Siddhartha Gautama, the latest Buddha. नमो बुद्धाय (1/2)
Born in Lumbuni Nepal, travelling through Magadha - Indo-Gangetic Plain. His teachings were mainly based on local Sramana philosophical concepts. Somewhat influenced by Vedic Brahmanism, Ajivika and Jainism, Buddhism started as an alternative for the new Indo-Europeans from the west and the Dravidian populations in the South of the sub-continent.
In the first two hundred years the teachings were spread by Oral traditions such hymns and stories. Later on around it was written down as more influences on the teachings were being made. The different divisions of the Buddha Dharma meant isolated influences on the Dharma but also reactions to each other resulting in complete different schools. The most distinctive difference is between de so called Theravada Buddha Dharma and the Gandhara Buddha Dharma. Heavily influenced for at least 400 years by Hellenism, the Gandhara Buddha Dharma spread towards the West via the Silk Road and the East, towards China and Korea.
What form or how to express 'Buddhism' is not a real problem as long the Sramana Dharma and the essence, goals and behaviour codes are not being changed.

Siddhartha Gautama, the latest Buddha. नमो बुद्धाय (2/2)
Buddhism for me is liberation from mental and physical 'suffering'. What suffering is, is subjective to some extent. We have the Ithihaas (history) and the Tripitaka (teachings of the Buddha) to give us guidance but more importantly for the our times are the science based literature. Our Brains, psychology and the interaction with our bodies are based on the laws and mechanisms of Nature. We are nature and that is essence of the Buddha Dharma itself. Not should we see ourselves as mere independent factors in this world, we are interdependent and our meaning in existence depends on this interaction.
My family is Hindu and this is how I was raised. Slowly but steadily I found myself questioning the Hindu Dharma and in particular the Sanatan Dharma. I started learning about Sikhi, Advaita Vedanta, Sufism and Jainism. But within the Buddha Dharma I realized what suffering in life really is and how to deal with it most Humanistic as possible. And this the second layer in the Buddha Dharma I find relevant for the modern approach. The Buddha Dharma is not about praying the sins away or living a certain way to be more like the gods, it really emphasizes how we all can change and grow and depend realisticily on/with each other. We need each other to be ourselves. We need Nature to be Human. We need Suññata (emptiness) to find the meaning in our life. And most importantly, we need Dukka (suffering) to know and realize Nirvana (libération). All is relative and subject to change. There is a time for/of becoming, a time for/of existing and a time for/of destruction.
The third layer for acknowledgement of the Buddha Dharma is the Madyamaka (middle way). It is a antidote against extremism and nativity/nihilism. Within the Madyamaka approach one finds Suññata and realize the Ocean of potential. This is the healthiest place for growth and change as here the cradle of Humanism is seated: self-realization and reproduction to name a few. The Buddha Dharma is all about mental health and the mind-body interaction. The more we do this together, the greater the outcome will be!
Namo Buddhaya 🙏🏾📿

I recently visited to the National Botanical Garden in Godawari, Nepal, with my family, after a decade. This location is well-known in Nepal for its magnificent natural surroundings. It was great to view the garden's rich and Beautiful surrounds, which were full of natural beauty. The garden features a diverse plant collection and a peaceful ambience. It is very popular for tourist spot in Nepal, and I was delighted to rediscover its charm after so many years.
We had to pay an entry fee to get in, and after showing our tickets, we entered the National Botanical Garden. The view was absolutely stunning and even better than what I remembered from a long time ago. There have been significant changes in the plantings, and they've also created clear pathways for the visitors to explore. The improvements made the experience even more enjoyable, and I was impressed by the positive changes they've made over the years.
Godawari, as described in the book, is a paradise for nature enthusiasts, with an impressive diversity of species. Around 1000 plant species are conserved here, both in-situ and ex-situ. I asked one of the preservers present there, and he said This entire godawari area is home to 256 different bird species, accounting for one-third of all bird species in Nepal. Furthermore, Godawari is known for having over 300 kinds of butterflies and moths, which add to the vivid array of life seen in this area.
I believe the Godawari’s National Botanical Garden was one of the areas carefully conserved by our Government. But there is still lot of work to be done. Some of my recommendations are:
Preserving godawari demands a comprehensive strategy. The government should declare it a protected area and make it mandatory for sustainable tourist activities. It has the potential to become one of the top tourism destinations for both internal and external tourists.
Let’s involve local people and try to construct more required infrastructure, as well as educate every tourists about the history and present circumstances, and perform regular monitoring locally also collaborating with other NGOs and INGOs if possible.
Let us assure law enforcement and strive to put a long-term plan in place. If our efforts fail, let’s seek international assistance and conduct restoration operations. This multimodal strategy will ensure the beauty and biodiversity of godawari for our future generations. #nepal #visitnepal #godawaribotanicalgarden #Godawari
