Assuming you are asking what Surge's purpose is if Sonic doesn't know her, and since I write her I'll answer it in terms of my own Surge

And the answer is that it's the same as she is originally meant to have. Starline made her and Kit to be a direct reverse of Sonic and Tails.

The main difference is that, in this AU, he did it to help Eggman, because he wants to finally do away with his greatest obstacles and watch him get his big victories

So her purpose is still to kill Sonic, to prove herself as better than him in every way, but she just hasn't met him yet and he hasn't met her yet

It's probably an obvious answer, but you know what's in the games? Yeah that's what he likes lmao

Tails is very big into the kind of music you'd find in Cyberpunk 2077 I won't even lie-

Honestly? Hard to say. On the one hand, he greatly enjoys classical music. It calms him. On the other, he is the type of guy to work out to the works of Mick Gordon.

Amy is an absolute pop fiend.

Hard-core EDM or metal. And crank that base up as far as it goes too.

Sally honestly just likes classic rock.

Believe it or not, the southern gal doesn't have a strong opinion on any kind of country music. Now the Beatles? That she's crazy for.

Eggman doesn't commonly listen to music. But when he does, it's always music about him.

Honestly, when it comes to Sonic, I struggle to specifically define how he feels about love, and the simplest way I can would be just saying he finds it "hard to love" but that's like... Not it either.

He's more than willing to love, he loves a lot, hard, and often. The issue is commitment, more or less. He doesn't want his life to be held down by anyone, he wants to be able to run free and fast, but he also doesn't want to drag anyone behind him.

He also doesn't want to force others to change for him. He wants both himself and his partner to be the best version of themselves that they can be, even if it means not being together.

Surge on the other hand... Does find it hard to love.

She doesn't know how to feel well outside of her mostly pre-programmed emotions. Any attempts to cause her confusion and irrationality as her mind struggles to basically re-open pathways that have been forcibly clogged by Starline.

But, when she is able to, she has to be the one to lead. It's the only way for her to learn and figure it out right. She can occasionally let others take the lead over her if it's simple things like touches or even kisses, but the big things she can't handle not doing herself first.

Probably worth mentioning that the relationship between my Surge and Kit isn't familial. It's only barely platonic.

At this point in their story in the AU, they're just forced to get along due to proximity and Starline's insistence. If given the chance, Surge would just ditch him. Which, yes, goes against her purpose as "Sonic's evil copy" as Starline intended, but he also fucked up and only made her want to surpass and kill him, while Kit's been given the "loyal to a fault" trait he thinks Sonic and Tails share.

Kit does want to get along with Surge and does want what's best for her, but he also recognizes that she doesn't care about him and so just kinda keeps his mouth shut unless he has to speak up. Usually she doesn't really care, but if she tells him to shut up he does.

I think one thing that is important to mention is that, in terms of mapping out IDW's events onto this AU, Surge and Kit are still in the "backstory" stage of their story.

They haven't even been field-tested yet. They're still being experimented on and "refined" by Starline in hopes that, one day, he'll be able to unleash them onto Sonic and Tails to gain Eggman's eternal and undying approval.

Though they do sneak out often, but keep on the down low since they don't want to be noticed. Of course, they also don't know that Eggman's perfectly aware of them getting out and he just doesn't care. He lets them continue to live solely because he still has some use out of Starline, and he cares about them, so Eggman will keep them around. For now.

But, that doesn't mean I won't write "out-of-sequence" so to speak! Given how this blog often interacts with plenty of other AU and canon-divergent blogs, I'm perfectly fine with matching narrative timelines with the other person I'm writing with. But certain things will stick around for them as they're central to their characters.
