low blow, asch, low blow! the best luke’s got is making an annoying natalia bird, loud & big & in their faces (definitely not sorry) while making a duplicate asch bird—the natalia bird spots him and immediately starts chasing him. he sends it back.

Alright. He can be just as creative, he’s sure. 

He’s making the bird look like Luke again but giving it dumb little heart eyes after making a bird that looks like Tear (sorry not sorry Tear). The dumb Luke bird is following the Tear bird around like a lovestruck puppy and he sends it back.

Sync’s taking his time, it’d be annoying to start timed moves with someone who didn’t really know how to play. Fingers the white pawn on e2, moving it e4. He’ll start aggressive.

he braced for a snide remark from the god-general, but was... pleasantly surprised when nothing came & the atmosphere didn’t feel irritated. instead, it was... nice. luke regarded the other with curious emerald eyes, waiting for—something. the redhead slowly began to relax then, smiling even when sync spoke.

luke gave a nod & squeak of excitement, ready to learn how to play this game—& maybe finally break down a barrier between them all the while.

Asch settled back in his seat in thought. It coming out as Luke being a replica meant others probably expected him to come back. To return to Baticul and take his place back at his fathers side. But he had no plans to that just yet. Possibly at all. He no longer saw it as his responsibility, nor should it be Lukes. 

“Natalia is perfectly capable of taking the throne when the time comes and ruling on her own. She can find her own suitor instead of romanticizing a promise we made as children. Duke Fabre is still well and alive so there’s no immediate need for either of us to return.”  He waved his hand in a dismissive fashion, feeling tired just thinking of it.

“The way I see it, neither of us have any obligation to keep up the duties expected of us. You were technically a replica and I was supposed to have died in Akzeriuth before I was replicated so I hadn’t had much of a future anyways. Neither of us should exist right now.  Our lives have always been controlled by someone else so why should we not do what we want to?” He fixed his other with a curious look.

that felt like a loaded question. very loaded.

he felt heavy just by thinking the question—though the mention of akzeriuth didn’t help either. luke raised his arms for his elbows to rest on the table, fingers entangled in the air while his mouth rested on them—his expression was pensive, stuck deep in thought.

what is it that luke wanted...? well, he wanted everyone to be happy. he wanted to help what few replicas were still alive, if there were any. he wanted to be useful, he wanted to be someone this time. & he couldn’t do that in the manor.

finally, the redhead’s hands parted from each other & moved to speak. “i want...” hesitation. thought. try again. there was so much he wanted to do. “i want to leave. see world. see everything.”
