Penny woke up three weeks later to Clint on one side of her and Rhodey on the other. A heavy weight on her legs told her that Wanda had shifted down during the night.

"Morning birdie." Clint kissed her cheek when he saw she was awake. "Happy Birthday. You're twenty-eight today."

"Ugh I'm old." Penny whined, trying to put her head back under the pillow and go back to sleep.

"The rest of us are forty." Clint chuckled.

"Damn you're ancient." Penny teased and was immediately attacked on the other side by Rhodey as he tickled her.

"No!" She squealed, rolling around in the bed. She nearly kicked Wanda in the face, but the witch just stopped her foot with red magic and pinned her down so that Penny was giggling and in tears as she couldn't move from the tickles. "OKAY!" She shouted, giggling so hard that she thought her ribs might crack. "I'M SORRY!"

"Much better." Rhodey said and Penny groaned, rolling over to lay on her stomach. Her abs killing her from the laughing.

"You're a bunch of assholes." Penny whined.

"Tony's bad language is definitely rubbing off on you." Rhodey said.

"Clint curses as well." Wanda pointed out with a faint smile. "He's just as bad. Maybe worse."

"We have plans, is that okay?" Clint asked, flicking Wanda's ear with his finger, "I thought, you know, we could do a bunch of things today, as a group. But we don't have to, if you'd rather do something else?"

"No, I'm okay with whatever you guys want to do." Penny smiled warmly. "In fact, I don't really want to know what we're doing. I'll let everything be a surprise."

"Well, you'll dress warmly, that's about it." Rhodey said. "Well, dress. . . easily? Cause we're going to be inside a lot, but also outside a lot? It's a mix."

"Okay." Penny giggled. "Do you know what's for breakfast?"

Elizabeth had once again taken over the kitchen without any requests. It was just like she was a natural in the kitchen.

It wasn't the only hobby that Elizabeth had recently taken up in the two weeks of being alive again. She was also writing, though no one was allowed to read what she wrote. Elijah said she used to write short stories that were based on her dreams, but she eventually gave it up because she thought they were to weird.

When Loki asked if she had published any of those short stories anywhere, Elijah said yes. She had made a short book called 'The Collector's Club' under the writers name Braveclementine. But she didn't publish anything there anymore. But all of the stories that she had written before were still there.

She had also taken up. . . YouTube.

No one knew why she had taken up the video making hobby, but she busted out videos every day on things like Fortnite and something called Valorant. Once again, under the cover name of BraveClementine.

Ahem.

Penny, Clint, Rhodey, and Wanda headed down to the kitchen and before they even neared the kitchen, they could smell the strong scent of black coffee being boiled in the air.

"That's amazing." Clint moaned, inhaling, and speeding up to get to the kitchen faster.

"Happy Birthday Penny." Elizabeth said softly as they entered the kitchen. They weren't the first people up as Tony, Stephen, Loki, Elijah, Natasha, Steve, Bucky, and Sam were all awake as well. Most of them were wearing cable knit sweaters of various colours and jeans. The babies were in the high chairs. Elizabeth was feeding Mateo as she cooked, his mouth latched to her breast, her top parted to the side just slightly. Rue had clearly already been fed because Bucky was burping her.

"Are we matching today?" Rhodey joked, pointing out the outfits as he went over to get one of the blue berry muffins that had just come out of the oven.

"Hey it's cold out." Tony protested.

"No, we're definitely matching." Loki grumbled, "Otherwise I wouldn't wear such cumbersome Midgardian wear."

"It's warm. You're weird." Nat joked with him.

"No, he's Jotun." Bucky smirked. "Doesn't get cold."

"What kind of cake do you want for your birthday?" Elizabeth asked Penny, putting Mateo down in his high chair, leaning over to scoop Kisa up and let her attach herself to her breast. Steve's eyes followed every moment with a darkened lust.

"I like Red Velvet. But I'll eat whatever we have." Penny answered.

"We have Red Velvet." Elizabeth nodded.

"How do you know?" Clint asked with a grin.

"I saw everything in the cupboard yesterday. I made a list in my head." Elizabeth explained and then frowned a little, "There's a lot of baked goods in this house, isn't there?"

Tony laughed, knowing that it was Elizabeth who had put all of the sugary desserts in the tower, then sobered up a little in his slight sadness at why she didn't remember.

"What are we doing for your birthday? What do people do for a birthday?" Elizabeth asked excitedly as she sat down between Elijah and Trang at the breakfast table.

"They're surprising me." Penny explained, "I just know that we're going to be indoors part of the day and outdoors for the other part."

"Normally," Violetta said quickly. "Well, birthdays differ with age. Like for young kids, you usually throw a birthday party somewhere fun. Like a trampoline park or Main Event or the Web or a laser tag place. Something like that. We used to do Escape rooms when we were thirteen to fifteen."

"I did a Run, Jump, and Play for my seventh and eighth birthday." Katya said thoughtfully.

"What is a trampoline park?" Elizabeth asked.

"Oh you loved it. It's kind've how it sounds. A bunch of super bouncy trampolines to bounce on. Sometimes with obstacle courses. We went with the gymnastics team a couple of times. It was great." Vi said.

"And then as you grow up, it becomes more restaurants or parties at the houses or things like that. Less party design and more hanging out. Maybe at an amusement park like Kings Island or Coney Island." Katya continued.

"And then once you're an adult you usually don't have them as much." Ghaida smirked.

"Oh and sometimes birthday parties are themed." Vi added.

For some reason, they were all getting really excited about this conversation. The others just sat back and watched with amused expressions.

"Yeah!" Trang said enthusiastically. "We did a princess themed party for my seventeenth birthday."

Ghaida burst out laughing, "You had a Harry Potter themed birthday party for your nineteenth."

They continued to talk and Penny snuggled into Sam. He kissed the top of her head before he continued to keep eating his pancakes.

"Well," Loki chuckled, "Enjoy the day out. I prefer not-"

Both Tony and Stephen hit him on each side of his head. He yelped, nearly face planting in his eggs. He raised his head, looking left and then right. It took a split second before Stephen and Tony were sprinting from the kitchen and Loki was chasing after them with his fork in his hand.

They eventually left the tower. They even brought the children with them and Steve drove a van so that they could put the strollers in there.

Penny got into the sports car with Tony, a sulking Loki, and Happy who was actually doing the driving. Tony and Loki sat on either side of her and they teased her consistently on the entire ride so that she was wishing they were going back to the tower to get fucked.

The first place that they pulled up to was the New York Aquarium. Penny was pleasantly surprised and was even more pleased when they got out of the car and her mother and father were there waiting for her.

"Happy Birthday sweetheart." Fury said, hugging her tightly.

"Happy Birthday hon." Maria pulled her into a tight hug.

"Thanks mom, thanks dad." Penny said, glad that everyone she loved was here. Well except for a few Asgardians and Wakandans, but you couldn't have everything.

Steve and the rest of the group that had parked in the parking garage, came up the sidewalk now. It was a chilly February day but the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.

The babies were all swallowed up in little blankets, cuddled down in the strollers- except for Rue who was naturally in Bucky's arms. He almost never put the little girl down unless he had to or he was sleeping.

Sam joined her side immediately, slipping his warmer hand into hers and they started into the Aquarium.

The exhibits were amazing and she loved the different sets that they had up. Her favorite part of the Aquarium had always been going through the tunnels. There was something about it that made her feel like she really was in some sort of fantasy land.

There were a few interactive exhibits, with petting a certain striped shark, which Elizabeth said was called a pyjama shark.

They came to a rather open room where one whole wall was made of thick glass and you could look back as far as possible to see into the exhibit. There were also smaller exhibits on the walls that held other water creatures like crabs, seahorses, a small cylinder that clownfish swam in, and also a blue ringed octopus.

"How are you?" Elijah asked her as he joined her where she was staring at the small little seahorses. There was a video next to the exhibit that showed a male seahorse giving birth. It looked like it was sneezing.

"I'm great." Penny smiled, touching the glass. "Did you ever wish you could be an animal before?"

"When I was little." Elijah chuckled. "Always wondered what it would be like to have wings. I hadn't quite mastered flying with fire. But even though I can fly, I wonder what it would be like to fly effortlessly. To have wings. But. . . not quite like Sam or Kat, you know? Lan. . . he described it perfectly. He loved it."

Penny felt that tinge of sadness, but Elijah quickly countered the question, "You ever wish you were an animal?"

"Oh yeah." Penny laughed, "Seahorses actually. I don't really know why. I just wanted to be one."

Elijah chuckled again, turning around so he could lean against the exhibit and survey the area. "What a weirdo."

"Hey!" Penny slapped his arm playfully.

"Why are we abusing Elijah? I'm in!" Violetta came up on the other side of the Chinese man, hitting his shoulder.

"Ow!" Elijah whined, grabbing Violetta's arm and wrestling with her a little. "You're so mean to me."

Violetta giggled and said, "Watch it or I'll flip you over my shoulder. Send you flying into a display."

"As long as you don't break the glass and kill all the little fishies." Elijah joked.

Violetta gasped dramatically. "I wouldn't dare. . . I would drag you to the top of the stairs and dump you in the shark tank."

Elijah pouted, "I hate getting wet."

Trang, who had been walking by with Ghaida, immediately started to giggle and the two girls hurried away to another exhibit. Elijah rolled his eyes. "What! Fire doesn't like water! It's a well known fact."

"Yeah." Vi snorted, "Says fire boy whose married to water girl. Opposites attract there clearly."

Elijah stuck his tongue out and turned his back on her, pulling Penny into his arms, "You're so much nicer Penny. Violetta is so mean."

Penny giggled, letting the warmth of Elijah's hug take over her.

"Have you guys seen Elizabeth?" Steve asked with a slight frown, coming over to join them. "We were looking at the Japanese crabs and she suddenly just went quiet. I turned my back for one second and I can't find her."

Elijah sighed, releasing Penny. "I'll go and look ahead. She likes to wander off when she's around animals of any kind. Meanwhile, maybe you'll want to back-"

Suddenly, there were gasps and a few screams and their heads whirled around, looking for what was happening.

"What is it?" Penny asked. No one looked like they were hurt and she couldn't even see a commotion, "What's going on?"

Suddenly, she heard Elijah groan and she looked over to see he had hung his head back, his hands in his pockets. "Ugh, I really, really hate getting wet."

Penny looked over and nearly choked on air.

Elizabeth was in the fish tank.

"Hold this." Elijah sighed, handing Penny his jacket and then he quickly weaved in and out of the room.

"How did she get in there?" Penny asked, astounded.

Violetta started to laugh, "Man, she really had to do this again?"

"Again?" Penny and Steve questioned together.

"Oh yeah, she did this at the Newport Aquarium as well." Violetta chuckled, "When she realized that not only can she control water and ice, but she can talk to any animal that belongs to the water. She decided to jump in with the otters and play with them. Of course, she didn't show her face. She dressed up as Frozaline and went. Got the Aquarium amazing press coverage and their revenue and visits skyrocketed."

"Why would she do it now though?" Steve asked.

Ghaida overheard and came over, "She's rediscovering her water powers."

"What do you mean?" Tony asked. The Avengers were all converging onto this spot so nearly everyone was here.

"Well, she hasn't used her water powers since she was reborn." Ghaida explained, "So being in a place with so much water is going to be a strong pull to her. My knowledge has let me know she actually doesn't know where she is or what she is doing. The water has possessed her, taken control of her."

"What does that mean for her?" Bucky asked, worry in his voice.

"Well, nothing." Ghaida answered. "Water can't hurt her. The only problem we could possibly have is if she loses control of the water. She could collapse the entire Aquarium."

"And you only think to let us know that now!" Clint panicked.

"She won't." Violetta and Ghaida said confidently at the same time.

Penny felt the worry inside of her grow however. She turned and saw the water ripple, as Elijah dived into the water and joined her.

👣📿 ＰＯ𝐕 𝓬Ħ𝐀𝓃𝓖Ẹ 🧿🍟

He swam down, joining his soulmate in the middle of the fish tank. As expected, her normal brown eyes were an icy blue and wide open, unblinking. Still holding his breath, he reached out and grabbed her arm.

Her power swelled and he found himself able to breathe once again, the weight of the water lifting to nonexistent. He breathed in and said, "Elizabeth, I need you to come back to me, Milady."

Elizabeth blinked in response. Her hair floated around her, stretching like tendrils in every direction. Sharks and fish swam around them in interest. Elijah knew that she could speak to them, know what they were thinking, and he also knew that they would not hurt her. And while he was with her, they would not hurt him.

"Elizabeth," He said softly. "You can control this, I know you can. You're the most powerful elemental I know. This water is a part of you, you are not a part of it. Do not let it take you over."

Elizabeth looked confused but her eyes did not change, she did not come back.

He wondered if any authorities had been called. He had to get her out of here before a stranger tried to dive in and get the two of them out. He wouldn't be able to contain Elizabeth and stop someone from drowning.

"Elizabeth, please." He said softly, pulling her closer to him in the water. "It's Penny's birthday and you need to come back to me, because if we don't, we're going to be late to the restaurant and you love the Cheesecake Factory's Factory Nachos and the sourdough bread. And you wanted to bake that cake later, remember?"

Elizabeth blinked and her eyes were brown now. He watched as she took in her surroundings and could feel the starting pressure as she started to panic and release her powers.

"No." He said quickly, but firmly. "This water, is a part of you. You have control over it Elizabeth, see?"

She took a deep breath and looked around again, "Elijah. . . we're underwater. We're breathing."

He smiled, "Yes, you know why? You're doing that. You're making sure that we are breathing."

"I can understand them." Elizabeth whispered, reaching out, petting along the back of a hammerhead shark that swam by, wagging its tail side to side like a water puppy.

"How do you feel?" He asked softly.

"I feel. . . alive." Elizabeth said, a wide smile coming across her face, and suddenly she backflipped away gracefully in the water, throwing her arms out. He watched the habitat change. The glass that was dim once, be cleaned of every speck of grime so that it was crystal clear. The coral was changed and renewed.

It changed, becoming less like a habitat set up by humans, and more like what a natural one looked under the surface. He watched it change, become brighter, become better.

He breathed in then. She could never do this before. She had grown even more powerful than expected.

He had known, of course, that she would have 'new' powers. They weren't literally new, because she had always been able to do them. But they would seem new, because she would never have used the powers when she had all of her memories. She usually only used her powers for good, but never for change or evil.

But she had just changed an entire environment for the animals in the tank. A better environment, really, a more natural one even though the Aquarium people had done their best. She would have never messed with it when she had her memories.

But the quickness, efficiency, and strength that she had done it. . . she didn't look tired at all. As though she hadn't used any power at all.

He became aware that they were still in the water as he thought this over. She looked ecstatic, touching the coral now and swimming around.

"Come on." He said, holding his hand out. He ignored that people were waiting for them, he ignored that there would be people angry with them. This was for her. This was all about her. "Lets dance."

👂🈵 ρσ𝕍 ᶜн𝕒Ｎ𝓰ᵉ 🈹 🈲

Penny had held onto Steve's arm tightly as she had watched Elijah try and bring her back. Everyone around them had seemingly frozen, even ceasing the talking. But when she changed the view, making the glass clean as the water washed away the grime, the coral becoming new, change, turning brighter colours, and objects that Penny couldn't even name growing from the sand or holes or whatever else that was in the ocean changed in there- people gasped.

She could see the security guards, just staring, and then starting to talk into their walkie talkies, trying to get more security and possibly some scuba divers.

"I'll take care of them." Tony said suddenly, striding towards the guards. Steve squeezed Penny's hand and quickly went with him.

Penny watched Elijah hold his hand out and then pulled Elizabeth to him. The two of them started to dance in the water and Penny could find herself smiling.

Looking around, there were older women who awed over the sweetness of the soulmates. People started to move again, now that the girl wasn't in danger, moving onto other exhibits. Penny overhead a little girl ask her mom if Elizabeth was a mermaid.

"Well," Violetta sighed in fake disappointment, "I was really looking forward to the Aquarium exploding and swimming with the sharks."

Nat flicked her ear and said, "You can still go and swim with them. Just jump right in and join them."

Vi rubbed her ear, "Nah, sharks probably think Italian tastes good. Everyone does."

"I agree." Penny said slyly and took great joy in the Italian girl blushing darkly. Penny glanced back at the fish tank and saw that Elijah and Elizabeth were gone. She sort've wished she could have joined them. She'd always wondered what it was like to breathe underwater and enjoy that sort of atmosphere.

Elijah and Elizabeth eventually regrouped with everyone. They finished off the Aquarium- all of them ending up leaving with souvenirs because Tony just felt like showering everyone with whatever they looked at. And as Elizabeth damn near hugged every stuffed animal in the gift shop. . .

They went out to eat after that, at the Cheese Cake Factory, which was one of the Penny's favorite restaurants. She ordered the chicken parmesan with spaghetti. Sitting between Bruce and Trang, while also sitting across from Stephen and her mother (the two of them sharing surprising chemistry), she had never enjoyed a day more.

Well, a non sexual day at least.

They all got dessert after that, sharing with each other. Penny got a strawberry drizzle Cheesecake, which seemed to almost just melt in her mouth.

When they got home, Tony asked if she wanted to come to bed with him, Stephen, and Loki.

"I would love that." Penny answered, heart pounding in her chest. "But to be completely honest, I think I just need an hour to rewind. Put on some music and stuff. I'll join you guys soon, though, I promise."

"Okay." Tony nodded, kissing her on the lips. "You okay?"

"Yeah, just stuffed from the cake and I just need to relax." Penny laughed.

"Alright." Stephen chuckled, kissing her cheek.

Loki winked at her and then when they were out of sight, Penny dipped down the hallway. "F.R.I.D.A.Y.?" she hissed quietly. "Where is Elizabeth?"

"She is in the kitchen." F.R.I.D.A.Y. answered.

Penny hurried towards the kitchen and found Elizabeth staring at the box of red velvet cake mix. "Hey!"

Elizabeth jumped, dropping the box, mix scattering on the table. "Penelope!"

"Sorry." Penny said sheepishly. "I had. . . a question."

"Okay?" Elizabeth said, sweeping the cake mix up with her hands, putting it into a bowl.

"What you did in the Aquarium. . . breathing under water. . . do you think you could do that again?" Penny asked.

Elizabeth looked at her straight on again, a look of excitement on her face now. "Yes!"

"Will you. . . can the two of us go?" Penny asked.

And Elizabeth smirked.

🅰️🪬 𝕡𝓸Ѷ ςн𝒶Ｎ𝑔ⓔ 🍕😠

"This is amazing." Penny said and was amazed when she realized she had just spoken clearly underwater. She could feel the water around her lips, but it was as though there was a barrier between the water and her mouth as she spoke.

Elizabeth was relaxing at the bottom of the ocean water. She seemed at peace, almost at home where she laid in the sand, looking up.

They were pretty far out from shore, deep under the water. Animals that Penny had never expected to see in real life- except the Aquarium- swam past them without care. They had even seen a Great White Shark. It was more terrifying than Penny had expected, but it swam away from them as Elizabeth whispered something.

Some animals approached them. Sea turtles swam around her head, seahorses approached Elizabeth, wrapping their tails around her fingers as she kept her hand raised above her face.

The Princess of the seas. That was Elizabeth.

"What?" Elizabeth asked as she saw Penny watching her.

"You could live down here for the rest of your life." Penny sighed, looking at the beauty of it all.

"I think it would be lonely." Elizabeth said softly. "Water is lonely. So is ice. No one likes ice. It's cold and kills. It can be sharpened into a weapon and can bite. Water is pulling, commanding, demanding. It sucks you under and drowns you. And I am the master of it all."

Penny floated down, landing her feet on the sand. She knelt next to Elizabeth. "But you are none of those things. You're warm and kind. Sweet."

"I'm lonely." Elizabeth said simply, looking at her hands. "I have children and Elijah and friends and lovers. But. . . not really. They are people from another life. They are people I should know and can't. It is like water and people. People can't stay under the surface for a long time, but they always wish to stay longer. See more. You are all the water. I am the person. I have to keep coming up for air."

"Why haven't-"

"-I said anything?" Elizabeth smiled, twirling her finger in the sand. "What can I say? It will only make them sad. Make them feel guilty. They'll just try harder at something that they have no control over. It's just me. That's all."

"C'mon." Penny said, holding out her hand. "Let's go home."

Elizabeth took her hand. She catapulted them to the tower and looked up at the tower. Penny glanced over at her. "You know, if you wanted to be with them, just sleep with them, you can. None of them will push you away."

Elizabeth smiled a little. "I know. Thanks Penny. Happy Birthday."

Penny watched the water superhero disappear into the shadows and then Penny took the elevator to her genius soulmates' room.
