered to be a killer and even a demon in some eyes, to you he was your entire world. He may have been intimidating to others but you knew he was quite fragile and very delicate. You made a promise to yourself that you would do anything and everything in your power to make sure he was well taken care of and to give him the world he deserved and more.
“Fine, I’ll take a little break. You’re insatiable Tuan. Get over here you horndog.” Mark practically leaped over to your desk and hoisted you up against his waist, wrapping your legs around his hips and attacking your neck with gentle kisses. Your boyfriend was very compassionate and considerate whenever it came to you. He was pretty insecure about being a virgin and because he was ten times stronger than most humans, he was afraid of not knowing what to do and hurting you.
Your first time together was the most interesting and the most adorable sexual experience you’ve ever had. He kept asking you if you were okay, if he was doing things correctly, if your moans were that of pain or of pleasure and the poor thing didn’t seem to enjoy it because he was worried the entire time. However, all the times the two of you were intimate after that were mind blowing. Mark took the time to learn your body. Where to touch to drive you insane, what positions made you moan the loudest, the kind of kinks you were in to. He was also very vocal when it came to what he liked and you could confidently admit that your sex life was indescribable and otherworldly.
“Do whatever you want to me baby, I’m all yours.” He gave you his award winning smile before roughly attacking your lips with his. He laid you all but gently on your bed and ran his hands alongside your shoulders and down to your arms. His breathy moans vibrates against your lips and the sensation went straight to your core. As the two of you made out, you were so focused on molding your lips with Mark’s and doing your best to keep up with his pace that you didn’t notice his hands making their way to your clothes yet very soaking pussy until you felt one of his fingers drag against your underwear painstakingly slow.
Since it’s been a week since the two of you have made love, you knew Mark wasn’t going to go easy on you. He was going to take his time, teasing and edging you and you were too excited at the idea of dominant Mark to even care about having to beg him as the night went on.
“So fucking wet. You’re soaking baby. Tell me who caused this? Fucking tell me y/n!” You couldn’t help the urge to want to tease him knowing how much he hated being submissive if it was his turn to be dominant. You and your boyfriend would take turns leading your love making sessions. As much as Mark loved being rough and dominant, he found it extremely sexy whenever you would degrade him and make him earn his orgasm. He wasn’t afraid to admit he was a switch. He had fun loving on your body and giving you what you desired as much as he did receiving so it didn’t matter what went down during sex. All that mattered to him was that you were having a good time.
“You Mark. Always you. Only you. Ah fuck—“ he didn’t give you any time to prepare before shoving two digits in to your entrance. He decided to toy with you and left his fingers buried deep in your cunt without doing anything. It was pure torture. One of your favorite body parts on Mark was his long, pretty fingers. He knew exactly how to bring you to sheer ecstasy with his fingers alone.
“You know what I want from you. My fingers don’t move until you beg my dirty, filthy little girl. Now ask me.” From an outsider’s view, Mark was such a gentle boyfriend that served you the world on a silver platter which was ultimately true. He treated you as if you were an angel and in his eyes, you were. He still had a hard time understanding why you’ve stayed with him for so long when you clearly deserved better. Someone with an actual heartbeat. Someone you could relate to. Someone who wasn’t frowned upon for being a monster. He was trying his best to work on being insecure because you would always reassure him that you wanted nobody but him but it was only nature for him to have such a low self esteem.
“Please Mark. I need you to fuck me with your pretty little fingers. Touch me, please. I need you to move, your fingers feel so good. I’ll do anything—ahhh—faster—go faster.” Finally, to your delight Mark began to pump his fingers inside of you at a rough and consistent pace. You reached for your pillow so that you could hide your face in it and drown out the moans and screams you were sure would fall out of your mouth pretty soon but Mark was quick to yank the pillow away before you could do anything.
“If you’re going to act like this, I’m only going to make things harder for you. What happened to my good little girl from a week ago? Didn’t I give you everything you asked for because you were behaving so well? I guess my fingers alone aren’t good enough for my sweet angel are they? I guess I just have to eat you out don’t I? You spoiled brat. Can’t be one of the other, I always have to do both. I won’t lie and say I don’t want this though. I’ve been wanting to suck on this sweet pussy since the last time I had my face between your thighs. Now sing for me y/n. Let everyone in this apartment structure know whose fucking you good.”
He stole one more kiss from the corner of your lips and yanked his fingers out of you, earning himself a frustrated whimper. He slowly made his way down your body, showing love to each an every one of your body parts. The two of you had sex many times for you to know that Mark was obsessed with your breasts. Which is why you weren’t surprised when you felt him unclasp your bra and watched as he flung it across the room before returning his attention to your bare chest.
“I don’t understand why you humans waste your money and time wearing this useless things. You look so much better without it. Why do you own so many bras when my hands are free of charge y/n—stop it I’m being real here—hit me one more time and I promise you you’re going to miss your final because you won’t be able to walk for the rest of the week.”
You rolled your eyes at his words but you knew he was telling the truth. If Mark was upset, got jealous or the two of you had an argument, he would take all his anger out on you during sex. There were times were you found bruises and one too many love bites somewhere on your body from how rough your boyfriend could be and you even had to call in sick from both work and school in order to rest. Dominant, wild and experimental Mark was your favorite Mark and the fact that he was so built along with knowing he was a dangerous creature was so erotic and sexual to you. He was an animal both in the streets and in the sheets and it was a huge turn on for you.
As soon as you felt his mouth against one of your mounds, your eyes rolled to the back of your head. It always felt so good. He began licking and sucking on your nipple, bringing it between his fangs while massaging and toying with your other nipple. Your hands made their way in to his hair, tugging ever so gently while you moaned all but quietly against his neck at how good it felt. Breast play was one of your favorite kinks and Mark knew exactly how to take care of your beautiful mounds.
“So—so good. Your teeth—your fingers—fuck. Please don’t stop baby.” He pulled away and gave you a cheeky smile.
“I love your tits y/n. So big, so pretty and all mine. I love sucking on these so much and hearing the effect it has on you makes me so fucking hard.”
Mark continued his ministrations digging and kneading your flesh all the while flicking your nipple with his tongue. Feeling him moan and grunt against your breast made the knot in your stomach only tighten and as much as you loved the feeling of him giving attention to your chest, you craved more.
“Mark.” He hummed in curiosity before pulling away to see what you wanted.
“Yes princess?”
“As much as I love breast play, I need more. You either eat me or ram yourself inside of me. Now.” You knew you messed up trying to tell him what to do especially when he made it aware that he was going to wreck you tonight.
“Tsk tsk tsk. If only you continued to follow what I had planned for us tonight. I was going to go easy on you because I know how hard you’ve been studying and all, but now—now I feel like you deserve a little punishment. You’re going to get yourself off you hear me? Sit on my thigh and find your release on your own.”
You felt so desperate when the whine fell from your mouth and you gave him the most adorable frown in attempts to get what you wanted but you knew it wasn’t going to work. Then you began to pound at his chest in frustration but he grabbed both your wrist and pinned them up above your head.
“That’s strike two y/n. Such the naughty girl tonight. Should I tie you up and jack myself off in front of you? Will that get you to finally do as I ask?”
You shook your head and left a soft kiss at the juncture of his neck. “I’m sorry baby, I’ll be good. I promise.” He snickered at how needy you were acting and you mentally cursed him for having fun with this.
“I heard that.”
You rolled your eyes and made your way on to his lap. He was currently wearing a pair of black skinny jeans and you know from past experience exactly what riding his thigh was like while he worse the harsh material but if this was the only way you could find release, then you’d take what you could get. You sat on one of his thighs while wrapping your arms around his neck and began to grind yourself against him. His jeans were rough against your clit, but the friction between your soaking core and his pants were driving you insane. He brought his hands down to your ass and helped guide you back and forth along his thigh all the while kneading and roughly slapping your cheeks.
You reconnected your lips with his, roughy crashing them together and brought his bottom lip between your teeth. With every grind against his thigh and feeling your clit graze against his jeans with every gyration of your hips made you moan angrily against his mouth. His grip was tight against your hips and you could feel his pants tighten. The sight of his growing erection brought you even closer to your orgasm. You fastened your pace and practically began bouncing against him.
“You’re close aren’t you?” You nodded in agreement and to your dismay, he lifted you off of his lap. You didn’t care if he degraded you anymore at this point, you needed to cum or you were going to lose your mind.
“Mark, why the fuck did you stop? I was so close! I was doing what you told me to do and fucking your thigh you asshole. Do I not get to come at all tonight?”
He grinned; the fucker grinned and as much as you loved how he was acting, you were so close to fingering yourself.
“Look at the mess you made. Shit y/n, my pants are immersed in your juices. Don’t worry baby, you did so well. I just—feeling you soak my pants, hearing those pretty moans of yours, feeling you rub against my thigh and seeing your facial reactions made me so fucking hard. I need to be inside of you. But before I do that, lie down. Let me take care of you baby.”
Finally, he was going to give you what you’ve been waiting for all night. There was a voice in the back of your mind telling you that there had to be a catch and that there was a chance he was going to deny your orgasm once again, but you weren’t going to say anything to provoke him. When he found his place in between your thighs, he began to lick and suck on your thighs while leaving wet and sloppy kisses amongst the both of them.
Although Mark loved leaving hickeys on your neck and chest to show people that your bed was spoken for, he enjoyed leaving love bites on the inside of your thighs and knowing that he was the only one who got to see them. “You smell so good y/n and your pussy is glistening. Fuck, I’m going to devour you.”
He licked a long slit at your entrance before taking your clit in between his teeth. Absentmindedly, you reached forward and tugged gently on his curly locks as he began lapping and slurping up your juices. Since Mark didn’t eat actual food, he would always make a joke about your pussy being his favorite meal, but with the way he would eat you out like a man starved, you knew he was telling the truth.
You and Mark were very generous to one another whenever it came to giving each other head and as much as you enjoyed giving head, especially because Mark would praise you for blowing both his dick and his mind, you preferred receiving just a little bit more. Your boyfriend continued to suck and run his tongue back and forth against your sensitive nub causing you to let out a pleasurable shriek. Feeling him moan and hum against your core made your grip on his hair tighten.
“M—mmm—Mark—fuck—so good, you’re always so good to me baby. I love you—so so much—ho—holy shit.” He smiled up at you and you had a hard time understanding how someone could make something so naughty look so adorable. Seeing his pretty teeth grin at you all the while your essence was all over his lips made your eyes roll to the back of your head. He was so fucking beautiful. Your love confession led your boyfriend to bring back both of his fingers in to your cunt and began pumping at an extremely rough and fast pace all the while returning his tongue between your folds.
The feeling of him licking and slurping up all your juices while he flicked at your nub and brought your clit between his fingers, rolling it and pinching it with his calloused fingers was all too much for you to take in and after what felt like forever, you found yourself seeing white as you came all over his tongue.
“You taste so good baby and you’re so fucking tight. Your pussy was practically rejecting my fingers, I can’t wait to have you wrapped against my cock. How are you feeling though? Tired? Need to take a break?” You shook your head in disagreement and softly pecked his nose. It always amazed you that Mark could go from animalistic and practically driving you on the bridge of insanity to the worried and nervous boyfriend you knew and loved with your entire being.
“I’m fine, more than fine. I love the feeling of your fangs biting down of my thighs and grazing against my clit, I don’t know why but they’re so fucking sexy to me. I want to return the favor.” Right as you were about to lower yourself to your knees, Mark shook his head and pulled you again from his belt.
“Mark what are you doing? I want to suck you off baby—“ his laughter filled the entire room while he placed a chaste kiss on your forehead.
“You’re such a needy cock slut, always wanting my dick in your mouth. Fuck, you’re so sexy you know that? I can’t wait to be balls deep inside of this pretty pussy. As much as I want your mouth wrapped around me and to fuck your throat, we’re going to have to save that for next time. My dick is practically standing at attention and needs to feel you wrapped around it. You’re going to bounce on my dick like the professional cow girl you are, I’m going to fuck you doggy style in to this mattress and then we’re going to finish off in missionary. I love watching your breathtakingly beautiful face while you come. Let me make love to my baby.”
He took off his jeans and almost ripped his shirt in half because of how badly he wanted you right then and there. Mark took his spot on your bed and crossed his arms behind your back. The smile he was sending you made your heart warm. One thing you loved during sex, no matter how passionate and rough it could get was that Mark would always smile adorably at you with his pearly white teeth.
“God, I’m so in love with you y/n. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.” Every time he brought up the future, you always felt so excited. You wanted nothing more to settle down with the devastatingly handsome man lying down in front of you. You even dreamt about starting a family and having little versions of the both of you running around the house but you knew there was no way that could happen. He wasn’t physically able to have kids and it upset you because from the time you were a little girl, you’ve always dreamt about having a big family and Mark would tell you he wanted it to. But wouldn’t people find it weird that as you age, your boyfriend didn’t? And you hated the thought of spending the rest of your life and having kids with anyone other than Mark.
Your boyfriend was quick to notice your sudden mood change and he release an exhausted sigh as he heard what you were thinking. The two of you have had this conversation before many times and it was always this topic that led to most of your fights.
“I’m only going to get older and uglier one day while you stay young, handsome and fit. Everyone is going to wonder why such a handsome young man is wasting his time with an old hag and I wouldn’t blame you if you were to leave. I just don’t see why you can’t change me—“ the growl that came from the back of his throat caused the hairs on the back of your neck to rise.
A few months in to your relationship, you began growing curious about how it would be like to become a vampire. Hearing Mark’s and his friend’s stories about their lives as vampires were very intriguing. However, when you brought up the idea of giving up your human life in order to spend the rest of eternity with your boyfriend, he was quick to shut that shit down. You’ve never seen him so angry before. He couldn’t blame you for being curious, but there was no way in hell he was going to let you do that.
“You can’t be serious y/n—why would you even want to make such a stupid decision? What makes you think I’m ever going to allow you to do such a stupid—I can’t even think right now. No, there’s no way. You don’t even know what you’re asking for. Fuck that.”
The tears were hot against your cheeks as they fell. You knew there was a huge chance he’d say no, but you didn’t think he would be so mean about it. The only reason why you’d want to become a vampire was because you wanted to spend your entirety with him. If you were to die one day, he’d still be on earth for many more centuries. You didn’t want to be without him. That’s all you were worried about and it hurt you to see that he wasn’t on the same page.
“I do know what I’m asking for. I’m asking to spend the rest of my life with the man that I love but I guess that’s wrong of me and asking for too much. I’m sorry for thinking about what’s going to happen to us one day Mark. I’m going die one day, did you forget that? There’s no way we can be together forever because forever doesn’t exist for me Mark. I’m going to die one day and you’re going to have to find another woman to love—“ seeing you cry, especially knowing that he was the reason for your tears made Mark feel like such an asshole. He didn’t think about it like that. He just knew that he hated being a vampire. If he had the choice, he’d still be a human.
He wishes every single day that he could’ve experienced what it felt like to have kids, to graduate from college, to travel the world alongside of his family, to get married, buy a house with the person that he loved. But he can’t even do simple things like that and he’ll never know how it feels. He doesn’t want you to have your life practically stripped away from you because of his selfish needs. Mark has thought about that on multiple occasions. Jinyoung even brought the subject up to him once and he almost got socked in the face for it.
You told him how you were so excited to experience motherhood and he knew you couldn’t do that as a vampire. He wanted you for the rest of his life. The idea of you marrying someone else and starting a family with someone who wasn’t him sent a painful and gut wrenching feeling to his stomach. Before you could continue your sentence, you were being pulled in to his embrace and he wrapped one of his hands around the back of your neck as he placed the other one in your hair.
“I’m never going to find another woman to love and it’s because you are my person. You are the only person I love and the only person I’m ever going to love you understand me? I love you with every fiber of my pathetic being and every non-existent beat with this lifeless heart of mine. I hate being a vampire y/n. I hate it with a passion. I have to watch people I become close to die. I constantly have to travel so it doesn’t seem weird that I’ve been 24 years old my entire life. I don’t eat, I don’t feel pain like humans do, I can’t have kids; I can’t give you everything you want baby and that’s why I refuse to do that to you. People talk so much shit about us, how we’re destined for hell and how we kill innocent people when it’s not the truth.”
He paced back and forth across the room before taking his place back next to you on the bed before bringing you on top of his lap. “The day you die is the day I’ll die too. I’m never going to live without you. I don’t care how old you get, I’m always going to think you’re the most ethereal human being to exist. Even with white hair and wrinkles, you’re still going to be exceptionally beautiful my love. You know, as much as I wish I never died and that I never became what I am, I know everything happens for a reason and you are that reason. If this never happened to me, I would have never met you. I don’t think I would’ve been this in love with someone to the point where I’m willing to give up anything and everything to be with that person. To be with you. I’m sorry for making you cry baby. I’d want you to change for the same reasons you want to, but no. I couldn’t do that to you. I could never live with myself knowing that I turned you in to a monster. I love you more than you will ever know y/n. Now let me show you just how much.”
You let a hysterical snicker fall from your lips as you recalled that memory and Mark was quick to get up from his comfortable position on your bed. “Please don’t start y/n. We went over this already. I don’t know what else to do or say to get it in to that stubborn mind of yours that this life is not what you want! Will you please listen to me? Just this once? I’m never going to allow you to become a vampire. Ever. This conversation is over.”
When Mark got mad, he would get real mad. You weren’t sure if it was a vampire thing or because he was always short tempered, but whenever the two of you would argue, he would raise his voice and sometimes throw things around but he was trying to work on his anger in fear of scaring you. You felt a pang of sadness hit your chest, why did you always have to ruin things? Everything was going so well. You just had to hit him where you knew he was sensitive and now there was a huge amount of animosity in the air.
“I’ve ruined things didn’t I? I’m sorry Mark. I should go back to studying—“ your boyfriend was quick to reach at your waist and brought you back to your previous position, as if what just went down between the two of you didn’t happen at all.
“No, you didn’t ruin anything baby. I should be the one apologizing. I didn’t mean to yell at you, it’s just a touchy subject. I know where you’re coming from, I just wish you could understand where I’m coming from too. And there’s no way I’m letting you return to your studies while I’m still hard as a rock. Come on baby, ride me like the professional cowgirl I know you to be.”
You gave him a sad smile before placing a chaste kiss on the corner of his mouth and finding your spot on top of his lap. You playfully began to trace his hardened member through his underwear earning yourself a pleasuring hiss. Mark was quick to hide his face in the crook of your neck as you released him from his restraints. You brought your thumb up to the head and ran it along his slit and around the tip, swiping up the precum and you made sure to pull your boyfriend out of his hiding place so that he could watch as you seductively brought his cum in to your mouth. Seeing his eyes roll to the back of his head made you giggle, you loved the effect you had on him.
“Mmm, are you sure I can’t suck the life out of you babe—“
“Y/n if you know what’s best for you you’ll shut up and sit down on top of this dick right now.” A breathy moan fell from your lips at his hoarse and raspy voice and you found yourself lining his cock at your entrance. As soon as you sank down on him, the two of you whined in unison at how it felt. No matter how many times you and Mark have had sex in the three years of being together, you never got used to the stretch. Your boyfriend in more or less words was extremely well endowed. He knew to give you a few moments to get used to how it felt having him inside of you, so he waited for you to move even if he was slowly losing his resolve.
“Baby, you okay?” You nodded against his chest and left a soft kiss there.
“You can move Mark, I’m fine. I need it too.” He didn’t waste any time thrusting inside of you while you began meeting him halfway, bouncing against him at a rapid pace. You wrapped your arms against his neck with his hands gripping tightly on your hips. Countless swears and flustered grunts fell from Mark’s lips every time you crashed on top of his lap. The sounds of your ass clapping against his pelvis echoed throughout the room along with both of your content sighs and countless moans of pleasure.
“Fuck y/n, you feel so fucking good—so wet and so fucking tight. You’re taking me so well. Your breasts look so pretty like this, you’re so beautiful.” You gave him a tired smile, although you were on top your boyfriend was the definition of a power bottom. He met each and every bounce with a thrust, his cock gliding deliciously against your velvety walls. You felt his fangs graze against your neck and you knew exactly what he was going to do.
Biting you and sometimes even sucking on your blood was a force of habit of your boyfriend’s. The first time he did it, it was an accident and he was horrified by what he did, especially because he was addicted to the taste of your blood and couldn’t find it in himself to stop. It was overwhelming. Even if you knew Mark didn’t drink blood straight from a human, it was only natural for him to get hooked on any sort of blood if he had the opportunity. You were no different; in fact, he’s never been so addicted to someone’s blood before.
For some odd reason, it turned you on and you didn’t understand why. Maybe because it established his dominance or because it wasn’t something you were used to, but you let him know he could bite you whenever he wanted to. As soon as he sank his teeth in to your neck, the moan that fell from your lips was embarrassingly loud. He didn’t spend too much time loving on your neck because he didn’t want you passing out, but you could feel your orgasm building the longer he kept his fangs in the juncture of your nape.
“You’re close aren’t you baby? I am too, but I don’t want to come like this. I wanna hit it from the back, can you get off me real quick?” You did as you were told, mainly because doggy style was one of your favorite positions. Mark would hit you deeper in this position and could reach further inside of you. He took no time lining himself up at your entrance and turned your face so that he could connect your lips together. As soon as he entered you, he shoved your head in to your pillow and began plunging himself in and out of you like his life depended on it.
To your surprise, he slapped both of your ass cheeks all the while bringing you closer to him. Your breasts began to jiggle with every thrust and you couldn’t help the muffled screams that came every time his pelvis kissed your cervix. The air was extremely thick and your room wreaked of sex.
“Faster Mark—please go faster. It feels—feels so good. Harder baby—mmm—“ To your delight, he did exactly as he was told. He wrapped his fingers around your neck, making sure not to grip all too tight but just enough to drive you to the brink of insanity. His cock continued grazing against your clit while hitting as deep as he could go. Before you knew it, he was filling you up to the hilt with his warm, creamy liquid and you did your best to milk him of all that he had.
“Come on baby, let go. Come for me.” Not too long after his release, you were chasing your own. Mark gave you a few moments to catch your breath before flipping you on your back and flopping himself on top of you. Your sticky bodies immersed in sweat and your arousal practically clung together. The older boy grinned softly when he felt your heart race against his chest.
“Can you handle one more round my love? I want to make slow, sensual love to you. You don’t have to do a thing, just sit back and enjoy the ride.”
He intertwined your hands together and brought them up on either side of your head. Once he felt like you were ready for him, he started to leave wet, sloppy kisses all around your face and down your nape, hovering over your love bite from when he sank his teeth in your neck. Since Mark was aware the two of you were going to continue your love making session, he had yet to clean you up. Therefore, the excess cum that was left over was used as lubricant and it made it easier for him to slip inside of your already drenched pussy.
He could sense that you were tired, the two of you have been going at this for almost two hours and you were already exhausted from all the all nighters you’ve been pulling, so he didn’t want to tire you out entirely. He lifted your chin up so that you were making eye contact with him so that he could look at you as he fucked you. Eye contact was a huge part of sex, Mark loved looking at you while ramming himself inside of you. Something about it was so erotic yet extremely romantic. When he finally found himself balls deep inside of you, he slowly bottomed in and out of you. He continued his slow pace but practically slammed himself in your core each and every time he pulled out. Seeing him smile adoringly at you while he was drilling himself inside of you made your cheeks warm.
“Baby. I—love—you—so—fucking—much y/n. I can’t even fathom it in to words.” He confessed his love for you with each and every thrust and before you knew it, the both of you were coming together for the second time that night. Once you both reached your ends, he lowered himself on top of you and the two of you stayed like that for a few moments just basking in one another’s presence. He ran his fingers through your hair while you dragged your fingers along his back, tracing over some of the scratches you absentmindedly left while he was fucking you so good.
“I’m gonna go start us up a bath, I’ll be right back.” With one more kiss on your temple, he left you alone with your thoughts. You were exhausted beyond belief. It was always like that whenever it was Mark’s turn to be dominant. The pleasurable soreness between your thighs only made you crave having him inside of you again but you knew you needed to take a break. When you felt his presence at the side of your bed, you tried your best to turn and face him but your thighs were jelly at this point. Mark’s adorable high pitch laugh engulfed your room when he came to the realization that he did exactly what he said he was going to do and wrecked your pussy beyond words.
He picked you up bridal style and led you to your bathroom, stepping inside of the tub and carefully sitting down with you on his lap. Your body melded perfectly with his and his arms wrapped protectively around your waist as he placed his chin on your shoulder.
“I didn’t hurt you too badly did I?” You shook your head in disagreement before tracing patterns on his thigh.
“No, it was wonderful as always. You always take such good care of me. It was a nice little breather from my studies.”
He hummed gently against your skin, the vibration made your heart flutter. “I should make it a thing where you get rewarded every time you do well in school. Like, for every A you get on your report card this semester, I’ll eat you out for an hour.” You rolled your eyes, already knowing that Mark would eat you out whether or not you got good grades. The two of you sat in the tub in silence, the only noise you could hear was the sound of a candle flickering but you liked it like that.
“I like listening to your heartbeat. Especially when it increases, like when you see me, when you get drunk off your ass and say a little too much, or when I’m rearranging your guts. Yeah, I think it beats the fastest when I’m blowing your back out—I’m really glad I don’t feel pain or develop bruises. I’m sure people would give me weird looks if they were to see how many marks you leave on me from the numerous times you hit me—hit me one more time y/n and I’m going to take you right here and right now. I’m sure your boss hates me from how many times you had to call in sick because of how rough I can be.”
He nipped and sucked just below your earlobe and whispered sweet nothings while playing with your fingers. It was in moments like these where you grew selfish, your conversation from earlier replayed again in your mind and you knew Mark could hear your thoughts by the way he released a frustrated sigh. To think, the two of you almost didn’t end up having sex because you had to be vocal about your selfish desires in wanting to become a vampire.
“I still would’ve fucked you even if the argument progressed. Y/n, I’m serious. It’s you and me forever, that’s all you need to know. There’s so much to this life that you wouldn’t be able to understand nor get used to. Please baby, trust me on this okay? There were so many times I wished Nina just let me die that night but then again, I would’ve never met you, the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I meant what I said in the beginning of our relationship baby, I’m not going anywhere. You’re stuck with me. I’ve been on this earth for so fucking long and I’m not kidding when I say these last three years have been the best three years of my entire life and it’s all because of you. I don’t know what I did to deserve you, but I’ll spend the rest of my life proving to you that God made the right choice in making you mine. I never believed in soulmates before, but now I know that you and I are each other’s—God—I hate how cheesy I became since we dated. But it doesn’t matter, you make me want to be cheesy.”
You snickered. “You’re such a lame boyfriend.”
“Yeah, but I’m your lame boyfriend—that’s it. We’re getting out of here and I want you  face down and ass up on the bed, I’m going to impale you with my stake—hahaha—that was a good one I’m a fucking comedic genius.”

Chapter 3 is finally done! Sorry it took longer - finals week happened and it was a harder chapter to write for some reason. I'm excited to finish this story though - we're half-way through :)
Chapter 3: Lighting the flame
Christopher met his friends outside, where they piled into a carriage and set off for the Devil Tavern. The atmosphere between them was still tense; James and Matthew, sitting across from him, were quiet. Christopher wished, as he so often did, that he understood people better. He hated it when they all fought, and now it was partly his fault and he didn’t know how to fix it. Thankfully, James took the initiative.
“Kit,” he began, “we’re sorry for being so confrontational. It’s only you have to understand how it looks from our perspective. Grace’s actions, even if she regrets them, caused a great deal of pain.” James looked troubled.
“Thomas shared some of what you all learned yesterday talking to Jesse,” Matthew said softly. “About how bad things were for her with Tatiana. And it…well I still don’t trust her but it sounds like she’s trying to be – to be better. And I out of everyone should be sympathetic to that.” His hand moved unconsciously to his jacket. He had stopped carrying a flask everywhere but after so many years of drinking, it was still a reflex to reach for the alcohol.
James seemed to notice this motion, and clasped his parabatai’s shoulder briefly in support, then returned his attention to Christopher. “I suppose what I’ll say is that I cannot soon forget what Grace has done, and I prefer to avoid her,” James said carefully, “but I – none of us – should be trying to control who you spend time with Kit. I am sorry. If you trust her, then we shall trust you.”
“Oh, jolly good,” Christopher said, immensely relieved. He hated conflict, especially with his friends. “I am sorry that I didn’t think to mention her helping. She’s the first friend I’ve ever made.”
His friends all looked suddenly gut-punched for some reason. “Kit, do you not think we’re friends?” Matthew asked, appearing quite distressed.
“Of course we are! Aren’t we?” Christopher was, for a second time that evening, horribly confused.
“But you just said –” James began, looking stricken.
“Do you mean she’s the first friend that you personally have made, on your own, Kit?” Thomas asked, understanding Christopher best as usual.
“Precisely!” Christopher said, then realized, “Ah, I understand now how that sounded. I meant that – well, I’m related to two of you and we all just sort of fell in together didn’t we? I have never made a friend on my own.” The rest of the Merry Thieves relaxed visibly.
“Fair enough,” Matthew said, looking relieved. “Honestly Kit, Grace Bla – sorry , Cartwright – out of everyone you could choose for a friend.” He shook his head but there was a teasing glint in his eye.
“She’s really a wonderful lab partner!” Christopher assured them cheerfully. “She’s been organizing everything and making an inventory. And she had a wonderful insight the other day about this reaction with sulfuric acid.”
Thomas shifted on the seat next to Christopher as he said “I never would have expected scientific curiosity from Grace of all people, but she was right at home in that laboratory today.”
“Honestly, it took me a second to recognize her – wearing a dark dress, and those ridiculous goggles that you also wear in the lab,” Matthew said, gesturing at Christopher.
“They may not be fashionable, but they are very important as protective gear,” Christopher told him.
Matthew shuddered slightly but smiled good-naturedly as he said, “And that is why I will never pursue science. Terrible field for the fashion-minded.” This started him on a wild story about finding a new waistcoat earlier that week. Christopher was quite satisfied that peace had been restored, and thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the night with his friends.
_________________________________________________________
The following Wednesday, Christopher was even more eager than usual to get to Grosvenor Square – Henry was due to arrive back in London that morning. He was keen to get Henry’s thoughts on several projects, especially the runed guns and the fire messages.
Christopher started the morning by testing another rune combination on a message. This attempt ended, as many did, in a small explosion. He was still putting out a fire on the lab table when Grace arrived for the day. She greeted him briefly before starting to set up a reaction flask. During her organization of the lab she had come across a vial with some mysterious white powder. Christopher had no idea what it was, so they decided it would be an intriguing exercise for her to determine the contents.
Soon after Grace’s arrival, a humming noise sounded, then a whistling, signaling that the elevator down to the lab was in use. Christopher hurried over as the doors opened. “Welcome back, Henry!” he said, grinning.
Henry looked just the same as always, with perhaps a bit more gray in his hair after the stress of the past few months. “Kit, my boy!” he greeted as he maneuvered his Bath chair out of the elevator and towards the lab table. “How are things going? Any progress on those guns with the pithos? And you must help me examine this sample of water I brought back from Alicante, I wonder if we could try using it in another version of demon repelling ointment. Being around so many wards, it may be imbued with some demon-repelling properties.” He reached the work table and paused as he finally noticed Grace standing there. Henry looked bewildered and Christopher struggled to remember whether he had mentioned Grace in his letter to Henry. He was fairlysure that he had.
“Hello!” Henry said to her pleasantly, “You’re the one with the demon powers that was briefly engaged to my son. Gladys, yes?” Well, letter or otherwise, at least Henry remembered her.
“Grace, actually,” she replied, looking tense, her posture stiff. “I do want to apologize again for…everything.”
Henry waved off her concern and said, “It all ended alright didn’t it? Charles Buford will find someone else. And Kit mentioned you’ve been a great help in the lab recently!”
Good, Christopher thought, I did remember to include that in the letter.
“I would actually be quite interested to hear about your power and how it worked. Especially through a bracelet, fascinating!” Henry continued as he maneuvered towards the rack of chemicals.
Grace appeared exceedingly uncomfortable, but quickly warmed up to Henry throughout the day as he described various project ideas to her and took a look at her reactions. By that evening, when all three were involved in a lengthy discussion about runes and the application of runes to invention, it was as if Grace had always been part of the team. Christopher was delighted anew that Grace understood both he and Henry in a way that very few others did.
They finally finished for the night after Charlotte had called down the stairs three times with increasing insistence about coming up for dinner. Grace left to catch a carriage home with a smile on her face. Christopher wished briefly that she could stay longer, but he was comforted by the fact that she would return in the morning.
_________________________________________________________
“Hullo Grace!” Christopher said happily as she entered the lab early the next day. He then bent back down to examine a glass slide under the microscope. Henry was occupied entertaining some visitors with Charlotte, but Christopher was already hard at work. “You must come take a look at this sample of water from Lake Lyn that Henry brought,” he told her. It was fascinating watching the microorganisms move about in the droplet under the lens. When Grace did not immediately respond, he looked up and actually got a good look at her face. “I say, is something wrong, Grace? You’re a bit –” He was about to say ‘splotchy’, for her normally pale face was quite red in parts. He caught himself at the last second however, remembering his mother saying that a gentleman should never remark on a lady’s less-than-favorable appearance. “You look upset,” he said instead. She was not her normal cool and collected self.
He thought that Grace would brush off his concern, and she indeed stiffened and started to turn away. Then she met his gaze and her shoulder slumped in resignation. “I encountered Charles on my way in,” she explained.
“Ah. I forgot that he would be returning with Henry,” Christopher said, wincing. “Things are still awkward after ending the engagement then?”
“More than awkward,” she answered, expression still pinched. “He is still extremely upset that I manipulated his mind. Said I’d made a fool of him and he doesn’t want me in his house.” She set her coat and hat down on the stool with more force than strictly necessary.
Christopher frowned and said, “Technically it’s Henry and Charlotte’s house.”
A faint smile rose on Grace’s lips. “That’s precisely what I told him, and I mentioned that I worked with Henry just yesterday. He then called you both ‘trusting fools’ and made some…unflattering statements about my personage.”
“Well perhaps if we give him some more time, he’ll come round!” Christopher said optimistically. “I suppose it’s easier for me to say since you only used your power on me once or twice compared to the many more times you used it on him.”
Grace looked at him, pale brows drawn together in puzzlement. “I never used my power on you, Christopher,” she said slowly.
Christopher was wholly astonished by her statement. “You – never? Really?” he asked, mentally reeling. “What ho! But the night you came to the laboratory and helped me figure out the pithos I – are you sure?”
Grace shook her head. “Never. I’m completely sure,” she said firmly. “I would have apologized if I had, I –” she stared at him, looking almost indignant. “You really invited me here, have been working with me, and all this time you though I had manipulated you that night? And never gave you a formal apology?” she asked incredulously.
“When you asked about joining me in the lab that first day, you apologized for everything again. I assumed that included any time you used your power on me!” Christopher said, thoughts racing. He had been so eager to help her that night. Although now that he thought about it, they had discussed a lot of science, which he now knew Grace was genuinely interested in. “Why didn’t you?” he asked her, very curious.
Grace hesitated before saying, “I didn’t need to. You weren’t bothered by my being there and you were happy to show me around.” Something flickered in her pale eyes. “I never liked using my power when I could avoid it. I suppose because I knew that it was wrong,” she added. She looked as if she might say something else, but at that moment a whistling noise from the elevator indicated that Henry was on his way down to the lab.
They were soon absorbed in experimenting and discussing theories but at points Christopher found his focus drifting back to their conversation, and even farther back to that first night in the lab. It seemed like Grace had used her power on nearly everyone at some point, yet incredibly, she had never used it on him despite numerous opportunities. Christopher didn’t know what to make of that.
_________________________________________________________
It was just Christopher and Henry in the lab the following day. Grace was training with Jesse, and then planned to take a tour around the city with her brother, Lucie, and Ariadne (who was apparently going by Kamala these days). Christopher could never be bored working with Henry but after having Grace’s constant companionship for nearly a month it was…strange, to be working with only Henry and not her.
The day’s work proved incredibly successful, however. Upon Henry’s suggestion, Christopher added a bridge rune to the fire communication rune he had been tinkering with for months. He was thrilled to observe the message burn up and reform a few feet away. Henry, delighted, helped him replicate the results numerous times to prove that it was a repeatable phenomenon. Henry demonstrated it for a startled Charlotte (she had been interrupted in the middle of writing a letter in her office). She beamed, proud of them both, giving Henry a congratulatory kiss.
Christopher could not wait to share the good news with Grace. He wished she had been there to see it the first time, but no matter – there would be plenty of time to demonstrate it tomorrow.
He and Henry spent the rest of the afternoon trying to get the messages to travel farther than a few feet. Although foiled in these attempts, the breakthrough left them both very pleased as they finished for the day.
_________________________________________________________
Christopher was waiting at the entrance for Grace the next morning, eager to share the news. She looked startled to find him right behind the door as it opened, which he supposed was unusual given that they always met down in the lab. She had barely finished saying good morning before he could not contain his excitement and exclaimed, “You must come see the breakthrough Henry and I made yesterday, Grace! We’re so close to having a working fire-message!” He caught her arm and hurried her to the stairs down to the lab. She seemed a bit disoriented by his sudden enthusiasm but listened intently with a bemused smile as he explained the thought process behind the rune combination they had tried.
They reached the work table and Christopher quickly traced out the new rune. The paper burned up and reformed a few feet in front of them. When it reappeared, Grace grinned widely. “Incredible!” she declared, and she snatched the paper to study the rune. It occurred to Christopher that Grace had a very nice smile. She normally had a serious face, but smiles had become more frequent as the weeks had passed.
“What have you tried adding to this so far?” she asked. Christopher grabbed his notebook and they reviewed what he had recorded the previous day.
“Do you mind if I try some things?” Grace asked. “I’ve been studying that book on runes that Henry gave me – I think I may have a few ideas.”
“By all means!” Christopher told her, delighted. “I could use a break from runes after all the work yesterday. I think I’ll experiment with the Lake Lyn water today and try a demon-repelling ointment again.”
“All right, then,” she said, and set to work with a determined expression.
Later that afternoon, Henry already finished for the day and off to some important dinner, Christopher was checking the now-complete inventory list. “Blast!” he said softly, then called over to Grace, “Do you remember seeing nightshade anywhere when you were organizing?”
She pursed her lips in thought, then shook her head. “No, none,” she answered.
“I suppose I’ll be taking a trip to the Shadow Market tonight then,” Christopher said. He was determined to try combining some nightshade extract with the new demon-repelling ointment he was developing.
“The Shadow Market?” Grace queried, eyebrows raised in interest. “Do you go there often? I wanted to go before when I was looking for something to help Jesse, but I was never confident that I could find my way around.”
“It’s a wonderful place! I have to go fairly often for ingredients that are, er, not strictly approved by the Clave,” he explained. “Oh!” he said, struck by an obvious thought, “would you like to accompany me tonight?”
“I would love to,” Grace said, looking excited. She sent a letter to Jesse to inform him of the change in plans, and eagerly questioned Christopher about various aspects of the Market.
They each wrapped up their work as the sun began to set, the changing sky visible from a high window in the basement. Christopher was locating his coat and hat when he realized he should ask Grace about weapons. It was unlikely they’d face any demons in the carriage or Shadow Market, but it was good to be prepared. She had daggers on her already, but he offered her a seraph blade in addition. Ready, with ingredient list in hand, the set out to the carriage.
Christopher offered Grace an arm up, then followed her in. Their knees brushed together as he settled on the seat opposite Grace and the carriage began moving. Christopher noticed that she looked somewhat flushed. “Would you like the window open?” he asked. “You look a bit warm.”
“No, I’m perfectly comfortable, thank you,” she said, appearing discomposed. “What are you hoping to accomplish with the nightshade that you’ll be getting?” she asked.
Christopher happily launched into a lengthy explanation of his thought process and the previous attempts at demon-repelling ointment, and the discussion lasted them all the way to the Shadow Market.
