SENSES & OTHER SPECIFIC HEADCANONS.

WHAT DOES SHERLOCK SMELL LIKE?

As there are several layers to Sherlock’s attire, there are several scents which could be detected on him. His coat smells of cool air and traces of cigarette smoke. It’s a fresh smell, with a little bit of a bitter bite. His scarf mostly smells like his aftershave and touch like his cologne. He detests the sharp, synthetic and cold scent of dihydromyrcenol, so Sherlock opts for a herbal aftershave which contains the scents of white tea, lavender and peppermint. For the cologne, he chooses some that carry notes of amber, sandalwood and nutmeg, making for a much warmer fragrance, something that is more noticeable on his clothing. His skin usually carries tiny traces of soap and lavender scents.

WHAT DO SHERLOCK'S HANDS FEEL LIKE?

There is some difference between his hands. While they are always warm and a bit dry to the touch his left hand is rougher than his right. And that’s due to the calluses on his left hand’s fingertips, left from years of playing violin. The dryness comes from the constant use of hand sanitizer while he’s occupying himself in St. Barts labs, not wanting to contaminate any of his experiments.

WHAT DOES SHERLOCK USUALLY EAT IN A DAY?

If he’s eating that day at all, Sherlock starts with something simple. A buttered toast with a cup of coffee lasts him for a few hours, if he has to make breakfast for himself. Lunch consists of a cup of tea and a scone or a couple of biscuits. He takes his dinner somewhere in town, not one to cook, so even his supper is most usually a take out. Sometimes Mrs. Hudson provides food, but he tries not to exploit her. Too much, that is. Leading a rather active life and skipping meals during cases, Sherlock doesn’t really care about what his meal consists of, whether it’s considered healthy or full of nutrients. To him, it’s simply fuel, and he very rarely puts any thought into it. That being said, he does refrain from most of the junk food.

DOES SHERLOCK HAVE A GOOD SINGING VOICE?

His voice is not professionally trained. He can carry a tune thanks to his skills in playing violin and composing, but that’s as far as it goes. At best, he hums sometimes, but he never outright sings, not if there is even a slight chance that anyone might hear him.

DOES SHERLOCK HAVE ANY BAD HABITS OR TICS?

Boy, does he ever. Hard drug use — usually cocaine, morphine or meth; he had tried many others in his lifetime, but none of them stuck as much — and smoking are both on and off things for him. He can stay sober for years, but relapses if he experiences a harsh enough trigger. Though he never would admit to being an addict, believing himself to be above such a notion. As for nervous tics, he tends to drum or rub his fingers a lot when nervous or thinking, bounce his leg, tap his feet.

WHAT DOES SHERLOCK USUALLY LOOK LIKE / WEAR?

Most usually always put together, clean shaven, neatly styled dark brown curly hair. A perfectly trimmed, dark designer suit, dress shoes, pristine dress shirt with the first couple of buttons popped open. Outside he’s also wearing a long Belstaff coat and a dark blue scarf. In the setting of his own home, when not expecting any clients, Sherlock opts for either throwing a dressing gown over his shirt and trousers or fully changing into loungewear which basically consists of pajama bottoms and an old, cotton t-shirt.

IS SHERLOCK AFFECTIONATE? HOW MUCH? HOW SO?

Sherlock and affection don’t really go hand in hand. Not used to physical displays or even verbal ones, he struggles to showcase his love or affection to his significant other. Yes, he can act, and pretend if needed for a case, but displaying his true emotions leave him in a rather uncomfortable state. He’s been taught that vulnerability as such is very dangerous, and unlearning this will take years. And even then, there’s no telling if he will be fully able to get rid of this notion and discomfort. He is a bit more comfortable and open when it’s just him and his partner, but public displays of affection are unseemly.

WHAT POSITION DOES SHERLOCK SLEEP IN?

In his own bed, he usually sleeps on his belly, head turned away from the window, one of his arms under the pillow. If Sherlock’s sleeping someplace else, especially if there is limited space, he will sleep fully on his side, turned away from the light source, or if there is another person laying beside him, someone that he’s not in a relationship with, turned away from them. He’s not much of a cuddler, but he won’t oppose being the big spoon, or lay on his back for his partner to cuddle up to his side, but rarely does he initiate the cuddle himself.

COULD YOU HEAR SHERLOCK IN THE HALLWAY FROM ANOTHER ROOM?

Sherlock often speaks in a low, hummed, nearly whispered tone of voice, but the bass in it could still be heard. Not enough to overhear the entire conversation, just the inflection. If, however, he is talking to a client, or is frustrated about something, then his voice carries louder, sometimes even to a point that the whole house could hear him. His voice can be both entirely soothing and incredibly intimidating, unmistakable in a crowd of voices, able to carry even through closed doors.

✧ Post-game focused where Arven is only tentively in Paldea to visit friends and focuses instead on his travels to learn about himself and other foods/dishes in his career as a budding chef! He's mostly moved on from the region and his (lack of) parents.

✧ Very canon divergent. A lot of history, headcanons, and even in-game events are explored differently here. While in some realm canon complimenting this iteration greatly diverges from the norm.

✧ Triggering content containing NSFW both sexual and intensive themes. I do write smut but all of the above is put under a read more and tagged accordingly. Please be 18+ to interact.

✧ Selective, crossover/oc friendly, mutuals only etc etc. I only interact with mutuals and wait to be followed first before following back if I can see our characters and writing meshing well. This is just so I can have an active dashboard that I can freely interact with.

✧ You do not need a verse to interact with my muse. If anything I prefer general crossover to see how they interact in their various worlds.

MOST ACTIVE MUSES?: at the moment rowena macleod is the strongest one. tony stark and molly hooper are burned into my mind though and they are always present and always willing to play. l have strong connections to all three and it hasn't changed for quite a while, idk i guess i just get very attached to my main muses. and matthew crawley is getting up there as well tbh.

EXPERIENCE/HOW MANY YEARS?: i've started and continue my role playing on tumblr. it's been god knows how many years, i know it was when i turned either sixteen or seventeen-ish? i know for a fact that i've deactivated my first rp blog in 2014 (elizabeth swann btw, maybe i'll bring her back someday) and i've played her for a loooong while (also just found a vid i uploaded to youtube for my first rp buddy and that was in 2012 so iT'S BEEN A WHILE).

FLUFF, ANGST, OR SMUT?: really depends on my mood, but at the same time nothing hits quite as well as heavy angst that makes you cry lmao.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES?: i prefer short replies purely because i can get quicker to them. i also believe that there is a time and place for lengthy replies and that it doesn't always need to be that. with good plotting it's so easy to throw down several paras, but if it's an introductory sort of thread, writing more than a paragraph or two becomes challenging tbqh.

PET PEEVES?: i used to write with someone who basically paraphrased my replies every single time and left furthering the plot purely to me. it was lowkey agonizing.

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE?: not at all. most of my muses, especially those three mains mentioned, are geniuses in their respective fields, and are sexually expressive and free. i'm nowhere near their level of intelligence, demisexual, and live a very, very boring life lol. i do share tony's crudeness though, i love dirty jokes asdfg.

TIME TO WRITE?: it used to be during the daytime. then i kinda messed it all up by writing exclusively only while i was at work and chilling when at home. then i switched jobs, am no longer able to write while at work and struggle to write at home cause so many distractions. but i'm slowly getting back there, and it seems like evenings are more creative this time around.

do you make your bed? once a month maybe, when the landlord comes around to pick up the rent. otherwise, icba to walk around the bed in order to make it every morning. it's a tight space and the bed has sharp corners, so whenever i do it, i end up with bruises on my legs lmao. favourite number? genuinely don't have one. job? bank teller. if you could go back to school, would you? absolutely not. even uni. only because idk what i'd want to study and wasting another four years for a degree i have no passion for is nuts. can you parallel park? if i have to, yes. but i avoid it like the plague. can you drive a manual car? yes, when i learned to drive automatic cars weren't very popular here. what's your guilty pleasure? learning about drama i'm not involved in lmao. tattoos? the eye of ra on my wrist. i wanted it on my hand, like one rick has, but the tattoo lady refused to do it there as my first tat. favorite color? violet. obessed with it rn. do you like puzzles? yes. gimme a sudoku any time of day. during lockdown i went ham on puzzles. any phobias? jumpscares. horror movies/stuff. i hate it, it's lowkey traumatic. i only watch unsolved/ghost files bc shane calms me lmao. spiders too. favorite childhood sport? volleyball. lowkey still love it, but don't have where to play it here outside of summer. do you talk to yourself? yes, absolutely. i am the best listener and the only one who gets me lol.
