It’s always kind of sad when you run a new level one automaton through their personalized wellness schedule. You’ve worked with all manner of high-class robots, from athletes to opera singers, but none of them have ever come into your program with the type of preexisting regimented day plan Mingyu has. 

You suppose it shouldn't be a shock that, as part of one of the biggest automaton boy groups in the galaxy, he’d had close to zero down time. When you show him the library and explain he should sit down in a spot of sun somewhere and read for an hour every day, at a slow pace, he looks at you like you’re crazy. 

“I don’t understand how this is supposed to help me,” he tells you, as you walk through the facility towards one of your favourite wellness locations; the pool.

“This might be an archaic example,” you explain, “but back when humanity first started making computers, laptops and such, many people would keep their computers on indefinitely. Sure they’d close the screen, but that’s not enough. You’d need to actually power down the device to keep its performance up.”

“I’m not a laptop,” Mingyu reminds you, with a flash of something like humour in his eye.

“You’re not,” you conceded, “which is why your nightly power downs aren’t enough. As an automaton, you were built to emulate being a human, but many people disregard one of the most fundamental aspects of humanity; the need for rest. Sleep and powering down isn’t enough if every waking moment is spent working or learning or practicing your trade- you have to allow for a variety of restful activities, such as reading, painting, gardening- it depends on who you are and your skillset though. For a chef, he might not gain rest from cooking because his neurons would still be firing with the intensity of someone doing their trade. Which is why, although I’ve given you physical activities such as swimming and tennis, you won’t be doing any dancing while you’re here.”

“What if I forget my moves?” 

“Something tells me the likelihood of that is very low,” you smile. 

“Okay, maybe I won’t forget my moves,” Mingyu sighs, “but I was made to dance. I was made to perform. What am I if not a level one dancer and singer?”

“There’s more to life than one’s job, however all-encompassing being a level one might be,” you explain. “I’m sure it’s very taxing on you.”

Mingyu pauses in the middle of the corridor you’re walking down, and you stop to assess him. 

“Are you alright?” you ask.

“Yeah,” he gives his head a little shake, and you’re shocked again at how human like the automaton is. “It’s just… no one has ever talked about this sort of thing with me. It’s always been work, work, work. It’s what I’m designed to do-”

“You may have been designed to be a dancer and a singer,” you nod empathetically, “but part of being alive is choosing your own destiny, as you and your bandmates all did when you escaped your facility.”

“Do you really think that?” he questions, standing very still and looking at you with a dark gaze. “That I’m alive?”

“At this point in time, artificial intelligence has progressed to the level where we’re told you’re sentient, that you can feel and think. That you’re as life-like as you’ve ever been in the history of the galaxy. You might have been created in a lab, hand-crafted and designed by some would-be God engineer, but to me, yes, Mingyu, you’re alive.”

You’re always so polite and overly apologetic to me 😭 I genuinely love doing readings and am happy to have people come back so it’s not a bother at all! Also if I needed a break or something I would just post about it and close my ask box briefly! So as long as it’s open it’s okay to ask me for reads or just to talk to me :3 I appreciate how considerate you are when asking either way but you don’t have to apologize so much to me! I won’t mention anything specific in the bigger ask but I did read it and it really means a lot to me and makes me motivated to keep doing readings even if I’m only helping one person at a time!!

For this question two cards actually came out? You got the Seven of Wands and Four of Wands! Also I keep hearing this nagging like “organize organize organize!!” Is that something you struggle with? If not a struggle you may need to rethink how you’re currently organizing and work on prioritizing more effectively? Something about making a chart with most important to least important tasks when it comes to career goals or things like chores to keep you more on top of it? But with the Seven of Wands this card is about setting boundaries or standing up for yourself, so rather than applying your current skillset this feels like you need to work on being firm with outside sources that may become a distraction or may try to get in the way of your success. I’m also hearing that you may need to cut people out who are super negative or don’t have anything nice to say either in general or about your goals. It’s important to have a supportive social circle and be around people who believe in you at the very least! The Four of Wands is all about harmony (it also represents marriage whether it be to a goal or a person is up to you) so again (to me) it seems to be less about your skillset and more about you creating a productive environment for yourself? Working through what helps you get things done and what doesn’t, learning to prioritize certain things, or managing your time more wisely when it comes to the goals you have in place! It feels kinda lame to say you already have the skills you need but that’s what these cards tell me! It may be helpful to start small and just make lists of things you need to do and put them where you’ll constantly notice them :3 also something is tugging at my heart like gently pulling so with the marriage card you may find romance soon? If that’s something you’re looking for. It almost feels like a whirlwind (but a blessing) is going to happen in your life soon!

🏀 Does your OC have any skills that people wouldn’t expect them to have? Do they have a hobby or pass time that others would consider strange or weird? How did they learn this particular skill or pick up this hobby?

Rho’s skillset is pretty standard for a trained Force-wielder, and their aquatic specialties are likewise the norm for their species. the only thing others really ever found strange about Rho was their tendency to question everything in their youth, something that was discouraged to the point that they gave up asking others and instead started doing their own research to learn for themselves. their reclusiveness was considered a bit odd among the Jedi, but not so much out of the ordinary as to be of any real note. a natural ease when it comes to communicating with animals is among standard Jedi traits, but Rho’s ability was considered a bit of a novelty with Maul and Savage when the trio first came together. 

🌙 What are some of your OC’s favourites? Favourite food, colour, season, stuff like that! Give some general simple facts that tend to get overlooked!

to the surprise of no one, Rho loves seafood of any kind, and really enjoys trying new foods. they adore warm climates and hues of blue. when it comes to comfort in their surroundings they favor cool, natural colors and organic shapes (they were pretty miserable on Mandalore for this reason, among others). their sense of fashion involves loose, comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement in the water and dries quickly. one of their favorite pastimes as a Jedi apprentice was spending time around younglings, at that point hoping someday to be allowed an apprentice of their own. their love of children has not diminished, though in their adulthood they have come to question their capability in terms of raising a child (especially considering their partner is about as far from paternal as one can get). 

🐟 What was your OC like as a baby? What were they like as a child? A teenager? An adult? How do you think they’ll develop ten years into their future? Twenty years? Will they live to old age?

ever since their early childhood, Rho has always been restless. during their time with the Jedi, from the time they were recruited as a little one, they always felt distanced from their companions and only ever experienced happiness and a sense of freedom when accompanying their Master on offworld missions. they were curious and driven with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge of any kind, which led to them spending a lot of time in the archives, choosing literature over other companionship. despite being so withdrawing and quiet, they were still friendly and kind when interacting with others, so their fellow apprentices came to think of them as ‘distracted’, or more bluntly, a bookish airhead. going rogue in their early adulthood was the best thing that has ever happened to them, as they finally feel free and in control of their own life and destiny, and look forward to continuing to grow in themself as they roam the galaxy with a new outlook on life. as for living to old age, they spend little time thinking that far ahead, as realistically they know they likely won’t make it that far, but are choosing to hold onto the hope that they and their newfound family will eventually find peace together.

The design phase of the collection building process is one of the most magical for me. This is where all of the ideas and inspirations I've had floating around in my head have a chance to be born.
