A WEATHER EYE
I was gong to write something spicy but I regurgitated fluff-ish instead. Anyways, a little drabble I did for Rosaria's Bday! Tagging @gggno because you're always my inspiration for anything Kaesaria/Rosakae β™‘.
" What the fuck Diluc! " Kaeya hissed through gritted teeth. Bent over in pain, he held a hand desperately on his side.
" You were staring. " The red-haired pointed out, readjusting the hilt of sword back to his belt.
The younger male's jaw dropped, despite the lack of words the disbelief in way he looked was obnoxiously loud and clear. Staring. Staring?! " Aren't we supposed to do just that?! "
" You two! " A reprimanding call interrupted, "You're not supposed to play around on watch! Just because you're noble doesn't mean you can slack off! By the Archons, trainees these days. "
He heard Diluc huff at the comment, and Kaeya but rolled his eyes as he stood back up straight. His rib still stung from deliberate attack, and he continued imagining kicking his brother's shins as payback.
In usual circumstances, Kaeya would demand answers. Why did he deserve being punched a hole on the side for simply looking? However, Kaeya begrudgingly knew the exact reason why Diluc made the literal jab towards him, and he didn't exactly need anyone to misunderstand, miscalculate, nor elaborately expand upon his.. mild curiosity.
Ahead, he was almost relieved to see Crepus and Varka still deep within their conversation. He had hoped their slight ruckus had not caught their attention. They were meant to be in their best behavior today, and the last thing he wanted was to be lectured by his own custodian. Thankfully, the Grand Master's explosive and unrestrained laughter was enough to prove his immediate concerns false.
However, Kaeya found they had caught the notice of someone else.
Golden eyes daggered through the rusty red locks. The paralyzing glare coming from the smaller figure standing beside the Grand Master. It was certainly not a hospitable look, but being friendly was the last thing Kaeya expected from her.
His conjectures aside, this wasn't entirely the first time he was able to observe her, -although very brief. As a trainee knight, he couldn't possibly be too privy to more private and sensitive information from the order, but nonetheless, Kaeya was able to have a glimpse of her as her Favonius envoy of knights brought her to headquarters before heading to the cathedral. At that time, she wasn't exactly very well kept, and the transactions were done somewhat secretive and hasty it was rather difficult to have a good look at Mondstadt's newest arrival. All the while he still noticed how she kept a hostile demeanor, - something that he guessed was either because of mistrust, or fear.
It was rather daunting seeing her out of bandit garbs and in apprentice religious clothes. The way she ceaselessly glowered towards his general direction doesn't quite radiate of kindness and grace as the other sisters do. Besides her threatening aura, something else Kaeya noticed was her hair. At first, he thought the muted red color was dulled as a result of living in the outskirts but her brighter red patch of hair was true and not unlike his own odd strands of lighter blue locks. It was a color one does not see very often. In fact, she might just be the only one he knew.
She was also very fair. More fair than the Ragnvindrs. Comparable to a sheet of paper. It would have looked almost frail and delicate at first glance, but something tells him she's far from being that sort of fragile.
" Her name's Rosaria. " Diluc suddenly spoke. " You'd have known if you paid attention to the earlier directives. "
He'd only grunt at the notion. Kaeya did not need to look at his brother see the smirk he wore so triumphantly. This time, even he couldn't deny his own actions.
He continued to watch as the fierce young lady finally pulled from their little staring contest with a little sigh of contempt. Her expression leveling back to boredom as her focus laid somewhere else.
" Rosaria, like the prickly flower? " Kaeya urged, finding himself lightly chuckling at the his own observations, " well that's rather.. fitting. "
