i miss when the four of us ate cake and drank coffee at the cafe after lessons, and watched the street performances together, but mostly i miss when ariadne smiled and laughed more.

4.0 act 2 spoilers beneath. also cw for interpartner and domestic violence, alcoholism, implied abuse, neglect, attempted filialicide, and murder. now that fontaine hath dropped officially, im currently reworking basically of my fontainian ocs and while ive written a bit abt alaia, i think ill take thr time to tak abt the beaulieu fam- specifically, helene and arséne and how their story has changed a bit now that we have new lore abt fontaine.

helene beaulieu, wife of arséne, mother of the siblings, cryo sword / pneuma aligned, champion duelist, former captain of the Maison Gardiennage. deceased. mondstader/fontainian. matriarch of the family. cold and sharp, with the perfect personality for the duties given to her by the palais memoria- but less so for raising children. killed by arséne shortly after andromache returned from the abyss, when she was fed up with his hostility and treatment going to leave him with the siblings and relocate to mondstadt. was assigned to the serial disappearances case, and was close to getting the case investigated more. cause of death: water from the primordial sea which was given purposely to her by arséne, out of malice and hatred. officially listed as "missing" in fontaine for roughly two years from the start of the game.

arséne beaulieu, husband of helene, and father of the siblings. no vision. an alumnus of the kshahrewar darshan, a socialite, and self styled genius of interior design. noted for his quick to violence temper, suck up demeanor, intense inferiority complex and intense distaste for anyone who he deemed as "lesser". after andromache disappeared for a week, then reappeared, and after ariadne was acknowledged as outshining their father with their skills with the kamera. partnered with vasher to get rid of helene, after he had read her notes, on the agreement that he wouldnt be implicated and would destroy helene's work; after all- it was a win-win, for both of them. after killing helene, her vision remained, and he hid it in his study- forbidding the children from entering there- planning on selling the vision on the black market for oodles of money, and turning his eyes towards his eldest to follow in helene's demise.

becoming increasingly erratic; spending much of the money needed for basic upkeep of the family home / medicine for andromache, drinking himself sick, and overall enforcing a reign of terror over his children- leading to the four of them consistently walking on eggshells. after drunkenly sending andromache into the study to find something from inside his desk, andromache stumbled upon helene's vision, and attacked andromache, jason and selene when they tried to intervene to protect roro. in that time, arséne injuried selene and jason, and was promptly punched through two rooms by roro in their abyssal fighter form, sealed into a cryo block by jason, and bitten by selene. since then, arséne has been outwardly playing the part of distraught father- commissioning bounty hunters and spina di rosa into looking and retrieving his "wayward, runaway children" and bringing them home- promising large amounts of mora that doesn't exist for their safe return.
