Zhongli was the next in line to the throne of the Liyue empire, a progeny of the Lapis line known for their ties to dragons. But when he was but a young teen his parents were murdered and Liyue fell to chaos as everyone turned on each other and pointed fingers for the death of the royals.

Disputes erupted across the nation that an inexperience ruler had no idea how to dispel as he was recovering from the murder of his family leaving him the last dragon of Liyue.

Due to his lack of knowledge and allies Zhongli found himself kidnapped by a cruel goddess.

Corrupted by her power with runes burned into his skin deep enough they are even ingrained on his bones to obey her and only her. It took years of torture and perfecting her craft to create the ultimate weapon to destroy Liyue.

She reveals in the irony of Liyue falling to it's once beloved emperor.

Zhongli is in her clutches for 15 years until she brings him out for his first rampage. Liyue has pronounced him dead by this point but there are some believers he will return.

Extremely feral and non responsive, he's stuck between his human and dragon form.

Heavy chains around his wrists, ankles and neck as more runes, magic to keep him obedient.

Zhongli actually trapped in his own mind, screaming from the inside.

The goddess does find another to use in her schemes, a young lost baby bird she intends to create into another perfect weapon. Despite Zhongli's feral nature his draconic instincts to nurture young is strong he doesn't hard the bird.
