"Not to mention all the chocolates, candy, and other gifts piled up outside your bedroom door on every Valentine's day. And Christmas. And your birthday. And whatever other day they can use as an excuse to give you gifts..."

"It's actually kind of a nuisance... It's not like I can--"

"Just face it, dude: You're easily the most attractive person in this castle! Not even Veera can compete!"

"Right? It's gotta be his angelic beauty shining through!"

"W-What are you even talking about--??"

"Of course! Halloween's always been big with demons across the universe, though some take it more seriously than others..."

The Raichu, of course, was talking about the Overlord's Castle's resident ghost, Mocky. He had always been fond of pranks, and he seemed to amp them up to 11 during the Halloween season. Squeaks did his best to stay out of that castle during that time in order to avoid being pranked to oblivion by ghost, but he did still enjoy the other Halloween festivities Sinjho had to offer.

He also noticed that Symphony didn't seem to share the sentiment...

"But what about you? You're a lot more jumpy than usual, is everything aright?"

Symphony knew most demons loved the fall season, as it meant that Halloween was creeping inch by inch every day but she had hoped that Sinjho was different than the rest. Unfortunately...she was wrong.

"Kya!" She jumped and clung to Squeak's arm, shivering in fright all because of a simple Jack-in-the-box toy. The poor android scared too easily, and she was embarrassed to admit it.

"O-Oh um...s-sorry Squeaks. I uh...I see that e-everyone in Sinjho takes Halloween p-pretty seriously here too." She tried not to groan but...she really didn't like Halloween. It was just too scary for a jumpy,anxious girl like her. "U-Um...do you like Halloween?" She asked.

"Man, it got hot way to fast..."

"Weren't you born on a tropical island? How could the heat bother you this much?"

"Just because I was born in a place that's constantly hot and muggy doesn't mean I have to like that kind of weather..."

"I can throw you into the pool if that'll make you feel better."

"What? No! I'd rather go to the beach where I can surf than swim in some over-chlorinated pool!"

"Oh, oh! Then we should have a beach party!"

"Wouldn't be much of a party with just the two of us."

"That's why you make plans, Squeaks."

[Insert one Claire bursting into the room here.]

"Did I hear someone say BEACH PARTY?!"

"Yeah! Maybe one for this weekend, if the weather holds up!"

"I'll clear my schedule!!"

[The two girls continue talking and making plans, while Squeaks and Xell just kind of watch and listen to their antics.]

"...Does it really have to be this weekend? I was kinda hoping I could just spend it playing video games."

"That's what you get for getting Veera all excited."

"All I said was that I didn't want to swim in a pool..."

Squeaks held out a plush Teddiursa to her, a shiny red ribbon tied in a bow around its neck and a matching plush heart in its paws. Hopefully, it was cute enough for her to not notice his hands were ever so slightly trembling...

"I know people usually give chocolates and stuff like that on Valentine's Day... But I saw this and it made me think of you! It's cool if you don't want it, I just, uh, thought you might like it. Yeah."

"So, when are you going to tell her?"

"Do what now?"

"Tell Symphony that you're a demon and multiple other demons have died by your hands?"

"...She doesn't need to--"

"You can't hide it forever, Lance. She seems to think you're some nice, innocent guy. If you're not honest with her she'll eventually find out for herself, and that won't go as smoothly as you want it to."

"I--Look, it's not something she needs to know right now. I'll... I'll figure something out later."

[Sighs.] "You're not doing yourself any favors by putting it off..."

"He has point, y'know."

"Gah, where did you--?!"

[Singing] "If you don't tell her, I will~"

"DO IT AND I'LL MAKE YOU DOUBLE DEAD!"

This note... Squeaks had a pretty good idea about who it was from. On one hand, if his hunch was correct, it was good to know that the feelings he had for her were mutual. But on the other...

He glanced over to the bag of chocolates. They didn't have the same "eating this will probably kill me" vibes her cooking usually had, but they still looked a bit off.

After a moment's consideration, he shrugged and plopped one of them in his mouth. His face instinctively scrunched up a little at the taste, but all things considered it could have been a lot worse.

"...Guess they're kinda edible..."

"Ugh, I hate cold weather! I'd rather have it be super hot and muggy than so cold I have to wear like five shirts just to keep warm! Give me the hottest days in July over the snow and icy air in January!"
