day 18: family | hong jisoo.

↳ the one about joshua introducing you to his family

authors note: apologies for the delay but this is for day 18 of @svthub december prompt challenge: family. please let me know what you think. i hope you guys enjoy!

“What’s on your mind?” Joshua asks, one hand on the steering wheel and one your thigh, stealing you from your thoughts. The drive back home from his family party has been quiet and he isn’t sure how you’re feeling about it.

“I’m just thinking about the party,” you smile in response, yet he can’t help but feel nervous.

What if it was too much for her? What if she didn’t like my family? What if she—

“Shua, get out of your head,” you laugh lightly. “Everything is fine and I had a great time.”

“Really?”

“I promise.”

Breathing a sigh of relief, Joshua grabs your hand and kisses the back of it. “How did you find it though?” he queries curiously.

“Hmm,” you contemplate, “honestly, it was overwhelming at first and I was a nervous wreck, especially since you have such a huge family. I was especially nervous about meeting your mom.”

“And?” he prods.

“She’s lovely,” you reply, “and very welcoming. So, was the rest of your family. It was really nice to see how close you all were as a unit and I was amazed at how good you were with the kids. They seemed to love being spoiled by Uncle Shua.”

Joshua laughs, “I can’t help it. They’re really adorable.”

“They are,” you agree. “How are you feeling, by the way? Are you okay? You gave lots of piggy backs and airplane rides.”

“Well, that’s what these muscles are for,” he laughs again, throwing a wink your way as you playfully smack his arm. “Was that all you were thinking about? You seemed pretty deep in thought.”

He can tell the question makes you nervous, as your free hand starts to fiddle with the hem of your dress.

“I was thinking about how great of a father you’ll be,” you say nervously, “and how I can’t wait to have a family with you.”

Joshua’s brain short circuits for a second and luckily he’s stopped at a red light. “Should we get started tonight?” he teases. “How far away from home are we? Should we have kids one after the other?”

“Shua, stop!” you punch his arm, laughing all the while. “We have all the time in the world.”

“That we do,” Joshua affirms.”I can’t wait to spend it all with you.”

The rest of the drive home is spent in silence filled with warmth and love. At least until Joshua breaks by saying, “We can continue practicing making babies though, right?”

He happily accepts another punch to his arm.
