Trembling. When did he ever tremble? Suppose when it was storming like this. When thunder roared and shook the trees. At first, he doesn't register his beloved's presence. Not until he's kneeling in front of the small Sovereign. When he goes to look up and he's hugged immediately to the former cryo Sovereign's chest. Feeling his lips pressed to his forehead.

Hearing a whispered promise that it will be alright. Sweet, really. Even if he's never seen Eros afraid before now- he wants to comfort him. And such a thing means so much to a being who'd lacked comfort for who even knew how long.

"I do not like this noise, Nik...it makes my ears hurt." He whispers, feeling another kiss as he wraps his arms around the other now. Enjoying the closeness.

"Why does the sky do these things-? I do not like it."

     The world is always changing, of that he's become rather certain even in such a short time. Perhaps he should've counted himself lucky that he'd been forced into slumber the entire time that things had waged on and changed radically. Even if it meant he was left without his mother or any of the other dragons that he had once seen as his family. At the very least, now he had his beloved, right? They had each other. As Nikita'ain curled as close as he could, Eros would in turn wrap as tightly as he could around him. Give him a squeeze with as much affection as he could muster, which was quite a lot despite his small size. “ Promise. ”

( 🧊 )     A LOT HAS changed. the order of this world felt like it changed so quickly overnight -- from powerful to powerless nearly overnight . . it was shameful but he could be content 'fore he was at least very much alive. the loneliness of being the lone survivor of his brood was a heavy loss , anger had melted long ago to where only sorrow remained. and fatigue. he knew that would never go away. even with all that . . at least he was no longer alone as he dealt with it. eros was with him , patient and loving as ever when he needed it. the softest of rumbles escapes the emotionally vulnerable dragon , snuggling as close as he could without dropping this form and becoming smaller.    ❝   YOU PROMISE ?    ❞

     For Eros, there is only the man that she loves. For as she adores the earth, there is no way for her to slip beneath and feel it the way he does with ice. But she can hear its call and its song. its cries. And perhaps it is being subjected to the cries that puts it even if only slightly beneath her beloved. For how could she ever love anything or anyone more than she loves him?

     Such a thing feels impossible, actually. For there to ever be something that could replace the love she felt for her darling dragon.

     “ You are so mean to me! I am very much not nosy! ” But she was laughing all the same as her hands move away from his lips. That playful flick of her tail giving way to the fact that she sees it as a game. That it's fun to do.

     But when he nuzzles against her, Eros relaxes once more. Wraps so easily around him as she presses kisses everywhere she can. “ And I'll never stop loving my Niki, not ever. ”

( 🧊 )   SHE HELD A desperation at times. a need for him to be there for her to know that he loves her more than anything else in this world. the only thing that he could possibly put his love ahead of eros herself was . . well . . ice. he really liked ice -- especially when he could slip under waves and feel the chill against his skin ; there was no feeling like it.

MM . . MAYBE BOTH feelings were about equal. he cared and loved his beloved sovereign just as much. he'll have to think about it.

  ❝   SNIFF THEM OUT ? mm . . no , i believe that you have a penchant for getting your nose into everyone elses business until they give in. then they give you the information you sought them out for.   ❞   his teeth gently nip at the fingers that attempt to retain the smile upon his face , not at all rough about it but simply continued the playful air between the both of them.

LEANING IN TO nuzzle the other he hums.   ❝   I DO LOVE you. i don't believe i'll ever stop.   ❞   and as eros had said ; she wouldn't let him either -- and he believes her.

     Oh, he is very lucky that she thinks he's cute. Otherwise, she really wouldn't take any of his teases. Any of his little jokes to seem and get her to react. But she is just as happy to be scooped up into his arms and spun around. That pout turning to laughter so easily.

     “ All you have to do is ask, silly! I'll give Niki as much love as he wants all the time. Every bit of love that Eros has is for him, duh~! ” She rests her forehead against his as a purr rumbles in her throat. How she loves him… how could not forgive him?

( 🧊 )   THE LAUGHTER THAT leaves him is loud as he holds her closer to him , providing small pecks between the frantic big ones she gives him. the teasing he gives seems to have gotten somewhat out of control . . now seemed time to end it.

  ❝   MEAN ? ME ? I am merely teasing my beloved to earn more than perhaps he should . . my apologies for going to far and upsetting you --- will eros ever forgive me i wonder ~   ❞   playful as ever he lifts eros 'fore spinning her around in his arms 'fore landing one more big kiss to her nose.

     Those gentle kisses bring that soft purr to rumble in her throat despite the flush that's spreading over her body. The warmth that tints her cheeks and starts traveling down her spine. Even that nip brings a soft little noise from her, not one that's ever left before now. But that look – she'd melt more for that look, she thinks.

     “ Okay… I'll make it up to my Niki later. Mm – you're gonna make me say it? ” Eros whined softly, as if it were really so embarrassing. But one of her blackened hand trails downward, stopping on her stomach as the red on her face deepens. “ I want – Niki inside me. ”

( 🧊 )    AS THE HAND brushes against his face he hums , pressing gentle kisses 'gainst the digits 'fore nipping his beloved's index finger. watching her melt underneath him felt wonderful , his tail wrapped 'round her thigh giving a slight squeeze as an affectionate look overtook nikita'ain's face.

   ❝   YOU CAN MAKE it up to me later , how's that ? but no . . it's not. use your words , where do you want all of me then ~ ?    ❞   he clearly has an idea but how could he not tease her as her needs grew intensely by the minute.

     It was much the same for Eros, really. Even if it hadn't been that long in their time together, it felt like forever. Like they'd been this way even before she'd been put to sleep. As if there had never been a Nikita'ain without Eros and no Eros without Nikita'ain. How could she ever so much as imagine a time that they weren't together? Such a thing felt unfair, really. As if she'd crumble into pieces should that ever be the case. Such was the reason she said she wanted to get stronger, after all.

     Oh, that look. She would do anything for that one simple look, she thinks. That look that he holds whenever their gazes meet and she can tell just how much their love and adoration for each other is shared. Can tell more than she's ever been sure of anything else in the world, that he is hers and she is his.

     “ Mhm! I just know my Niki so super well that he can't hide anything from me not ever! Mama used to tell me I could sniff out all the secrets. ” a soft giggle escapes from the smaller at that. Poking at his cheeks with her fingers as if to keep his smile there. Eros much prefers when the elder sovereign smiles, after all. “ Niki loves me~. ”

( 🧊 )   NIKITA'AIN HAD TROUBLE fathoming that he could come to love such a little terror so quickly --- but it had felt like he hadn't ever not had eros as his mate. the months had come yet it had felt like centuries . . he loved her so much that he knew that he'd lose himself if he ever lost her or something happened. he'd fight for her with all the strength left in his bones. what power he had remaining that hadn't been stolen from him.

THE KISS BRINGS an exhale out of him , tail swishing idly behind him as he relished the moment between the two of them , fingertips running up and along eros's back 'fore he pulled back to look down at him with a fondness that'd never leave his gaze.

  ❝   I DO SUPPOSE it makes it all rather obvious doesn't it . . who knew i couldn't be as sneaky as i used to be in my youth. i'm so easily picked apart now.   ❞   a toothy grin forms 'pon the sovereign's lips as they rest mere inches away from his beloved's lips ; playful as he butt his head against her's gently.  ❝   I LOVE YOU too , eros.   ❞

     Grateful – Eros is grateful that her beloved knows where the line is every time. Of how sensitive she is and how easily tears could spill from their for show purpose to ones that were real. Even in their little teases and jokes, when she didn't understand sometimes what was a tease. She was ever grateful that he knew where there was a time to stop and where there was a time for more. That he understood her and found a charm in the smaller Sovereign.

     That raspberry to her cheek had her giggling and pushing at his face if only for the moment before their lips met once more. A quiet purr rumbling in her throat all the while.

     “ I know because my Niki keeps giving me kisses, duh. ” As if it were such an easy answer. To her, at least, it was as simple as could be. Especially as her lips chased after his again and again. Slender fingers tangling in his hair as they pulled apart only a moment. Her forehead resting against his as her tail swayed from side to side. “ I love you, Niki. ”

( 🧊 )   NIKITA'AIN KNEW JUST what could get eros fuming in a playful way , thus would push her buttons -- but only to a point. he never wanted to upset her in a way where it mattered genuinely. he didn't want to upset her to where crocodile tears became real due to his actions. forgiving himself would be difficult at that point : leading him to tone it down after a certain point ; seeing eros smile was much more rewarding than her being upset.

SNORTING WHEN SHE whined when he gave her a taste of what she had been asking for --- what a little impatient thing she could be. probably why he found her so endearing in truth. 

  ❝   DO YOU NOW ? do tell how you know so much.   ❞   planting a raspberry kiss against her cheek he ends up laughing over his ridiculous ( and childish ) gesture toward his beloved , nosing her 'fore continuing the kiss that seemed to bring joy to the both of them.

He's really able to see right through her, isn't he? Even if he knows eventually the crocodile tears would become real ones. But she's thankful when his hand is on her chin and they're kissing even for just a moment. Lips pressed together for that single, quick kiss. And then how she whines again right away.

Maybe she's lucky that he finds her so cute.

Or maybe him finding her pouts adorable means he's like to drag them on when she does. Still, he knows what he's doing and how desperate she is when he wraps her up in his arms. Her own wrapping around him as a smile returns to those previously teary-eyed features. As if she'd never been upset in the first place. One could tell that this was what she'd been waiting for. For him to merely give in and give her what she so desired. What she deserved, really!

"You say that like you don't wanna kiss me. And I know, I know that's not true!" A soft giggle escapes her as they kiss again. One of her hands resting on his cheek as she simply melts into the gesture. Into him. If only they could kiss like this every time, she thinks. She'd never want to be anywhere else in the world!

( 🧊 )    THEY CAN AGREE to disagree on him being downright mean to her as he watched what he could pin to be theatrics -- though they'd become genuine whines of desperation if he continued the charade for long enough. even as he teased her he never wished her to believe he truly would withhold affection from her long term. he was cold but he was not that cold.

PLUS HOW COULD he deny such a sweet face ?

SHE'S ADORABLE WHEN she pouts and does her utmost to try and get a kiss out of him. oftentimes after it all it ended with nikita'ain relenting and giving into her desire for attention and love on her like she deserved. he hums , still messing around with her 'fore one hand came to gently hold her chin as he leaned down to plant a kiss against her lips. it was chaste and short as he pulled away a moment later , winking at her.

  ❝   I BELIEVE IT was fair --- we both gain what we wish , no ? you a kiss and me one less growly sweetheart. we both benefitted from before . . so now you get what you want.   ❞   pulling eros into an embrace he smiles down at her , nuzzling the sovereign's face 'fore giving her another kiss , this time more meaningful and long.

"You are-! You're so mean to me!" And how she whines when he continues to feign his act. As if she's a child not getting her way while trying so desperately to get affection from her mate.

It's as if this is the worst thing that's ever happened to her. Even if it is far from that. But wasn't it better to treat this like it was? If she didn't react the way she did, then would she really be Eros anymore? No- she thinks not.

And then he's laughing! Laughing at her and her attempts to get more love and attention! How utterly mean she thinks her darling is! How can he deny her what he knows that she craves so desperately? It's all she ever wants! And here he is holding her in place!

"Gēgē! You're not playing fair- you're so much bigger and stronger and you're making it so I can't move!" She stuck her tongue out when he bonked his head against hers. Trying to nuzzle against him and get a kiss finally. "Fine-! I won't do it again, just stop being such a bully!"

( 🧊 )     HE GASPS AS she says he's mean --- taking faux offence to her statement with how he expressed his playful hurt by pressing the back of his hand against his head.

  ❝   HOW CRUEL OF you to say that to me , eros. if i'm truly mean then that would mean that i mustn't do a thing when you so needily try and steal kisses from me. stealing isn't nice either is it --- ? both of us are mean i think.   ❞   he nods to himself , quite sure of himself and the conclusion he came up with.

HIS ATTEMPTS TO quell his laughter failed miserably from how eros was behaving. he found her adorable as she bounced close to him while also trying to tug him down to her level to get the kisses she wants. he doesn't relent however as he remained steadfast in his stance , brow raising at her as he feigned being unimpressed.

  ❝   I TOOK NOTHING physical from you , дорогая. all i'm asking is that you keep your precious little growls to yourself and maybe i'll think about peppering your face with kisses , yes ?   ❞   his hands come to rest on her shoulders to manage to keep her still --- leaning down to gently bonk his head against the shorter.

It certainly isn't like she growls often at the very least! No, not outside of when she's trying to play with him. And for that reason does she think that she's doing very well. That part is why she pouts as she tugs on his shirt. "It will not! You're such a liar Niki! So unfair, too! A big mean dragon, that's what you are!" Not that she actually believes that. Her beloved is the sweetest as far as she's concerned.

Never once has he been mean, even when he was trying to push her away at first. When those growls had been far more common than they were nowadays. Before they'd fallen in love.

"You did though-! I was not being mean, you started it! You said that you wouldn't give me any little kisses-! And you know that- that I love little kisses!" she argued, bouncing on his toes as she tried to pull him down for another kiss. Though, she did stick her tongue out at the feeling of his little boop to her noise.

"N-no...but- but usually you don't try and take things away from me either. So- so you started it! Yes you did, mhm. I'm still a good girl!"

( 🧊 )    WHEN SHE POUTS like that he cannot help the laughter that threatens to tumble from the elder , which once again came to pass. it was if a frog had somehow found its way within her cheeks with how she looked -- while not so much laughable . . she was still cute nonetheless.   ❝   IF YOU KEEP that expression up you may end up stuck that way.  ❞   wouldn't be much of a loss ; she'd still be cute looking . . ~

ALL THE TIME ? no , it had been a long time since he had even had the need to growl at the smaller of the two. perhaps as a tease or in a playful air but nothing of the sort where a growl could be seen in a negative light.

  ❝   I DO NOT . . at least for a long time now. the growl you gave me sounded rather mean versus any playful ones i lend toward you , no ?   ❞   he's pouting as he looked down at her , poking her nose as to accent his point while a light snort escaped him. her mention of him saying that she was a good girl often caused the cryo sovereign to chuckle slightly.

  ❝   BUT THINK ABOUT what you do to receive such praise . . does my good girl growl at me when i say such things ? no , i think not.   ❞

Truthfully, there were times she just wanted to bite him! Not that he hadn't given her permission time and time again, but all the same. Even she could be aware of when she shouldn't. Even for all the times that she didn't know when not to do others.

Only occasionally could she be well behaved.

Though, his words have her frowning, too. Pouting, even as her cheeks puff back out. How unfair! To deny his sweet little partner something he knows she craves so much! Truly unforgivable.

"Not fair-! Niki growls at Eros all the time!" Not at her, just in her general vicinity really. He hadn't actively growled at the younger Sovereign since before they'd fallen in love. Or if h had? She hadn't paid enough attention to it. "I'm a very good girl-! You always say so!"

( 🧊 )    EROS MADE IT   difficult to not pinch her cheeks sometimes   ,   tail swishing behind him as he grew more and more nearing caving into aggressive affection.   he huffs   ,   pressing his face more into the other sovereign's hair   ;   focus on the scent as a frown sits 'pon his lips.   he's not   angry   with her   ,   mostly at himself with how easy he was to convince as well   . .

BOTH OF THEM   were rather ridiculous.

A MAGIC SECRET.   my   ,   his beloved was full of   surprises   even now   ,   not that he minded all that much.   learning new things about eros brought difference into a life that he had already lived long in   ---   breathing new life into it wasn't something he could ever hold against her.   their height difference lent some hold of teasing within his hands   as a chuckle   escaped him.

MORE   KISSES   ?   hmm   . .   he didn't know.   ❝   HAVE YOU BEEN   good for more kisses   --   you  growled   at me earlier   ,   beloved.   ❞   his finger taps against   the other's nose   as a playful gaze lowered down toward the shorter.

     He tilts his head only slightly as the other speaks, his ears flicking gently. There were many things about the world as it had changed that Eros didn't understand. Many things that his beloved had seen and been through that he would never realize. Never know. But he knew what it was to be lonely, at the very least. For that was how he had been before finding the elder sovereign. “ I'd be very lonely, if you did. And I do not – like being lonely. But that's okay! Because I'm not going to go anywhere and neither is Niki. So we'll always be together, yes. ” And Eros would make sure not to let anything ever happen to his beloved again.

( 🧊 )     LOW PURRS CONTINUED to thrum out of the cryo sovereign , tail shifting only some as it grew more comfortable around eros's. the distraction was good enough that he felt he could get himself feeling safe enough to sleep with eros with him.    ❝    . . I COULDN'T. i don't think i could go back to being alone. its to . . isolating. my siblings would say that i was too cold but they simply didn't understand . . all i was was withdrawn and careful.   ❞   it kept him alive , that's for sure. not so much safe from any harm --- being tricked unfortunately was not something he could be exempt from.

Really she was lucky that he hadn't held out that long. Granted, she'd given in, but all the same. It felt so unfair that he'd even threaten such a thing! Because he knew how much his little partner adored kisses and affections. Knew that she wanted his love constantly. Kisses and hugs and cuddles. To be touching him at all hours. So of course, how could she not growl when he tried denying it?

But she could never actually be mad at him.

Especially not when he was giving her what she wanted. Their lips pressed together as she reached up to tangle fingers in his hair. Tail wrapping eagerly around his as best as it could. How could she ever want to let go over him? He knew this- or she thought he did, at least.

"Mhm, a magic secret! I- don't know how to do it, though." He leaned into the affection as those purrs came back to his throat. Thinking on the other's words a moment. "More though-? More kisses?"

( 🧊 ) OH IT WAS disparaging that he would have had to deny the smaller the kisses she so desired and asked him every day for. in the morn , the noon and the evening he would get such requests and he was always happy to oblige. in the long term the cryo dragon wouldn't be able to hold out for very long . . having grown desiring such affections daily. he could curse his beloved for leading him into such a state but . .

( HE COULD NEVER stay mad at her )

OH ? IS HIS beloved giving him a growl ? how precious is she ~ the former sovereign of cryo cannot help the laugh that escapes him from within the kiss he poses to his darling. as he quietens he purrs , tail beginning to curl around her waist as he made it difficult for her to back out of ( not that she would , with how clingy she was and clutching onto his clothing . . ever predictable ).

❝ A SECRET HM ? ❞ nikita noses the side of eros's head as the kiss parts , pressing his face into his hair contentedly , his next words rather muffled against his head. ❝ IS IT A magic secret ? ❞

     There was no one that Eros would rather be with, truly. To be pressed together and covering him in any affections that he could. Whatever was ailing him, the smaller wanted nothing more than to help distract him from it. For there to be something that could ease his mind, at the very least. Even if he couldn't do anything for the phantom pain's themselves. Gentle kisses pressed atop the other's head as they laid tangled in each other. “ I think you might enjoy it very much if I bit you, Niki. And I know you'd never ever leave me anyway. ” He'd be far too lonely if he did, Eros thinks.

( 🧊 )     HE COULD REST for the moment. rest and not worry about the discomfort too much thanks to his beloved being close by and cuddling him as requested. he couldn't ask for anyone better to take the time out of their day and spend it with him. a low rumbled purr beginning to come through 'pon eros's fingers running through his hair ; the action a good distraction to focus on and less over the phantom pain he couldn't do anything to alleviate.    ❝   LOVE YOU TOO. 'sides i . . don't doubt that you'd bite me if i tried . .    ❞   which he didn't mind much at all the longer he thinks about it.

He really knew just how to get to her. That any attempted denial of affections would have her whining and pouting. Not that she knew just how long the other would fail to hold out, but she certainly believed him entirely. That he'd keep them away until she gave him the information he was looking for. And she hated that!

For shouldn't he want to give his cute little partner kisses anyway?

It's one of the first times there's a rumble of a growl in her throat as she waits for him to finally give in and come down to her level. Fingers clutching his clothing as she pulls him with his movements. Getting on the tips of her toes so she can press their lips together before her own tail goes back to wagging.

"But don't tell anyone else! It's a secret, really!" For what reason she wasn't aware anymore, really. Not like it mattered. Gaiea had just said it'd be 'their little secret' so long ago and she'd more or less gone with it. Another quick kiss stolen before he could move away. "Promise? Y'have to promise, Niki!"

( 🧊 ) HE WAS RATHER . . smug once he realized he had won with the minor threat. he wouldn't be able to hold off for an extended period , he wasn't that cruel and he could barely last long enough to see her pout and whine ( and the inevitable of crawling all over him to try and steal a kiss ) if he followed through with it.

LUCKILY FOR HIM though . . she was taking the bait.

HIS TAIL SWISHED behind him as he merely shrugged in nonchalance as she expressed how unfair ( it was rather fair ) it was for him to threaten such a course of action. he stands firm as she tries to pull him down for a kiss that he had expressed she'd not get until she was forthcoming with the secrets of the frog pocket.

WEIRD LITTLE POND place. sounds . . about right for his beloved. interesting. a whole pond being in her pocket somehow due to whatever her mother had done made sense to the sheer amount of frogs. alright. ❝ ALRIGHT ALRIGHT. COME here. ❞ chuckling , he lowers his upper body to her level , gifting her with a kiss.
