“come on, y/n! just a little bit more!”

kai never really told you what this whole walk was about. maybe something to do with the local park and the fact that he has been excited with the leaves changing colors? maybe. nonetheless, your feet are hurting and you’re definitely not in the mood for walking anymore.

“kai, i can’t go any faster! my feet hurt!” - you say trying to make your voice sound sufferable - “are you sure we are close to the park?”

“just a little bit more, y/n. i promise.” 

you two don’t live any closer to the central part of the town. which huening often used as an excuse for not going to any of the social events. like the time the whole city did a 24 hour dancing event, where the last couple standing would get a trophy and a free dinner in any restaurant they wanted. you’re still upset about it, by the way.

but something has changed this boy’s mind and today he decided to drag you the whole way there to see the autumn festival. he could’ve at least warned you to not wear your favorite pair of cozy boots. they’re the cutest pair you own but the comfortability did not match with it’s beauty.

“close your eyes, y/n.” he says out of sudden while turning back to look at you.

“now not only do you want to kill my feet but also make me walk without seeing anything?” this boy is seriously a mystery to you.

“stop complaining, y/n. i promise it will make sense.” - a pout formed on his lips. - “just do it for me.” his face looks so adorable while pleading that you’re left with no choice but accepting his wish. even though you wanted to drag his begging longer just to see this cute look in his eyes.

“okay, fine! but can you stop hiding things from your best friend? you know, the one that you always said you loved and cared about?” you said while closing your eyes and placing your hands above them.

you both walk for a few more minutes, until kai, who has been walking behind you while guiding you with his hands on your shoulders, stops.

“why did we stop, hyuka?”

without saying a word, the boy puts his hand on yours, taking them slowly out of your vision. “what do you think, y/n?” 

kai had prepared a beautiful picnic under a tree. but not any tree. the oldest and biggest tree of the whole park. it is the hardest spot to get during the festival season, since a lot of the couples book it to confess their love to each other or getting proposed to.

everything seems straight out of a movie. the towel plastered on the grass, filled with your favorite food and drinks, the smell of the fresh baked bread filing your senses. not one single detail goes by without you noticing it.

“kai, i… i don’t even know what to say.” you tell him, trying to process the beauty that is in front of you.

“it’s okay, y/n. as long as you like it, that’s all i need to know.”

“like it?” - you give a small pause and look at him. - “i love it! kai, this is so beyond anything i expected! this is just so… special.” you look back at the picnic trying to not cry, thinking about all the work he must have put through this just for you.

“what did you think i was going to do?”  he laughs at what you just implied.

“i don’t know… maybe trying to get me to like that terrible coffee you love.”

“first of all, that dinner makes the best coffee out of the whole town. second, i don’t love it. i just think that more people should appreciate the work that old lady puts in making her coffee.”

“well, you and the rest of those bitter people who love bitterness for sure appreciate her bitter coffee.”- you pause a bit. - “and yes, you do love that coffee.”

“should we eat, y/n? i feel like food is gonna make you less grumpy.”

“hey! i’m not grumpy! my feet hurts, remember?” you try to make him feel pity.

spending time like this with hyuka is always your favorite part of the day. you wouldn’t mind if he just brought you to town to walk around and talk. as long as it’s with him, nothing matters.

this feeling has been growing inside your heart constantly now. the days where you aren’t with him seem to be passing slower. your heart beat increases just by the mere thought of him. you have been avoiding this voice inside of your head. but now, here with him, it all comes back.

his dark brown hair flowing with the wind, cheeks a light shade of pink because of the gentle cold breeze, his wide smile, the way he says your name after each sentence, even the moles on his face and neck that make you wonder how it must feel under your lips.

you’re scared to admit what these feelings may be. after all, he's your best-friend. he must not feel even remotely close as you feel about him. but, oh god! how you’re wrong.

“y/n, is everything okay? you seem a little distant.” huening looks worried at you.

“yes! i’m fine!” - you smile trying to ease his tension. - “i was just thinking about some things. nothing to be worried about.”

“oh, good! because, ummm… i want to give you something.” he scratches the back of his neck.

he pulls a beautiful little black box out of his jacket. it has a big black bow on top of it and a thin piece of paper that has “to my y/n ♡” written on it. 

“i saw it in luke’s pioneer store and thought of you.” he says while giving you the box.

you open it and a beautiful golden heart necklace is waiting for you inside.

“if you open the heart, there’s a picture of us.” his shy voice speaks.

the picture is from the year you two met. when his parents moved across the street and yours forced a friendship to happen between you and him, because the “oh, poor boy seems so shy, y/n.” 

little did your parents know that you actually met the love of your life. 

“kai…” tears form in your eyes again.

“let me put it on you, y/n.” he says while standing up 

“of course.” and you get up too.

“wow, i must really have left you speechless. it’s the first time you do something i say without arguing back.”

he was right. you don’t know what is happening with you now. in fact, you don’t know what any of this means. the picnic and now this. all under one of the most romantic places in town. your mind is too foggy to think straight about anything.

kai’s breath hits your neck and you can’t help the shiver’s that appear on the surface of your skin. he’s so close. too close. you can feel his warmth, his chest on your back, his hands on your neck. it’s all too much for you to process.

but hueningkai wasn’t in his best senses either. his breath is uneven. his mind screaming at him in need to leave kisses in your exposed skin.

“i’m done.” he says while trying to keep a safe distance between you two.

“how do i look?” you say while facing him.

“you look… beautiful.”

something in his eyes is calling you closer to him. without even realizing what you’re doing, you close the gap between you two. your faces just a few inches from each other.

“i have been waiting for this, y/n.” kai speaks first.

“for seeing how i look from up-close? i’m sure it’s the same as before.” you laugh at him.

“no, y/n.” - he laughs back. - “well.. yes! because you look even more breathtaking than before.” 

your heart skips a bit.

“you know that bringing you here today isn’t just a coincidence. right?” - kai puts a strand of your hair behind your ear and puts his large palm on your cheek. “i thought about this day a million times. and… god, it’s just so hard to talk to you while you look at me like this. i had a whole speech prepared but looking at you made me forget all of it.” you two laugh at his sudden reveal.

“i guess what i’m trying to say” - he continues. -  “it’s that i love you, y/n. since the day i looked at you. since the first time our eyes met, i always knew that i loved you.” 

that strong urge comes back to you, this time as a strong wave that puts your lips on his without a second thought. kai is caught by surprise with your sudden action. but it doesn’t even take him a minute to kiss you back.

the kiss is urgent but romantic. why did it take so long for you two to do it? why do other people have to come before these feelings come into the surface? you can’t answer. but right now, you don’t want his lips to ever leave yours.

he’s gently pulling you even closer by your waist as you grab him on his neck. both of you’re trying to close any gap that could possibly still be open. the urge is so intense that you don’t want to separate even for breathing.

but eventually kai pulls away and rests his forehead on yours. his wide smile plastered on lips and it makes you want to kiss him again.

maybe you and kai waited to fall in love along with the brown leaves that fall down the trees and dance together with the wind.

hello, here’s your star! as autumn started in some countries, i decided to create this lovely event about 'how it feels to fall in love' during this season (which, particularly, is my favorite hihi). follow the rules below to be able to participate:

hey star!! i was wondering if i could request a slot for taehyun in your event, youth in autumn, the scenario kind of goes something like this, where taehyun and oc had been living around the same vicinity during their childhood and although they weren't of best of buddies during all of it, they share some vague memories together like going to the same fairs and having to ride a ride together because it was too busy during that time, and now that they have met again as adults they remember all these little precious memories and want to talk about it but the awkwardness stops them until they both are stuck outside a bookshop in a sudden autumn shower and end up reconnecting.
