After longest night Reader is on the run after everyone goes crazy overprotective, what if they met Demona for the first time?
They heard a little about Goliath's ex, and how much she hates humans. A little, defenseless, weak human child all on their own would be nothing to her. They know that they couldn't stand a chance against her, Demona could kill them in one hit.
So they run, wanting to avoid yet another terrible fate (seriously what is wrong with this city?) and they end up going down into a empty abandoned subway station. They don't really have a goal on where to go, just "away from here".
When they run run straight into someone stoney while Demona is hot on their heels, their night just goes from bad to terrible.
Reader: FOR F*CK'S SAKE, WHAT THE H*LL IS WRONG WITH NEW YORK?!?!
Demona: I've found you, human!
Macbeth: I've also found you, child!
Stranger???: It seems its a duel... for the tiny child...
Reader: I'm not tiny!!! You're all just really f*cking tall!! And who are you calling child?! I'm a teenager!
The three: turn to stare at Reader
Reader: You know what... go back to your fight
The three: start battling
Reader, running away: f*ck f*ck F*CK-!

Can you explain the relationship between Reader and the Manhattan Gargoyles in the longest night au?
Goliath is dad shaped and I would really like to know how Reader fits into their weird family
Okay! Great question! (FINALLY! SOMEONE ASKS ABOUT THE LONGEST NIGHT AU!!!)
Okay, here's the gist:
Reader is a teen who knows Elisa Maza, survived a horrible crime (murder, an attack, attempted murder, etc.), and is with Elisa as her ward and for protection. Reader meets the Gargoyles through her, and is quick to see Goliath as dad-shaped, Hudson as a grandpa, Bronx is like a sweet, giant puppy, and the young gargoyles as kinda-brothers/kinda-friends. It's hard NOT to like them, plus they're so so SO cool (Reader loved gargoyles and dragons and snakes).
For Goliath, Reader is like a shared custody child between him and Elisa. He sees them as younger than they are, and wants what he thinks is best for them. They're a friend to his kids, they aren't scared of them, and they've been hurt before and need help and protection, so Reader is very adoptive child-shaped to him. (It doesn't help that gargoyles age half as fast as humans, so even if Reader was 20, he'd see them as like, 10). When the artifact or magic affects him, he becomes ten times more parental, is obsessed with all his kids being where he can see them and in the same place, and will do anything to keep them with him...
For Hudson, Reader is like one of the young gargoyles. They ask questions, they try to get him to do something with them, they like books and games and watch TV with him, so they're already like part of the clan. Of course, they're also a little more breakable than a gargoyle, so that means having to be extra careful when playfighting or wrestling or playing games. (He's seen human children, he knows a bit more than the others, but still not a lot). When the artifact/magic comes into play, he starts guarding the younger members of the clan, acts very protective, and keeps herding them to safety or curling around them if they're in a nest...
For Brooklyn, Reader is like a partner-in-crime. He does something, the also come along. He wants food, they seem to want some, too. He does something and gets hurt, they're there to aid him. They're already like a sibling, whether he'd ever admit it or not. When the artifact gets involved, it regressed the younger gargoyles a bit, moving them into a slightly younger, slightly more primal mindset, such as wanting to nest, preferring to have hatchmates around, and wanting Goliath and Hudson and Elisa to be there for comfort and warmth...
For Broadway, Reader is like a younger friend. They share interests, like reading and learning how to cook from Elisa, but they're also both kind. (When the artifact happens, it affects Broadway the same as the other two younger gargoyles)...
For Lexington, Reader is helpful, but someone to get to know. They're curious, and while not a gargoyle, they have some pretty neat tricks he tries to learn about, while they try to learn crafting and building from him. (When the artifact happens, it affects Lexington the same way it affects the other two younger gargoyles)...
Bronx likes that Reader feeds him treats. He doesn't mind licking them, following them, or sleeping near them. (Acts mostly the same after the artifact).
(And the artifact affects humans, too...)
(Thank you, @sugar-soda!)

So are Reader's biological parents dead or in prison in the Longest Night au, because Elisa has custody of them, but they aren't her actual kid.
What does everyone do if Reader's parents try to get them back, both pre and post artifact?
Speaking of the artifact, wouldn't it be messed up if it was physically inside Reader (because Magic) , so no matter what, they can't escape the effects?
Oh dear...
Reader is not with their parents. They more or less had a falling out (due to Reader being queer and/or because of the crime), and Reader, for their safety and health, were placed with Elisa for the time being.
Yes, Elisa hates their parents, so do the gargoyles, and Xanatos is glad he doesn't have extra competition. (He's also mad, but he doesn't do emotions well).
Pre artifact, Elisa would get a restraing order on them; Goliath and the clan woukd threaten then if they tries to get Reader; and Xanatos would mess with them psychologically and monetarily.
Post artifact? Dear heavens... Elisa is trying trying get them arrested, the clan has no qualms on getting rid of them, and Xanatos is ruining their lives to the point they'd have to beg for him to stop.
If the artifact is in Reader (say, perhaps, they themself ARE the artifact) well... Reader is pretty much scr*wed. Because no matter who they're with, they'll eventually get too protective, too obsessed, and stop at nothing to keep Reader with them.

For the X-Men/Gargoyles AU (where the X-Men are set in a Gargoyles-esque universe, but they take the place of those characters), I think I've figured out the new dynamics. This is different from the Gargoyles series, because trying to fit a few X-Men into one character's place was very difficult. So what did I do? Changed it around a bit.
Let's look at it this way:
Logan/Wolverine and Ororo/Storm take the place of Goliath, being a couple or good friends, while Victor/Sabretooth and Raven/Mystique take the place of Demona. So each pair is a friend to the other or a sibling, but aren't romantic. So, Logan and Victor are brothers, Ororo and Raven are sisters, but Logan and Ororo are really good friends or mates, and Victor and Raven are really good friends or mates. Take your pick.
Xavier becomes David Xanatos, and Magneto becomes a mix of Owen Burnett/Puck and Fox, and surprise, they're reincarnated gargoyles this go (which wasn't in the show, but this is my au, so it goes). They're like a cool, mysterious older couple, who always seem to know something Reader doesn't (they know a lot of things they don't, but they'll reveal everything in due time...) (Victor and Raven know, too, and it's the one reason they haven't tried to kill Reader... with the information they have, why would they?)
Hank/Beast takes the place of Hudson, Gambit takes the place of Brooklyn, Kurt takes the place of Broadway, Evan takes the place of Lexington... Bronx, I'm not sure if any of the X-Men had a pet (I'm using X-Men Evolution for this, by the way), so I guess I can add an extra teen... so let's go with... Kitty (why not?).
Reader takes a new role, which is... different to Elisa's. They do some detective work, possibly, but as a teen, maybe. Or maybe they're an assistant to Xavier. They could just be some random person who happened to stumble into all of this. But they take the main character role, I guess, who isn't a gargoyle (they were one in a past life, though, so do with that what you will)
Scott and Jean take the place of Matt Bluestone as well as Coldstone and Coldfire. They're Reader's older friends, (and are the reincarnated spirits of two of the long dead gargoyles from the Wyvern Clan Massacre). Rogue is also their friend, and is like a mix of Morgan the cop, the chief of police, and Elisa's family... (maybe she is related to Reader? maybe not? and she is Kurt's long dead sister reincarnated... so that makes her Raven's daughter, but a human in this new life).
Lance, Todd/Toad, Fred, Pietro, and Wanda are here, too. They might be a version of the Pack (a kid/teen version), they could be a gang similar to one in the series, maybe they're just also random people dragged into this mess. They are there, and that's that.
Now, I say this would have it's own 🌕Longest Night❄ AU, which would be where the adult gargoyles (the reincarnated ones too) are affected by a magical artifact, during the long nights of Winter, and go about surprise adopting (kidnapping) their reincarnated kids... And their gargoyle kids are affected too, but are in a hatchling/younger state of mind. So they aren't going to be much help to Reader or the others. Let's just hope the long nights ahead don't last... And if they do, how do they stop them?
(Ask any questions you want about this au, I'm working on it right now, the Haunted Mansion AU on a break while I work out the main au branch...)

Reader Fun Facts for the Gargoyles AU (and/or Longest Night AU):
• Reader loves Cagney, Elisa's cat; they feed him treats, they cuddle him when scared, and they will give him bits of chicken from their plate (Cagney is spoiled by them)
• Reader really, really does care about Elisa; they think she's the best thing to ever happen to them, they just don't express it much
• Reader finds Goliath intimidating, but tries to not shrink on themself when he talks to them
• Reader is good at memory games
• Reader doesn't trust Xanatos, and decide it's better not to listen or believe a word he says; it's easier that way
• Reader can sense magic/smell magic (it smells like Sprite and cranberries)
• Reader likes Shakespeare plays and classic music, as well as Christmas and/or Winter songs

How on earth did the artifact get inside Reader? (Or how did Reader become the artifact? whichever you want to go with)
Hmmm...
I imagine if Reader themself is the artifact, Oberon or Titania messed with a human, or one of their children did, and thus Reader was somehow born... or one of their enchanted items, once broken, was brought back, but by some complication, was remade as a baby... or, third option, Reader was enchanted at birth to be a human enchanted to be of use, so like a living helper or child or whatever was wanted, really...
Let's go with... option number three!
(And thus Reader's enchantment on them, including that they can't be harmed, saved their life, and because something almost ended it, is now stronger than before, making others not want to harm them, or even makes them become protective...)
(Note: When Reader comes in contact with, say, other magical items, or relics, it can sometimes cause strange reactions or effects...)
(Thank you, fair folk) (Reader wants to discuss maybe recording that spell to not be quite so strong) (yeah... they need to avoid the King and Queen, and their "children")

@sugar-soda @crowwithguns @thewickedweiner Hello! This should help explain the very base/backbone of the Dark Gargoyles AU! You can ask about that au, or the Longest Night One! (I'm taking a small break from X-Men, it might be a few hours, it might be day, it could be a week. I am refueling my creativity by focusing on another niche fandom I enjoy!)
hope you’re having a wonderful break!!
I am! Well, I'm enjoying it as best I can. Just having to give my mind a break from the horrors of the world. So that means I've been focusing on doing thi gs that calm me down or make me feel better. I hope you're doing well, too, @crowwithguns. I'm working on a few ideas for the Platonic Yandere Gagroyles AU, which includes a Dark AU, where Reader ends up in a dark timeline or reincarnates, and the Longest Night AU, where a magical artifact messes with some of the characters and influences them to be overprotective and obsessive... So it basically turns them more platonic yandere than they already were. If you have questions about it, I'll do my best to answer, but I'm only working with Gargoyles for now, as it's what I'm watching to cheer myself up. It's pretty good!

Okay... After further thinking, and getting a bit of inspiration, I've decided to work on the X-Men/Gargoyles AU, where the X-Men and their world are like Gargoyles. Logan and Storm take the place of Goliath, Victor and Mystique take the place of Demona, and they're all more or less friends, I guess. Gambit, Kurt, and Evan are the Trio, and Kitty is there, too! Hank takes the place of Hudson, and is about the age as Logan and Storm and Victor and Mystique. Charles and Erik are reincarnated gargoyles, who take the places of Xanatos, Puck, and Fox. Rogue, Scott, and Jean are a mix of Matt Bluestone and Elisa and Elisa's family, and are reincarnated gargoyle kids from the Massacre. And Reader is there, too, as a reincarnated gargoyle kid as well...
I want to work on a Dark AU or the Longest Night AU at the moment. I'm not taking requests, but you can ask questions, okay? Have a good day/night!

I'm open to discussing this AU, too, if anyone's interested, as I might be entering a Gargoyles phase for a day or two-

Okay, so, I might either reboot this au or tweak it a little. @sugar-soda, if you would like, I wouldn't mind discussing ideas with you! I don't know if all of the teens should be gargoyles, or I should keep my original idea where only a few are. I'm keeping the reincarnation thing, because I love that idea. And Charles and Erik are the power couple who take the places of Xanatos, Fox, and Owen/Puck...
Have a great day, folks, and stay safe!!!
