Do you think that -in the inevitable MK vs. his friends confrontation- Mei will accidentally seriously hurt him with the Samadhi fire? 🤔
Since strong emotions can cause it to run haywire, and there is nothing that would make her more afraid than having to fight her best friend.
There is NO way that they are completely done with the Samadhi fire. (Unless she lost it?? Subodhi did say she 'once' wielded it. So not anymore???)
But yeah- I bet it would come back into play during the MK/Mei battle. Especially if LBD mistook MK‘s destiny for her own. (Since that one vision she showed made it look like MK was burning before the world exploded. And she wanted everything he ended up having; the staff, his own powers, the Samadhi fire -indirectly, and well, a new title that implies destruction on a reality shattering scale.)
My view is that post the Embrace Your Destiny special, they resealed the Samadhi Fire (unsure if Mei still has her piece with her or if they successfully resealed it into 3 rings this time). We at the very least know she doesn't have it in s4 (MK has to save her in 4x01, she's worried about losing her sword in 4x05 which she didn't need with the Samadhi Fire in EYD, the Subodhi quote you mentioned). But, I don't think Mei using the Samadhi Fire again is completely out of the question. There are things that have come back that I never expected to be acknowledged again (The 1x01 seal being the same as the 4x01 and 4x14 flower fruit mountain seal was a huge shocker for me).
So the Samadhi Fire coming back into play with the MK/Mei battle? That would work super well! Especially with the way characters tend to reach for power and endanger their loved ones. It's a huge risk to take again, but if they feel they don't have any other choice it's something we know they're willing to resort to.
#tbh I'm expecting LBD's visions to be recontextualized at some point#as well as like#what she needed MK for and her og plan to ''undo the memories of the world''#Now that the scroll of memory is a thang#And as far as I can tell the scroll is not a thang from jttw#meaning it's an lmk original#also meaning that MK is like. For CERTAIN tied to the scroll being an lmk original himself#Like how many scenes can we have of MK being othered from his friends before I go mad#Like in 3x09 when he doesn't recognize the place where they sealed the rings but everyone else does#Or in 4x02 where the scroll of memory has everyone except MK on there (including LBD and SQ for some reason)#Or at the end of 4x14 where they're like ''this is what real heroes look like'' and MK isn't there#''I wonder when we'll meet my ancestor'' and then we don't meet his ancestor but we meet everyone else's#Come on lmk bring it full circle do it for me#''A simple creature—with no past no family and no name.'' inch resting#a being with no memories and no memories of them eh#I swear it's connected#Which is funny because I had accepted that they had just retconned the erasing memory bit#But now I'm thinking it's cause MK was needed for that part#''You're right MK. Without you none of this would have been possible—a delivery boy to the end'' or. or a harbinger perhaps#Hmm I went a little off the rails in the tags but when don't I#lmk#lego monkie kida#asks#hero mei warrior mk

Lady Bone Demon: "*laughs* So we meat again son of the Demon Bull King. You're right, I never quite thanked you for freeing me from my prison. Your father was a most fitting host for my power in the time that we had." [...] Lady Bone Demon: "That is one other thing I must thank you for! Creating the Samadhi Fire. Why, without you I would have never been able to fulfill my destiny."
(3x12 The Corrupted King)

Lady Bone Demon: "You're right MK, if you had never found that staff none of this would have been possible—a delivery boy till the end."
Lady Bone Demon: Now watch as I fulfill my destiny and begin this world anew! No monkey king, no monkey kid! Nothing!
(3x14 Destiny Fulfilled)

So, what are your thoughts on the "omg what if MK breaks the staff" of the MK vs SWK predictions?
So, admittedly I have never thought about this or heard of this. But now that the idea's been presented to me...
I kinda love it.
Post s3 I was expecting the staff to have a little bit more of a negative connotation moving forward (since MK tends to use it as a crutch/feels he needs it in seasons 1-3). In 4x08 we get MK saying "It's always my fault! Ever since I picked up Monkey King's staff I-" echoing Tangs words in 3x13 "MK, from the moment you picked up the Monkey King's staff, their stories became our stories. It's our responsibility to write the final chapter, no matter the outcome." and LBD's words in 3x14 "You're right MK. If you had never found that staff none of this would have been possible. A delivery boy to the end."
But, other than that—even despite the fact MK had assumed his powers came from the staff and he felt "incomplete without it"—in s4 MK returns to using the staff like normal.
Now, in s4 we also see Wukong using the staff more than we ever had before. In 4x07 he grabs the staff to attack the curse, and in the s4 special MK both gifts back Monkey King the staff (a moment I will never get over) and MK/SWK trade off using the staff against Azure. Whereas Wukong had given the staff to MK in AHIB, it seems now they have a sort of dual ownership over it. Which, I'm super excited to see how that plays out moving forward—but I also wonder if they're saving MK's eventual departure from the staff for later. One thing that I always notice watching s4 is the fact that while MK's in Monkey Form, he never uses the staff to attack. He only uses himself as a weapon ("You don't use a weapon, you are a weapon!" anyone?) so I think it's definitely going a "MK is going to no longer need/use the staff" direction.
And now, if the writers were to force this to happen by having MK break it during his fight with Wukong...that would be super interesting. I would quite possibly lose my whole entire shit, and I don't have many of those to spare.
#I can't believe Wukong gave MK his staff and MK gave it back (symbolically at least).#Like. That was basically entrusting the role of Monkey King to MK and MK fucking gave it back. It's so funny to me#''Here kid. The world is now in your hands- or no never mind I guess we can share it.''#You know what I mean#MK's gonna wish he still needed the staff in s5 me thinks lol#Now the staff's kinda a symbol of the s1 monster-of-the-week he can't return to#And yet it's also a marker for when this all started#at least from MK's perspective#HM. Okay but the staff being representative of MK's relationship to Monkey King#AND IF MK WERE TO BREAK IT#GOD. That's going on the wishlist#lmk#lego monkie kid#lmk analysis#lmk MK#lmk SWK#SWK V MK#asks#originally I was like ''I can't believe MK got his magical crutch item back'' and now I'm like hm. It's not gonna end well is it#Like it never ends well#Of course he's not just gonna lose it. It's gotta be worse than that they gotta make us suffer with it#On my hands an knees imagine SWK trying to give MK the staff back and then Mk just snaps it in two#the drama
