for the sake of not upsetting his sister, and several other, he does not tell her he would already have eyes on jae and her in autumn. it was not that the high lord would harm his own son, he may not know the man but he doesn't think suho to be cruel either, particularly not it seemed threatening war if he didn't get time with son. his nephew would fine, it was suho's treatment of persephone that concerned the high lord of dawn the most. a deep sigh falls from him, "i will hope that with his time with jae now, he may relent." not that he's holding his breath. he nodded, looking into sister's gaze, as he continued. "as i am piecing together about lord suho. i know, and i will not do anything to make things difficult for you, as much as i hate this situation as you do. all i want from you, sister, while you are in autumn is to not make the mistake again of becoming close to him. do not give him another chance to break your heart again." his words, both firm and tender. saint greatly feared what would occur again if she's living with the high lord, that he'd likely take advantage of her feelings for him, or something worse, and once more his sister would be left picking up the pieces. her words do bring him some form of relief, "you do not need to either beg or ask. whatever you need, perse, funds, or anything else for yourself, you let me know and i will bring it to you in autumn. do not accept anything from him." saint had already planned to send her with all that she may need.
the high lord of dawn understood her predicament, had he not loved lux that despite his better senses he'd not let her go from his heart? it did not make seeing his sister in situation any easier, even if he realized what hypocrite he was breaking the heart of the woman he himself loved. "no we cannot, no matter how much we wish to." would he go back and stayed away from the redhead fae? he was afraid of his own answer. "for your sake, i hope you do." the words are faint, knowing well, that if he could not, how can he expect his sister to? he could sit here and reason with her all he wishes, but affairs of the heart never knew reason nor logic.
END.
there is no way to for her to deny that either situation was going to piss off one of the two high lords. however it was saint that she knew to be more reasonable. to actually listen to what she is saying. doing what suho wants for the sake of her son is what she has to do. it was suho that she didn't trust to go against. telling the autumn high lord that she would stay in dawn with her son was what she had wished to do, but he would not have agreed to that. nor would he have agreed to the idea of them potentially splitting jae's time in either of his home courts. suho was the one that she was scared of actually starting a war with them. "he may, when things truly settle. however that is my promise to him as of right now. that i will bring his son to the autumn court when we return home. in the mean time while we are here in dusk, i will be allowing him to take jae for short period's of time to allow them to get to know each other." she hadn't spent a lot of time away from her son since she'd had him, it was going to be hard to watch him go off with his father without her. "it is not opportune to live with him while he wishes nothing of me, but if i have to choose my torture over my son's i will." she loathed the idea of going to autumn to not be wanted by the very man that she was in love with, but she would do anything for jae. "i am doing it this way because i can reason with you. i cannot reason with him, he is too tempered to. i will do what it takes to keep both my son and my court safe." she paused. "you can deal with that, i will not beg him for anything."
"i understand that you will not, but i cannot go back and change things." admittedly she didn't want to change things. she may have gotten her heart broken more than once by the same man but she also got jae out of it. even if he never wanted her again in the way that he had before she was happy with her son. "i cannot help it, i let my heart take this one and i'm afraid it is too late to change that." would she ever truly stop loving suho? she didn't even think that she wanted that. for years he'd become such a solid thing in her heart that she didn't think that she could ever love anyone else. even if that meant that she'd be in love with him forever while he could have potentially moved on to another. that thought was the one that could hurt her the most, seeing him enter into something more permanent with another would devastate her. "i don't know that i ever could stop."

his hands tightened around the arms of his chair as his sister spoke, truly sounding nothing less than being back into a corner of sorts. of course, saint also knew if the lord had the chance to know his son, it was far likely he would be willing to yield in the future. it did not make it any easier to know his sister would be living on the other side of their continent, even if he knew deep down, for now, it was the best thing to do. "when his anger quells, he might be willing to look at further options. i don't think it for you either, perse, to live with a man who discarded you." it was what made lord suho hypocritical in saint's gaze. demanding his rights over his son, but not a care of tossing persephone aside when he no longer needed her. he squeezes her hand, "i know you are doing this precisely so that both sides do not have any conflict, and i cannot say that i'm not grateful. given all that around this, this court and when we'll return home, the last we want, or for the children to worry of war. jae will not lose any of his family." a slight shake of his head is given, "he will be treating you fairly." saint would make sure of that.
"yes, well, again, sister, you know understand how it looks from the man who is your brother. he should have known better before becoming involved with you if he didn't intend offer you more. i will not change my mind on this thought." he wouldn't, and as expected and he promised his sister, he would be polite to the autumn high lord, but that did not mean his opinions on the man. certainly not until he proved himself otherwise to the high lord of dawn and admitted to his own mistakes. "there are certain boundaries you don't cross, and it seems he doesn't understand that, so here we are. here you are, bending to his demands." he scoffed a bit, not directed at his sister, of course. it was a bitter feeling, to know his sister would be living with a man who broke her heart. saint had no room to take any moral ground given his own actions towards a woman he loves. "he makes more demands and you finally realize you're better off no loving of him." he wondered if he was speaking of himself, as well.
that was her exact problem, she did not want to go about starting a war between any of the courts. however suho had been threatening to impose war already and if she denied sending him to the autumn court he would likely. but that left her with the decision of whether she stays in dawn without her son, or she goes to autumn to be with jae. "i don't want to fight with him anymore than i already have. he is not budging on the idea of jae living in autumn. it is either i go with him or i relinquish my time with my son and remain in dawn. i do not want to go to autumn where i will be reminded that the man that i love does not want anything to do with me. but i will not let him just have my son. so if that means i must go to autumn than that is what i will do." everything about the situation was awful, but it was time for her to deal with her actions. persephone had loved what she had upon her return to dawn court. she had been closer with saint more than she had ever been in the past, and now that was all about to change. "it is what i must do, i will not be the reason that a war is started. there is no way to predict what could happen if either of you were to start one. perhaps jae would lose both his father and his uncle if one was started. i am trying to let jae have his father in his life, that wouldn't work if something were to happen during a war. not to mention the time it would take for the war to end for the both of you to be involved in jae's life properly." war would never be a good option, so if she could prevent one she would do what she had to. "i do not expect anything for me, all i ask is that jae is treated fairly." it's not hard to know that he'll have eyes kept on her in autumn, she's more than aware that he'd keep tabs on her. she was sure that her father had attempted the same when she had left.
persephone truly did walk herself from one high lord demanding things of her to another. something about this situation felt worse than the one that she'd had with her father. probably in part to the fact that she had never felt as deep of a love for a man that didn't actually want her. she'd let her heart fall for the autumn high lord and it was the worst thing she had done. she would still tell the autumn high lord to speak with her brother before she made the move to autumn. an understanding that she did not want them to go start something that was unnecessary. "i made the same decision, it is just as much my fault as it is his. i knew who he was before i got involved with him. i did not intend to fall in love with him the way that i did. before i knew it it was too late and then he was ending it. i know that i hurt him keeping jae from him. and i regret not telling him in the first place. i cannot change that now." she'd thought long and hard about the fact that she had brought all of this onto herself. perhaps they could have had a better co-parent relationship if she had told him before jae had been born. but she didn't. "i don't speak for my sisters, but i appreciate it at the very least. even if there isn't much you can do, i don't think there is much i can do for it either."

his sister was right, it did not matter what he thought or what he wished for his sister and his nephew, he had little say in the matter. he only wished to make it known that if she was compelled to make a decision, it would be a war he would be prepared for. he kept that last bit to himself though, out of not wishing to worry his sister. saint certainly did not want war, not over something that be resolved with a discussion but he will not back down if it comes to such. after several moments of silence, the high lord of dawn nods. "only if your certain that's what you wish to do. if he's as reasonable as you say, then there should be no reason you both can to a compromise." he does not remark further on the high lord of autumn. it was difficult to offer a deeper understand of the man when all the knowledge saint is given paints an image of a man who had no qualms sleeping with his sister, and did then not offer her room for any unforeseen circumstances such as this. it was hard to shake the image of persephone running away when she learned she was child because she had believed lord suho wouldn't care? "i don't wish for you to move to autumn against your will, but if you feel that's the best way to keep peace between our courts, then i won't stand in your way. perhaps in time, once he's had time with his son, he will cease his demands." one can only hope, but he doesn't hold his breath. "i should hope that he does care well for the mother of his child." once more, he doesn't tell her he will know if she's being mistreated, thanks to the spy he had employed in the autumn court for lux and now for persephone when it's time. "i will come visit you as i can."
it was a bitter pill to swallow for the high lord, that he and sera had eliminated their father for the purpose that their siblings would have the freedom they'd not have under his thumb. only to learn that persephone was once more forced into another situation because of her prior involvement with a high lord. a brow rises slightly at the other's words, "no, i imagine not." saint wouldn't presume to know what was on the other high lord's mind, but it was moot. the decisions he'd made for his son and persephone was enough for the dawn high lord to keep to his thoughts. perhaps if he had been in similar situation he might understand suho. "as i don't care for his happiness. you seem to be forgetting he chose to become involved with you - child or no child , he made a decision and here we all are. he wished to sleep with you, and did not think of the consequences that would come after. and yes, it is both of your responsibilities, as it takes two, persephone. but he broke your heart, and you broke his now, i suppose." he reaches out to squeeze his sister's hand, "it will always be my desire to mend all of my sister's heart even though i know its a task out of my hands."
persephone didn't want to make any abrupt decisions when it came to her son. however it did not seem like she was going to be getting much of a say in her son's life going forward. everything that she had suggested up until that point had been shut down by the autumn high lord. it didn't leave a lot of will in the sawn woman to fight back. "i don't plan to keep him from his father anymore. if that was the case i wouldn't have told him about jae." she easily could have gone the route of avoiding it like she usually would have. suho would have eventually seen her with jae in the court. could have even attempted to tell him that jae was not his child, despite the fact that he is a spitting image of his father. telling him of his son was for both the autumn high lord's benefit as well as her son who deserved to have his father in his life. "you may not be keen on it saint, but it is not looking like i have much of a choice in this. i will not be the reason that a war is started from autumn. i will not leave my son either. if that leaves the only option of me returning to autumn than that is what i will do." it wasn't particularly what she wanted. having to wallow in his court and see him often after he broke her heart was far from what she wanted. but she didn't get to have what she wanted when she had a son. "arguably it's not that unknown of a court. i spent a lot of the time that i was away in the autumn court. and i do not believe that he would let anything bad happen to the mother of his child." besides letting her live in her heart break while he moved forward with his life. "i do not wish to go, however i will not let him just have my son. if that means that i have to go then i have to go." persephone knew that he wasn't going to like that answer. but what else was she supposed to do? not letting her son go to autumn likely meant a war starting again, letting her son go without her meant relinquishing her rights to her son, so that left going to autumn with her son.
getting involved with the autumn high lord had been a recipe for disaster. if her father had learned of their relationship he would have either stopped that or had them forced to marry. it had been a risk that she had tossed herself into simply because of her own stupid heart. when he ended things with her it had been the end of the world for her. crawling back to her younger sister in the night court with her issues. "something tells me he doesn't care for your sympathy." if he was ready to start a war so easily would he even care about gaining sympathy from the high lord and older brother of the woman who fucked up his life. "what else am i supposed to do? i'm pretty sure he'd be more happy if i'd never come into his life." it'd been years since he'd broken her heart, yet he had rebroken it all over again in his reaction to the news of jae. "i don't need you to mend my heart, i appreciate the gesture though." while she wished there was a magical way that she could get over the autumn high lord it wasn't possible. seemingly doomed to love the man that despises her very being.

whenever he gazed up on his other sisters, there was a far greater if guilt that settled into his bones. of all that he had kept from them, and the biggest secret of all, how he'd taken his father's life mercilessly. even a part of the younger saint grieved the man, he could not regret acting on what was best for his remaining sisters. he had already planned to marry off their youngest, and as days went by their father had been entirely out of control. just as he thought prese and lyn would have their freedom, the eldest daughter of dawn had found herself in a situation that once more left her with little avenues. "i do not want you to do any sort of thing that would cause you further issues, perse. nor do i advise you keeping the high lord from his son, but i will not allow him to browbeat you into a decision you're not ready for." he knew that down the line, it wouldn't be wise to keep a high lord son's from him, but the thing he despised most was another cornering his sister in this manner. "any decisions that need to made regarding jae, will be done together with cooperation from him. i also know you would not keep him from his father." truly, he would not pretend as if he knew what either parties were going through, but it was hard to take side with a man who had knocked up his sister and it seemed she had ran for some reason. "i'm not keen on your being so far away from home in an unknown court." gaze softened as he regards his sister, even while knowing that his own past lingers in the autumn court in the form of a former human he had hurt more than times he could count. "if you do wish to go, it's only because you wish, not because he's giving you no other options." the question was how willing the autumn high lord would be to raise their son in a amiable manner, than to force his decisions upon the dawn lady. he pauses listening as his sister finally reveals why she had ran. tossed aside. truly saint knew his anger was a form of hypocrisy considering what he'd done to the woman he loves in the name of doing what was best for her. he draws a deep breath in, jaw clenching. "he is making it difficult for me to have any sympathy from him." it wasn't unheard for any men in power to do what they wish, with anyone, without a single regard but saint could hardly think outside of his brotherly nature. "that's precisely my point, he no longer wished anything to do with you but demands his son." a snort falls from him before he reaches his towards his younger sister and clasping it in his, and squeezing it gently. "for what its worth i am sorry he broke your heart, perse. it is frustrating when i cannot do anything to mend it." truly, it was every brother's nightmare to watch his sister's hearts become broken and not be able to do a thing. with sera, it had been a marriage against her will, and perse falling for a man who had no true care for her.
persephone knew exactly what her life would have been if she had remained in the dawn court. becoming another pawn to connect their court with that of another. married off to someone that she'd have had no choice in. however would that have been any worse than what she had going for her life now? a single mother with the father of her child demanding he get their child in the autumn court. part of her hated that she had fallen in love with the autumn high lord. things wouldn't have been as complicated as she had brought onto herself. though she had never set out to have his child, it had been an accident that came at the worst time. if it had happened before he ended their situation she probably would have told him. however that was not what had happened. "i can't keep him from his father. ares deserves to have his father in his life." the young boy was more than deserving to have his father in his life, what that meant for persephone though was what she was unsure. likely it meant leaving dawn once again. not that she was sure that she could handle living in autumn while the high lord hates her very soul. however she would not let the high lord take their son from her, ares was not going to go from one single parent to another. "because i did what i do best saint. i ran from my problems instead of dealing with them. i doubt he would have changed his mind. he may have made space for me to live there but it wouldn't have changed things." at least that was what she believed. besides there was the fact that it would have looked as though she was trying to lock him in with the fact that she had become pregnant. "no, i would never just hand ares over to him. i do not know what suho wants, other than wanting to have his son in his life. he might let me come with ares to autumn but i don't know until it is discussed more." it was hard to know what everything was going to come down to. persephone had a lot more talking with the autumn high lord to figure out how the dynamics of their co-parenting was going to work. "what are you going to do? though i don't think my familial relationship to a high lord has anything to do with it. no one should get involved with someone to toss them aside later on."

he had known what would have become of persephone had she stayed home, a similar situation to sera. saint was torn between wanting to have his sister here, and out of the trouble she had found herself in, but also of being relieved that she had not been used as a pawn by their father. it was not any easier watching his sister be left to raise a child, without a consideration of what she wished for her future to look like. a part of him suspecting she might have wanted with the father of her son's child. "you're his mother, i will not speak on what is best for your son." saint could be thoughtless but she had done a fine job with ares, but as her brother, he worried more of what his sister wanted. ares would always have a home in dawn, she was not alone and while he was nowhere fit to be a parent, he would ensure his nephew would have the childhood he deserved. the sort of childhood that the galathenea siblings had been robbed of. the more he hears of the high lord she was involved with, the reason why she fled and didn't tell him of her pregnancy, his anger resurfaces once more. fingers tightening around the glass he held as his gaze remains on perse. "you carrying his child would have changed his mind, in the sense of taking responsibility." he supposed high lord suho's anger did confirm he hadn't know she was carrying his child. the shock of learning he was a high lord did not wane and it did complicate the matter further. saint knew exactly how much of a hypocrite he sounded like. had he not broken lux's heart, even if his reasons were different the other male? "i find it ironic, he does not wish to settle down but now is demanding his rights over the child? what of you? if he demands ares to return with him to autumn, will you just hand him over?" in a sense, he did understand why the high lord of autumn was angry, but as the high lord who was persephone's brother, the thought that this high lord had simply wished to toy with her didn't settle well with saint. "he should have thought twice before involving himself with a high lord's sister and then tossing her aside when it no longer suited him."
what their father had wanted for each of them was the one thing that had driven her away from the dawn court in the first place. now a part of her wished that she hadn't run away all those years ago. she would have played her part in whatever it was that her father wanted and maybe her life would have easier. at least easier than dealing with the after math of keeping suho's son from him for six years. revealing it to him while they were forced to be together wasn't exactly the best move, but she didn't really have a choice in that now. though the high lord of autumn was more than aware that she was being forced to tell him. persephone had wanted to reach out to him in the past, but she could never bring herself to do it. to actually tell him that she messed up so bad. "ares deserves to have his father in his life, i have already robbed him of the first six years." the young boy deserved to have his father in his life, and while he was furious with persephone she didn't truly believe that he would harm their son. she'd stand between them the moment she heard even an inkling of it. "i fell in love with him saint, and he broke off everything because he didn't want to settle down. i didn't fully know i was with child until i got to the night court." should persephone have gone right back to autumn after she had discovered that she was carrying the high lords child? yes, but she couldn't bring herself to do it. avoiding the problem like she always did with any problem in her life. "yes." she whispered as she looked to her brother. "i'm sorry." her having a child out of wedlock was bad enough, doing it with a high lord and then keeping it from him was really bad. "i couldn't go back and see him that soon, he didn't want to settle down and i went and got pregnant."

he did not blame his sisters for wishing to leave their court, it had not held the fondest memories for them. a father who saw his children as pawns on a chess to be moved as he wished did not make the best one, particular for his sisters. saint, for the most part had escaped his father's scheming then, but he was certain eventually, he too, would have been wed for some grand political alliance. he suppose despite the circumstances now, persephone had been able to chose her own happiness, live as she pleased away from their court. however, her ending up pregnant out of wedlock was not something he wanted for any of his sisters. it was bad enough their youngest had been married against his will, and saint, having seen no other option to send sera back to the night court when she ran away. that had been one of many things he would carry with him for eternity. the high lord's gaze narrows at her words, jaw clenching as the more he heard of this man, his anger brimmed. "i fail to see how he would be able to." the words still made him pause as he watched his sister. "do you want him still a part of ares's life?" saint knew it wasn't fair to his nephew, that he deserved to have his father raise him, but until saint could know what he was like, he wasn't certain if he wanted the man around his nephew. "there's something your not tell me, i don't know what it is, but something in between the time you were with him and you learning you were pregnant is missing." saint tried to mask his shock, when she revealed his name, he was not just anyone, he was a high lord. "christ's sake, persephone." setting his glass down, he ran a hand through his hair. "a high lord is the father of your child?" his tone still conveyed his disbelief. in truth, would saint have reacted any differently if he learned he had a child out there somewhere? this certainly complicated things, though he was indifferent to the high rulers, this did not help paint high lord suho in a favorable light. "why didn't you tell him you were carrying his child when you knew?"
it's hard to turn to her siblings, none of them ever really being close to the other through their raising. turning to sera in her time of need when she'd left the autumn court had taken a lot of courage on her part. and now turning to saint to help her through this whole situation was another leap of faith for the lady. there was a part of her that wished she had just turned to saint in the first place. had she not ran away in the first place she wouldn't have met suho and put herself into this ridiculous situation. everything could have been so different if she had made the right choices in her life. instead she'd ran and found the wrong person to fall in love with. perhaps if she had stayed in the dawn court she would have found someone that loved her as much as she loved suho. "yes, threatened to start a war if i didn't take him to his son." realizing the moment the words left her lips that she probably revealed a lot more information to who ares' father was. "i don't think he'll take ares from me. at least not while we're in the dusk court. i'm not sure how it'll work when we return to our courts." there's a part of her that is terrified suho will take ares back to the autumn court. "you're right, it takes two to make a child, however it did take the both of us for me to keep it from him. that is on me." persephone hates that she can't stop blaming herself for all of it. taking a leap when he promises to wait until she says he can talk to suho. "the father is suho."

it was easy to overlook the fact that he knew this had all been his sister's choice, that she had willingly become involved with the father of her child without fully thinking of the repercussions. he was a brother and a high lord, that would trump all else when he learned his sister was pregnant out of wedlock. he would not say that the siblings were particularly close, not out of choice, but saint had done his best to ensure that they could come to their elder brother for anything. one of them he had to unwillingly, forcefully sent to another court she she had been married off to due to their father. then there was persephone, who had ran away instead of leaning on her brother. for a time he had been furious, furious that she found herself in this position, furious for being so reckless, while aware of how hypocritical he sounded considering his own deeds. then furious that she refused to name the father of her child, that continued on to this day. "demanded." he echoed, in truth saint himself doesn't know how he'd respond if a woman kept his child from him. "does he intent to take your son away from you or do the right thing?" he takes another swing of his drink before setting the glass down. that in a astonishing turn of events, his sister was allowing him the knowledge of the father. his frame tenses, all the while he sits up straighter. jaw clenching as she demanded his word that he would not confront said man, "i doubt it, it takes two make to a child, sister." he sighs, but his gaze conveys his frustration. "fine, you have my word i will wait until you're ready before i speak to him." who could it be that she felt the need to keep him hidden from her own brother.
keeping it from her brother was something that was hard on her. not only was he her high lord, but he was her big brother. it wasn't like she couldn't go to him for help. however this was her problem, she had put herself in this position and whatever was to come of it was what she deserved for being so stupid. approaching her brother about this situation during the dusk courts celebration probably wasn't her best move, but with the consideration that she had told suho just earlier that night he needed to know with his reaction. "i don't really know yet. he's demanded to see his son understandably. he's angry, and i deserve that." persephone admits as she looks away from the older trying to keep herself together after the fight she'd had with suho. the fact that she hadn't just retreated to her room was already a success to her. "i'm aware that you can easily find out now, i appreciate that you are respecting my wishes. if i tell you, can you promise that you will not go after him for it? he did not know until today that it had happened. it is my fault that things are this way. but i need your help."
