The Blue Lions are without question the least closest House in FE3H (long thread)
The Blue Lions are without question the least closest House in FE3H. The writing of AM does questionable choices to the BL as it focuses solely on Dimitri that it neglects how the Blue Lions feel about him, the world they live in, and their relationships with each other.
🦁🔵If we look at the Blue Lions with Blue Lions Supports to A:
Dimitri: 5/7
Felix: 5/7
Dedue: 5/7
Sylvain: 3/7
Ashe: 4/7
Ingrid: 5/7
Mercedes: 6/7
Annette: 5/7
🦅🔴If we look at the Black Eagles with Black Eagles Supports to A:
Edelgard: 6/7
Dorothea: 6/7
Petra: 5/7
Bernadetta: 5/7
Hubert: 5/7
Ferdinand: 5/7
Caspar: 5/7
Linhardt: 5/7
🦌🟡If we look at the Golden Deer with Golden Deer Supports to A:
Claude: 5/7
Lorenz: 5/7
Ignatz: 5/7
Raphael: 5/7
Lysithea: 4/7
Marianne: 5/7
Hilda: 5/7
Leonie: 4/7
It's an interesting mix of Supports! The Blue Lions is the only House with someone having 3 A Supports with someone from the same House (Sylvain). Black Eagles is the only House to have no less than 5 A Supports with someone from the same House.
The Faerghus Four feels like a group barely held together, on the verge of collapsing. They are only together because of the 'good ol' days', but friendship circles end. People change, and wish to mingle with others.
Sylvain & Felix would never stick with Dimitri during his time of madness: they have shown to criticise Faerghus society (see it as a ticking time bomb) & people being yes men (and are open about it), so why are they yes-manning for Dimitri?
Felix criticises Dimitri time and again, and has criticised senseless massacres and blind obedience (his C Support with Dedue), so why is he following Dimitri without challenging him? Felix would have been kicked out by Dimitri if he didn't choose to leave.
Whilst Ingrid does say that Felix wishes to get strong to protect his friends (their A Support) that doesn't mean he will follow Dimitri. If anything he would be even more vocal about his disapproval. Dimitri doesn't care about his men (at that time), so why should he?
Sylvain is quite critical of Faerghus and Dimitri's rule (even in CF as a Black Eagle); he would never blindly follow anyone. He would have left so to ensure Faerghus (or at least Gautier) are kept together during a time when the future king abandoned them.
Dimitri does describe Sylvain as loyal to his friends, but their Support only gets up to B. Sylvain mostly refers to him as 'Your Highness'. Their friendship is strained, or has even ended.
Ingrid doesn't seem to know Sylvain beyond the facade. Contrast that with Dedue, who even after the C Support with Sylvain starts to see him for who he truly is/beyond his facade.
Outside Dimitri the only Faerghus Four member that Dedue would get along with is Sylvain. Sylvain sees him as a person and believes what happened to Duscur was unacceptable. Dedue is simply around Felix & Ingrid because Dimitri is friends with them.
Sylvain doesn't feel comfortable with people getting too close to him (hence only having 3 A Supports), thus showcasing he isn't close to his House--the Blue Lions.
The Blue Lions being the least closest House could have been compelling, if the writers dwelled into it. But because everything revolves around Dimitri the Blue Lions feel like they're just there to play as yes-men to uplift Dimitri.
The Black Eagles & Golden Deer feel tight-knit because of their relationship to their Lords (Edelgard & Claude), how they view the world around them, and their relationships with each other. They're not afraid to tease or challenge their Lords, and they all grow together.
The Black Eagles & Golden Deer feel integral to Edelgard & Claude; without their friends they would not be here or have grown. Whereas with the Blue Lions they don't challenge Dimitri or help him grow: he becomes better because Rodrigue saved him and Byleth gave a pep-talk.
You could take out the Blue Lions during Dimitri's moment of madness and nothing would have changed. (If Byleth & Rodrgiue are out then there is a change).
The Blue Lions being the least closest House could have been compelling if the writers emphasised that/shown more interactions between the Lions and show some challenge Dimitri (not just being yes-men).

Claude x Reader - Gifts
🦌 He would think it's innocent at first
🦌 nothing really to it, just a lil gift
🦌 but as you gift him more, he starts getting suspicious
🦌 like what are you doing??
🦌 after the 15th present this month, he just asks you "hey, whats with the gifts?"
🦌 you reply with "I thought you liked the items... Do you not like it?"
🦌 "no, I love it, just wondering why," he gets all panicked
🦌 "oh good. I just wanted to give you something. I never really see you eat so I was just giving you some healthy things."
🦌 "that's very sweet, thank you."
🦌 and that's about that
🦌 he will tease you after that tho
🦌"oh, worried I'll get hungry? Mkay, if that's all it is..." "A golden flower for a golden deer? How sweet of you" kinda things
🦌 he'll always take it to heart tho
🦌 he appreciates it, and secretly hopes you do it more

Three parts of a wip I'll probably never finish for dmlx week 💔
Day 7, Another Time and Place, it's time for Golden Deer Felix 💛🦌
(1)
"Ah," Byleth starts when he sees him approaching, "finally decided to join our house?"
Byleth's voice remains flat as ever, but Felix is pretty sure he is joking. He certainly hopes for him that he was.
"I've already told you," Felix still replies, just in case, "I have no intention of leaving the Golden Deer." The professor has the gall to look disappointed at that. Felix tsks. "Don't make that face. You knew my answer before you even asked."
Prince Dimitri, who had been talking to Byleth until Felix interrupted them, chuckles lightly.
"Can you blame the Professor? Your skills and knowledge would be a formidable addition to our class. In all honesty, if I thought I had a chance of convincing you, I would be asking you the same."
The earnestness with which he says it makes Felix's heart treacherously skip a beat.
(2)
Felix doesn't usually join in the celebrations after the missions. It never feels right when he's just here as an aid and not part of the class. Today more than ever, he feels a pang of loneliness. The Golden Deer would also be all over each other, and Claude and Hilda would be forcing him to join regardless of how he felt about it.
"You should be there, as well," Dimitri eventually replies.
"I don't belong there," Felix says, deciding to be honest for once. He expects the prince to tell him he does, to maybe reiterate that he'd love for Felix to join their class; it just sounds like the sort of thing he could say.
Instead, the prince surprises him.
"I feel the same." A bittersweet smile. It turns a little more genuine when he asks, "Maybe we could comfort each other? As people who don't belong."
Felix feels his cheeks burning. What kind of nonsense is Dimitri spouting?
(3)
Sylvain comes to find him when he's training with Claude and Hilda. Though 'training' is a generous way to put it, when Claude is trying his best to not have to fight, and Hilda watches from the sidelines.
"Your brother's nuts," Sylvain says in lieu of greeting. He's sporting a wide grin, but Felix can see it's not entirely genuine. It often isn't, to be honest.
Without missing a beat, he, Claude and Hilda answer in one voice, "Yeah."
It seems to take Sylvain by surprise, making him blink at them for a moment. He lets out a laugh.
"Huh. So that's common knowledge, then?"
"What did he do now?" Felix asks. Glenn's foolishness is rather well-known across the Alliance.
Sylvain takes a purposefully laid-back stance. Felix narrows his eyes, expecting the worst.
"He's taking Miklan under his wing."

Watching reaction vids to the FE3H trailers, and they're kind of right about Hilda. They're wrong to be disinterested in Hilda, but they're right about the Golden Deer's intro trailer making her seem less interesting.
Her profile just says she likes fashion and being lazy, or something. That is not putting Hilda's best foot forward, when that trailer is supposed to be pitching you a House over the others. In comparison, the reactor said the other House's characters sounded more interesting. And yesh, there's more inherent intrigue in princesses and kings, knights and vassal states.
But the cool thing about Hilda is how cunning and manipulative she is. And she makes it look easy too. Sure, she's very nice and actually pretty selfless and generous underneath. But it's just so cool and fun to watch her bend everything into the way she wants, without any malice about it.
And the other Golden Deer in the trailer specifically for their House, weren't put in their best lights either. What makes Leonie cool is her easy going personality, resiliency, "tomboyishness", and commoner perspective. What makes Raphael endearing is what a sunshine sweetheart he is; also down to earth, so much that he makes some of the nobility's concerns seem silly, which leads to some funny moments.
Actually a lot of the Golden Deer have the novelty of commoner perspectives. And a lot of their charm is in their personalities and how they choose to interact in their Supports, much more than these profiles in that trailer, simply listing one superficial like and dislike.
Then again, maybe the point of the Golden Deer house is to reward or encourage curiosity below the surface. Uncovering hidden truths was a big story theme with Claude, after all.
But did their trailer have to make it harder to be curious about them???? I want more people to love my precious Deer! 😭🦌💛

7 and Hilda for the ask game!
7. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you like?
Admittedly, I have been much less exposed to Golden Deer and Blue Lions characters, but Hilda’s general characterisation in the fandom is surprisingly nuanced! She’s funny and somewhat lazy and selfish and typically girlish, but also a powerhouse and devilishly smart. A great right-hand woman for Claude!
She also gets a ton of cool fanart, which is only natural with such an appealing design.

So the summons had 1 red orb, 1 blue orb, and one colorless orb (+2 green orbs but no one cares about those rn) and what does he get me?? First of all, a 5* character right off the bat??? Morgan comes on the first pull wtf. 2nd character was a 4*(Miriel), and of COURSE, who comes at the third pull?? Another 5* character, AND the one I wanted most on the banner, it’s freakin’ CLAUDE??? Each and every opinion of the Golden Deer new looks for 3 Hopes because I can’t shut up about them for a few minutes because all of them look so beautiful 🥹
Tumblr media
Claude 🦌
Ma man is looking beautiful as always. Love the slicked back hair and blacks included in his outfit color palette.
Tumblr media
Hilda 💖
Our favourite pink haired sweetheart is looking strong and beautiful as always. Love the hairstyle too as well since it’s unique.
Tumblr media
Raphael 💪🏻
The Golden Deer powerhouse has returned as well! Love the fact he now has a bandana on and the fact his outfit included a side boob as well.
P.S. This is an unpopular opinion but here’s hoping 3 Hopes would at least give him some flaw to at least feel credible.
Tumblr media
Lysithea 🍰
Our favourite sweet loving mage has returned! And now she has a new hairstyle as well. Love how she ties the sides of her hair with a simple bit practical hair tie. And the outfit is just 👌🏻.
Tumblr media
Lorenz 🌹
The purple haired knight was once seen in an earlier trailer but now we have a full reveal on what he looks like. Love the hairstyle and I like how his outfit is just a lite version of his post timeskip outfit. Also love the fact that when his Special is activated, he smells a rose and then barrages his oppenents after that.
Tumblr media
Ignatz 🎨
The greenhead artist is looking cute as always! Love the hair clip he has since it just adds charm and kinda like how the outfit slightly resembles his post timeskip outfit (the sleeves I mean). Also his attacks seems to involve paint splatters too. Wonder if he attached mini paint bombs onto his arrows or it’s just for cool special effects. Either way, I love the detail to it.
Tumblr media
Marianne 💙
Our favourite shy bluenette is revealed. I absolutely love the hairstyle and she even has a floral hairband as well. It looks so cute on her!! The outfit is also lovely since it slightly resembles her post timeskip outfit. And it seems like her Special includes Dorte. I wonder if she adopted him in Three Hopes because if it is then awwww…. 🥰
Tumblr media
Leonie 🧡
Last but not least is our favourite competitive and feisty redhead Leonie! I’m digging the hairstyle she has since it makes her look cool and the outfit is just lovely!
That's all I have to say. This is hopefully (no pun intended) my last post on the Golden Deer in 3 Hopes.

How about 2, 5, 19, and 23?
( ´ ▽ ` ).。o♡ Thank you for the ask!!
2. strongest unit you had?
Byleth. I feel like this is unavoidable, but maybe I'm wrong. Special mention to Claude and Ashe.
5. favorite blue lion?
Dedue. If I'd have gotten to postskip the first time I played AM somehow and failed to [redacted], I would've restarted the game.
19. favorite post timeskip design?
Lorenz. I was floored the first time his postskip design got to take me by surprise.
23. favorite class?
The Golden Deer. Can't help being predictable. 💛🦌🌈 They look like a rainbow and Claude has power-ranger-esque speeches about friendship and I love them.

So i just got Three Houses, and I love it so far, but is it weird that I chose Golden Deer just because I thought Claude would make a great werewolf in a fantasy story?
Honestly I was the person that chose Golden Deer just for Claude as well cause...well...he's CLAUDE. I'm not familiar with occult type characters but I think that's a really cool idea! Claude's one of those characters that just gives you so many fun ideas and inspiration for stories of your own. He feels like the most unpredictable of the house leaders which is what I think makes him the most fun. Fear the Deer 🦌

🦌💔🩹...
The other day, I was screengrabbing FE3H Claude quotes, and when he talked about his dream to the Golden Deer, he cited that even though Duscur and Brigid had attacked/invaded Faerghus and Adrestia, there were still Duscurians (Dedue) and the Brigid princess (Petra) accepted in the Garreg Mach monastery.
Tumblr media
I never noticed this line before. But for all of the praise we give Claude, especially FE3H version Claude, for digging to find the truth (of Fodlan) and questioning the given narrative (which seems to be what the developers wanted us to do with FE3H, especially Crimson Flower), Claude got this part all wrong. Duscur didn't attack Faerghus. That was the propaganda the western Faerghus nobles spread to justify their conquering of Duscur. Did Claude really not dig deeper into the truth of the Tragedy of Duscur? I mean, considering meta reasons, Dimitri was already covering that issue, so maybe Intelligent Systems thought it was ok for Claude to glaze over that truth? But with how much Verdant Wind Claude and his route represents revealing the truth of Fodlan--- even ending the route by defeating Nemesis, who was the "hero" propped up by historical lies and who was created by the unequivocally, cartoonishly clear, true villains, the Agarthans, and revealing that "hero" as a villain---I don't appreciate this oversight. Same with Brigid. Did Brigid invade the Empire??? I could have sworn that Petra was at Garreg Mach as a political prisoner, to assimilate into Fodlan culture, because Brigid had become a vassal state of Adrestia, after Adrestia conquered them in a conflict. Wasn't that what happened? (I try not to spend too much time experiencing Crimson Flower myself, since I don't want hours of vain attempts to get me to sympathize with El, so in regards to my gaps in the story, I usually just trust the reports of others who have played through it---which is how for so long I believed El's lies about the Church/Rhea actively enforcing the Crest system---I wanted to give El the benefit of the doubt out of fairness! But more recently I've been shown that believing the perspectives of El fans is just the blind/me trusting the duped, who don't question Crimson Flower's given narrative.) Isn't that why all the Khalidstans jump down Edelstans' throats, when they ignore Petra was fighting for Brigid to regain its independence from Adrestia? Anyway, it really disappointed me to hear Claude state surface level narratives like facts, when other routes had proven those claims as lies. Verdant Wind/Claude were supposed to be about questioning given narratives and not accepting the surface value of things (narratives, information, people, etc.), so hearing that out of Claude was disappointing.
---even if his route could afford to gloss over those subplots because Verdant Wind had a lot of other things to do. Again, maybe Intelligent Systems thought that having Claude also dig into the truths of the Tragedy of Duscur, AND the Adrestia/Brigid conflict, AND what foundations the Church of Seiros were actually built on/stand for, maybe have been "too much" or would have "cluttered up the story". But if Verdant Wind and Claude are supposed to represent digging for truths, questioning given narratives,…if the focus character Claude is constantly characterized as curious, frequently investigating/researching in the library, expresses suspicions about Seteth censoring the books, talks about conflicting sides (perspectives on Rhea, El's motives) with equal weight but always settling on hearing them out, is repeatedly characterized as open-minded, and thus not willing to simply settle on purely negative appraisals of even El and Rhea… Then how can he simply accept that "Duscur attacked Faerghus" and "Brigid tried to invade the Empire"?
I WOULD LIKE to think that maybe Claude intentionally stated such surface level narratives, casting Duscur/Brigid as aggressors towards Fodlan, to better prove his point about how even people who were in conflict can actually get along if they just get to know each other as people (like as classmates at Garreg Mach). But sounds like a stretching headcanon. I would have felt better if Claude had actually confessed such a simplistic narrative as part of his strategy, to Byleth in private, but he never did. And also! If he did, it's kind of counter to Verdant Wind's theme of revealing truths! Building a following/nation on lies was El's thing. Crimson Flower ends with her building the new government on lies and Huebert carefully managing/constructing/manipulating the information that spreads throughout Fodlan. Even the best faith interpretation of this dialogue from Claude seems to still hit wrong. I wish Intelligent Systems had fixed it.
On the good side, I don't believe in liking something to the point of finding no fault with it. If I can't criticize at least one thing, about something/someone I love, then I have to be suspicious that I might be "blindly following". And that's the same as not really loving something or not really seeing it for what it is. When I was young, I used to pick a mangaka or author I really liked, then just collect all their series. I'd convince myself that I loved all their works, while completely ignoring that there were things I didn't like. But it was easier to just pick a "favorite" and pretend they could "do no wrong". I've grown out of that by now. An AX Staffer friend once asked why I wasn't enduring the line for a CLAMP panel; that's why. (Because despite how much I love CLAMP their repeated use of the romance trope "girl falls in love with guy who annoys her the most" was just something I couldn't deal with anymore, after the Legend of Chun Hyang.) I tried getting myself to read Anne McCaffrey's "Dragonriders of Pern" book series and some of her scifi novels, because I loved her "Harperhall of Pern" book series, but after trudging through a couple books, I had to admit that it's possible to like several of an author's books without LOVING ALL their work. I'm tried of trying to convince myself that I love EVERYTHING about something that I like, to the point of blind devotion. If I'm blind to a thing's faults, am I really seeing it? I want to be able to pick out the faults, say that I accept it or that it is a problem marring an otherwise beloved thing, and completely SEE something for what it is, when I say that I like or love it. I want to make an informed, more proactively consensual choice about what I love these days. That makes me feel more solid in my fandom love of a thing.
So if Claude has this flaw, maybe I'll blame the writers' oversight or meta constraints...or maybe I'll just accept this as a flaw among his more numerous good character qualities...and maybe I'll also headcanon scenarios for him to rectify these flaws within fanfics (or plans for daydreamed fanfics). But at least now I feel more aware of the full situation/character and that liking Claude is my informed choice, that I can feel more solid in now. Finding a flaw in a beloved character is proof that I'm thinking about them critically, versus scrambling for any rationalizations to justify that they "did nothing wrong" in their entire lives. If I find at least one thing I disagree with in a character I love, then I feel more like I'm not blindly following. Then I can feel more confident that I actually like a character, rather than simply, blindly, picking something to love just because I "love loving" something. (To paraphrase the old adage "Love loves to love Love".)
