❝  𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚍!  ❞   tali exhales her name like relief ---  the woman is just as such:  a lighthouse slicing ribbons through the darkness.   the heat of battle pops and sizzles around them, keeping the quarian braced and sheltered behind the safety of cover.   but it’s not safe, not really.   it’s a near miss:  so close, tali has to check her suit hasn’t been torn apart.   when shepard arrives to take her side, ladened with concern, tali’s fear abates.   ❝  𝚒'𝚖 𝚏𝚒𝚗𝚎!  ❞   she shouts promise over the drumming weapons fire, her suited hand finding purchase on shepard’s arm.   tali holds her there for a moment, as if making sure.   only shaken, not scraped (thankfully).   the show must go on.   ❝  --- 𝚐𝚘!  ❞

while religion finds no residence in tali’s chest,  there is a devout faith in this:  in shepard.   fear threatens to swallow her,  some nights.   she wishes she were braver,  she wishes she knew better.   but it is this desire that drives tali forward,  with shepard urging at her side.   tali is emboldened by the woman’s touch;  her sentiment blowing on the embers of flame.   the fire is there to begin with,  but it swells to warm the room,  when shepard encourages it.   ❝  ... 𝚒 𝚊𝚖 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝚜𝚑𝚎𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚍.  ❞   tali can speak to that much with certainty.   the fear is felt all the same,  but she finds the strength to persevere.   ❝  𝚞𝚗𝚝𝚒𝚕 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚗𝚍.  ❞   and after that,  too.
