“you’re— you’re— i can’t even . . . ohmygod? just wow.” he says all in one breath, eyes struggling to focus on just one part of you. his hands hover just over your torso, tracing the air over eager skin. he doesn’t know if he can handle even a second more of this. is he dreaming right now? is he allowed to?

god, let him have this. finally, his hands find their way to your hips, slender fingers flexing against smooth curves. he could feel your body pressed against his, warm and solid. real.

he always had a snarky quip or a teasing remark to lighten the mood, but right now, all that escapes his lips is an uncharacteristically pathetic sound he doesn’t mean to let slip.

“pip— you’re gorgeous. i mean you’re always gorgeous! o-obviously. always have been,” he sputters, his breathing almost erratic as he chastises himself in an attempt to chase after what little shred of common sense and control he has left. “can i? i mean, will you let me . . . ? no— god, if i could just—“

caleb babbles perhaps a million things per minute—prayers most likely, so fast that it makes your head spin. it isn’t until he feels your touch on his chest that he calms down, your hand warm and solid. real.

“slow down.” you sigh from your place in his lap. he looks like he’s about to burst into tears— or flames. “use your words, caleb.”

he was a man on the edge, a man finally acknowledging his need. his lips found the sensitive spot on your collarbone, teeth scraping against tender flesh lightly.

he looks at you for further permission, a violet gaze that is screaming please, please, please, let me have this. hesitantly, he places an experimental kiss along your jaw. then one to your lips. then another, and another until he can’t remember a feeling that could ever be better than this. it’s desperate, rushed, and a little clumsy, a culmination of years spent holding back.

he feels the heat of your body through the thin fabric of your clothes, the weight of your thighs pressed against his. his fingers find the edge of your shirt, slipping underneath to ghost over your skin. his touch is both gentle and possessive, as if claiming something long overdue as his.

zayne who is strictly f2p. i cannot imagine this man spending money on the game. he occasionally plays during his breaks. he listens to the tender moments as background noise while he works. he has your affinity level at about 68 which is the culmination of many months checking in and mostly doing his dailies.

zayne who actually uses the ‘remind me’ feature to help him get some rest. nothing beats your sweet voice telling him he’s working too hard and that he needs to go to bed!!

zayne who seems like he’d be a very casual player who enjoys the sweet, soft cards. however, tomorrow’s catch-22 drops and he is a changed man!! <3

xavier who is somehow incredibly lucky without even trying?? he’s pulling your 5 star memories left and right, early pity. definitely posts his pulls on social media, which is the envy of everyone else.

xavier who enjoys the combat system the most. he clears abyssal chaos and the hunter contest with ease. it comes quite easy to him, the protocores, the substats, the playstyles.

xavier who only pays for the aurum pass, but that’s about it when it comes to his spending. he’s living off a hunter’s salary and can only offer so much to his virtual wife…

rafayel who is glint photobooth’s greatest enemy. he has all of your outfits and accessories unlocked. he didn’t buy those all for nothing. he’s spending hours on glint photobooth and snapshot, capturing your beauty just right. he’d post it on social media like the masterpiece you are <3

rafayel who actually takes the time to play the stories and read the lore. his assistant is calling him, but he couldn’t care less. he needs to know what happens next. he’s laying in bed, kicking around like a schoolgirl with a crush. he’s currently sobbing over your backstory and getting pissed off on your behalf when another character wrongs you.

rafayel who has your affinity level already maxed out. he’s flexing the ring on every outfit he dresses you up in. he’s cleared out all the story content there is to offer, besides the combat levels. he rarely plays the hunter contest, but he occasionally does abyssal chaos to read the stories and interactions.

sylus who is an absolute whale. we all know it. he is R3’ing all of your memories. lost a 50/50? doesn’t matter, his card is already out and ready to be used.

sylus who finds the game to be a rather endearing past time. you’re a welcome break in his busy day. luke and kieran will find him at his desk, looking rather amused as he pokes his phone for maybe the hundredth time tonight.

sylus who sends luke and kieran out to buy merch for him when he’s busy, sending them in his stead to fan events. he advises them to stop at nothing. online bid? he’s already won. limited edition merch item? he got it three weeks before it was even announced with his connections. on his desk, you’ll probably find a small acrylic stand of you by his computer.

caleb who actually has horrible luck. he has most of your standard 5 star memories maxed out, mostly due to losing so many 50/50s. at first he was like “psh. it’s just a game. i won’t have to spend any money.” but, then he lost the 50/50 on the anniversary banner and the flood gates opened. now, he’s willing to drop large amounts of money at a time if it means getting your precious memories.

caleb who takes full advantage of the ‘quality time’ feature. mostly to unlock your workout outfit, but he likes to have you cheering him on by the side while he completes his regimen.

caleb who gets oddly competitive during kitty cards? like he’s about to crash out the moment you cancel out one of his assist cards. his hands are gripping the phone, his palms are sweating, his breath is hitching, he’s grunting in frustration. someone looks over his shoulder to see what the hell is stressing him out so much… you just changed his teacup color from red to blue…

girldad!zayne who is irrevocably terrified of fatherhood. ironic, he knows.

zayne who has helped delivered more children than he can count, yet his hands still tremble when he cradles one of his own. his daughter.

zayne who needs to keep reminding himself he is a capable man. he’s done this before, he can do it again. there shouldn’t be a problem. he of all people shouldn’t feel this way. he knows you need help the most right now.

zayne who is hesitant to touch her. he keeps imagining these silly, impossible scenarios that leave him waking up in a horrible, cold sweat. like, if his ice evol were to act up while he was holding her. he knows for a fact he’s since come to stabilize himself, that the chances of him hurting her with his evol were slim to none, but what if it did happen? he wouldn’t know what to do with himself. he wouldn’t know how to face you. her.

zayne who is trying his best to support her.

zayne who tenses up when you place his daughter into his arms. he looks towards you. that look in your eyes, something that held only the purest form of trust and understanding. he slowly relaxes, his hand steadily coming up to caress the baby girl’s soft cheek.

zayne who wants to be there for every single one of her milestones. her first word, her first time crawling, her first time trying a carrot (preferably steamed), the first time she chooses to run to dad rather than mom— even though he knows the chances are slim to none.

zayne who feels like he’s finding happiness all over again. first, with you. then, with her.

that happiness, he’s found, came in the form of every morning the two of you spent gushing over how adorable she was as she ate in her high chair, and every night the two of you stood exhausted by her crib after hours of trying to get her to sleep.

lately, that happiness has begun to come in the form of every morning he spends getting her ready for school, meticulously tying her hair in pretty ribbons just how she likes, and every night he sits at her bedside, tucking her in with a goodnight kiss to the forehead.

zayne who is trying his best to be a good father.

ahh… self destructive, slightly evil raf with severe control issues… thinking thinking thinking. personally, i don’t find this attractive. but, it makes for an incredibly complex, multifaceted character. i love how it adds more depth to his usually sulky, passionate, cute side that we usually see.

as i said in my last lil rant, he is all consuming. he needs your full devotion, your full attention, to feel complete. otherwise, it doesn’t count.

this is even seen in the nightly stroll story in which he infers that human promises are less genuine than how his people do it. he needs to hear it come from your mouth. he needs to hear you promise that you aren’t leaving.

seeing him basically drown us in the forgotten sea myth solidifies his need for control and how he enjoys having that power over us.

“tis not worship that i desire. from the depths of your very soul, i seek only the purest devotion.”

he holds our life in his hands in that moment and i know for a fact he’s gettin’ a real kick out of it.

god, he has issues and it’s great for lil ol’ writer me ( ´ཀ` ) this is canon sorry. i love/hate an evil man. he’s so. lovely. it’s making me scream. as your biggest fan, rafayel, you are a sick fucking man. i love it!!!

LEAST TO MOST LIKELY TO . . . get along ?

which of the love and deepspace men would get along if they met? ⸺ ㅤpurely interactions between lads love interests! no mentions of mc, so i’m avoiding the jealousy trope.

LEAST LIKELY TO

rafayel + xavier

it’s not that i think they won’t like each other. it’s just that rafayel needs someone to match his energy and challenge him, while xavier seems just okay with being passive when interacting with other people. rafayel needs his full attention while he’s ranting, so if xavier falls asleep, they’re done.

not to say xavier is dumb— he’s very intelligent when he wants to be, but he comes across as someone with a one track mind. i’m not sure he’d understand what rafayel is saying half the time, but he’s very polite and understanding about it.

sylus + caleb (pre farspace fleet)

outwardly, they would get along. they look like the perfect picture of brotherhood: an arm swung over the other’s shoulder and a loud promise to get drinks sometime.

in reality, they’re running background checks on each other the moment they’re out of the other’s earshot. sylus knew there was something darker beneath caleb’s charismatic gaze and caleb definitely picked up the fact sylus wasn’t telling him the full truth of his profession.

zayne + rafayel

zayne is a man very comfortable in his space. rafayel is a man very comfortable in zayne’s space. the artist thinks zayne is too uptight and tries to get him out of his office and have some fun, but the doctor is clearly not interested in that.

rafayel would never push it and make zayne uncomfortable. he’d simply except that the other man was happy with where he was. there’s no tension between them, but they just don’t compliment each other. no hard feelings.

MOST LIKELY TO

zayne + xavier

there’s a quiet understanding between them. zayne is a little concerned about xavier’s health if anything. obviously, they don’t become best friends, but they do get along.

i don’t think either of them are the greatest with expressing their feelings and neither of them are interested in talking about it. they recognize that in each other and find the most solace knowing that neither of them are expecting anything more from the other.

rafayel + sylus

two rich men with an appreciation for the finer things in life… they would 100% get along. rafayel wouldn’t judge sylus for the things he’s done— he’s probably done worse anyway.

i imagine they met at one of rafayel’s art exhibition and started talking. there’s something so refreshing about the way rafayel describes his art, much better than the suffocating corporate speak sylus is forced to hear every day.

sylus is invited to all of rafayel’s next exhibitions and and rafayel happens to be sylus’ occasional plus-one to auctions. they’re besties now sorry i don’t make the rules. i could talk about them forever

note: i didn’t include as many caleb pairings because his lore is genuinely so intertwined with the mc that i had a hard time coming up with any ideas. also, even the most sociable people like sylus or rafayel are perceptive enough to see there’s more beneath the surface. they notice that caleb is actually… kind of off putting? love caleb though!

obviously there are some more interactions i missed like zayne + sylus. they probably wouldn’t like each other, maybe they would, and i don’t know when it would make sense for them to meet… sylus gets a check up i guess <3 old men yaoi

omg wow it’s taken me so long to talk about my thoughts on caleb. i’ve been so obssesed with him lately and for good reason.

in love and deepspace, you get this incredible line up of love interests. you’re getting the famous artist that’s also a sea god. an arms dealer that’s actually a dragon. a gorgeous green flag doctor who’s your childhood friend. your strange coworker that’s actually a star prince or something ??

it all seems very fantastical, people that you’d only meet in a fairytale. which is great because i love all of the LIs, obviously

BUT CALEB. to me, he feels the most realistic. like i’ll look at him and i can tell this is a guy with a cock and balls i can’t even lie.

his and mc’s relationship is so ??? real ????? maybe not the fact that he is obsessed with her, but everything about them screams of home.

hidden waves, endless summer, everything pre-farspace fleet i am obsessed. he works hard and loves even harder like. im so sick.

he is someone i’ve met before and that’s an odd thought. domestic caleb is everything and i’d defend him with my life.

about dawnbreaker . . .

i’m a fairly new player. i tried it out love and deepspace when the game first launched before dropping it for a while. no joke, i just made a new account last week and fell in love all over again. ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜;) 

i was not a zayne fan to begin with. when i started playing love and deepspace i was like… is this not just another jumin han/artem wing copy… (sorry zayne fans im getting to the point in a second i promise) BUT. i recently started looking more into zayne lore because i’m trying to do that for all of the love interests.

(¬_¬") at first, i thought he was bland, boring, and unoriginal. however, i’ve found that his only crime, truly, was loving you. learning that dawnbreaker!zayne doesn’t have mc in his universe was genuinely so devastating.

in every possible life time, zayne is destined to forget you. doomed to be alone, zayne still falls in love every time. how can you chase a fate you cannot have?

having to fall in love with you through the memories and dreams of doctor!zayne is a cruel existence. seeing you through the eyes of a man he is supposed to be is heart wrenching. that was a future he could’ve had.

the writer in me wants to write the most horrible angst for him, but i also want to treat him with nothing but careful affection. ♡ i love zayne in the way that i wish the world (game devs haha) were kinder to him. i want nothing but the best for him. (੭ ˊ^ˋ)੭ ♡

about xavier . . . a quick ramble-rant

i’ve somewhat touched on all of the lads guys except caleb and xavier. caleb because i don’t know enough about him. and xavier because i don’t fucking like him.

wait i’m sorry come back xavier fans… i’m not done yet… (◞‸◟；) xavier is such a nothing-burger character to me. i don’t find the jealousy and freakiness he’s portrayed with by the fandom to be attractive. like… at all.

fortunately, there is hope for him and hope for me. it’s hard for me to truly hate any character. i think every character deserves a bit of grace and some time to look at them more closely. i didn’t like zayne when i started playing. i looked at his lore, now i do!

i hope xavier’s lore is cool and worth writing about. i genuinely could not give a fuck about xavier, but he keeps coming home and ruining my 50/50s so i feel like i have to make an analysis post on him.

i do like some things about him. he is one of the cuter love interests in the game, which i am a big fan of. rafayel lover right here if you couldn’t tell. he has one of my favorite english voices out of the others, besides maybe sylus. i like lumiere, then again, i always like the myth versions. i think he is super adorable.

i’m not a fan of characters who come across as closed off or distant. but, how can i blame someone for being bad at expressing themselves? he simply has trouble articulating himself and i get that. i’m definitely seeing him improving on this as i progress through the game and he gets closer to the mc. he is the type that’s probably your best friend, even while dating. i love that a lot.

i believe xavier deserves grace even if i hate him with a fucking passion. ⸜(｡˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

“This is… slightly embarrassing, cutie,” Rafayel mutters into the pillow, shifting on his stomach. He lets out an equally embarrassing squeak when he feels your weight pressing against the back of his legs pinning his lithe form in place.

He shivers as a wet brush makes a hesitant, experimental stroke along the edge of his shoulders.

“Hey, that’s cold!” He grumbles, his ears a bashful shade of red as you make a couple more dabs at his pale skin. “I get that you’re trying to help me relax, but I think doing this the other way around would be way better—“

“Hush.” You chide softly, leaning down to brush your lips against the nape of his neck. “Let me do this for you, okay?”

He had stumbled back to his art studio after a particularly bad day, ready to take his anger out on the canvas like he always does. However, you had shown up in hopes of seeing him. He wasn’t particularly fond of letting you see him unleash hell with paint and ink. You saw his disheveled state and offered to help him relax.

Now, he was lying on his stomach, his face buried in the pillow he hugged beneath him on the long, chaise lounge.

God, this was embarrassing. Not that Rafayel was uncomfortable with being undressed in front of you. Rather, he felt a sense of unease when it came to you seeing him at his worst, when he was feeling really damn destructive and just needed to throw some paint around. This time, he couldn’t do anything about it.

His shoulders tense as you dip your brush into the shiny glob of paint, smoothing the cool material along the valley of his spine. His entire body seems to shudder with a mix of discomfort, curiosity, and anticipation. Never before has he been the object of someone else’s attention in such a close, intimate way. He’s glad it was with you.

It felt like every single part of him, every blemish and spot that spanned across his body, was being taken apart, pieced back together, and put on display as something beautiful.

Rafayel was no stranger to channeling his anger into creation. Though, he’s never seen himself as the canvas, rather his frustration the catalyst. Art was different with you. A whole new experience, a completely different process.

Hues of blue, red, and gold trail down the broad plane of his back, painting the scene of the ocean he often found himself missing. Your brush travels across the marks that were etched into his skin, leaving none untouched or neglected.

You begin to trace the sun, the stars, and everything beneath the moon’s glow. His deep scars become crashing waves, his bruises dissolve into sea foam that laps at the shores, his freckles reform into the specks of gold that dotted the night sky, and his gashes transform into the clouds of thunderheads that overlook the sea.

You were turning his anguish into beauty, and he couldn’t understand why. He always thought that his greatest creations came from his pain, but the thought of you using his brushes with such care and grace made like feel like his hands could create more.

Soon, the cold, wet paint starts to feel like a second skin to him. The somewhat awkward process slowly turns into a pleasant, almost rhythmical droning sensation that eventually sinks into the back of his mind.

Every fiber of his being was sinking into a cool embrace of intimacy with you. With each delicate stroke, with every careful swipe, the sea became him. Like it was meant to be there. Like he was art.
