I used to sort of lean into an "antagonistic anime girl" inspired stylization for Theseus but nowadays I adhere more to his canon appearance ^.^ I still draw Theseus super inconsistently though.

Asterius I've always been awful at drawing 😭 I've improved of course but he's hard for me! These days... Unlike Theseus I play around with him a bit more, mostly by making him have a lifters build. That bull man needs a belly.

AZ hasn't changed too much, mostly I made her face longer / thinner and started drawing her nose bigger too

Then Kalos came along and now he can experience the sensation of being tall!

Part of AZ's #issue is that he's a bit self centered and inconsiderate in a "no one else in the world can understand what I'm going through. No one has suffered as much as I have." way 💔 and the thing is that not completely untrue at this point 😭 some of his experiences are completely unique due to his immortality... You'd think that 3000 years would give someone a lot of time to reflect on their actions and change for the better... but it also gives someone a lot of time to justify their actions to themselves wallow within those turbulent emotions. By the time of XY AZ's anger has mostly faded and now he's just Sad (kind of like a candle finally burning out) but he's spent so long being angry that he hasn't had time to process much else. The end of XY is a sort of new beginning. He's finally let go of that anger completely! But where to go next, when he was running on it for fuel for so long? Luckily he doesn't need to wait another 3,000 years to find that out... <3 (love is the answer!)

Because he's notably the first king of Kalos, I like to think AZ and his younger brother both fought in some sort of civil war... And after it ended AZ worked to unify the country as king. It was his strategic intelligence and inventiveness that made him a leader amongst the people, rather than the military strength

Also I like to think he's (in universe) Breton + Algerian Amazigh ^.^

I keep thinking about how they made a character whose a 9'10 immortal guy who is Directly responsible for the presence of "magic" in the world (mega evolution but also other types of power) and who has lived thru much of the modern world's history. A guy who is a foil to Lysandre in a really interesting way (selflessness turning into selfishness and cynicism). Not to mention the fact he's Lysandre's great something uncle with Lysandre being a direct descendent of the guy who fought against AZ's kingdom to begin with. But then he only shows up like 4 times in the actual game 😭 I've been making my own lore for him about it
