— LATE NIGHT LOVING —

𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 ➜ because he’s been living in my head rent free <3 as you can tell, since i wrote this around 3am… 🧍

there has been many nights you laid awake, staring up at the ceiling, mind drawing to a blank. no thoughts consumed or haunted you, it was simply a blank space that stole your unconscious heaven from your fingertips, not granting you the permission to close your eyes and sleep till it was well into the new day. you never understood why, nor really cared to look too far into the issue of your sleeping habits, simply letting out a frustrated huff and continuing to lay there till your mind finally folded into sleep’s temptation.

but that doesn’t mean that no one noticed your sleeping problem. in fact, many noticed the tired rings around your eyes, but none were quite as concerned as your lover.

“you know, you can talk to me about these problems, right?” his voice calmly replayed in your head as you gripped your phone, squinting in it’s illuminated screen. the time read around one in the morning, yet his words continued to bounce around your head, accompanied with the gentle squeeze to your forearm he had given after the small, comforting chat, a comforting half-hug before heading off to classes.

you huffed, rolling your eyes to yourself. c’mon, you reasoned, he probably wouldn’t want to be called in the middle of the night for your dumb butt not being able to fall asleep. then again, you also knew that if he found out again, then you’d be forced to see that expression on his face again; eyebrows furrowed, lips twitched into a small, concerned frown — one that made your heart threateningly squeeze inside your chest, the kind that made you wish you could take it all back just to keep that expression of sincere worry and concern off of his face.

you swiped up into his contact, and hovered over the face time button. you did briefly consider giving up and suffering alone, but again, his concerned, frowning face popped up into your mind, and that was persuasion enough to let your thumb tap the glowing green button.

the phone rang for a few minutes, waiting for the other end to pick up.

suddenly, you were greeted with a dark screen, though his messy bed-head was visible from the bright glow of the phone’s screen — most likely forgot to turn the brightness down, poor soul. he squinted, grunting, before asahi sent a sleepy tired to your equally, if not more sleep-deprived face. “what’s going on, (y/n)?”

asahi held onto the phone, but his head laid back down on his pillow, cheek smoshing up against the pillowcase fabric, his hair hilariously messy and sprawled about. you would’ve squealed at the cute sight before you if you weren’t so tired. you sleepily smiled back, already laying down in your own bed, simply place your phone to sit up against your lamp on the bedside table, turning to face the phone.

“i couldn’t sleep.” you informed, watching him yawn before nodding. “wanna talk about it?” he offered, before quickly adding on, “or just talk, maybe it’ll help you fall asleep?” asahi suggested, trying to help in any way he could think of. knowing that he was willing to do this for you made you want to tear up — how did you deserve such an adorable, thoughtful boyfriend?

the night was spent talking, albeit tiredly, with your lovely asahi. some tired laughs were shared, and no loving gaze was missed between you two. the moments were precious, and eventually, as two am rolled around, you found yourself considerably more tired than most other nights, and eventually hung up, seeing asahi himself was about to fall asleep anyways — no matter how much he tried to deny it.
