#Hey OP I feel the need to mention that while the PCE kitties can canonically digest veggies#Their flour is not handwaved by that and is made of bugs#Like I am not sure how it would work in the real world but they make flour from crickets and ants
@newworldenderdragon
No I am aware of that. You can't make flour out of insects though-- the fact that they're making cookies out of pure crickets and ants suggests there's something else a lot easier to gather in the cookies and the insects are supplementing it
"Cricket flour" is a misnomer. When you grind up crickets you get a sort of protein powder that, when heated, has the texture of hot sand. You add it to shakes and real flour to add nutritional value.
So I just kinda wish the game had more non-baked good dishes. Cricket 'flour' wasn't a solution to bread having no value to cats. For my tunnelbuns I made them based on pasties and not pastries. Like, an empanada, filled with meat inside and the crust is just for transport, y'know?
warriors bite that appearing in a dream and lives in my brain forever now: cricket cakes. small pastry dishes filled with crickets either in the batter like chocolate chip pancakes or filled with crickets INSIDE
One of my planned entries is going to be something called "grubcakes," which are a sort of bug mash and mincemeat bound together with eggs.
In consistency they're like mini-meatloaves, fried on a grillstone with a little bit of flax oil. They serve a culinary niche like pancakes; served as breakfast.
But the big difference between grubcakes and pancakes is that insects are actually CHOCK FULL of fats, the exact kind of fat that is lacking in WindClan's diet of rabbits. So eating these is necessary for the good health of a WindClan warrior... and Mudclaw HATES them
#Re: Still love PCE but as Cat Food Dude it's a pet peeve#I understand the vibe of the site though. It's just supposed to be a soft game about cute not-cats in a storybook setting#Very very different vibe from the Clan Culture series which is like#''creating a somewhat realistic culture for hyperintelligent cats in northern england''#And I can respect that#But also worldbuilding gremlin deep inside of me is like STOP GIVING CATS COOKIES#SO MANY WAYS TO PREPARE JERKY#you don't want to see me when I've got my guys adventuring in that game man#I'm thinking about how I'd cook those leaf mites#Bro they look like landcrabs do you know how delicious those legs would be?#Ouuuughhhhh leaf mite crab cakes#what if the leaf dragon tails were made of meat and you could steam stuff inside of them like a banana leaf#I'd bottle up the whisps and use them as a flambe for cat frenchonion soup#come here nestor youre so delicious i just wanna talk#bone babble
