The sudden comment startled Tohru, almost making her drop her chopsticks as she was eating her lunch ontop of the school building alongside the half-demon. Where did that come from? Inuyasha was always the type of guy to say brooding things like that, but...she thought they were having a nice lunch together.

Seems like even though she's gotten closer to him, it seems that darker outlook of his was still present. That sort of thing didn't change overnight, after all.

"W-Why do you say that?" She replies, still a bit startled by the tone shift. "S-Sure the world isn't perfect, but it's filled with so many amazing, beautiful things! You just...You just need to find them, like diamonds in the rough. The same goes for your world, too."

There had been a change in Kyo since they had came to his homeland, Tohru having seen sides of her boyfriend she had never seen before. He always had a chip on his shoulder and a kindness and gentle soul like no other, but...those traits seemed to have been amplified here. And that meant she had seen his anger explode just as much as she saw the love he had for be on full display.

He had brought them to a small pond in the center of the palace’s courtyard, the only noise around them being the sounds of nature on that late night. They had not seen each other as much since the ball, the entire incident there still seeming to weigh on their hearts. But his invitation and the kindness he was showing her made it all clear that he still loved and cared for her, and to him at least, she wasn’t the burden she thought she was.

“Kyo...” She softly speaks, hands gently moving to grab his own. Tohru enjoyed being so close to him. “I...don’t understand how you could think that after coming from Regalia to Earth...When we met, I was...I was a clumsy mess. I could barley do anything right, and...you helped me. You say my mom and I helped you, but...you really were there for us. I’m forever grateful to you for that, and...I know mom is too.”

“I’m...” Her head moves to rest then on his shoulder, hands still locked with his. “I’m so glad...I’m so glad we met. Our time together has been the best adventure I could ask for. I...I just hope it’s been that way for you, too.”

Summery:

Izayoi is the daughter of Tohru Honda and Inuyasha Honda that was named after Inuyasha’s deceased mother. However, she is called Iza most if not always over her full name, exceptions being if she is being scolded by her parents or other such instances where someone is angry at her. She is around the same age as Mei Higurashi and is very close with her and Towa Higurashi, the former being her best friend and the latter being seen as an unofficial older sister.

She is very close with both of her parents, but more so Inuyasha. This is because Tohru most of the time is working multiple jobs to provide for her family, and thus most of the time she is looked after by her father. In addition, Iza has been obsessed with her demonic side ever since she first saw what her father could really do and seeing his demonic physical traits like his fangs, claws, ears, and golden eye color. It filled her with a sense of pride to have his eyes, and thus wanted to be just as cool and strong as him someday and show both sides to her.

Despite being born a quarter-demon though, Iza’s demon blood that she inherited from her father very much dormant. She can smell and hear a bit better than a normal human, but not by much. She also is not that much physically stronger or faster, and does not possess any speed healing capabilities or a new moon like night where her physicality changes. Naturally, this fact very much frustrates Iza and thus she tries to do everything she can to bring out her dog demon blood that she knows is inside of her. This can range from acting animalistic (such as growling, walking on all fours, and drying herself via shaking as opposed to using a towel), or trying to perform Inuyasha’s Iron Reaver Soul Stealer technique and transform his Tessaiga. It is the only thing she thought would work to awaken her dormant demon blood, even if all her attempts end in failure.

Due to this and an incident where she bit one of her classmates who was picking on another kid in her class, Iza is not well-received at her school. She is often separated from the other children most of the time, both by teachers and by the kids themselves due to people thinking she is ‘weird’ or ‘wrong’. This is why outside of the Higurashi family and her parents, Iza has no other strong bonds with anyone else due to not being able to communicate why she does what she does due to having to keep her demon heritage a secret. If it wasn’t for Tohru wanting her to go through school, Iza probably would not have bothered with it despite being able to learn pretty well when she focuses.

Iza wants more than anything to be able to be a demon and a human like her father is. She looks in the mirror at herself and sees how mortal she is like her mother (Iza having Tohru’s kind heart, empathy, and courage), but also sees the golden eyes from her father that signal she is part demon. However, those eyes also signal her frustration that she seems to just be a human, causing her to sometimes cry and get upset that she might be stuck like this forever and never get to be a real quarter-demon.

“T-The nurse’s office?!” The girl exclaims, sitting up quickly from the bed she had been placed in. How she got in here was all a blur until Kyo had explained it, memories of her taking a hit for Hanajima flooding back to her. She remembers getting hit really hard, but the fact the hit was so strong that she passed out...Maybe Tohru should wear a helmet next time they played during gym class.

“T-Thank you for helping bring me here Kyo.” She says with the utmost sincerity before she asks the cat spirit another question. “How...How long have I been out? Oh gosh, I hope it hasn’t been for too long...I don’t want anyone going sick with worry over me.” Tohru Honda hated feeling like a burden, especially to those she cared for. If they drove themselves mad because they were concerned for her condition, it was as most certain she’d feel guilty for it.

Kyoko wraps her arms around Tohru in a tired embrace. "Tohruuuuu, what are we doing for supper tonight? Mama's tired from work."

“Welcome home, Mama!” Tohru exclaims, quickly hugging her mother back. She had been waiting all evening for the most precious person to her to return home. In fact, she had everything ready for her mother so she would not have to lift a finger, including having dinner ready to be served, her bed made, and all the laundry and cleaning done. It was no trouble for Tohru at all to do, and was the least she could do for her hard working parent.

“We’re having Soba! I thought it be nice to try and change things up a bit! Oh! And we have riceballs with chives too! I hope you’ll like everything, Mom!”

" how are you so happy all the time? " kyosuke probably doesn't realise how rude or blunt that sounds, but he's genuinely curious as he ASKS TOHRU this question.

“ Oh!” The question causes Tohru off guard, more for the sudden and random asking of it than the actual question itself. Putting something like what he was asking into words wasn’t exactly simple. She was the way she was for a lot of reasons, reasons that were layered and layered from years upon years of experiences. 

Though, she decides to respond to him with what she wants and currently believes is the main reason. Her eyes soften and her lips curve that typical Tohru Honda smile. Her voice is full of sweetness as she then answers the question her orange-haired classmate had randomly asked during that lunch period.

“Well...I suppose you could say I’m so happy all the time because I choose to be. I choose to always look on the bright side of things, seeing the sun through a rainstorm. It was a trait my...mom always said was one of my greatest qualities. I know she wouldn’t want me to not be happy.” What she fails to mention is how keeping up her happy smile wasn’t always easy, how it pushing through the pain and grief of losing her parents was a daily struggle. It was a struggle she faced with that smile, the smile of the truly lonely girl who feared being left behind again and again.

“Um...your highness?” The meekness in Tohru’s voice is all too apparent as she tries to get his attention from behind, despite addressing her boyfriend. However, she had been told she needed to treat him with respect at this event, and not wanting to cause him or anyone any grief, she followed along. To think she was dating a prince of a magical world...

“May I...Can I...Please, have a dance with you? I haven’t been able to see you all night, and I just...b-but if you’re too busy that’s okay too! You are the prince, after all.”

“I-I’m okay, b-but are you sure y-you are!?” Tohru’s frantic nature was on display for all to see as she stabilizes herself with his help, no doubt panicking over the stain on the blonde’s shirt. Gosh, she really made a horrible first impression huh? She really wanted to try and put her first foot forward at being at this new school, and here she was already making a fool of herself. If only she was paying more attention to where she was going!

“I-I am really really sorry for this!” She bows her head in shame, honestly feeling so bad for having ruined someone’s perfectly nice shirt. “P-Please, please let me make it up to you somehow! I-I can help get the stain out, o-or even buy you a new shirt if you want that!”

There's a gentle knock against her hospital door, and he waits for the signal to enter before coming in. It's Yuki! In his arms are flowers and treats and a small teddy bear with a 'get well soon' flag in it's hands. "Miss Honda! I hope you're feeling better! I brought you some things to help aid your recovery. I have some flowers to help brighten the room....some sweets and a friend to keep you company while we're at school.... I hope it's not too much..."

Despite all that happened, all the events and realizations of the other day, Tohru was as bright a shining star as she always was. There were things she wanted to resolve, things she needed to do and say. However, that could wait till she was recovered and out of the hospital. Getting her strength back up, both mentally and physically, was her top priority.

Naturally though, seeing Yuki walk in made her so happy. Tohru appreciated everyone who had visited her and helped her out since this whole thing, especially the boy who just walked in since he was the one who called for help. If he didn’t show up when he did, then things might have been a lot worse. Tohru owed Yuki for a lot, and this was just adding another item to that list.

“I am! Thank you Yuki! And oh my goodness, you really brought a lot...” Yuki always seemed to go all out for her, something she never quite understood but was no less greatfu for. “W-Which is totally fine and I appreciate it even if you didn’t have to, but I really really am thankful for your kindness! I-I hope everyone at school is doing well!”
