not that maeve regularly lives long enough for marriage to be an option… but if she were to,   she wouldn’t want anything especially big or grand or ‘for show’. 

she’s never been a fan of either too much attention or crowds,  and it’s not as if she has much family...  even her found family comes in the guise of few preciously close friends. so maeve’s priority with such a day is purely the sentimental   &&   entirely about what it means to her and her other half. 

vintage vibes are sure to follow with anything she’s organising herself without her even really meaning it to be there and traditionalism has never suited her. she wouldn’t wear a veil, or even a plain white dress. on a day so important to her,  her look would reflect the things that bring her joy.  her love for botany would also shine through because any event would probably be flower heavy  ( lots of orange tones   &&   nature in everything ).

for the most part,  in the occasions it’s not just a quick ceremony  -  given how she always seems to fall for people who can’t help how emergencies always ruin private moments...  if it’s up to her,  and the universe allows,  a little garden party and simple signing of paperwork is all she really needs.

❀    ||      maeve   &&   jewellery 

 whilst maeve doesn’t really do jewellery   (   shiny things just aren’t her priority   ),   she does treasure what she’s given if it has sentimental value.   when maeve first left for university   -   a nervous fourteen year old genius with no idea who she was   -   her father gifted her a necklace that had been his mother’s.    this necklace remains one of maeve’s absolute favourites for the occasions she feels it’s the right situation for it   -   at the very least giving her something to fidget with.

 she also tends to wear simpler earrings:   studs,   most of the time,   tiny pearl earrings a favourite.   maeve tends to like anything that isn’t immediately obvious and in general actually likes man made alternatives that don’t exploit or destroy the planet.  

 the engagement ring bobby got her was both the wrong size and incredibly...  not her.  it was too big,  the kind of thing meant to get people’s attentions the first moment they spotted her hand.  at work,  she’d often take it off, pop it in a pocket until she saw him again,  or wear it on a chain under her shirt.  

sentimentality of gifts are everything to her,  things given for show are just  -  things that make her uncomfortable.  as a top level geneticist,  she earns enough that if she wanted that sort of thing,  she’d just get it herself.    (   thought is everything when gifting to her,  it truly is.   )
